MGD: The Standard of God Remains the Same

of the Morning Glory Devotion. Let's share with of prayer. Father,

will thank you for the wonderful privilege to gather at

your feet to listen to your wed. Please open our

eyes and let us see the wonder stands out of

your wad in ge yes my name. Amen. Let's take

a confession from Joshua, chapter one, verse eight. Joshua, Chapter one,

verse a. This book of the Law shall not depart

out of my mind, but I shall meditate in it

day and night, that I may observe to do according

to all that is written in it. For then I'll

make my way prosperous, and then I'll have good success. Amen.

The thing for today's discussion is the standard of God

remains the same. The standard of God remains the same.

Our case scripture is taken from Hebrews, chapter tighten, verse eight.

Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Amen.

The standard of God remains the same. One of the

dangers we believe its face today is the temptation to

justify wrong behavior by pointing to the failures of people

in the Bible. I once had a friend who often

used the negative actions of biblical characters to excuse some

of the wrong things he was doing. Whenever he was corrected,

he would mention someone in scripture who made a similar

mistake and conclude that his actions were acceptable. For example,

Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife because he was

afraid for his life. Rachel deceived her father Labor by

claiming she was having a menstrual period while hiding household

idols in Genesis thirty one, ves thirty four to thirty five.

Best incidents are recorded in scripture, but they were not

recorded for us to imitate. The Bible honestly reveals both

the strengths and weaknesses of God's people. We must understand

that what God records is not always what God approves.

Abraham's lie brought trouble, fear, and embarrassment. Rahael's deception was

connected to the sameful practice of keeping idols. Neither action

was commended by God. Many people to this say David

committed adultery, Moses became angry, or Peter denied Jesus. Paul

asked Timothy to drink little wine because of his stomach.

God even asked a prophet to marry a prostitute and

then use those examples to excuse their own sins. This

is a dangerous and misunderstanding of scripture. The purpose of

these stories is to warn us, teach us, and show

us God's mercy, not to provide a mission for disobedience.

God's standard has never changed. He still calls his people

to truthfulness, integrity, holiness and obedience. What was seeing in

Abraham's day is still seen today. What displeased to God

then still displeases him now. While God forgives those who repent,

he never lowers his standard to accommodate our weaknesses. As believers.

We should not compare ourselves with the failures of men.

He should compare ourselves with a character of Christ. Jesus

is our example. He spoke the truth, obeyed the Father,

and lived a life without sin. When we fail, we

must repent and seek God's grace. Rather than searching for

biblical excuses to justify our behavior. Today, let us resolve

to uphold God's standard and allow his word to correct

us instead of twisting its to support our desires. God's

standard remains the same, and his call to holiness remains
