  1. Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate

  2. what God is doing and what protects us. Our vision

  3. is to reach the hungry, the hurdy, and the hopeless.

  4. God has given us our heading. Join us today as

  5. we listen to the Word and we pray that God

  6. speaks to you in this message.

  7. I'm glad that you're here. Amen. Amen. Isn't the Lord good? Amen?

  8. I just have one thing I want to ask you

  9. today as we look at the word of the Lord

  10. and I share with you what I feel the Lord

  11. is shared with me. I just ask you to be obedient,

  12. not to me let me clarify, but to the unction,

  13. to the urging, to the nudging, to the voice of

  14. the Spirit. Today, that's all I ask. If you will

  15. obey his voice. Amen, He'll move, hallelujah. I made a

  16. promise a few weeks ago not to try and make

  17. certain commands and service, and I've done decently in my

  18. own opinion. The reason that is is, I don't want

  19. this to be a Simon says Church. Amen, even though

  20. my name isn't Simon. I don't want this to be

  21. you responding because I asked you to Amen. That's not organic. Amen.

  22. Hallelujah.

  23. I want you to respond and feel the liberty. That's

  24. the key. Feel the liberty to respond to the nudging

  25. and the voice of the spirit because you feel him

  26. speaking and you feel him nudging, and because it's just

  27. an organic response to what you feel God moving you

  28. to do. Amen. That's what I want. Amen. And when

  29. that kind of when there is a obedience to the

  30. move and the word of God in any gathering, whether

  31. it's on a Sunday or a Thursday or a Wednesday,

  32. it doesn't matter. When there's that organic response of obedience,

  33. he's able to move, and he's able to perform miracles,

  34. he's able to work. Amen. Lives are changed. Amen. When

  35. that happens. Amen. And so I would just urge you

  36. and ask you just that's all I hope for. Amen.

  37. All right. So, last Sunday we celebrated his resurrection. It

  38. was Easter. We talked about your own resurrection. Wednesday. This

  39. past Wednesday evening we looked at a conversation between Jesus

  40. and Mary after his resurrection. Today, I want to look

  41. at what Jesus talked to the disciples about before his ascension. Amen.

  42. That's what I want to do. Amen. You guys right

  43. here getting blinded by this light? Aren't you all right here?

  44. We got I know it's gonna mess up our national

  45. televised broadcast, but that's all right, everybody like right here's going? Amen?

  46. Sorry about that, avl Amen. Let's go to the Book

  47. of Acts. I like this book Acts, Chapter one, verse one.

  48. If we're gonna start somewhere, let's just start at the

  49. beginning Acts. Chapter one, Verse one says the former account

  50. I made, oh, Theophilis. I've always loved that name. If

  51. there is ever a Bible, that is the coolest name.

  52. If I had a son, my wife would have not

  53. let me name him Theophilis. I would have tried, though

  54. the former account I made O Theophilus of all that

  55. Jesus began both to do and teach verse two until

  56. the day in which he was taken up, after he,

  57. through the Holy Spirit, had given commandments to the apostles

  58. whom he had chosen verse three, to whom also or

  59. to whom he also presented himself alive after his suffering

  60. by many infallible proofs, basically saying, look, there's the holes

  61. in my hands, there's the holes in my feet where

  62. they pierced me. Those are the proofs that he made.

  63. This last phrase, this last little sentence is where our

  64. focus is going to be today, being seen by them

  65. during forty days. So he spent forty days after his

  66. resurrection and before his ascension, he spent it with his disciples.

  67. There were some things that took place in there, speaking

  68. things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Amen, we're gonna

  69. talk about the Kingdom of God, hallelujah. Verse three is

  70. where I want to dive in, especially that phrase speaking

  71. of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. We

  72. all know what pertaining means. It means concerning a certain subject.

  73. It's about, it's touching a topic. Is what that word

  74. pertaining means. So he was talking to them concerning or

  75. about or touching this topic of the Kingdom of God.

  76. But that word kingdom, that's where I want to hone

  77. in on. I will admit that there have been for

  78. the most part of my life, I thought that he

  79. was talking to them about heaven. But as I begin

  80. to dig, and I'm not saying he didn't talk to

  81. them about heaven, I believe he did. But as I

  82. begin to look at that word kingdom, it presented a

  83. whole new meaning of this phrase speaking of the things

  84. pertaining to the Kingdom of God. The use of the

  85. word kingdom here in this phrase is really not actually

  86. talking about an actual kingdom for that or where New

  87. Testament was written in Greek because between the Gospels, Alexander

  88. the Great came through and conquered that area of the world,

  89. and so in his conquering everybody, they began to the

  90. schools and all of that began to teach Greek. So

  91. that's why the New Testament was written in Greek. The

  92. Greek word for kingdom is basilia bassilia, and this is

  93. what it means. This is what was interesting to me.

