  1. If you're ready for God's word, would if you have

  2. a Bible you could turn to Luke nineteen. If you don't,

  3. I'll have it up on the screen, and so we

  4. could read that way in general as well.

  5. But if you'd like to follow along with me when

  6. Luke nineteen.

  7. We've shared this passage for about three weeks now, this

  8. will be our fourth week that we've shared this particular passage.

  9. I've cut it in half for the sake of time

  10. so that we could just read the second half of

  11. what we've been reading. And so, if you're ready for

  12. God's word, would you just stand so that we just

  13. give God our full attention as we hear from the

  14. Bible today, here's what God's Word says. He says, as

  15. he was drawing near, speaking of Jesus already on the

  16. way down on the Mount Olives, the whole multitude of

  17. his disciples began rejoicing and praising God with a loud

  18. voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying,

  19. bless is the King who comes in the name of

  20. the Lord, Peace in heaven and glory in the highest

  21. in Some of the pharisees in the crowd send to

  22. him teacher, rebuke your disciples, Jesus answered, I tell you,

  23. if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.

  24. You may be seated on Tuesday for our Christmas Eve services.

  25. We'll conclude this series with also kind of a music

  26. experience and an artistic experience, but will continue to kind

  27. of share about this theme that I believe in the

  28. Word of God. Not only do we see that all

  29. of creation glorifies God, but Jesus says that if humanity

  30. would be quiet in terms of praising God, God would

  31. cause an eruption of creation to praise him. And we

  32. know as a matter of fact that if you would

  33. get a microphone that has enough power, that every single

  34. thing God has created actually emits a sound. And so

  35. if you ever go online and just type what is

  36. the sound that rocks maker, what is the sound that

  37. space makes? They all have a noise, they all have

  38. a frequency, they all make a praise. That's because God

  39. caused everything under his creation and everything under his hand

  40. to make noise and worship him. In fact, you and

  41. I are created that way. And the theme of Christmas

  42. isn't just a theme where we look at this beautiful

  43. baby in a manger it's actually meant for you to receive,

  44. but not just receive, respond to it, to make.

  45. A joyful noise.

  46. When the Pharisees look at Jesus say hey, Jesus, your

  47. disciples are making way too much noise for you. Quiet down,

  48. Jesus says, if I told them to be quiet, everything

  49. else would just erupt because humanity was created to praise God.

  50. And a few moments, we're gonna see how there's a

  51. moment where Jesus is born and God makes an invitation

  52. to these shepherds that are out in the field caring

  53. for their sheep, and the Angel of the Lord through

  54. God invites the shepherds to make noise and follow Jesus

  55. to respond to a moment of celebration that Jesus is born.

  56. But earlier this week, I was at home and my

  57. youngest son, Thomas, was with me and Ashley, my oldest son,

  58. had gone away for the night with my mother in law,

  59. and so we just had my three year old Thomas,

  60. and he was in preschool and he had a book

  61. exchange and he got this book talking about God, and

  62. it was all about how God's created us for a purpose,

  63. how God has a purpose in our.

  64. Life and God loves us.

  65. And so Thomas, when we picked him up from school,

  66. he said, will you guys read me this book?

  67. Will you guys read me this book?

  68. Well, we had a long day and so we didn't

  69. make it home until the evening. And when we get home,

  70. Thomas once again says, Mommy, can you read me this

  71. book before bed? Ashley says, yeah, Thomas, let's go upstairs.

  72. Let's get in bed, and I'll read you the book.

  73. He said, okay, great. So I'm downstairs taking care of

  74. some things. I hear upstairs Ashley reading this book to Thomas.

  75. And what happens is is I start walking upstairs. I

  76. forgot and I didn't realize about three years prior, when

  77. I changed a bunch of light bulbs in our house,

  78. I had bought those smart light bulbs, you know, the

  79. ones were like it connects to your phone and you

  80. could tell Siri or Alexa whether you want it on

  81. or off or whatever.

  82. I didn't realize I had those, and I.

  83. Guess with Apple's new update, it just kind of automatically

  84. connected it all into my phone.

  85. So I'm walking upstairs and I noticed.

  86. On my phone for the first time, I hadn't seen

  87. it before. It says, you can control it says, Ashley's

  88. light is on, and I was like, Ashley's lighted on.

