  1. Well, Praise God.

  2. Thank you to all those that consider Patriar your home

  3. church and you partner with us through your generosity for

  4. those that may be new to our church or new

  5. to coming around us, I want to thank you so

  6. much for your generosity. I think what's amazing about Patrio

  7. and this isn't any you know, every church has a

  8. different emphasis and sometimes people come to us and they'll say, hey,

  9. why don't you emphasize more of this or more emphasize

  10. more of that. Maybe when it comes to local outreach

  11. national outreach. Well, one of the things that we highly

  12. emphasize is the physical needs being the hands in Jesus

  13. in our own community. And so we have a Generosity center.

  14. And our Generosity center is across our Pomona campus, our

  15. Rancho campus here a Utica, where our original church building is,

  16. and so we have a Generosity center over there where

  17. we feed thousands of families a week.

  18. We have a ten million dollar food.

  19. Contract with Costco where they've committed annually that much in

  20. food that they give to us in our Generosity center.

  21. And so if you just google food banks in an Empire,

  22. Patrio will be in the top ten three times. It'll

  23. be our campus or our Generosity Center or whatever. Maybe

  24. I don't say that braggadociously. I say that because we

  25. aren't government funded. We do not get checks by the government,

  26. we do not get donations by the government. It is

  27. only through the generosity of our church that funds our

  28. Generosity Center. It's the generosity of business people that come

  29. alongside and fund what we're doing so that we can

  30. serve our community. And I want to thank you because

  31. when situations happen like it has in the nation, where

  32. people's benefits have been turned off, we don't have to

  33. start something up to reach our community. We do this

  34. three hundred and sixty five days a year, every single

  35. week as a church, fifty two weeks a year. Even

  36. on days like Saturday when it may be closed and

  37. someone needs something on a Thursday, our team works and

  38. does what wherever they can to feed someone to get

  39. them to our Generosity Center. We cannot do that without

  40. your generosity. And I want to just thank you. I'm

  41. not here to ask you for anything in that regard.

  42. I'm just here to say thank you that people have

  43. food on their table today Thanksgiving. People are gonna come

  44. through your generosity. We have been able to buy all

  45. of our turkeys for our Thanksgiving outreach because you give.

  46. And that is the church being the church.

  47. That's not just taking care of our campus and making

  48. sure that it looks good and that we can worship freely.

  49. It's being the hands and feet of Jesus. And so

  50. thank you.

  51. And I say that also because you may not know

  52. that we have that, and you may talk to someone

  53. that says, hey, I'm in need for food, or we

  54. have one of the largest diaper contracts in the Inland Empire.

  55. You may meet a mother who doesn't have diapers or whatever.

  56. It's called Patria Generosity Center. Okay, that's what you look up.

  57. That's what you connect with. And please make sure that

  58. you share that with people that you may meet that

  59. may be in need. And they can always call the

  60. office anytime to get more information in that regard. Well,

  61. if you have a Bible, would you turn and get

  62. your Bible ready. We're not going to turn to anywhere

  63. in particular. We're actually gonna jump through a bunch of

  64. passages this weekend because as you see, we got the

  65. baptismal right in front of us, and tomorrow we have

  66. I think over two hundred people signed up to be

  67. baptized tomorrow between first.

  68. And second service.

  69. And that's just at our Rancho campus, and our other

  70. campuses are doing baptisms as well, And so I'm gonna

  71. be talking about baptism today, but maybe not just water baptism.

  72. It's going to be slightly different.

  73. We've been in a series called Seeds of Revival, and

  74. if you haven't caught any of it, I encourage you

  75. to go back on YouTube and look at week one

  76. and two. Week one we introduce what a healthy view

  77. of revival is. It's where God will pour out his

  78. spirit fresh on his people. Last week we talked about

  79. how prayer is a foundation for revival, and if you

  80. were here last week, I want to say thank you

  81. for leaning in to praying together corporately. I just I

  82. wasn't here last week, and I'll share in a few

  83. moments why, but just seeing and I'm part of our

  84. preaching team, so we all study together every Tuesday, and

  85. our team decided, hey, we're going to have our church

  86. corporately pray. And just seeing people pray together, I mean,

  87. it was beautiful and I've just heard story after story

  88. about how God moved into people's lives, and thank you

  89. so much for participating and just seeing the Spirit of

  90. God active. And this week, what we're going to continue

  91. to talk about is baptism, not just water baptism. We're

  92. gonna talk about the baptism the Holy Spirit and us

  93. being baptized into the body of Christ. Because what's beauty

  94. is when you talk about the word baptism. And if

  95. you're new to church, I'll explain that in a few moments,

  96. but when you talk about baptism, it's one of the

  97. moments that the whole trinity of God, the Godhead is

  98. what we say, it's the Father, Son, Holy Spirit is

  99. involved in all forms of the baptism. In the form

  100. of baptism, when we talk about it in a few moments,

  101. you have the God had you, the Father who is there,

  102. and he's approving you and I. He's marking us with

  103. his approval not because of what we've done, but because

  104. our faith in Jesus. And then you have the work

  105. of Jesus that stands in the balance that now as

  106. God sees you and I received Christ as our savior,

  107. we see the work of Jesus in our life. And

  108. then lastly, what happens is is you have a moment

  109. where the Holy Spirit now puts his seal on your life.