  94. It means a royal power, a royal power. It means dominion, rule,

  95. and authority is what that word kingdom basilia means. And

  96. so if we take that meaning from that Greek word

  97. is our reference point. Jesus wasn't talking to the Deciple

  98. peoples about an actual kingdom of heaven or a kingdom

  99. on earth. He was talking to them about his power

  100. and his dominion and his authority, the authority of heaven

  101. on earth, the power of Heaven on earth. Amen, that's

  102. what he was talking to them about. It wasn't not

  103. necessarily the physical or spiritual kingdom of Heaven, as we

  104. think a kingdom like the kingdom of ancient days. But

  105. he was talking to them about his rule and authority. Amen.

  106. So let me show you a little bit here of

  107. how this plays out, Matthew, Chapter four, verse seventeen. Jesus

  108. is speaking here, and from that time Jesus begins to say,

  109. pen for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Leave

  110. that up. That word kingdom here is the same Bassilia

  111. word as an acts one, which changes the meaning of

  112. this to make it even more powerful. What Jesus wasn't

  113. saying necessarily, if we follow the explanation of the of

  114. we follow the wording and the definition of the wording.

  115. He wasn't saying repent for the actual Kingdom of Heaven

  116. is at hand, to where as in revelation the Kingdom

  117. of Heaven would come and rule on the earth. That's

  118. not what he was talking about. He was basically telling

  119. them repent for the one who has the power to

  120. forgive is here. Amen. You remember when they let the

  121. feller down through the roof, and he looked at them,

  122. and they let him down because he needed healing, right John,

  123. he let him down because he needed healing. And they

  124. Jesus him and he commended their faith. But then he

  125. spoke to the man. He says, your sins be forgiven.

  126. And they were all flabbergasted. How can he forgive sins?

  127. Only God can forgive sins? And you know what they were, right, Amen.

  128. Jesus looked, he heard them, and he understood their thoughts,

  129. and he says, he says, what is it easier to

  130. heal than it is to forgive sin? And so here

  131. Jesus says, repent for the one who has authority over sin,

  132. dominion over sin is standing before you. Amen. It wasn't

  133. an actual kingdom. It was a kingdom of power and

  134. authority and rule and reign. Amen. That's what Jesus was

  135. talking to the disciples about. He spent forty days telling

  136. them how to use his power, how to walk in

  137. his power and his authority. Amen. Because he understood they

  138. were men, and men is a general term. I'm not

  139. talking about just a man men women alike. Men have

  140. Let me say this, mankind, okay? Does that make everybody

  141. feel comfortable? Mankind? Mankind has the tendency to abuse, power

  142. and authority. Jesus, understanding this, says how to walk. So

  143. he spends forty days with them, and this is important

  144. to understand because it brings a different understanding of what

  145. they were doing. In these forty days. Jesus was talking

  146. about his power and authority. Why why was this so important?

  147. Because of what we find in Acts Chapter one in

  148. verse eight. Pull that up Acts one in eight he says,

  149. but you shall receive power. Everyone say power. Amen. After

  150. when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you're

  151. going to be witnesses unto me a man in Jerusalem

  152. and in Judea and Samaria, and to the end of

  153. the earth. Amen. His time together with his disciples was

  154. to prepare them to teach and to preach the power, dominion,

  155. and authority of the Holy Ghost. Amen. They were going

  156. to be walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.

  157. They needed to know how to walk in the power

  158. of the Holy Ghost. They needed they needed to understand

  159. what it means to be led by the Spirit. They

  160. needed to understand what it means to hear the voice

  161. of the Spirit. They needed to understand what it means

  162. to yield that hour and that authority on a daily

  163. basis because we have a tendency to abuse those kind

  164. of things. And so he was bringing an understanding to

  165. them of how to walk by the spirit and after

  166. the spirit. Amen. And I believe the same thing is

  167. needed today. Amen. We need teaching and preaching of how water. Amen.

  168. The Holy Ghost is still being poured out. Amen. The

  169. prophet Joel's statement of I will pour out all flesh,

  170. I will pour my spirit upon all flesh has not

  171. been completed yet. As long as there are people that

  172. have not been baptized in the power of the Spirit

  173. of God, that prophecy is still alive and relevant, Amen.

  174. And it's still needed in our life today. There is

  175. a need for the Spirit of God to be poured

  176. out upon people every single day. Amen. And so it's

  177. relevant for the teaching and the preaching. And so he

  178. was speaking of the things pertaining to the royal power, authority,

  179. and rule of God. And this was all going to

  180. be possible in men and through men by the baptism

  181. of the Holy Spirit Verses four through five of Acts One.

  182. And being assembled together with them, he commanded them to

  183. not depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise

  184. of the Father, which he said, you have heard from me.

