  1. Adventist Radio London inspiration for the song.

  2. How Many Want More? I said, how many want more?

  3. How many want more?

  4. How many? Because you will just join me?

  5. Would you just stand to your feet right now as

  6. we just go into prayer, Oh Father God, there is

  7. nothing like the presence of the Lord.

  8. And your word says if two or three are gathered

  9. together in your name, that you're in the midst We

  10. know that, but we can also feel and sense your presence.

  11. As we see our brothers and sisters who are worshiping

  12. with their hands lifted, we know that you're here. As

  13. we see tears streaming down faces, we know that the

  14. presence of the Lord is here. As we look at

  15. the faces in this congregation who don't look like what

  16. they've been through, we know that the presence of the

  17. Lord is here. And Father, we are not talking about

  18. God's presence being inside a room. We are talking about

  19. God's presence being inside of us. So I don't know

  20. if I have a witness here today, but there's anybody

  21. glad to know that He is with you.

  22. Just lit your hands and just begin to blessing.

  23. Thank you Lord, that you will never leave us. You

  24. will never leave us. You will never leave us. You

  25. will never leave.

  26. Us, never leave us, never leave us, nor forsake us.

  27. And if you don't do another thing, you have already

  28. done enough.

  29. So with hearts full of praise, with our hands lifted

  30. towards heaven, we just simply say, Lord, have your way,

  31. have your way, have your way, have your way, have

  32. your way. Lord, and speak Lord over and through your

  33. manservant and to your people and back to your man's servant.

  34. Then Holy Ghost, just take over, take over, take over,

  35. take over, Lord God, and we will be careful to

  36. give you the praise, theanom, the glory and Jesus name.

  37. We pray. Amen.

  38. Before you're are SDD, why don't you just give somebody

  39. a big hug and say that's how God feels.

  40. It's a mountain. She will come on, said what God

  41. feels about you? Yes, I hug somebody.

  42. And if you still, if you still in the COVID mindset,

  43. just reach out and give him, you know what I'm saying,

  44. a virtual.

  45. Hug in the name of Jesus. Amen.

  46. Hey, man, let's put our hands together for the worship

  47. that we have had today. And Man, God bless your brother,

  48. be looking at every thinking that you didn't want to

  49. forget about the preacher. I praise God for that. Somebody

  50. shout hallelujah. Come on, shinlo, somebody shout hallelujah. Somebody shall

  51. praise the Lord. Now put your hands together, and they've

  52. God pray. What a blessing, What a blessing to be

  53. here full disclosure. I was not supposed to be preaching today,

  54. but I'm in a preaching mood, and uh, I.

  55. Reached out to the pastor.

  56. I don't I don't know, so I mean fulltis full transparency.

  57. I know preachers that have done this, and I've made

  58. fun of them. Pastor Boston, the preachers that they come

  59. in town. You know, when I was pastoring, they would

  60. come in town and say, hey, pastor, I'm in town.

  61. And you know, if you, uh, if you, if you're.

  62. Not doing anything, I don't mind serving. And I used

  63. to always laugh at those preachers because I would be like, man, I've.

  64. Got a word. I mean, you're gonna have to sit

  65. and get this word. Uh. And I know your pastor

  66. has a word. He always has a word. Come on,

  67. say amen.

  68. And you know I stepped out of side of my

  69. normal comfort zone.

  70. Carla, and I reached out to the pastor.

  71. You know, I felt some type of way, I said,

  72. but I said, you know, I'm in town, you know, and.

  73. The man of guy said, come on, come on to

  74. come on and.

  75. Sir, and that's how we got here today.

  76. Amen.

  77. I've got to tell you how much respect and love

  78. have not only for you know, and I'm clear on this.

  79. I'm a second generation pastor. There's no way in the

  80. world I will honor the Man of God and not

  81. honor the team that is Pastor John Boston and his

  82. lovely wife Carla and their lovely daughter Riley.

  83. Come on, say.

  84. Amen, anytime you are leading negroes, you can't do it

  85. by yourself. Come on say amen, amen, somebody well, at

  86. least it helps.

  87. Not to do it by yourself. Amen. It keeps you

  88. from losing your mind. Amen.

  89. And to be honest, brothers and sisters. And I say

  90. this in full transparency and honesty. We've been watching from

  91. afar what God has been doing here in Chicago, and

  92. so much of what is talked about in Chicago when

  93. you're an outsider is the violence and the crime.

  94. Y'all.

  95. Y'all know that, y'all, y'all know how folks are, But

  96. we know good and well that the Holy Ghost is

  97. working here in Chicago.

  98. That was a week.

  99. Amen, I said, the Holy Ghost is working here in

  100. Chicago because God's people are here.

  101. What you say, a man, and I can't.

  102. I can't see it any more clearer in the leadership

  103. of this pastor and what's happened, the transformation that has

  104. happened not only in this building, but in the mission

  105. and ministry of this church. As I pulled up here today,

  106. and I don't see this very often. I get to

  107. travel a lot. Most of the time we come to

  108. church and it's just us coming to church. Get a

  109. good fix, you know what I'm saying, get our word,

  110. go home and do it all over again. But I

  111. was blessed when I came up. I noticed that in

  112. the school there was some activity going on, and I

  113. saw folks going in and out of there that looked

  114. like they wasn't coming in here for church, but they were.

  115. Coming to be fed.

  116. And I'm not just our most spiritual food, but spiritual

  117. and physical food.

  118. What you say, amen, how many know that's the work

  119. of the church. How many know that?

  120. How many know that that church is a verb and

  121. not just a Now, church is not something that you have.

  122. Church is something that you are. Are y'all not talking

  123. to me? Will we talk to me in here? Amen?

