-
with God savant Reverend Doctor Joseph b. Being, Head Pastor
-
of Harvest Chapel International Commercy. And now to today's message.
-
This Book of the Law shallow de bad out of
-
my mouth. But I shall meditate in it today and night.
-
I will observe to do according to all that is
-
written in it. But then I will make my way prosperous,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen, why don't
-
you take your seats, Just come with me too. The
-
Book of Polosians, chapter number one, and let's read through
-
portions of the book. Some Bible teachers have said that
-
the Book of Colosians or Pause Letters to the Colosian Church.
-
It's a very short book. We can be able to
-
read through on our own within fifteen or twenty minutes.
-
It's a very short letter is to be able to
-
read all. And so what I plan to do as
-
we examine the theme for the month, which is how
-
best we can bring order in our conversations? Hallelujah. And
-
the text of the Ankle scripture for our discourses on
-
how best we can bring order in our conversations is
-
taken from Collosians for verse six, and it reads that
-
let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so
-
that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
-
That's the year has been there amplified. Classic puts it
-
this way. Lad your speech at all times be gracious
-
that means pleasant and winsome, seasoned as it were, with salt,
-
so that you may never be at a loss to
-
know how you ought to answer anyone who puts a
-
question to you. And then let me read the message. Finally,
-
he says that use your heads as you live and
-
work among outsiders, don't miss a trick, make the most
-
of every opportunity. I'm reading five and six years from
-
the But the best six is that be gracious in
-
your speech. The goal is to bring out the best
-
in others in a conversation and not to put them down,
-
not to cut them out. Amen. And so we have
-
a lot of work to do for the man our best.
-
We can bring order into our conversations. But that's what
-
I said. Sometimes when you pick the texts, you know,
-
from the middle of polse entire discourse, then you miss
-
a lot, you know. So that's why sometimes it's quite
-
helpful to approach your Bible steady holistically or book by book.
-
Then you are able to put whatever verse that speaks
-
to you, you are able to put it in context,
-
having a very broad panoramic view of what the author
-
set out to communicating the letter. Remember, I always like
-
to point this man out that most of the letters
-
that were written in the books of the Bible, they
-
didn't do any chapter and any versus. No, there was
-
one long if you like, essay or letter or narrative.
-
And Bible scholars are the ones who have done over
-
the years, have you know, put it in chapters and
-
then versus because of the importance of being able to
-
not just read but also to steady. You know, we
-
can't conveniently put these truths into practice if we don't
-
understand the amay, and so compartmentalizing them in chapters and
-
versus heals the reader to follow along with the discourses
-
that the writers. We're doing a man, and so that
-
is how come might was one long letter, And as
-
I said, and that's all, try to read it. But
-
tonight I just wander us to also just read some
-
of the excerpts that will help us when we come
-
to chapter four, verse six, where we have picked our
-
theme from that we must bring all that into our
-
conversations and we'll be able to put it in rightful context. Amen.
-
You know, so that we have said a lot of things,
-
not just about our conversation, but our entire conduct as
-
believers in Christ. And so hopefully as we read the
-
excerpts as I have said, we'll be able to understand
-
and put our conversations in the right place in the
-
entire way we are living our Christian lives or the
-
expectations that God has for us. The book or this
-
letter of Paul to the church in Colose, it's one
-
of the letters that the apostle Paul is believed have
-
writing whilst he was in and the house arrest. That
-
was his first imprisonment. He read the last chapter of
-
the Book of Acts, Apostle looked letters understand that when
-
he appealed to Caesar, he was sent to Caesar in Rome.
-
But for the first two years he was left alone,
-
more like he was just under house arrest, and he
-
was allowed to receive visitors and all that. And he
-
believed that Paul wrote the letter to the Church in
-
Colose together with the church the letter or the Book
-
of Ephicians Philippians Colosians, and the letter to Filing Moon,
-
or these four letters or epistles of all our group
-
together of style pause prison letters, because he wrote them
-
in prison whilst awaiting trial before Caesar. And if you
-
read this for all these, particularly these three books, you
-
realize that most of the things are similar. He was
-
in the same spirit as he penned down these letters
-
here too, and typical of pause letters. He devotes there
-
all the way that the scholars have done it for us.