  185. I've talked about it. I've told you about it, I've

  186. instructed you. Verse five says for John truly baptized with water,

  187. talking about John the Baptist, you shall be baptized with

  188. the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Amen. And

  189. so he needed to spend that time with them to

  190. instruct them to bring understanding. Amen. I've wondered as the church.

  191. When I say, I'm not speaking of any one specific church,

  192. has the church forgot how to walk after the Spirit? Amen?

  193. The reason I asked that question is because if we

  194. we're walking after the spirit, I believe there are things

  195. that we would see that we aren't seeing. I still

  196. believe in miracle, signs and wonders. Amen. I still believe

  197. he's a healer and he can heal. I still believe

  198. that on the laying of hands miracles can take place.

  199. I still believe that spirits can be spoke to and

  200. be cast out. I believe in that authority. Amen. And

  201. if the Church of the Living God isn't using that authority,

  202. we need to go back and start talking about the

  203. things pertaining to the rule of head. Aren't talking about

  204. and studying and teaching and preaching and speaking and praying

  205. about the things pertaining to the power and authority of

  206. God Almighty. Amen. Because we are overcomers, Amen. So why

  207. aren't we living overcomers? Amen? And so I believe the

  208. church needs to get back to that. Let's go to

  209. Acts chapter eight. I want to show you something. Hallelujah,

  210. Acts chapter eight. But when they believed Philip as he

  211. preached the things sounds very familiar concerning the Kingdom of

  212. God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and

  213. women were baptized. So Philip goes and he starts preaching

  214. the things concerning the power of God, the authority of God,

  215. the Gospel message. He starts preaching this. He starts telling

  216. them they can have forgiveness of sins. He starts telling

  217. them they can be washed by the waters of baptism.

  218. He starts telling them that they can live an overcoming life,

  219. that they don't have to bow to sin, that they

  220. can live a life without sin. Amen. And they believe him.

  221. Imagine that they believed him. And then Simon himself also believed.

  222. This is God's telling you about And when he was baptized,

  223. he continued with Philip and was amazed seeing the miracles

  224. and signs which were done. Verse fourteen. Now, when the

  225. apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria, Oh, Samaria,

  226. that place, those people that loved the Jews didn't like them.

  227. They liked it when they heard that Samaria had received

  228. the word of God. You see this is there's a

  229. key in that verse right there. It doesn't say that

  230. when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria

  231. had been preached the word of God. It says had

  232. received the word of God. There's a big difference of

  233. the word of God being preached and the Word of

  234. God being received. Amen. You can be somewhere where the

  235. word God is preached and leave the same, But when

  236. you receive the Word of God, you're never the same. Amen.

  237. You can be somewhere where the spirit of God is

  238. moving and leave the same. When you receive the Spirit

  239. of God, your life is forever altered in that moment. Amen.

  240. And So when the disciples and the apostles heard that

  241. these people of Samaria had received the word of God,

  242. man send Peter and John go. And so Peter and

  243. John went, who when they had come down, that they

  244. might receive the Holy Spirit, for as yet he had

  245. fallen upon none of them, and they had only been

  246. baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, Verse seventeen.

  247. Then they laid hands on them and they received. They

  248. laid hands on them, and they received. Hallelujah. Amen. We

  249. as the Church, we are the continuation of the acts

  250. of the apostles and disciples that we find here. The

  251. preaching of the things concerning the power of God still

  252. must be preached. Amen. Do we believe that the things

  253. concerning His authority and His rule must be preached, They

  254. must be lived. They must be taught. Amen. And it's

  255. not only on platforms and behind pulpits amen. It must

  256. be lived every single day in us. Amen. Amen. We

  257. can't leave the preaching and the teaching and the living

  258. of the Spirit of God to platforms and pulpits Amen.

  259. It must go with you every place you go. Amen.

  260. You must carry the power of the Spirit with you,

  261. that power that changed your life, that power that altered

  262. your direction in your life. We must carry it. It

  263. must be carried by it been baptized in the name

  264. of Jesus. Every life that has been resurrected by the

  265. baptism of the Spirit of God. Amen. That's you. That's you.

  266. So here's a convicting question. Are you doing that?

  267. Hallelujah?

  268. Are you doing that? All right? So whatever your answer

  269. to that question is, let me serve up another question.

  270. If you're not, why not? Amen? Why not? Hallelujah. This

  271. world needs the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Amen. That's

  272. what this world needs. Why Because the baptism of the

  273. Spirit unlocks his power and his authority and his dominion

  274. and his reign in our life. Amen. There are things

  275. that can only be overcome by the power of the

  276. Spirit of God. Amen. There are things that we have

  277. no authority over until we are filled with the power

  278. of the Holy Spirit. Amen. That's why it's necessary today. Amen.

