  1. How are we doing tonight? Family? Everybody good? Can you

  2. just give yourself a round of applause for being here

  3. on Dodger Night where my Dodger Blue fans at right.

  4. I know the playoffs are happening right now. I don't

  5. know what the score. What's the score right now? Five

  6. three or something? Five four? Okay, So you guys showed up.

  7. But I'm so glad that you showed up tonight. You know,

  8. I believe that, you know, the midweek services one of

  9. those one of those check marks where you just got

  10. to get refueled and be in the presence of God,

  11. but also being community and beingcouraged not just through worship,

  12. but hearing God's word and filtering all that. So tonight

  13. we're gonna be opening up the Word of God together,

  14. not just to kind of learn history, because I believe

  15. the Book of Joshua has been teaching us a lot

  16. of things, a lot of principles, a lot of you know,

  17. a lot of theological thoughts and stuff like that. But

  18. I believe that it's more than just another message because

  19. you're hearing God's voice if you believe that God's word

  20. is true. And so we're walking through Joshua chapter nineteen,

  21. and we're probably seventy five percent in the Book of Joshua.

  22. We're at the tell end of this book. There's twenty

  23. four chapters. But my prayer tonight is that we don't

  24. just hear another message, but we experience the move of God,

  25. and not just the move of God, but but we

  26. recognize that God has purchased us through Jesus Christ. And

  27. that's what we're gonna see tonight, right, amen, So let's

  28. all stand for the reading of God's word. We are

  29. in Joshua chapter nineteen, and we're gonna be reading a

  30. couple of verses. We're gonna be in this chapter. It's

  31. fifty one verses, but we're just gonna read a couple verses.

  32. We're gonna read verse one, verse ten, verse seventeen, verse

  33. twenty four, thirty two, forty and forty nine through fifty one.

  34. So there's a lot of verses. So here's what it

  35. says in verse one of Joshua chapter nineteen. The second

  36. lot came out of Simeon. I want you to underline

  37. that because that's an important tribe to remember. For the

  38. tribe of the people of Simon, according to their clans,

  39. and their inheritance was in the midst of the inheritance

  40. of the people of Judah. Serve of that highlight that

  41. underline that, because that's going to connect to Simeon. We'll

  42. go on to the next verse, verse ten. This is

  43. the next tribe that gets their inheritance and their allotment

  44. and land. It says here the third lot came up

  45. for the people of Zebulun according to their clans, and

  46. the territory of their inheritance reached as far as said

  47. The fourth lot verse seventeen came out of Isakar for

  48. the people of Isakar according to their clans. Verse twenty four,

  49. the fifth lot came out of the tribe of the

  50. people of Asher according to their clans. The sixth lot

  51. came out of the people of Naphtali for the people

  52. of Naphtali according to their clans. Verse forty The seventh

  53. lot came out of the tribe of the people of

  54. Dan according to their clans, And then verse forty nine

  55. all the way to fifty one says this when they

  56. had finished distributing the several territories the land of inheritance,

  57. the people of Israel gave an inheritance among them to Joshua,

  58. the son of None. By command of the Lord, they

  59. gave him the city that he asked ten Mythsouri in

  60. the hill country of Ephraim, and he built the city

  61. and settled in it. These are the inheritance that eliez

  62. are the priests and Joshua the son of None, and

  63. the heads of the father's houses of the tribes of

  64. the people of Israel, distributed by Lot at Shiloh before

  65. the Lord at the entrance of the tent of meetings.

  66. So they finished dividing the land. Before we go any further,

  67. let's go ahead and invite God to speak to us.

  68. By your heads close us, Father God, we just want

  69. to ask you and invite you here tonight. I pray

  70. that your word goes forth, that you would make your

  71. word alive sharper than any two edged sword. I pray

  72. that you speak to us, pierce our hearts, transform our lives,

  73. and may be reminded of the purchase that you bought

  74. through us, through Jesus Christ and his name. We pray,

  75. and God's people say, Amen, and man, you may be seated.

  76. You know when I'm reading through Joshua a lot about

  77. who this man is. But you know, it made me

  78. to start thinking about what what it means to have legacy.

  79. But not only legacy, but could it be that when

  80. you look at the Christian life, the greatest threats and

  81. the greatest danger is not walking away from the Lord.