  124. Church is something church. Church.

  125. Church is supposed to be a movement activity. And God's

  126. spirit wants to dwell in all of his people. God

  127. wants to use all of y'all in here. Come on,

  128. say amen. And I think we as pastors. I know

  129. your pastor is not guilty of there's but we as

  130. pastors have almost given you the impression that a ministry

  131. can only take place up here, and everybody wants to

  132. fight to get up here.

  133. But this ain't even where the real ministry takes place. Amen.

  134. How many no ministry takes place out there and then here?

  135. And so I think you all need y'all need to

  136. be proud of what God is stirring up here at Chicago, Shiloh.

  137. I'm serious, man, we are. We're just very proud of

  138. the work that you're doing here. The Man of God

  139. is here as a volunteer. That's how you know us.

  140. Love. Now one of y'all out here would be doing

  141. you'll job on a volunteer basis. Come on saying amen.

  142. They got to pay me. Come on, say amen. But

  143. this Man of God loves the work.

  144. As a matter of fact, when we were back in

  145. the office, the only thing that John was talking about

  146. the whole time. Y'all forgive me for calling that, but

  147. it's my friend. The only thing that he was talking

  148. about is this community and how we gonna and how

  149. we're gonna help folk, and how we're gonna stop human

  150. trafficking of black and brown bodies, and how we're gonna

  151. stop black men from killing themselves. I mean, this is

  152. this is somebody who cares. Good to see he says.

  153. If this is somebody who cares to see you, brother,

  154. this good. Somebody cares about.

  155. People, and not just people but black people. Amen. Y'all

  156. gonna need somebody to care because.

  157. In January it's over, So you better start caring for yourselves.

  158. Come on, say amen.

  159. An old friend of our, Steve Ruff, used to say,

  160. what do you get when you take the l off

  161. of lover? It's over, baby, it's over. You're gonna have

  162. to start taking care of yourself. Good to see you, brother, Amen?

  163. Amen? Somebody amen, amen amen. So we just put our

  164. hands together for the Man of.

  165. God and for his church and for all the staff

  166. and for what God is doing here. There is a

  167. word from the Lord today and that's why I'm here,

  168. and I want to get to it.

  169. Would you say? Amen?

  170. And it ain't gonna take me long today unless unless

  171. y'all get happy. I plan on just doing what the

  172. Lord told me to do. And the other reason.

  173. Why is my app iPad only got thirty percent less

  174. on it.

  175. So hey, listen, it's just gonna be coming off the dome.

  176. I thought I had charged it, but I guess it

  177. wasn't charging. All right, but we're just gonna go with

  178. the Lord today. Amen, and praise God. We got the timer.

  179. The timer is right there in my face.

  180. Amen. We got forty one minutes in counting. Praise God. Amen.

  181. All right, go with me to the Book of Matthew.

  182. What did I say?

  183. Everybody? Let's go to the Book of Matthew. Let's go on,

  184. get into this. I want to shout out my brother

  185. he's here today. I'm not sure if he came in yet.

  186. My brother Ed lives here in Chicago. Where'd you d

  187. is Ed? Where's my brother Ed? Oh he's up in

  188. the balcony. Y'all show some love to my brother. He

  189. lives here in the city, and we're just glad he's here. Oh,

  190. I forgot to tell y'all. So the reason why I'm

  191. in Chicago's I'm going to Monday Line. Y'all know where

  192. that is. Yeah, I got to go all the way

  193. up to Monday Line for a retreat. And it's a

  194. retreat of silence. It's a prayer retreat. And I do

  195. this quarterly, and I go up them on the line

  196. and we spend at least twelve of twelve hours after

  197. the two days in silence. And man, I have never

  198. you know, even when we eaten, we got to be silent. Now,

  199. you know Black people struggle with that. I'm under great temptation,

  200. but I'm telling you, man, just being still in the

  201. presence of God. I'd never experienced it before. I hear

  202. God's voice so clearly. And so by the time I

  203. come up out of here, I might need to come

  204. back because that's what I'm really gonna have a holy ghost.

  205. Woo.

  206. Man, the Lord has spoken to me in so many

  207. different ways in silence, and some it would do us

  208. well for many of us just to shut up sometimes

  209. and let God talk.

  210. Amen. Matthew Chapter one in verse.

  211. We're gonna look at verse eighteen, and I just want

  212. to read these verses, and you're hearing from the English

  213. Standard version of the Bible. Let's go ahead and get

  214. in this thing. English Standard verse the Bible, very familiar

  215. passive scripture. We're in the advent season, and so the

  216. Lord has led me to this verse. Now, the birth

  217. of Jesus Christ took place in this way when his

  218. mother Mary had been betrothed. We don't even use that

  219. word anymore. Amen betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together.

  220. She was found to be with child from the Holy

  221. Ghost verse nineteen, and her husband, Joseph, being a just man,

  222. unwilling to put her to shame, what did he do?

  223. He said, I could kill her. I could have her stoned.

  224. Was that not the custom in that day? Because didn't

  225. nobody get this, I'm pregnant and the daddy is the

  226. Holy Ghost? They they did that stuff didn't make sense

  227. to anybody, And so the appearances of this would say

  228. to him she should be punished under the law. But

  229. the Bible says he was a just man. And he says,

  230. I'm still gonna leave her. He says, I'm just gonna

  231. do it quietly, and the word of God's are y'all

  232. with me this morning? And the Word of God says

  233. in verse twenty. But as he considered these things, behold

  234. an angel of the Lord. The Lord God had to

  235. send an angel to get this man to change his mind.

  236. An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph,

  237. son of David, do not fear to take Mary as

  238. your wife, for what is conceived in her is from

  239. the Holy Ghost. Verse twenty one. She will bear a son,

  240. and you shall come on. Everybody shall call his name

  241. what Jesus?