  89. I forgot that I had that, I had set that

  90. up a long time ago. Ashley's lights off. And it says,

  91. would you like to dim Ashley's lights? And I was like,

  92. I don't know. And so I'm walking upstairs and I

  93. stop at the stair and I see Ashley h reading

  94. this book to Thomas. And she's reading it and she's

  95. she's in the moment telling Thomas and God always has

  96. a purpose for our life. And at that point I

  97. dimmed the light. I didn't think it would work, Honest

  98. to God, I hadn't seen this before on my phone,

  99. and I dimmed the light.

  100. And as she goes.

  101. And she looks up to heaven, and at the same

  102. moment that she does that, I also changed the color

  103. from obviously white but to red.

  104. Boom, and then she drops the books. Oh, Thomas, she loves.

  105. She says, God's talking to us, and I'm looking at her.

  106. I'm like, no, you dummy, it's me. It's the fuck.

  107. And she looks at me and her face goes so rare,

  108. and she goes, I said, God, what's talking to me?

  109. And I said, and saying, what what is he saying?

  110. In that moment, he's been trying.

  111. I looked at her. I said, he's been.

  112. Trying to talk to you for a long time, so

  113. I guess it is believable that he wouldn't do that

  114. with the lights. And she starts laughing and she's completely embarrassed.

  115. And in the moment she goes, you're not gonna use

  116. that in a sermon, ever, are you?

  117. And I said, no, I don't plan to.

  118. Maybe one day and then sure enough, I'm studying for

  119. this weekend.

  120. And the word says that.

  121. A light appeared to the shepherds, and I said, there

  122. we go. That here's the story, believe it or not,

  123. that all happened for a reason this week. And so

  124. in Luke two eight to fourteen, as as crazy as

  125. that would seem, that God would mess with Ashley's lights

  126. to get her attention, appearingly, in Luke chapter two, God

  127. does come through an angel. The Angel of the Lord

  128. speaks to some shepherds in light. He comes as light,

  129. says that light shone all around him. Other translations and

  130. other passages would use this and use this name as

  131. like a star. So they see this beautiful star. We

  132. know that in the wise men they give Jesus three

  133. types of gifts.

  134. And they followed a star to Jesus.

  135. And so this star appears to shepherds. And here's what

  136. the star says, which is actually an angel that they see,

  137. And it says in the same region, speaking of Bethlehem,

  138. there were shepherds out in the field. They were keep

  139. keeping watch over their flock by night. And an Angel

  140. of the Lord appeared to them, and glory of the

  141. Lord shone around them. And they were filled with great fear.

  142. And the angel said to them, fear not, for behold,

  143. I bring you good news of great joy that will

  144. be for all people. For unto you is born this

  145. day in the city of David, a savior who is Christ,

  146. for Christ the Lord. And there will be a sign

  147. for you. You'll find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths

  148. and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with

  149. an angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God and

  150. saying glory to God in the highest and on earth,

  151. peace among those.

  152. Whom He is. Please you see.

  153. So there's a moment and one of the questions we

  154. have to ask ourselves, and if you study the Bible,

  155. there's always moments that you want to ask questions, and

  156. God's completely okay many times.

  157. With asking questions.

  158. One of the questions that would be asked in this

  159. story is God, when Jesus is born and you're inviting

  160. people to your son's birthday, what type of people would

  161. you invite or who would you invite? And God appears

  162. to shepherds that are in the middle of a job.

  163. They're looking after their sheep in Jesus's day, and their

  164. culture shepherds were, especially Rabbis consider them to be fairly

  165. dirty individuals because they were kind of nomadic, and so

  166. they would travel where with their sheep, wherever there was

  167. fresh grass, and so shepherds kind of rarely took showers,

  168. their clothes were often kind of dirty and smelly, and

  169. it was just work where for him. They often slept

  170. by tent out with their sheep, and so normally if

  171. a shepherd came into the city, it's like you could

  172. smell him before you see him, you know. And so

  173. if you were going to invite someone to your birthday,

  174. you wouldn't necessarily invite shepherds that are in the middle

  175. of their job.

  176. It would be for you.

  177. Let's just say, for instance, you know, we got some

  178. Hispanics in the room and some of Latinos in the room,

  179. and so imagine your daughter's having a king signetta, okay,

  180. Or for those non Hispanics, let's just say your daughter's

  181. having a sixteenth birthday, but a king signette is a

  182. little bit more appropriate because sixteenth birthday.

