  1. You may be new to service or church for the

  2. past couple weeks. When you leave service across our campuses,

  3. they do it different. So dream Team during the service

  4. in alamed or Pomona, maybe passing them out if you

  5. never got one. If you're here in Rancho when you

  6. leave service today, if you didn't get one of the

  7. journals over the past couple weeks, you can go see

  8. our guest services team, the dream Team, and they'll be

  9. able to grab one for you. So if you want

  10. to jump into your journal, we want to recap some

  11. things as we've been in something together as a church.

  12. What we've experienced as a church is that God has

  13. totally been breathing on Patria and we've been growing in

  14. incredible ways. And that has led us as a church

  15. to take an opportunity that all of us take a

  16. journey over the next thirty six months together the next

  17. three years, believing God that what He's been doing in

  18. our church, we want to fan the flame. And so

  19. in your journals you can see the projects that we're doing.

  20. What we're doing as a church is we're believing God

  21. that color coctively. If we all do our part in sacrifice,

  22. equal gift but equal sacrifice. We'll see that God does

  23. something incredible. And so we've started a twenty million dollar

  24. project together where we're believing God for some things. And

  25. I think, do I have to go over here closer

  26. to it in order for us to see it? I

  27. could do it. So over here we can see. We

  28. have some projects we're doing together as a church over

  29. the next three years, and so we want to be

  30. able to get into some churches and so literally as

  31. as soon as this week, I have meetings with real

  32. estate agents in Corona where we're looking at some properties

  33. because what happened was we're looking at least options owning options.

  34. And what happened was when we started launching Corona, more

  35. people came than we expected. And so Corona doesn't have

  36. a lot of opportunity for space, and so some of

  37. the cities new, some of it's older, but there's not

  38. a lot of opportunities for over five hundred people to meet.

  39. And so therefore we're looking at warehouses, office buildings. We're

  40. looking at an old like Best Buyer Toys r US

  41. that's empty, you know this week, and so we're just

  42. believing God for favor and we're believing as we take

  43. steps of faith that our church campuses will align with

  44. that faith together over the next three years, because we

  45. don't want to live in a world where we take

  46. on debt as a church. How many of you guys know,

  47. economy can change left and right. And I met a

  48. pastor not too long ago from Texas who they had

  49. to sell their church building because they couldn't afford the

  50. finances during COVID, So they sold their building and they

  51. consolidated their church in three campuses across the city of Austin.

  52. It just broke my heart, but it also sobered to

  53. me be saying, if we don't take care and we

  54. don't get out of our debts and we try to

  55. pay down everything as fast as possible or as much

  56. as possible, then what happens is we ebb and flow

  57. with the economy. And that may happen individually find Adams

  58. finances may change, but I don't want Patriot to be

  59. able to have to make decisions whether a campus is

  60. open or closed based off of finances. And so when

  61. we take care of our house, that's what we're doing.

  62. We're taking care of our campuses, We're taking care of

  63. Rancho you could see all the Rancho campus things that

  64. are happening, expanding our kids ministry, creating a teenage resource center,

  65. creating space for Alameda. I've been getting emails every week

  66. of opportunities in Alameda as well with our pastoral team

  67. up there with Fego and Tiffany, and so what we

  68. see is as God's been breathing on our church, we

  69. have an opportunity to align together. If this is your

  70. home church, If Patriot is not your home church and

  71. you're just visiting or checking us out, this is for

  72. you in any way, unless you'd like to be part

  73. of it, but there's no pressure on that. But what

  74. we do want is everyone who calls Patriot Home, we

  75. would love one hundred percent participation. We're just asking that

  76. you talk to God. Here's some events I want to

  77. share with you just too, and then we're going to

  78. jump in the message. We got two more events. Number one,

  79. we asked, let's continue to go to service every weekend

  80. as much as possible or watch online from March February

  81. first to March ninth. Additionally, what we're doing is two

  82. big weekends. I'd love for you to put them in

  83. your calendar because what's happening is there's two big weekends,

  84. March first and second is what we're calling our Commitment weekend.

  85. In your journals, you've seen these pledge cards that we've

  86. been asking you to pray over, to ask God, what

  87. is it that you would have our family doing. Me

  88. and Ashley have been talking about it. We had a

  89. number in our heart and as we've been doing this

  90. series and we're believing God for much, we talked to

  91. each other. So that felt like God's stretching us. But

  92. what I've also done is I say, God, if you're

  93. stretching me, then I live on a fixed income and

  94. so I need you to bring income in other areas

  95. for us, because we want to give it back to

  96. our church so that we can see God doing So. However,

  97. God's talking to you however you're at financially. Some can

  98. do more, some can do less. We're just asking that

  99. you ask the Lord. And on March first and second,

  100. we're gonna all come together and we're going to pray

  101. over these commitment cars. It's a commitment over three years,

  102. and you'll see on your pledge card what those kind

  103. of categories are on what you could kind of as

  104. examples commit to. And then what we're gonna do is

  105. we're gonna say this is what we're all committing to

  106. over the next three years, and we're gonna see what

  107. God does in our church. We just seen God do

  108. incredible things and we're believing God that he's gonna blow

  109. our mind. And then on March eighth and ninth, what

  110. we're saying is we're saying, hey, let's sow a one

  111. time seed to the Beyond campaign to start projects right away.

  112. As a church, we're ready to go. And so we

  113. need to pay for what we want to do. In

  114. kids ministry, we got to pay architects for architectural renderings.

  115. Believe it or not, people don't operate off of IOUs, okay,

  116. And so all this stuff we want to start, we

  117. want to be able to say when we go talk

  118. to an architect and say, hey, we want to start

  119. building out this space, they're gonna go, oh, well, we

  120. need a percentage of what the total cost is in

  121. order to start turning those into the city. What we

  122. want to be able to have finances from the Miracle

  123. Offering ready to go. Oh and with your church, patriot,

  124. you're gonna see stuff start literally within days after that

  125. miracle offering. So these are two really big things that

  126. we're asking anyone that calls this church their home to

  127. participate in across all of our campuses. And we're going

  128. to allow God to do the rest. Because what we're

  129. going to talk about today is what does it mean

  130. to hear the voice of God. One of the things

  131. that we talk about with this is as we're in

  132. this Beyond campaign, what we're saying is number one, in

  133. order to be able to see God take us to

  134. where he's taking us, we would at first had to

  135. be able to say, God, is this you? Are you speaking?