  242. Why?

  243. For he will save his people from their sins.

  244. And all of this took place.

  245. To fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet,

  246. and the Bible says, behold, here's the Obviously, the virgin

  247. shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call

  248. his name Emmanuel, which means come on, say it with me, everybody,

  249. God with us Verse twenty four and twenty five of

  250. our last verse. When Joseph woke up from sleep, he

  251. did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.

  252. He took his wife.

  253. Watch this now, he says, But he did not know

  254. her until she had given birth to a son, and

  255. they called his name. Whether they call his name, they

  256. called his name Jesus. I want to share, just for

  257. a few moments, under the subject.

  258. Worse than Pagan, Worse than Pagan.

  259. Now, I come from a family of talkers and debaters.

  260. If you can not Thanksgiving or to our Christmas gatherings

  261. were debating politics, with debating who is the goat Lebron

  262. or that other guy who played his somewhere politics, And

  263. that almost got me in trouble early on in my

  264. marriage pastor because I like to argue, I like to debate.

  265. My wife doesn't come from that kind of family. And

  266. I remember very vividly we had gotten to a real

  267. while I was arguing, and she was silent, and I

  268. think my wife seriously had made up her mind that

  269. she was done with the marriage, because how many know

  270. would Sometimes you get married and it don't matter how

  271. much preparation you do, there's always surprises.

  272. Come on, say a man, Sometimes you see.

  273. Some stuff and you're just not sure if you can

  274. do a lifetime with this. So y'all just praise God

  275. that my wife was watching right now decided.

  276. To show me mercy and grace.

  277. Come on say, man, but I mean, but I like

  278. to debate, I like to argue, I like to talk

  279. obviously right, And I have a tendency, especially during the

  280. holiday season, to get into these debates, eats, you know,

  281. with folks who I feel are silly on Facebook, y'all

  282. pray for me. Sometimes I try, Hey can I get

  283. a witness in here? Sometimes you see somebody say something

  284. silly and you say, now, do I really want to

  285. get involved in this today, because you know, you mess

  286. around and it could take up the whole day. You're

  287. going back and forth with people, especially during political.

  288. Seasons and things of that nature.

  289. And I'm just trying to show demonstrate self control. But

  290. almost annually around this time, somebody is going to share

  291. something or post something.

  292. About why we ought not celebrate.

  293. Christmas because Christmas in their minds is pagan and God's people,

  294. Christian people, Bible believing people ought not have anything to

  295. do with things that are our pagan The problem with

  296. this notion, and I want to suggest here I don't

  297. have a burden one way or the other. If you

  298. want to put up trees, if you want to celebrate,

  299. if you want to have point setters, if some of

  300. y'all got read on today.

  301. Praise God for you.

  302. Like I mean, I have no burden to try to

  303. persuade somebody one way or the other.

  304. What I do have a burden for is.

  305. That we are biblical in our understanding and that we

  306. make proper application to what we feel biblical principles are.

  307. In other words, I just feel like, if we're going

  308. to be Bible people, then we need to be Bible people,

  309. but we need to function under principles that make sense.

  310. I'm a common sense type of person, and some of

  311. the things that we do just don't make sense. And

  312. I feel like this argument about Christmas to me doesn't

  313. make sense.

  314. Now, if this offends you, don't worry.

  315. I got some other stuff in the sermon that will

  316. that will bless you. Come on, say amen, but I'm

  317. going somewhere today. Somebody shall he going somewhere?

  318. Okay?

  319. So so so so so. There was this common argumentative

  320. strategy called the genetic fallacy. I'm just gonna get deep

  321. for a few seconds. The genetic fallacy and the genetic

  322. fallacy since essentially is this. It's when people try to

  323. dismiss an idea, a person, a thing, or anything of

  324. that nature based upon its origin. In other words, if

  325. if its origin is bad, then nothing can be good

  326. in its future and so so so that's kind of

  327. what happens with these arguments that you have with people

  328. in religious circles.

  329. They say, Hey, Christmas, it's pagan.

  330. It came from uh, you know, Satanic rituals, and it

  331. came from uh, the worship of mythological gods. So how

  332. can we as believers get ourselves wrapped up in something

  333. that has its origins? Have y'all heard this before? In

  334. something that is pagan? Now I'm going somewhere today, all right.

  335. The problem with that argument is is we only only

  336. do that with subjects like this.

  337. We do that to people.

  338. Folks will say, well, they from Chicago, and so there's

  339. a certain kind of labeling that we do when things

  340. happen like that. Or people maybe I don't know if

  341. you drive a Volkswagon, but the Volkswagon at one time

  342. was owned by the Nazis, So some folks will say

  343. you shouldn't drive a Volkswagon because Volkswagons.

  344. Were owned by the Nazis these kinds of things, or or.

  345. Don't trust black people, can't trust them if they're from

  346. this neighborhood, or if they come from this family, because

  347. if they came from this person, come on, don't we

  348. do that? Then we begin to lump them up and

  349. assign them to all the guilt that comes with this.

  350. That what that is called. It's called the genetic fallacy.

  351. In other words, you.

  352. Cannot necessive, necessarily say that just because my ori gins

  353. were bad or were evil, that my ending will be

  354. the same.

  355. Does that make sense, y'all? Now The reason.

  356. Why I need you to hear this is because part

  357. of the problem with this is that I know something

  358. worse than pagan. See the word pagan, if they really

  359. knew the origin simply means from the country. See back

  360. in the day, the Catholic Church, when it took over Christianity,

  361. would call people who were from the hood pagan. These

  362. were poor people, these were people who were uneducated, These

  363. were people who.

  364. Were undocumented, These were.

  365. People who did not who were marginalized, and so they

  366. called them pagan. That word now as an association with evil,

  367. But that's not what pagan means.

  368. Pagan just means that these are regular people. But we

  369. have turned into a pejorative term.

