  1. Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate

  2. what God is doing and what Protexas Our vision is

  3. to reach the hungary, the hurdy, and the hopeless. God

  4. has given us our heading. Join us today as we

  5. listen to the Word and we pray that God speaks

  6. to you in this message.

  7. We are going to continue in our series. Well it

  8. wasn't a series, but now it is small things we're

  9. going to talk about that. We're going to talk about

  10. the prophet Zachariah and another vision that he saw that

  11. the Lord showed him and how that relates to us.

  12. And so for that, I want to start by going

  13. to Zachariah chapter four, and we're going to start with

  14. verse two and read verse two and verse three. And

  15. I know you just got comfortable, but I'm gonna ask

  16. you to stand all right. Verse two and verse one

  17. basically says the Angel showed up again. That's really basic.

  18. Guy says. And he said to me, what do you see?

  19. And so I said, I am looking. And there is

  20. a lamp stand of solid gold with a bowl on

  21. top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with

  22. seven pipes. Verse three. Two olive trees are by it.

  23. One at the right of the bowl and the other

  24. at its left. Amen, you can be seated. Now, if

  25. you just read those and you haven't done any kind

  26. of studying on this, that just seems okay, he had

  27. a vision. But I want to point out something really quick.

  28. So there is a little contrast in this. A lot

  29. of times when we talk about a candlestick, we think

  30. of the candlestick that was or the candlelabra that was

  31. in the holy place of the Tabernacle of Moses, and

  32. this there are some subtle differences, but powerful differences between

  33. the candlelabra or the candlestick that was in the tabernacle

  34. and this one that was in the vision of the

  35. prophet Zachariah. The one that was in the tabernacle was

  36. it was constructed in a way where the lamps were separate.

  37. They were all separate, and so being separate, they all

  38. had to be individually trimmed and filled with oil by

  39. the priest. And so the priest would come in and

  40. he would trim the lamps and he would fill the

  41. oil because that was the only light in the holy

  42. place of the Pernacle. And so that candelabra, that candlestick

  43. was constructed in a way that it included and needed

  44. and had to have the work of the priest involved

  45. for it to stay lit. The candlestick that Zachariah sees

  46. is a little bit different. It's constructed in a different

  47. way the one here. All of the lamps are joined

  48. together by different pipes, and they all are fed oil

  49. consistently pull or by the bull that stood over it.

  50. And the bowl was continually supplied with oil without any help, care,

  51. or attendance of man. Okay, and so that's what this vision.

  52. He's seeing this. And there's two olive trees, one on

  53. either side of the candlestick, and they're full, they're fat,

  54. and they're fruitful, and they're producing on their own accord

  55. plenty of oil that is constantly poured into the bowl

  56. that stands above the candlestick, and then through the larger

  57. pipes it's dispersed into the candle stick so that it

  58. continues to burn. Nobody needed to attend this candlestick, nobody

  59. needed to furnish it with oil. All of those things

  60. were done naturally, organically, spiritually, and so that's what Zachariah

  61. sees here. Then you go down to verse eleven and

  62. the prophet says. Then I answered and said to him,

  63. talking to the angel of the Lord, what are these

  64. two olive trees at the right of the lampstand and

  65. at its left? That was verse eleven, verse twelve. And

  66. I further answered and said to him, what are these

  67. two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the

  68. two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains. So

  69. he gives us this picture of these oil of these

  70. olive trees that are growing on either side of this

  71. lamp stand and the branches, and there's this big bowl

  72. above it, and two large pipes coming out of it

  73. into smaller pipes to feed the lamp stand. And off

  74. of these two olive trees are branches that are coming over,

  75. and they're full of olives, and the oil from the

  76. olives are constantly dripping. That's the picture we're being painted here.