  136. Are you taking Patriot in this direction? To reach more people. Additionally,

  137. in the same way, we're also as we're asking people

  138. to partner with us, we're asking all of us to

  139. make a God decision, not a human decision. There's always

  140. something that you may put on your heart, but when

  141. you go and ask God, God may say something else.

  142. And so one of the biggest ball you'll have in

  143. your life, and you're lucky since we're in the Beyond

  144. campaign and we're blessed together, is as we're talking about

  145. hearing the voice of God, you're gonna be able to

  146. apply this to pretty much every area of your life,

  147. because how many of you guys have ever struggled before

  148. hearing the voice of God knowing what direction to go in? God?

  149. What do you want from me? What do you think

  150. I should do about this? Where do you think I

  151. should go about this? Should I move away? Should I

  152. not move away? And you're gonna see the examples this

  153. weekend that we're gonna be able to show how can

  154. I decide? How can I be guided on what the

  155. voice of God is? Three weeks ago when I was

  156. speaking and you'll see it's one of the ways that

  157. you can hear the voice of God. Three weeks ago

  158. when we launched this campaign, one of my biggest thoughts

  159. that I shared was every believer needs a home base.

  160. And then what I said in that conversation was, if

  161. we're not your home base and Patriot isn't your mix,

  162. I encourage you to go and I'll even make recommends

  163. to go find your home because the enemy wants you homeless.

  164. God wants you to have a home. So one of

  165. the things I said was in this church, if you

  166. feel God taking you somewhere else, like feel free. I

  167. pray you out there was two couples that came to

  168. me that said I had got a job offer in

  169. another state, and the only thing that was keeping me

  170. was thinking, I just don't want to let my church

  171. down with this new project that they're doing. And they said,

  172. the moment you said that we're released, they go, can

  173. you just pray for me that I find a home

  174. church in Texas. I'm like absolutely, And over the past

  175. couple of weeks I pray for multiple people, and I said,

  176. I'll even help you find a church if I know

  177. someone there to be able to get That is one

  178. way God may speak to you is when you are confused,

  179. God may bring a voice into your life that begins

  180. to confirm direction of what's already secretly in your heart.

  181. I want you to see this verse in the scriptures today.

  182. It's in John chapter ten, verse twenty seven to twenty eight.

  183. Would you enjoin me today's standing for the honor of

  184. reading God's word, because this is where we're gonna be

  185. at today with this thought a little bit two verses.

  186. As we've been doing to make it simple today, here's

  187. what it says for all those following along. This is

  188. Jesus speaking Jesus says, my sheep, hear my voice. I

  189. know them, and they follow me. Want you to sit

  190. right there? He says, I know them, And he doesn't say,

  191. and they know me. He says, I know them and

  192. what they follow me? Okay, I give them eternal life

  193. and they will never perish, and no one will snatch

  194. them from my hand. No one, no thing can snatch

  195. them out of my hand. You may be seated. Leave

  196. that up there for a second. Jesus says, my sheep,

  197. what here my voice? And I know them? I know

  198. who they are. I gotta spot them out in a crowd.

  199. And how do I know that I know them? Because

  200. they follow me? And he says, I give them eternal life,

  201. and they'll never perish, and no one will ever be

  202. able to snatch them from my hands. That was a

  203. great thing about a shepherd, and even shepherds to this day.

  204. Ever since a sheep is a little lamb, shepherds begin

  205. to make whistles and noises so that the sheep can

  206. identify the shepherd. And so what will commonly happen if

  207. you're in Israel or other parts of the world, is

  208. what shepherds will do is as their flocks are grazing.

  209. You know, every sheep looks exactly the same, and so

  210. what happens is when all sheeps look the same, not

  211. every shepherd's voice is the same and their call isn't

  212. the same. So how do you differentiate between individuals that

  213. look exactly the same. Not only do they know the

  214. shepherd's voice, but they respond to the shepherd's voice. So

  215. what shepherds do in Israel is you'll see them get

  216. mixed up with their sheep, will get mixed up while

  217. they're grazing land. And then you'll see multiple shepherds begin

  218. to whistle, and you'll just see sheep just begin to

  219. separate and go towards their shepherd. That's what Jesus says

  220. when he says, the sheep know my voice, And he says,

  221. and I know them? And how do I know them?

  222. Because they follow me. Just last week I was gone

  223. for the weekend. And so I have a dog named Rooster.

  224. He's not a rooster, he's a dog, but that's his name.

  225. I'm a big fan of Top Gun of Maverick, you know,

  226. And so I got Roosters my dog's name. He's a Doberman.

  227. And so last weekend I had Rooster at a kennel

  228. that watches over him. Because Rooster is a very protecting dog.

  229. He's been trained to look after my wife and kids

  230. and my family. And so Rooster is a highly trained

  231. military dog. Okay, if there was a Navy Seals of Dogs,

  232. Rooster would be in that, Okay. And so the thing

  233. about Rooster is I have to if I'm ever traveling,

  234. I have to take him to just there's a there's

  235. a veteran who owns a dog clinic nearby, and so

  236. they trained service dogs, so he knows they know how

  237. to work with Rooster. Not everyone could work with a

  238. dog like that. They're highly disciplined and so you highly

  239. have to discipline them. And so last weekend I was

  240. gone for most of the weekend, but at church, and

  241. so I asked Jacob, who's one of the young guys

  242. on our team who serves. I say, hey, can you

  243. do me big favor because we have a guest speaker

  244. and it's the Super Bowl? Could you me big favor?

  245. Could you go pick up Rooster and bring him over

  246. here for me so I can go straight home. He said, yeah,

  247. no problem, He's done it before. He helps a lot

  248. with Rooster. You know, with me and stuff like that.