  370. That essentially, if you put the label pagan on something.

  371. Then you got certain Christians that feel like it shouldn't

  372. be done.

  373. But the clothes you got on a pagan. The necktie

  374. I'm wearing is pagan. Oh, y'all don't want to talk

  375. in here.

  376. I mean we literally, I mean these buildings, the way

  377. these church buildings are made are pagan. So I just

  378. want you to start thinking for a minute, because it's

  379. amazing to me how we get into these debates and

  380. these arguments. And when we consider the birth of Christ,

  381. the birth of Christ is more disturbing than Christmas. We

  382. are disturbed, and we try to do everything we can

  383. as believers to keep.

  384. Holy over here and unholy over here.

  385. We have this notion that there should be sacred and

  386. there should be secular. And if you think like that,

  387. that means you've experienced bad teaching. Because, as I said, honey,

  388. my Bible, Jesus and the presence of God has never

  389. attempted to separate itself from evil. The whole point of

  390. the gospel is that God is trying to get in

  391. bad places and spaces.

  392. The whole point of the.

  393. Gospel is that God is not just looking for pagan

  394. God is looking.

  395. For wicked.

  396. It wasn't in Christ that as soon as he planted

  397. himself and began his ministry was casting out devils were

  398. hanging with prostitutes and sinners. Look at the apostles, Name

  399. me one good apostle.

  400. Look at the patriarchs, Show.

  401. Me one good man, Moses, Noah, Abraham. See our prom

  402. as believers, is we, especially church avenus, folks, we are

  403. always trying to protect Jesus from stuff that Jesus ain't

  404. trying to be protected from. Jesus has no interests in

  405. being separated from wickedness. He's trying to get near wickedness.

  406. He's trying to get close to evil. He's trying to

  407. get close to mess. He's trying to get close to trauma.

  408. He's trying to get close to them. Why y'all, y'all

  409. quiet in here? You ought to be shouting, Because if

  410. Jesus we're trying to separate himself from pagan and from

  411. evil and from wickedness, then that means nobody in here

  412. has a chance. See, for some of us, we have

  413. this need of protecting purity and the reputation of God

  414. from stuff that God ain't trying to separate himself from.

  415. I love to hear people debate about music and saying, well,

  416. I heard this song he was playing sound like a

  417. song I used to sing in the club back in

  418. the day. There's no such thing as spiritual music. There

  419. are spiritual people who sing. I'm gonna have to lose

  420. some of y'all right now. So what if I'm an

  421. unholy vessel that's standing up here preaching God's word. Oh,

  422. just because I'm preaching God's word, it's okay, But what

  423. if I'm not right? See, let me mess with your

  424. mind for a little bit. Some of y'all think you're

  425. okay because on Sabbath you're holy.

  426. But what you're doing, what you're.

  427. Doing the rest of them six days out of the week.

  428. And what it does is it teaches us.

  429. It teaches us.

  430. To have these compartmentalized lives where we can be spiritual

  431. right here, and then we can be cardinal right here.

  432. And it doesn't mean anything. But let me tell you something.

  433. God is trying to get all up in all of your.

  434. Life, all of it. He wants to get in the mess.

  435. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. He is not afraid of my issues.

  436. He's not afraid of my failures. He's not afraid of

  437. my past. He's not afraid of the skeletons in my closet.

  438. He's not afraid of drug addicts and drug dealers, said prostitutes.

  439. He's not afraid of gays and Lesbethians.

  440. He's not afraid you are. And the whole point of

  441. the gospel, I'm almost done. The whole point of a

  442. gospel is God trying to get in my mass.

  443. You know what's more disturbing for some of you because

  444. I got no issues.

  445. I don't care. I don't care y'all.

  446. I mean, y'all disturbed about Easter bunnies, and disturbed about

  447. Christmas tree, and disturbed about this. And then some of

  448. y'all want keep the feat days and some of y'all

  449. want to do this, and some of y'all listen to this,

  450. and some of y'all listen to that.

  451. But then some of y'all will listen to.

  452. Gospel, and then well, you know what I'm saying, You

  453. got yourself, come out listen, y'all.

  454. Y'all think God cares. He really don't care about that stuff.

  455. Because her he trying to get into all the people.

  456. That's doing that stuff in the first place. And listen,

  457. that is more disturbing than your Christmas tree.

  458. Come blow your.

  459. Minds real quick and let me get out of here.

  460. This blew my mind. You know what's crazy. The whole incarnation,

  461. the whole story of Christ's birth should be offensive to you.

  462. Think about this. Here's the whole story.

  463. The Bible says that God, I said, God, he that was,

  464. that he is, and that he.

  465. Is to come, He that is always going.

  466. Where he's coming from, to get to where he is,

  467. to find out he's already there. I'm talking about l Shadday,

  468. I'm talking about l Oheme. I'm talking about Jehovah, Hirah,

  469. Jehovah sid Canoe.

  470. I said, God came up with a plan to save

  471. the world. And you know what this plan was.

  472. I'm gonna go to the hood, the worst neighborhood. Y'all

  473. not talking to me in here. Why y'all say up

  474. here looking at me strange? Ain't y'all from Chicago. I said,

  475. he said, I'm going to the hood. I'm going to Nazareth.

  476. The Bible says that Nazareth had such a bad reputation

  477. pastor that people said can any good thing come out

  478. of Nazareth. That's why I don't like bougie Christians. Some

  479. of y'all acting brand new.

  480. No y'all came out of the hood. No y'all was

  481. eating government cheese. Come on in here, talk to me.

  482. Somebody know y'all was in of trauma infested homes. No

  483. y'all n seen some treachery. Some of y'all stepped over bodies.

  484. Some of y'all had folks in your house with mental

  485. health challenges.

  486. Drug issues.

  487. Grew up poor, then became adventished, joined the church, got

  488. a little money, and now you act like you better

  489. than everyonebody else.

