Who gets your Hosanna? || Pastor Diego Mesa

Welcome to the ALSS podcast. Here at ALC, we seek the loss,

teach the found, and send the disciples. We truly hope you're encouraged by

this week's message. If I could do my job, it's just to compliment

the story of what's been told already. Would you stand on your feet for

the reading of God's word. And it goes like this that we've already been

ministered to you already or talked about on pop Sunday. When they approached Jerusalem

and came to beth Age at the Mount of Olives, Jesus then sent two

disciples, telling them to go into the village ahead. At once you will

find a donkey tied there with her cold Untie them and bring them to me.

If anyone says to you, excuse me. If anyone says anything to

you, say the Lord needs them, and he will send them at once.

This took place to This took place so that what was spoken through the

prophet might be fulfilled. Tell daughters, iion see your King is coming to

you gentle and mounted on a donkey and on a colt the full of a

donkey. Then disciples went and did just as Jesus directed them, they brought

the donkey and the colt, and then they laid their clothes on them,

and he sat on them. A very large crowds spread their clothes on the

road. Others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them on the road.

Then the crowds who went ahead of him and those who follow shouted,

let's say this word together, Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is

he who comes in the name of the Lord once again in the highest of

heaven. When they entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in an uproar,

saying what you may be seated, You know, I can't describe and you

weren't there the emotion of celebration, whether you want to relate it to the

Rose Parade held in Pasadena, or the Marty Grass New Orleans, or the

Macy's Parade that takes place, but there was an uproar that took place that

day. A few years ago, I was in Mexico City and I was

invited to a preseason game that was being held with the San Diego Chargers and

the Kansas City Chiefs. I was in the largest stadium in Mexico. It

sat one hundred and twenty thousand people by now they should have shown the pictures,

but did they show it. There we go, and so it was

rumbling, it was roaring. You cannot imagine one hundred and twenty thousand people

shouting as loud as they can, cheering for their team, and the stadium's

rocking. I don't know if it resembled that, but I know it won't

resemble when the Bible says, he shall descend with the shout, the voice

of the archangel and the trumpet of God, and he will come back for

his church, and at the marriage fel to the Lamb, he will be

crowned King of kings and Lord of lords, and we will shout forever more.

That's a celebration that I'm looking for. I may have not been there

for the first one, but I've made my reservations. Has anybody already made

their reservations for the next one that's going to take place in heaven? Three

things is Pastor Adam shared at the podcast that stood out to me. The

Bible says in the scripture that he wrote on a donkey, and I want

you to imagine for a moment, this donkey carrying Jesus and seeing the rows

and rows of people with clothes that they've spread on the road, and their

palm leaves swaying in the wind, and shouting at the top of their voice,

Hosanna. Now, the word Hosanna means please save us. Salvation is

the word healing, wholeness, preservation, and safety. All of us need

to be saved from our sins. But sometimes we need a healing, and

sometimes we need preservation, and sometimes we need wholeness, and sometimes we need

safety. So it's a broad word of salvation that Jesus offers. So they

were shouting out, Hosanna, please save us. But during this time in

the Old Testament, that's what it would mean. But now it is a

term of celebration. It's a term of adoration that they were giving. Can

you imagine if that donkey thought that all those hosannas were for himself rather than

for Jesus. I wonder how many people think that all the accolades that you

get are really for you rather than the Jesus who has gifted you, blessed

you, talented you, and given you things. And if we start taking

the glory, then you're probably not the donkey, but you're the asss and

maybe acting like one too. It'd be really full of of that donkey to

think that all that praise was for him, It was for the one that

was on his back. The second thing I recognized from the story is the

trek that took place. I don't know if you've ever been to Jerusalem,

but we have and we will go again. But there's Mount Olives that's on

a hill, and then it descends into the Garden of Yosemite, and then

you come through the Keyedron Valley, and then it ascends into the cities of

Jerusalem, the Eastern Gate, the Western Gate, whatever gate you're gonna come

through. And that was the three and that was the three three fourth quarter

of a mile that Jesus would have tracked almost one mile on that donkey with

his disciples around him to get to that point when he entered into Jerusalem,

where there may have been hundreds or thousands of people cheering at that time.

If Jesus passed by me, what would I have been saying at that moment?

Would I have been seeing him as the son of David, the King

of Kings, Would I have seen him as the Heaven's highest or would I

have been seeing him as a stranger, or what is this all about?

Or that last phrase, who is this? When he passed me by?

Would I have been awed and wowed far greater than I see any celebrity or

superstar of this world. This is the King of kings or Lord of lords?