  249. And so he goes to the kennel and it's just

  250. a young kid that's working there, and he says, oh, hi,

  251. I'm here to pick up Rooster. And so the guy

  252. brings a a doverman out and Jacob he grabs the

  253. leash and the dog pulls back, and then Jacob begins

  254. to use his commands that Jacob knows, and so he

  255. starts to say, you know, Rooster, come on. Rooster pulls

  256. back and he says, Rooster, where's your bark? The dog

  257. just stares at him. Rooster, come The dog just stares

  258. at him. Rooster, heel. The dog just stares at him. Finally,

  259. Jacob goes, hey, man, I don't mean any disrespect, but

  260. this isn't Rooster. And the guy looks at him, like,

  261. tell me how to do my job. He said, that's Rooster.

  262. Jacob said, I'm sorry to tell you this is not Rooster.

  263. And then he goes, there's no way that he was

  264. in Rooster's kennel that I know that that's Rooster. And

  265. Jacob's like, I'm telling you right now it's not. And

  266. he says, do you have another doverman in kennel by

  267. any reason. He says, yeah, but I know who Rooster is.

  268. I do have another Doberman, and he goes, can you

  269. get it? And so I showed you a picture. When

  270. you have Doberman's that are all lined up, they look

  271. exactly the same. They look exactly the same, you know.

  272. Some may be a little chunkier, skinnier, you know. And

  273. obviously to a trained eye me who's with Rooster every day,

  274. I would know right away because it's my dog. But

  275. Jacob's way of having to tell because it's not his dog.

  276. He's helping me out. He goes, can you get the

  277. other Dobrian. The doverman comes in the kennel, He gets

  278. the other Dobman that's not Rooster, and Jacob goes, Rooster, heal, Rooster,

  279. Rooster down, goes down, Rooster, where's your bark? Woo woo?

  280. Rooster come. Rooster lines up and then he looks at

  281. the employee and he goes, this is Rooster. And the

  282. guy goes, I'm sorry. What's the difference between a breed

  283. that looks exactly the same, bark's exactly the same, tends

  284. to eat exactly the same. The difference is is when

  285. the master calls, do the sheep are the people? Are

  286. we obedient? Do we listen? Obedience? Obedience dictates whether we

  287. are connected to the master or not. It's obedience. The

  288. thing that told Jacob right away that's not rooster was

  289. not because of the way the dog looked. It wasn't

  290. because the dog had a cross around its neck. It

  291. wasn't because the dog had a scripture in its bio.

  292. It wasn't because the dog goes to church on weekends.

  293. It was because when he said bark, the dog bark.

  294. When he said sit, the dog sat. When he said come,

  295. the dog came. There was no negotiation. When the master

  296. voice speaks, rooster listened, and he said that is how

  297. you know that's rooster. Jesus says, I know my sheep.

  298. In other words, I know they're small, subtle differences, just

  299. like me. I would have looked at that dog right away.

  300. I was saying, I don't need it to bark, I

  301. don't need it to be obedient. But but you know,

  302. we could just to double check to show you that

  303. this is my rooster. What I'll do is I'll have

  304. him follow me, and if he follows me and obeys me,

  305. that'll be proof to you the world that he's really mine.

  306. And so immediately Jesus stretches us. It's one thing to

  307. know his voice, it's one thing for him to know you. Yeah,

  308. of course, of course, you know you believe in the resurrection.

  309. You're gonna go to heaven. But are you gonna go

  310. to heaven with your butt burning and fire right on

  311. that door? You're like, Oh, I barely slipped in, barely

  312. made it. I said a prayer once. So he makes

  313. some differences. He says, Hey, my sheep, they hear me,

  314. they know my voice. Second of all, he says, I

  315. know them. But then he says, but when I speak,

  316. how you can really tell their mind? Is they follow?

  317. They follow Jesus. And there's a lot of situations in

  318. our life where we get into trouble because we aren't obedient,

  319. we aren't understanding the shepherd's voice, and we are clearly

  320. following him. Just disobedient children is disobedient children. And we

  321. think to ourselves, God, where are you. I haven't heard

  322. you in forever. Are you taking the steps to learn

  323. the Shepherd's voice? Because to follow Jesus appropriately, we have

  324. to learn how God speaks and when we learn how

  325. God speaks and we know what type of things God

  326. looks for in us, then I'll tell you this. Navigating

  327. your life, It's not that it won't be easy, but

  328. it will be clearer. You know, coming to faith is

  329. not a promise that faith will be easy. But I

  330. will tell you this, if you start to follow Jesus

  331. and you begin to learn his voice, the steps will

  332. become clear. And why I saw him says the word

  333. of God is a lamp unto my feet. It's not

  334. a light tower. It's not lighting up an entire city.

  335. God's word is lighting your feet, which means it gets

  336. clear one step forward at a time. But a lot

  337. of times we're saying, God, give me the whole picture first. First,

  338. give me the whole picture before I make any decisions.

  339. We're gonna go, and we're gonna make this even clearer.

  340. Right now, here's three things that we're gonna look at

  341. that ultimately lead us that I believe to be able

  342. to hear God's voice much clearer in our life. Here's

  343. an imperative first thing that you and I must do

  344. if we want to hear God's voice clearly. The first

  345. thing we have to do is we need a silence

  346. Satan's voice. First thing you gotta do is if you

  347. are looking to hear God's voice more clearer, then you

  348. and I must learn how to silence Satan's voice. Gotta

  349. be able to silence it. I want to see what

  350. happens is a lot of times when God speaks. I

  351. want you to see in Genesis what God tends to

  352. do when he speaks. God will speak in a pattern.

  353. God God will speak in a progress. So when God speaks,

  354. often times, and we saw it with Jesus statements, I'm

  355. the shepherd, they hear me, I know them, they follow me.

  356. In other words, he's sharing a pattern with you. I speak,

  357. I see them. In other words, no one can fake it.

  358. I know them. But also they're obedient. There's a step forward.

  359. It's very clear, and you'll see a lot of other

  360. times in scripture. Whether you want to hear the story

  361. of Abraham. It doesn't mean that their life is perfect,

  362. but it means as they're pat they're following God. There

  363. is a progress and a lot of times you'll see

  364. biblical characters they get into trouble when either they doubt God,

  365. question God, or just all around pause In life. His pause.

  366. You know, you see it with Jonah, you see it

  367. with other individuals in the Bible. You see it when

  368. they're just at a pause in light, they just pause,

  369. they back up. It's like, whatever, God, I'm starting to

  370. give up mentally, start to see things get messed up.

