From the Depths of Shame: Rising with a New Song || Pastor Adam Mesa

But joining us this weekend is all of our campuses,

So could you welcome Pomona and Alameda in the house

today as well as all those watching online.

This is one of those all.

Campus weekends because it's a special weekend in the fact

that we're concluding our series called Secret Wounds in Silent Cries,

and I pray you've been blessed by this series and

God has been speaking to you, and I've heard some

incredible things from individuals from all of our pastors that

have been speaking across all of our campuses on this

series and topic. And I get a concluded which I

will in a few moments. But also this is a

weekend that if you've been journeying with us as a

church over the past kind of sixty days, we shared

as a church that we were going to be going

beyond together as a church, and we believe that God

was calling us to a three year mission from the

Lord to have a twenty million dollar mission of doing

things across all of our campuses. And so we spoke

for six weeks about the topic, and we gave opportunity

for everyone that calls Patria their home church to make

a financial commitment over the next three years on top

of their regular giving, and on top of that, a

few weeks ago we had a miracle offering and we

shared on April fifth and six, we would share with

all of our campuses how much was committed and how

much has been given us for thus far in the

Miracle offering. So I'm excited because i don't know about

you guys, but I've been curious. I mean, I kind

of know already, but I had been curious about what

had been going on and how everyone had partaken in

this incredible opportunity to see God go beyond in Patria.

And so the first thing.

I'm going to do is I'm going to share with

you how much we have in total commitments.

Second thing I'm going to share with you is how.

Many households have partnered with this program together. And then lastly,

I'm going to share with you how much money has

come from our Miracle offering. And so the first thing

I'm excited to share with you is I'm going to

have it behind me. So far committed together over the

next three years as a church we have had this

is fancy. I didn't even know they were going to

do this. So they're really fancy. Thirteen million and sixty

one thousand, four hundred and seventy seven dollars, Absolutely incredible.

Thank you so much for all of those who.

Participated and committed over the next sixty days.

You know, it's a twenty million dollar vision, but that's

over the next three years, and so.

People come and people make more commitments, and so this

is an absolute incredible beginning to what God is doing

in our church.

And so we believe that.

Over the next sixty days that another two million dollars

will come in commitments.

We already see it.

I want to share with you how many households that equals,

and so that includes mom, dad, children, all those in

one household. So so far in our church we have

had one thousand, five hundred and seventy households committed.

To go beyond it. Absolutely incredible.

Thank you so much to all of those who've committed,

whether you've done it by yourself or your whole family

has talked about this, to sacrifice together and then lastly

in our miracle offering. Thus far total given already, just

in the past few weeks, we've had six hundred thousand,

two hundred twenty four thousand, nine hundred and ninety four

dollars given to the Miracle Offering that is already greenlit

projects that will share with you in the next couple weeks.

I'll share with you one in just a moment. And

so I just cannot tell you how absolutely privileged we

are as a church and a leadership team that so

many individuals, so many families have committed to see God

go beyond in our church. And so I thank you

for continuing to store and continually to invest in your church,

but also into the next generation, because what we're doing

is for the next generation. So if you haven't been

able to partner with us yet, or maybe you've been

praying about it, or you said maybe i'll wait until

April fifth and six, well here's the thing. Across all

of our campuses, when you leave today in our foyers,

you'll see two things. You'll see an envelope that you

can still give towards the Miracle Offering. We're believing God

over the next forty five days.

That a total million dollars will come.

So we're at six hundred and twenty four thousand dollars,

and so we're almost there. As a church of about

fourteen thousand people. That's something that we can do together.

And then on top of that, if you say, you

know what, I want to make a commitment over the

next three years, or maybe over the next two years,

maybe the next one year.

I haven't done that yet.

Well, then when you leave services in our foyers across

our campuses, you'll find some markers and you'll find a

commitment card at.

Those tape where you leave.

You can actually fill them out and leave them in

the receptacles right there, and we'll continue to see God

do some incredible things. Already tell you about a testimony

of what God did.

Believe it or not, it's incredible that.

The scriptures are actually real. When Jesus says you have

not because you ask not, it's quite incredible that you

literally do not have because you do not ask according

to God's will. We just experience that our newest campus, Alameda,

there's zero parking in the city of Alameda.

There's none.

And when we first became our merger together, there were

already a church that existed for three years. In their

current campus, they've been there for a little over a year.

There is an elementary school right next to it. First

thing I did when we began to come together as Encore.

And Patriot, I asked Pastor Fuego.