Or would I've went home disappointed by what I saw? The next thing

I see is that when he wrote upon that donkey into the city, he

was fulfilling a prophecy, a Bible scripture that was given nearly five hundred years

before Jesus was born. And if I was of Jewish descent, I know

my old Testament, I would have memorized and studied Zachariah nine nine that says,

rejoice greatly, old daughter of Zion, shout o, daughter of Jerusalem.

Behold, your king is coming to you. He is just having salvation.

Oh my God, it's happening right now, lowly riding on a donkey,

a cold the full of a donkey. It's being manifested now. It's

coming to volition now. And God is a god that is faithful to his

word, and he's looking for a people that this hour will put their trust

in that word more than the trust of government, more than the trust of

medicine, more than the trust of politics, education, or anyone else narrative

of social media? Will I trust the word of God because the Bible says

heaven and her shall pass away, but my word shall never pass away.

I'm going to trust God. I'm not gonna trust man. My faith is

in what God promised, because he has a record of keeping his word and

bringing it to pass. That's what I would have felt that if I were

truly believed in Jesus as a Jewish person and a five what are the odds

of that prophecy coming to pass? Now? I want to launch very quickly

with a few moments I have in the four points today because the title of

my message is who gets your Hosanna praise today? Where is your Hosanna praise

directed toward today? Because you will be giving your Hosanna. You're crying out

save me to someone crying out celebration, adoration to something today. So it's

not like I'm not doing it. You're doing it. You just may not

be directed toward Christ. So who is going to get your Hosanna praise today?

The first point I want you to recognize is the fact that the devil

is trying to steal, and he's trying to sabotage your Hosanna praise. He

wants it to go to any other thing, any other person, any other

entity, event or activity other than Jesus. And the world gets mad when

you say that name. The word gets the world gets mad. When you

praise your God. The world says, praise the Devil, praise Mohammad,

Praise Holy Christiana, praise Islam, praise every other religion of the world.

But don't praise Christianity. Talk about sports, talk about athletic, talk about

lust, talk about entertainment. But I'm offended when you talk about Jesus Christ

as Lord and Savior. I believe in this hour I've seen it more than

I've seen it ever before. The devil is trying to steal Christian praise.

Today. He's trying to steal the praise out of your mouth. And he's

gonna use every circumstance, every situation, every condition. He's gonna use every

heartache, he's gonna use every false ambition, every lust to get you to

stop praising God. And I've seen so many Christians that were once praisers of

God they let their hands down, and the voice has been toned down and

tuned down and shushed and shut up, and we're not praising God like we

once did. Here's what the Bible says when it talks about what I'm talking

about. So some of the pharisees called to him from the crowd and says,

teacher, rebuke your does I basically tell them to shut up, rebuke

them, shut up, tone it down. It's not necessary. The problem

is is that the devil knows the power of a hosanna praise in our praise

life. But do we really understand it? See, because it is your

offensive game, and it is your defensive game, and you are vulnerable when

you lose your arsenal of understanding what praise is really all about. The Bible

says in Psalms eight to two, the offensive game praise silences the devil.

When you praise God, you shut the mouth of the devil. Because the

reality is is this once praise and worshiper called Lucifer cannot praise God ever again.

And He's going to ensure and do everything in his power making your life

with hardships and difficulties that you will not praise God since he can't praise God.

And then the Bible says, put on the garment of praise for the

spirit of heaviness. That's your defensive weapon to keep the heaviness of this world

off of you. Two times in the Bible, the Bible says, send

the tribe of Judah. Judah means praise. Send the tribe of Judah into

war first before us. And when you're going into battle, send your praise.

Feel your battle, send your praise after the battle. Keep praising God.

Send your Judah of praise when you're in a battle. Why because it's

a weapon. And don't you shush and tune down and shut down your praise.

I don't care what's going on in your life or the devil wins at

the end of the day. Many many years ago, I was at a

quakes game with a member of the church, and we were enjoying the game,

but we also enjoyed conversations of sharing in our faith, sharing scripture,

sharing stories. We're just doing that, and how many of you know?

And sometimes you could get a little excited the void, your toney of your

voice can go up, and you almost forget where you're at because you're just

talking like that, and that's the way was going on. And a lady

that was sitting directly in front of us, she turned around. She stood

up, and then she turned around and she looked at me, since I

was the principal communicator, and she looked at me and she said, I

want you to know that I paid my money to watch this quake game.

