Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good
-
for his mercy endures forever. Let's ease your announcie his
-
mercy endures forever shallon be loved and welcome once again
-
to another episode of the Morning Glory devotion. We are
-
glad to have you here. Let's begin with the word
-
of prayer. Dear Father, open our house to receive your
-
word in Jesus name. Amen, let's take a confession together
-
from Joshua chapter one, verse eight. Joshua chapter one, verse eight.
-
This book of the Law shall not DePass out of
-
my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night,
-
that I will observe to do according to all that
-
is written in it. For then I will make my
-
way prosperous, and then I will have good success. Amen.
-
This devotion is titled You are the Clay, and our
-
scripture reading will be taken from Jeremiah chapter eighteen, from
-
verses one to six. And I read the word which
-
came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, arise and go
-
down to the Potter's house, and there I will cost
-
you to hear my words. Then I went down to
-
the potter's house, and there he was making something at
-
the wheel, and the vessel that he made of clay
-
was mad in the hand of the potter, so he
-
made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good
-
to the potter to make. Then the word of the
-
Lord came to me, say, Old House of Israel, can
-
I not do with you as this potter? Says the Lord. Look,
-
as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are
-
you in my hand, Old House of Israel. Amen, you
-
are the clay. Imagine standing over a pot of sizzling
-
onions and oil on the stove. You are trying to
-
make a pot of tomatoes stew. But just when you're
-
about to pour the tomatoes in, you hear them shouting
-
from the cutain board. No, not me, grab the chicken instead.
-
I can picture the flowergasted look on your face. Now,
-
imagine sitting behind the potter's wheel, trying to craft a
-
beautiful vase. You reach a stage where you need to
-
collapse and remold the clay, and suddenly the lump of
-
mad cries out in exasperation. Not again. Once again. Your
-
expression will be a mixture of surprise and utter confusion.
-
Yet how often do we do something just as odd
-
by trying to direct the Almighty God on which seems
-
to play out in our lives. There is an innate
-
human need to have control over whatever happens to us
-
and when it happens. However, when we sign up for
-
the Born Again project and I enrolled in the School
-
of the Spirit, we must understand that God is the
-
master potter and the author of our stories. In no
-
book that the character dictate to the author how each
-
chapter shall turn out. Beloved, stop trying to control the narrative.
-
Hand the clay back to the potter and watch the
-
beauty that springs out of what you may think is
-
absolute chaos. Yes, things may not look the way you
-
hope they wild right now. Perhaps the very promises God
-
whispered to you have yet to unfold. But remember our
-
uncle scripture. When the vessel was mad in the hands
-
of the potter, he didn't throw it in the trash.
-
He remade it into another vessel, as it seemed good
-
to the potter to make. God is the potter and
-
we are the clay. Do not be discouraged or downcast
-
because your current circumstances do not reflect the picture God
-
has shown you and your dreams the crushing in the
-
stretching you feel right now, isn't God destroying you? Is
-
his hands reshaping you. As long as God has spoken it,
-
he will do it. In as long as Jesus is alive.
-
Your story is far from over. Amen, our memory there
-
will be taken from Psalms thirty seven, verse twenty three,
-
and I read the inultivation. The Lord directs the steps
-
of the godly. He delights in every detail of the lives.
-
The Lord directs the steps of the godly, He delights
-
in every detail of their lives. Amen. Let's end on
-
the notes of prayer. Heaven Father, we yield our lives
-
to you today, affirming that you are indeed the all
-
wise God. Give us grace to follow steadily in your leadership.
-
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen, God bless you for