Pastor Fuego, if we got this entire blacktop where kids

play basketball, where people can park, we would be able

to reach so many people in this city because it

would make us the church with the largest parking lot

in this overnight. And he said, I've been trying for

a year to get access to that blacktop. And we said, well,

let's commit to the favor of God and let's pray

that God will open a door that we can have

that blacktop. One week after our miracle Sunday a month ago,

we got word from the city that said, from here

on out, every Sunday, we're gonna open up the gates

and we're gonna allow your church to park here.

And you're at your campus.

And so I got picture and video of our new

parking space at Alameda that's sixty five cars overnight. There

was once no spots for sixty five cars overnight. Sixty

five cars are able to be parked there at our

Alameda campus. One week after our miracle offering. One week

after our miracle offering, God opened up a door. Well,

here's why, because man, I sure love free I love costco,

I love free samples. But unfortunately, the city of Alameda

was not doing it for free. They charged us to

park there. But we were ready because we had a

miracle offering. We're ready because people made commitments and so

it wasn't something that we had to look at a

particular budget and say, hey, is it in our Alameda

campus budget.

We said, well, we just had a miracle offering.

We can see God do this, and God has already

answered one prayer of our project. I just want to

encourage you continue to see God in your own life,

continue to ask God in your own life, and continue

to see that God can and will answer prayers. Man,

God is good, and we're so thankful, and we're so

thankful for you partnering to go beyond because already you've

made parking available to one of our campuses, and we

are so blessed. We're so blessed to all of our

campuses partnering and believing in those in other cities and

other regions in Rancho.

We'll share with you in the future.

Just in the coming weeks, some of the other absolutely

incredible things that are happening here in Rancho as well, well,

I'm ready to dig into the Word of God. As

we conclude this series, I'm gonna have a moment of

worship at the end of service, and so I just

want to encourage you to just prepare your heart across

our campuses because we are gonna make an invitation to

seek God's presence today.

Because over the past couple of weeks.

As we talked about secret wounds in Silent Cries.

The first week we've talked about was church hurt.

The second week we talked about parental hurt, the hurts

that we experience, whether it be our.

Mother or our father.

First week we talked about I don't know if you

stay in church long enough. People that are hurt, they

hurt other people, hurt people, hurt people, and church hurt

is a real thing, and churchhard is something that we

all experience.

And so therefore we're.

Gonna conclude our series by talking about one last thing.

It's the hurt of shame. It's the self inflicted hurt.

It's the hurt that I cause on myself, whether it

be through my own sin, whether it be through my

own trauma, whether it be through my own addictions, whether it.

Be through my own pain.

And if you like taking notes, the sermon title that

I'm gonna share with you today is gonna be called

from Shame to a Song, because what God will do

is if you allow him to carry your shame, He'll

give you a song. So in the service across all

of our campus, I'm gon encourage you that whether you're

carrying some type of shame, whether you're carrying some type

of pain, carrying some type of hurt, I want to

courage you. At the end, we're gonna believe God that

he's gonna give you a song of worship today, that

God is gonna bring a breakthrough in your life and

in your heart, and he's gonna heal you in areas

that you didn't even know that you needed healing for

because we serve a God that can do it. C. J.

Jung says it like this. He says, shame is a

soul eating emotion.

It's what shame will do.

Shame doesn't just affect your present life and your daily habits.

Shame will actually eat the very person that you are.

And we're gonna see that today through the life of

King David and how King David, known as a man

after God's own heart. He himself experienced some of the

greatest sin and the greatest shame.

That any human being could ever face.

But there is hope in God, and David experienced that

very hope in God. If you're taking notes, I'm jumping

right into it today because I got quite a bit

of Bible that we're gonna walk through when it comes

to the life of David. But I believe that if

you see what David's fall into sin did, to what

it happened when he gave God his shame, you will

see that God did a miracle in David's life, and

he can do a miracle in your life. So here's

the first thing that shame will actually do. Here's the

first point. What happens is is it's a slope shame us. Well,

Shame says hide and grace says come. But the second

thing is with the first point, there is a slope

of silent sin. You ever been to the mountains before

and maybe there was some snow and you thought that

you had a footing and then you slipped your foot

and you just started sliding down further than you anticipated.

That's what sin tends to do. That's what shame tends

to do is it's a slippery slope. And we think

one sin won't affect other areas of our life.

But when we.

Engage in one sin, it falls into another sin, which

falls into another sin, which falls into more trauma, and

then we take more trauma and it falls into more trauma.

