Bless the Lord, oh my soul and all that is
-
within me. Bless his holy name. Shalom, family, and welcome
-
to today's morning glory devotion. This is the Bruce Smith
-
from Harvis Shapeled International Commercy, and it is a privilege
-
to be facilitating today's devotion. Let us kindly share a
-
word of prayer. Gracious Father, but thank you for the
-
gift of life. We pray and commit our time in
-
your word into your hands. Brood over russle, God, cause
-
your life to shine on our heart and transform us
-
by the power of your word. In Chess's mighty name,
-
we pray with thanksgiving. Amen. That is kindly a firmal
-
confession from Joshua, chapter one, verse eight. Joshua chapter one,
-
verse eight. This book of the Law shall not depart
-
out of my mouth, but I shall meditate in a
-
day and night that I may observe to do according
-
to all that is written in it. For then I
-
will make my way prosperous, and then I will have
-
good success a man. The theme for today's devotion is
-
the Word that gives Life. The Word that gives Life
-
written by Joshua Amebia Law and a scripture reading is
-
taken from John chapter one, verse one through verse five.
-
John chapter one, verses one to five. I'll be reading
-
from the New Living Translation. In the beginning, the Word
-
already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word
-
was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God
-
created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
-
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and
-
his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in
-
the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. Here
-
ends the reading of the Word, and all shall respond.
-
Thanks be to God. Amen. The Word that gives life,
-
The Word that gives life. We love it. When we
-
talk about the Word, we are usually talking about two
-
things which are actually the same. In one sense. We
-
are talking about the Holy Bible, or the Holy Scriptures
-
that we all hold in our hands today. Apostle Peter
-
says about the Holy Scriptures in tewod Peter chapter one,
-
verse twenty and twenty one that above all you must
-
realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the
-
prophet's own understanding or from human initiative. No, those prophets
-
were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
-
So the Bible we hold in our hands is not
-
an ordinary book. It is a record of the things
-
that God, the creator of the world and everything in it,
-
wants to say and communicate to us, the things He
-
wants us to know about himself, the world we live in,
-
the sin that plaques it in ourselves. In another sense,
-
when we talk about the Word, we are also referring
-
to the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
-
This is best seen in the fourteen verse of John
-
chapter one, where it says the Word became flesh and
-
made his dwelling amongst us. We have seen his glory,
-
the glory of the one and only Son from the Father,
-
full of Christ and truth. Amen. We are told from
-
verse four of today's Scripture reading that it is the
-
Word that gave life to everything that was created. While
-
it is sometimes difficult to properly and fully define what
-
life is today, I want us to consider two key
-
aspects of what life is defined as. First, life is
-
to bring into existence, or to cause something to exist. Second,
-
life is to cause something to prosper in its purpose,
-
to cause something to grow in a particular or desired direction,
-
to fulfill a certain purpose. So when we look at
-
the story of creation and Genesis chapter one, we see
-
that God caused everything to exist by first speaking it out,
-
but then He had a specific purpose and a design
-
for everything he made, so existing of being here like
-
we all are, is just one aspect of the equation
-
of what we mean when we talk about the word
-
given life. The other equally important aspect of the life
-
the Word gives is giving us insight into the reason
-
and purpose of our existence and bringing meaning into our lives.
-
And it is only by knowing the purpose of our
-
lives that we can truly prosper. Out of the life
-
that the Word gives is the light of salvation that
-
is available to everyone through our Lord Jesus Christ. This
-
light was necessary because of the darkness of death that
-
sin brought into the world, and it is with this
-
light that we can even begin to truly see and
-
work the part of God's purples for our lives and
-
prosper Beloved, At one point or another in your life,
-
you may have wandered what the point of everything we
-
go through in the world is. You may have had
-
many questions about your life and the world that has
-
plagued you. Sadly I can give you the answers to
-
all the questions you have about life, and no life
-
coach or spiritual guru anywhere truly can either. But fortunately,
-
what I can do is tell you where and with
-
whom you can find the answers that you need in
-
order to truly live and prosper here on earth any eternity. Yes,
-
there is a sure way to obtain the answers you need,
-
and that is by going to the one who made
-
and designed it all. He is the only one who
-
has all the right answers, and he has made these
-
answers accessible to us through his word. Beloved, we must
-
remember that the Word does not only give life, but
-
is necessary for sustaining life. Like our logiesus said in
-
Matthew chapter four, verse four, in response to the devil's dentation,
-
man shall not leave by bread alone, but by every
-
word that proceeds from the mouth of God. We cannot
-
and must not, under any circumstance neglect the Word if
-
we are to prosper and thrive in God's purpose for us.
-
In much the same way as we put in effort
-
and consideration into physically feeding ourselves every day, we must
-
also dedicate ourselves to daily feeding ourselves on the Word. Also,
-
if you are not sure how to even begin to
-
reach the one who made everything and gives life, then
-
please know that it begins by simply saying a sincere
-
prayer of repentance and reconciliation, by acknowledging you are a sinner,
-
accent for and receiving pardon from God through the sacrifice
-
of Jesus Christ, and accepting Jesus Christ into your heart
-
as your Lord and savior. A man. Let us take
-
our memories for today from John chapter six, verse sixty three.
-
John chapter six, verse sixty three, reading from the New
-
King James version. It is the spirit who gives life.
-
The flesh offers nothing. The worst that I speak to
-
you are spirit, and they are life. It is the
-
spirit who gives life. The flesh profess nothing. The worst
-
that I speak to you are spirit and the air life.
-
A man, let us kind of share a word of prayer. Father,
-
we thank you for your word for us today. We
-
thank you for the privilege to be called your children
-
and for your word that you have made available to us.
-
Help us commit to daily feeding ourselves on your word,
-
and as we do so, please reveal yourself to us
-
and help us to prosper and thrive as we work
-
according to your purpose for our lives in Jesus's mighty name,
-
with pray, with thus giving a man, thank you for
-
listening and for staying tune for today's episode. You want
-
to still stay connected as we have more spirit fueled
-
content on Radio ACAI today until we come your way
-
once again tomorrow morning. At the same time, do I'm
-
still blessed and have a blessed and fruitful day in
-