-
The first half of most of these epistles are devoted
-
to doctrine, knowledge, wisdom and understanding, and then the second
-
half is devoted to practical Christian living our best. We
-
can put these thoughts the theoretical pass into practice. Amen.
-
Remember our knowledge of God what we see it too.
-
It must be theoretical and experiential, and they must go
-
hand in hand. If your theoretical knowledge outgrows your experiential
-
knowledge in Christ, then your Christian life sul I say,
-
your work with the Lord will be stunted. You know
-
it's not going to be whole. You read your practice,
-
put the truth, validate it. That is how we grow,
-
and that is how we're mature in the Lord. If
-
we read, really read, read, and most of it we
-
just dump it. We say, quiet time, quiet time, devotional life,
-
we read it, we just dump it. And so we
-
are not changing, We are not maturing. We are not
-
becoming more christ Like as the days roll by, and
-
in particulars reference to what we are talking about sooner
-
than later, like he's saying and admonishing, our conversation should
-
always be seizing with salt. Messay says, don't cut people off,
-
don't put them down, and don't make them feel that
-
you are not wanted around me. You're not know ledgable,
-
you are not wise, you know, And these are some
-
of the things that hinders, you know, the unity in
-
the church, and it ruins relationships. If every time in
-
conversation you're putting people down, whether you're in church, at
-
the workplace or the marketplace, wherever you go, your people
-
are not able to draw close to you because they
-
know that you are put offish person. You put them
-
off and put them in the right place sooner than later,
-
then you're not able to draw close to you. And
-
then the whole if you like, and let's take aspect
-
of our work with God is dumb and God, you know,
-
of what use is he going to teach you toory? Theory?
-
And then you're not putting into practice. So you realize
-
that there's a visual cycle. You're not putting the truth
-
of the world of God into practice. The only spirit
-
shuts off the flow of grace. If you're not prepared
-
to imitate Jesus and to be like him and you
-
want to lead your own life, the only spirit will draw.
-
And that's why we have a lot of stuntard growth
-
in church. We are not mature, we are not growing
-
amen and we are cutting each other. We are putting
-
each other at bay, and cliches are raising up in church,
-
and you know, h every category, every segment of the church.
-
This one says that I'm an aposto. You are not
-
an apostle. This one says that you know, I'm a prophet.
-
You you know, you know my credentials, and you know
-
the whole church, you know, community is so divided, so discordant,
-
and we become a laughing stalk to the world because
-
they look at us and they say, look, the things
-
that you guys are teaching, you are not living them out.
-
So why do we have to join you? Because you
-
have shown us by the way you are living your
-
life that it is inapplicable. You can't apply it in
-
the twenty first century, so that faith, it doesn't work.
-
And it is all because of you and I the
-
way we have approached it. Our practical demonstration of Christian
-
living must go and use a Latin way in pari
-
pursuit with our knowledge handy do here, amen, they must
-
go hand in hand, knowledge, doctrine, practice, theoretical, practical. You
-
read it, you validated, and you see the thing about
-
when you validated is that it gives you a lot
-
of energy and strength to go on and apply those throuths.
-
Then God is it. God is looking for people who
-
stand up and say, yeah, I am use me, I
-
want to be your image bearer. And he has promised
-
that he will bless us. Amen, he will bless us.
-
God is the biggest fan base of the community of
-
the Saints, and that is why he has gone out
-
of his way. He didn't only die for us. It
-
didn't only come to give us power to disable the
-
charm and the power of saying over our lives. But
-
it comes up also to be our biggest fan base
-
by depositing his only spirit in us to help us
-
be the people that he has called us to be. Amen.
-
And it's all here. The mind transformation is doable. I
-
can't do it. I want to do it, and I
-
will do it, and it will help you do it.
-
But if you still want to be your own self
-
and say that, hey, and all that I need is
-
the badge of salvation and born again. And you read
-
the scriptures, and sometimes it just dawns on you that
-
we are not reading the scriptures. Even you're born against something,
-
the Bible says that it will be put to test.