  490. Negro, you from Nasaro. You're from Nazareth, trying.

  491. To sound sophisticated, putting big words when they don't belong,

  492. looking deep, got your fur curla.

  493. Coda on in the winter time. But you ain't nothing

  494. but a Negro from Nazareth. Help me, Lord, Help me Lord.

  495. I mean, but I want you to think about it.

  496. Right in Heaven, they're having counsel on how we gonna

  497. save the world.

  498. Figure this strategy.

  499. The strategy is this, We're gonna go to the worst

  500. neighborhood and we're going to get a teenage girl.

  501. Most scholars, could I really blow your minds?

  502. Most scholars would suggest that Mary was between twelve and

  503. fourteen years old.

  504. This ain't no grown woman, y'all. What y'all think this

  505. he is?

  506. They wasn't the same age, and Joseph was more than

  507. likely in his late twenties to his thirties.

  508. In modern times, we call that statutory rate.

  509. This is God's plan, somebody shall God's planning, y'all ain't

  510. ready for this thing to that. I said, this is

  511. God's man who's planning as a yall? So God says,

  512. I'm gonna grab me a teenage girl who is engaged

  513. or betrothed to be married. I'm going to impregnate her

  514. before she's married. Oh God, that don't make no sense.

  515. By the way, that's the title my sermon today. They

  516. don't make no sense.

  517. Wrap your mind around this evangelism strategy to find.

  518. Two poor children.

  519. Come on, talk to me somebody that don't you know

  520. what they're doing, and get you a girl who is

  521. who is preparing for marriage, but she ain't married. Then

  522. you impregnate her with God.

  523. Are y'all here now, y'all sleeping?

  524. I said, no, y'all here if you some of y'all

  525. too spiritual, because it makes sense.

  526. All this makes perfect sense to me. This don't make

  527. no sense. Carla, Carla, come on, are you hearing me?

  528. And wat's this? Here is what?

  529. And he had to pick a twelve He had to

  530. pick a twelve thirteen year old girl because you don't

  531. got enough sense to.

  532. Say, I ain't doing this. Come on, talk to me

  533. in here.

  534. Don't sanitize the Bible, make it real and so and

  535. so what happens?

  536. The Holy Spirit says, hey, listen, are you are you

  537. down to do this? Mary?

  538. And Mary says whatever the Lord says, I'm willing to

  539. do now now now here. This She is in the

  540. betrothal phase. See, we don't do this anymore, but betrothal. Essentially,

  541. there's three phases of a Jewish marriage. There's betrothal, right,

  542. there's the actual engagement, and then there's the marriage.

  543. So she is in this period of time of one

  544. year of observation, one year of what everybody the whole

  545. point of this year is for her family to.

  546. Check out him and for his family to check out her,

  547. essentially for one reason, to make sure that they are

  548. what they said they were. The whole purpose of the

  549. betrothal phase is to see if she's a virgent.

  550. Y'all. Oh, y'all's a slow house today? Is anybody with

  551. me here today? I said, Now, y'all with me here today?

  552. Can you smell what I'm trying to cook in here today? Now?

  553. The whole point is, why would you come and really

  554. complicate this thing? Lord?

  555. Lord?

  556. Do you not know that the family is checking me

  557. out to make sure I'm a good girl? And you

  558. gonna come now and mess up our plans?

  559. Y'all not hearing me in here?

  560. If I could just make my first point today, see,

  561. I want to talk to people who are carrying something

  562. that God gave you. That's why the Lord's sitting here today,

  563. Pastor that many of you you know that God has

  564. put something inside of you, and what He has put

  565. inside of you is not easily understood by people outside

  566. of you. As a matter of fact, you struggle yourself

  567. with what God gave you because you haven't really wrapped

  568. your mind around the power of what God.

  569. Has put inside of you.

  570. And you said yes, but you are not really sure

  571. that that yes makes sense. Because when God puts something

  572. inside of you, he will always put you in complicated situations,

  573. and God.

  574. Is not interested in your comfort.

  575. God is interested in complicating your life. They just two

  576. kids who want to get married in peace, and then

  577. God shows up and say.

  578. It ain't happening like this. Do you want to do

  579. what I want you to do? Do you want to

  580. go where I'm telling you to go?

  581. Well, then if I'm coming in your life, then there

  582. got to be some changes. And the first change is

  583. that you ain't in control anymore. And it's gonna get

  584. complicated here.

  585. She is got a little baby bump family checking them out.

  586. It's a problem now, the Bible says, Joseph finds out.

  587. I love telling this story, and the Bible says, I

  588. don't know what the conversation went like, but this is

  589. my sanchnified imagination. Mary Joseph, we need to talk. I

  590. got something to tell you. The Lord has been good

  591. to me. You know, she young and naive. So when

  592. you get some time, we need to we need to

  593. have a talk. So Mary and Joseph get together. Want

  594. you to talk to me, baby, Whatever you tell me,

  595. I'm gonna be good with it because I'm just so

  596. excited about this wedding. I'm just so in love with you.

  597. I just thank God for the life that he is

  598. giving us. And she said, listen, you ain't heard nothing yet,

  599. she said, listen here. She said, I had a dream

  600. and God came and he spoke to me, and baby,

  601. let me tell you what he told me. He said

  602. that he is going to fill me with his presence.

  603. And Joseph is saying, oh, praise God, come on, that's

  604. what we want.

  605. We want to be filled with his president. No, you're not.

  606. Understanding what I'm saying, baby, No, no, no, you know the

  607. Messiah that we've been praying for.

  608. Baby, he chose us, but he chose me.

  609. And and I don't know how to tell you this

  610. except just to tell you as I know.

  611. But oh, thank you Lord, Joseph. Just excuse me for

  612. a minute, because when I think of the.

