Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate

what God is doing and what Protexas our vision is

to reach the hungry, the hurdy, and the hopeless. God

has given us our heading. Join us today as we

listen to the Word and we pray that God speaks

to you in this message.

This week, as I was praying and studying for today,

as I do every morning, I got up and I

was pouring my cup of coffee and a thought hit me,

as that coffee was filling that cup up, that I

am pretty consistent making sure that my coffee cup is full.

I'm pretty consistent with that.

I make sure that that coffee cup stays full of coffee.

This that, and looking at that, a thought hit me,

Am I as consistent with making sure.

My cup of my soul is constantly full? Am I

as faithful.

With my spirit and my soul and my heart and

my life staying full of His spirit? As I am

making sure that coffee cup stays full.

I would love to stand here today and tell.

You, yes, I am as consistent, but that would be

not the truth.

I'm not as consistent. Amen.

I let days go by where I don't connect with

the move of God in my life.

And I don't know.

You probably remember them commercials were made. I don't know

how long ago it's been. I would try to guess,

but then I would be wrong, and they it was commercials.

About the commonly asked question is the cup half full

or is it half empty? Really, it's a matter of perspective.

Is it not?

Man? But when it comes to our spiritual life, it's

not what full or half empty?

The question is why is it not full? Amen? Why

is it not full? Man?

Jeremiah the Prophet wrote the Book of Lamentations, and I

want to read Lamentations, Chapter three, verse twenty one through

twenty six, and he says this in verse twenty one,

this I recall to my mind. There are times where

you need to remind yourself of some things in God.

There are times where we can we can recall what

God has spoken to us. There are times where we

need to remind ourselves who God is.

Amen.

Again, I told you I was studying Joshua. I love

the spirit of Caleb. He reminded, Joshua, you owe me

that mountain.

I was promised that mountain. Give me my mountain.

There are times where we need to remind ourselves, our mind.

Remind our enemy, Remind that giant, remind the wall, Remind

the jail cell, Remind the spirit of fear. Remind the

doubt that creeps into our life. Remind ourself who God is, Amen,

That he is our waymaker, He is our refuge, he

is our hope, he is our peace, he is our joy. Amen,

we cannot stay silent when it comes to battle. Sometimes

all it takes is blowing a trumpet. Just ask Gideon.

They didn't have to raise a sword, they didn't have

to throw a spear. He said, you and the three

hundred faithful, I want you to go, and I want

you to stand. I want you to break these pictures,

and I want you to blow the trumpet. Amen, there

are gonna be battles in your life that it doesn't

require you picking up a sword or picking up a stone.

It requires you lifting your voice to remind yourself who

God is.

Amen.

And So in his lamenting Jeremiah said this, I recall

to my mind, go back.

Therefore, I have hope.

I'm reminding myself in this spirit of lamenting, I'm reminding myself.

Therefore I have hope. You are not hopeless. As long

as there's breath in your body. Jesus Christ can step

into the middle of your life. Amen, you have hope, hallelujah.

Verse twenty two. Though the Lord's mercies are.

Not consumed because his compassions fail.

Not. What he's saying is, I have hope because of

these things. I have hope because his mercies are not consumed.

I have hope because his compassions fail me not.

Amen.

In depression. In oppression, sometimes you just have to open

the book and remind and recall to your mind what

the promises of God are, Amen, hallelujah, Verse twenty three.

In fact, I hope in these things that are not consumed.

I hope in his compassions that fell, not because they

are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness, hallelujah, Great

is your faithfulness. And in verse twenty four, and this

is the focus of my word today, or the word

of the Lord today that I'm sharing.

The Lord is my portion, hallelujah. Say that with me.

The Lord is my portion, Amen.

He is my share, he is my part, he is

my substance, he is my everything. That's what that word

portion means. He's the share of my inheritance. He's the

share of what God has blessed me with.

He is my portion.

I don't find my portion and my hope in things

that are temporary, in things that can be stolen, in things.

That can be taken.

No, I find my hope in My portion is found

in things eternal.

It's found in the One that is eternal. Hallelujah. That's

where our hope must lie. Amen.

Our hope cannot lie in the things of this world, lie.

In things that we possess.

Amen, Our hope must lie in Him.

Therefore I have hope. Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Because the Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore

in him. You know, when you think about lamenting, I

don't lament like Jeremiah lamented.

In these first in these few verses.

