I'm so good to see everybody in this morning.
-
As many of you guys know who've been coming during
-
this month of the series. We have a shorter praise
-
kind of at the beginning because we end our service
-
and conclude it with a little bit more worship, so
-
we'll continue to lean into the presence of God.
-
At the end of the message.
-
Shout out to all those who joined us last week,
-
even last Sunday as part of our conference. How many
-
guys were here last week and even Pastor Mark Clark
-
sharing last weekend. I mean Pastor Mark's message was amazing
-
and the Lord moved and we're already preparing for next
-
year's conference as well. We already have fifteen hundred tickets
-
pre so for next year's conference. Believe it or not,
-
when you offer a d O, people know how to
-
jump on it.
-
So good on you.
-
You got you know this is my Marshalls and TJ
-
Max crowd because we jumped on them discounted tickets.
-
In a second.
-
Well, we're gonna continue our series talking about the Holy Spirit,
-
but not just talking about the Holy Spirit, but really
-
leaning into encounter the Holy Spirit. So if you have
-
your Bibles today, would you turn to John chapter fourteen.
-
And as we're doing so, shout out to those that
-
are online joining us today live as well. Thank you
-
so much for everyone in your continued patience in the courtyard.
-
The reason why you might may not have seen any
-
momentum yet is because we're waiting for the city to
-
approve some last amendments that we made. And if you
-
know anything about Rancho City Council, we love them, We
-
love the Planning Commission. We pray for them, we pray
-
nothing God's best for them.
-
But who do they love dragging their feet?
-
So once they give us the green light, our teams
-
will finish the courtyard and we'll be able to experience
-
all the beauty that will be out there as well,
-
with the fire pits and the lucky climber and the
-
pickleball court that we're building and all these other things
-
like that.
-
So just get ready.
-
It's gonna be a lot of fun that we're gonna
-
be fellowship with each other.
-
We're building, We're building.
-
A cool coffee cart, coffee, a build out container.
-
It's gonna be amazing. But thank you for your patience.
-
As construction has things have been closed, open, closed, open. Well,
-
here we are in John chapter fourteen. If you're ready,
-
would you stand for the honor of reading God's word today.
-
We're gonna be in a few verses today, but we're
-
gonna be talking about the Holy Spirit.
-
I want you to really lean in and pay attention
-
to the word the Helper. We're gonna see it twice.
-
But really, what Jesus is encouraging with is who the
-
Holy Spirit is and how He's gonna leave us with
-
the Holy Spirit.
-
So here's what God's Word says today.
-
If you love me, keep my commandments, and I will
-
ask the Father, and he will give you another helper
-
to be with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth,
-
who the world cannot receive because it neither sees him
-
nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with
-
you and will be in you.
-
I will not leave you as orphans.
-
I will come to you yet a little while, and
-
the world will see me no more, but you will
-
see me because I live, and you also will live.
-
In that day, you will know that I am in
-
the Father, and you in me, and I in you.
-
Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is
-
who loves me, and he who loves me, will be
-
loved by my father, and I will love him and
-
will manifest myself to him. Judas not a scariot. I
-
love that like, not the weird one, not the trader.
-
There's another Judas. It's a very common name back then.
-
I like how they gotta let us know like not
-
that one said to him, Lord, how is it that
-
you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world.
-
Jesus answered him.
-
If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and
-
my father will love him, and we will come to
-
him and make our home with him.
-
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words.
-
And the word that you hear is not mine, but
-
the Father who sent me these things I have spoke
-
to you while I'm still with you. But the Helper,
-
the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name.
-
He will teach you all things and bring to your
-
remembrance all that I have said. Peace.
-
I leave with you.
-
My peace I give to you, not as the world
-
do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled,
-
neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you,
-
I'm going away, and I will come to you if
-
you love me, you would have rejoiced because I'm going
-
to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
-
And now I have told you before it takes place,
-
so that when it does takes place, you may be leave,
-
you may be seated in this moment, God bless you.
-
Let's talk about a little bit about what we read.
-
There's a moment.
-
Jesus is talking about the time he's gonna ascend to heaven.
-
Now for a moment that worries the disciples, because how
-
many of you guys know it's better that someone be physically.
-
In your presence than absence from your presence.
-
You know, oftentimes I travel and I preach other places,
-
and believe it or not, when you do it enough.
-
My wife doesn't look forward to when I leave. When
-
I'm absent, there's more of a load on her. I
-
normally help get the boys ready in the morning. I
-
normally help with breakfast and dinner, And so when I leave,
-
there's more of a load on my wife. So when
-
I tell her, hey, babe, don't forget I'm leaving to
-
Texas this week for three days, she doesn't go, oh,
-
you be oh, this is gonna be amazing.
-
It's gonna be quiet. I'm gonna be able to let
-
she goes.
-
Uhh, I gotta do double the workload, double the things.
-
So first the disciples, what they're saying is Jesus.