  613. Goodness of Jesus, oh glory, yes, hallelujah, Joseph, I'm pregnant.

  614. And the daddy is the Holy Ghost.

  615. See listen, y'all been telling this story, sitting these kids

  616. down for children's story, lying to them, singing these these

  617. songs that have no theological meaning. Night, holy night, nah

  618. bra It wasn't nothing silent about it at all. And

  619. y'all be going driving around to them Nativity scenes and

  620. they got all these white people, they supposed to be.

  621. Black looking all calm.

  622. Come on, say amen, Mary got the baby. Joseph is

  623. standing there looking approvingly. Are y'all not here? They got

  624. the wise man there? They're not even supposed to be there.

  625. They ain't come till two years later.

  626. Are y'all hearing me?

  627. And were giving this picture like that when Christ came

  628. into the world, and it was just a beautiful experience

  629. and everybody was happy.

  630. Understand, it was not the case. When Christ came into

  631. these folks lives. He messed up their plans. And Joseph

  632. is shit to be tied.

  633. I know I can say that in here, and y'all

  634. know what I'm talking about. Come on seeing anybody know

  635. what I'm talking about In here? He big man and

  636. the Bible says, according to the law, my sister, that.

  637. Mary should be.

  638. Ain't nobody in the community agreeing with them. In Nazareth,

  639. it's the same Nazareth.

  640. That was about to throw Jesus over a cliff. You

  641. think these folks ready to throw her a baby shower?

  642. But gender reveal party.

  643. She crazy, she's touched, she'd have lost her mind. It's

  644. what Joseph is saying.

  645. And the Bible says that Joseph had made up his

  646. mind because he was righteous.

  647. Lord help me Jesus. He says, what she has done

  648. to me is wrong.

  649. But because I'm righteous, I ain't gonna put her on blast.

  650. I just preached to somebody in here right now. Some

  651. of y'all ain't righteous because you have the ammunition to

  652. put people out there, and.

  653. You do it anyway. But if you was righteous, you

  654. keep your mouth shut.

  655. You know why you keep your mouth shut because you

  656. recognize that if it had not been for the Lord

  657. on your side, it would have been your stuff that

  658. was out come on.

  659. You don't have no right to put.

  660. Nobody on blasts because God didn't put you on blasts.

  661. The Bible says, Joseph is big man, But he says,

  662. I'm still gonna divorce her. I'm just gonna do it quietly.

  663. The Bible says that it took a whole angel. Y'all

  664. not getting this thing. I know you're preaching the word here.

  665. I don't know why they got.

  666. Why they's so quiet today?

  667. Hella, are are y'all witting in here. Hey, listen, The

  668. Bible says God had the sin and angel to say, Joseph,

  669. don't do it.

  670. He said, I not. This is confusing. That's my second point.

  671. When God is getting ready to do something in your life,

  672. and when God has started something in your life, number one,

  673. it gets complicated, and it gets complicated fast. The second

  674. thing that happens is you get confused about what God

  675. is doing. And your confusion is nothing more than an

  676. acknowledgment that this thing is bigger than me. One of

  677. the reasons why many of you all don't have no stress,

  678. no anxiety.

  679. Your prayer life is the same.

  680. You're the same person you was last year in twenty

  681. twenty four, and you planning to be the same person

  682. you are in twenty twenty five.

  683. It's because you have not expanded your vision.

  684. You have not allowed God to do stuff in your

  685. life that is bigger than you.

  686. And one of the things I've discovered is that when.

  687. You allow God to push you past your limitations and

  688. push you past your fears and get you out of

  689. your comfort zone, it takes your spiritual life to another level.

  690. Am I talking to anybody in here? Pastor puts you

  691. on your face in prayer. See the vision that God

  692. has given you. Man of God has.

  693. To be big.

  694. If it's too small, then you will take credit.

  695. It won't push you past your limitations. It won't listen.

  696. Listen.

  697. Let me tell you.

  698. If ain't nobody mad about what God is doing in

  699. your life, guess what God ain't doing it time Mary

  700. is walking around and she's pregnant, and folks are mad,

  701. but Joseph is like, don't touch her.

  702. Do you realize Joseph had to cover from Mary.

  703. There are some people that thought Joseph had tasted of

  704. the honey. Y'all gonna get in here because he was

  705. covering the woman of God.

  706. The third thing that's gonna happen when.

  707. God gets ready to do something amazing.

  708. In your life.

  709. Number one, he's gonna complicate your life. Number two, you

  710. will be confused because it's too big for you to understand.

  711. And then the third.

  712. Thing is is if you look around, he's gonna sing

  713. you community to help hold your hand and collaborate so

  714. that you don't give up and so that your enemies

  715. don't triumph over you.

  716. Holleljah. Yeah, y'all not hearing me? In here.

  717. See many of you think you're alone, but you're not alone.

  718. Many of you figure by yourself, You're not by yourself.

  719. Many of you figure you're the only one going through

  720. what you're going through. You're not the only one going

  721. through what you're going through. Let's try it like this.

  722. Is there anybody in here that's been through hell? But

  723. you're still here today and it's fine, a graceome God,

  724. get on your feet.

  725. Is there anybody in here today that's made.

  726. Some mistakes, that's had some failures, that's had some disappointments,

  727. but you held on to God's hand despite it.

  728. Won't you send to your feet? Okay?

  729. Is there anybody that had to pray in the midnight

  730. hour and cry out to God figuring.

  731. That you were gonna lose your line, but you stayed

  732. in the race.

  733. You lived along. But you're still here and it's by

  734. the grace of God.

  735. Is there anybody in here today that has had to

  736. praise God with tears in your eyes, that's had to

  737. lift your hands when you.

  738. Didn't want to lift them, that had to.

  739. Tell God, thanke you look like all hell was breaking

  740. twoth in your life? And there have I got anybody

  741. here to tell you that learn how to trust him

  742. when you couldn't see him.