  82. I don't think that's the greatest threat. I believe the

  83. greatest threat in Christendom is complacency. It's it's this idea

  84. that you're settling for less when He already purchased it

  85. for you. And that's what we kind of see think

  86. about it. Most of us don't wake up one morning

  87. and say I don't believe in God anymore. It doesn't

  88. just happen overnight, right, That's not how it usually happens there.

  89. There's there's some things that that take place. I think

  90. the real danger is being subtle, you see that, right.

  91. It's it's when you still sing the songs, is when

  92. you still show up to church. It's it's when you

  93. still call yourself Christian, but deep down and you've kind

  94. of settled, you've kind of gone through the motion. We've

  95. decided that you know where I am now is good enough.

  96. And even though God has more for you and that's

  97. the danger of kind of settling, that you're just going

  98. through the motion. The truth is, most of us don't

  99. settle in obvious, dramatic ways. We kind of settle in

  100. the quiets and the ordinary ways. Some of us settle

  101. in our marriages. God can heal, God can restore, God

  102. can even breathe life in your marriage. But instead of

  103. fighting for it, we've learned to live with distance, or

  104. some of us have settled in our calling. You know

  105. that God is tugging and calling you to step out

  106. of your comfort zone, and he's tugging your heart to

  107. step into ministry, right, to lead, to serve, but you've

  108. convinced yourself that the sideline is way safer. I'd rather

  109. just be on a sideline. Some of us we settle

  110. with our struggles. The addiction, the bitterness, that shame you've

  111. been carrying all your life is so long that instead

  112. of letting God deliver you, you've decided to kind of

  113. manage it yourself, and so you go through it by yourself.

  114. Some of us slip into settling in our devotion to God.

  115. Think about it. God is inviting you to deeper in prayer,

  116. but we often find ourselves ending the night with what

  117. I call and gen Z call, and Jennaffa call a

  118. doom scrolling. You're just scrolling through the phone. And some

  119. of us settle with our families. God gave us the

  120. role of discipling our kids, but we've allowed the world

  121. to disciple them. Family settling doesn't always look like rebellion.

  122. It looks like convenience, letting the enemy step in, and

  123. it looks like comfort. It leaves us standing in front

  124. of the promised land while never stepping foot in it.

  125. And that's the tension in Joshua chapter nineteen, that's what's

  126. happening here. On the surface, it looks like a geography lesson.

  127. There's a bunch of names of tribes and all the

  128. borders and all the cities. But beneath it lies a

  129. prophetic warning for us tonight. And that's this. And I

  130. want you to write this down. Don't miss it is this,

  131. Don't miss what God has already purchased for you. Don't

  132. miss it because at the end of the chapter we

  133. get this surprise twist. Every tribe got their inheritance, including

  134. Joshua himself, not first, but last, Joshua, the man who

  135. led Israel into the land, Joshua who fought the battles,

  136. Joshua who carried the burden for everyone, last in line,

  137. but never left out. Why would God write the story

  138. this way? Well, if you look at it, God is

  139. teaching us something right. He's teaching us about timing. He's

  140. teaching us about patience. He's teaching us about what really

  141. matters in our lives. God is warning us if you

  142. settle for less than his promise, it will cost you

  143. more than the weight will ever will So here's here's

  144. why I title tonight's message, don't miss what God has purchased.

  145. If you're taking notes, here's the three points, and this

  146. is what God's what God gives us. He gives us

  147. three clear instructions or warnings, and it's all in the verse.

  148. It's don't waste what God has given you Verses one

  149. through nine, don't settle and compromise Verses ten through forty eight,

  150. and don't let don't forget the way of humility Verses

  151. forty nine to fifty one. Let's start with the first point.

  152. Write this down, don't waste what God has given. If

  153. you notice verse nine of Joshua nineteen, it says this

  154. the inheritance of the people of Simian formed part of

  155. the territory of Judah because Juda's portion was too large

  156. for them. Now, the tribe of Simian is a sobering

  157. example for you and I today. Why because unlike all

  158. the other tribes, Simian didn't receive their distinct territory. They

  159. didn't receive a territory for their own. They received a

  160. territory in light of Judas territory. That's important to note,

  161. because every tribe gets their own borders, every tribe gets

  162. their own city, their own land, their own inheritance. But

  163. what does Simian get Look at anything. They get Juda's blessing,

  164. they get Judah's inheritance, they get Judas cities. They don't

  165. have their own place, they don't have their own portion. Instead,

  166. it's tucked and absorbed into Judah. Us. That's not just random,

  167. that's not just a coincidence. That is the hand of God.