When I'm in a spirit of lamenting, I'm usually in

a spirit of complaining. And there's enough heads nodding and going,

and I think you are right there in the same boat,

you know, And even Jeremiah, I'm gonna come back to this,

but even I'll just stay right here because I don't

think I put it in here. If you look at

jerem Lamentations, Chapter three, Verse one, I love this, This

is more our speed.

Right here.

I am a man that has seen affliction by the

rod of his wrath.

That's more our speed right there. Amen. Makes me think

of the song Ah damn, a man of constance horrow.

That's it. That's all I got right there.

But that's our lamenting. Oh I'm in constant. Oh I'm

in constant grief. Oh I'm in constant whatever. Amen, that's

how we lament. And Jeremiah started out that way, but

found his way to remind himself.

In all the lamenting.

Jeremiah somewhere said, Yeah, I may be afflicted, and I

may be beaten down, and I may be all of

these things, poor, poor, pitiful me, and I'll sing my

song of tears. But understand, I know still who my

God is, and this I recalled to my mind. I

still have a hope because even in my affliction, His

mercies are new every day, even in my sorrow, His

compassions will never fail. And him is my portion. Is

where I find my portion. My cup is full because of.

Him, hallelujah.

And this and so therefore I hope in him. Verse

twenty five.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him

to the soul who seeks him, to the soul who seeks.

Him Verse twenty six.

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly

for the salvation.

Of Lord, hallelujah.

If his mercies and his compassions are new every single morning,

then why do we have the tendency to start and

finish our days on empty?

Hallelujah, hallelujah.

I am a man afflicted. He felt Jeremiah felt that emptiness.

He understood the longing of the hearts and of a soul.

God is our portion, hallelujah. What fills your cup?

Amen? What fills your cup when you're on empty? What

do you run to?

Where do you find yourself clinging when you're on empty?

Is it things of this world? Or do you seek Him?

Do you wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord

in your lamenting? Do you remind and recall the goodness

of the Lord in your lamenting and in your affliction,

and in your sorrow and in your grief?

Do you ever have a.

Moment where your spirit overtakes your flesh and it says, yes,

I know I feel this way, but I know who

my God is, and He's still the way maker and

He's still good, and he's still faithful. And he is

my portion, and he is my refuge. He is my rock,

and he is my high tower. He is my strong tower.

He is my buckler, and he is my shield, and

he is my fortress.

Amen.

Recall and yourself who your God is. You are not defeated. Amen,

You are not defeated. When our hope is poorly placed

in things of this earth, that emptiness appears because.

Hoping in things that can change, hoping in things that

can be stolen or taken, hoping in people that can

disappoint and forsake, leads to an empty cup.

Our hope is not in our jobs. It's not in

our careers. It's in Jesus Christ.

Amen.

My firm foundation is not a business, is not some

financial thing. My firm foundation is the rock that.

Is Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Because all of those things can disappear, all of those

things can go away, all of those things can be

robbed and stolen from me.

Amen.

But I know nothing can separate me from the love

of God in Christ Jesus. Nobody can steal what God

has done for you. Nobody can steal your testimony. Nobody

can can rob you of the story of where God

found you and what He's done in your life. Nobody

can rob you of your healing. Nobody can rob you

of a promise that came to pass.

Amen.

So my hope is not in things that can be taken, Amen,

because there were times in my life where I found

myself hoping and think Amen, and good jobs and good careers,

only to see those things dissolve.

Hallelujah. Nothing in this world lasts forever.

That's why we must hope in the eternal Hallelujah. We

must have our hope in Him. When our hope is

in an unchanging, immovable, omnipotent God, we don't stay empty. Amen,

We don't stay empty. David wrote in Psalms sixteen, verse five,

Oh Lord, you are the portion of my inheritance and

my cup.

You maintain my lot. Amen. Do we trust him? Do

you trust him?

Hallelujah, hallelujah.

There's a verse that talks about where our treasure is

there our heart.

Will be also, Amen.

And when your heart is longing, what you turn to

first will tell you where your treasure is. When your

heart is empty, feels empty, when things in your life

feel destitute, where you turn to. What you run to,

what you cling to, will uncover and reveal what your

treasure is. And I'll tell you this if it's anything

other than Jesus Christ, not last, but first. If it's

anything other than Him, then your treasure is poorly placed.

Your treasure is in the wrong things.

Amen. Amen.

As much as I my umpty, I can't run to.