-
Saying, hey, I'm as sending to heaven.
-
And the disciples are like, what it's been so easy
-
with you being here. Jesus, like, all we gotta do
-
is gather people, tell them to come, and then we
-
point to Jesus and go to da and then.
-
You do your thing, and then.
-
People get healed, people get delivered, you touch them, you
-
all these miracles happen, and they're like, Jesus, we like
-
that when you leave, it's gonna be more of a
-
workload on.
-
Us, because we got to talk about a guy who's
-
not even here. And Jesus says, but what happens is
-
when he goes to heaven, he will give you a
-
helper who's gonna come alongside of you. And in fact,
-
Jesus gives us hope to say, it is that helper
-
that is gonna move in you and beside you and
-
give you the power and the authority of God's spirit.
-
So that leads to.
-
The question, would we rather prefer Jesus standing in front
-
of us, or the Holy Spirit working inside of us.
-
If I took a handcount, I bet you, probably including
-
myself at times, ninety percent of us would just say,
-
just put Jesus in front of me. That would make
-
my faith easier, that would make my trust easier, that
-
would make my life easier. But guess what, Jesus, when
-
he's in front of you, he holds the power and authority.
-
But when you choose to follow Jesus, believe his word,
-
believe in his death, burial, resurrection, what happens is the
-
very same power that Jesus operated in, the Holy Spirit
-
operates with you. And so in fact, we should you say, Jesus,
-
we're good, stay in heaven.
-
We await your return, we look forward to that day.
-
But we're gonna be okay because we have the Spirit
-
of God alongside of us and moving inside of us.
-
And so what happens is Judas goes, wait, wait, wait, wait, okay.
-
So how can God move and no one see it
-
unless they believe in Jesus. That doesn't make any sense
-
in his head, he says, because Jesus, when you move,
-
when you heal, when you do a miracle, when you manifest,
-
we can all see.
-
It, even people who don't believe you, they see it.
-
And so then that's where Jesus starts to explain who this,
-
the helper is, the Holy Spirit. And so what Jesus
-
says he uses we saw it twice. He calls the
-
Holy Spirit the helper twice. And it's so important for
-
us to understand who the helper is because it's not
-
like a helper like you and I. Maybe you were
-
in elementary school and every day the teacher would choose a.
-
Helper for that day. You remember that, and.
-
That helper got to pull out the markers and the
-
krans and the scissors. Or maybe you're getting out groceries
-
and you know, your spouse comes, hey, hey, you need
-
help with that, and you're like, oh yeah, i'd love help,
-
that'd be nice.
-
That's not who the Holy Spirit is.
-
The Holy Spirit's not just looking at you carrying your
-
groceries going you know, I can help you with that.
-
No.
-
You see, there's a word that's used when Jesus talks
-
about the helper. It's a Greek word called the paraclets. Okay,
-
the peraclet, And see what the paraclet is and we
-
have it up on the screen for you so you
-
can see. You see the paraclet, the actual literal definition
-
because in Greek they kind of use a posing word
-
the opposite word, so mean beside to call.
-
In other words, if you flip it to call beside.
-
More than that, It's got kind of four depending on
-
how you use it and where you use it. It
-
has four applications. The first one is an advocate, so
-
like a lawyer. Right, I don't know if you've ever
-
had a lawyer before. I've had lawyers help me before.
-
And what lawyers will tend to do when they advocate
-
for you, The best thing they want you to do
-
is stop talking so that they could talk.
-
All right, it's a great lawyer.
-
A great lawyer goes, hey, stop talking. You're getting yourself
-
at your Let me speak to the judge on your behalf.
-
Let me hey.
-
Before you, before you respond to your boss or respond
-
to this, let me help you. And so a lawyer
-
will step in and advocate on your behalf. Was it
-
eighty miles an hour or could it been seventy eight
-
miles an hour?
-
That's a great advocate. See, so the term the helper,
-
the parent it's not just someone who helps you. It's
-
someone who.
-
Literally advocates for you on your behalf, speaks on your behalf,
-
fights on your behalf, defends you on your behalf, and
-
so what happens also the Holy Spirit will also step
-
in as a counselor. I don't know if you've ever
-
been to therapy before, or I don't know if you
-
ever were in high school before and you had to
-
sit with a school counselor and.
-
They said, what are you good at? Let's help you.
-
Find a major. Let's help you talk about a college
-
you could go to. Let's dialogue about who you are
-
and how we can get the best version of you.
-
You see, the Holy Spirit is a helper, He's a
-
counselor for you.
-
If you spend time with the Lord, and you spend
-
time with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is there
-
to say, hey, how can we get the best version
-
of you out of you? How can we get you
-
to decrease so that the Lord can increase in your life,
-
so that I can help counsel you to say, hey, Adam,
-
the direction you're going in right now, it's not going to.
-
Lead to peace. It's only gonna lead to destruction.