  371. And so what happens is Genesis one to three says

  372. that three to four says this, God said, let there

  373. be light, and there was light, and God saw that

  374. the light was good. And God separated the light from

  375. the darkness. In other words, there is a pattern and

  376. there is a progress. God spoke, let there be light.

  377. Then what happened when God spoke progress there was light?

  378. What happens after that? Now God sees the light and

  379. he deems it good. He qualifies that it was good,

  380. it's sufficient. And then what does he do separates the

  381. light from the darkness. There is a pattern that he does,

  382. and a lot of times what happens is when you

  383. see this patterns, we get stuck in a certain period,

  384. not knowing that God may be progressing our life. If

  385. God is in your life, there is a progress forward

  386. because that's how God operates. There is a pattern that

  387. God's doing. So if you ever feel like I talk

  388. to people, I just feel like I'm in limbo. That's

  389. not God. God doesn't operate in limbo even when people

  390. are on pause. Like Job, It's because God is in

  391. the process of doing something. In Job's life, there's a

  392. process even then. So what does God do? If God

  393. does pattern, what does Satan do in return? If we're

  394. learning how to silence God's voice, what will happen is

  395. Satan will operate in question. God has patterns. Satan has

  396. question for you to to question everything. Not in a

  397. question to not a wrestle, Jacob means to wrestle with God.

  398. God likes wrestling, but Satan brings questions. There's a difference

  399. between wrestling something with God and questioning God. Satan wants

  400. to lead you to questioning. Genesis chapter three, verse one

  401. to four. Just a few chapters later, says this, Now

  402. the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of

  403. the field that the Lord God had made. He said

  404. to the woman, Did God actually say you shall not

  405. eat from the tree, any tree in the garden? What happens?

  406. What happens? Satan issues a question which causes Eve to

  407. doubt God. Did he really say, does he really care?

  408. Does he really know you, does he really hear you?

  409. Does he really love you? Satan will question I have

  410. a different way of putting it on the next line.

  411. If you see it about Satan's question and what happens,

  412. give me the next verse actual the actual slide ahead. Okay,

  413. so Satan's first question did God actually say? I want

  414. you to pause right there? Does anyone know God's first

  415. question in the Bible. God's first question in the Bible

  416. is shortly after this, what does God say? God says,

  417. where are you? He asks Adam and Eve? Where are you?

  418. In other words, where's your position right now? Where are

  419. you with me right now? Adam and Eve? So what

  420. happens is when Satan asked a question, he wants to

  421. lead you to doubt God can't do anything. Doubt God

  422. can't do anything. He can't do any of it. When

  423. God approaches a question, what does he do? Where are you?

  424. He cares about where you're at? Are you good? Where

  425. do you got clothes? On? Who told you you were naked?

  426. Hold on? God knew what Adam and Eve were doing,

  427. but imposing the question to him, he wanted to reveal

  428. to them just where they are at. They're at a

  429. place where they've gotten to a point where they began

  430. to doubt God, which is what distance their relationship from God.

  431. It's distanced their placement from God. And so how many

  432. of you guys like this, We got our stairs And

  433. as we've been talking about the Beyond campaign, you haven't

  434. heard us give too much clarity on what the stairs

  435. is is kind of self evident, but it's the place

  436. that the final destination is where God, wherever God wants

  437. us as a church family, that we would hear God's

  438. voice so well that the doors God would cause us

  439. that costs to open and want us to walk through,

  440. that we will understand God's voice so well that we

  441. will step through those doors. And what will happen is

  442. through this journey as a church that we've taken for

  443. over thirty years and here we're at now for another

  444. thirty we want to go for the next generation. What

  445. happens is through these steps of stairs. How many of

  446. you guys have children and grandchildren. One of the things

  447. that drives me nuts is my boys. They play with

  448. legos and they leave them everywhere. And then I'll be

  449. walking around the house and I'll go a step and

  450. out and it's just painful. I'm a pain right now,

  451. and most people, or a lot of people, this is

  452. the first step. This is Satan's voice right here, and

  453. Satan would love for you and I to stop right here,

  454. stop at the pain, stop at the pain. Satan would

  455. love for us to stop here and then just sit

  456. here and then look up and be like, well, God,

  457. I can't go any closer. It hurts every time I

  458. take a step. They don't know that at some point

  459. it ends. They don't know at some point God will

  460. grow them out. If they don't know, at some point,

  461. the pain and the journey may be different, but it's

  462. not the pain, and so Satan's voice will get you

  463. right here. This is where Adam and Eve were for

  464. that first moment. They just stop right here where it

  465. was painful, where they're just like, oh, God, lets us

  466. see everything but this one thing. And then Satan causes

  467. them to question and doubt God. And so then what

  468. do they do they say here? And what results? Adam's

  469. hard work is painful, and Eve has pain in childbirth.

  470. The fruit of doubting God was pain. And there's a

  471. lot of people, even when we come to church and

  472. we think to ourselves, God, you are my indestination. Where

  473. are you heading us? Is where I want to go?

  474. But every step hurts so much that you just stop

  475. right here because you think every step is gonna hurt.

  476. So you think I just stop right here. And so

  477. we stop in our broken marriage, and we stop in

  478. our addiction, and we stop in our pain, and we

  479. stop in our unforgiveness, and we stop in our trauma

  480. because we don't think that Jesus can't free us and

  481. heal us. And so so many times, instead of going Okay,

  482. I'm gonna take one more step forward, I'm gonna take

  483. one more step up, a lot of people they stop

  484. right there. You may know people today that they've stopped

  485. their whole relationship with God because of pain. And I'll

  486. tell you this, stopping right there, that's not them hearing

  487. God's voice, that's Satan going. I got you to doubt God.

  488. I got you to question God, because what God wants

  489. to do is what he cares at when you are broken,

  490. when you are from from God. God's concern is where

  491. are you at? What's going on? I love my wife

  492. and all the time when I call, even though I

  493. have her location on my phone that I could check anytime.

