-
with God Save and Reverend Doctor Joseph ba Being, Head
-
Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Commercy. And now to today's message.
-
Amen, Let's take a confession from Joshua and best eight
-
best book of the Law, Shallow depart out of my mouth,
-
that I shall meditate in a day and night, that
-
I may observe to do according to all that just
-
rated it. But then I will make my way prospers,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen, as we
-
welcome each other into the presence of God, and we
-
are moving on to a new theme. We want to
-
move on to a new theme and through our last month.
-
We we're looking at how best we can bring order
-
into our conversations in May. And as we always like
-
to point out, the fact that we move on to
-
a new theme doesn't necessarily mean that that subject is over.
-
It means that it should be burning behind as we
-
move from one thematic area and to the other. And
-
it is all these thematic areas that is ultimately going
-
to form a whole and help us to be the
-
men and the women that God has called us to be. Amen.
-
The emphasies throughout the discourses in the past, Man, when
-
we talked about all that in our conversations, was the
-
necessity for a total and unconditional surrender to the authority
-
and the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Amen.
-
More or less, we are saying that if our bonn
-
again experience, or our submission to the authority of the
-
world of God and the Holy Spirit, it is partial
-
and conditioner, and most of it when it is partial
-
condition Now we enter into a time of war with
-
the Spirit of the Lord and say that I'm going to,
-
you know, God, something I'm going to choose and pick.
-
They are some of the things that they come quite
-
naturally and easy for me to do, I'm going to
-
do it. But the other ones that doesn't come naturally
-
and easy for me to do, when I find out
-
that there's a certain form of resistance within my mind,
-
my heart and all that, then I'm not going to
-
do it. And anytime that we do that and we
-
make and the word of God conditioner, and we begin
-
to pick and choose, we are hindering ourselves from seeing
-
the full explosion of the power of God in our lives.
-
And we cannot be the men and the women that
-
God has called us to be when we begin to
-
pick and choose. Indeed, like the Bible says, and when
-
Jesus taught about the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit, and
-
it is God's chief resource to us, he comes not
-
only as our teacher, but also as our coach, our advocate,
-
our counselor. And so he comes to help us, if
-
you like, let me put it this way. The Holy
-
Spirit comes to help us not just navigate around, you know,
-
the tough you know, portions of the scripture, but he
-
comes to be a bed and bearer, to be our
-
source of encourage, you know, particularly when we have to
-
navigate around those tough areas in our own lives. What
-
may be tough for you may not be tough for
-
somebody else who have allowed the spirit of the Lord
-
to order his or her footsteps and to navigate those
-
funny areas that you are now in, Harlene Luier, Amen.
-
And that is what, if you like, is going to
-
mark the difference between those who are growing maturing in
-
the Lord as compared to those who grow to a
-
certain place and then stagnate. And there's no room for stagnation.
-
You will decay, Amen, you will decay. It's a lifetime battle.
-
And at any point in time, if you stop, if
-
you cease fighting, if you cease learning, if you seize
-
obeying and working out the truth, you stagnate, Halene Luier, Amen,
-
Because that's what I'm saying. We don't yield, we are
-
not going to grow and mature in the Lord. Then
-
you could for or fail. Amen. You would fail, and
-
you would fail Hardy Louier. And once again let's remember,
-
you know how or the fact that it is not
-
our lives but his life, and it is for that
-
specific reason that he sends his spirit to take residence
-
in us, to come alongside of us to hold our hands,
-
to be our biggest fan base and cheer giver that
-
you can do it, and sometimes we forget it is
-
all because of the prize, the prize at stake. God knows,
-
God desires for all his children, as many as the
-
Bible says, the Lord our God shall call, as many
-
as the Lord our God shall call the promise of
-
the Holy bitter told the crowd in our chapter two
-
day half of us, and as many us will believe
-
afar off and will come to faith the promise of
-
the helps, supernatural healths of the Holy Spirit. It's for
-
them all. Halene Loujah. Amen. And he comes in if
-
you like, like I said, to help us live his life.
-
God borrows this casket of clay of ours and takes
-
residence in the believer's heart and life, and then all
-
our footsteps Halen Lujah Amen. So that is it. He
-
borrows our bodies to live his life in and through us.
-
And when we resist, then there's no way he can
-
help us. Amen. Jesus wants to be both Lord, not
-
just savior, but savior and Lord in our lives, every
-
believer life. Jesus wants to be not just savior about Lord,
-
you understand, Lord Master, hallelujah A may And as we've
-
been pointing out, as we are learning, there's a lot
-
of work to be done in the life of every believer.
-
It's a lifetime work every believer, a lot of work
-
to be done. And that is why, like we are saying,
-
he sends his Holy Spirit into hours to make God
-
real and tangible. God. The Holy Spirit comes to make
-
God real and tangible to each and everyone. He is
-
responsible for the proofs that we need. He's responsible for
-
those visions, those dreams, those peculiar manifestations of His life
-
and presence about in and around every believer's life that
-
makes us rise up and says, I believe. I believe,
-
I believe, and somebody in the people who do. That's
-
the mystery of the godly life. And people are just wondering,
-
what has this person seen? What is he here? Why?
