Wonderful.
-
Well, it's so wonderful to see everybody on Saturday night.
-
How many of you love Saturday night service because you
-
get to do a lot of fun stuff on Sunday.
-
I guess, huh, that's great. Probably sleep in for some
-
or maybe some people work, or some people have a
-
great breakfast or watch sports or binge on Netflix.
-
I don't know what you do, but.
-
I would think that I probably would attend Saturday night service.
-
I probably would because I love to.
-
Get up and work out and do some kind of
-
just chill and take my time, So probably would have been.
-
So this is your Sabbath today, this is your Sabbath.
-
Tomorrow will be Sunday Sabbath for other people. So thank
-
you so much for coming. You look wonderful tonight. Jesus's Lord,
-
And no matter what you're going through, no matter how
-
tough life gets, just remember that we're just sojourners, We're
-
just pilgrims, We're just passing through. This Earth is not
-
your home. You know, when people transition and die and
-
go to heaven. I always tell the family that your
-
loved one is part of your future, not just your past.
-
So let's just say somebody lives sixty years, so you
-
had whatever, Let's just say you had sixty years with them.
-
What is sixty years compared to eternity?
-
Conversations, hugs, experiences, intimate moments. It's forever and forever and forever.
-
And this world, the Bible says, is like a breath.
-
It's like the twinkling of an eye. It's like one
-
rain drop compared to eternity. It seems slow on this
-
side of heaven, like for ever. But like when you
-
see our loved one and you get there, they're gonna
-
turn around and you're gonna think, man, I haven't seen
-
you a long time.
-
I just saw you like a second ago. What are
-
you talking about?
-
Because eternity, the Bible says, is like a thousand years.
-
So it just it's good to encourage ourselves sometimes when
-
we go through difficult moments or reflections like that, to
-
remember that, how many of you want to go to heaven?
-
Everyone does, Well, you know what that means?
-
You have to die.
-
See, everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants
-
to die.
-
He said, well, I'm just.
-
Believing that Jesus is gonna come back, and I'll just
-
be raptured.
-
Well, bless the Lord, me too. We'll all go together.
-
Amen, let's pray, And I'm just really excited to be
-
here tonight.
-
Pastor Adam will be here next week.
-
He'll close out this series on Secret Wounds and Silent Cries,
-
and he commissioned me to do two point zero version
-
of this series that I did thirty one years ago.
-
It was the first series.
-
That I did in the Southridge Home in Fontana, and
-
it was called Secret Wounds and Silent Cries. Why hurting
-
people hurt people? And so this is two point zero
-
the Revision Father, Thank you so much for the few
-
moments I have to share the gospel, the good news
-
of hope and encouragement with your people today.
-
Thank you.
-
May this investment of time be impactful. God, may it
-
be sticky and kind of just stay with us. In
-
Jesus's name, a man, we're going to read a scripture today.
-
I'm asking you to stand on your feet. Actually tonight,
-
we're going to attempt to work through this entire chapter today,
-
but we're going to take it in three parts and
-
begin to dissect it today. An amazing story that is
-
going to blow your mind. You're going to think that
-
you're listening to a soap opera, or you would think
-
this is rated R what you're about ready to read.
-
But it's in the Bible for a reason, because sometimes
-
our lives are not rated G five on his people
-
here today, sometimes it's rated R and R is not
-
just sexual. It's violence, it's murder, it's threats, it's injustices.
-
And so here we go in Genesis thirty one and
-
verse number thirty eight, excuse me verse number one About
-
that time, Judah left home and moved to Adullam, where
-
he stayed with a man named Hirah. The Bible says
-
that he saw a Canaan Kite woman. I'm highlighting words
-
that are very important to come back to the daughter
-
of Shua. He married her. When he slept with her,
-
she became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and
-
he named the boy Era. Then she became pregnant again
-
and gave birth to another son, and she named him Onan.
-
And when she gave birth to her third son, she
-
named him Sheila. And the time of Sheila's birth, they
-
were living in Kezba. In the course of time, Judah
-
arranged for his first born son, Era to marry a
-
young woman name say this word with me Kamar okay.
-
But Era was a wicked man in the Lord's sight,
-
so the Lord took his life.
-
He died.
-
Then Judah said to Era's brother Onan, which was the
-
custom of the time, go and marry Tamar, your sister
-
in law, to keep the lineage or the line going,
-
basically as the law requires. The law requires of it
-
of the brother of a man who has died, you
-
must produce the air for your brother. But Onan was
-
not willing to have a child who would not be
-
his own error. So whenever he had intercourse with his
-
brother's wife, he spilled the.