Next thing, you know, we look at ourselves and we say,

how did I.

Become this person?

We see that happens with King David himself. He's the

second king of Israel. He comes after Saul, and this

is a king that God called to himself.

And so I think, do we have a screen?

Oh, let's go Second Samuel, chapter eleven, verse.

Two to nine. You'll see a moment.

If you grew up in church long enough, you've heard

the story of Bethsheba. But I want you to see

what happens when David finds a beautiful woman bathing from

his palace. He's supposed to at this point be at war,

but he's become so successful in life.

He's become such an.

Incredible king that instead of being in battle, he's just

hanging at the palace, drinking wine, eating grapes. Most he's bored,

and how many of you guys know, boredom can be

the devil's playground. You got nothing going on, Satan will

fill you with something to go on.

That's what happens with David.

When kings are normally at war at this time, because

his country's at war. He's in the palace because he's

been there and he's done that. Next thing, you know,

he sees a beautiful woman. Here's what it says. One evening,

David got up from his bed and walked around the

roof of his palace.

From the roof, he saw a woman bathing.

The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to

find out about here. Oh that girl, she looks good.

I have to know her name. And the man said,

she's Bethsheba. She's the daughter of Iliam and the wife

of Uriah the hits Height, which is one of his

generals in his army. And then David sent messengers to

get her. She came to him and he slept with her.

Now she was purifying herself from the monthly uncle uncleanliness.

Then she went back home. I want you to pause

the screen right there. Go back to that real quick.

You see, here's what's incredible. A lot of times. What

will happen is when you hear this story, there will

somewhat be a depiction that Bathsheba was somewhere she shouldn't

have been, almost like well, you know, if she would

have been more modest, she wouldn't have allowed David to

fall into temptation. And so it takes two to tango.

That's not what's happening.

In this story.

You see in this story, the Bible makes it clear

that she was purifying herself. In other words, she had

just finished her mind monthly cycle.

And in the Jewish.

Custom, every woman, even still to this day, every woman

after their monthly cycle, they have to go to something

that's called a mikvah, which we would call it a

baptism tank. And every single month she has to dip

herself next to the church. The mikphuhs small communities. They

were connected to the temple. The mikpahs were connected.

To the church.

And so what she's doing is she's bathing herself just

so that she can worship God again. And David takes

advantage of a very moment that she's just isolated doing

her duty as.

A woman of God.

She has to dip herself in a water bath of

a natural running spring to purify and to represent that

she's being cleansed. And what happens is, instead of David

recognizing that she's next to the church doing her religious

duty and turning his eyes, he starts gazing. It's like

someone getting ready to be baptized on a Sunday and

someone pops in and they're like, hello, that's a very

special moment.

That's a moment of cleansing from God.

And David takes advantage of and invites her to his palace.

She has no say, and it says he slept with

her and.

Then she went back home. Then look at this. What

happens is is, you know, because.

Their battle battles were lasting long, So whatever happens forty

five days, fifty days, sixty days. She starts throwing up,

she starts she's ay, got morning sickness. She's like, oh, oh,

something happened. And it says the woman conceived and she

said word to David, saying I'm pregnant, and David in

that moment he said, oh, I made a big mistake.

I need to fix this. No, this is where the

slippery slope of sin happens.

What he says is he says, well, here's what I'm

gonna do. The next verse is he says this, David

sent word to Joab, send me.

Your ride the hit tight, and Joab sent him to David.

What happens is he said, let's allow her husband to

have a leave of absence so that he can come home.

I'll just say I need to talk to him about

some things.

I'll let him.

Sleep at his house. He'll sleep with his wife. She'll

be pregnant, and it'll be like, hey, here, Riyah, you

got your wife pregnant when you were on leave. That's

not what happens. Uriah, being a good man of character,

he says, if my men are out in the battlefield,

then I won't go visit my wife. So he sleeps

on David's palace floor with David's servants, never goes home,

never even tells his wife he's in town. And it

says when you're ey came to him. David asked him

how Joab was, how the soldiers were, and how the

war was going. He wanted an update on the war.

The next slide then David said, Oryah, go down to

your house and wash your feet, so Uriah left the

palace and a gift from the king was set after him.

But Euriah slept at the entrance to the palace with

all the master servants and did not go down to

his house.

It's another and so what happens is what will happen.

Is shame thrives in secrecy and silence, because what happens

is David is working behind the scenes to make his

sin work for him.

And then we know what ultimately happens.