  183. They're nice.

  184. But if you ever get invited to a king signetta,

  185. I mean, it's just it's just chaos packed in one.

  186. There's dancing, there's a priest, there's drinking, there's celebration, there's food.

  187. It's just pure chaos. But it's very formal at the

  188. same time. So I want you to imagine you're on

  189. the way to this party and you pass by a

  190. bunch of construction were or you passed by some people

  191. that are working for Cowtrans and they have worked all day,

  192. all day, they have grinded this thing out. I got

  193. friends that are construction workers and contractors, and I'll see

  194. them throughout the week and I'll go to give them

  195. a hug and they'll be like, no, just shake my hand.

  196. I'm smelling, I'm stinky, and I'm like, no, it's it's

  197. all good.

  198. But imagine these individuals. You see them in.

  199. The job on the way and you say, hey, come

  200. to my child's wedding, come to my daughter's King Ciannetta,

  201. come celebrate with us. They would look and they would

  202. be like, are you sure us? First of all, we're

  203. in the middle of a job. Second of all, we've

  204. been working all day, and so we're dirty, we're smelly.

  205. We don't we don't. I don't have it.

  206. I don't have time to get a gift. I don't

  207. even have a gift. And then the angels like, oh,

  208. who cares? Your presence is his gift?

  209. Come visit him. It'd be like why, why mean why us?

  210. Well, immediately, what God is trying to communicate to us

  211. is the people that are normally on the outskirts of society,

  212. the people that you would normally not think, I mean

  213. construction and contracting it's a great living, but for a

  214. shepherd back then.

  215. It wasn't necessarily a great living.

  216. And so God immediately visits people that are on the

  217. edges of society, showing people that his son's birth is

  218. for everybody. He didn't show up to a local politician

  219. and be like, hey, come pay your respects.

  220. He didn't show up to the local.

  221. Business owner and say, hey, come love on Jesus. He

  222. showed up to men who were in the middle of

  223. a job, who are in the middle of doing something,

  224. and said, hey, why don't you come and visit the

  225. Savior of the world. And so in that moment, what

  226. happens is is they see a light and so I

  227. got my little light right here, and so these shepherds,

  228. this light appears to them and tells them, hey, I

  229. got good.

  230. News for you.

  231. The Savior of the world is born in you. Guy,

  232. can go visit him. Here's an invitation that the light

  233. is coming to you, and you could go visit him

  234. in his home where if you're taking notes, what happens

  235. is is they don't just go, oh.

  236. Wow, this is beautiful, what a great light.

  237. Most of us, if we saw an angel, we would

  238. be more consumed with people, with people knowing that we

  239. saw an angel than sharing with what the angel said.

  240. So if you're on your way home or you.

  241. Were laying in bed and a light comes in your

  242. room and God starts talking to you, would immediately go

  243. on Facebook and you'd be like, yeah, I just saw

  244. an angel.

  245. How do I know that? Because people do that with

  246. aliens all the time.

  247. I saw an alien tonight and it's like, no, it's

  248. just a family member who you know. But like, I

  249. saw an alien tonight. But the reality is the angel.

  250. It's not just about appearing to the shepherds. It's about

  251. giving them a message, come.

  252. And visit Jesus.

  253. And so what we see in the second point, if

  254. you're taking notes, what happens is is when you hear

  255. from heaven, it'll hurry your heart and it'll create haste

  256. in your life. God wants to create a hastiness in

  257. your life, it says in Luke two sixteen. And they

  258. went out with haste and found Mary and Joseph and

  259. the baby lying in a manger. And so this light

  260. appears to them and this angel starts speaking to them.

  261. Well, when they hear the good news, they're quick to

  262. visit Jesus.

  263. And a lot of times we're looking for more of

  264. these miracles of God without the message of God. We

  265. want this miraculous moments rather than just God, What are

  266. you trying to get me to do?

  267. Where are you trying to get me to go.

  268. When I was seventeen years old, it was the first

  269. time that I truly saw God's light.

  270. I grew up in a Christian home.

  271. I grew up with Christian parents, grew up with parents

  272. that were pastors, and so for much of my life,

  273. I figure that one day I would go to heaven

  274. and I'd be like, God, you gave me a Christian home.