  743. Come on. It that you didn't see the money, you

  744. didn't see.

  745. The provision, but you stood on the promises of cop

  746. and you hell God, hold on, hold on, hold on,

  747. no sound.

  748. Look around, look around this room. Look around the room,

  749. Look around the room.

  750. Guess what you're not by your self. Open up your

  751. mouth and praise God for your neighbor.

  752. Stay right there, stay right there. We were getting ready

  753. to leave. See see see come.

  754. On in here, holy gir Yes God, Yes Lord, come on,

  755. somebody praise him in here.

  756. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Lord. Has anybody been tempted

  757. to give up?

  758. Get down here right now, Get down here, right now,

  759. Get down here right now.

  760. I don't need to.

  761. Make it specific, but if you heard God talking.

  762. To you, move right now. I'm not even done my sermon.

  763. But I hear God say, call the people of God

  764. right now. Somebody needs to be prayed for.

  765. I don't know who I'm talking to, but God is

  766. trying to do something.

  767. In your life. And what I don't need you doing

  768. is interfering.

  769. Hey, everybody, listen as your movie, as your movie, and.

  770. This ain't man, it may not be for everybody, but

  771. there's some folks in here.

  772. You since God trying to work, but you're getting scared,

  773. You're getting anxious.

  774. It doesn't feel right because you have such a loss

  775. of control. Can I help you all out with I'm

  776. real quick.

  777. God is not attracted to worthiness, He's attracted to weakness.

  778. Listen.

  779. The reason why your stuff is falling apart is because

  780. he likes it like that. That's why I'm going to Nazareth.

  781. That's why I'm finding me saying I'm not listening for

  782. many of you all, you are not going to experience

  783. the work that God wants to do in your life

  784. because you want to maintain this appearance that you got

  785. to figure it out too.

  786. But you need to be down here right now. I

  787. want to try this one more time.

  788. Is there anybody in this room other than the folks

  789. that are here right here who need a breakthrough from God?

  790. And you need prayer? You need the saints of God

  791. to pray today. You need to just get on out

  792. of your seat and come forward and say, I need

  793. healing in my body, I need deliverance in my marriage.

  794. I have a child that is wayward. I got a

  795. body that is sick. I need God a breakthrough.

  796. Press your way right now, Press.

  797. Your way because some of you think that the devil

  798. is at work. Guess what it's really God, You can't

  799. tell me. The day was thinking she had to be

  800. like who is this God? Her whole community was ready

  801. to throw her out, But step by step God would

  802. sin exactly what they needed when they needed it. Amen,

  803. I said, I listen, I'm in the middle of a

  804. faith journey right now. I don't know where my faith

  805. folk at. Where are my folks right now that doesn't

  806. step out on faith completely with some stuff in your life.

  807. And let me tell y'all something Holy GIRs told me

  808. and my wife last year. After pastoring for twenty five

  809. years fifteen years in Cleveland, Ohio, Holy Go said, quit

  810. your job, both of y'all, move south and start an

  811. international men's ministry.

  812. Who're gonna pay the bills?

  813. See, we like to glamorize faith walk, but for those

  814. of you who are living in you lose hair over it.

  815. Come on saying your pastor making it look good.

  816. Come on, say you man, I know he on a

  817. faith journey. Listen, let you hear what I'm saying.

  818. You are going to be tried, and you are going

  819. to experience mind games where you are wondering.

  820. It says, God, is this me? Who am I hearing?

  821. What's happening?

  822. Oh?

  823. God, God, I need God speak to me.

  824. Because it doesn't make sense. If we had a business

  825. meaning here, Pastor, and we said let's figure out how

  826. to reach this community, you know what I'm saying, we

  827. wouldn't be like, well, let's just got to find the youngest,

  828. hoodest person filled in with God's spirit even though they're

  829. not married, and we're gonna change the world. Do y'all

  830. know the Gospel started with an unwired mother, the same

  831. type of people y'all been trying to put out of

  832. the church. Yes, and I'm just saying God does not

  833. work the way you think he should work. Don't nobody

  834. care about your stupid traditions. They don't mean anything when

  835. it comes to God. We talk about spiritual warfare. Do

  836. y'all know what's happening in the atmosphere around here?

  837. There was a spirit of death.

  838. There was a spirit of hopelessness, even in the body

  839. of Christ. There are many of you you have not

  840. taken your own lives that some of you have fought

  841. to do it. Many of you had had your stomach pumped,

  842. some of you had somebody found you almost dead. And

  843. the only reason you here's become of the grace of God.

  844. But there are others in this community. As Pastor and

  845. I were talking, there was a steemutic spirit of hopelessness

  846. and darkness.

  847. And what if they knew.

  848. That the worst things that have happened to them were

  849. actually God preparing them for the greatest things He was

  850. going to do in their lives.

  851. What if they knew that Lift your hands right now.

  852. It's just Father, God, Father God. Like Mary today, we

  853. say have your way.

  854. Everybody can't say that, but those that mean it, say, Lord,

  855. do what you want to do. Oh have mercy, have

  856. your way, because I promise you it's better when God

  857. does his listen.

  858. He does his best work. When you're confused, when.

  859. Your life is complicated, when you feel alone, I promise

  860. you you'll miracle, You'll break through. Your mossing is on

  861. the way.

  862. Stand still and save the salvation under the word Father.

  863. Right now, I pray a prayer.

  864. Of breakthrough over every hand that is raised over every

  865. person that is watching. Somebody right now is on a

  866. faith journey. Somebody right now is in a season where

  867. God is trying to work and.

  868. It doesn't make sense.

  869. Father, I pray right now for a supernatural faith. I

  870. pray right now that you will dispel anxiety depression. Lord,

  871. I pray you remove wicked thoughts and God, I pray

  872. that hopelessness will be canceled.