-
Seamen on the ground it's in your bible.
-
This prevented her from having a child who would belong
-
to his brother.
-
But the Lord considered it evil Onwan to deny a child.
-
To his dead brother, So the Lord took Onan's life too.
-
To sons dead. Now, then Judah said to Tamar and
-
his daughter in law, go back to your parents. Go away,
-
Just go away, girl, to your parents' home. Remain a widow.
-
I don't want you to get married until my son
-
Sheila is old enough to marry you.
-
But Judah didn't really.
-
Intend to do this because he was afraid Sheila would
-
also die fear fear, making his decisions out of fear,
-
not faith, fear like.
-
His two brothers. So tell him.
-
Tamar went back to live in her father's home. So
-
we're gonna stop there. Yeah, let's stop there. You may
-
be seated. That's part one. What do you think you
-
into that you down with that?
-
Let's read it a little bit. Let's talk a little
-
bit about what this story is.
-
Several years ago, when we were at our old Jutica property,
-
I had just moved from Southridge to Edawanda, and I
-
wanted to raise the boys, my young sons, with a dog,
-
and I wanted a German shepherd. I just always been
-
partial to a German shepherd. But you know, we didn't
-
have much money, and I didn't know anyone for a breeder,
-
and I didn't necessarily go to a dog pound. I
-
was just I was literally running around the General Dynamics.
-
Property, which was across the street.
-
From our Utica and toward the end of the run,
-
I noticed from a distance a little German shepherd puppy
-
and I said, oh my god, there's a lost German
-
shepherd puppy, and so I made my way to it
-
to not frighten it. But the closer I got it
-
ran into the bush, the bushes that were there. I
-
got on my knees to kind of beckon him, you
-
know how, we talk.
-
Real cute to them.
-
Come on, little puppy, Come on, a little puppy. And
-
he wouldn't come out. He just went further and further
-
into the brush. So I decided to kind of help
-
him by sticking my hand out there to grab him,
-
and that little guy growled at me. Now I'm talking
-
about eight weeks, ten weeks at the most he was
-
like that.
-
First he went further.
-
Into the bush. I wasn't going to hurt him. I
-
actually wanted to take him home to a good home.
-
I wanted to better his life. He was stranded, he
-
didn't know where his next meal would be. Possibly a
-
coyote or predator could kill him. But he saw me
-
as a threat. He did not see me as a helper.
-
When I extended his hand toward him, he growled at me.
-
I thought, what the heck's wrong with this dog? Crazy dog?
-
Doesn't he realize I'm trying to help him? And then
-
I reached it a little further to grab him, and
-
then he bit me, try to bite me. I spent
-
about ten minutes trying to coach this dog. I couldn't
-
get him out, and so I just said, you know what,
-
forget you and I took off. Now I think oftentimes
-
what drives us into the bushes. I think about what
-
makes us growl at people, and I sometimes think out
-
what makes us try to bite people because something someone
-
did to us. When God wants to bring healing to us,
-
he wants to bring hell to us. He wants to
-
bring a good relationship chip to us. He wants to
-
bring a good pastor or a church. We have a
-
tendency to bleed out with our secret wound and our
-
silent trib rather than reaching out and trust God to
-
heal us. So on two points in original it said
-
secret wound, silent Christ.
-
Why hurting people hurt people?
-
Back then I would tell people, if you've ever been
-
hurt by somebody, it's because they've been hurt. It's not
-
an excuse, and adjustice doesn't justify, but it kind of
-
explains it. Two point zero version, secret wound, silent Crist,
-
is this to be a healer?
-
For Jesus. You first must be healed.
-
And Jesus wants you to heal people all around you
-
the brokenness of life. But you cannot heal somebody if
-
you are not healed yourself.
-
So here's the good news.
-
In spite of in spite of what's happened to you,
-
you don't have to be a victim. You don't have
-
to be a casualty, you don't have to be an
-
injured party, you don't have to be a fatality. Often times,
-
through these experiences of secret wounds and silent cries, it
-
makes us untrusting people, and judgmental people, and angry and
-
mad and bitter people. We are detached and distant, We
-
live isolated lives. We are depressed, We have destructive behaviors,
-
selfish behaviors, and sometimes can be abusive and neglectful in
-
our secret wounds and in our silent crimes. But the
-
reality of this message is this, you don't have to
-
be perfect. God just wants you to be well. Do
-
you really believe that God wants you to be well?