  275. I had this like really sweet.

  276. Cross necklist that I would wear, and I would go

  277. to church on Sundays, and I was pretty nice to

  278. every person I met.

  279. In theory, you know, me and God are good.

  280. But when I was seventeen, there was a moment where

  281. I had to make a decision whether Jesus was gonna

  282. be my personal Lord and savior or not, whether I

  283. was gonna allow him to radically transform my life or not.

  284. So when I'm seventeen, first time I truly.

  285. Saw God's light in HD four K, I'm at my house,

  286. I come home. I had a girlfriend at the time,

  287. even though I wasn't allowed to have girlfriends at the time,

  288. and so I had a girlfriend at the time, and

  289. she was three months late on her period, and so

  290. I had figured in my head because I have parents

  291. that are in ministry. That what I'm gonna do is

  292. I'm gonna pack a bag and I'm gonna run away,

  293. because I'd rather than be able to say I ran

  294. away than shame them with whatever is going to be

  295. the outcome. That was the theory that I had in

  296. my head. So I go to my room and I

  297. get ready to pull a Duffel bag out. I'm gonna

  298. go to my girlfriend's house. We're gonna take a pregnancy test.

  299. We're gonna figure this whole thing out. But I'm gonna

  300. do it without embarrassing my family.

  301. That was my thought.

  302. So before I go in my room, my brother Caleb,

  303. who's my middle brother, he says, Adam, why don't you

  304. come into my room real quick? I said, Caleb, I

  305. don't have time. I gotta go somewhere real quick. And

  306. he said, just give me ten minutes. I said fine.

  307. He hands me his bible and he has me open

  308. up the Bible to Romans chapter two. He has me

  309. read all of Romans chapter two, and then he begins

  310. to share the gospel with me.

  311. The only thing this.

  312. Time is he said something that stuck in my heart

  313. that changed my life forever because as I was reading

  314. Romans too, who Jesus is and what Jesus did for

  315. me began to be very clear. For me, the message

  316. was clear, and so I begin to see the light.

  317. And then what happens is he makes a statement and

  318. he says, Adam, for every day that you sin, you're

  319. wasting a drop of Jesus's blood.

  320. And so in that moment, my heart broke. I felt wasteful.

  321. I felt like my life was wasting away, felt like

  322. I wasn't doing things fully the way that God had

  323. created me to live and living the way God created

  324. me to live. And so in that moment, I received

  325. Jesus as my Lord and savior. And what happens is,

  326. I said, this is what's gonna happen.

  327. I'm gonna call my girlfriend.

  328. I'm gonna tell her, hey, I'm not gonna come pick

  329. you up. Whatever the outcome is. I'm gonna talk to

  330. my parents. I'm gonna own up to whatever I did.

  331. So that was my thought. I said, I'm gonna.

  332. Call her, I'm gonna tell her that, I'm gonna tell

  333. her I just received Jesus as my Lord and savior.

  334. I go in the other room and I call her.

  335. I said, hey, do you have a second She said yes,

  336. But before you say anything, I just want to let

  337. you know that I just had my period right now.

  338. First of all, in that moment, I was like, whoo, okay,

  339. all right, so but but second of all, what I

  340. did was I number one first thing I did.

  341. I said, man, that's great. I'm so excited. Here's the thing.

  342. I don't feel like I'm making wise decisions. I think

  343. we should break up. So I broke up with her

  344. in that moment. But then I said, but I'm gonna

  345. be a friend, and I shared the Gospel with her.

  346. She received Jesus in that moment herself. She started coming

  347. to church here for a couple of years after that,

  348. and then today she's married to a pastor and they

  349. live in Arizona, and so she fully committed her life.

  350. To Jesus as well.

  351. But here was the reality for me, is when I

  352. saw the light, it wasn't just about being aware that

  353. I needed a relationship with God. It was taking the

  354. steps that I needed to take in haste, in a hurry.

  355. Not well, I was in the middle of something or oh,

  356. that's what happened with the shepherds when they were met

  357. with God's grace to say, hey, comep is it Jesus?

  358. They were like, well, let me go take a shower

  359. real quick, or who's gonna take care of the sheep.

