Hey, it's Sarah with the World Mission Society, Church of God.
-
Clean and unclean animals. It's Sabbath Day Saturday, and clean
-
and unclean animals. Leviticus eleven, verse one to forty seven.
-
The Lord said to Moses and Aaron stays to the Israelites,
-
of all the animals that live on land, these are
-
the ones you may eat. You may eat any animal
-
that has a divided hoof and that choose the cut.
-
There are some that only chew the cud or ha
-
only have a divided hoof, but you must not eat them.
-
For example, the pigs, though it has a divided hoof,
-
does not chew the cud. It is unclean, unclean for you.
-
You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses.
-
They are unclean for you. And then it says at
-
the end, do not defy yourself by any of these creatures.
-
Do not make yourself c unclean by means of them,
-
are made unclean by them. I am the Lord your God.
-
Consecrate yourself and be holy, because I am holy. Do
-
not make yourself unclean by any creature that moves along
-
the ground. I am the Lord who brought you up
-
out of Egypt. Do to be your God. Therefore be
-
holy because I am holy. Don't eat the meat from
-
their bodies. Don't even touch animals bodies can't eat if unclean,
-
will make ourselves unclean. Divided hoof or true the cud
-
means the divided hoof means it has to slay in it,
-
and it carries a heavy load. Chew the cut means
-
it eats its food and regurgitates and eats it again.
-
What does it mean to distinguish between clean and unclean animals?
-
What does it mean? You must not eat animals that
-
choose that that you must eat animals that only chew
-
the cut and has the divided hoof. This was the
-
law kept by the Jewish people Leviticus twenty twenty five.
-
You must therefore make a distinguish between clean and unclean animals,
-
and between unclean and clean birds. Do not defive yourself
-
by any animal or bird or anything that moves along
-
the ground. Those that I have set apart as unclean
-
for you. So the Old Testament law is a shadow.
-
So there is animals that we must not make ourselves
-
unclean by associating with. But there's there's a way that
-
we can associate with all animals. That's in this verse,
-
Acts ten, verse nine. Peter had Jewish customs about not
-
eating anything unclean. So Peter was the Jew and he
-
was not. He was following the Jewish law, which said,
-
don't eat anything unclean, don't associate with unclean people, or
-
eat unclean animals as meat. He knew the Jewish law,
-
but Cornelius was not Jewish. Peter didn't associate with non
-
Jewish people. He said, it is against our law for
-
a Jewish, for a Jew to associate with a gentile.
-
We can even see the Jewish people nowadays. They don't
-
want to touch or associate with the gentiles because it
-
would make them unclean. But it says God accepts every
-
nation of people who fear God and do what is right,
-
not just the Jewish nation, but all nations. So God
-
made all nations clean that they accept the gospel. If
-
we preached them they accept the gospel, they could become clean.
-
But we need to be careful not to be defaulted
-
by unclean animals. Romans eight, verse eight. Romans eight, verse nine.
-
About noon the following day, as they were on their
-
journey and approaching the city, when Peter went up on
-
the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something
-
to eat, And while this meal was being prepared, he
-
found into a trance. He saw I haven't opened, and
-
something like a large sheet being let down to earth
-
by its four corners. They contained all kinds of four
-
footed animals and wills, reptiles and birds. Then a voice
-
told them to get up, Peter kill and eat. Surely not,
-
Lord Peter replied, I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.
-
The voice spoke to him a second time, do not
-
call anything impure that God has made clean. This happened
-
three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.
-
While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision,
-
the men sent by Cornelius found where Simon's house wasn't
-
stepped and stopped at the gate. They called their a
-
Simon was known as Peter, was staying there. While Peter
-
was still thinking about the vision, the spirits said to him, Simon,
-
three men are going are looking for you, so get
-
up and go downstairs. Don't hesitate to go with them,
-
for I've sent them. Peter went down and said to
-
the men, I'm the one you're looking for why have
-
you come? The men replied, we have come from Cornelius,
-
the Centurion. He is a righteous and god fearing man
-
who was in a respective by all the Jewish people. A
-
holy angel told him to ask you to come to
-
his house so they can hear what you have to say.
-
So Peter was allowed to associate with them to preach
-
the gospel, and Peter invited the men into the house
-
to be his guests. The next day Peter started out
-
with them and some of the bleeders from drop It
-
went along. The following day he arrived in Cesaria. Corneous
-
was expecting them, and he called together his relatives and
-
close friends. As Peter entered the house, Corneas met him
-
and fell out his feet in reverence, and Peter says,
-
stand up, He said, I only man myself. While talking
-
with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering
-
of people. Said to them, you are well aware that
-
is against our law for a Jew to associate or
-
visit with a gentile. But God has shown me that
-
I should not call anyone impure and clean? Does that
-
means anybody can that here's the gospel if they receive it,
-
anybody we could preach the Gospel to anybody, and when
-
they receive the Gospel, they become a clean animal. And
-
then Peter began to speak in verse thirty four, I
-
now realize how it is that God is not your favoritism,
-
but accepts from every nation the one who fears and
-
does what is right. You know the message God sends
-
to the people of israel An noown says the good
-
news of peace of Jesus Christ roor was Lord of all.