-
Because the reality is, even in your brokenness, you won't
-
stop loving God and He won't stop loving you. But
-
in your brokenness, you will not be able to serve
-
God to your maximum capacity. I see a lot of
-
Christians that are going to heaven and they love God,
-
but they're.
-
Not in service to God.
-
And it usually comes back to a secret wound and
-
a silent cry that they have not allowed God to
-
heal them from, and it will affect your service toward God.
-
In two thousand and eight, I had my right kidney removed,
-
and if you were to see me without a T shirt,
-
you'd see a scar right here where the kidney was removed.
-
The scar is always there. It is permanent. I can't
-
hide it. It's very visible. But the reality is I
-
could touch it all day long and there's no more pain.
-
And in life, you're going.
-
To have scars, but there shouldn't be any more pain.
-
If there's scars and there's pain, you need to go
-
before Jesus and ask him to heal you of your
-
secret wound and your silent cry. Today, I want to
-
talk a little bit. Now, let's pick up the story.
-
Let's go back to the story of where we are.
-
Some years later in verse twelve. Some years later, Judah's
-
wife died. Okay, what says you thought it was good?
-
Up? Till now, get ready, get ready.
-
After that time a morning was over, Judah and his
-
friend keyword Hurrah, the Adulamite went up to Timna to
-
supervise the shearing of his sheep. Someone told Tamar, look,
-
your father in law is going up to Timna to
-
shear the sheep. Remember he sent her away. He made
-
her a promise. Okay, this is okay, let me not
-
say it. I'm not going to give it away. Tamar
-
was aware that Sheila had grown up, but no arrangement
-
had been made for her to.
-
Come marry him.
-
And you need to see that Tamar is the victim
-
in the story.
-
She's the one.
-
Who has secret wounds in silent cries. And I'll break
-
it down in a few moments. So she changed, what's that? Yes,
-
I'll add this word because you're gonna hear. In her desperation,
-
she chained out of her widow's clothing and covered herself
-
in a veiled to disguise herself. Then she sat beside
-
the road at the entrance of the village of in Them,
-
which is by the road of Timna.
-
Judah noticed her and.
-
Thought she was a prostitute, and she could she covered
-
her face she dressing like a prostitute. She's showing some
-
skin right now, and she knows that's her father in law.
-
You still liking this story, it's in your holy b
-
I B l E. So he stopped and made a
-
proposition to her, let.
-
Me have sex with you intercourse.
-
Let's get it home. Oh not at least for a
-
couple minutes, he said, not realizing.
-
This is stupid. This is stupid.
-
Watch us, not realizing that she was his own daughter
-
in law. How stupid you can't even recognize your own
-
daughter in law? Hm?
-
How much more? How much will you pay to have
-
sex with me?
-
Tamart ass negotiation going on right now?
-
About three months later? Excise meute, we're gonna stop there?
-
Is that it? Yeah, we're gonna stop there. That's part two,
-
Part two. We'll come back to it. Don't worry, we'll come.
-
Back to it. You see somebody, let's you read on.
-
We're gonna come back to it. Right now.
-
Today we're gonna talk a little bit about the subject
-
of secret wounds and silent cries that come from daddy issues,
-
the passivity of a dad, the abandonment of a dad,
-
the lack of attention of a dad. We're gonna talk
-
about mommy issues. We're gonna talk about family drama, whether
-
it's your aunt, your uncle.
-
Your cousins, your siblings.
-
We're gonna talk about broken homes, whether it's foster care,
-
Section eight, single parents, divorced holmes, orphanages, projects you grew
-
up in, or.
-
A widow's home.
-
Today, we're gonna talk about dysfunctional house, an arguing house,
-
a house full of strife, anger division, a house that's
-
full of rape, incess, substance abuse, physical and emotional abuse.
-
How many to remember the old.
-
Song by the Temptations, Papa was a rolling stone. It
-
was the third of September, a day. Always remember, I
-
know you don't know that.
-
Why what the heck? What's going on? Really?
-
Why is this messy, complicated Ibama Field intense perverted.
-
Story in my Bible?
-
Because God wants us to relate, because he relates. If
-
you want to act like your life is together, and
-
you have your act together, and you come from a
-
perfect family, then God bless you. But if for a
-
moment you want to relate, that's what the Bible is
-
trying to tell you, trying to say, I identify with you.