  77. Can you see it? And I further answered and said

  78. to him, what are these two olive branches that drip

  79. into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which

  80. the golden oil drains? Verse thirteen. Then he answered me

  81. and said, do you not know what these are? And

  82. I said, no, my Lord, in verse fourteen. So he said,

  83. these are the two anointed ones who stand beside the

  84. Lord of the whole earth. And I want to explain

  85. what that means. The Church, first of all, is the candlestick.

  86. The church is the lamp stand. Okay, So in your mind,

  87. when you're looking at this picture, this vision given by

  88. the prophet Zachariah, I want you to understand that the

  89. church us not the building. The church. You and I

  90. are the lamp stand a man. And so everything I'm

  91. gonna say, here's with it that we are the lamp stand.

  92. We are the candlestick. Okay. We are set up to

  93. be a light in this dark world. We are called

  94. to hold the light of divine revelation to the world.

  95. If they want to know who Jesus is, where do

  96. they come? They come to the church, not to the building,

  97. to the church, to you, to me, to us. Amen.

  98. Why because we've met him. He's changed our life. Amen.

  99. And so when the when those that are hopeless and

  100. hurting and hungry, looking for an answer, looking for a savior,

  101. looking for hope, looking for healing, looking for to be

  102. fed and to be nourished, where do they come? They're

  103. gonna run to the light. They're gonna be drawn to

  104. the light. We are the light lamp stands. Why Jesus

  105. in Matthew five says you are the light of the world. Amen.

  106. We are the light of the world. And so we

  107. are to hold that light of divine revelation. We are

  108. be a light in the darkness. The candle is God's.

  109. The Church is but the candlestick. All of it made

  110. of gold, all of it precious, all of it great

  111. and excellent. Why because it was created, and it was ordained,

  112. and it was ordered by God. Amen. So that makes

  113. it holy. That makes it precious. Man. The Church is golden, Amen,

  114. Why because it's made by Him. All things are made

  115. by Him and for Him. Amen. There was not anything

  116. made that wasn't made by Him. Amen. So, however, there

  117. is a constant supply to the Church that flows from

  118. a place depicted in this vision. Okay, And I want

  119. to show you this. It's the two olive trees. What

  120. are the two olive trees? The Angel season on the

  121. sword of the whole earth. And I want to show

  122. you what this means. These two olive trees are the

  123. two relationships that exist between God and the Church. Amen.

  124. It's what they are. And the first relationship I want

  125. to show you is the relationship between Jesus Christ and

  126. the Church. How does Jesus Christ relate to the church.

  127. This is the relationship. This is one of the olive

  128. trees that exists on the side of the lampstand that

  129. the prophet Zachariah saw. Amen. And I want to start

  130. with the verse that shows us a little something Verse Timothy,

  131. chapter three, verse sixteen. And without controversy, great is the

  132. mystery of godliness. God was manifested in the flesh, justified

  133. in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the gentiles,

  134. believed on in the world, received up into glory. And

  135. so Jesus comes to establish the church. Amen. He then

  136. becomes two things for the church. He establishes himself as

  137. the chief corner for the foundation of the church. That's

  138. why he told Peter upon this, I will build my church. Amen.

  139. He was talking about the revelation of who Jesus was

  140. that Peter had he said, who do men say that

  141. I am? Well, they say you're a prophet, they say

  142. you're this, they say you're that. He said, Peter, who

  143. do you say? He said, you are the Christ? Amen,

  144. you are the Savior. Amen. And that that foundation, that belief,

  145. that understanding, that revelation of who Jesus is, is the

  146. foundation of the whole church, not life city, the global church,

  147. the church that began in an upper room in Jerusalem

  148. in the Book of Acts chapter two, when his spirit

  149. began to move, that church that moved throughout Jerusalem from

  150. home to home, and lives and souls were added to

  151. it daily and over generation, in decades and centuries. He

  152. has never stopped moving. And he's moving here today. Why

  153. because there are still lost souls out there. He will

  154. never stop reaching, he will never stop moving, he will

  155. never stop calling until every life has had an opportunity

  156. to kneel before him and give their life to him. Amen.