-
So the more am I sit in the presence of
-
the Holy Spirit, sit in the presence of God, the
-
Holy Spirit will begin to counsel me and help me
-
avoid these train wrecks. I tend to find myself in.
-
Holy Spirit wants to help you. Holy Spirit wants to
-
come alongside of you. The next thing the Holy Spirit
-
wants to do. The Holy Spirit does want to help you.
-
I don't know about you, but there are times that
-
I just say, God, help me, help me.
-
I don't know. I'm at a loss.
-
I need your help. The Holy Spirit is there to
-
help you. The next thing is that's the Holy Spirit's
-
there to comfort you. There's times me and my wife
-
we've gotten a new mattress before or whatever for our room,
-
and we're laying in bed at night. We like to
-
run our house pretty cold, so we got like three
-
fans on us at all times ac low and there
-
is nothing like or maybe you go to a hotel
-
and you drop that hotel to sixty one degrees because
-
it's not your bill that you're paying for, and so you.
-
Go to the hotel and you just lower that.
-
I'll tell you this, there is nothing like a good
-
comforter on top of a bed, just a warm, fluffy
-
comforter and what it's called you just get under it.
-
You're like, man, I could stay here all day. See
-
the Holy Spirit as the helper is there to comfort
-
you and I to bring comfort. And there are times
-
that in the comfort it may cause discomfort. But the
-
reality is the Holy Spirit is trying to comfort you
-
and I. When we say Jesus, where are you where
-
if you've been what's going on? The Holy Spirit comes
-
in and goes, hey, I'm here with you. I'm here
-
to walk alongside of you. I'm here to be beside you.
-
So Jesus makes this statement to say, not only does
-
the Holy Spirit walk alongside of you, the Holy Spirit
-
works inside of you.
-
So the truth is you and I we.
-
All need help. I don't care how gifted you are.
-
I don't care how talented you are. I don't care
-
how many degrees you have on the back of your name.
-
I don't care how long you've been in your trade.
-
I don't care how many people come and want to
-
listen to you or learn about you. But we all
-
need God's help. We all need the Holy Spirit's help.
-
We all need the Holy Spirits comfort we all need
-
the Holy Spirit's advocacy. I want to see by a
-
show of hands, does anyone recognize this name? Does anyone
-
know the name doctor Prithea Hall? By show hands? Anyone
-
know that name? Oh my gosh, nobody knows the name.
-
That's okay. I didn't know the name up until a
-
year ago.
-
Let me see this.
-
Does anyone know the name of this individual name, doctor
-
Martin Luther King Junior.
-
Anyone know that name? Anybody? Okay? We got one hundred.
-
Percent participation at this point, does anyone Does anyone know
-
a little speech it's only known as the greatest speech
-
in the past one hundred years, a speech called the
-
I have a Dream speech?
-
Anyone know that name? Okay?
-
Back, we're back to We're from one hundred percent to
-
ninety nine percent.
-
Okay, So there it is. Everybody knows that speech? Uh?
-
Did you know that that.
-
Speech was born out of a prayer meeting? You see,
-
there was a woman named doctor Prithea Hall. She was
-
a gifted, gifted preacher. She was a gifted leader. She
-
was in the Baptist Church, in the Baptist movement. Not
-
only that, she was also a woman who fought alongside
-
doctor Martin Luther King. They were friends and she was
-
a leader in the civil rights activist movement. Doctor Martin
-
Luther King said there's only one person he would never
-
want to follow up after a sermon, and.
-
It was her. He said, there was only one.
-
Person that was more gifted to him in oratory skills.
-
Than he was, and it was doctor Hall.
-
What happened was one time in nineteen sixty two, there
-
was four African American churches that were burnt down in Georgia.
-
Doctor Hall showed up in nineteen sixty two and they
-
were having a prayer meeting that night because half of
-
the church had burnt down. What happened was four white
-
supremacists had went through multiple cities and they set these.
-
Churches on fire. And so she came into town.
-
Martin Luther King Junior happened to come into downtown two
-
and it was a few weeks prior to the famous
-
walk that he was gonna make on Capitol Hill where
-
he was going to give a speech. His speech at
-
the time had not been written or not been planned.
-
At the moment, doctor Hall, it was her time to
-
stand up in the prayer meeting, and she began to
-
pace back and forth on the burntdown rubble, the burnt
-
down ashes, and she began to yell four.
-
Times, I have a dream. I have a dream.
-
And as she would begin to pray and intercede, the
-
spirit of God would fall in that place, and she
-
would begin to pray, I have a dream that we
-
won't be defined by our color. I have a dream
-
that our children be treated as equals. And she starts
-
to pray and intercede, and.
-
The spirit of God falls as she cries, I have
-
a dream. I have a dream. I have a dream.
-
Doctor Martin Luther King Junior, he's in the back of
-
the room. It's his friend. The prayer service ends, he
-
goes backstage and he says, hey, Prithea, mind if I
-
use that I have a dream prayer that you were
-
using right now, And she said, yeah, go ahead, we're friends.