-
That's what Jesus is saying, this is my family lineage,
-
and I identify with you.
-
To tell you that you're not the only one with
-
a secret wound in a silent crime.
-
To tell you that I God can redeem your story,
-
no matter how.
-
Nasty and perverted it is.
-
And God's saying, the devil wants to erase you from
-
my family, but I will not erase you, skip over or.
-
Edit you out.
-
The Bible says, all things work together for the good
-
to those that are called. The Bible says, what the
-
devil meant for evil, God will turn it to good.
-
And the Bible says, this will turn out for a testimony.
-
I'm gonna give you this amazing scripture right now in
-
Matthew in Matthew one and in verse number one and
-
in verse number three Matthew one, the account.
-
Of the genealogy of who.
-
Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
-
Get ready, get ready, get ready. Watch this verse three.
-
Judah fathered Perez and Zarah by Tamar Perez father Hesron has.
-
Ron fathered Aran.
-
Who is the genealogy we're talking about, Jesus.
-
These are his grandparents.
-
Tamar was his great great grandmama. You talk about his grandmama.
-
You talking about Jesus right now. He didn't come from
-
a perfect tree line.
-
He didn't come from royal blood. He didn't come.
-
From holy or Thou people, and yet he was holy.
-
It doesn't matter where you come from. All that matters
-
is what you allow God to do through you. Oka,
-
messed up, Jack, deb torp shame and embarrassment you're dealing with.
-
Imagine people talking about Jesus and his grandmama, Tamar in
-
the lineage of Judah. God can redeem your story. There's hope.
-
There's hope. There's hope, there's That's why the stories in
-
the Bible to tell you may have started one way,
-
but it ain't gonna end that way.
-
Baby, it ain't gonna end that way. I know you don't.
-
You don't want to show no emotion because you're being ministered.
-
To right now.
-
It's okay, here's a few points that I want to
-
share as we pick up the story. Now here, we're
-
gonna land it. Now here's a you. We'll have read
-
a whole chapter right now. Twenty four now, Wat says.
-
About three months later, Judah was told Tamar, your daughter in.
-
Law, has acted like a prostitute. Now because of this
-
she pregnant. Who baby that? Whose baby is that?
-
And now because of this she's pregnant.
-
He says, bring her out and let her be burned.
-
Judah demanded.
-
As they were talking her, talking to taking.
-
Her out to kill her.
-
She said this message her father in law.
-
I love this.
-
The man who owns these things made me pregnant. Look closely,
-
whose seal and cord and walking stick are these? See?
-
To pay her for a prostitution. He was going to
-
give her a goat, but he didn't have the goat.
-
So she said instead, until you give me the goat,
-
give me your seal, your cord, and your walking stick
-
that has your name on it and your label, so
-
she kept it. Now he finds out that his daughter
-
in law is pregnant, he's quick to judge her.
-
Let her be killed in stone right now.
-
And she goes like this, does this look like something
-
you recognize?
-
Look closely.
-
Judah recognized them immediately said this, she's more righteous than
-
I because I didn't arrange for her to be married.
-
I drove her to this in her desperation. She had
-
to do this. I failed her as a daddy to
-
marry my son Sheila and Judah, and Judah never slept
-
with Tamar again. When this time came for Tamar to
-
give birth, it was discovered that she carried twins. While
-
she was in labor, one of the babies reached out
-
his hand. The midwife grabbed it, tied a scarlet string
-
around the child's wrist, announcing this one came out first.
-
But then he pulled back his hand out and came,
-
and his brother came.
-
His brother.
-
Wait what, the midwife explained, how did he? How did
-
you break out first? So his name was Perez, and
-
you just read Perez. So here's the first she got
-
in the Bible right there.
-
So that's for the three.
-
Mexican came out of this Jewish relationship. Let's talk about
-
Let me give you four quick points with the twelve
-
minutes I have left. Number one is his bad choices
-
produced bad circumstances, which equals loss of conviction. The first
-
thing he recognize that says he left his family in
-
the beginning.
-
The second thing is he married wrong.
-
He married a Canaanite woman, someone outside of covenant.
-
He raised his sons they were wicked.
-
It's where he raised his family, he slept with a
-
prostitute and he had a wrong friend that encouraged him
-
to go with this prostitute. So we see nothing but
-
bad choices that led to bad circumstances in his life
-
which made him lose which He was a Hebrew who
-
loved God. His dad's name was Jacob, but he's not
-
living out his I'm a man of faith.