  157. And so Jesus comes and he establishes himself as the

  158. chief cornerstone for the foundation of the church. But he

  159. is also the head of the church. So he is

  160. the head of the church, but he's also the cornerstone

  161. for the foundation of the church. He feels all in all, Amen,

  162. and be in the head. What do you have in

  163. your head? Okay, wrong, crowd, most of the time, what

  164. do you have in your head? A brain? There we

  165. go give yourself a hand. I'm just playing being. We

  166. have a brain. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Amen.

  167. We have a mind. Amen. If he is the head,

  168. that means his mind directs the church, and a mind

  169. has a will. When we pray about the will of God.

  170. You know what we're praying, Lord, let them let what

  171. Paul wrote to the church at Philippi and Philippians two five.

  172. If you'll put that up says, let this mind be

  173. in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Amen, when

  174. you pray, Lord, let your will be done. You know

  175. what you're asking. You're asking Lord, let my mind attach

  176. itself to your mind. Let your thoughts become my thoughts.

  177. Let what you're thinking become what I'm thinking. I want

  178. to see what you see. I want to know what

  179. you know. I want to walk where you lead me. Amen.

  180. And that's what praying the will of God means. It

  181. means us fastening our mind to his mind, Amen, dispersing

  182. the thoughts that we have, and taking hold of the

  183. thoughts that He has for us and about us. Amen.

  184. His will directs the church, His will orders our steps. Amen.

  185. So also, what does it mean to have the mind

  186. of Christ? Well, being a part of the church is

  187. not just at tending church. Man. We understand that, right,

  188. I've said that enough here. You guys know that being

  189. a part of the church means walking in the mind

  190. of Christ, walking in the mind of Christ. So what

  191. is the mind of Christ. Well, we're told that in

  192. Philippians chapter two, verse seven and eight. Let's read that

  193. but made himself of no taking the form of a

  194. bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. Amen.

  195. Another verse says, he became sin He lowered himself, sinless, spotless, perfect,

  196. took on the lowly form of a man for you,

  197. for me, Amen. He didn't come to be exalted, He

  198. came to take your place in my place. Amen. Hallelujah.

  199. There's power in that verse eight. And being found in

  200. appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient

  201. to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

  202. The mind of Christ is a life of servanthood. It's

  203. a life of unity with the mind and the will

  204. of God, and its obedience to the will of God.

  205. That's what having the mind of Christ is about. When

  206. the church walks in obedience to His will, when the

  207. church takes on the spirit of servanthood, walk in obedience

  208. and unity with the mind of Christ. Amen. Our purpose

  209. is not to be elevated. Our purpose is to serve

  210. and reach and intercede and encourage the hungry, the hurting,

  211. and the hopeless. Amen. The Church is not to be praised.

  212. The head of the Church is to be praised. Amen.

  213. He is the King of kings. He is the oil.

  214. We are just the lamp stand. He is the light.

  215. We are just the lamp stand. We are to hold

  216. the light within us and to shine it in the darkness.

  217. And so when we as the Church walk in obedience

  218. and in obedience life a life of servanthood. We live

  219. in the covering of his name. Amen. We live in

  220. the covering of his name. He called it his church

  221. because his blood was shed on Calvary. He calls it

  222. his church because his name is upon it. His power

  223. fells it. That's why he called it his church. And

  224. if we want to be the Church, we must become

  225. obedient to his will, and we must walk in servanthood

  226. to his purpose and his will for our life. Amen.

  227. And when the church begins to understand that we didn't.

  228. Our purpose is to serve. Our purpose is to be

  229. a witness. Our purpose is to make disciples. That's it.

  230. That's all we're called to do. We're not and mighty

  231. temples so that people drive by and say, oh my,

  232. look at what man did. If you want a history

  233. of that, go to the Old Testament and read about

  234. this place called Babbel and the tower that was built there.