  168. And if you study this, you'll notice that that generations earlier,

  169. Simeon's violence and sin brought judgment. Their sin brought judgment,

  170. and because of that, they were scattered. In other words,

  171. what could have been theirs was wasted. What God had

  172. intended as a blessing, ended up smaller because of the

  173. way they lived. And that's a warning for us tonight.

  174. See God entrusted us with so much of our families,

  175. that our callings, our resources, our opportunities. But what do

  176. we do. We kind of squander them, We treat them lightly.

  177. If we let sin and distraction rule us, we kind

  178. of risk ending up like Simeon. Because what does it

  179. say here in Genesis forty nine, if you go way

  180. back in in this book, it says here that their

  181. father was who was Jacob? Jacob's blessing his son? And

  182. he gets to Simeon and Levi, and what does he say?

  183. In verse five? He says this, Simeon and Levi are brothers.

  184. Their swords are weapons of violence. Cursed be their anger.

  185. They're cursed for its fierce and their wrath. For this crew,

  186. I would divide them in Jacob and under And notice

  187. that word scatter them in Israel. Why did Simon lose

  188. their inheritance? Well, if you remember in Genesis chapter thirty four,

  189. what happened there. They slaughtered a whole city and shake

  190. them everyone, man, woman, kids, And because of that, their

  191. wrath was out of control. Their anger was unchecked. And

  192. so we pick up in jennih Since forty nine, verse seven,

  193. it says, here your inheritance will be scattered. Now catch this.

  194. Jacob spoke that word, and who was still alive. Simeon

  195. was still alive, their children were still young. Life went

  196. on like nothing happened generations past. They went down to Egypt,

  197. four hundred years of slavery, than forty years in the wilderness,

  198. then years of conquest under Joshua, and here, four hundred

  199. and fifty years later in Joshua chapter nineteen, that word

  200. that was spoken by Jacob comes true. Here in this

  201. sext Simeon doesn't get a distinct territory. They're scattered, and

  202. they're absorbed into Judah Church. Don't you see it. God's

  203. word doesn't have an expiration date. It may take four years,

  204. it may take forty years, it may take four hundred years.

  205. But if God said it, it will come to pass.

  206. And that means two things for us. Write this down.

  207. Number one, if God has spoken a warning, don't play

  208. with it because time won't erase it. And number two,

  209. if God has spoken a promise, don't doubt it because

  210. it will come to pass. Because time can't cancel it.

  211. And so we see here in Isaiah forty verse eight,

  212. the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of

  213. God will stand. So Simeon teaches us that what God

  214. spoke in Genesis was fulfilled. In Joshua chapter nineteen. We

  215. see that. But here's the warning. Here's the warning. Here's

  216. the underlying point that I want you to get. And

  217. it's this unrepentant anger and just hurt people. It robs

  218. you of what God wanted to give you. God wants

  219. to give you something, But what's holding you back. Maybe

  220. it's your pride, Maybe it's your ego, maybe it's your

  221. your anger. Think about it. Anger always promises power, but

  222. it leaves you powerless. Anger always feels like control, But

  223. in the end it may cost you something. Anger might

  224. satisfy you in the moment, but it can shrink your

  225. inheritance in the long run. Simeon's tribe the land they

  226. were waiting for them, But what happened, their wrath reduced

  227. their land. If you don't believe me, look at Simeon,

  228. look at his fallout. We'll go through history. The root

  229. of it was in Genesis thirty four. The root of

  230. it started in second Simeon and Levi's anger boiled over.

  231. They slaughtered an entire city. Then we see the shame

  232. in Genesis chapter forty two, because if you fast forward

  233. at years later in Egypt, Joseph tested his brothers. But

  234. guests who was singled out? Guess what name was singled

  235. out by Joseph Simeon Genesis forty two twenty four, even

  236. his own family, his reputation carried the weight of violence

  237. and anger. Then we go to the sin in numbers

  238. twenty five to twenty six. Generations later at Ball, what

  239. happens Israel fell into idolatry. Guests who was leading the

  240. charge guess what tribe he was from? The Simian Knights.