Because Uriah refuses and he doesn't want to own up

to his own mistakes.

What he tells is his other messengers.

He says, send word to the cavalry and tell them

that I want Euryah to lead from the front lines.

Put him on the front lines of the war so

that he could die and I don't have to face Euriyah.

And then when he's dead, I'll just marry the widow Bethsheba,

and I'll be a good man.

That's what he does.

And so he has this slippery slope because he don't

want to own up to his sin. But what happens

is there's a prophet of God named Nathan, because what

David's trying to do at this time, he's trying to

control his own narrative. And what happens is if you

try to control your own narrative of your own shame

and your own sin, what will happen is it will

begin to unravel and unravel and unravel, and the embarrassment

and the shame will become greater and greater.

And that's what happens to David.

What starts as a moment of compromise leads to a

lifetime of consequences when we've refuse to bring light to

our own brokenness. Because here's the second point the next chapter.

What we see is we see.

This burden of brokenness that David experiences. I'm gonna read

this quickly, but what happens is David does all that

he does to try to cover up his shame, try

to cover up all of his addiction, try to cover

up all of his trauma, try to cover up all

of his pain, and it just keeps getting worse and

worse and worse. Because eventually, what happens that child that

he marries her, that first child, ends up being a miscarriage.

It just keeps getting worse and worse and worse.

That often is what happens in our own life, with

our own shame and our own sin is.

It gets worse and worse and worse.

But what happens is Samuel, chapter twelve, verse one to seven.

There's a burden of brokenness that David experience. And it

says this the prophet Nathan. The Lord sent Nathan to David.

When he came to him, he said to him there

were two men in a certain town, one rich and

the other poor. The rich man had a very large

number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had

nothing except one little ew lamb he had brought. He

raised it, and it grew up with him and his children,

that shared his food, drink from his cup, and even

slept with him in his arms. It was like a

daughter to him the little lamb. Now a traveler came

to the rich man, But the rich man were fained

from taking one of his own sheeper cattle to prepare

a meal for the traveler who.

Had come to him.

Instead, he took the little baby lamb that belonged to

the poor man, his only lamb, and prepared it for.

The one who had come to him.

And David burned with anger against the man, and said

to Nathan, as surely as the Lord lives, the man

who did this must die.

He must pay for that lamb four.

Times over, because he did such a thing and had

no pity that.

Nathan said to David, you are that man ouch.

Hold on, this is what the Lord, God of Israel says.

I anointed you king over Israel. I delivered you from

the hand of Saul. I gave your master's house to you,

and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you

all of Israel and all of Judah. And if all

this had been too little, I would have given you

even more. Why did you despise the word of the

Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes?

You struck down.

Your Raye of the Hittite with the sword. You took

his wife to be your own. You killed him with

the sword of the Ammonites. Now, therefore the sword will

never depart your house because you despised me and took

the wife of your Raya of the hit Tighte to

be your own. You see what happens in this moment

is David reveals his own brokenness, his own hypocrisy. He says,

that person who stole something, that person who sinned, that.

Person who fell short.

They need to be held accountable, Nathan says, and you

are that person that needs to be held accountable. Because

what happens is many of us, like David, we wear

crowns in public, but we carry wounds in pride, and

so publicly, David is trying to where this crown is king,

and he trying to man. He got the right outfit on,

he's got the right colors on, he's got the right words,

He got anything, he says, Everyone does it on the

outside looking in is like David's the man. He has

it all together. This is the guy who can throw

a sling shot, play a harp, write songs, and beat

somebody's butt. He's got it all. He's got it all.

But on the inside, he's got these wounds. He's got

this pride, he has this addiction, he has this way

about himself that he's trying to get whatever he wants

and whenever he wants. And what happens is God doesn't

want to expose David to humiliate him. He wants to

heal him. And what happens in when my sin and

your sin and our shame is exposed, God is not

trying to taunt you.

God is not trying to say, look at this, look

at this clown, look at this sinner. God is trying

to say, I can heal that.

If you would expose it, if you would allow God

to touch it. Saint John Christosum says this, He who

is ashamed of his wounds will never luck Christ touch them.

If you're ashamed of your pain, if you're ashamed of

your wounds, then you will never give God the ability

to heal you. When God exposes you and I, he

wants to heal us. He wants to deliver us. When

He calls out our own hypocrisy, When he calls out

our own sin, it's not to bring shame to you.

It's to bring surrender to you and I. God desperately

wants us to surrender to him. God desperately desires for

you and I to see that we have fallen short.

