-
Jewshah chapter one, verse eight.
-
This book of the Law shall not depart from my mouth,
-
but I shall meditate in it day and night, that
-
I may observe to do according to all that is
-
written in it. For them, I will make my way prosstprous,
-
and then I'll have good success. Amen.
-
Our thing for today's devotion is pass it forward. Pass
-
it forward. We take our scripture reading from Tewod Timothy,
-
Chapter one, verse one to seven. I'm reading from the
-
New King James's version Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ,
-
by the will of God according to the promise of
-
life which is in Christ, Jesus to Timothy, a beloved son, Grace,
-
mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ, Jesus
-
our Lord. I thank God whom myself with appear conscience,
-
as my forefathers did, as without ceasing. I remember you
-
in my prayers night and day, greatly desiring to see you,
-
being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled
-
with joy when I call to remembrance the genuine faith
-
that is in you. We dwelt first in your grandmother
-
Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded seeing
-
you also. Therefore I remind you to stare up the
-
guilt of God which is in you through the lane
-
on my hands. For God has not given us a
-
spirit of fear, but of power and of love and
-
of a sound mind. This is the word of the Lord.
-
Fast be to God, Pass it forward, Pass it forward.
-
We all do love to watch athletes compete in really racing.
-
We see how a relay team of usually false printers
-
run a preset distance, carrying a button and passing it
-
forward to the next runner. Usually, the team that wins
-
is the one that is disciplined enough to run with
-
all endurance, making sure they never at any points drop
-
the button, each time passing it forward. In the scripture
-
we read today, we are told of how Timothy was
-
grace to have genuine faith passed on to him from
-
his mother, units who also received same from his grandmother
-
Lois like a baton. This genuine faith was, with all endurance,
-
passed on down to him. How blessed was he to
-
have been part of such a family. We all do
-
know that our calling to the faith was no family affair,
-
as no family member received the Lord on our behalf,
-
neither did we receive it as an inheritance. We had
-
to willingly and personally accept the Lord Jesus as our
-
personal savior. However, when we cast our minds back, may
-
be able to confirm for many of us how being
-
brought up in a Christian setting, or having some close
-
Christian associate helped bring us to the point of our salvation.
-
We may have seen the power of Christ exemplified through
-
their lives and desired to witness saying in our lives.
-
For many of us, that could have been the background
-
that firsted our adoption in Christianity. From Martinew chapter one,
-
we see how the genealogy of Jesus greatly benefits from
-
disgrace of passonate forward preparing the way of the Lord.
-
We see how for forty two long generations, the faith
-
was passed forward from Abraham, the father of faith, all
-
the way down to Joseph, the husband of Mary, of
-
whom was born Jesus Christ. This act of passing down
-
the faith called for discipline and endurance from key members
-
in these generations. These members played significant roles and made
-
vuluable psych grifices in passing this mantle of faith forward.
-
It called for Abraham's obedience of moving from his comfort
-
Haron to unknown Canaan. It called for Isaac faithfully walking
-
in the steps of his father Abraham, believing in the
-
word of the Lord and dwelling in the land of
-
Ghera de Spies the Farmine. It's called for rehab to
-
believe in the saving grace of the God of Israel
-
and receiving the spies in peace. It called for Ruth
-
swearing allegiance to Naomi, even when she had lost it
-
all and had no hope of gaining sight. Time will
-
not permit us to talk of Jacob, Obed and David,
-
as well as the many gallants, men and women of faith,
-
who through sacrifices, paved the way for the coming of
-
our Messiah. For all these men and women of faith,
-
they were convinced that the sufferings and pleasures of this
-
present world were not worthy to be compared to the
-
glory that had to be revealed in their families and
-
their generations. Yet on born, they simply saw themselves as
-
instruments through which God would bring his people so great
-
a salvation. Had any of them failed as passing it forward,
-
we would have never benefited of this great salvation that
-
came through our Lord Jesus Christ. Looking at this example
-
of how the faith was passed on in the genealogy
-
of Jesus, we should be more convinced that there is
-
a bigger picture and a better reason for our lives
-
here on earth. The successes and salvation of nations and
-
generations yet on born are tied to our simple acts
-
of obedience to the faith and passing it forward. It
-
calls for us to make selfless sacrifices and let go
-
of the sin that easily besets us, running with all endurance.
-
The race that is set before us, just as we
-
are told in Hebrews Chapter twelve.
-
Is one.
-
We should have at the back of our minds. That
-
our primary goal on planet Earth goes far beyond just
-
making a living for us and our nuclear families. Our
-
primary objective is to faithfully endure at running the race
-
and passing the baton of faith forward. Our simple act
-
of obedience to this call will pave the way for
-
the salvation of many members of our families and chain
-
the path of many others, bringing them from the path
-
of darkness to light. It calls for us to, at
-
all costs, overcome the pleasures of sin, step out from
-
our comfort zone, and evangelize while intentionally making investments of
-
prayer for the salvation of others. Jesus Christ and our
-
fathers and mothers of old, for the joy set before them,
-
have faithfully endured their cross, despicing the shame, and have
-
handed over the battle of faith to us. Would we
-
pass it forward? God wishly bless you. Let us kindly
-
take our memory Verse our memory. Verse for today is
-
taken from he Brewshops at twelve, verse one. He bruis
-
chopped at twelve the verse one, and it reads, Therefore
-
we also, since we are surrounded by so great a
-
cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every week and
-
the sand which so easily ensnares us, and let us
-
run with endurance the rags that they set before us. Us. Therefore,
-
we also, since we are surrounded by so great a
-
cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and
-
the same which so easily ensnares us, and let us
-
run with endurance the race that is set before us. Amen,
-
Please let us share word of prayer. Our heavely Father,
-
we thank you for enduring the cross, despice, and the shame,
-
and passing forward this great mantle of faith to us.
-
We receive grace to do the same and pass it
-
forward to the benefit of genuation yet on born in
-
Jesus's mighty name. Amen.
-
Amen. Person on the faith means to lay aside every
-
pleasures of the flesh and intentionally investing efforts into the
-
salvation of others. Amen.
-
Amen.
-
God, bless you for being a part of today's devotion.
