Welcome to Life City. This podcast was created to celebrate
-
what God is doing and what protects us. Our vision
-
is to reach the hungry, the hurdy, and the hopeless.
-
God has given us our heading. Join us today as
-
we listen to the Word and we pray that God
-
speaks to you in this message.
-
You can be seated.
-
Amen. I'm not gonna take much time.
-
Because I feel like the Lord's already done a work
-
this morning and so, but today is freedom Sunday, and
-
I'm thankful.
-
For our freedom, amen.
-
Aren't you?
-
Hallelu Thankful for not only our physical freedom to be
-
able to come into a building and worship without fear
-
of anybody coming in and trying to shut us down.
-
Amen.
-
And truth be told, Lord's been good to me that,
-
even as the thunder rolls, if somebody was to come
-
in and try to shut me down, they couldn't shut
-
me up, Amen, because God has been too good to me.
-
Amen, hallelujah.
-
But I am glad that we don't have to worry
-
about that, and I plan on doing whatever I can
-
to make sure that continues, that we continue to have
-
that freedom, Amen. Because this is the thing. Freedom comes
-
at a cost. There's always a cost for freedom. Freedom
-
is not free, Amen. Whether you pay that price, or
-
I pay that price, or somebody else pays that price,
-
there is always a price for freedom.
-
Amen.
-
And today, this weekend we celebrated and Friday there was
-
fireworks across this great nation and there was people, you know, excited,
-
spending time on lakes and spending time with family and
-
friends and all of the things that normally happens.
-
And people bought sparklers, and they.
-
Bought fireworks, they bought bought things that go boom and
-
things that that you know, do all kinds of crazy stuff.
-
Why and celebration of freedom, that's what it is.
-
And when we look back.
-
At how all that took place, it took place because
-
people were willing to fight to be free. Long before
-
you and I were ever brought into the imagination of
-
your parents or their parents, years and years and years
-
and years and years ago, there was a group of
-
people that was tired of living under tyranny. There was
-
a there was a there was people that were tired
-
of living bound and restrained, and they decided, we're going
-
to do something about it.
-
We're gonna taketion.
-
Amen.
-
Sometimes when you want to be free.
-
It means you got to take action, amen, And so
-
they took action, and we have in our history books
-
what happened, and you can go and do all that.
-
I'm not going to give you a history lesson today, Amen.
-
But as we won our freedom all those years ago,
-
there still remained a problem. The problem was this, there
-
were people that were here living in this country that
-
still desired to live in what they had been freed from.
-
There was people still desiring and living their life like
-
they were under the rule of a king.
-
Man.
-
And that was the colonial times and all of that.
-
That was the struggle is because you had a large
-
group of the people that were excited to be out
-
from the king of England.
-
But there were still some that craved.
-
The restraints of tyranny because that's all they had ever known.
-
And spiritually, I see this very same thing happen as
-
Jesus came and paid the price.
-
Remember there's always a price.
-
Luckily for us, by his grace and his mercy, we
-
didn't have to pay the price for our sin.
-
He paid it for us, Amen, and he set us free. Amen.
-
But yet we have people that desire and crave the
-
restraints of the tyranny of sin more than they love.
-
Walking and liberty and freedom. Amen. Amen.
-
And so as the church, it is our mission, not
-
even a job, it's our mission.
-
We like mission right. Me and my wife been watching
-
Mission Impossible.
-
Because the new one just come out, and and and
-
and I like that kind of action movies and and
-
like daredevil stuff. That's that's I love that kind of stuff.
-
But I'm too old to do it now. So I
-
got to live vicariously through Tom Cruise, and so I
-
think he's actually older than I am. It's a sad situation.
-
I probably need to think before I speak, but never
-
had before. So why start now?
-
Man? But we have a mission. That's where I was
-
before I chase that squirrel.
-
We have a mission. The mission of the church it
-
to shine the light in the darkness because the darkness
-
is binding.
-
Amen.
-
The darkness is binding. Amen. I want let's see let me.
-
Peyton come here, And that's exactly why come up here?
-
Stand right here, jac This is a motley crew, isn't it? London?
-
Who else?
-
Who else?
-
Let me think? You? Uh?