But God is stronger. And if you allow God to

work in you and through you, you can experience the

very goodness and grace and strength of God. But your

own strength and God's strength cannot coexist.

And what happened was David was relying on the crown.

Instead of relying on the King instead of relying on

God and surrendering to God.

So here's what happens when.

Nathan exposes him, and Nathan calls him out. Here's the

difference between Solomon and others. This is why David still

to this day as known as a man after God's

own heart, because what happens is David immediately breaks down

in tears. He recognizes how he's fallen short, he recognizes

his own brokenness. And what happens is, I must spend

a little time on this before we close and worship together.

What happens is his shame begins and starts a song.

And you may or may not know it, but in

one of the songs, Psalms fifty one was pinned. Immediately

when David came to the realization of his sin with

Bethsheba and his sin with your Ayah, David goes into

his closet. He pulls out his harp, he pulls out

a pin, he pulls out a paper, and he begins

to sing a song, a prayer to God of repentance

of his own brokenness.

He sings God a song. But the song.

Itself, the lyrics you've ever heard a song before where

the song was decent, but the lyrics were powerful.

It's like, that's a good song, but then someone tells you,

but listen to the lyrics.

Did you know that they lost this and this and

this after this song? Or did you know that the

love of their life left him? And then they wrote.

And then you go you listen to again, like wow,

this is powerful.

See, David, it wasn't that the chords were brilliant or

the keys were brilliant.

It's the lyrics that were brilliant.

I'm not gonna share all of Psalms fifty one, but

I'm gonna share some incredible key points because Psalms fifty

one is not just a confession.

It's a restoration.

David is restoring his relationship with God.

There was a moment when.

I was in college and I was in Bible School.

And as I was in Bible School, I became kind.

Of a leader.

I was a leader over you know, I was kind

of you know in college as they him as ra

so I was a resident administrator for you know, dorms and.

Stuff like that. And I'm in Bible school and and.

I ended up getting too close to a girl. Okay,

little Jezebel. All right, so she h Now I'm just playing,

but I did. I got I got too close to

a girl and we did some dumb things together. And

and what happened was she was telling her roommate one.

Day, and her roommate went and told the dean.

So next thing, you know, I find myself in the

in the dean's office and they are, you know, telling me, hey,

we heard you've.

Been, you know, acting up at him and doing some things.

And say, yeah, you know that's me and so and

so that you know, tell us what you've been doing.

I said, I, you know, we've been doing this, and

I've been doing that, and her and I have been

doing this, and we've been doing that. And and they said,

all right, here's what's gonna happen. We're gonna we're gonna

bring all those that you're over as an ra and

you got to tell all of them everything you've done.

And then you're gonna have to write a letter to

your pastor tell him everything that you've done. At the time,

Pastor Diego wasn't my pastor because I was out in

la and I was going to another church.

So I had to do that.

And then they go, and then we know your dad's

a pastor, so then you need to go sit down

and you need to go meet with your dad. You

got to tell him what you did. And so I'm like, oh, okay,

so you know, I'm crying. I'm embarrassed, and basically what

happens is when I share it. Uh.

The dean told me afterwards, I find.

It hard that you are even a believer because of

what you did. I don't even think that you're saved.

And I was like, wow, like that they hit me,

like I'm not saved. I'm just stupid. But you know,

I'm confess Jesus. I love Jesus. I'm trying my best,

and I'm confessing. I'm doing everything you put me in

front of two hundred kids. I'm doing doing everything that

you want me to do. I had to write a

letter to this girl's dad and.

All these things like that, and like I'm doing everything.

I'm just I look ridiculous out here doing everything I can.

And I heard from two other pastors, yeah, we don't

think you're you're a Christian. I mean, just imagine that

you're trying to do everything to follow Jesus and you're

twenty one years old and you're told by everyone that

you respect, we don't think you're getting to heaven, like,

oh my gosh. And so then that next weekend, I

go to my dad's house. I begin to tell my dad, Hey,

this is what I did, and this is what they've asked.

Me to do.

And I began to weep in front of my dad

and tell him everything I did, told him all the

bunch of other stupid stuff if I was doing out

in Hollywood and Highland as well.

I just laid it all out on the table.

And as I'm sitting there and I'm crying, my dad said,

you know what, Adam, last I checked King David did

some stupid stuff in the Bible, and if he can

be a man after God's on heart after everything he did,

then what makes you think you can't be a man

after God's on heart after what you did. And he said,

let's talk to Jesus and we began to pray together.