  279. The Holy Spirit is still being poured out day. Do

  280. we believe that? Amen? There is still a need in

  281. this world for that new birth exp spirits. Amen, hallelujah.

  282. Fifty days after the ascension of Jesus, the Holy Spirit

  283. is poured out the day of Pentecost. Pentecost means fifty

  284. fifty days after his ascension or after his resurrection resurition.

  285. The Holy Spirit is poured out and it hasn't stopped.

  286. It hasn't stopped, It hasn't dried up, It hasn't lost power.

  287. It hasn't lost an ounce of authority. It hasn't lost

  288. an ounce of its ability to change lives. Amen. It's

  289. still just as powerful today as it was that day

  290. in Jerusalem when it fell on one hundred and twenty

  291. gathered in the upper room, Amen. It still has the

  292. power to influence cities. It can influence the city of Weatherford,

  293. just like it did the city of Jerusalem. Amen. And

  294. it can be preached in homes, just like it was

  295. preached in the home of a gentile man named Cornelius,

  296. and his entire family received the spirit of God because

  297. a man named Peter stood there. That can still happen today. Amen.

  298. That needs to happen today. Amen, because his power is

  299. life changing. Amen. It's not just something that we do.

  300. This is not just something for those that refer to

  301. themselves as Pentecostal. Pentecostal is nothing but an experience of

  302. the new birth of the Holy Spirit. Amen. That's all

  303. it is. Amen. John five, Jesus says most assuredly, I

  304. say to you, unless one is born of water and

  305. the Spirit, he cannot enter into the power and authority

  306. of God. Right changes the way it reads, doesn't it. Amen.

  307. Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he

  308. is not gonna walk in the heavenly places. Right. Unless

  309. one is born of water and the Spirit, he is

  310. not gonna have the power, the authority, and the dominion

  311. of God available. Amen. There is a place of authority

  312. and power that is only available through the baptism of

  313. the Holy Spirit in your life. Amen, Because the baptism

  314. of His Spirit carries with it and anointing. Amen. It's

  315. an anointing of an overcoming spirit. Amen. That empowers you

  316. to prevail over every enemy. Amen. That empowers you to

  317. conquer every territory that God directs you into. Amen. There's

  318. not a place where the Spirit of God can't yield

  319. its authority through you. We are the tenth Spirit. Amen.

  320. Every place our feet step, the Holy Spirit goes with

  321. us and before us. And so when we walk into

  322. a place, we are walking in the spirit of the

  323. Living God. And as we walk in the Spirit of

  324. the Living God, we walk in His authority. Amen. I

  325. want my wife to come. Hallelujah, hallelujah.

  326. Yeah.

  327. That authority, the Spirit of God gives us the authority

  328. to loose and bind in the name of Jesus. Whatever

  329. you bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever you

  330. lose on earth is loosed in heaven. Amen. Understanding this

  331. word kingdom, doesn't it change the Lord's prayer? Thy Kingdom Come,

  332. Thy Power, Come, Thy Authority, Come, Thy Rule Come, Amen,

  333. Thymnion Come. Isn't that what we want? We want his

  334. power to come. We want his authority to come. We

  335. want his rule to come. Amen, Thy Kingdom Come, Thy

  336. will be done.

  337. Amen.

  338. On earth, as it is in heaven, a kingdom authority

  339. is mediated by the Holy Spirit. It's through the authority

  340. of the indwelling Spirit of God you're able to speak peace,

  341. be still to the storm, and it listens.

  342. Why that authority, that dominion, that only happens by the

  343. power of the Spirit of God.

  344. Inside of us.

  345. Would you stand with me?

  346. Hallelujah.

  347. There's no reason, there's no reason why any of us

  348. should leave this place bound, fearful, shameful. Why because the

  349. Spirit of God is in this place.

  350. Hallelujah.

  351. Amen, What have you used that authority for? Have you

  352. used it at all? Amen? Be this building without seeing

  353. a change in your life, because His spirit is still

  354. filling lives.

  355. Hallelujah.

  356. His spirit is still empowering, still moving, still directing, still teaching, heymen,

  357. still changing the hurting to heal, the hopeless to hope,

  358. and the hungry to fulfilled. Hey man, That's what his

  359. spirit is doing every single day. So why not you?

  360. Why not you? What do you need the Spirit to

  361. do in your life today?

  362. Hallelujah, hallelujah.

  363. Whatever it is, why don't you just begin to talk

  364. to him right now? Why don't you call on the

  365. Lord right now?

  366. Hallelujah.

  367. Is there's something in your life that you need to

  368. exercise authority over, begin to speak in the mighty name

  369. of Jesus, hallelujah. The Kingdom of God is in this place.

  370. The power of God is in this place. Hallelujah. His

  371. authority is here. You don't have to leave bound by

  372. fear and anxiety. Hallelujah. You can live and you can

  373. leave here free.