  360. They didn't start trying to figure things. It said, they

  361. hurried with haste to meet Jesus. And when God begins

  362. to speak to you, we need to begin to have

  363. a hastiness to meet God where he's at, because God's

  364. making an invitation to you every single day, not only

  365. to know Him, but to live to your highest capacity

  366. that God has created and called you to be. And

  367. so there's a rush, and there's a hastiness that's created

  368. within their walk and within their life. And then what

  369. happens is is as they begin to hurry and pursue

  370. to meet Jesus.

  371. The third point is this.

  372. What happens is their faith begins to be anchored by hope.

  373. And so they meet Jesus and they begin to be

  374. anchored by seeing Jesus. And there are moments in your

  375. faith where God is trying to anchor you. To chapter

  376. twenty or chapter two, Verse twenty says and the Shepherd's returned,

  377. glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and

  378. all that they had heard as it had been told

  379. to them. So what happens is is God begins to

  380. manifest himself to the shepherds.

  381. And invite them to meet Jesus.

  382. They walk away encouraged to continue to live their life

  383. knowing that Jesus is alive, their Messiah is alive. And

  384. they went back, and it says they went praising God.

  385. And so they're more than likely the next day they

  386. would have been in the town village and someone would

  387. have said, how was your guys' day last night? They

  388. wouldn't have gone, you know, same old Samul, just a

  389. normal night. No, they would have said, let me tell

  390. you what happened. It would have built their faith in

  391. their trust up with God. And there are moments in

  392. our life that if we would step out in faith,

  393. and you would choose to hope in God and allow

  394. trust in God, what God will begin to do is

  395. he will give you moments.

  396. That will anchor you where you will see God faithful.

  397. You will see Him real if you would move with haste.

  398. But a lot of times we have an alternate story

  399. of the shepherds, and we'll be in.

  400. The field and we'll be like God, bring Jesus to me.

  401. If he's real, have him come to the field. I

  402. got things going on. Or God, let me figure some

  403. things out and then I'll go visit Jesus. Let me

  404. get clean first, let me get washed up first. Let

  405. me tell you, that's what we want to do a

  406. lot of times. Rather God the story of the Shepherds.

  407. God wants you exactly the way you are, but he

  408. loves you too much to keep you the way that

  409. you are. And so what we see is the shepherds

  410. leave as they are to visit Jesus. But it says

  411. when they come back, they're praising God for everything that

  412. they've seen her. In other words, they're changed because they

  413. met Jesus.

  414. And you and I are called by God.

  415. Jesus literally says that you and I are the light

  416. of this world.

  417. We are called to meet people.

  418. Where they are at, like God met the shepherds where

  419. they are at. You know, it's an incredible thing when

  420. you read the Gospels and you see moments in Jesus's ministry.

  421. You see the first people that he invites to his

  422. birthday the day he's born is shepherds. That's the outcast,

  423. that's the outsider. That's the person that you would never

  424. think God would invite to his birthday. And then what

  425. happens is is when Jesus starts his ministry at age thirty,

  426. who does he invite to be part of his disciples. Well,

  427. primarily he chooses fishermen, men who are good at farming,

  428. men that are good at cultivating, men that are good

  429. at working hard and being disciplined. And so he calls

  430. and even brings women that are disciples around them, and

  431. regardless of their past, he.

  432. Brings them in. And so you see.

  433. All types of people that become disciples, broken people, sinful people,

  434. hurting people.

  435. You have a tax collector.

  436. You have a man that's made with greed, you have

  437. a zealot, a guy who hates the government is and

  438. they're all on Jesus's squad. And so he's got if

  439. you ever remember the movie Goonies, like that is Jesus's disciples,

  440. all of them. And so he invites these shepherds, these outcasts,

  441. He brings Goonies onto his team. And then in the

  442. very last moments when he's on the cross, who's the

  443. last person that he invites to heaven with him?

  444. A thief?

  445. A criminal, someone that's done time, someone that would be like, oh, man,

  446. they need to pay for their sins, and Jesus looks

  447. at him. When the man says he asks for forgiveness,

  448. he asks to believe in Jesus. Jesus says, you will

  449. be with me in paradise. And so you see what

  450. type of people does God want to love? What type

  451. of people does God want to say? Well, if you

  452. look at these moments in his ministry, it's all kinds

  453. of people, and it's you and it's me.

  454. That's who he wants to save. You want shepherds.

  455. You want people in the middle of the job who

  456. know some one would invite to a party.

  457. You want to make disciples.

  458. All individuals who are looney and crazy and have quirks

  459. and have broken things. Some people have mental illnesses, some

  460. people have greed, some of them have broken it.