In one area of my life with believers, I was shamed.

I was told God hates you, God's so displeased with you.

And then to my dad, who's a man of God

as well, he says, you know, God can take that

shame and give you a song.

Right.

You know, God can still use you. You know, you

know God loves you. He doesn't despise you. He wants

to heal you, see that. And what happens is He

used that moment of David to heal my heart. But

here's what you gotta see. Look at Psalms fifty one,

because this is the song.

This is the song that.

He sings now because it's in Hebrew, and I'm not

gonna sing it for you in Hebrew because my Hebrew's

terrible and I'm just not that great at it. But

you gotta imagine this is done in Hebrew. And so

there's you know, words that rhyme and go together and

sing together.

But we'll do it in English. And just read it.

It says this, have mercy on me, oh God, according

to your steadfast love, according to your abundant mercy, Blot

out my transgressions, Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and

cleanse me of my sin. For I know my transit,

he said, I know what I did. I know my sin,

and my sin is ever before me. When I wake up,

my pain is there, when I go to sleep, my

pain is there, and he says, against you, and you

only have I sin. He recognizes what he did to

your Riah. He recognizes what he did to best. But

he says, God, at the end of the day, I

did this against you.

And he says, I have sinned before you.

And behold you delight in truth in the inward being,

and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.

Purge me with hiss up, and I shall be clean.

Wash me and I shall be wider than snow, creating

me a clean heart, O God.

And renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from your presence, and take not

your holy spirit from me.

I want you to go back to Purge me with hissap.

He says, take not your holy spirit for me, creating

me a clean heart. But here's to me the most

powerful statement in everything we just read. And you may

be thinking to yourself, why I don't even know what

hissup is?

Is that like syrup? Is that like what you put

on pank? What is that? You see? What that is?

What a hissip is is it's a tree branch. And

during Passover, if we know the Passover story and communion,

what we do today and what we did in our services,

and what we'll do on Good Friday in a couple weeks.

All of that points back to the moment in Egypt

when the Angel of Death passed over the door post

of every israel life and protected their families, when the

Angel of Death went through to vindicate Israel against Egypt.

But every single year, even I.

Think this week, in our next week is.

Passover in the Jewish custom, and so what happens is is.

Every year they remember the moment we're on the door post.

They put blood on the door post, and the spirit

of God when it saw it and recognized the blood

it was a lamb's blood. When it saw the blood,

it passed over it, which means everything that was in

this room was safe, Everything beyond these doors were safe.

How did they put the blood of the lamb on

the doorpost, Well, they did that with a hiss up branch.

It's a tree and it just was branches. And what

the Israelites did was they took these branches, they wrapped

them just like this, and then they got the lamb's blood.

They took the lamb's blood and they dipped it and

they took it across the doorposts, and they brushed it.

And the blood of the lamb.

When the Angel of Death saw it, it said, everything

that's beyond this door, it's clean, it's covered. You don't

need to look behind this door. So what David is saying,

and he's saying, God, I got all this baggage, I

got all this sin, I got all this shame. What

I'm gonna do God, So I'm gonna put it over here.

And God, what I'm asking you is beyond this door,

I'm gonna ask that your hiss up branch, your blood

will cover everything.

Beyond this door.

That you.

That I have sin, and I have shame, and I

have broken this. But Lord, I pray.

That when you say it it's your blood that covers

my life, that it'll make me white as snow, that

it'll create in me a clean heart. So he's saying, God,

I know there's stuff behind this.

Door, I know what's beyond this, but.

I know that if your branch can cover my life,

it'll all be forgiven. So he says, Lord, would your

hiss up branch.

Cleanse me to me?

That's the most powerful statement of all of Psalms fifty one,

because it says with the blood of the Lamb a

couple weeks away from Easter, when we celebrate the blood

of the Lamb that was slain for our sins on

that cross. And if you allow the blood of Jesus

to pass over your life, whatever you got beyond this door,

God can cover that, and he won't cover whatever's outside

of this blood.

Whatever is outside of this blood.

That he can see, he will consume it, and he

will consume our life. But if we allow the blood

of the Lamb to deliver our shame and deliver our brokenness,

David recognizes his sham sin, he recognizes his brokenness, But

in his song he says, God.

Cover me.

And there are times in our own life and a

few moments, I'm gonna give us an opportunity to sing

our own song to the Lord, because you may be

here today and you may be saying, I need to

put some stuff in that room. I need that branch,

I need that blood. I need the work of Jesus

to cover some things I got going on. I got

some addiction, I got a slope of sin that's just

been getting worse and worse and worse.