  110. It's a beautiful moment where all of God is at

  111. active work in your life. And whether it's through the

  112. baptism of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of salvation, or

  113. the baptism into water, the Trinity is there in that moment.

  114. So I want to encourage you today in the few

  115. moments that we have. If you have a Bible, you

  116. can go to First Corinthians twelve. But we'll jump a

  117. little bit today, but that'll be the first part we'll

  118. be at.

  119. In just a few moments.

  120. But one of the things I want to encourage you

  121. today is to be open to God to baptize you.

  122. Open to God, Be open that God would speak to you,

  123. Be open to God that maybe the Lord would stretch

  124. you a little bit. Today. You may have said to yourself,

  125. what I've been water baptized before. Well, it's not just

  126. about water baptism that we're gonna talk about, because what

  127. happens is when the Holy Spirit gets a hold of

  128. our life. The Bible says that miracle, signs and wonders

  129. follow when you and I receive the power of God.

  130. In our life. But you and I we have to

  131. be open to it. God's not gonna force his way

  132. into your heart. God doesn't force his way into your day. Today,

  133. you and I have to say, God, my life is

  134. open for you to do with what you please. My

  135. heart is open. It's like the moment that you've ever

  136. been in, a moment of surrender. It's like, I'm not

  137. gonna fight anymore. If you're married before, hopefully if you've

  138. been married long enough, you've experienced surrender because there's been

  139. a type where you and your spouse have been in

  140. an argument, whether it be for three days, four days,

  141. five days, some of y'all five years, and someone at

  142. some point has to hit a moment of surrender that

  143. just goes, all right, I'm done fighting. I want to

  144. move forward. And every person when we're a first a

  145. foreigner from God, when we encounter the work of Jesus

  146. in our life and the Holy Spirit start knocking on

  147. your heart.

  148. You can fight it or you can surrender.

  149. You can either keep going against what God is trying

  150. to do in your life, where you could say, God,

  151. I'm done, I can't do it anymore, can't do it

  152. alone anymore. You know, just this past week, I was

  153. gone for like a week, and I was at a

  154. conference in Atlanta, and then I flew to Indiana and

  155. I spoke to two hundred senior pastors in Indiana, and

  156. then I flew from Indiana to Miami and I did

  157. something at a church in Miami, and so I was

  158. gone for over a week, and so I was on

  159. my way home, and normally me and my household with

  160. my wife, we we only let our boys have their

  161. like iPads on the weekend. So Monday through Friday, they're

  162. not allowed to use their iPads. I'm not saying that's

  163. a rule you should have. I'm just saying we're sick

  164. of those dumb things. So you know, like it's been

  165. a rule that we've had now for you know, four

  166. or five months, and so they only get it on

  167. Saturday and Sunday, and they.

  168. Got to earn it throughout the week.

  169. So but it happened that I was coming home on

  170. a Thursday, our boys were really excited, or maybe on

  171. a Wednesday. Our boys were really excited this past week.

  172. And so Ashley said, you know, they're you know, they're

  173. gonna keep bugging your mom, and you know when when

  174. is mom and dad home? When is mo? Because Ashley

  175. came in with me halfway through the trimp and so

  176. we both were gone, and so she said, I'm gonna

  177. just let them play on their iPads and until we

  178. get home, so that they're just not anxious. Okay, cool,

  179. no problem. So I noticed my son's online and I'm

  180. on the airplane. I'm an hour from landing, and I

  181. text my son. I want you to see what I said.

  182. I have a screenshot of it. I text my son this,

  183. I say, excited to see you soon. Chicky. That's my

  184. oldest is nickname, who's seven? He said yeah. I said,

  185. I'm excited. I love you and miss you. He said

  186. me too. I said, tell tommy boy, who's our youngest.

  187. I miss him. Why are you texting me so much?

  188. Hold on with a mad face emoji? No no, no, no,

  189. don't show that one yet. Don't show that one yet.

  190. Don't guys, don't show.

  191. So so I'm hurt.

  192. Like my wife we because we changed a flight. She

  193. wasn't sitting with me, so she was a few rows up.

  194. So I screenshot it and I send it to her

  195. and she starts laughing, and I was like, I don't

  196. think it's funny. This isn't funny, and so I'm like, sad,

  197. you know, And but then I assume, well, he doesn't.

  198. He hasn't really been getting his iPad. He's probably playing roadblocks,

  199. which means every time he has to text me, he

  200. has to leave the game. That's probably what he's frustrated about,

  201. which I get it, because if he logs out, it

  202. means he's got to go back in. He's got a

  203. load of new game, et cetera. I'm sure he just irritated.