And I did not pay this money to hear you preach about Jesus. So

i'd appreciate it if you begin to sh a little bit. Now. You

know, I could have been guilty, So I didn't want to offend.

I mean, maybe I was talking loud and wasn't you know, And so

I did tone it down. Didn't stop, but I did tone it down.

Now, this is the hard thing to deal with because then after that

inning was over, while the other inning was going to take place, the

little break that took place, she turned around again and she said, I

want you to know that I'm a Christian too. I found at that point

to slap her and knock her out. You know, it's one thing to

not be a believer a heathen and lost and be offended by my praise.

It's a whole nother thing to say you're a Christian and know Jesus as the

King of kings and Lord of lords and not want to praise him or think

it's not appropriate. And we live in a world right now, and especially

if there's anybody that's young today, the world's gonna tell you tone it down,

shut it off, and stop praising him, and you and I can't

be intimidated or influenced by that. The second thing that I recognize about what

happened that day was this, your Hosanna praise needs to be reckless abandonment that

you give to him. There needs to be at some time in your life,

because the scripture tells us as it refers to this reckless abandonment. Then

as he was now drawing near to the descent amount the whole multitude disciples,

they began to rejoice. They began to praise God with a loud voice for

all the mighty things they had done done. There was radical, reckless,

unfiltered praise. And they didn't care who heard them, and they didn't care

who saw them, and they didn't care what they look like. And I

want to challenge you today, Maybe not all the time, but there ought

to be some time where there is reckless abandonment. When I give glory,

honor, praise, adoration, exultation, everything within me shows God that I

love him and I honor him. Reckless abandonment, Well, pastor, I

appreciate that, but you know that's not my personality, and I'm just very

reserved. Well, I saw you in front of In and Out the other

day in your hamburger, and I didn't see no reserved person as you were

slapping that in your mouth and eating the chili fries or whatever you we're eating.

If I a hidden camera, i'd find someplace in your reservated life where

you are reckless. I saw you reckless on the freeway when someone threw you

a half a peace sign. I heard you reckless in the bedroom when I

don't know what you were doing in that bedroom. Come on, let's not

all be so dignified in this place. We don't know what we're talking about.

There ought to be some time in my life where I feel something.

It's not fake, it's not phony, it's not copyed, it's not ritualism,

it's not sensationalism. I'm not trying to oppress you. I'm not trying

to get your attention. But I am showing how much I love him and

how worthy he is of my praise, that I'll never have to experience hell,

punishment, torment or damnation, and his blood cleanse me. And he

has forgiven me of all my sins. That means something. But if you

and I have not learned how to die to self, you and I will

have to struggle with that. And too many of us have not lost sight

of ourselves. So I can't do that because other people will see me.

I can't do that because I got a reputation up poll. I can't do

that because I got accolades, money, title positions. I can't do that

because I'll be embarrassment embarrassed. That's the problem. Yet, this king in

the Old Testament took off his crown and took off his robe and danced with

all his might, undignified for the ark of the Covenant. His name was

David. How much more? How much more? There needs to be a

time when I don't care if I cry, I don't care if snot runs

out of my nose. I don't care if I get on my knees.

This God is worthy to be praised, and I want him to know it.

I just want him to know it. Undignified praise. Undignified praise.

Several years ago, nearly forty one years plus, I met this lady named

Cindy Sue Smith and we started dating. These are our pre marital pictures.

We started dating, and I was overwhelmed. I was captivating. I had

reckless love for this girl. I didn't care who saw me. Yeah,

my friends would make fun of me. Man, Man, you're too young.

You did play the field. Man, don't be showing all that emotion,

you know. I'd hear that, you know kind of thing, and

you know what. But but I didn't care. And so the reality was

we both worked at the same place, and she would start work at eight

o'clock and I'd start work at nine thirty. But I want to talk about

how crazy I was for this girl, reckless abandonment. I'd show up about

ten minutes before eight o'clock to sit in the car to watch her drive in

with her nineteen seventy Chevy Malibu, and then I'd get out, pretending like

I accidentally coincidentally bumped into her and was on my way into my into the

my shift at the same time. And then she punched the clock, and

I say goodbye, and then I turn around and go back into my car

and wait an hour and a half till my shift started. Crazy, reckless,

all for love, all for three minutes of her time to have a

conversation, And yet I have no time for God and the busyness of my

life. I wonder how many times it's God who's waiting in the car for

just three minutes of your time to walk with you, to talk with you,

to hear your hurts and your pains. But you don't got no time.

You're too busy, ripping and running. There's so much He could do

for you and help you with, which is not just not made time.