  461. They all get invited to be disciples with Jesus.

  462. And then at the end of his moments in life,

  463. there's a criminal, someone who's paying for their sins on

  464. a cross, and he says, Jesus, can I be with you?

  465. Majority of us would be like, nah, not you. Everyone

  466. else is welcome.

  467. But you know, but instead Jesus says, of course, you'll

  468. be with me in paradise. He even looks at the

  469. people who are crucifying them and says, Father, forgive them, for.

  470. They don't know what they are doing.

  471. It continually shows that Jesus' heart is to save those

  472. that you and I would normally think would have no.

  473. Interest in coming.

  474. Whoever you think that would never be interested to meet

  475. Jesus or to I'm the church, or receive prayer, those

  476. are the individuals that God cares about.

  477. The story of the shepherd.

  478. Is that person that you think would never receive Jesus.

  479. That's the one God wants. Jesus puts it this way.

  480. He says, I will leave the ninety nine sheep to

  481. go after one, the one lost, and he calls us

  482. to do the same. He calls us to be light

  483. and to bring light into dark paces so that people

  484. can find hope. You know, there was a moment a

  485. couple of weeks ago that we had an opportunity as

  486. a church where we went to one of the largest

  487. street where conventions, and I was a little bit out

  488. of my comfort zone because maybe like you, but as

  489. a Christian and someone who's been a Christian for a

  490. very long time. I tend to like environments that I

  491. can somewhat either control or I'm aware of however it's

  492. gonna go okay, And so I like to be around

  493. stuff that doesn't make me uncomfortable.

  494. I don't know if that's like you.

  495. And what happens is we go to something that I

  496. didn't know what was going to happen, but ultimately what

  497. happens is we went to talk about Jesus, but we

  498. didn't know exactly what God would do at this convention,

  499. and so we had the opportunity to share Jesus legitimately

  500. with hundreds of people over a weekend, and God did

  501. incredible things and so we got some of it on video.

  502. And I want to share with you where God has

  503. called us outside the church and it's you and me

  504. called the same way. Hey, with some Patriot here we

  505. are special announcement. We teamed up with a brand called

  506. Jesus Loves You. They were invited to the largest streetwear

  507. convention in America called Complex Con, and we worked together

  508. to do a Patriot church shirt collapse. But also why

  509. we've been here. This is a place where some of

  510. the most secular artists do hip hop and entertainment.

  511. This is where some of the largest streetwear brands.

  512. Do exhibitions, and so it's a really chaotic place. There's

  513. sixty thousand people here, and so the fact that we

  514. popped up a booth that says Jesus Loves you. One

  515. of the things we did as some of us pastors.

  516. I brought some of our pastoral team, is we started

  517. going through while people would come visit the booth and

  518. we would share about Jesus. You know, we've seen some

  519. really wild things while we've been here. Yesterday there was

  520. a brand walking through the halls here and they had

  521. fake nuns and they were walking around with communion cups

  522. with free condoms that anyone could take. There's a booth

  523. right next door to us that their entire collection has

  524. demonic signs and if the shirts say Antichrist on top

  525. of it. And here we are in the middle of

  526. that and people have been walking.

  527. Up to us.

  528. We have a sign over here that says free prayer.

  529. They've been come in and saying can you pray for me?

  530. Vice presidents and presidents of big companies that you would

  531. know of if I said, have come up and said

  532. I'm a Christian, I don't always publicize it. Would you

  533. pray for me while I'm here? And so we're seeing

  534. God do some incredible things. So we wonder what you

  535. do when you go to dark places. Our job is

  536. to share the light, and that's what we've been doing here.

  537. We've been sharing the light of Jesus and it has

  538. been impacting people's lives. So far, we have had hundreds

  539. of interactions with people where we've preached the hope of Jesus,

  540. and so many people have committed their life to Christ,

  541. even in a place like this.

  542. I'll give you an example.

  543. Sammy just yesterday with sharing the gospel with two young

  544. men and he made an invitation of faith to them.

  545. At that moment, he said, I would love to accept Jesus,

  546. but I feel like there's some things in my life

  547. that are a little contrary to that.