  235. But we don't learn. You drive down I twenty or

  236. I thirty from West Texas to East Texas and there

  237. are no minimum on massive, unbelievable temples built for quote

  238. unquote worship. Amen. If God build a house, if God

  239. build a house, Amen, we were not called and I

  240. know he's oh passor you got this building back here

  241. that you got you're gonna build. Amen, that's not my building,

  242. you know what. And if the Lord never lets us

  243. build that building, Amen, that's his call. Amen. You don't

  244. belong to me, Amen, you belong to him. I'm in

  245. this jug I'm in this just as much as you are. Amen. Hallelujh.

  246. That's not for us, that's not for tim, that's not

  247. for the dun family. Amen. If he allows us to

  248. build it, guess what he's gonna build it. And if

  249. he can build if he wants it built, he'll finance it. Amen.

  250. He's already shown that he used King Xercees of the

  251. Persian army to fund the rebuilding of the Wall of Jerusalem. Man,

  252. that don't make sense, a pagan God funding the building

  253. of the Wall of Jerusalem. Amen. When God builds the house,

  254. no man can carry on. Hallelujah, hallelujah. So when we

  255. understand what our purpose is, what we're called to do,

  256. we're called to serve. We walk in obedience and servanthood. Amen.

  257. So that's the first tree. The first tree is the

  258. representation of the relationship of Jesus Christ to the Church.

  259. The second tree is the relationship between the Holy Ghost

  260. and the Church. Amen. So upon the ascension of Jesus

  261. days later, the Holy Spirit is poured out in fulfillment

  262. of the word of the prophet Joel when he said,

  263. upon is, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Amen.

  264. And so this happens in the Book of Acts chapter two.

  265. Suddenly a mighty rushing wind, and all of that. You

  266. know it, You've read it, We've taught and preached from it. Amen.

  267. In John chapter fourteen, verse six, Jesus is speaking to

  268. the disciples, and he says, I will pray the Father,

  269. and he will give you another helper, that he may

  270. abide with you forever, the Spirit of Truth. Amen. I

  271. love that Verse seventeen. The Spirit go to verse seventeen.

  272. The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because

  273. it neither sees him or knows him. But for he

  274. dwells with you and will be in you. Not only

  275. is the Spirit of God given to abide in us,

  276. he comes as the Spirit of Truth. Amen. He comes.

  277. He gives us the ability the baptism of his spirit

  278. gives us the ability to discern every spirit and voice. Amen.

  279. The Church must know the voice of the Master. We

  280. must know the voice of the Shepherd of the Good

  281. and Great Shepherd. We must understand and know his voice.

  282. And the Spirit of God abiding in us gives us

  283. the ability to discern the spirits. There's a lot of

  284. spirits in this world. The Holy Spirit is not the

  285. only spirit you're gonna face, right, How do you know

  286. the difference discernment? Amen. See Jesus says, I am not

  287. going to leave you empty handed. I'm not just gonna

  288. go away and not give you anything. Says the comforter,

  289. the helper, the teacher is coming and he's gonna he's

  290. gonna teach you all things that you need to know. Amen.

  291. It opens our eyes to understand, because there are gonna

  292. be spirits that you face. And I know if you're

  293. new here, you know, I don't know how to say it.

  294. We believe in miracles, we believe in healing, We believe

  295. in spiritual things. There's a spirituals a realm that we

  296. live in that we see, and there's a realm that

  297. we don't see most of the time. Amen. And so

  298. sometimes it shows up and it freaks us out. But amen, Amen.

  299. But there are a lot of spirits in this world. Amen.

  300. And without the Holy Spirit living and abiding in us,

  301. we can't discern what are spirits of God and what

  302. are spirits of this world? Amen. And we'll open the

  303. door to the wrong spirit and won't understand and won't

  304. have a knowledge and an understanding of what's going on

  305. and what's wreaking havoc in our life. David said this,

  306. He says, he says, I will not set any evil

  307. thing before mine eyes. Why, David, understand good? The things

  308. that we allow in to our life carry spirits with them. Amen.