I don't need to run to my wife or my kids. Amen,

as much as I love them, and as much as

they can bring joy and happiness, Amen, Amen, they are

not my hope.

My hope is in Jesus Christ. Amen. We have to

place our hope in him. Amen.

Oh Lord, you are my portion of my the portion

of my inheritance, and my cup. You maintain my lot

Psalms twenty three. You prepare a table before me, in

the presence of mine enemies, you anoint my head with oil.

My cup runs over.

Amen, in the very presence of my enemies, you place

me at a table. Amen, you've anointed my head with oil.

You've allowed my cup to run over. Even when I'm

hiding in a cave. My cup runs over, even when

I'm running for my life. My cup runs over, even

when I'm afflicted, my cup runs over. Even when I'm

a cursed my cup runs over. We even when I'm

bruised and I feel defeated, my cup runs over. Even

when I've made mistakes, my cup runs over. Why, How

in affliction, How in sorrow? How in emptiness can our

cup run over? He becomes our portion, when he becomes

our share and the parts that fills us First, hallelujah,

There is an offering from God to us. We talk

about making an offering of praise, and offering of worship,

and offering of tithing and offering and giving and all

of these things to God. But there is an offering

from God to us, and it is to keep us full.

Despite what life throws at us. Our cup can overflow

with the things of God, even in sorrow, even in affliction,

even in bitterness, even in struggle, even in the storm,

even in the battle, our cup can constantly overflow.

Amen, you don't ever have to stay empty. Amen.

I can understand, and I can even empathize with temporary emptiness.

We've all felt it, we've all dealt with it.

However, it is not God's desire for us to stay empty.

Prolonged emptiness creates spiritual malnourishment within our soul.

Amen.

But God has provided a remedy. There is a host

of promises that we can hold on to. In John

chapter fifteen, verse eleven, Jesus says, these things I have

spoken to you may remain in you, and that your

joy may be full.

Hallelujah.

There is a promise of the fullness of joy in

our life.

Amen.

Feeling weak, you need to be renewed and restored and

refilled with the joy of the Lord. Because it is

the joy Jeremiah said, or Neamiah said, it is the

joy of the Lord that is my strength. Amen, it

is the joy of the Lord that is my strength.

Why is it my strength? Because nothing in this life

can steal the joy of the Lord from us.

Amen.

It can steal my own personal joy that I find

in things of this earth.

Amen, it can steal that joy.

I can allow the circumstances and the situations of life.

I can allow a heavy storm or a strong battle

to steal joy that I have.

Found in temporary things.

But the joy of the Lord cannot be stolen from me,

because they know those things that are temporary didn't give

it to me. I find the joy of the Lord

in him, when I hope in him and I allow

him to fill my cup up.

Amen.

Amen, you have a promise of fullness of joy. That

is our strength Ephesians, chapter three, verse seventeen. That Christ

may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you, being

rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend

with all the saints. What is the width and the length,

and the depth and the height verse nineteen. To know

the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you may

be filled with all this God, filled with the fullness

of God. Hall Yah, Filled with the fullness of God.

Jesus is praying in the garden of Gasimone, and he

knows what's coming.

He's known since he was born what's coming.

He knows his purpose, and he's praying, and his flesh

cries out, if it all possible, let this cup pass

from me, Let this responsibility.

Pass from me.

His flesh is breaking, his flesh is weak, and so

he understands. That's why the scripture says, in all.

Ways, was he tempted like us? In all ways?

Does he understand the emotions and the feelings that we

go through. He felt the emptiness of the flesh. He

felt the weakness of his flesh. But he says, the

flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing.

Amen.

How can the spirit overtake the flesh? When we constantly

keep the spirit full fullness of God. It's restoring our

soul in his presence, not just on Sunday mornings, not

just city groups, but every single day, starting and ending

our day in His presence, starting our day by reminding

and recalling his promises and his mercies and his grace.

That his grace is sufficient for the day thereof Amen.

And then at the end of the day, when your

body's weak and your mind is spent, recalling and reminding yourself.

That God is still faithful.

My flesh may be weak, but God, let my cup

be full of the Holy Ghost.

Let my cup be full of the joy. Let your

joy be my strength.

Amen, give me a peace that passes all understanding, even

in the weakness of my flesh.

Let my soul be rejuvenated because you are my portion.

Hallelujah.

You see all that, all that takes constant attention and commitment.

It's the analogy two dogs, which.