-
Use it.
-
So a few weeks later he would march on Capitol
-
Hill and he would give one of the greatest speeches
-
known to mankind. And guess what, Not only did Martin
-
Luther King Junior use a little help. Not only did
-
he take a little help from doctor Hall, but he
-
also took some help from the Holy Spirit. Because it
-
was the spirit of God that failed during that prayer meeting.
-
It was the spirit of God that moved in that
-
prayer meeting. It was a spirit of God that spoke
-
to doctor Hall, And it was the spirit of God
-
who spoke to doctor Martin Luther King Junior and said,
-
what I'm birthing in a moment of prayer. I'm gonna
-
affect culture, and I'm gonna affect society, and see doctor
-
Martin Luther King Junior. He didn't say, I'm Martin. I
-
don't need someone else's content. I don't need someone else's prayers.
-
I don't know. I'm a man myself. I don't need it.
-
There's a million things he could.
-
Have done to rationalize I'm gonna go write my own speech,
-
but instead he got the Holy Spirit's help and he said,
-
I'm gonna go ask my friend if I can have
-
her speech. The rest of her life, until the day
-
she died, people would ask about that rumor.
-
On that day.
-
They would ask her, doctor Hall, did Martin Luther King
-
Junior steal his speech from you? That I have a
-
dream speech? She would say, no, I love Martin. That's
-
my buddy, He's my friend. And then Finally, when she died,
-
a family member came out and said she was just
-
being humble her whole life.
-
Yes, she gave him permission.
-
And then his family member came out and said, no, yeah,
-
he got permission from her. You see, not only when
-
the Holy Spirit moves the way that you fight pride.
-
When the Holy Spirit starts working in your life is
-
you operate in humility. You work in humility. You don't say, oh,
-
that's my credit, Oh yeah I did that. Now you say,
-
I'm just happy God did his thing. I'm just glad
-
that we're one step fuck closer to equality. I'm just
-
glad we're one step closer to freedom. I'm just glad
-
we're one step closer. You just thank and praise God
-
for what the Lord did, and a lot of us.
-
It doesn't matter how skilled you are, we all need help.
-
I'll tell you.
-
If the I have a dream speech needed help, you
-
and I need help. If the greatest speech in the
-
past hundred years needed the Holy Spirit, then you and
-
I need the Holy Spirit just to say hello, that's
-
how bad we need the Holy Spirits help.
-
With a few moments that I have.
-
I want to just share with you three aspects that
-
we need the Holy Spirit help for. You know, in
-
Mark chapter two there's a famous passage of the paralytic man.
-
What happens was in Mark chapter two, verses three to eleven.
-
I'll just paraphrase him for us. What we know about
-
the Gospels, A lot of the healings in the Gospel,
-
God does heal today, and he does do miracles today.
-
But also a lot of in the Matthew, Mark, Luke,
-
and John.
-
When you see Jesus doing a miracle, a lot of times,
-
what it represents the physical reality of what happens represents
-
the spiritual breakthrough.
-
Okay.
-
So like if a man gets healed of blindness, it
-
represents that you and I are blind. Before Jesus touches
-
our lives.
-
We can't see life. Okay.
-
If he raises Lazarus from the death, it represents that
-
when we believe in Jesus, God will raise us to life.
-
And so a lot of the miracles represent miracles where
-
he will heal a man who can't walk, and that
-
represents without God's touch, we can't go anywhere in life. Right,
-
So a lot of the physical healings represent spiritual realities.
-
So there's a famous passage in Mark two where there's
-
a man who's paralyzed. He can't walk, and he has
-
four friends that come and gather him on a piece
-
of cloth or a rug, and they carry him to Jesus.
-
Jesus was in a home teaching and preaching, and the
-
Bible says that they couldn't fit in the room. So
-
what the four friends decided to do because they wanted
-
their friend to get healed and he couldn't do it
-
on his own.
-
Was they go to the roof.
-
They tear the roof open, and then they lower their
-
friend in front of Jesus. And when Jesus sees the faith,
-
Jesus looks at them and he says, this, your faith
-
has made you well, and your sins are forgiven. Yeah,
-
And what happens is is that man who his sins
-
were forgiven, could not do it without his friend's help.
-
You see, that story represents the.
-
Fact that you and I cannot encounter the presence of
-
God without the Holy Spirit's help.
-
You and I.
-
I don't know if you've ever felt paralyzed in life before,
-
but I have felt paralyzed in life before. Well, I
-
didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say.
-
I didn't know where to go. I didn't know what
-
to choose. I didn't know what door to walk in.
-
I didn't know whether to say yes. I didn't know
-
whether to say no. I didn't know what to pray for.