-
Where does it get and deride the power to live
-
this life the presence of the Holy Spirit. And until
-
you begin to experience, and you will be deley dialing
-
around the faith and it's not going to help you.
-
You have to reach out in faith. You just have
-
to take the word of God by its faith ballot
-
and cry out for help, and just do it even
-
when you think you don't understand it. The word, the
-
authority of the Word should be sufficient to us to
-
demand or elicit our obedience. And then the whole reality
-
dawns on us. And then now we are not like Paul.
-
We say we begin to take you know, meaningful strives,
-
and we are no longer shadow boxing. I know my
-
Redeemer live, I know my savior list. I know that
-
he's going to come one day, and I know that
-
with my eyes, with my face, I will see why.
-
Because you have the evidence with me and you do everything.
-
It's not the responsibility of any pastor, it's not my response.
-
The responsibility of the Holy Spirit to make Christ manifest
-
to you and every child. They will do it. Once again,
-
we getting to the roots. We need it, we need it,
-
We need Godle's work to be meaningful and real. Ell
-
somewhere along the line you're throwing the towel Halen Lujah, Amen.
-
And then not just at the top of the list,
-
like we always like to point up all the graces
-
and all the virtues and resources that the Holy Spirit brings.
-
Is the need or the ability to descend the voice
-
of God. Halenluier, Amen. It's very very important. And once
-
again we've been giving the A. B c's it's not
-
just going to happen if you neglect your quiet time.
-
Just do what you can do, or we have been
-
implored upon to do. Do your quieter, read your Bible
-
every day, pray every day, go to church when you
-
come to church, sing when they are singing, Amen, clap
-
when they are clap. Participate in the life of the church.
-
As we continue to cry out for meaning, You'll just
-
be doing it. And God, who is responsible for the signs,
-
the proof that we need, the tangibility that we need,
-
our help anchor faith, he will do that, Harley Louier.
-
And remember, like you are saying, God deems us to
-
be imitated and image bearers of himself. Haled Luier, Amen.
-
And as we are saying, before we can become the
-
image bearest of God, we are talking. We are still
-
talking about all that in our giving. I'm yes, see
-
how west I'm going to tailor of it into it, Harleeyluier.
-
So we are still there, we are on track, Harleed Louia, Amen.
-
Because it all comes to back to that amen before
-
this our ability to be ordered by the spirit of
-
God to work in obedience to him. We have said it,
-
and we are learning, and we are emphasizing again the needed,
-
absolute need to disconstruct the old man. He said, even
-
a man being Christ, he is a new creature. The
-
old is gone and all things are new. And let
-
me say this, it is urgent business. The old man
-
has to be put off and the new man put on.
-
See it as agent, very very urgent halln Loujah. He may,
-
because the old man he cannot receive instructions from God.
-
You and I know before we said yea and yes
-
to Jesus, we didn't like God. We didn't like church,
-
we didn't like believers, we didn't like church goers. He may.
-
And so if you don't destroy the old man, it's
-
the same you before you realize Satan wise and every time,
-
just like that. The Israeli is when they left Egypt,
-
they abandoned Egypt. Can you imagine it, that Pharaoh and
-
these people that's by all the devastating effects of the temples,
-
he did to chase the people again, just to tell
-
you for us that what goes on in the New Testament.
-
He would chase us again. You are gone by. It's
-
on the church Halene Lujah. And so God gets his
-
last life and we cross over to the other side,
-
and so we live this life. Say down, will be
-
at our heels and chase us to get us back
-
to Egypt so that we can save him and put
-
that yo back upon us that you of serving. He's
-
not happy that we have escaped. Harley Louis. Amen. That's
-
what I'm saying. Is agen business. The old man has
-
to be put off and the new man put on.
-
And that's a lot of work to do. But time flee.
-
The Holy Spirit is given to age believer or child
-
of God to facilitate the enormous task that needs to
-
be done. I want you to say a big amen.
-
He will help you. It doesn't matter how you are saying.
-
All they say the old man bars for me, my
-
old man. M If I want to talk about my
-
old man, everybody will here about their heads. No, it
-
doesn't matter that old money. How distorted he distorted your
-
psyche and everything in Christ, she said, he said, greater
-
is he that is in us than he that is
-
out there in the world. All that he needs is
-
our cooperation. That's the difference. You can't be delivered. It
-
doesn't matter what it is. You can't believe it. You
-
can't be delivered. Every vice, every wrong attitude, you can't
-
be delivered. Why are you going to cooperate? The only
-
spired just needs our cooperation. And then that old man
-
who will be dealt with, Halen Lowier. Amen. God will
-
do his part and supply the graces that we need.