One stronger the one you feed? Who you feeding? What

cup are you filling up. We're all given and a

cup of the spirit. Which one do you pour in more? Amen?

Which one do you spend more time focusing on the

cup of the flesh or the cup.

Of the spirit. Hallelujah.

If the spirit, the cup of the spirit is never

full in your life, your flesh will reign supreme and

you will fall to the weakness and the frailty of

the flesh.

Hallelujah.

But if you constantly return to the well of the Spirit,

that well that is springing up, if you constantly go

back to it day in and day out.

Oh, but that takes, yeah, it does take.

It takes commitment, It takes a desire, It takes a

hunger and a thirst for the spirit. But we also

have this promise that they that hunger and thirst after

His righteousness.

Will be filled.

Hallelujah.

You see, for every issue of life, we have a

promise in this book.

Amen.

And that's why, Amen, every day and every evening we

should start our day and we should end our day

with time with Him, time and his word, time with

Him time in his word. Why, because I need to

remind my flesh that it is not in control. I

have to remind my flesh, that it is submitted to

the authority of spirits. Amen, that when I walk single day,

I am not following after the flesh. I am following

after the Spirit of the Living God, that is my Savior,

that is my counselor that is my King.

Amen, I'm following him. Amen. My flesh shpt does not reign.

My flesh does not make the decision of what I do.

The Spirit does.

And so I have to constantly fill the cup of

the Spirit in my life, or else.

The flesh gets full.

Amen, And the flesh reigns Supreme Colossians one nine. For

this reason, we also, since the day we heard it,

do not cease to pray for you and.

To ask that you may be filled.

This is Paul writing to the church at Colisi, and

he says, I'm asking.

My prayer for you is that.

You're filled with the knowledge of his will. And that's

my prayer for you today and every day, that you're filled.

With the knowledge of His will. Amen.

That it's not just some calendar on a phone or

some calendar hanging on the wall of all your duties today,

but that when you wait, there's this knowledge of the

will of your heavenly Father, that today is a day

that the Lord has made.

I will rejoice and I will be glad at it.

And I know today's not just a day where I'm

gonna spend eight hours at a certain job or this

many hours doing this, or running certain errands, or going

here and going there, or picking up kids and dropping

off kids. That my day has an eternal purpose, That

my day has a purpose, that I can walk in

an opportunity and the favor and the blessing of Jehovah,

and he can.

Lead and order my steps. Amen.

Every single day, that is true, Aman, whether you feel

it or not, every single day there are opportunities for us.

To walk in His will.

And Paul was praying that you're filled with the knowledge

of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Paul

was saying, Church, we have to open our eyes spiritually.

There is a cup of the spirit that must.

Be full whide because you're gonna come across people that

have never had their.

Spiritual cup full.

Amen, You're gonna come across people that He wants to

use you to minister too. And if your spiritual coup

is empty, if your spiritual eyes are closed, you'll miss

the opportunity and you'll just spend the day walking and

drinking after the cup.

Of the flesh.

Hallelujah.

Understanding wisdom, knowledge, knowing that His grace is sufficient, knowing

that every day is a purpose and a promise that

you can walk in and fulfill.

Amen, hallelujah. It's a perspective.

It's a complete paradigm shift in the way we think,

and it all starts in the five and a half

inches between our ears.

Amen.

We have to understand that I cannot waste a day.

That's a lot of responsibility, isn't it. Yeah, it is, Amen.

But as great as that responsibility feels, that we would

just you know, like to just man, I just I

want to have a flake out day. I don't want

to think about anything. I don't want to do anything.

I just want to And I get it. I get

I wouldn't mind a flakeout day here and there, and

I the Lord's bless me every now and then I'll

get one of them.

Amen. And I hope you do too. You need a sabbath. Amen.

But even in your sabbath, even in your flake out day,

don't forget to listen for the voice of the spirit, Amen,

because this is what can happen in your flakeout day.

It can become a day where you focus on all

that's wrong, because that's our human nature. That's why when

you turn on the television and you flip from news

channel to news channel to news channel, doesn't matter what

the broadcast is or what channel you're on. Ninety five percent,

maybe even higher, is gonna be negative news.

What babe to what's wrong? Amen?

And in our relaxation, in on our day of downtime, Amen,

we can slowly slide into this realm of oppression and depression.

And what's wrong? And why isn't this happening? Amen?

So even in our day of chill, we've got to

take time to start and finish our day in his

presence and in his word, because.