  204. So then there's the follow up text, and I'm giving

  205. him the bene of the foult and I said, are

  206. you trying to play a game? He says, no exclamation

  207. Mas made one.

  208. I said, bro, why are you so mad?

  209. He left me on red for a little bit, and

  210. then he said, because I can't look at my Christmas songs.

  211. He was listening to Christmas songs. I went from sad

  212. to now angry because I'm like, wait, jingle bells just

  213. beating me out. I've been gone for eight days. I'm

  214. coming home. I'm excited. And he's like, Dad, I got

  215. Christmas songs. I'm set in the playlist. Man, leave me alone,

  216. and I was just like man. And then the Lord

  217. struck me in that moment, and he said, Adam, there

  218. are so many times with you and my people that

  219. I am trying to anticipate a moment. I'm trying to

  220. bring a visitation. I am trying to bring my presence.

  221. I'm trying to show myself to my people and my children,

  222. just like your son respond to me the same way. God,

  223. what do you do?

  224. I got things going on?

  225. Come on, got God, it was just Halloween. I just

  226. now now apparently I gotta take those decorations down and

  227. put Christmas decorations on November first. Apparently it's a thing.

  228. And God, I got I got stuff.

  229. Going on, and then we completely miss it.

  230. Because I'll tell you this, in that moment, I had

  231. a I was like, oh, okay, you know, me and Mathics,

  232. we're gonna text and we're gonna have this and we're

  233. and he's like, hey, stop bothering me. And guess what

  234. I did as a dad. I stopped bothering him. I said,

  235. I'm i'ma respect your space. That's what you want. And

  236. then I saw him later on how many times are

  237. we saying, God, I'm a hunger for your presence. God

  238. will see in a few most God, baptize me with

  239. your power, baptize me into the family, and we won't

  240. look up.

  241. We won't look up from our phones.

  242. We won't look up from Facebook, we won't look up

  243. from TikTok. We won't look up from our computer at work.

  244. It's just we're not We won't. We won't look up

  245. from the TV, whatever other distraction. It's not that God's

  246. not there, it's that we're not paying attention. We're not looking.

  247. God has never said, oh, I got my secrets and

  248. you gotta figure me out, and you gotta come this way. No, God,

  249. God is always there. He's always available, and the spirit

  250. of God is always ready to move. I want you

  251. to see in just a few moments when we look

  252. at three quick baptisms, the first baptisms that we see

  253. that God wants to do in our life is he

  254. wants to baptize you into the body of Christ.

  255. This is the work of salvation.

  256. And if you and I ever want to experience a

  257. revival in our life, that's a fresh move of God.

  258. The first thing that you and I must do is

  259. we must experience a personal revival. I found myself that

  260. way in my own faith. At time, I've looked at

  261. people and I've thought how much they needed God, how

  262. much they needed salvation, how much they needed rescuing, all

  263. while I'm drowning. It's so much easier for us to

  264. look on the outside and point at who needs all

  265. the redeeming and who needs all the saving, when at

  266. the end of the day, it's us the individual, and

  267. it's living in line of saying, God, before I ever

  268. claim that you would renew my household, that you would

  269. ever renew my region, renew a city, renew anywhere, would

  270. you first start with me. I need renewal. I need

  271. a fresh move of God. I need to be baptized

  272. by you God. I want to be baptized in the family.

  273. And this is the work of salvation that God has

  274. readily for all of us. One Corinthians twelve thirteen says,

  275. for in one spirit, we've all been baptized into one body.

  276. Jews are Greek slaver free. All were made to drink

  277. of One's spirit. We've all been invited to participate. Regardless

  278. of who you are, what your background is.

  279. There is nobody walking.

  280. This orth today that God has said they are excluded

  281. from the work of Jesus. Should they choose to receive,

  282. He said, if they choose to drink of salvation by

  283. the spirit, salvations for them. Coalations Chapter three, verse twenty

  284. seven says, for as many of you were baptized into

  285. Christ have put on Christ, you are all in one

  286. in Christ Jesus.

  287. You see what happens is in the Jewish days.

  288. So you know, if you read the New Testament enough,

  289. you'll see most of the time we connect baptism to

  290. either just wider baptism or like what we would say

  291. is a spiritual baptism, baptism of the Holy Spirit, where

  292. there's empowerment and miracle, signs, wonders, healings of prophecy, tongues,

  293. stuff like that. But then there's this baptism, which is

  294. the baptism into Christ.

  295. And this this is they all work coherently together.

  296. But this is the first step of baptism. You see,

  297. in Jesus's day, baptism wasn't uncommon. It was something that

  298. Jews did, if weekly, if not, some very regularly, and

  299. many monthly. What you would do is you would have

  300. what they called a mikvah, which their mikvah was what

  301. we would say is a modern day baptism.

  302. It just looked like that. And what it had to

  303. do is.

  304. It had to be connected with a stream of running water.

  305. So it couldn't be something that you fill up with

  306. a hose or anything like that. It had to be

  307. running water because what it represented was is it was

  308. that when you get in that water, the running water will.