-
Paxton? Come on?
-
All right?
-
So this is the deal. Okay, So what I want
-
you guys to do is you have to devise.
-
A plan.
-
To make one, thank you. You have to make you
-
have to come up with a plan. You have to
-
come up with the plan of how best you're gonna
-
restrain my hands. Okay, So take this and you guys
-
go there and get in the huddle and figure out
-
how your best gonna bind my hands and keep me bound.
-
All right, you guys talk amongst yourself, figure it out.
-
Amen.
-
So I want you to see something. What they're doing
-
right now is fun. But this happens every day that
-
you open your eyes. The enemy is devising a plan
-
how to keep you bound. The enemy is consulting itself
-
and all of the spirits of hell to try and
-
figure out how that day it can keep you bound
-
and restrained and stop you from walking in the freedom
-
and the liberty that God has.
-
Set you in.
-
Amen. Amen.
-
And they're very serious about it, almost as serious as
-
Peyton is right now.
-
I mean, he is invested in this. I may regret this, Dwayne,
-
I may regret this.
-
Amen.
-
You guys have a plan. Yes, all right? Are you ready?
-
All right?
-
Hold on?
-
Let mean all right, yeah, all right, you're pumped about this,
-
aren't you. Peyton.
-
You're excited about this. Yeah, all right, yeah, what very what?
-
Oh?
-
I have no clue what the eman?
-
He said?
-
All right, you guys ready, okay, here we go, all right,
-
go ahead, Hey, no comments from the peanut gallery.
-
Are they doing it right?
-
Peyton? Okay, all right.
-
I feel like like this.
-
Okay, yeah, all right, Uh, you need to do better
-
than that. I could pull my hands apart. Oh okay,
-
I'm sorry, Okay, all right, you you know you guys
-
need you guys, the boys to get in here and
-
get involved.
-
I think I think I may lose a digit.
-
Actually, you're yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's a supervisor. What well,
-
I'm do what you gotta do? Bro, Desperate times calls
-
for desperate measures, I said, Bro to my I said bra,
-
I shaid Brah.
-
I forgot.
-
I'm too old. Remember it was bro back in my day.
-
Now it's huh? Is that good? Still working? All right? Okay,
-
you're good? All right?
-
You feel confident about your restraints?
-
Not really? So let's see.
-
Yeah, I don't feel confident in it either. Yeah, you
-
want to try, you want you wanna give it a whirl.
-
Your sister just added you out.
-
He quit.
-
We just started a sibling rivalry across the room.
-
She just she just completely ratted you out.
-
That's what little sisters are for. Though, you guys need
-
to reconvene. Okay, I think that's good. Yoll We'll just
-
go with that. You ready, do they? Okay?
-
Do what you gotta do.
-
Study long, study wrong. How confidence do you have in this?
-
Not you probably?
-
Actually no, I haven't all right, We're good?
-
Were good? All right? Hold on?
-
What all right?
-
What do you guys thinking?
-
You all right?
-
Thank you guys?
-
Can you guys can have a seat?
-
Thank you?
-
So you see, this is the deal is. The enemy
-
tries to do this every single day. He devises plans,
-
he considers your past. The Bible tells us that he
-
is an accuser of the brethren. And you know why
-
he is so adamant and so faithful with his accusations
-
because he wants to keep you bound in the things
-
of your past.
-
He wants to keep.
-
You rashined from walking in the freedom that God has
-
for you.
-
He wants to keep you out of the will of God.
-
He wants to keep you from walking in his peace
-
and in his joy.
-
Because the joy of the Lord is our strength.
-
And as long as he can keep your hands restraint
-
and keep them from being about your father's business. He
-
is able to stop you from walking in the abundant
-
life that God has for you. The thief came, Jesus said,
-
The thief came to steal, keel and destroy. He said,
-
but I have come that you may have life, and
-
you may have it more abundantly.
-
Amen.
-
And you cannot live an abundant life in restraints.
-
Only the liberating power.
-
Of Jesus Christ set you free. And can you walk
-
in that power? You walk in that dominion and that authority.