  494. My first question when I asked when I call my

  495. wife when I get home and she's not home and

  496. not in like I'm trying to like tag on her anything,

  497. just because I love her, I'll call her. I'll be like, Hey,

  498. where are you at? I may have a question, but

  499. my first question is where are you at? And she'll

  500. do the same with me. Where are you I'm like, Oh,

  501. I'm at lunch with Sosa, Okay, call me later. It's

  502. not just her jump in here. She always wants to

  503. where am I at? God loves you so much that

  504. one of the questions he wants to ask you all

  505. the time is where are you at? And one of

  506. the best things you could do is when you're trying

  507. to discover God's voice, is when you go to God

  508. in prayer, tell God where you're at right now? You

  509. gotta keep it real with God. God. I'm naked. I've

  510. been building my own clothes out of fig leaves, and

  511. I've been hiding from you behind bushes. That's where I'm

  512. at right now. God, Like I'm done, i wanna hide,

  513. i wanna walk away. That He wants you to say that,

  514. so then he can say, Okay, you want to stay

  515. in that bush, you want to stay in those fig leaves,

  516. you want to step out? And we got to be

  517. able to answer God because what will happen is then

  518. obedience will dictate. Are we really wanting what God has

  519. for us? And here's the second thing is, as we're discovering,

  520. you got to silence Satan's voice. And here's Satan's voice.

  521. Satan's voice wants you discont from God and he wants

  522. you fully in sin. Now here's the thing. You may

  523. get to a point in your life where you say, Okay,

  524. I'm fairly well with uh. You know, I can tell

  525. when Satan speaks. I can tell when he's trying to

  526. guide me. I can see it, I can spot it.

  527. But I'm still feel kind of disconnected from God. I

  528. still feel like I don't hear his voice. Well, here

  529. might be the second reason. And it teeters between these

  530. two reasons or why oftentimes God's voice is muted in

  531. our life. We have to silence Satan. But the second

  532. thing is is you have to filter the world's voices.

  533. You gotta filter the world's voices, so you may be

  534. good at silencing Satan's voice. But then you gotta filter

  535. the world's voice. Now here's the thing. It's not silence

  536. the world's voice, because there are people you will do

  537. life with that. Unfortunately, you just can't silence like there's

  538. family members did I mean, I guess you could, but

  539. it's probably not gonna end. Well, you can't fully block.

  540. You know, a family member, can't just fully block your mom.

  541. You can't fully block your dad. You can't fully blocking

  542. in law. You may feel like it at times, but

  543. it wouldn't be beneficial. But what you can do is when

  544. all those voices spread, and when you turn on the

  545. TV and you watch all the news, and then you

  546. go on social media and you see everything coming at you,

  547. and then you go to work and you hear it

  548. and you just hear it and you hear. What you

  549. can begin to get good at is you can filter.

  550. Been a filter. How many of you guys have ever

  551. seen a dirty pool? Before you ever seen a dirty pool,

  552. it's like a broken down filter that just that pool

  553. is so dirty. And then what happens is one of

  554. two things happens is if you see a dirty pool,

  555. more than likely you have an unfunctioning filter or if

  556. you see a clean filter, if you see a clean pool,

  557. you have a dirty filter. So if you saw a

  558. pool like this, more than likely at times over time,

  559. what's gonna develop is the filter is gonna be dirty.

  560. That's what a filter would look like. It's doing its job.

  561. The pool is clean and the filter is working. At

  562. some point you got to change the filter out, put

  563. a new one. But the goal of it is you

  564. want it to collect all the dirt. And so you

  565. and I what we have to do is we have

  566. to get to a point in our life where we're

  567. able to filter out the world's voices. Not take in

  568. the good and the bad. No, take in the good

  569. and release the bad. If advice comes, take the good advice,

  570. spit the old bad advice down. If you got friendships,

  571. may take good friendships, and there may be time you

  572. got to spit out bad friendships too. So be times

  573. that happens where we have to take in what God

  574. says is good and we got to release what is

  575. said back. And you and I have to get to

  576. a place where we can see the filters that God has.

  577. First John chapter two, verse fifteen to sixteen says do

  578. not love the world or the things in the world.

  579. If anyone loves the world, the love of the is

  580. not in him. For all that is in the world,

  581. the desires of the flesh, and the desires of the eyes,

  582. and the pride of life, is not from the Father,

  583. but it is from the world. Jesus encourages us that

  584. there are voices all around us all the time that

  585. are trying to be louder than God's. So you get

  586. to a point that you know how to silence Satan's

  587. voice so you can feel it. You can jump out.

  588. You're like saying, you don't got those tricks. I'm not

  589. addicted to nothing no more. I'm free. I don't be

  590. watching things no more. My language has changed my life

  591. is So you could dance on this step all day,

  592. right like, man, I'm free, God's delivered me, I'm healed,

  593. Praise God. And then what happens. You're like, okay, I

  594. can move up. And then you go to these steps

  595. and then you just where all that noise coming. Now

  596. it's just loud. So you're like, God, talk to me.

  597. You gotta make a decision like is that God? I

  598. don't know. And what you gotta do is as you

  599. get God's voice. Well, you'll be able to know that's

  600. not God. God wouldn't say that that was you know,

  601. I'm my best friend, I appreciate you, I love you.

  602. But you're just squawking right now. That's not God right now.

  603. That's not God right now. Or I appreciate you. You may

  604. care about me, al that's not God right now. And

  605. so what happens is is just because it's loud, just

  606. because it's noisy doesn't mean it so God. Sometimes we think, God,

  607. just give me a cloud in the sky and I'll

  608. do it. And we just start cryptically reading clouds, like

  609. is that a heart? Does that look like a heart?

  610. Try to decide to marry someone? Hey, does that look

  611. like a heart? It just we're injecting junk, and we're

  612. looking everywhere other than where God speaks. And so we

  613. got filtered the voice. So then here's the last voice.

  614. Is we just uncover this for the last few moments

  615. we have. Is what happens is is if you can

  616. silence Satan's voice and you can filter the world's voices,

  617. then the third what you will begin to do is

  618. now you'll begin to be able to hear God's voice.

  619. A lot of times one of the first things I'll

  620. do with people that are like, I just feel like

  621. I can't hear God. I feel like I'm trying to

  622. make some big life decisions, and I'll ask them what

  623. their pattern looks like. Who's the people closest to you

  624. when some goes down? Who do you call? Who do

  625. you listen? Okay, oh, I call my best friend. Does

  626. your best friend go to church? Oh gosh, no, no

  627. she doesn't. She like she like goes and does this

  628. thing once a year in like Columbia, and then you

  629. know she and then she drinks this tea and then

  630. she does this and then she But she's my best friend.