-
I know who God is.
-
I used to go to church, but my lifestyle doesn't
-
represent that.
-
Now, how did that happen?
-
Because I've made some bad choices in my life, producing
-
bad circumstances, and I've lost my convictions. Bad circumstances should
-
not be an excuse to compromise your convictions. You can't
-
compromise your beliefs. You can't compromise your integrity, your value,
-
your ethics, nor your morals. You cannot afford to do
-
that in a world full of temptation or no matter
-
how hard your life is. Compromise allows you to eliminate
-
the God factor. You won't be in his will, you
-
won't have His ways in your life, and you won't
-
have the Word of God in your life. You won't
-
operate in his favor and in his blessings when you
-
live a compromise life. So quote Michael W. Smith, it
-
reads like this. Behind every act of compromise is a
-
Christian who is living for this world rather than the next.
-
When I was seventeen years old, I stole all these
-
avocados from the neighborhood. I packed up this nineteen seventy
-
Ford al rancho all in.
-
The back of avocados.
-
I drove to Pico Rivera to a Mexican restaurant.
-
I had put a deal together.
-
That the owner would buy all the co avocados from
-
me so he could make an abundance of wacamole, and
-
then I'd sold them. And then I went and bought
-
some marijuana, and I stood on the street corner and
-
I became a small time.
-
Little drug dealer. Little did I know that that night
-
I would.
-
Be busted, hauled off to the police station, strip searched,
-
and then my parents would have to come and pick
-
me up.
-
How did that happen?
-
Bad choices which led to some bad circumstances.
-
Because now I'm grounded and there's a.
-
Lot of difficulty that's going to come into my life.
-
Though I was raised in a godly home, though I
-
knew better, but I had lost all my convictions because
-
of the people that I hung around and because of
-
the choices that I made. The second thing is selfishness
-
destroys what we were meant to create, what we were
-
meant to build, produce, keep, reproduce, fix and solve, help,
-
change and bless Judah is not doing that right now.
-
He's living a very, very very selfish life and he's
-
not living out as God given purpose.
-
He's destroying things.
-
Oh Nan was supposed to perform his duty and fulfill
-
his duty, but he didn't out of selfishness that took place.
-
How did Judah not know that that was not his
-
daughter in law? Because the lust got the best of him.
-
It's no coincidence. Is this the first.
-
Time that he's gonna be with a prostitute? Probably not,
-
just create a lifestyle for him. So it's all nothing
-
but selfishness that's destroying something. I'm supposed to be a blessing.
-
I'm supposed to raise a godly family. I'm supposed to
-
change in generation. I'm supposed to impact, but I'm not
-
doing it because I'm living a selfish life.
-
That's what staking plays in Judah's life.
-
The broken lies to Tamar leads her to a place
-
of desperation. Daddy, you promised me that you would give
-
me an air, and you broke your promise.
-
And now that's led me.
-
To take control of my life and live a desperate life.
-
That's how desperate she will be, all because of a
-
broken promise, a broken vow to her, and that will
-
lead her to a place of desperation. That's in her
-
life because selfishness takes.
-
From somebody rather than gives.
-
Selfishness puts my needs in front.
-
Of your needs.
-
Selfishness is a lack of unconditional love.
-
I'm going to give you a quote by Ed Cole,
-
and I love this quote about selfishness.
-
The counterfeit to the trinity is me, myself and I.
-
Selfishness.
-
All of that is self centeredness, self talk, self indulgence,
-
self promotion, self righteousness, self rationale. All that leads to selfishness.
-
Let me give you a thought here today. The thought
-
is this, what do you think the number one just
-
royer of marriages? Do you think the number one destroyer
-
of marriages? Infidelity, lack of communication, financial pressure, abuse, crisises,
-
blended families, unrealistic expectations, in activity.
-
Pride, and pettiness.
-
Do you believe that those are the number one reason
-
that destroys a marriage. No, those are symptoms. Those are symptoms.
-
We are dealing with symptoms. You got to go to
-
the cause of what's destroying a marriage. And here's the
-
one word, the one word that destroys marriage. Selfishness. You
-
forgot that you got into that marriage on what I
-
could do for you.
-
Now a turn what you're going to do for me?
-
And out of selfishness now comes infidelity. And because the
-
selfishness now comes abuse or financial p problems or everything else.
-
The number one thing that you and I have to
-
deal with in our lives is dealing with the selfishness.
-
And Judah is showing nothing but selfishness in this story.