-
I didn't know what to believe for. But yet the
-
Holy Spirit came, and the Holy Spirit can lower you
-
to the presence of God. And the Holy Spirit can
-
get you some face time with Jesus. And when you
-
get face time with the presence of God, what will
-
happen is you were encounter God the way you couldn't
-
on your own. Without the Holy Spirit, we could never
-
encounter God. The Holy Spirit is there to lower you.
-
The Holy Spirit is there to bring you before the
-
presence of God. The Holy Spirit is there to help you.
-
And you feel like you can't help yourself, and I'll
-
tell you this, we can rarely help ourselfs. We know
-
how much that gets us in trouble. Here's some ways
-
that the Holy Spirit can help us, just three simple ways.
-
If you're taking notes. Number one, the Holy Spirit can
-
help you with your words. Luke Chapter twelve, Verse twelve,
-
Jesus says the Holy Spirit will teach you what to
-
say at the time and what time you should say it.
-
And he was telling his disciples, who he was charging
-
them to go and preach the gospel, and he said,
-
there will be times that people will ask you questions,
-
people will make statements, people will do.
-
Things that you will not know what to say.
-
You will not know what to do, but the Holy
-
Spirit will give you the words. So there are just
-
simple times that you and I need to just sit
-
for a moment, pray to God and say God, Holy Spirit,
-
would you help me with my words.
-
It's as simple as that.
-
People are often thinking that we need to go into
-
a room and we need to put on all this
-
worship music, which that helps. That helps get into a
-
rhythm and a routine. But you could just as simply
-
as when you're about to say something you know you
-
shouldn't or you don't know what to say, you to
-
just separate yourself for a moment and say.
-
Holy Spirit, help me with my words.
-
There are times that I go home and Ashley has
-
a frustrating day and she may say something and I
-
just gotta under my breast say Holy Spirit, help me
-
with the next five words, because if I match her energy.
-
These next five words are gonna turn into five days
-
of help.
-
So there's times you got to ask the Holy Spirit.
-
You go into work and they're like, hey, we.
-
Need to sit with you, Please sit down, let's talk,
-
or you get that HR email are you available today
-
at one blah blah blah blah, and you just say,
-
Holy Spirit, I need you to help me win my words,
-
because when I go.
-
In there defending myself, I know what's gonna happen.
-
The Holy Spirit can help you with your words. Not
-
can the Holy Spirit help you word your words. The
-
Holy Spirit can help you with your mind. Sometimes the mind,
-
and our mind is the worst place that we can
-
allow thoughts to sit. Romans Chapter eight, verse six says,
-
the mind governed by the flesh is death, but the
-
mind governed by the.
-
Spirit is life and peace.
-
And so if you want to operate in more peace
-
and more life, I'm pretty sure all of us would
-
love to operate with more peace in our life.
-
Jesus told us that peace is what he leaves us
-
through the Holy Spirit.
-
And so there are times that you just need to
-
step aside and you need to pray for your mind,
-
and you need to say Jesus by the power of
-
the Holy Spirit.
-
I pray for peace in my mind. I pray for
-
life in my mind.
-
When you find yourself negative, when you find yourself broken down,
-
when you find yourself living in your mind, when you
-
find yourself overly sensitive, where you're seeing everything that everyone
-
is doing is offending you. You're looking, Oh, I know
-
they're after me. I know they're talking about you. Need
-
to just separate and say, God, my mind is full
-
of death. Right now, I need you to give me life.
-
Right now.
-
I need peace in my life. Right now, I need
-
peace in my mind. The third thing the Holy Spirit
-
can do is the Holy Spirit can give you a
-
bounce of faith. We all need faith in our life.
-
Faith is what builds up your spirit. Faith is what
-
allows you to trust God in the midst of storms.
-
Faith is the thing that you can't see in front
-
of you, but yet you trust God is in the
-
middle of it. And Romans chapter eight twenty six says this. Likewise,
-
the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We're normally we
-
weakest in we're normally weakest in our faith. That's when
-
we pull back from God. That's when we stop going
-
to church. That's when we stop worshiping. That's when we
-
stop reading our Bible. That's when we start obeying God.
-
That's when we stop trusting God. It's when we are weakest.
-
That's also when the enemy comes to prow the hardest.
-
And so he says, the Holy Spirit will help you
-
in your weakness, for we don't know what to pray
-
for as we ought, but the Spirit self will intercede
-
for you with groanings too deep for words. Not only
-
is that praying in the spirit, and we call speaking
-
in tons, but it's also a reality that we say,
-
Holy Spirit, I can't put to words what I need
-
right now, but I trust God that you know what
-
I mean. And so therefore I'm gonna build my faith
-
in you. And what will happen is you'll start to
-
see the Holy Spirit work on your behalf and move
-
on your behalf and speak on your behalf. Because you're
-
building your faith up, you build your trust up. It's
-
like Peter when he was in a storm. Jesus walks
-
on water and he says, Peter, join me.
-
That's faith. There's gonna be times the Holy Spirit.