-
It's not about you saying it on that day, on
-
judgment Day, it will be put to test whether it
-
will stand. Harley Louis, I'm sure as we read through
-
this book with So let's go. Let's start off from
-
Colose on chapter one. I'm going to read through these
-
three to twenty two. Can we do guess New King James, So,
-
as I said, is the one of the prison letters
-
Paul wrote it? Or write this letter or epistol to
-
the church in Colose. It is not known that p
-
Paul is not the one you read through the Book
-
of Arts, and he didn't go to Colose to plan
-
the church. But it is rather believed by Bible scholars
-
that one of his disciples, a path us, is the
-
one close was I think about hundred meters or so
-
from episodes where Paul spend a lot of time and
-
believe that one of the converts that's a path for
-
us is the one who went there and then set
-
up the church. So let's pick it up from there.
-
Let's read through some of the and then he says,
-
we give thanks to God and to the God and
-
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praying always for you,
-
and there's always for leaders. We must be prayer for
-
the work that we are doing is a spiritual our way,
-
it will always face or attract a position. And as
-
a Christian leader, you are not praying when we call
-
for the prayer times, you are not coming. You will
-
disarm your leadership. You're not going to be effective. But
-
sometimes we forget that we are accountable. Amen. I don't
-
know about you, but the assignment that God has entrusted
-
into our care, it's fearful. And God says that for
-
you and I in leadership, he will judge us much
-
more severely than those who are not. He says, to
-
whom much is giving, much is required. And you can't
-
do this in your kind our self. It's impossible because
-
we are not against flesh and black, against principalities and
-
powers spirit to our forces of darkness. Who doesn't want
-
to see change in the children of God? Who also
-
wants that the Christian faith will be ridiculed and God
-
is ridiculed, the Church is ridiculed. When you and I
-
we are not able to demonstrate living faith, that's no change.
-
So as far as they are concerned, the church is dead,
-
So why should they be attracted to a dead faith? Amen,
-
we're not seeing proofs. You're not seeing signs. You're not
-
seeing wonders because their conditionality is attached to God moving
-
on our behalf and rewarding us for being imade baried.
-
So he says that our Lord Jesus cribe praying always
-
for you. That's for we're going to twenty two. Since
-
we head of your faith. So now you can see,
-
since we head of your faith in Christ Jesus, and
-
of your love for all the saints, laugh for all
-
the saints, not for some, laugh for all. Be here,
-
we mu'st laugh or say amen, Halleluiah. I don't think
-
that will come there. But I was reading The Poor
-
and Say on Love in First Confidence thirty, and as
-
I was reading through, it just tracked me that, look,
-
we can put love and then our conversations on the
-
parallel footing. Amen. And then it just jaels. Love is
-
patient conversation. You should be patient. Some of that we
-
don't know how to make conversations are thought. Oh that's
-
why we cut people off and put them off. Hallelujah.
-
When you are kinder and you are talking to somebody,
-
the kindness comes out, doesn't it. We can talk kindly, Amen.
-
He said, Love is not rude. Some of us are
-
conversation you don't say, oh, I'm not rue, but the conversation,
-
the way you are talking, immediately everybody knows that you're
-
a rude guy. Halle me wi say, I have not
-
demonstrated any but the way you are talking, your choice
-
of words they're putting down, you make people feel are
-
no important. You're nobody. Do you know me? You have
-
not said it is so much worse conversation. Your conversation
-
will betrayed whether indeed you are a person of love
-
or not. Halen Louiah, Amen, we are not there yet,
-
but we are still reading through Halened Louiah, Amen. And
-
when we get there, we will read and well draw
-
the parallels and then you see. But let's read through proportions.
-
As I said, since we heard of your faith in Christ, Jesus,
-
and of your love all the saints, that's five. Because
-
of the hoop which is laid up for you in heaven,
-
of which you had before, in the word of the
-
truth of the God. We are going to heaven, and
-
that is a holy place. Amen. Heaven is a holy
-
place where God dwells. So what's your conversations? Are you
-
demonstrating holiness? There's some word as a believers, some words
-
you not come out of you. And we are not
-
just talking about the ordinarily, but the spirit that backs
-
the words, the spirit that backs the way, that is
-
what brings the cutting. Amen. Somebody who used one word,
-
you also use the same way. And then the spirit behind, Oh,
-
foolish gallicians. Then you say, I want to call people
-
by you, you're foolish. The way you say it, everybody
-
will know that you are not caughting Paul. But there's
-
another spirit putting people down. My poor uses that we
-
read it and we laugh at it, old, foolish, gallicious,
-
But you you take it up. And then the foolishness
-
everybody coming and trapping woman the spirit. That's something. Hallelujah. Amen.