  241. Then then we jump into the reduction. But notice what

  242. happens there. Right we hear numbers one and numbers twenty

  243. six that Simeon's men dropped from fifty nine thousand to

  244. twenty thousand men because of their disobedience. Then we go

  245. into Joshua nineteen. When it came to inherit the land,

  246. Simeon didn't get their territory. Worry, what happened? Their terrritory

  247. was absorbed by Judah instead of standing in their promise,

  248. they lived in someone else's leftovers. Then we go into

  249. the silence. Deuteronom in thirty three, when Moses blesses the tribe,

  250. this is crazy. Before his death, Simeon's name never comes up.

  251. Out of the twelve tribes, one tribe wasn't mentioned from Moses.

  252. Imagine being so marked by anger that Heaven has nothing

  253. left to say about you. Then we go into the absence.

  254. When you read the Old Testament, from the Book of

  255. Judges to kings, look through Israel's history, just look through

  256. their history. No prophet, no judge, no king ever came

  257. from Simeon. Judah produced David and the line of the Massage.

  258. The Benjamin produced Saul, Israel's first king, and Paul the apostle.

  259. The Levites produce Moses and Aaron and the entire levitical priesthood.

  260. Ephraim produced Joshua, who led the Israelites into the Promised Land.

  261. Dan produced Sampson. Every tribe produced something, but Simeon nothing. Silence.

  262. Their voice was erased from history just because of one

  263. man's sin and one man's anger. The scattering in First

  264. Chronicles four, Simon is drifting further and further out they

  265. become wanderers of the land, not rooted in one place,

  266. moving from one section to the next section, from one

  267. place to the next place. But here's what's crazy about

  268. the word of God, the final mention of Simeon in

  269. Revelations chapter seven, if you look at it, by God's mercy,

  270. By God's mercy, Simeons shows up one more time, where

  271. Revelation seven to seven sealed among the tribes of Israel,

  272. Simeon's name is mentioned, not because they deserved it, but

  273. because God is faithful even when we fail. Because God

  274. is faithful to keep his covenant that he had in

  275. Genesis thirty four to forty nine, all the way to

  276. Revelations chapter seven. God is faithful to keep his promise.

  277. And the truth is this family, Simons. Anger stained their

  278. reputation right, It reduced their numbers, erased their inheritance, it

  279. silenced their blessing, move their leaders, and it scattered their future.

  280. That's what unchecked anger does, doesn't It It breaks into

  281. something in that moment, and it can break generations after

  282. generation after generation. And if God had to step in

  283. with grace, Simeon's name would be lost forever and So

  284. here's the application. If you think about it, don't let

  285. anger rob you of what God has already set aside

  286. for you. If you're mad about someone tonight, ask for forgiveness.

  287. If you're angry about someone, if you're carrying bitterness in

  288. your heart, don't pass down what God never meant for

  289. you to carry. Stop carrying it, just let it go,

  290. just give it to God. And here's the hope. In

  291. light of this story, there was two brothers, it will

  292. send me in and who else? Levi? There's the hope.

  293. There's an example of what not to do. And here's

  294. an example of what to do. Because Levi had the

  295. same curse. They were scattered, they were divided. But when

  296. Moses came down the mountain and the people were worshiping

  297. the golden calf, what does Moses say? He says, who

  298. is on the Lord's side? And who stepped up and said,

  299. I'm ready, let's go? The Levites did. They stepped up

  300. and said, we received this command from you, Moses, we

  301. will go. We will stand on God's side. And they're

  302. scattering was redeemed. They didn't disappear like Simeon. They became

  303. priests that were scattered. Yes, scattered, but with purpose. There

  304. was a priest in every synagogue, placed in every tribe,

  305. carrying the arc, teaching the word, serving in the presence

  306. of God. This is a beauty, This is a beautiful

  307. picture of God's grace and mercy, and we need to

  308. follow that. Do you see that right? Do you see

  309. that the parallel right? Simeon's was hardened, Levi was humbled,

  310. Simeon was wasted, but Leebi worshiped. Simon lost his inheritance,

  311. but Levi carried God's presence. Simon was scattered in shame,

  312. but Levii was set apart in service. The difference wasn't

  313. God's favoritism. The difference is your response. What's your response

  314. when God is saying Who's on your Who's on my side?