You never know.

You never know when the Lord wants to speak a

word of encouragement.

You never know when he.

Wants to put somebody on your mind. And I know

you're relaxing today, but if you can't, I would like

for you just to pick up the phone. And I

know it's a lot of work to find their number

and dial it and call that person and tell them

I know exactly where they're at.

I know it's a lot of work.

And I know you're this is your flake out day

and you're just relaxing and you're not working today.

You're not doing this. But if you'll.

Listen from my voice, I'm speaking in a still small voice.

I want to tell you some things. I want to

tell you how I feel about you. I want to

tell you what I've got for you. I want to amen.

Because he's always speaking, always, he's never silent.

We just have to listen. We just have to hear. Amen.

And then in Acts chapter two, Peter, it's the day

of Pentecost.

They're out on the street of Jerusalem. It's going bunkers.

People are looking around, going, I think these folks are drunk.

I mean. Peter says, no, no, no, no, they're not

drunk with the wine that you think.

He said. But there's this new wine.

That was poured out in that dining room up there,

and he says, So he stands up and he begins

to preach, and in verse sixteen, he says, but this

is what was spoken by the prophet Joel every day,

verse seventeen, and it shall come to pass. And then

he quotes Joel and it shall come to pass in

the last days, say God, I will pour out of

my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters

shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, your old

men shall dream dreams.

Amen. I don't know.

If I'm still considered a young man or if I'm

an old man. I think I'm balancing, because because the

Lord shows have dreams. So I think I'm in that

transition period.

From me hunk old.

Some days my body feels young, most days my body

feels old. Heymen, I'm gonna pour out of my spirit

on all flesh. That promise is still true today, but

not just in a service like this. Every single day

his spirit is being poured out.

Amen.

There is an emptying of his presence. There's a pouring

out of his spirit every day. And your sons and

your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams. And on my

men's servants and my maid servants. I will pour out

my spirit in those days and they shall prophesy.

Amen.

You see, this is the deal we take, that sons

and daughters prophesying, young men seeing visions, and all men dreaming,

dreams and servants, men, servants and maid servants, prophesying. We

take all of that and we want to put it

in this pretty little box that fits into the Second

Corinthians gifts of the Spirit, and we want to fit

everything into this little box that makes us feel comfortable

and makes us But what he's saying is listen, when

my spirit begins to fill your cup, I'm gonna do

things in your life that will not make sense. I'm

gonna begin to speak in ways that do not make sense.

I'm gonna be begin to do things in your life

that are gonna challenge your ideologies and your theologies. As

the spirit begins to move, I'm gonna use people that

you don't think can be used.

I'm gonna do things in people that you would have

never guessed. Amen.

But his spirit begins to feel and overflow the cup. Amen,

and there is an outpouring congeance to come. There is

an outpouring of his spirit that causes and overflow. We

don't have an excuse to live empty because the fullness

of His blessings are available every single day. Stand with me, hallelujah, hallelujah.

Would you close your eyes this morning, hallelujah. Is there

a part of your life that is empty? Have you

felt emptiness lately?

Have you felt that hollowness, that void that shallowness?

Hallelujah?

If you have, you can leave here full. You can

leave here full because He portioned, He is your part,

He is your share. His provision can fill your cup.

His compassion is new every day. His spirit desires to

fill your heart and your soul. Today you can leave

with the joy of the Lord. Hallelujah. All it takes.

Is seeking him. All it takes is going to the well.

Go into the well and place your life under the

flow so that spiritual cup can be filled to a

place where it begins to overflow.

Hallelujah.

If there's anything in your life that you need the

Lord to fill today, I want to invite you to

step out from where you're standing and come up to

the altar of this building, the front of this building, hallelujah,

and let the Lord fill.

Your cup today. Are there some relationships that feel empty?

There are some voids in your daily purpose, in your

daily life that you need God to fill. Is there

something missing that you need God to renew and remind

you of and restore hallelujah.

If there is, don't hesitate.

Step out from where you're at today, hallelujah, take a

step of faith and come up and kneel before him

today and allow him to begin to fill that cup.

In your life.

Hallelujah. I know it takes courage. I know it takes courage.

I don't want anybody to know that I'm empty. Well,

we all have emptiness in our life. We all have

areas where we need God to pour himself to be

full of the fullness of God.

Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Why don't we lift our hands all over this building.

I need you to fill me right now.