  631. That's who you're calling for wisdom on where God is

  632. guiding your life somewhat. Someone who looks at crystals and

  633. thinks that they talk to them, that's who you're calling.

  634. Or you're like, oh, yeah, I'm deciding if I should

  635. marry this girl or not. Well, who you talk to?

  636. My best friend? Is your best friend married? Oh? No, man,

  637. he'd be taking a girl home almost every day from

  638. the gym. All right, hold on, that's who you're talking

  639. to on whether you should take them. See a lot

  640. of times we don't realize how foolish we are when

  641. it comes to detrie trying to decide God's things. We'll

  642. realize the voices we're taking are not God. No mean

  643. you gotta cut him out your life. But you better

  644. know on the hierarchy of voices, where they sit, where

  645. they sit, And God's voice is number one. And so

  646. how do we hear God's voice? What will happen? Is

  647. two Timothy for the first part, and it'll be the

  648. biggest value of your life. Tewod Timothy chapter three, verse sixteen.

  649. All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching,

  650. for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that

  651. the man of God may be complete equipped for every

  652. good work. What is the number one place that you

  653. will find that God speaks to you? What do we

  654. call this? Let's just let's just do it interact. What

  655. do we call this? This is the Word of God. Okay,

  656. so we're trying to hear God's voice. He gives us

  657. something that we call the Word of God, and we

  658. never open it, and we don't read it, we don't

  659. study it. Said, well, I struggle with it. I courage

  660. you get a study Bible have someone help you along

  661. in studying. Get a commentary Bible where they're commentary. You

  662. can learn it, you can understand it. God would not

  663. give you something that you can't understand. It may be

  664. a learning curve at first, because we got a lot

  665. of filtering. You don't realize how much filtering you gotta do.

  666. I can take a group of children. My son came

  667. home one day from school and memorized all of the

  668. fruits of the Spirit and the three verses that followed it.

  669. And I was like, I don't know a grown adults

  670. who know one of the fruit of the spirit. And

  671. if I taught it all day, they wouldn't even be

  672. able to remember it the next day. Not because adults

  673. aren't smart. It's because we got so much junk up here.

  674. We got so much junk in here that there's a

  675. lot going on. But as a child man, he's fresh

  676. all that sticks out. Joy, love, peace, self control. Oh yeah,

  677. I remember those. I can retain those. So God will

  678. often and He's gonna speak in this word. And so

  679. if you're ever at a point in your life where

  680. you're trying to understand the voice of God and you

  681. aren't reading God's word then I pray he does a miracle,

  682. but I also pray that he taps behind at the

  683. same time, because if he gave us something for us

  684. to know not only how to be saved, but how

  685. to guide our life and we don't read it, then

  686. we're missing out on his voice. We literally call it

  687. the Word of God, and so God will oftentimes use

  688. his word to guide you. You could also use his

  689. word to filter out junk. God, does this sound right?

  690. Let me study the word of God. Let me study

  691. the life of Jesus. Because what will happen is the

  692. first thing will happen is God's word will begin to

  693. speak the lagos his word. Scripture John chapter one, verse

  694. one says that Jesus is the Logos in flesh. So

  695. Jesus is the Word of God in flesh. And then

  696. he gives us his word, which is everything that we

  697. need to sustain our life. And then what will happen

  698. is as the word is read, the rama the convertible word,

  699. where the Holy Spirit begins to translate this to you,

  700. where the Holy Spirit begins to make it make sense

  701. for you. Well, what happened is God will begin to

  702. help you understand it. But a lot of times we're

  703. not reading enough. Most of the time when I talk

  704. to people who are saying I tried the Bible, but

  705. I didn't understand, Austin, how much of it did you read?

  706. Like half a chapter? I just didn't get it. Opened

  707. up the Book of Matthew and there was just names

  708. for a whole chapter and I didn't know. I didn't

  709. know who they were. So I closed it and I thought,

  710. oh God, this can't be for me. But anyways, pastor,

  711. can you pray for me. I'm trying to get some

  712. direction on whether I should take a job or not.

  713. And I'm like, yeah, I can do that, but I

  714. can't do anything better than what God can do for you.

  715. And the spirit of God is impartial and he'll speak

  716. to you too, And so you got advantage where you

  717. talk to God all the time. And there was a

  718. moment a couple months ago, I took my boys camping,

  719. and so we went camping up up in Big Surn.

  720. We stayed at this campground, and at a lot of campgrounds,

  721. I'll have these little like mini grocery stores where you know,

  722. they'll have firewood and they'll have you know, SODA's and

  723. drink you don't play. Don't you don't have to play

  724. that video yet you're giving away the best part. Yeah,

  725. I'll give you guys the queue. Uh. So, they have

  726. this little grocery store in this little market, and so

  727. we're staying about one hundred yards. Our kind of camp

  728. round was like one hundred yards away from this little market,

  729. and so Matthias comes up to me and I can't

  730. even see it at the time, and he says, Dad,

  731. can you take me to go get Can I go

  732. get a popsicle? Can you go take me? And I said, uh,

  733. I said no, I don't. I don't want to get up.

  734. How many guys know that? Parents, You're like, no, I

  735. don't feel like it. I just sat down. I just

  736. finished kicking the all food. No, and that's out to myself.

  737. You know what, this is what I'm gonna do. Matthias

  738. is six, Thomas is three. I say, here's what I

  739. want you to do. I'm gonna give you ten dollars.

  740. I want you to go to the grocery store and

  741. I want you to buy the popsicle. And he's like

  742. can I do that? Like, yeah, you could do that, Matthias.

  743. So so so I said, here's what's gonna happen is

  744. a few things gonna happen. I need you to remember

  745. all of it. Number One, you're gonna go, but you

  746. also have a brother, So make sure that you get

  747. a popsicle for him because you're gonna come back and

  748. he's gonna be like, where's mine. So you're getting two,

  749. not just one, not just one for you, You're getting two. Second,

  750. the popsicles are not gonna cost five dollars each, so

  751. you're gonna get money back. I need my change back.