-
The third thing is silence covers the wrong instead of
-
confronting it, he sends her away just I just want
-
to send the problem away. I just want to ignore it.
-
I just want to avoid it. So I'm gonna sid
-
we don't talk about it, don't bring that up to
-
me anymore, don't put me on the stop spot anymore.
-
And the reality is this is the silence covering the.
-
Wrong instead of confronting it when it's wrong. It's wrong,
-
and we've got to confront it now. We'll work on
-
it together, we'll deal with it together. But silence never
-
solves anything. Ignoring and avoiding never solves anything. And he
-
just wants to silence the issue in his life. See,
-
because here's the reality. All of us have ghosts in
-
our past, the ghost of guilt, shame, sorrness, condemnation, embarrassment, remorse, humiliation, regret,
-
past and grief. But ghosts have to be confronted with prayer, forgiveness,
-
changing relationships, going in for counseling. That you don't ignore
-
these ghosts, you confront these ghosts. Here's the second thing
-
I know.
-
All of us have closets.
-
I like this one. Things Nobody in your family can answer.
-
Things in your family. We do not discuss things in
-
my family. Nobody knows about things in my family. We
-
do not discs us privately. They're hidden secrets. Things we
-
don't talk about, things we don't ask about, things we
-
don't know about. These are behind it. We don't open
-
that door. I don't know whose son that is. I
-
don't know whose mama that is. I don't know how
-
that family member of God. We don't talk about it.
-
We don't talk about the rape, we don't talk about
-
the incests, we don't talk about all the abortion, we
-
don't talk about things like that.
-
But the reality is.
-
We all have these, and we all have these. God
-
wants us to confess them to him. That's when the
-
healing is going to begin. This guy is jacked up
-
and tore up. It's not until he says you are
-
more righteous than me that his healing starts. He said,
-
I'm coming out of the closet. Now, I'm not blaming
-
nobody for what took place. I'm taking responsible. Girl, you
-
would have ever got down to be a prostitute. If
-
I would have kept my promise, you would have never
-
done what you did in desperation. And now I take
-
full responsibility for what I did. And it starts bringing
-
healing to a generation. It brings healing to the family,
-
It brings healing to children. So silence can silence can
-
cover up the wrong. It must be confronted. And we
-
are really really good at masking and covering up with excuses, rationale, ignoring, justifying, pretending,
-
an avoidance. But it will find you out. Your staff
-
is going to come out one day. Your court is
-
going to come out one day. It's going to tell
-
on you the reality. And we can mask and cover
-
up things of secrets with alcohol, and we do it
-
with drugs, men and women. We do it with sexual promiscuite.
-
I didn't have a daddy, so I lay with all
-
the men in my life that come my way. I
-
don't think I deserve a good man. We deal with
-
it with yelling, we deal it with threatening, we deal
-
it with being a driven person or a perfectionist, all
-
because we're trying to cover up things. It's amazing how
-
vocal we can be about other people's sins rather.
-
Than our owns. He was about ready to stone her.
-
It's amazing how we could get on tangents over someone else.
-
You know, those young people are doing.
-
This, and yet we're gossipers. There's people live in these deviant,
-
perverted lives, but we're not tithing. Watch out what you
-
are so passionate about. So he going to destroy her,
-
But dude with a prostitute and it's your daughter in law.
-
And so amazing how vocal we can be against sin.
-
And the Bible says he that without sin needs to
-
watch himself. To cast the first stone. So Judah's repentance
-
breaks the cycle of silence.
-
It absolutely does. And last of all, it's amazing how
-
vocal we are at blaming others. Blaming others.
-
He blamed, if you look the scripture, very very slowly,
-
he blamed Tamar for his son's deaths. No, the Bible
-
says they were wicked, they're wicked boys. But he secretly blamed.
-
Her for those deaths.
-
And that's why he didn't want to give the third
-
son up, because he thought that she'd kill him one
-
way or another. But the reality is, it's amazing how
-
we can blame others for our hurts. Let's blame COVID,
-
Let's blame Biden, let's blame Trump. Let's blame the man,
-
whoever the man is. It's a man's fault. Let me
-
blame my ex It's not my fault. If only, if
-
only I had this, I did it because.
-
I blame it on my skin color. I blame it
-
on my race.
-
But Willie George says this in this amazing quote. And
-
then we'll go last point and we're done. God can
-
do little for those who think their problems are everybody
-
else's fault.
-
Here's my last point. The last point.