  315. Are you gonna step up and say I'm on your side? God?

  316. I'm willing to step up. Simeon's angers scattered his tribe

  317. until they disappeared into Judah's shadow. Because if you look

  318. at geography, you look at all the cities that are

  319. in Simon, there is not one city that is mentioned

  320. in the Bible that highlights some type of significance. But

  321. if you look at Judah and what that line is,

  322. and what that line is is with King David and

  323. the Messiah, you'll see God's move in God's favor. And

  324. so here's here's the bottom line. Repentance can redeem a curse,

  325. but unrepentance will waste an inheritance. If you don't believe me,

  326. look at Hebrews twelve fifteen. See to it that no

  327. one fails to obtain the grace of God, that no

  328. root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by

  329. it many become defiled. Simeon was defiled by that. Simon

  330. failed to obtain this grace that God was giving, and

  331. so Levit leaned into that. And that brings us to

  332. the second instruction in this second warning point number two

  333. is this don't settle and compromise. If you look at

  334. verses ten through forty eight, this is a section that

  335. just covers every inheritance every tribe. It gives. It gives

  336. them their land and or allotment. And so we see

  337. first here in verses ten through sixteen versus Zebulin. And

  338. what's interesting about Zebulin. Zebulin was the younger brother, and

  339. so when the when the land was divided, typically it

  340. would be the oldest brother to receive the inheritance. But

  341. instead of the older brother receiving the inheritance, Zebulin receives inheritance.

  342. By human tradition, it's the car should have been gotten

  343. the first inheritance in this moment. But God here flips

  344. the order. And you see it because God, because grace

  345. out ranks tradition. God does not bow to man's authority.

  346. He is not bound by human law or human order.

  347. He does not check your resume before he calls your name.

  348. Your spiritual birth matters more than your natural birth. That's

  349. what God is trying to portray here as he's painting

  350. this picture of all these land being allotted. And he

  351. says this right in Hebrews because because the name Zebulence

  352. means dwelling or honored. Why because if you look at

  353. Isaiah chapter nine, Grace doesn't choose the obvious. Grace chooses

  354. the obedience that's good. And this is what it says

  355. here centuries later in Isaiah nine that their land will

  356. be called the Galilee of nations. Zebulin, who spent most

  357. of their life doing ministry, and galley Jesus. So what

  358. we see here is the very ground where Jesus himself

  359. would minister, would be from the tribe of Zebulin. And

  360. that's what we see here, right. Don't miss this. What

  361. looks small today, what looks in the significant, may become

  362. the place that Jesus shows up tomorrow. He may just

  363. show up. The place that seemed small became the stage

  364. for the Savior who did his greatest miracles in Galilee,

  365. who performed. He said, Grace has a way of re

  366. ordering your story, right. Grace has a way of taking

  367. you back from the back of the line to the

  368. front of the line. Grace has a way of turning

  369. overlooked places into holy ground. And that's what we see, right.

  370. Grace has a way of taking ordinary people like Zebulin

  371. and writing extraordinary stories through them. So we see that

  372. that grace in the order. Then we go into the

  373. next tribe. In verses seventeen to twenty three, it's the car.

  374. We see that faithfulness in the shadows matters, and so

  375. it's the Car's land wasn't flashy. There was no coastline,

  376. there was no capital city, but there was fertile ground

  377. in the valley. Their inheritance was very quiet. It was

  378. good for just farming. So they didn't have the best

  379. city or flashy city, but it was it was a

  380. country of just being steadied. And if you look at

  381. what the name Issacar means in Hebrew, it's a name

  382. that means that means this, there is reward, There is reward.

  383. And if you recall First Chronicles twelve thirty two says this,

  384. the men of Isacar understood the times and knew what

  385. Israel should do. That kind of discernment doesn't come from

  386. being in the spotlight. That kind of discernment happens right

  387. when you're rooted in faithfulness, when you serve, when you're

  388. not in the front, when you're in the back. That

  389. comes from hidden faithfulness, not spotlight performance. Some of you

  390. need to hear this. Not everyone is called to be

  391. Judah on the front lines. Not everyone is called to

  392. be Ephraim, center of the stage. But in God's kingdom,

  393. quiet faithfulness counts more than anything. It matters to God.

  394. He sees the prayers you pray when no one else

  395. is watching. He sees the way you serve when no

  396. one else notices. He sees your steady obedience, and he

  397. promises a reward and the encouragement for us as a

  398. Galatians six', nine do not grow weary in well doing

  399. for indue season you shall reap if you will not,

  400. faint not see. Family don't despise the, shadows don't despise

  401. the small. Beginnings don't Despise behind the, curtains you See

  402. god moving that Because heaven records what the crowd. Ignores

  403. faithfulness counts In god's. Poot so that's the tribe of itsa.