  873. In the name of Jesus.

  874. God, I pray you filled in with your process and

  875. with hope to know that everything we don't work out.

  876. Now.

  877. Before I close this a few more minutes, there could

  878. be somebody here today that needs to give their life

  879. fully to Jesus Christ. I know you're here. I know

  880. you're here. The Holy Ghost told me you're here, and

  881. we don't need to waste time because when you hear

  882. his voice, you can't hard your heart.

  883. When you hear his voice, you gotta do what he

  884. tell you to do.

  885. When you hear his voice, you gotta know that he's

  886. saying this is the way, walk you in it. When

  887. you hear his voice, know that it's your best life that's.

  888. Coming for you.

  889. When you tell God, yes, I need your pray right now,

  890. But then somebody here needs to give their life to

  891. Jesus and baptism. You need to give your life to

  892. Jesus and read baptism. You need to first start with

  893. the Lord. See this ain't no joke. It ain't no

  894. game for you. Right now, game time is over.

  895. It's serious.

  896. You ain't going into this new year the same way

  897. you came in. You are going into this city full

  898. of the spirit of God, fully surrendered, fully consecrated for

  899. the work that He had for.

  900. You to do. Listen to me right now now, it's

  901. not the time for fear and for worry.

  902. If you hear the Holy Spirit speaking to you, all

  903. you got to do is tell him, yes, yes, Lord.

  904. So here it is very quickly. Who is the Holy

  905. Spirit talking to right now? You wanna be baptized? You

  906. want to be rebaptized any none of our business.

  907. We're gonna celebrate you one way or the other. Hallelujah.

  908. So I want you to raise your hand on the

  909. counter of three.

  910. Because the Lord is talking to you and you're here today,

  911. We're gonna get ready for you to raise your hand,

  912. and every head is bowed, every eye is closed. The

  913. officers and the ministers of the church will find you.

  914. You don't have to come down here. We don't gotta

  915. come get you. We're gonna come get you. Just raise

  916. your hand on the counter. Three if you hear the

  917. Lord saying, be born again, be washed, be cleansed, be renewed,

  918. be restarted. One This is for baptism and rebaptism. Two

  919. Three raise your hand right now. God bless you.

  920. I see your hand. God bless you. God bless you.

  921. With hold bless its. Just somebody else, I see a

  922. young man, God bless hold, bless you, somebody else. Just

  923. lift your hand. Keep your hand lifted high. I see

  924. your hand. Young persons, Je you.

  925. Keep praying church. Raise your hand up. The Lord is

  926. speaking to you. Hi, shot, Come on, lift this up

  927. right now. Come on, say withholding nothing, withholding nothing, Yes,

  928. with holding nothing.

  929. Just keep your hand lifted. The Lord is talking to you.

  930. Right now.

  931. Raise your hand right now. Raise your hand right now,

  932. and be obedient. Be obedient. Your best life starts with obedience.

  933. Do what God tells you to raise your hand.

  934. Love me. Come on, come on, come on, give you

  935. all of you. I give you. I see your hand,

  936. young man, God bless you. I see all love.

  937. Youve you love me, I give you all. Give you.

  938. Pastor come and pray for us.

  939. Please, somebody just lift your hands until God thank you

  940. right now, come on, don't thank him for second chances,

  941. thank him.

  942. For another chance. Hallelujah. How many are glad that he

  943. still is trying to work in his people. Hallelujah, God

  944. bless you.

  945. Listen, Amen, Lord, there is a man who has contemplated suicide,

  946. but his life has been reclaimed for Heaven's glory in

  947. Jesus' name.

  948. God.

  949. There is the brokenness of lost dreams and unfulfilled promises.

  950. But God, today we leave this sanctuary knowing that the

  951. spirit of the Living God has delivered us. And so

  952. in this atmosphere of prayer right now, because of the

  953. power of what you have done, Lord, there are parents

  954. calling out the names of their children.

  955. Out loud right now. Lord.

  956. There are grandparents calling out the names of their children,

  957. their grandchildren.

  958. Right now in Jesus' name. Lord.

  959. There are those that are praying for their sick loved ones,

  960. and they're shouting out their names right now.

  961. Oh God.

  962. The people praying for their finances and praying for their

  963. homes and God, praying for stability in their lives.

  964. But right now, Lord, you are moving. Lord.

  965. We recognize that if we face mess, it is because

  966. the Living God has decided to bring salvation out of

  967. the ugliness. So in Jesus' name, we stay in this

  968. moment of prayer and we just call and we to

  969. you wherever you are. Just pray right now, just pray.

  970. Speak to the Lord right now, call on him while

  971. he may be found, Call on him in Jesus' name,

  972. Father a spirit of prayer. Right now, Lord, we all praying.

  973. God and Father, we take this moment to lift up

  974. doctor Myron Edmunds. God, you have called him to a

  975. southern land to build an international men's ministry.

  976. And Lord, I.

  977. Pray that the days of him wondering how you will

  978. work it out will become the least and that the

  979. greatest hours of every day will be at trying to

  980. keep up with all of the good that you will do.

  981. So Lord, I pray for his wife and his children

  982. and every person that partners.

  983. With him and prays for him.

  984. And Father in Jesus' name, I pray that the day

  985. will come in the very near future that one of

  986. the largest men's gathering in American history will happen in Chicago,

  987. and doctor Myron Edmund's ministry will be at the center

  988. of that transformational moment where the city's tied of suicide

  989. against black men and violence against black men and unprecedented

  990. rates of incarceration will shift. And so Father, we thank

  991. you for this prayer time. God, don't let us leave

  992. prayer wicked. Let us walk out of this thing, trusting you,

  993. O God. In Jesus' name, we pray.

  994. Amen.