-
Our fear creates distance and separation rather than safety for
-
those around us that we love, protection, security, comfort and peace.
-
The fears that we're living in is actually creating distance
-
and separation.
-
Jared Jared losing his last son. Jueared of losing his reputation.
-
If you go back and read the story, he feared
-
losing his reputation, but he did not fear losing his bloodline,
-
or his family lineage, or his family blessing or heritage.
-
Where this woman cared more about the family name than
-
this man did. He didn't fear not having an air,
-
so he operated in a level of fear in his life.
-
Let me show you some common fears, but they're often
-
fears that affect men. Men have a fear of failure.
-
Men have a fear of commitment. Men have a fear
-
of incompetency. Men have a fear of not having enough
-
enough money or having a good career. Men fear again
-
not having a career, fear not working, fear they fear.
-
They fear being weak, not being able to handle the challenge.
-
Men fear rejection. Men fear being judged.
-
Men fear not measuring up These are real fears that
-
all of us as men face. But there's fear, and
-
our fears create separation. And we cannot allow our fears
-
to create separation from our friends, or our mates, or
-
or our children. We've got to confront and we've got
-
to deal with those fears. And the way we deal
-
with those fears is with faith. I'm going to have
-
to trust God. I overcome my fears with faithfulness. I've
-
got to start doing faithful things. Now, we overcome fears
-
with finishing well. I will not only do these things
-
faith and good actions, but I will consistently do them
-
day in and day out, and then I will lead
-
with fruitfulness.
-
I will do it forever.
-
This will begin to bring healing to our families when
-
we begin to move from fear to faith, to faithfulness,
-
to finishing well.
-
To becoming fruitful in our lives. I end with this.
-
I went through the TSA line not too long ago,
-
and the guy behind me, as I was getting my
-
luggage kept tripping the TSA alarm. So you know, they
-
pull you out of the line and now they're gonna
-
wave the want and it goes off, and you know,
-
please take your shoes off, take off about blah blah blah,
-
patting him down, and go through again, and go through again, and.
-
It just keeps it keeps tripping, and just keeps tripping.
-
And then he remembered, he said, you know what, I'm
-
over hearing the story because it keeps tripping, it keeps
-
going on.
-
He says, you know.
-
What, several years ago, I had surgery and I have
-
screws in his shoulder. And that's where it's coming from.
-
And the reality is this.
-
Is that God sees every aspect of our lives. What
-
man doesn't see, God sees, and what you've forgotten about,
-
he doesn't forget about. The story is an amazing story
-
of hope for all of us today, amazing story of hope.
-
The reality was is that God used Tamar to birth
-
the lineage of Jesus. He used Judah to get his
-
life right. And that tells tell us if you're Judah
-
the person that caused the pain, or your Tamar, the
-
victim of the pain, God can heal you both. And
-
this is a pretty pretty intense story so that all
-
of us could say, I think I'm somewhere in that story.
-
Mine might be in there somewhere. Father, I just thank
-
you today God that no matter where their secret wounds
-
in silent cries. I thank you today in this story,
-
thank you Holy Spirit that when Judah confessed, he brought.
-
Healing to Tamar got.
-
When Judah confessed, all she wanted was the approval of
-
her daddy.
-
And there are so.
-
Many men that are still seeking the approval of their dad,
-
the acceptance of my dad.
-
My dad may be long in God, my dad may
-
be alive.
-
But today I just want you as men, to understand
-
and to hear God. He validates you, He accepts you,
-
and he approves you. You don't have to live out
-
your anger anymore or your secret wound and silent cry.
-
She finally got the approval. And I pray today God
-
ministers to the brokenness of your life today and whatever.
-
You're holding on to, whatever it might.
-
Be as the victim or as the person that did it,
-
I pray that you bring forgiveness to those that have
-
hurt you. Maybe there's some reconciliation that someone needs to do.
-
Pick up the phone. I'm not sure how it's going
-
to go down. I just heard of a four star
-
general his son, I mean the four star Our general
-
worked worked, worked, worked, and just neglected his son, and
-
the son became a Christian. He had so much unforgiveness
-
toward his daddy. His daddy was a success in this
-
world's world's eyes. He was a four star general. But
-
he never hugged him, He never loved him. He never
-
took him the ballgame. He never had time. He picked
-
up the phone. He said, Dad, I want to come
-
and see you, and he just said, Dad, I love you,
-
and I just want you to forgive me.
-
For me holding unforgiveness towards you.