-
You will find yourself across the Holy Spirit, and the
-
Holy Spirit will say hey.
-
Come join me over here, and you have a decision
-
to make.
-
You're either gonna join the Holy Spirit, the spirit of
-
God where the Spirit of God is at, or you're
-
gonna try to fight to say no, the Holy Spirit,
-
you meet me where I'm at. But the reality is,
-
if you're meaning, if the Holy spirits mean you, we're at,
-
and where you're at is deathly, the Holy Spirit doesn't
-
go there. So that's why he says, if we have
-
the spirit of God and yet our mind, though, is
-
dealing in the flesh, then it leads to death. There's
-
a lot of times for me, I don't see God
-
moving or active in my life. But if I'm honest
-
with myself, it's because the things I've been thinking about
-
are fleshly and they're leading to death.
-
God doesn't operate in death.
-
God only operates in life, and so if we want
-
God to operate in death, the only thing we're asking
-
is for him to speak life over it. But a
-
lot of times we're like, but God, we don't want
-
you to speak life over this. I want this to die,
-
but I also want you to do a miracle. Not
-
with that, I just want that to die.
-
But over here, in.
-
The spirit of God say it's not a both, and
-
it's a one or the other. You gotta look for
-
the Holy spirits moving in your life. The Holy Spirit
-
is always doing things, trying to be in comfort, trying
-
to bring advocate to see to you, trying to be
-
your counselor There was a time of my life where
-
I just saw the Holy Spirit move in such an
-
active way in March twenty, On March twenty first of
-
twenty twenty, my father in law went home to be
-
with the Lord. And it was a tough time because
-
COVID had just started, and so you know, everyone with
-
social distancing and separating and all these things like that.
-
And so March twenty first, twenty twenty, my father in
-
law goes home to be with the Lord. My wife
-
and our whole family and her whole family were grieving
-
and it was so difficult and it was so hard,
-
and we still grieve to this day. That's the thing
-
about grief, so there's no time stamp on it. You
-
grieve when you need to grieve, and so we still
-
grieve to this day. And so what happened was on
-
March twenty first, twenty twenty. Over the next ninety days
-
and plus it's difficult. We're grieving. Sometimes it feels like
-
there's no hope. Sometimes it feels like there's no works,
-
And a lot of times you're thinking, God, where are
-
you in this circumstance where what is going on? Are
-
you around? Are what are we not doing? What are
-
we missing? You're just battling. You're fighting. You're wrestling with God,
-
and that's okay. You can wrestle with the Lord when
-
you can't put answer today's but you also got a
-
look where the Lord is trying to answer you.
-
Because he will, the Holy Spirit will bring you comfort.
-
So about ninety days after Tom had gone home to
-
be with the Lord, Ashley and I found out that
-
we were pregnant. So we find out we're pregnant, and
-
a couple months after that is when you go to
-
your first appointment. And when you go to your first appointment,
-
that's where you find out, okay, potentially you know what's
-
gonna what's the heart rate, like, is the baby healthy?
-
Blah blah blah blah blah. And then after they print
-
out a document that says expected do date, the do
-
date that they expect because you got pregnant. This is
-
when we expect the baby's gonna be born or our son.
-
We look at the paper.
-
It says due date March twenty first, twenty twenty one,
-
twelve months to.
-
The date that Tom went home to be with the Lord.
-
Everybody called Tom Papa TC because his nickname growing up
-
was TomKat because he was smooth. If you Tom was
-
an elder here and so you know, you know, Papa
-
Tom was smooth, and so his name was TomKat and
-
so all of us we just called.
-
Him Papa TC.
-
And so when we saw that on the document, we
-
looked and we said, Lord, you are providing peace to
-
us in this storm. Holy Spirit, you're giving to us comforted.
-
What are the chances twelve months to the day. And
-
so in honor of that moment, but really in honor
-
of God, because we know that God saw us, saw
-
us in our broken hearted, the Holy Spirit saw us
-
in a time of need, we named our son Thomas Cohen,
-
Little Baby TC. And so Thomas was born on March tenth,
-
twenty one. So he came ten days about ten days earlier,
-
because we know that for Papa TC, he was like,
-
you can name him after me, but don't share that
-
day with me. So Thomas came ten days earlier. So
-
now we have TC, little baby TC. We named him
-
after Papa, not just because we want to remember him,
-
but because we want to remember that God is faithful.
-
That if you would grieve with God, if you would
-
trust with.
-
God, if you would think with God, if you would
-
prye with God, if you would love with God, if
-
you would have faith with God, then I'll tell you this.
-
You will see the Holy Spirit in your life.
-
You will see the Holy Spirit bring you comfort in
-
your broken times. You will see the Holy Spirit fill
-
you with words. The question is are we going to
-
the Holy Spirit for help? Are we trusting the pericle,
-
or are we saying God, now I'm mad at you.