  404. Card then we go to the next. Tribe let's look

  405. At asher here verse twenty four to thirty. One if you,

  406. Remember asher received the coastal, line which will the northern

  407. side Of this was very, fertile very. Prosperous this was

  408. overflowing with. Resources and if you remember In genesis forty,

  409. nine it says Here asher's food shall be, rich and

  410. he shall yield royal. Delicacies they got the good. Land,

  411. basically they got everything they wanted the. Coastline they got

  412. all the olives they can. Have And luke twelve forty

  413. two reminds us that to who much is, given much

  414. will be. Required and So asher teaches us that abundance

  415. isn't just, privileged it's. Stewardship If god wants to bless

  416. you is because you're a good steward of. It and

  417. if you're wondering why you haven't been, blessed maybe because

  418. you haven't been a good steward of some. Things and

  419. so here we see that abundance is a, test but

  420. prosperity is a. Responsibility you got to be willing to

  421. hold the weight and carry the. Weight If god can

  422. trust you with, plenty he can trust you with. Purpose

  423. that's what we see here right say with, Me i'm

  424. blessed to be a. Blessing next we Have, naphtali which

  425. is verses thirty two to thirty. Nine and this is

  426. WHAT i call the conquests and the, strongholds because you Know,

  427. naftali their land was fortified cities and the. Mountains so

  428. this tribe had hard. Ground they had to deal with the,

  429. Battles they had to deal with the, strongholds and their

  430. inheritance wasn't handed to. Them they had to fight for.

  431. It and so we see that this tribe they had to.

  432. Fight and if you look at the meaning of this

  433. of this of this word naw, tally it means my,

  434. wrestling ready to. Wrestle and if you remember the start

  435. of the. Story the start of their story was. Struggle

  436. it was it was. Hardship but if you, remember if

  437. you look At isaad, nine it, says Here tali's, land

  438. people walking in darkness have seen a great. Light where

  439. in the land of. Nottality that means the land of

  440. wrestling became the land of. Revelation don't miss, this because

  441. your place of wrestling can become the very place of your,

  442. revelation your connection With. God then we go To, dan

  443. the final tribe here verse forty through forty eight weakness and.

  444. Compromise their territory was. Difficult it was the lowlands near The.

  445. Philistines this was we see that because this was this

  446. territory was very. Difficult they left their inheritance and they

  447. went up north to conquer easier. Cities and they renamed

  448. that Land. Dan and if you, remember and if you,

  449. Recall dan means and judges eighteen Verse kings twelve twenty,

  450. Nine dan means. Judge but they Misjudged god's. Calling instead

  451. of doing the hard, things they went to an easier

  452. city renamed It. Dan and so their compromise led to.

  453. Idolatry their weakness led to their compromise and so we

  454. see that, Right and so you have to realize that

  455. Sometimes god has given you heard assignment not just because

  456. he wants to give it to, you but he wants

  457. to teach you. Something he wants you to grow into.

  458. It he wants you to learn and unlearn some. Things

  459. and so Here, dan they didn't just, settle they. Compromised

  460. so we read Through joshua chapter, nineteen from every single

  461. tribe From simeon all the way down to Dan zebulan To,

  462. dan and these tribes preach to us grace or reorders,

  463. tradition that faithfulness matters even in, shadows that abundance requires,

  464. stewardship that that that the promises require, battle and that

  465. compromise will cost you everything in your. Life so here's the.

  466. Word don't settle and. Compromise don't rename shortcuts as. Blessings

  467. don't abandon the heart Assignment god has given. You step

  468. into the inheritance Because god has something for you and

  469. his promises are worth fighting for. It, amen last, point

  470. we finally arrive at the. Promise remember this it's not

  471. it's not a it's not a stage for. Pride it's

  472. it's an alley alley way for. Gratitude and that is

  473. this point number, three verses forty nine to fifty. One

  474. don't forget the way of. Humility this chapter in right

  475. With joshua receiving his. Inheritance, Well god was giving, him

  476. but watch, this he takes it. Last we're talking about

  477. the leader who carried, everything the leader who carried the

  478. majority of the, weight the leader who was in the

  479. front lines, battling who was leading and, dividing and the

  480. leader who did this waits till everyone has their, inheritance

  481. then decides to say it's my. Turn he was. Last that's,

  482. humility that's. Leadership leadership doesn't grab for, position, right but

  483. they Trust god with the. Provision, GOD i don't know

  484. How i'm gonna get there but, you BUT i believe you.

  485. Will and guess where he. Chooses and of all the

  486. places of his, allotment he Chooses Timnith, sarah which is

  487. not a lush. Valley it's very, small it's not the

  488. most prime real. Estate. Right if you had a chance

  489. to move To malibu or reality to where would you?