-
That father never acknowledged his sin, He never said he
-
was wrong. I don't know how these stories will end.
-
I just know you.
-
Need to hear God and do what God tells you
-
to do to bring healing enclosure to you. I pray Lord,
-
there's redemption in every one story today that can produce
-
a Jesus manifestation, a Jesus experience, a Jesus blessing in
-
all our lives in Jesus name.
-
Amen, can we give the Lord a clap offering?
-
That one was a little bit thick One't that some
-
of you need to go back and read that chapter again,
-
because I didn't read completely everything and just kind of
-
let it minister to you by the Holy Spirit. We're
-
getting ready to leave this church. Thank you so much
-
for coming to churchmen. Nor in the Bible does it
-
say if you go to church, you'll go to heaven.
-
Show me in the Bible where it says that go
-
to church you'll go to heaven. Show me the Bible
-
where what chapter are you gonna quote?
-
What book are gonnaquote? Don't say that.
-
Tell me where in the Bible does it say if
-
you're just spiritual, you do crystals, you do rosaries, you
-
do beads.
-
You'll go to heaven. Show me. Show me spirituality in
-
the Bible.
-
Show me where it says you're you do good works,
-
you're a humanitarian, you give your money away, you're kind
-
to people, You'll go to heaven.
-
So it's not in the Bible.
-
You know why it's not in the Bible because those
-
are works, and you can't work your way out of
-
hell and you can't work your way into heaven. That
-
was the purpose of Jesus coming to this earth to die.
-
It's the only work that God acknowledges. But somewhere along
-
the line, we just think that if I'm basically a
-
good person and I try to the best of my ability,
-
and I'm a veteran, and I give money away and.
-
Our stands ups for the causes of this world.
-
And I may not believe in Jesus, but I may
-
have this blender of eclectic beliefs of Mohammed and Allah
-
and Hadi Krishna and al Ron Hubbard and Jesus and Hinduism.
-
Then I'll make it in.
-
No heaven is paid by one person, the blood of
-
Jesus Christ. Do you know, whether you've studied or not.
-
Buddha never said he was God. He never said that
-
he was God. Do you know that Mohammed never said
-
he was God. Hadi Krishna never said he was God.
-
Al Ron Hubbard never said he was God. There's only
-
one person that said he's God. His name is Jesus.
-
He said, I'm the Way, the Truth. And this guy
-
is either the biggest phony on the earth or he
-
is who he said he is. Because he's the only
-
person with the empty grave.
-
That's more than enough.
-
Reason for me to accept him, believe in him, and
-
to follow him. If you're ready to make that decision,
-
I'll invite you. Or you want to rededicate your life
-
to the Lord. You once served the Lord and followed him,
-
but you've drifted away.
-
Then come back.
-
When I count to three, you raise your hand and
-
we'll pray for you. Be the best decision you've made.
-
One two, one, two three, wherever you are all across
-
this auditorium.
-
God love you, God bless you. Let's say this simple prayer.
-
Say, Dear Lord Jesus, you know who I am in
-
front of all these people. I acknowledge my need for you,
-
and I recognize that you alone can save me from
-
my sins, and you alone are the God of heaven.
-
And so today I ask you to be my Lord
-
and savior. Now give me the courage to follow you. Amen,
-
God bless you. Lissa, would you come and pray us
-
out and give us some final information?
-
Absolutely so.
-
Family, I saw a bunch of hands raised, and if
-
that was you tonight.
-
We want to give you some additional literature.
-
That way you can just be prepared for the decision
-
that you made tonight. So if you just follow the
-
screen and go to ww dot grow Dot Faith and
-
it will get you connected and plugged in. So just
-
a reminder, family, we will be in the courtyard tonight
-
and whether you want to serve and Patriot youth, or
-
maybe you want to serve in Patriot kids, or just
-
find out a little bit more information. You're gonna have
-
that opportunity. And also our missions team is gonna be out.
-
There as well, so we're gonna all leave together right now.
-
Heavenly Father, we just thank you so much for everything
-
you've done. Father, Lord b thank you for the message
-
that went forth and landed in our hearts and planted seeds. Lord,
-
I pray that this would sustain us, Father God, and
-
that it would provoke us to.
-
Dig a little bit deeper. Father and Lord, we just
-
thank you.
-
I pray that you would cover and give them traveling
-
grace as they head home tonight.
-
In Jesus name, we pray
-
Amen, Amen, Family additional prayer, is it gonna be in
-
the front