-
We were talking the last several weeks, we were talking
-
about the miracles of Jesus. And I was thinking this
-
morning about when Jesus was confronted with a man that
-
was possessed of devils, and he came out of the
-
caves and he came running, and nobody could constrain this
-
guy because he was just he was just full of devils.
-
And as he finds his way to Jesus, the devils
-
speak up and they call Jesus by name. You see,
-
even the spirits that try to bind you, and even
-
when they're successful, they still know and bow to the
-
authority of Jesus Christ.
-
Amen.
-
And they said, what do you have to do with us?
-
They said, don't just cast us out, send us into something.
-
And so there were a bunch of pigs, and they said,
-
just cast us into those pigs. And all Jesus had
-
to say was go. That's all he had to say. Go,
-
And that man was set free.
-
Amen.
-
All right, Dwayne, come here. No, I'm gonna ask you
-
to either untie it or take that knife out of
-
my pouch and cut me free.
-
Ah.
-
Thank you. Shake that Amen.
-
You did a good job.
-
Good job girls.
-
Painting and packston. You guys had involvement too, thank you. Amen. Yeah,
-
they were the brains. The girls did the work.
-
Amen.
-
All he said was go. I want to tell you
-
something about the power of the name of Jesus, the
-
things that bind you.
-
Amen.
-
I believe in pleading the blood of Jesus. I believe
-
whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever
-
we loose on earth is loose in Heaven.
-
I believe in.
-
Those scriptures and I practice them on a regular basis.
-
Amen.
-
But there are sometimes where we need to tell spirits
-
that are coming against our homes and our lives and
-
our minds, trying to restrain us.
-
We need to tell them to go.
-
Amen.
-
You need to tell that spirit of fear to go.
-
When you feel it coming and you feel it attacking you,
-
and you feel it restricting you, you can speak in
-
the name of Jesus, go, and you know what it
-
has to obey.
-
Amen.
-
The spirit of doubt and oppression and depression, and the
-
spirit of darkness, and the spirit of wounds and hurts
-
and things that have been done to us. When those
-
things try to come against you and bind you and hold,
-
all you have to do is say, in the name
-
of Jesus, go.
-
Man. That's it. That's the authority.
-
That we have. Galatians. Paul wrote to the Galatian Church.
-
They don't have this. I'm gonna just read it real quick. Galatians,
-
Chapter five, Verse one. Paul says, stand fast therefore in
-
the life liberty, where Christ has made us free, and
-
be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. What
-
Paul was saying is, you've already been set free. Don't
-
return to the cage that He delivered you out of.
-
Don't return to the prison that he already ripped the
-
doors off. Don't stand in that entanglement, in that yoke
-
of bondage.
-
You don't have to live bound.
-
Jesus has set you free. Amen. I want my wife
-
to come. John.
-
Bring up the Book of John John chapter eight. Jesus
-
is speaking. And then he said to those Jews who
-
believed him, if you abide in my word, you are
-
my disciples.
-
Indeed verse thirty two.
-
And you shall know the truth and the truth, His truth,
-
the truth that he is, the Way, the truth, and
-
the life.
-
Amen.
-
Truth shall make you free.
-
Amen.
-
I've talked to people before that, well, you know, I'm
-
not addicted to this or to that. I'm not bound
-
by this or that.
-
Man.
-
Sin, at one time in our life has bound us
-
all as human nature sin had us bound.
-
Amen. Jesus came, died, was buried, and rose again that.
-
We can live free, that sin would have no more
-
minion over you. That the spirit of darkness has no
-
place dwelling in the light. In fact, it cannot dwell
-
with the light.
-
Aymen.
-
So as you stand with me this morning, hallelujah. On
-
this freedom weekend weekend where we celebrate our liberties, we
-
celebrate the cost of freedom, the price that was paid
-
for our freedom. We all are presented every single day
-
with the choice. Am I going to choose to live free?
-
Being free and living free, as I said, are two
-
different things. We all are free, every one of us.
-
He didn't die just for life city. He died for
-
every man and woman. The whole world is free.
-
But how many lived that way?
-
How many live free?
-
We as the Church, we need to live free.
-
Not bound by anything, not restrained by anything, not hindered.
-
Hallelujah, hallelujah, because the sun is set free.
-