  490. Pick Probably? Malibu? Right for, him it's it's it's it's

  491. a barren hillside. Site there's nothing there there's no fertile,

  492. ground there's there's nothing to build. On there's there's no,

  493. fruits there's no, olives there's there's nothing. There and he

  494. chooses this, place a place that everyone. Overlooked And joshua

  495. saying is, saying, hey you receive your. Inheritance i'm gonna

  496. choose the most subtle. Location And joshua accepts. It but

  497. not only does he accept, it what does he? Do

  498. how old Is joshua? Here scholars say that he's probably

  499. in his eighties eighty, plus but he says. This he

  500. not only accepts the land and he goes goes to the.

  501. Land the text says that he rebuilds the. City he.

  502. Works he's still working as a leader who carried them

  503. to the Promised, land as a leader who won many,

  504. battles as a leader who, said you know, WHAT i

  505. deserve a. CASTLE i deserve a red carbage SHOWING i

  506. deserve to. Retire, no he doesn't even. Retire he decides

  507. to rebuild the. City he takes what was barren and

  508. he turns it into. Home and here's what's. Significant the

  509. last recorded act Of joshua's life was not conquering, kings

  510. was not dividing the, land was not leading armies to

  511. defeat the, enemy but it was rebuilding the. City that

  512. was the last recorded act By, joshua to rebuild the.

  513. City that tells us. Something what does that tell us

  514. that the legacy of a leader isn't in what he,

  515. takes it's in what he builds for. Others that's that's

  516. what real leadership looks. Like are you willing to build for?

  517. Others are you willing to pave the way for the

  518. next generation and the next generation and the next. Generation

  519. Because joshua here shows us that the real measure of

  520. a life isn't what you, conquer but what you. Build

  521. what are you? Building what are you leaving? Behind because

  522. your legacy won't won't be remembered for the battles you,

  523. fought or the lives you've or the or the or

  524. the victories you, gain but in the generations you. Sustained

  525. your story won't be remembered for all. That and that's

  526. the mark of true humility and the lasting That joshua.

  527. Does the scripture THAT i mentioned before as rebuild and

  528. lasting That jesus promised before he left was What john fourteen,

  529. two verse. Three and here's Here i'll end with. This

  530. you put the point, up and the point is, this

  531. don't miss the prophetic. Picture Because joshua points to a Greater,

  532. joshua and that Is. Jesus and that's what The book

  533. Of joshua is. Doing The book Of joshua is a.

  534. Foreshadow it's a, type and that type Is Jesus. Christ

  535. and we see that. Right joshua waited until the. Last

  536. jesus said, this the last shall be, first in the

  537. first shall be. Last jesus took the hill. COUNTRY i

  538. Mean joshua took the hill. Country jesus chose the hill Of.

  539. Calvary joshua gave the people rest in the. Land jesus

  540. gives this people eternal rest for their. Souls joshua divided

  541. an earthly. Inheritance jesus secure for us and everlasting. Inheritance

  542. joshua Led israel Into. Canaanite jesus leads us into a new.

  543. Creation joshua's victories were. Temporary jesus's victory at The cross is.

  544. Eternal joshua pointed To god's. Promises jesus is the fulfillment

  545. Of god's. Promise joshua rebuilt a City jesus is building a.

  546. Kingdom do you see the picture That joshua was just

  547. a foreshadow Of. Jesus that Everything joshua, did AND i

  548. said it, before the last thing That joshua does in

  549. scripture THAT i mentioned before is what what Does joshua

  550. do at the end of his? Life he, Rebuilds and

  551. what Does jesus do at the end of his? Life

  552. what was one of his last? Promises he says this

  553. In john, FOURTEEN i prepare a place for. You he

  554. is building something for, us just Like joshua was building.

  555. Something so as we close and we think about this,

  556. story you, Know joshua nineteen isn't just, history, right isn't

  557. just a long list of boundaries and. Land this is

  558. a picture pointing To. Jesus it's a warning for, us.