I got some things that are begetting harder and harder

and harder.

I have trauma that's been getting more and more terrible,

and I just believe God could do a miracle in

this place today. I believe across all of our campuses

when we worship together, God could actually break some change

free today. That the blood of Jesus is still at

work and it's still a miracle today.

We partook in communion this weekend.

That is the presence of Jesus that is at work

in our life.

It's a miracle of God.

Here's what I'm going to do in a few moments

when we go to worship and we give God our shame,

and we give God our brokenness, and.

We allow the blood of Jesus to cover our life

and to heal.

Us and to restore us and bring us into right

relationship with God. Just a few weeks ago, there was

a neighborhood group that happened at one of our campuses,

and I was told it by our team. And what

happened was is there was a young man who showed

up to the neighborhood group, and within the neighborhood group,

he started talking about a particular addiction of smoking weed,

not in a way that he needed it medically or

for anything else it was. He said, this is an addiction.

I cannot operate in life without this. It has control

of me. It has control of my finances, has control

of everything. Every time I get paid, I just re

up as much as I possibly can get. And he's

broken with these men and he tells him, I'm I don't.

Know what to do.

So they prayed for him and they encouraged him. And

after the neighborhood group, he asked them, a couple of

the leaders, would you come to my car with me?

And they say okay, So they go to.

The car with him, and he goes in the backseat

and he pulls out, pulls out a weed pipe, pulls

out a whole new stack of marijuana, pulls out re

up gummies, everything, and he gives it to these men

and he says, will you throw this away from me?

I feel if I go home with this, he's going

to start the cycle all over again. And he says,

right now, in this moment, I'm done. I want to

be set free. So he gives it to them. He says,

please throw it all away from me, and God begin

to work through that young man in that moment, because

what happens is when you're ready to just give it

all away, when you're ready to just throw it all away,

and every one of us, whether it's our secret sin,

that we have that thing that you hold onto, that

thing that you can't get through in life without, then

I want to invite you because you may be here

and on you today. You came in ready, you got

your pack, you're itching till service ends and you can

go drive down the block or even hey, I've seen

it before in our own parking lot and you just

you light one up, smoke a cigarette light to join up.

And you may be like, I'm done, I don't want

to do it anymore.

A slippers r.

Maybe you're hearing you know, you're like, I don't do cigarettes.

It's bad for your throat. But you got that little

vaightpin on you.

You know this controls.

You can't focus without this thing. And you say, God,

I don't want to live in addiction anymore. I don't

want to live in shame. And you're like, I'm done,

or maybe like I don't.

I don't know.

That's hard stuff because you know other people's like alcohol.

You may have a little shot on you right now.

Maybe you got a lot of them at home. You

know this control you. You know you can't enjoy life without it.

It just it just makes me more bubbly. You know

that God's been telling you. You know, you're way too

in love with that thing. And you're going, man, I'm

talking about.

I don't want it anymore. Maybe like I don't have

that problem.

But you've been going to your doctor and they talking

about your blood pressure and you got a good old

snickers on you. Bible talks about gluttny more than does

about drunkenness.

So you got your little your.

Little sugar, your little sugar break on you. But you know,

for your health right now, this has been no good

for you. This has been killing you. And you're going, man,

I'm done. I don't I don't want it anymore.

Or maybe lastly, we don't do it anymore. And I didn't.

I didn't want to send our team to buy the inappropriate.

Ones, but you got magazines still in your life. I

wanted to bout those or had someone on the team out,

and you would have sold them at the liquor store.

It's just a mad.

He said, Well, I don't have those anywhere, But I

got on my phone. So before you leave church today,

maybe there's some apps you need to sit and delete.

Maybe there's some people you need a text that you

need help to be accountable to.

Maybe you're saying, you know what, I just throw it away.

I just need to give it up. So here's what

I'm gonna do right now, I'm gonna pray. In just

a moment, we're gonna go into worship together. If you

want God to break you of some shame, I'm just

gonna ask you across.

All of our campuses. Our campus pastors will take over.

I'm just asking you across all.

Our campuses if you want to be broken of some shame,

you want to be broken of some sin that you're saying, God,

I believe that in this place you can do a

miracle that I'm gonna ask. Then when we stand to worship,

you come to the altern worship God. But lastly, I'm

gonna make a unique extension as well. When that people

may partake in or may not. But today when you came,

you have stuff on you that you're ready to just

throw it away. That's what we got the trash cans

for in our nerviss Throw it away, Throw it away

tomorrow and the next day you'll continue to know. But

I believe God choice you got to make every day.