  309. Take your sins downstream.

  310. And so, let's just say, a woman after her cycle

  311. in Jesus's day and even still to this day in Judaism,

  312. a woman after her cycle ends, they have to go

  313. and be baptized.

  314. So like when David saw.

  315. Bathsheva, the Bible specifically says she had ended her cycle

  316. and she was just trying to get baptized.

  317. She was just trying to do her ceremonial ritual of cleansing.

  318. And what happened was is before a wedding, when the

  319. couple wanted to go to the marriage bed, peer they

  320. went into the mikvah, and it was this idea that

  321. the water carried your impurities, carried your dirt, carried your

  322. shame downstream. But guess what a month later for a

  323. woman she had to do it again, and the next

  324. time you sinned or you committed some type of air,

  325. you had to do it again, and you had to

  326. do it again, and you had to do it again

  327. because as many times as you.

  328. Got dirty, you needed to get clean.

  329. But then what we just read is when you and

  330. I are baptized into Christ, what it means is it

  331. means that when Jesus's blood.

  332. Was shed on the cross and.

  333. He resurrected three days later, that the water of the

  334. spirit of God that you would be baptized in is

  335. no longer peer and you're impure, and you are no

  336. longer impure. It's a baptism that God has for you.

  337. That isn't a ritual that you got to do all

  338. the time. It's this thing that God says that when

  339. you and I believe in Christ, Jesus says, Lord and Savior,

  340. God says.

  341. This, they are pure.

  342. You've been baptized, You've been cleansed by the blood of Jesus,

  343. and it doesn't have to happen again. You ever met

  344. someone who goes to an alter call thirty times a year.

  345. I just want to make sure I'm fresh in case Jesus,

  346. in case I die or in case Jesus comes back.

  347. I want to get friend. I was a children's pastor.

  348. Every week there is twenty kids that always raise their

  349. hand at the alter call, right Pastor Garfield's here.

  350. It was our children's pastor for some years.

  351. There was always those set twenty kids that were like,

  352. I just want to be sure. Now we can laugh

  353. at that, and that's cute, and it's not really that

  354. wrong to respond to an alter call many times, but

  355. the reality is it just happens once. When you're baptized

  356. in the body of Christ. God doesn't say, oh, you

  357. got a little dirt.

  358. On you, you need to recommit your life to Christ.

  359. No, what you have to do from that point on

  360. is you have to repent, confess, and continue to follow Jesus.

  361. But God doesn't have a ledger.

  362. In heaven, and he's like, oh, Adam was clean until.

  363. Yesterday, and what he did yesterday.

  364. Now he's a little dirty. And so he has to

  365. wait till Sunday, till he goes to church, and he

  366. has to sing the right amount of worship songs and

  367. read the right And I say that some of you

  368. might say, well, it's so silly that people would do that.

  369. People do it all the time. We fall prey to

  370. that work's righteousness all the time. But there's only one

  371. work that's good enough to save you and I, and

  372. it's the work that you and I cannot do.

  373. It's the work that only Jesus can do.

  374. And so what happens is is God saves you and

  375. redeems you and baptizes you into His body. We're received

  376. and were accepted. But here's where we begin to get

  377. it wrong, especially kind of more in American Christianity, because

  378. what will happen is is we will get baptized into

  379. the body of Christ. And and and that's a that's

  380. not a physical that's not a literal baptism.

  381. Water baptism is a literal baptism.

  382. We just read it.

  383. It's a spiritual baptism.

  384. It's one whereby the spirit you and I are brought

  385. into the body of Christ, that we're saved. But a

  386. lot of times what happens.

  387. Is is we get saved, we get.

  388. In church for a while, and then what happens is,

  389. especially kind of more so in our American Christianity, we

  390. want faith to go easy. We we want this walk

  391. with God to be really easy from now on, and

  392. as a pastor, I hear it all the time. People

  393. come up to me and they say, Pastor Adam, I've

  394. given my life to Jesus. I go to church as

  395. often as I can. I started reason reading my Bible.

  396. Why do I still have the problems that I have?

  397. Or or why don't I have the thing that I've

  398. been asking for? Or why are why isn't my marriage fixed?

  399. And why why aren't my kids better? And and what

  400. happens is is what we want is we want the

  401. product and not the process. And so what we don't

  402. recognize is we got We came into faith with Jesus

  403. to receive something, and not just to receive something. It's

  404. it's to receive something material. It's to receive an answer

  405. to a to an earthly issue. Rather than understanding that God,

  406. when you and I have faith in Jesus, this is

  407. an eternal reward and he has promises in this life.

  408. But that's a process, that's something that we call sanctification.

  409. It means that God is gonna take you through a

  410. process that will make you and I look more and

  411. more like Jesus.

  412. But in today's age, we don't like that.

  413. We hate that as much as we hate self checkout.

  414. I want someone else to back my groceries. I want

  415. someone else to check me out. I don't want to

  416. do all that. Or you get there and be like,

  417. oh that little thing didn't scan.