-
I don't need you, or God, I don't understand you.
-
I don't need you, or God, I don't want you
-
because last time you got in my business you wanted
-
to change too much.
-
I don't want that.
-
Or are we saying, Holy Spirit, I need your help.
-
And so today all we're gonna do is we continue
-
to worship. We're gonna go to the Holy.
-
Spirit for help.
-
And so you may be here today and you need
-
the Holy Spirit help. You may need the Holy Spirit
-
help with your words. You may need the Holy Spirit
-
help with your mind, You may need the Holy Spirits
-
help with your faith, or you may need the Holy
-
Spirit help for all three of those things.
-
I know I do.
-
But as we continue to worship today, I just encourage
-
you to not hold back, to not hold back, to
-
allow the Holy Spirit to come and comfort you and
-
advocate for you and counsel you and help you, because
-
the Lord knows.
-
I need it on a regular basis.
-
So we're gonna create space right now for a few
-
moments that as we go into worship together, I just
-
encourage us.
-
We're all gonna leave here together with plenty of time.
-
It's still early in service, but I'd ask that you
-
join me by sight now and we're just gonna seek
-
the presence of God, and we're gonna continue to allow
-
the Holy Spirit to manifest himself. And as Jesus said,
-
as the Holy Spirit comes alongside of us and inside
-
of us.
-
You may be looking for an encounter.
-
Face to face with Jesus, but I'll tell you this,
-
something richer than a face to face experience with Jesus
-
is an encounter with the Holy Spirit inside. Because what
-
happens is if you allow the Holy Spirit to change
-
you from the inside, it'll affect.
-
You from the outside.
-
And so let us worship today. I'm gonna pray feel free.
-
If you'd like to come to the alter and worship,
-
you're more than welcome to. But all we're gonna do
-
today is surrender to God and say, Holy Spirit help us.
-
So God, right now, as we go to worship you
-
more Lord, we just pray that the Holy Spirit move
-
in this place. Father, God, we pray Lord, Holy Spirit,
-
come right now, Holy Spirit, help us right now, Holy Spirit,
-
transform our mind, transform our words, build up our faith today,
-
Holy Spirit, allow us to trust you more, Holy Spirit,
-
allow us to hear your voice More Lord.
-
In a chaotic and a loud.
-
World that's full of noise, may we drown out out
-
today and may we fully lean into your voice today, God,
-
and I pray Lord that as we encounter you, Lord,
-
may you get all the honor and glory in our life. Lord,
-
we all need help today. May we walk in humility
-
to fall on our knees and fully trust you today
-
in this place, Lord, we trust you Holy Spirit.
-
In Jesus' name, Amen and Amen, Let's worship feel free
-
to come down if you like.
-
You call me out upon the.
-
It's the great.
-
No, the fime may fail, and there find you in
-
the mass cheap and notions deep.
-

His word says that the Lord is my shepherd, and
-
I shall not want, for he makes me lie down
-
besides green pastures. His word says that he leads us
-
besides still waters. His word says that he restores our
-
soul and leads us in paths of righteousness for his
-
name's sake. And though we may walk through the valley
-
of the shadow of death. We shall fear no evil,
-
for God is with us, and that's why he is
-
so good. So this is why we say that you
-
have been.
-
So good to me?
-
Heank God, I can't believe how you love me?

-
Oh in what afraid have be?
-
Who?
-
I'm never not a mother like you. I've never known a.
-
Mother like you.
-
In this moment, as I have spoke about the grieving process,
-
I feel a weight in my heart knowing that I've
-
gone through grieving. But there's a lot of grieving right
-
now in this room. You may have lost a loved one,
-
you may have lost a marriage, you may even feel
-
like you've lost a child.
-
To the world.
-
And I just want to lift you up right now
-
to know that there is hope, That there is a rainbow,
-
the one that He gave Noah. There is a promise
-
that God has for you. Although that it may feel
-
like a rollercoaster of ups and downs and hurts and
-
pains and sadness and tears. God loves you today. He
-
wants to be your comforter today. He wants to encourage
-
you today to lean on him. There are moments in
-
time for me myself. God, where are you? Why'd you
-
take him so soon? I have questions, I have hurts,
-
I have pains. I'm there with you, family, We're all
-
in this together. But the one thing I will encourage you,
-
he is a comforter.
-
As long as you give.
-
Your hurts and your pains to him, it is okay
-
to be sad, it is okay to be angry. But
-
give that to God and say, God, I give you
-
my life because it's better in your hands than it
-
is in mine.
-
I need to release that to you today.
-
So if there's anyone in here today that is in
-
pain of sadness, of grief, I just wanted you to
-
lift your hands in the air and surrender it to God.
-
Whatever it may be.
-
God, you see your children right now before you. They're hurting,
-
trying to go through the day, Father, without thinking about
-
their scenario. Father, They're trying to have the strength to
-
not cry, to make it seem.