But I believe God does do miracles. God does heal,

God does deliver, And in one moment, God can and

we'll do a miracle. The question is where is your heart.

If you bring God your heart, he will bring you healing.

And so when we go to worship, I'm not looking.

We don't got cameras on the trash cans. Now, I

don't care what you came in with. Trust me, patriarychis

all types of people. I don't care what you walked

in with. I don't care what you have. But when

we worship, if you want to come up and you

want to throw it away, We're just gonna grab these

bags at the end of service and were throwing it

in the trash, We'll be incinerated for you. But I

believe God can restore you. I believe God can heal you.

Just like David. No matter how far you go, you'll

find God. As long as you're looking for him, God

can restore you. Don't ever let someone say that God

cannot and will not heal you and will not restore you,

because he will don't matter how far you are.

So I'm gonna pray right now.

Our campus pastor is gonna lead in a moment to

worship across the campuses. But I'm gonna invite us to

as well, that we seek God right now, just for

a moment, and we just worship the Lord. And I

just ask you that you invite.

God to speak to you today because.

You may have come in here because some of the

things you may have to correct, you can't correct until

you get home, so no one's gonna be there. Told

you accountable is something that only by the power of

God that He needs to lead you in that only.

He could do. So I just invite you. Could we

all stand right now across all our campuses. Would you

just do me a favor?

Would you open up your hands and open up your palms,

he says, a sign of surrender the Lord and God.

Right now, Holy Spirit, we ask you to come in

this place. We ask you to come into our heart today.

I pray you call us unto yourself.

Lord. May your hiss up branch cover us.

Lord, May the work of Jesus on the cross and

the blood of Jesus cover our sins today.

Father God.

May we cry out to you Jesus, and may your

presence dwell within us today. In Jesus' name, Amen, we

let our campuses begin to worship. I'm gonna ask you

that as we seek God, if you're ready and willing,

feel free. If you want to do it as a

as more of a symbolic of Hey, when I get home,

I'm gonna address some things, then.

I just invite you.

There's just something there's something different about actually stepping out

from your seat and making an outward commitment to Because.

We can just hide in our shame. We can be

like God between me and you. And that's okay.

You could do that, but God may also be telling you,

you know what, we're way.

Too concerned with what everybody else thinks.

If Jesus can die naked on a cross in front

of everyone, unclothed, where everyone can see them, then we could,

nakedly and unasha amidly come to the altar and worship

the King of Kings and the Lord of lords and

bring him our shame and bring him our brokenness. And

I believe that God can and will heal you. Whenever

you're ready, feel free. Trash cans are open. The altar

is open. Let's begin to worship the Lord this evening.

that as the Spirit of God would speak to us today,

we know that we cannot do this based off our

own strength, but only by the strength of the Spirit

of God. So God, I pray right now in Jesus' name,

you will be giving strength to every person, Lord, that

they will surely overcome because there's no condemnation for those

that are in Christ. Jesus, Father God, that there is

life in the spirit today God, and today I pray

that every person begin to walk by the spirit, have

the strength of the spirit of God. And I pray

you move through every person, Lord, to make yourself known. God.

May we decrease so that you may increase in our

life today. And I pray Lord that has some of

us and all of us in this place and time

to time we carry shame, and we carry guilt, and

we carry sin. May we remember that there's a song

for that. That song is the goodness of Jesus.

Who bore it all and carried it all.

Lord. So if I pray that there's anyone in this

room today, anyone watching online, anyone in the courtyard, if

you're ready to make that decision to follow Jesus for

the first time in your life or to rededicate your life,

and you say I'm done running, I'm gonna surrender. I'm

gonna make Jesus my Lord and savior, and I'm gonna.

I'm gonna allow him, and I'm gonna ask him to

pass over my sin, to carry it all on that cross.

I invite you today, right now, in this moment, we

say this prayer all together today as we affirm the

goodness of God.

Would you say, dear Lord Jesus.

This place, I confess you as Lord and Savior of

a believe in my heart that you died on the

cross and you rose three days later.

From this day forward, I commit to follow you for

the rest of my days in Jesus' name. Amen.

funeral of what you're walking away from. But also more

than that, it's a rebirth. It's a birth of what

God wants to do in your life to the fullness

that he can because you've given him it all today.