  548. And he's like, what do you mean.

  549. He's like, well, tonight, because this is in Las Vegas,

  550. he said, we're going to a Playboy thing tonight, and

  551. if I accept Jesus, I don't know that I could

  552. go to the Playboy thing. And Sammy encouraged him and said, hey,

  553. Jesus is intensely concerned with your heart. Right now, all

  554. your habits will change if you give Jesus your heart.

  555. And right there he said, I want to accept.

  556. Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior. And he

  557. led him through a prayer.

  558. This is what we're doing as a church is we

  559. believe that Jesus has commanded us to go in the

  560. highways and the byways.

  561. And preach the love of Jesus. So I got great

  562. news for you.

  563. We have some shirts that we brought back that I'm

  564. wearing called Jesus Loves You. It's got our patriot Church

  565. love in the back. This is something that you could

  566. share with friends that your church went out to the

  567. edges of culture and society and.

  568. Shared the love and hope of Jesus.

  569. So at all of our campuses today, feel free to

  570. go out the courtyard, grab one today and know that

  571. we're preaching Jesus and you could do.

  572. The same thing in your own community.

  573. Love y'all, see you out there. Praise done. Well.

  574. I'm gonna share with you a few more stories, but

  575. let me say this first. And we have a great

  576. church and our church loves representing Patria. And here's what

  577. I'll say First Service those shirts completely sold out, and

  578. so I'm sorry. Not only not even First Service got

  579. the shirts by half the line.

  580. It sold out, so some people.

  581. We probably should have put a limit short order, but

  582. some people were buying ten twelve fifteen shirt. They're like,

  583. it's an easy Christmas gift. And so here's what happened. Okay,

  584. within hopefully a week or longest week and a half,

  585. Jermaine has already messaged our supplier, we're gonna restock. Okay,

  586. so I know people were gonna try to get in line.

  587. I just want to tell you ahead of time it's

  588. not gonna be there.

  589. But we love our We never know, you know how.

  590. Much the church is gonna jump onto something or not.

  591. So we're gonna we're making more.

  592. But I will say there were some moments that one

  593. in particular was I had already gone to bed because

  594. I may look young, but I feel old, and so

  595. around eight or nine o'clock, I had already headed back

  596. to my hotel. But there's an artist named Travis Scott,

  597. and he was about he was gonna do a concert

  598. that night at the venue. His entire team came up.

  599. Travis did it, but his entire team who was about

  600. to go up and perform, went up to the booth,

  601. went and sought it out and said, hey, we heard

  602. that you guys are giving out free prayer.

  603. Can we get in on some of that?

  604. And so they prayed for the entire concert staff that

  605. was gonna go and perform in that moment. And that's

  606. oftentimes a first step for people. But one of the

  607. things we would do is we would boldly.

  608. Talk about Jesus.

  609. And there were many moments like I shared that one

  610. in particular, young man saying I want this, I need this,

  611. I see the light.

  612. I want to make that decision.

  613. But I got a Playboy party I'm going to tonight

  614. that I was invited to, and it was, Hey, do.

  615. You want to move with haste or not? What do

  616. you want to do in your life?

  617. Do you do you want to stand before God and

  618. do you want to say but God, that Playboy party

  619. was amazing? Or do you want to stand before God

  620. and say God? When I met you, I ran towards

  621. you with haste. I hurried towards you.

  622. There were.

  623. There were incredible moments like I have a video on

  624. Pastor Heron's praying for a young man, and you'll notice

  625. that as.

  626. He's praying, there's a there's a there's two guys.

  627. He turned around and they look and they notice them

  628. praying at that moment, and they watch.

  629. What often would happen is people would.

  630. Turn around and get in line and be like, can

  631. I pray after you pray for them? Can you pray

  632. for me? And there were moments that people would be

  633. so shocked. The founder of that convention, he had happened

  634. to mention. He came to the founder of the brand

  635. Jesus Loves You, and he said, I've invited a lot

  636. of Christians to share their lines. They were either Christian,

  637. you know, out loud, or they weren't.

  638. And he said, you.

  639. Guys are the first ones that ever one offered prayer

  640. to people and number two actually made invitations of faith.

  641. To people to follow Jesus.

  642. And he said, I'm gonna do whatever I can to

  643. make sure that you guys come back because more people

  644. need to be met where they're at on who Jesus is.

  645. And there was one other thing that really encouraged me.

  646. I could honestly talk for an hour of everything that happened.

  647. There's not enough time right now to share. But there

  648. was a moment there was a big brand representing wehere.