  418. Oh well no it's solid.

  419. Let me just keep mo And what we do is

  420. we take our faith into that same space. And so

  421. what happens is is like, look I got I was

  422. having a peanuts not too long ago, and I thought

  423. to myself, this process is the worst. Yeah, like you

  424. ever like truly eat peanuts in the raw form? I mean,

  425. first of all, there's only two ever inside of it.

  426. Half the time, it's like a trick.

  427. You open it and there's only one, or you open

  428. it and both of them didn't even develop good enough,

  429. and so it's not even good. Or what happens is

  430. is one of my favorite fruits is like a pomegranate.

  431. Has anyone ever tried to prepare pomegranates? And you're pain

  432. My sister in law at Sina, she's Persian, and part

  433. of Persian New Years, you have to.

  434. Have buckets and buckets and buckets of.

  435. Pomegranates, and so, like her family will commonly have like

  436. parties where the whole job for hours is just to

  437. peel and take out pomegranates. And what happens is for me,

  438. what I what I would you know, rather prefer is

  439. you know, I just want to go.

  440. To the store.

  441. Man, I don't want to open up all those peanuts.

  442. I'm just gonna go buy some Jiffy. I don't I

  443. don't want to go deal with all that pop. I

  444. know it tastes better and there's more flavor and there's

  445. a but listen, it's the product I want.

  446. I just want some pomegranate juice.

  447. And a lot of times when we go to God,

  448. what we're trying to remove from God is the process

  449. that God's trying to do and develop in your life.

  450. We find ourselves going.

  451. God, I don't want to do forgiveness, love, self control, discipline.

  452. I didn't ask you about all that, God.

  453. What I asked you is, what's the quickest way to

  454. get some pomegranate juice? What's the quickest way to get

  455. some peanut butter? And you can't pay for this process,

  456. and you can't outsource this process.

  457. You can't say, oh well, I'm I'm gonna let my

  458. fouse do it for me.

  459. They're gonna go to church for us, They're gonna read

  460. their Bible for us. Or I'm gonna let my grandma

  461. do it. She's really spiritual. I'm gonna let her pray orma,

  462. I'm gonna let this happen to that. You can't outsource that.

  463. It's something you and I. You gotta develop in yourself.

  464. So I want to encourage you today that when you

  465. say yes to Jesus, you're starting a process. It's gonna

  466. be a process, and there's gonna be days that you

  467. feel like you're on the verge of getting some peanut butter.

  468. And there's gonna be days that you feel like you're

  469. getting crushed, and there's gonna be days that you feel

  470. like you're getting cut open. But don't quit because you're

  471. in the body, You're in God's family. And Roman says

  472. that if God is for you, then he'll be against you.

  473. And so when you have God on your side in

  474. the process, it may be difficult, but you will hear

  475. the upward call of God, and you will see the

  476. product of your faith one day and you will stand

  477. before God and you will inherit every blessing that God

  478. has for you. Here here's the second one, which is

  479. the one that we commonly know, is that we get

  480. baptized into water. So as you get baptized into salvation

  481. and baptized into the church, then you have water baptism.

  482. But here's what I love about water baptism.

  483. Not just water baptism, but the moments of salvation that

  484. follow water baptism, because what happens is what we were

  485. out to recognize when you and I exercise faith in

  486. Jesus and then we go and get water baptism and

  487. we start the process of our faith walking out in

  488. a daily basis. I just love this story in Acts,

  489. chapter six the Story of the Early Church of verse

  490. thirty one. I want you to see what it says.

  491. In Acts sixteen, verse thirty one to thirty four. It

  492. says this, and it's Peter speaking to a jailer, and

  493. and they said, believe in the Lord Jesus, and you

  494. will be saved in your household. And they spoke the

  495. word of the Lord to him and to all that

  496. were in his house. And he took them the same

  497. hour of the night and washed their wounds, and he

  498. baptized at once, he and all of his family. Then

  499. he brought them into his house and set food before them,

  500. and he rejoiced, along with his entire household, that he

  501. had believed in God. You see, when one life has changed,

  502. families begin to follow. Revival always disrupts a lineage. Old

  503. Testament talks about curses and talks about these things that

  504. are handed down family trees and family lines, and you

  505. will experience that. And maybe you have experienced that in

  506. your own life, that you've seen addiction in your family,

  507. unforgiveness in your family, hate in your family. And you're

  508. thinking to yourself, what can I do about this? I

  509. don't want this for my children, and I don't want this.

  510. For my children's children.

  511. What can I do? And here you see that a

  512. suggested answer by the spirit of God in Act sixteen

  513. says that if you would disrupt that moment and say

  514. yes to Jesus and start the process of baptism, start

  515. the process of publicly proclaiming to your household and your family.

  516. He says this, what will happen is is your yes.

  517. Your family will see it and they will follow say.

  518. Things will end in your.

  519. Family tree because of your yes, because of God's faithfulness

  520. in your life. Oftentimes, the greatest thing that you can

  521. do is a yes to God. It's just obedience. Pastor Adam,

  522. I need to what is the perfect thing I can

  523. say to this family member. What's the perfect thing? You

  524. can't say nothing to nobody if their will isn't there.