-
You know that what has happened throughout the province of Judea,
-
beginning in Galli after the Baptist and that John preached
-
how God annoyed to Jesus Nazara with the Holy Spirit
-
and power. And now he went around doing good and
-
healing all who were under the power of the devil,
-
because God was with him Verse forty two. He commanded
-
us to preach to the people and to testify that
-
he is the one whom God appointed as judges of
-
living in the dead. All the prophets testify about him,
-
about him, that everyone who believes in him receives for
-
goodness and through his name. While Peter was still speaking
-
these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard
-
the message. The circumcised believers who came with Peter were
-
astonished at the gift of the Holy Spirit and poured
-
out even to the Gentiles, for they heard them speaking
-
in tongues and praising God. So that even if the gentiles,
-
meaning non Jewish people, could hear the gospel, God made
-
every nation claimed to hear the Gospel. First Corinthians nine,
-
verse nine. Who serves as a soldier at his own expense,
-
who plants a vineyard and does not eat his grapes,
-
who tends to flock and does not drink the milk.
-
So I say this merely on human authority. Doesn't the
-
law say the same thing? For it is written in
-
the Law of Moses. Do not muslin ox while its
-
treading out the grain? And is it about Oxen that
-
God is concerned? Surely he says this for us, doesn't he? Yes,
-
this was written for us, because whoever plows and threats
-
thre threasures should be able to do so in the
-
hope of sharing in the harvest. If we have someone
-
spiritual seat among you, is it too much if we
-
reap our material harvest from you? If I'll just have
-
this right of support from this shit, and we have
-
it all the more. But we did not use this right.
-
On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than
-
hinder the Gospel of Christ. Don't you know that those
-
are serving the temple get their food from the temple,
-
and that those are serving the altar sharing what is
-
all for the altar. In the same way the lords
-
commands that those who preach the Gospel she receives their
-
living from the Gospel. Paul said, I have not used
-
any of these rights. I'm not writing this in the
-
hope that you will do such things for me. I'd
-
rather guide than allow anyone to deprive me of this boat.
-
For when I preach the Gospel, so the oxen are
-
compared to the gospel workers. When I preach the Gospel,
-
I cannot boast, since I'm compelled to preach. Woe to
-
me if I do not preach the Gospel. If I
-
preach voluntarily, I have a reward. If not voluntarily, I
-
simply discharged trust committed to me. What is my reward then,
-
just this, that I'm preaching the Gospel, I may offer
-
it free of charge. To not make full use of
-
my right as a preacher of the Gospel verse nineteen.
-
Though I am free and belong to no one, I
-
have made myself a slave to everyone to win as
-
many as possible. To the Jews. That became like a
-
Jew to win the Jews, to those under the law.
-
I became like one under the law through myself. I'm
-
not under the law, so as to win those under
-
the law. To those not having the law, became like
-
one not having the law. Though I am not free
-
from God's law, but under Christ's law. So there's the
-
law of Christ. So as to win those not having
-
the law. So to preach the gospel, we have to
-
become a slave to everyone. To the week, I become
-
a week to win the week. I become all things
-
to all peoples that by all possible means I might
-
say something. I do this for the sake of the God,
-
that I may share in his blessings. Do not know
-
that in a race, all the runners run, but only
-
one gets the prize. Run in such a way as
-
to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games
-
goes into strict training. They do not get a crown
-
that will not last. But we do it to get
-
a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not
-
run like someone running aimlessly. I do not fight like
-
a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow
-
to my body and making my slaves, so that after
-
I have preached to others, I myself will not be
-
just qualified for the prize. Paul was under a price law.
-
People following the law of prist true the cut hear
-
the word of God and obey it, and hear it
-
again and obey it. The regurgitate and eat it again,
-
recourgitate and eat it again. The split hoof is carrying
-
the heavy load. Like a split hoof, the oxen have
-
it to carry a heavy load. So the gospel workers
-
preach the gospel within going through the narrow gate carrying
-
the cross of Christ. Oxen are gospel workers or clean animals.
-
Animals represent people. We must associate with the people who
-
chew the good and preach the gospel. That means to
-
obey the word of God and preach the gospel. That's
-
why we keep the Sabbath day because sometimes we have
-
to associate with people for work, or we might get
-
unclean as we're preaching. Because what kind of people do
-
pigs represent? Jesus sends demons into pigs. And when he
-
came to the other side of the country of the
-
darren Gar Gagerines, two demons possessed men confronted him as
-
they were coming out of their tombs. So there's two
-
people possessed by demons, right they were, so should be violent,
-
and that no one could pass by that way. And
-
they cried out, saying, what business do you have with us,
-
Son of God? Have you come here to torment us
-
before the time? Now there was a herd as many
-
pigs feeding at a distance from them, and the demons
-
begged him, saying, if you're when it cast us out,
-
send us into the herd of pigs. And he set
-
to them go, and they came out and went into
-
the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the
-
steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.
-
So the pigs represent demon possessed men. Pigs are unclean
-
animals in the Old Testament, and are unclean people that
-
are demon possessed in the New Testament. Pigs do not
-
chew the cud. They are monogastric animals, possessing a single
-
compartment compartment's stomach and omnivores unlike true ruminants such as
-
cows or sheep. While pigs do not do have split hoofs,
-
they lacked the specialized stomach system needed to regurgitate and
-
rechew their food, so we shouldn't associate it with any
-
of these animals, the unclean animals, unless we're preaching the gospel.
-
But now God made all whoever accepts a gospel can
-
be saved. Thank you.