-
So because of the hope which is later for you
-
in heaven, of which you had before in the word
-
of the truth of the Gospel verse six, which has
-
come to you, as it does also in all the world,
-
and it's bringing for fruit as it is also among
-
you since the day you head and knew the grace
-
of God in truth saven, as you also learn from me.
-
Pafers to us, I said, Heparferus is the one who
-
is believed to have set up the church in qoloity,
-
our dear fellow Savern, who is a faithful minister of
-
Christ on your behalf, who also declared to usk your
-
love in the spirit. For this reason, we also, since
-
the day we head it, do not cease to pray
-
for you and to act that you may be filled
-
with the knowledge of His will. In all wisdom and
-
spiritual understanding, God has not just saved us for saving sake.
-
He has a mindset, he has a will, He has
-
a reason why he saved us. He has a vision
-
to get us into Heaven. But Heaven is a holy
-
place where God dwells. And he says that all the
-
preparation that is needed to be a citizen of that
-
kingdom begins here, begins here on hearth. Harlen Louiah, Amen.
-
And God has saved us, and He's doing everything by
-
depositing his spirit, his Holy Spirit in us to prepare
-
us for that transition. And yes, still a lot of
-
believers say, no, I still want to be my own
-
self like I always says, Oh leave me, leave me
-
and take me just as I am. No, it's on
-
script up. There's no way in the Bible where God
-
says that Yes, God receives us just as we are.
-
But he applies the medicine as the doctors when you
-
come in and then you are sick, and we apply
-
the medicine and say you can take you are discharged,
-
and then to cover you. You right there, he says that
-
this patient has refused his medication, So I discharge against
-
medical advice. So nobody holds you. Amen, we have come,
-
but we are receiving. We are refusing the mets that
-
God has prescribed that will bring wholeness and healing to
-
our body, souls and spirit. And we are in church
-
and says that leave me alone, me do what I want,
-
and this is our take me out. You are judging me.
-
You are judging me, and that's for me. I'm judging you.
-
And so because of that, a lot of persons continue
-
women and Mama, I have always said, I'm just standing
-
on the authority of God's word and what he has
-
taught me. It's tough being in the school of the spirit. Amen,
-
But the fruits, the fruit, the outcome is glorious. It's
-
beautiful when you allow him to mentor to coach you
-
and to fashion you into the new man that he desires.
-
To build. He said that old is gone. All things
-
are knew. That's crucifying the old man. You don't lose anything.
-
It's all game gain is all win win for us.
-
And he has promised us not just for this life,
-
but the life hereafter. He will reward us for cooperating. Amen.
-
The challenge is two men your us. We are not
-
cooperative with the Holy Spirit. We are not cooperating with him.
-
You're not reading our word. If he read it, he said,
-
this is not for me. So we step out of
-
the the community in the marketplace, nobody recognizes as as
-
children of God. Hey, conversation that is, he will ship
-
your mouth sha share He said, yes, sir, he said
-
something back. You know, for my old life. I have
-
one word bit that if I give him that word,
-
it will settle he said, Shah, and let him go, Papa.
-
He will think that I'm a FOOLO. I need to
-
say something. I need to I said, he has, he has.
-
He has trampled on myself esteem. I should. Now he's
-
pointing out to you. Look at the cross. Look at
-
the cross. Look at before pilot. Look at what they
-
did to him. They spat on him, this hitting and
-
Peter will reference it. When he was admonishing the church
-
in his pistol, he said, look at Jesus, I was there.
-
He was there, and the courtier and went away beating him,
-
slapping him and doing all kinds of thing, and said
-
he was looking at the wonder working man that he
-
had he had worked with, was working on the water.