The third thing that I recognize very quickly is this is that our Hosanna praise

needs to be constant and consistent and continual. It cannot be just flaky and

fickle and fruity. It's not this hid and miss up and down, sometimes

circumstantial kind of praise. The Hosanna praise has got to be the most consistent

thing and the constant thing, and the continual thing that you and I offer.

The Bible says this in everything, give Him praise in everything. When

you're in a pit, when you're in a prison, when you're in a

hospital bed, when you're in jail, when you're in bankruptcy court, when

you're in divorce court, when you're in the doctor's office getting an evaluation or

a prognosis or a diagnosis. When I lose my job, when the most

difficult, hard things come, and unexpected things and other unplanned for things,

unwanted things come in my life, that's the time that you need a praise

God. Now when you got a pocket full of money, and not when

everything is going perfect in your life. Anybody could praise God. But when

you're going through the most difficult, heartbreaking I just lost my spouse moment of

your life. Cannot praise God through that. I lost my child, I

lost somebody, whoever it is, your mom or whoever it is special to

you. In everything given praise? Can I do that? Let me talk

to you about what happened in two thousand and eight June will be nearly sixteen

years I was diagnosed with cancer and I've never I don't. They probably have,

but I just can't remember. I'm gonna show you the actual report from

the doctor. Here it is. It's going on the screen. His cats

can showed. His cats can showed a complex complex cystic mass in the right

kidney, suspicious of neoplastic process cancer. Multiply lytich lead were identified. I

don't even know where these places are in his T nine, T ten,

L one, L three, and S one vertebrae, a bony palvis all

consisted with bony mastissist. His final pathology from surgery showed renal cell carcinoma,

clear cell trait grade four with sarcomatoid features cancer. His diagnose was stage four

kidney cancer with an aggressive cell type that has a five years survival of less

than five percent. Charles Mark Page, MD, Diplomatic American Board of Urology,

Southern California, Permanente Medical Group, Claremont, California. Let's talk about

that. Because I didn't have a reason to praise God. I missed five

services because I had my right kidney removed thereafter, I never missed the service.

Did I feel good? No? Was I in pain? You better

believe I was in pain. I just showed you what I was dealing with.

When praise and worship came, I was exhausted for the chemo that was

going through my body. They told me wear a mask, do not touch

people. I had all these regulations, but you do whatever God tells you

to do. But I wouldn't do it. I was giving it for the

glory of God, and I was gonna die and go to heaven. Then

I'd go my way, not someone else's way. But I wouldn't let anybody

stop me, nor let the devil stop me. And sometimes i'd be city

because my seat was right where Pastor Kenny is and the praise and worship would

go on, but i'd get myself up off that seat, and because it

was somewhere where it hurt me a lot. I could only raise this arm

till about this way. But you'd see me every Sunday like this. I

wouldn't let the devil steal my praise, and I'd raise my arm. I

don't care how much pain I was, and I'd worship God. And that's

what you gotta do to Sometimes you gotta be consistent and constant and continuous with

your faith, your promises, your confession, the word of God, rebuking

the devil. Whatever you've got to do. You don't quit just because the

going gets tough. You'll do it. Anyhow, and the last thing in

closing was this, to have Hosannah praise, you have to have a revelation

and knowledge and understanding of who he is, because if not, he'll just

be a stranger, and he's not worthy of all that. I'll give that

to the raiders. I'll give that to the lakers. I ain't given that

to Jesus. I'll give that to my spouse. I'll give that to my

job. I'll give that to social media. I ain't given all that to

Jesus. It reflects you have no revelation than of who he is. Those

people said something for that moment, whether they understood it or not, that's

besides the point. They understood him as a king. And what does a

king do? A king provides, a king protects, a king beings peace.

What is a king? He's wise, he's compassionate, he's generous,

he's courageous, he's majesty, he's royalty. That's what this king, Jesus

is, and he was worthy of being praised. The Bible says he's supreme.

So there's nobody greater or higher or better than Jesus. He is it,

and in the highest of heavens it refers to he was the highest,

the supreme. Then it refers to the heavens, which means he's eternal,

eternity driven. He is the blesser in whom all blessings flow, and he's

worthy to be praised. But if you don't have a revelation of who he

is to you, then you will struggle to give him Mozanna praise. I

can't love your mom, I can't love your wife. I can't love your

children the way you do. Why because you have a revelation, understanding and

knowledge of who they are to you. And oftentimes our praise reflects the level

of how intimate he is to me, who he is in my life.