  559. Right it's a warning that we shouldn't settle and. Compromise

  560. it's a warning, that you, know don't forget that the

  561. way To god's kingdom and the way to live In

  562. god's kingdom is. Down it's. Humility if you look At

  563. matthew chapter, five verse three and, five it says this,

  564. right blessed are the poor in, spirit for they shall

  565. inherit The kingdom Of. God it starts with the humility

  566. and we see that, right and it all points To

  567. jesus who purchase our inheritance with partment with its. Blood

  568. and so as we, close before we leave and, DISMISS

  569. i just want to share just one, thought and that

  570. thought is. This it's the word. DEATH i think when

  571. you look at the word, death it's something that we

  572. get uncomfortable talking. About it's one of those things that

  573. when when when you hear the word, death it may

  574. it may be a word that we're scared, of or

  575. a word that that's that's just so, foreign or a

  576. word that you know that we just. Ignore but The

  577. bible talks more about death than a lot of other.

  578. Things one fourth of The bible talks about. Death so

  579. if The bible talks about, death we should talk about

  580. death as. Well and the reality is, this one day

  581. you AND i will. Die and so my question THAT

  582. i want to leave for you tonight is where will

  583. you spend eternity once you? Die and here's something That

  584. i've been praying through AND i wrote down and and

  585. then and this is this thought of the word that. Death

  586. and we're gonna talk and we're gonna break that word

  587. down BECAUSE i believe in that word, death that there's

  588. an acronym that that that can help us remind us

  589. of what it means to look beyond just the earthly,

  590. perspective and that is. This consider this acronym death is.

  591. Denial most people live in full. DENIAL a lot of,

  592. us like, man we're gonna live. Forever but if you

  593. look at The bible In James chapter, four verse, fourteen

  594. it says this that life is but a, mist here

  595. one day than gone the. Other let that sink in

  596. life is but a, vapor a mist that is here

  597. one day than gone the. Other one day we're, here

  598. one day we're. Gone death is real and there's no

  599. denying denying about. It if you look at the LETTER,

  600. e the LETTER e is for. Everyone death has has

  601. no respector of, age has no respector of, potential has

  602. no respective of who you, are one day you AND

  603. i will die. Everyone and The bible says In romans,

  604. five verse fifteen that sin by because of one man's,

  605. sin death is upon all of. Us so when you

  606. look at, death death is this. Time we will die

  607. someday and we're living on bar time is WHAT i

  608. like to call, it and that bar time is. This

  609. we have an expiration. Date we just gotta be ready for.

  610. It and so what you do between now and then

  611. is what matters. Most so denial. Everyone if you look

  612. at the letter a appointment Hebris nimrus twenty seven and says,

  613. this it is appointed for men to die once and

  614. then comes. Judgment that means you AND i have an

  615. appointment with. Death it's the only appointment you can't. Cancel

  616. we're gonna die. Someday you don't get to reschedule your.

  617. Death you don't get to, deny you don't get to delay.

  618. It you don't even get to negotiate with. Death we will,

  619. die it will. Happen it's, appointed and the letter t

  620. is here's. Today we have the opportunity today to make

  621. a decision about our. Eternity why not make that decision and,

  622. say you know, WHAT i want to spend eternity With,

  623. god The, Father god The, son And god The Holy.

  624. Spirit the last thing is this h here's the hope

  625. for corint In is, fifteen verse fifty five says, This oh,

  626. death where is your? Victory oh, death where is your?

  627. Sting that's the hope that we have because, death for

  628. The christian is just the. Beginning we're gonna live forever

  629. and ever and. Ever and hope isn't found in avoiding.

  630. Death hope is found in being ready for. It are

  631. you ready for? It are you? Ready how do you?

  632. Know in your? Hearts Maybe god may have spared you

  633. before or or or maybe you're just assuming that you're

  634. gonna live. Forever don't take it for. Granted if you

  635. want to come to know This. Jesus The bible says

  636. In john, fourteen verse, SIX i am the way truth in.

  637. Life no one comes with The father but through. Me

  638. From it's teen vers nine to ten says, this if

  639. you confess with your mouth and turn from your, sin

  640. then you shall be. Saved that's you. Tonight if you

  641. wanna come to know This jesus and understand this concept of,

  642. death to spend eternity With, God i'm should have raise

  643. your hand on count three one, two, three regie, Hands

  645. there some hands. There Praise. God repeat this prayer out

  646. loud from your. Heart, everyone bow your, hands close your.

  647. Eyes let's repeat this. Together Say, JESUS i need. YOU