  525. But you can't say yes to God. You can't say

  526. they have a revival for yourself. Because we've seen in

  527. this Philippian jailer he said yes, and his family said yes.

  528. He got in the water and got baptized. And it

  529. says his family got in the water and got baptized.

  530. I see it all the time when we do water baptism.

  531. One family member gets baptized, and all of a sudden,

  532. an entire family and all of their clothes starts getting

  533. in the water.

  534. Because the spirit of God is active in those moments.

  535. I love what one of the early church fathers, Gregory Nissa, says.

  536. He says, under Moses, the people pass through the sea,

  537. the red Sea. Under Christ, the sea passes through the people.

  538. That's the difference between what happens in the Old Testament

  539. and the New Testament. In the Old Testament, you see

  540. Israel's obedience by themselves. In the New Testament, you see

  541. obedience powered by God that flows through you, not around you.

  542. And when we get baptized in water, what we're doing

  543. is we're proclaiming to other people that, in the same

  544. way that Jesus Christ died for my sins and he

  545. rose from the grave, so too do I do. I

  546. go in the water one person, and I come out

  547. of the water, signifying a new creation. The Old Testament

  548. says that it's a picture of saying that God has

  549. taken your heart of stone, and He's given you a

  550. heart of flesh, and that's something that God will do.

  551. Matthew Henry says, when God saves a soul, he rarely

  552. stops with one. The light that enters one heart soon

  553. shines throughout the entire household. That's what happens. When you

  554. and I walk exteriorly into the obedience of God. What

  555. will often happen is you're breaking a cycle. You're declaring

  556. that what ran in your family ends here, and what

  557. begins in you will bless generations after you. That's what

  558. the baptism of God will do. Jonathan Edwards said, the

  559. gospel runs in families, when it truly runs in hearts.

  560. You want to change an environment change the heart. How

  561. can you change your heart? Only by the power of

  562. the spirit, only by the work of Jesus. That's how

  563. you change a heart. And it's a faith action that

  564. says God, I surrender Jesus, I'm yours, This family's yours,

  565. My life is yours, this body is yours, this mind

  566. is yours, my soul is yours. It's receiving Christ into

  567. all areas of our life. And here's the last point.

  568. Is this as we begin to close in a few moments,

  569. is not only do we get baptized in the body

  570. of Christ, not only do we see water baptism, but lastly,

  571. we see baptism in the.

  572. Holy Spirit in the Bible. And this is what happens.

  573. Is when we can be baptized in the Holy Spirit,

  574. you will see revivals spread throughout the entire Body of Christ,

  575. through entire regions, entire people groups.

  576. I love it Acts Chapter two and if you want

  577. to study.

  578. It more on your own, this is the moment that

  579. the Holy Spirit descends upon the Church. But I just

  580. want to give you an accurate picture before we close

  581. in a few moments of what has happened. But what

  582. has happened is Jesus has twelve disciples. One of the disciples, Judas,

  583. turns on Jesus. He ends up having so much guilt

  584. because he was just trying to get a payday. He

  585. didn't think that they were gonna crucify Jesus. He has

  586. so much guilt. He goes and he hangs himself out

  587. of his guilt. So now there's eleven disciples. When Jesus

  588. died on the cross and he was put in the tomb,

  589. every disciple just totally gave up on the gospel message

  590. of the Kingdom of God. None of them were like, well,

  591. Jesus's message was bigger than this moment.

  592. Let's in his honor, Let's continue to preach the gospel.

  593. Let's continue to talk about the Kingdom of Heaven. Nope.

  594. Peter his main right hand guy, he was like, people

  595. were like, hey, aren't you with Jesus, And he started

  596. in the original Aramaic, in the original Arabic and Greek,

  597. he starts cussing.

  598. He's like, absolutely not. I don't know Jesus. I'm not

  599. one of his. So he completely rejects.

  600. Jesus just because he doesn't want his future to be

  601. what Jesus's future was, and then what happens is it

  602. they all walk away. Jesus resurrects three days later, and

  603. now Jesus spends forty days with his disciples, preparing them,

  604. and then he ascends to the right hand of the Father.

  605. But even in this moment, there's still only one hundred

  606. and twenty people in Jerusalem who have enough faith that

  607. God might still do something incredible. I mean, you're talking

  608. about Jesus flipped an entire region upside down, an entire

  609. country upside down, and forty days after his reserve, forty

  610. days after his resurrection, people are just like, yeah, no, yeah,

  611. it was a cool hype when he was preaching. Yeah,

  612. he healed people. That was fun to see that. That

  613. was really cool. He walked on water yet one time. Yeah,

  614. that was pretty cool.

  615. You know, I can't explain that that was awesome, but

  616. I I don't know.

  617. They just and now what happens in Acts chapter two,

  618. it's called the Day of Pentecost.