-
And then was ah and Jesus nothing nothing, nothing, nothing.
-
Even Pilot was exasperated. He said, God, you know me,
-
just open your mouth, make a defense. I'll let you go.
-
And he told him that look, you never have had
-
power over me, except that they had been given to
-
you from heaven. And Pilot was confused. And then he
-
would go back. And then the people were saying no, no, crucifying.
-
He said, I see nothing in him. And now after everything,
-
then the whole explanation unraveled. He had to take our
-
punishment for us. He died for us. He took the pain,
-
he took the shame on us, and he says we
-
should be just like him. He never hit back, He
-
never spoke back or talked back to people who cut him.
-
The man. They gave him all kinds of names, but
-
he never defended himself. And he says, with you be
-
like him. So it's a tough call. And then he says,
-
I will help you. Amen. So he said, for this
-
reason we also since the day we head it, do
-
not cease to pray for you and to ask that
-
you may be filled with the knowledge of His will
-
in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. That is what the
-
Holy Spray brings. As you you commit yourself to diligent
-
and faithful reading, steady meditated and application of the Word
-
of God in your life, and the Holy Spay will
-
push you, will set He will set up the scenarios
-
for you. He will set up the scenarios for where
-
the truth that you have learned it will call for application,
-
and see what choices you are going to make. He
-
is responsible for the whole Christian life. That's why we
-
say it is not our life, by His life. So
-
all that you and I need to do is to cooperate.
-
But you that diligent Bible, steady devotional life is going
-
to help you to be a go to descend the
-
voice of the Spirit. So now when everybody are being
-
insulted and deep within he's saying shut up, chat up
-
chat up, chat up chat up. Shall up. It is
-
when you start boiling, then you hear that the voice
-
if then you is going up. Yes, But once soon
-
after you cooperate, you realize that everything is cool. You
-
overcome one person insults you, you overcome the second. But
-
now everybody can insult you, and then you will smile
-
it Harry here, But the first one now is going
-
to test how cooperative you are. Amen. For this reason,
-
we also since the day we heard it, do not
-
cease to pray for you and to ask that you
-
may be failed with the knowledge of His will in
-
all wisdom and spiritual understanding. This then that you may
-
walk now listen to that that you may work worthy
-
of the Lord, fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every
-
good way, and increasing in the knowledge of God. We
-
bear fruit when we are maturing, isn't it, Harlenluiah, a
-
man who work wealthy of the Lord. When they see us,
-
they man see us as children of God. One of
-
the ways that when we're growing up we try to
-
wrap around our minds is the fact that, hey, you
-
are a representative of Jesus. We have been born again,
-
so we have royal blood. Amen, you are a king
-
a here you can if you call a you are
-
you say a princess? Are you are, amen, Halen Louia, Amen,
-
not a princess of the kings of this heath, but
-
of the royal Kingdom of God. So when you step
-
out there in the community, you are mindful. You are
-
mindful the way you talk, the conversations that you aren't
-
trying to when not to talk. Amen, very very im poor.
-
You see, you wrap your mind about all these truths.
-
So the Bible is telling us that you are work
-
worthy of the Lord. So you carry the Holy Spirit
-
in you. You are an ambassador of Jesus Christ. And
-
you know that you must behave yourself and you must
-
not give room for people to do what to insult
-
the name of the Lord. It will check you. You
-
meditate on these troops. Wow, worthy of the Lord. Work
-
worthy of the Lord. I am going to the market today.
-
Anytime I sit in the trusky, there's problem with the maid.
-
So okay, let me go here and go and change
-
my coins face so that today there will no be ana.
-
Then you change. Fortunately, you're unfortunate if you're not able
-
to change and say okay today, Now the test has come.
-
I add some fifty p what do I do? Then
-
God said, can you leave it to him? Is this
-
fifty P that every time you go and mess up?
-
And when they can you can you leave it? Alad?
-
You can buy your liberty with fifty p Harry Louiah,
-
and then you leave it. Then you are learning. You
-
are picking your lessons. Hallelujah, Amen, working worthy of the Lord,
-
fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every good way, and
-
increasing in the knowledge of God.