So this phrase was in the Bible. It says this from the crowd,

it says, and he answered and said to them, I tell and some

of it. Which one you want to do? Let's do the other one

please? The other one's the one we want. And some of the pharisees

called to him from the crowd. See, I want you to know in

a crowd, there are all kinds of people in this room. There's a

crowd on your job, there's a crowd in the society. There's a crowd,

maybe even within your home. There's a crowd. And here what the

crowd looks like. All in our crowds are people like this. Sometimes there's

spectators and watchers and gazers, neutral, confused, unknowing, unbelievers, suspicious,

skeptics, critics, strangers looking at Jesus as a mystery, enemies of

Jesus out it's deceivers calling him belzebab. And then in that crowd are the

participants. They involve, the engage, in the committed. So who are

you in that crowd? Jesus asked them, And who do men say that

I am? And they looked at them and say, who do you say

that I am? Who am I? To you? That's worthy of your

life? You're praise walking away from your sin, walking away from your lifestyle.

If I don't, if you don't have a revelation of who I am,

you'll never give that up. So I'd like to end with this,

because this last scripture says this. Jesus says this, and Luke, he

says, and he answered, He said to them, I tell you that

if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out, basically

and praise me. This is a rock. This is what he was saying.

He's saying, if you won't praise me, I will be praised.

My creation will praise me because they understand what it took for me to make

them. What if this rock could praise him? What would this rock say?

They say? I think, I thank you Lord for making me.

I thank you for creating me. I thank you for molding me. I

thank you for fashioning me. I thank you for using me. I thank

you for setting me in my place. I thank you for my colors.

I thank you for my shape. I thank you for my personality. A

rock would do that? How much more would you be able to praise God?

And should praise God? So I'm gonna ask you to hold a beat

right now. Ain't no rock gonna cry in my place. Ain't no rock

I'm gonna sing in my place. Ain't no rock I'm gonna take my place.

Ain't no rock I gonna dance in my place. Ain't no rock gonna

shout in my place. Ain't no rock gonna bow in my place. Ain't

no rock gonna live its hands in my place. Ain't no rock worthy of

praise? Come on, let's thank him today. Come on, let's give

him the glory, the honor, and the praise today. He's worthy.

He's worthy, He's worthy. He loves you. He died for you,

he's sacrificed, he was broken, he was bled for you, he was

beet for you. He's worthy. And I'm not gonna let the devil shut

my praise up. As you're standing up today. I don't know where you

are in that crowd. I don't know if you're a believer or unbeliever.

I don't know if you're suspicious, you're a doubter. I don't know where

you are today that crowd. But he knows, And just like two thousand

years ago, he's passing right by you, and he sees you in this

room with twenty five hundred people and people outside of this oddo tow. He

sees you. He sees your name, he sees your social security, he

sees the day that you were born. He sees every aspect of your life.

He sees you. He sees you in your good days and your bad

days. He sees you in your insecurities and your low self esteem and your

inadequate He sees you today before he passed by. Will you get as a

gen tension and say, look toward me now, Jesus and Hosanna, save

me. Save me. I need to be saved today because I'm not living

the life that I should. Save me today for future judgments. Save me

today from what's gonna happen after I die and slip into eternity. Slave me.

Save me from the hurts that make me drink too much, the pains

that make me angry. O God, save me from what others have said

that I can't seem to forget nor forgive. You might be the Peter in

the ears. Save me God from denying you. You might be the Mary

Magdalene. Save me from my past today. I don't know what you need

to be saved from, but if you've never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord

and savior and let God take away your sins, then God has to let

you pay for your sins. Or I say, I'm a Christian, but

I'm not serving the Lord. God never left me, but I'm left God,

and I today want to rededicate my life to the Lord. Come back.

When I count to three, I'm gonna ask you to raise your hand

to be unashamed. Who sees you today? Because all you care about is

that he sees you in this crowd because he's passing by. Don't put it

off, don't say I'm not ready. I will preach her. But when

I get ready, You're never ready. No one will ever be ready.

As broken and empty and sinful. You could be the most wicked, nasty,

perverted person. None of us qualifies for salvation. Jesus' blood qualifies us.

Today. You raise your hand now, one, two, three,

Raise your hand all across this auditorium. Raise it up. Hands are going

up all over your place. Keep your hands up. Say, dear Jesus,

say this with me. Jesus here, I am all by myself.

Look at me and see me today. I repent. I ask you to

be my lord. I ask you to be my savior. Thank you for

dying for my sins. Come and live in my heart and help me now

to know who you are and to walk with you in Jesus' name. Amen.