  619. You take these eleven teenagers, because that's what they were.

  620. Jesus didn't choose men their thirties or anythings like that.

  621. Peter was the oldest. He was probably in his early twenties.

  622. All the rest were in their teens, so we had teenagers.

  623. And now one hundred and twenty people are in a room,

  624. and here's what happens acts Chapter two. Whe's one of four.

  625. You can read all of it on your own, but

  626. here's a summation of it. It says, when that day of

  627. Pentecost arrived, they were together in one place, and suddenly

  628. there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind,

  629. and they.

  630. Were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

  631. And they say that it was like a fire that

  632. rained down on them, and they began. It was during

  633. the Pentecost season, so that means there were Jews from

  634. all over the known world. There Jews who spoke all

  635. types of languages.

  636. And they run outside and every.

  637. Person they can come in contact with, they are empowered

  638. to preach the gospel. They go from forty days prior

  639. being cowards, being scared, being afraid, doubting God, doubting Jesus,

  640. to now the Holy Spirit baptizes them, the Holy Spirit

  641. covers them, and now they're bold as lions. Now they

  642. have no issue with whatever the result will be for

  643. preaching this gospel. Everyone starts going. Man, these guys must

  644. be drunk. These guys must be insane, because we know

  645. some of these guys. These guys were timid little boys

  646. one month ago. Now now they're teenagers boldly telling everyone

  647. to believe in the Kingdom of God.

  648. Who are these kids?

  649. They were baptized by the Holy Spirit. They were empowered

  650. by the spirit of God. Leonard raven Hill says it

  651. like this, Pentecosta was not a one time event.

  652. It was the opening of a heavenly fountain that has

  653. never been shut since.

  654. That day when the Holy Spirit descended on the church.

  655. It has been a light that has flicked on and

  656. it's never shut off.

  657. It's never turned off.

  658. And you and I have access to that well any

  659. day of the week. You have access to that well.

  660. For power, you have access to that well. For hope,

  661. you have access to that well. For faith. You have

  662. access to that well for joy, for peace, for compassion,

  663. for love. God has made through the Spirit of God,

  664. that well available. I did some research in the Book

  665. of Revelation. There's seven churches in Revelation. One of the

  666. cities is a city in Turkey called Smyrna. I did

  667. some research wondering what is the longest surviving fountain that

  668. has never stopped running water. And apparently there's been a

  669. fountain in Turkey, specifically in Smyrna that has been running

  670. for two thousand and seven hundred years.

  671. There's been running water through it.

  672. I have a picture of it in its ruins that

  673. could or should be on the screen, so that's what

  674. it looks like. And then I have a second picture.

  675. This is what it would have looked like in its prime.

  676. So you'll see water at the bottom of that in

  677. the architeus. But this is what it would have looked

  678. like in its prime. And you can go back to

  679. the photo. That's the architecture of it. And it still

  680. stands today and you can still see a water puddle

  681. at the bottom. It's still running water for two thousand

  682. and seven hundred years, that has been an active fountain.

  683. I don't know about you, but I want my faith

  684. to live on way longer than I'm here on this earth.

  685. I want my faith in Jesus. I want the spirit

  686. of God that has used me in my life. I

  687. want it to extend a lot further than me. I

  688. don't want it to stop with me. I don't want

  689. it to stop with a moment I had with God

  690. in the nineties, or the two thousands, or the two

  691. thousands and tens, or even the twentyds and twenties. I

  692. want God every single day to bring a fresh anointing

  693. into my life. And that's my prayer for your life,

  694. that the baptism of the Spirit of God, as God

  695. has redeemed you and given you that on salvation. Every

  696. single day though you can have a fresh baptism of

  697. the goodness of God in your life. You can have

  698. a fresh baptism of God's anointing. You see Jesus baptized

  699. as the believer in spirit for powerness and unity. The

  700. early Church wasn't born through structure. It was born through

  701. the spirit. When the Holy Spirit feels people, the church

  702. stops being an organization and we become a movement. It's

  703. only by the Spirit of God that we can actually

  704. see God make an impact. It's only through the Spirit

  705. of God that we can see God moved. And as

  706. we begin to close, Revival filled people to create, and

  707. Revival was created to fill the churches. And when you

  708. and I are full of the spirit, your house has

  709. become full of revival. And when your house is full

  710. of revival. Your city begins to feel Heaven's rhythms. But

  711. it starts with you, and it starts with me to say, God,

  712. have I received your work into my life? Have I

  713. stepped into a moment. There's three things I want to

  714. invite you. Tomorrow we have baptisms and so have you

  715. never been water baptized? You want to be water baptized.

  716. Come back tomorrow for nine or eleven A m service

  717. will get you a change of clothes. We'll get you

  718. a shirt to get baptized in. But as I close,

  719. I just want to encourage you with this. Maybe you're

  720. here today and you've never been baptized into the body

  721. of Christ. In other words, you've never received Jesus as

  722. your savior. I want to make that invitation to you today,

  723. but also for those that may be here in the

  724. church today and you've never experienced the baptism the Holy

  725. Spirit in terms of a move, like when you are saved,

  726. you know that the Holy Spirit sealed you and the

  727. Holy Spirit redeemed you. But what happens is when you

  728. and I experience a move of the Holy Spirit. It's

  729. something that what happens is, though it cannot be contained

  730. the empowerment of God becomes so overwhelming in your life

  731. that it just starts to break things, starts to empower

  732. you in areas that you know you are weak for.