  309. Everything in life has some type of spirit attached to it. Amen.

  310. All right, trying to figure out which rabbits chase because

  311. I got about five in my sights right now? All right,

  312. I'm gonna go back to the verse. Let's focus verse seventeen.

  313. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive. Amen.

  314. His spirit infills us, He empowers us, He anoints us,

  315. He is leading us the church. You and I we

  316. are empowered by the pouring out of his spirit. We

  317. are anointed by the oil of the spirit to perform

  318. the work he has called us to do. If you

  319. want to know further about the Spirit of God, read

  320. and study Roman chapter eight. I don't have time to

  321. go to eight. Read about the Spirit of God. And

  322. so we have these two trees, the relationship between Jesus

  323. and the Church and relationship between the Holy ghosts and

  324. the Church. We have this representation in this vision of

  325. how these two trees are constantly pouring in. And another translation,

  326. and another and commentary. They said that word that they

  327. use for bold also can be interchanged with fountain, a

  328. fountain constantly flowing out, constantly pouring out. Amen. Why the vision?

  329. Why show this lampstand. Amen. I believe God was trying

  330. to give us a picture of the church. He was

  331. trying to give us this picture that once there was

  332. a lamp stand that needed man to make sure that

  333. it would always stay lit. And he said, but now

  334. I've called the church to be a light. And all

  335. I'm gonna ask you to do is be my witnesses.

  336. All I'm gonna ask you to do is reach for

  337. the lost. All I'm gonna do is be my hands

  338. and feet. And you're not gonna worry. You're not gonna

  339. have to worry about trim and the lamps. And you're

  340. not gonna worry about refilling the oil, he says, because

  341. I've already taken care of that. And he says, I'm

  342. gonna constantly fill the fountain. I'm gonna make sure that

  343. the fountain of the Holy Ghost is constantly full of

  344. anointing oil. I'm gonna make sure, amen, and that peace

  345. never stops. I'm gonna make sure that the fountain is

  346. always flowing. Why. Because I've called my church to do

  347. a great big task, Amen. And I'm not calling you

  348. to do this great big task without giving you the

  349. tools to do it. With without giving you the anointing

  350. to do it with. Hey, man, you're never gonna have

  351. to worry about having enough anointing to fulfill my purpose. Why,

  352. he says, because I've placed this constant flow of the

  353. anointing of the Holy Ghost to flow over the Church

  354. of the Living God. That every day, Amen, there's gonna

  355. be anointing oil. Every day you step out of your house,

  356. You're going to be anointed to fulfill my purpose. You're

  357. never gonna have to wonder, am I anointed today? Is

  358. there enough oil in the lamp. There's always enough oil

  359. in the lamp to keep you anointed to do His work. Man,

  360. hallelu hallelujah. There is an anointing of His spirit attached

  361. to the church. The fountain stays full, which means it's

  362. continually and constantly pouring out. This is why his mercies

  363. are new every day. This is why his grace is sufficient.

  364. Why because it never stops its flow over the church. Hallelujah.

  365. There is a divine benefit to being a part of

  366. a church and being a part of the church. Being

  367. a part of a church is like you being a

  368. part of life city church. Being a part of the

  369. church is being a part of the Church of the

  370. Living God. Amen, and there is divine benefit. Zachariah four

  371. and six. This is the most popular, most known verse

  372. in all of Sachariah. He says, so he answered, and

  373. he said to me, this is the word of the

  374. Lord to Zerubrabyl, and probably next week, because there's more

  375. to this chapter that I can't get to. I don't

  376. have the time. And I promised Tiffany that if she

  377. the longer she went, the shorter I'd go. So I'm

  378. trying to keep my word the best I can. It's

  379. not working out much. Zerubabyle is is another representation of

  380. the Church. But he says, not by might nor by power,

  381. but by my spirit, says the Lord of Host. The

  382. truth is, God doesn't need us. He wants us. This vision,

  383. the candlesticks, the trees, the oil, the bowl, the fountain,

  384. the church used to give light. We are the light

  385. of the world, the light of the world.