-
Like they're perfect.
-
But God, we are not perfect. Because you are the
-
perfect Father. You are the one that can comfort us.
-
They're the one that can keep us. You're the one
-
that could heal us, restore us, and renew us.
-
Father.
-
So we ask right now that you begin to shed
-
your love among your people today. Give them the comfort
-
that they need, Father, that they can see through the day,
-
that they can endure through the night. Father, Because what
-
joy comes in the morning. Father, So we speak joy
-
in life to these individuals before us. Father, we speak
-
joy in life to your children today, that they do
-
silence their mind, that they will not have.
-
Fear, that they will have the power of You that.
-
You have instilled in them through the Holy Spirit.
-
Father.
-
So we thank you Father.
-
We know that grief is not short lived. Father, it
-
is a process, but it's a process that we must
-
do with you.
-
Father.
-
So we thank you for who you are today. We
-
thank you for being the comforter, the helper, the advocator
-
in our lives. Father, we give you it all today.
-
We surrender it all to you today. Amen, family, let's
-
continue back into worship.
-
Helss Us, Oh heloss Us, Oh Hellossus, Oh Hellos.
-
Come on, just open up your heart to him and
-
just say Hellossus.
-
Ah ha he lovess us, ah ha he lovess us

-
the right things.
-
He still loves me.
-
He loves me.
-
Ah, heus me.
-
Heuss see.
-
Let's pray in this place.
-
God.
-
We thank you Lord for the power your spirit.
-
God. We thank you for your comfort, Holy Spirit. We
-
thank you for your advocacy Holy Spirit. We thank you
-
for your help when we need it. We thank you
-
God that your presence is always here with us and
-
in us. We thank you that you never leave us
-
nor forsake us. We praise you Lord today. We give
-
you gratitude today, Father God, we give you thanksgiving. Today,
-
Father God, we thank you Lord that Jesus has died
-
and overcome death and resurrection and victory and sits at
-
the right hand of the Father today interceding for us.
-
And we thank you that as the Holy Spirit it
-
advocates for us, Jesus intercedes for us.
-
We thank you, Lord that you work on our behalf today.
-
God, there's anyone here that's far from Jesus today, and
-
they're ready to surrender to the lordship of Jesus, to
-
give their life to Christ, to confess him as Lord
-
and savior and repent.
-
Of their sins.
-
I encourage you in this moment that we confess with
-
our mouths to follow Jesus. Some people, you're done running,
-
you're done hiding. You're ready to choose to follow Jesus.
-
So would you join me right now? In this prayer confession?
-
The Holy Spirit knows exactly what the Holy Spirit is doing.
-
All this prayer does is affirm the work of God.
-
Would you join me right now? If you're online, in
-
the courtyard or in this room, can we say, Dear
-
Lord Jesus, in this moment, I repent to my sins.
-
I believe in my heart that Christ died for me
-
and he rose from the dead for me.
-
From this day forward, I choose to follow Jesus for
-
the rest of my days in Jesus' name.
-
Amen.
-
Can we celebrate God today in this place? Can we
-
thank the Lord that God's presence is real? If you
-
set that prayer today? Up on the screen is our
-
website ww dot grow dot Faith. We never want you
-
to leave church today and say I set a prayer,
-
but what do I do next? We want to help
-
you with your next. Additionally, Pastor Diego, our founding pastor Halways,
-
says that if you've committed to Jesus Christ today, we
-
challenge you to come to church as often as possible
-
for the next twelve months and look what God will
-
do in your life. In the same way, if the
-
next twelve months I went to the gym every day,
-
my body would probably look a lot different. In the
-
same way if you read your Bible every day, if
-
you pray every day, and you come to church as
-
often as possible, your spirit man will look a lot
-
different than it does right now as well. Additionally, next
-
week is we're going to conclude our series on the
-
Holy Spirit.
-
Pastor Diego is going.
-
To be preaching and sharing and we're going to lean
-
into the physical healing of God and the physical healing
-
of the Holy Spirit. So if you have any illnesses,
-
if you know anyone that has any illnesses, We're going
-
to join our faith together, both on all our campuses,
-
all our service to believe.
-
God that He does physically still heal today. So I
-
want to invite you back next week.
-
Want to encourage you to invite someone to believe God
-
for healing and invite them next week. Otherwise, we have
-
service on Wednesday. I'll pray for us and we'll leave
-
here together. If anyone here needs any additional prayer at all.
-
You need someone to come into agreement with you. You
-
need someone to pray over your life. You just need
-
someone to give you hope in your life by praying
-
over you. Our elders, deacons and prayer team will be
-
up here in the front and they love to pray
-
for you. I'll pray for us and we'll leave here together. God,
-
we thank you for you to move of your spirit.
-
Lord.
-
I pray Lord for blessings on every person that they
-
may experience and encounter the Holy Spirit every single day. Lord,
-
give them the words, give them the mind, and give
-