  733. Romans Chapter eight just says it beautifully. What happens is

  734. when you and I are powered by the Holy Spirit.

  735. It means the Holy Spirit speaks with groanings that you

  736. and I don't even understand. And that may be with

  737. praying with a heavenly language. That may be seeing God

  738. heals someone and delivers some that may seek be God answering,

  739. a prayer, a.

  740. Boldness that you've been asking for, whatever it is.

  741. The baptism, the Holy Spirit, God empowers you to do

  742. things that no human could ever do.

  743. Like people that would know you would go, I.

  744. Know that's not you, because I've been around you so

  745. many times. You and I maybe you've experienced a compliment before,

  746. but you know it was God in you. And you're like,

  747. I can't take any credit for that because I know

  748. what Adam would have done, and Adam would not have

  749. said what I just said. Adam wouldn't have prayed the

  750. way I just prayed. That was all the spirit of God.

  751. Maybe you're here today and you're just saying God, I

  752. just want a fresh move of your spirit in my life.

  753. I want I want to be empowered with a boldness today.

  754. So would you join me for just a moment. Would

  755. you bow your heads and close your eyes. I just

  756. want to pray over you as we close here in

  757. a matter of moments. If you're here today, first I'll

  758. just ask you. If you're praying and you're saying God,

  759. I will love a fresh baptism of your spirit.

  760. I want to be.

  761. Empowered by you. I feel that my fountain has run dry.

  762. I feel like the sand beneath my feet has gone barren.

  763. And I want to be like that fountain in Turkey

  764. and in Spyrna. I want to be continually pouring. I

  765. want to continually be overflowing with your goodness and mercy.

  766. I want to overflow with the anointing in the spirit

  767. of God. If you're here today and you're saying I

  768. need to believe for more empowerment of the spirit, would

  769. you raise your hand in this moment so that I

  770. could pray for you. I just want to pray over

  771. your life. I see those saying Lord, I just pray

  772. right now, Father God, that for those that are believing

  773. for more empowerment from you, God God, I know that

  774. you are faithful and just to give what it is

  775. that we ask for according to your will. So, Lord,

  776. as we ask you for a fresh pouring out, Lord,

  777. fresh manna from heaven. Father God, I pray that our

  778. cup does not run dry. Father God, I pray that

  779. the Holy Spirit would dwell in the hearts and lives

  780. of your children today.

  781. Father God, I pray that.

  782. Our oil would overflow, Lord, that everything that we would

  783. need God would not be barren or dry, but it

  784. would be full of life and life abundantly.

  785. Lord.

  786. We pray, Father God, for the fullness of your goodness

  787. and mercy in our life. Lord, I pray that as

  788. every person would leave this building and leave this room,

  789. that their thoughts would not be their thoughts, but it

  790. would be full of Your thoughts, Father God, that their

  791. strength would not be their own strength, but it would

  792. be the strength of God in their life. Father God,

  793. I pray Lord that they would be empowered to say,

  794. do and experience things by Your spirit like they never

  795. understood where they were capable of they never thought was possible.

  796. Father God, I pray Lord that you would somewhat freak

  797. us out. God, show yourself to us. Lord, make us

  798. feel uncomfortable. Lord, there's no way today if we stood

  799. in heaven with sometimes the lives that we're living, that we.

  800. Would be comfortable in heaven.

  801. Because God, when you're moving, there are things that take

  802. us out of our comfort zone. Father God, So I

  803. pray Lord, you would take us out of our co

  804. refine us.

  805. God, refine us.

  806. Lord, so that we could see your goodness and mercy

  807. in our life. Lord. May we be a light on

  808. a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Lord, And I pray

  809. the Holy Spirit would empower every person right now. If

  810. you're in this place, and you're here and you want

  811. to receive Jesus as your Lord and savior, I'm gonna

  812. ask you, would you just slip your hand up in

  813. the air. I already shared about His goodness and mercy.

  814. I want to pray over you if you're ready to

  815. give your life to Christ and you're ready to say, God,

  816. I surrender and I give you all of me, and

  817. you're ready to believe in the mercy of Jesus, the death, burial,

  818. resurrection of Gee. I see those hands. Would you repeat

  819. after me? Dear Lord Jesus. In this moment, I confess

  820. you as my Lord and my Savior. I believe in

  821. my heart that you died on the cross Jesus for

  822. my sins and resurrected in victory. From this moment forward,

  823. I choose to follow you for the rest of my

  824. days in Jesus' name. Amen. Can we celebrate those that

  825. join the Family of God today? Praise God. If you

  826. want to be water baptized tomorrow, come back tomorrow. We