  752. It's not a full donation. Son, the money comes back

  753. to me. He said, okay, I said. Third, you're gonna

  754. tell the guy you don't know how to count, and

  755. you don't know how much the popsicles are. Can he

  756. help you. He's gonna tell him right away. You don't

  757. know what you're doing. He said, okay. So he takes off.

  758. I give him the money. He takes off halfway back.

  759. He turns around and he looks at me and he's like,

  760. and I'm like, you got it. So he runs in

  761. the grocery store. And what he didn't know was I

  762. ran all the way around all the other campground, all

  763. the tents, all the RBS, and I put my ear

  764. right by the door, so the whole time listening, making

  765. sure that he's okay, making sure he does it well,

  766. making sure he don't freak out. And so sure enough

  767. I hear him do the whole thing. And then before

  768. he walks back out, I get halfway back to the

  769. campground so that he doesn't know I was listening the

  770. whole time, and he looks at me. He's holding both

  771. popsicles up and he's so excited and he's so happy.

  772. And he comes back and then I was just wait,

  773. I didn't even tell I wasn't even gonna ask for

  774. my change back. I'll just say, is he gonna give

  775. me my change back? So he comes back, he's like, Dad,

  776. I got it, Thomas. Look what I got for you.

  777. Tom is like, oh, you got this for me? Thank you.

  778. He's so happy. He's like, I got this for you.

  779. I went and bought it and like, okay, yeah sure.

  780. And so we do that with God's money all the

  781. time anyway, but that's for later later sermon. He's like,

  782. I got this for you and he's like, oh, thank you.

  783. And so then he takes it, and then I wait

  784. A couple minutes and then the this goes, Oh yeah,

  785. that's right, Dad, here's your change back, gives me back

  786. the change, and so then now for the rest of

  787. the trip. I knew that he understands everything I ask

  788. him to do. So what happened was the moment he

  789. did it the way that I told him to do it.

  790. I trusted him the rest of the week. And so

  791. then the next day he said, can I take Thomas

  792. and you can play the video? Now, can I take

  793. Thomas to go buy some popsicles? And I said, yeah,

  794. you could go take Thomas, And so I pulled out

  795. my phone and I pulled out my camera and I

  796. recorded them both buying themselves some ice cream, both waiting

  797. for their change back for the rest of the trip.

  798. And you'll just see how excited they come out. Thomas.

  799. He don't know what he needed to do, but look

  800. how excited Atthiasis. That boy starts beaming with excitement with

  801. the change. Why Why did I trust them with more responsibility,

  802. more resources, more opportunity because they followed my instructions. And

  803. what happens is when we can follow God's instructions, he

  804. can put more honest. When we can hear God's voice.

  805. He can say things loud, but there's a lot of

  806. times God's speaking, but God tends to whisper. When the

  807. world tends to loud yell, God speaks in a whisper.

  808. The world screams, and so we're waiting for God to

  809. scream the way that the world screams. Oswald Chambers said

  810. it like this. The voice of the spirit is as

  811. gentle as a summer breeze, so gentle that unless you're

  812. living in complete fellowship and oneness with God, you'll never

  813. hear it. You ever caught someone say, oh, it's a

  814. little breezy, and you're like, I don't know, I can't tell.

  815. God's voice is similar to a summer breeze. It's light,

  816. it's consistent, and you got to stop and pay attention

  817. in order to catch it. That's how God's voices does

  818. not scream. And here's so what God will do is

  819. he'll speak through his word. As I begin to close,

  820. the spirit of God will speak through the raima. What

  821. God will do is begin to transform your heart so

  822. that you hear him more clearly. The more time you

  823. spend in prayer, the more time you spend in His word,

  824. The more that the Holy Spirit will speak louder in

  825. your heart. And then what God will begin to do

  826. is he'll speak through community. If you can get around

  827. godly community, God will speak through that community. John ten

  828. twenty seven. Jesus says, my sheep hear my voice, and

  829. I know them, and they know me. I give them

  830. a saver and they will never playish. It's a group thing.

  831. It's that we can actually hear God more clear than together.

  832. It's strange when one sheep is following a shepherd's voice.

  833. It's not strange when a collective group of sheep are thought,

  834. Oh okay, all the sheep are hearing and together when

  835. we follow Jesus, what will happen is is you'll see

  836. that God's word will stick out. Because we got a

  837. lot of great people in our church. We got seasoned

  838. people in our church, in our faith. And I'll tell

  839. you this. When I talk to a married couple that's

  840. been seasoned, if I'm thinking about doing they got a

  841. healthy marriage and I'm thinking about doing something that with

  842. my marriage, like, oh, we may do this or that.

  843. And a married couple that's been seasoned, that's been in

  844. the present gun, they're like, I wouldn't recommend that. I

  845. wouldn't go, oh, yeah, well that's your two cents. I'm good.

  846. I would say no, that actually it means a lot

  847. because I've seen that you hear the shepherd's voice. I

  848. see it in the way that you pray. I see

  849. it in the way that you read your word. So

  850. why would I. There's been times in my life that

  851. I've felt so strong towards something and I've sat with

  852. my dad. I'm like, hey, what do you think about

  853. it this? He's like, yeah, no, I wouldn't recommend it.

  854. And I have a rule that with people that I

  855. believe speaking in my life, when if something doesn't make

  856. sense to if something makes sense to me but something

  857. doesn't make sense to them, I follow their instructions. If

  858. they've been down a path that I want to go,

  859. why would I tell them where the terms are? And

  860. so there's sees in people in the church. That's why

  861. we do neighborhood groups here. That's why we want you

  862. to get to a point where you can pass all

  863. the voices so that you can get to a point

  864. in your life where you see advantage, point of where

  865. God is not just to stay here, but to invite

  866. someone else. Hey, watch that step. No, don't I want

  867. to step right there. That one hurts. So I stepped

  868. on that one in ninety six. Don't step right there.