  649. What they do is they take technology and they do

  650. certain stuff. And there was like a forty minute line

  651. for people to buy. Everything that's released there is exclusive.

  652. It's kind of one of five hundred or whatever. And

  653. so you'll see our shirt is far in the background. Well,

  654. that's the owner of the company. The day before he

  655. bought the shirt and then he wore it all day

  656. and so that's him actually signing autographs for people of

  657. what he makes.

  658. And so he saw it and he was.

  659. Like, I boldly want to talk about Jesus when people

  660. are waiting in line for my company. And so then

  661. he immediately wears it the next day and he's immediately

  662. in that moment sharing the gospel with people who are

  663. there to buy something. But God met them in an

  664. unexpected way. And so when I look at this story

  665. of these shepherds, what you see as you see an angel,

  666. and you see our Lord who is willing to go

  667. to people where they're at. And you and I, if

  668. you and I carry the message of Jesus, if you

  669. and I actually fully recognize and we do what this

  670. major in this birth story of Christmas means God wants

  671. us not to just keep it in the four walls,

  672. but to share the hope of God with other people.

  673. You say, oh, well, I would love a light and

  674. angel experience. But when you read the rest of.

  675. The gospels, God met the shepherds through a light. But

  676. then God says, other people are gonna meet Jesus through

  677. your light, and so you're the very angel that people

  678. are looking for. You're meant to go somewhere, be different,

  679. talk different, act different, and show them. Don't matter how

  680. much of an outcast you feel. Don't matter how dirty

  681. you think you are. It doesn't mean how unclean or

  682. unworthy you think of you are. Of God's grace, it's

  683. available to you. That's the message of the Shepherds. When

  684. you read it, it's not just all how nice. Jesus

  685. is the great shepherd and so he met mess shepherds.

  686. It's like, no, you're supposed to read it.

  687. And when we see how outcasts they were, we go, oh,

  688. that's me.

  689. I need Jesus. If he could love them, he could

  690. love me.

  691. And if he can invite them into his home for

  692. his birth, then God will invite me into his home

  693. and welcome me into his place, and so I just

  694. want to make an invitation of faith for you here

  695. today is that if you've never made Jesus Christ your

  696. personal Lord and savior, and you feel that you see

  697. the light of God right now, you feel that God

  698. has been speaking to you, and there's a moment that

  699. God is calling you to receive him.

  700. I want to make an invitation today that you receive.

  701. Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior. We see

  702. that the shepherds moved with haste when they heard the

  703. message of Jesus. Let today and right now be the

  704. moment that you move with haste towards God. You may

  705. be telling yourself and asking yourself saying but if I

  706. say yes, I don't know what the next steps are.

  707. I don't know what happens after that. I don't know this.

  708. I don't know that that comes after.

  709. You don't have to worry about that right now.

  710. What you have to worry about is one day you'll

  711. stand before God, and you will stand before God and

  712. you'll either give an account for your life or you

  713. will stand there and Jesus will say, I know who

  714. this is.

  715. They receive me on earth. So therefore I receive them

  716. in heaven.

  717. Jesus also says, if you reject me on earth, I'll

  718. reject you in not because he desires that, but because

  719. if we reject God on earth, then we will be

  720. rejected in heaven.

  721. So you and I have an opportunity here on earth.

  722. Then when we hear the message of God's grace, that

  723. we respond to it, I say yes God, I need Jesus,

  724. and Jesus when he captures your heart, all of your

  725. habits and everything else that will begin to change.

  726. You can't do it alone. You need God's spirit.

  727. And the only way you can have God's spirit is

  728. by receiving God's son. And So, as you're here today,

  729. whether you're in the courtyard, cafe air, in this room,

  730. if you'd like to bow your heads at this moment,

  731. we're going to say a prayer together. And by no

  732. means the prayer is not the thing that saves you.

  733. We're affirming what God is already doing. But this prayer

  734. does symbolize a moment that you say yes to Jesus.

  735. So would you join me right now in this moment

  736. as many people will be saying it for the first

  737. time or rededicating their life would you.

  738. Say, dear Lord Jesus, in this moment, I repent to

  739. my sins. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Lord,

  740. and he rose from the grave.

  741. And from this stay forward, I commit my life to

  742. you in Jesus' name.

  743. Amen.