  386. The thing is this, I've often thought at times in

  387. my life that the light went out in my life.

  388. But when I read this, I realize, no, that's not

  389. the case. I just quit holding it up. I can't

  390. snuff out a light that I don't produce. Amen, like

  391. the old Sunday is ghost song. I can hunder, I

  392. hide it under a bushel, but it doesn't blow it out.

  393. You know why, because the oil of the Lord is

  394. constantly flowing. And as long as there's oil, there's light. Amen.

  395. As long as the oil of the Holy Ghost is flowing,

  396. the light of God is shining Amen. And his spirit

  397. is moving here today. Amen, That oil of anointing is

  398. moving here today. Feel an anointing for certain things you

  399. feel called, you feel anointed. Don't ever doubt what God

  400. has called you to do. Amen. If He's anointed you

  401. to do it, act in servanthood, in obedience to do it. Why,

  402. because it's in our mind. It's such a small thing

  403. to hold a light. Kill these floods right here. Threw

  404. them off there. There wasn't ready for that one. Amen.

  405. Can we turn them off? Everybody got a phone, Get

  406. your phone out. It's the only time you don't your

  407. pastors say that much. Do you get your phone out?

  408. Wherever your flashlight is, turn it on. It's like a

  409. concert here we go. Doesn't that feel such like a

  410. small thing to turn the light on and hold it up,

  411. Such a small thing to hold a light that's all

  412. to look for something. It's about as big as and

  413. I can use it. I do this sometimes when I'm

  414. studying late at night and the family's are in bed

  415. and all the lights are off. I'm reading my Bible

  416. like this. Amen. This feels like such a small thing,

  417. but it's such a powerful thing to hold the light

  418. of Jesus Christ. It's such a big thing, such a

  419. mighty big thing, to bring light into darkness. Man, And

  420. that's what we're called to do. But you see, the Lord,

  421. the light of God is different from this because all

  422. I have to do is do that to turn it off.

  423. His light never shuts off. Hallelujah. Won't you stand with me? Hallelujah.

  424. You can keep those lights off. You don't have to

  425. turn them back on. Amen. As we were singing and worshiping,

  426. I felt the oil of the Holy Spirit begin to

  427. move through this place. I not only felt it, but

  428. I opened my eyes and I watched it move. And

  429. he began to flow from person to person, row to row,

  430. seat to see and I watched as people begin to

  431. respond to that function of the spirit. Because he began

  432. to move, Hallelujah pouring out. I know this man what

  433. he showed Zachariah. In this vision, there is this constant flow,

  434. this constant supply of His power, of his anointing, of

  435. the covering of his name. Amen. See this is why

  436. it's so important to be a part of the church,

  437. because when you're a part of the Church, you put

  438. yourself in the supply line of the flow of His

  439. power and his annointy. A man, Jesus called it a

  440. branch and a vine. He says, as long as the

  441. branch is attached to the vine, there's fruitfulness and there's growth.

  442. But when the branch becomes separated from the vine, the

  443. branch dies. Being a part of the Church gives life

  444. and makes life more abundantly. Amen. It gives power to

  445. overcome sin. It gives power to overcome and understand what's

  446. coming against us, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood,

  447. but against powersess and spirits. Amen. But it also gives

  448. us the understanding that greater is he that is in

  449. me than he that is in the world. Hallelujah. Amen.

  450. The power of the Holy Ghost is in this place

  451. right now. And if you've felt like at any point

  452. that you've lost your way, that you've got distracted or

  453. you feel like you've removed yourself from the flow of

  454. the spirit. Today's an opportunity to step back into the

  455. supply of the oil of anointing. It's an opportunity to

  456. lift your voice, lift your life, open your life, and say, Lord,

  457. I am in need of you, and I'm asking you

  458. today to fill me. I wonder if we would close

  459. our eyes all over this building. Halle hallelu in the

  460. mighty name of Jesus.