  869. I stepped in that one in college in two thousand

  870. and nine. Don't step there. I listened to that loser

  871. ten years ago. Don't listen to that boys, I listened

  872. to that kind of music. I'll tell you where that

  873. led me. I'll hang out with those kind of people

  874. I want to. I'll tell you where that led me, why,

  875. and what will happen. What may have taken you thirty

  876. years to get right here, you can help someone else

  877. get there in five. If we're doing community together, we

  878. could lean on each other. We could get to where

  879. God wants to take us. And so you're not just

  880. called to your own development. You're called to take someone

  881. else with you. And there'll be a day that you'll

  882. take your grandchildren with you on that journey. You'll take

  883. other married people in this journey. You'll help other people

  884. in the seasons of singleness. You'll help other people in

  885. single in seasons of life that you face that you

  886. wouldn't want another person to face. But you've been there,

  887. and other people will be there, Yah will call you

  888. to help other people. I want to encourage you with

  889. this last thought. If you want to really grow in

  890. understanding God's voice, here's a four step method that's really

  891. easy and I'll say it really fast. First thing you

  892. do is you go to scripture. You observe it. So

  893. first you read scripture. Next thing you say is you

  894. observe it. What is this saying? So what is it saying?

  895. Not to you but just in the moment? What is

  896. it saying? What point is the scriptures trying to make.

  897. It's called the soap method. It's been around a long time.

  898. Many people use it for devotional time. Many people have

  899. heard it. Then what you do is you observe it.

  900. When you observe it correctly, then what will happen is

  901. now you can apply it. What is this saying to me?

  902. And what do I need to do to change or

  903. what do I need to do to apply this? And

  904. then lastly, don't ever forget this part. A lot of

  905. people stop right here, So you go to prayer God.

  906. Whatever I just read right now, would it transform my heart?

  907. Right now? I feel like a David. I feel like

  908. I'm hiding in a cave. Right now, or feel like

  909. I made a best sheeba mistake. God, may I need

  910. your help. I need you, and you begin to pray

  911. it so that the raima can transform you. And so

  912. you do scripture, you observe it, you apply it, and

  913. then you pray it. I'll tell you this, If you

  914. can silence Satan's voice, if you can filter the world's voices,

  915. know which are important for your life, know which aren't

  916. important for your life, and then lastly you can observe scripture,

  917. apply it and pray it. You will see God lead

  918. you so clearly in your life. And there may just

  919. be times that you feel are unclear, but that's just

  920. God trying to get you to rest your faith on him.

  921. He just wants you to lean on Him more in

  922. times of unclarity, and that is the point of what

  923. Jesus is trying to do. I just met with someone

  924. recently and they said, I just don't know what I'm

  925. supposed to do in this season. I feel like everything's

  926. hitting me. And I said, well, have you been leaning

  927. on God? Not really? And I'm like, well, I've lean

  928. on him. Lean on him. He wants you. He's there.

  929. You may feel like you're in limbo right now, because

  930. he just wants you to lean on him, want you

  931. to rest in him. That's what Jesus wants us to do.

  932. I'll pray and we'll close to leave together. Lord, thank

  933. you for this word today, God, I pray it may

  934. transform our heart and mind together in Jesus' name. Amen,

  935. you may be here today as we leave together in

  936. just a few moments, and you may be far from Jesus.

  937. If you're truthful and honest, you would say, I don't

  938. know Jesus's voice. I don't know that I've ever heard

  939. God's voice. I don't know that I've ever felt God

  940. trying to talk to me or reach me. But today,

  941. as you were listening, what maybe happen was the Holy

  942. Spirit begin to knock in your heart. And what happened

  943. was God began to speak to you in such a

  944. rich way that Jesus began to say, follow me, follow me,

  945. follow me. The first step to hearing the Shepherd's voice

  946. is responding to the first call that God ever makes.

  947. You only ever know God's voice when you respond the

  948. first time his call, when He comes on your heart

  949. and he says, let me in, and Jesus says, whoever

  950. opens the door and ask me to eat with them,

  951. I'll join them. And so, as Jesus knocks on your

  952. heart and wants us to recognize today that his death

  953. and resurrection was for you and I. It wasn't to

  954. make a political point, it wasn't to start a revolution

  955. of people. What it was meant to do is to

  956. redeem our souls, redeem our hearts, bring us into perfect

  957. relationship with the Father, and then the Holy Spirit would

  958. come and walk with us in life, begin to renew

  959. our minds, begin to allow us to grow in our

  960. relationship with Jesus. And So, if you're here today and

  961. you've been far from God and you're ready to make

  962. that decision to follow Jesus and confess him as Lord

  963. and Savior, and I encourage you at this moment, can

  964. we all bow our heads and close our eyes. Some

  965. of you are going to be praying this for the

  966. first time, or you're going to repraying it again in rededication,

  967. because as you've looked at your life, he says, I

  968. really haven't been following my shepherd. But I want to

  969. choose today wherever you're at in your season of life,

  970. as you're ready to join the Lord's call and ready

  971. to join Heaven. I want you to repeat after me, say,

  972. Dear Lord Jesus. In this moment, I confess you as

  973. Lord and Savior. I believe in my heart that you

  974. died on the cross and you rose three days later.

  975. From this day forward, I commit to follow you for

  976. the rest of my days in Jesus' name. A man, Hey,

  977. I'm going to do one last thing before we leave.

  978. If you said that prayer today, either for the first

  979. time or a second time, I like the way Pastor

  980. Sammy says it. He says, if you said it for

  981. the first time or last time, depending on who you are.

  982. I'm going to count to three. If you said that

  983. today for the first time, could you raise your hand.

  984. All we want to do is welcome you in the

  985. family and celebrate with you because we know that God

  986. just did a miracle in this place. Would you raise

  987. your hand? One? Two, one, two three? Would you raise

  988. your hand? If that was you today, I see some heny. Hey,

  989. God bless you, my friend, God bless you. What an

  990. incredible decision. I see some other hands over there. Well, hey,

  991. we want to welcome you to the family, and if

  992. you'd like to grow in your faith, we'd love to

  993. come alongside of you, and so before you leave, if

  994. you'd like to go to our website ww dot grow

  995. dot Faith. We'd love to come alongside of you and

  996. help you walk in your journey of faith in what

  997. you said yes for. Additionally, our elders, deacons and prayer

  998. team will be up here at the front. If anyone

  999. needs prayer for anything, please feel free to come forward

1000. after service while our team will be able to pray

1001. for you. Additionally, when I dismiss, if you want to

1002. write that name of those people you've been believing God for,

1003. don't forget to come on up to the front and

1004. write those names as well. God bless you family. We'll

1005. see you next weekend. Give us