-
But you and I we must be determined. We must
-
have determination on our part so that the partner she
-
can work well for advantage. Amen. And like we said,
-
we must go to school, Harly Louier. We must go
-
to school, the School of the Spirit, and we must
-
attend classes regularly and learn from the Holy Spirit how
-
to nor how to communicate with each other, Harlenluier and
-
all that he has taught us, Harly Luier. Amen. Amen.
-
And one of the hard truths and lessons that we
-
will be learning in the School of the Spirit is
-
our giving life. Amen, Our giving life, Harlely Louier. And
-
now we've been learning here three tis our time, our talents,
-
and our treasures. Hallelujah. God saves us and redeems us
-
so that we can give back to him the life
-
that he redeems. He wants us to give that life
-
back to him. Second Corinthians five, verse fifteen, before we
-
come to seventeen, or that possible came to seventeen and
-
told us that the old man is gone, and behold
-
all things and listen to him. In Second Corinthians five
-
point fifteen as a preamble to the distraction of the
-
old man. And then if you like the outdooring of
-
the new man, he says this, and he died for
-
all that those who live might no longer live for themselves,
-
but for him who for their sake died and most raised.
-
That's why we say it's a life of exchange. Amen, hallelujah.
-
He died for all that those who lived might no
-
longer live for themselves, but for him who for their
-
sake died. That's three halle Louis Yeah. Amen. In the
-
spiritual or the cosmic world, lots of things are taking place,
-
Lots of battles takes place over the life of every believer,
-
even after redemption. As I said, Satan is out are
-
here trying to get us back and to lock his
-
in harlen lujah, Amen, and Because of that, I'm talking
-
about the need for us to rise up, just rise up.
-
The spiritual warfare. For believer, it's a lifetime. It's a
-
lifetime or spiritual warfare we talk about. It's not when
-
we are doing first thing and praying the Lord or
-
I pip that we are engaging in spiritual warfare. Every
-
morning when you wake up and you are going on
-
your knees, you're asking God to help you, like the
-
apostle purse. Therefore, put on the full armor of God
-
during that quiet time. God will bring that son, daughter,
-
Can you put it on so that we can withstand
-
the wilds of the devil, that's the schemes of the devil,
-
the wows of the devil. And he said, I've been
-
done all to stand because we are not worrying against
-
flesh and black, but against principalities and powers, spiritual forces
-
of darkness. Harled Luyer and the spiritual affair. It's for
-
a lifetime, halened Louia. And like we say, where is
-
the fight being fought? You could see in your mind
-
or in the heart, in your mind or in the
-
the Bible says, out of the abundance of the heart,
-
the mouth speaks halened Louyer. Amen. Before we came to Christ,
-
we were exposed to a certain way of life that's simply,
-
like I mentioned, it wants to have nothing to do
-
with God or the Word of go Hallelujah Amen. And
-
we had learned a lot of ways of the world,
-
Satan's philosophy, the way and manner he compelled us to
-
live in defiance of the Word of God, and we
-
all lived it out. Halee luia. But then once we
-
come to Christ, then, like he says, that the old
-
is gone, everything is new, Halleluiah, Amen. And so in
-
this man's as we are looking at yet another. We
-
are looking at a very very important subject of bringing
-
order in our giving life as individuals, as families, and
-
I believe in as a church. Halleluia. And our text
-
is taken from Matthew chapter six, verse twenty four. Can
-
we now pick it up. So those are some of
-
the truths that we have lent. Like I said, we
-
are tailed oving all our conversations, our conversations with God,
-
order in our prayer, ordering conversations with one another. And
-
now we're going to look at how we can bring
-
order to our giving life and can we put it
-
in context? Now, let's start from verse nineteen and then
-
come to twenty four, just a little context. And he says,
-
do not lay out for yourselves treasures on earth, where
-
mouth and rust destroyed, and where thieves break in and
-
steal twenty But layer for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
-
neither moth nor rast destroys, and were thieves. Do not
-
break in and steal. Where your treasure is there, your
-
heart will be also twenty two. The lamp of the
-
body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good,
-
your whole body will be full of life. Twenty three.
-
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will
-
be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is
-
in you is darkness, how great is that darkness? And
-
then he says that no one can save two masters,
-
for either he will hate the one and love the other,
-
or else he will lawyer to the one and despise
-
the other. You cannot save God, and mammon, Amen. He's
-
talking about being divided, die vision, save God, or save man.
-
And already before in nineteen was thinking about the treasures
-
he knows. And in this verse yea, he says, you
-
cannot save God. And mammon mamone was the name for
-
the god or the spirit behind wealth, money or property
-
in Jesus' day, how they do here and so by
-
so saying, he was talking about the under geathering, you know,
-
spirit behind the drive the quest for money, at the
-
exclusion of the same drive passion and enthusiasm for God.
-
In a in a way, Jesus was trying to let
-
us draw our attention. Look, if we put the same zeal, passion,
-
enthusiasm in our sech for God as we do for money,
-
we will find him. And this one, let me say
-
a few think here and do what I believe we
-
should do this night, and then lay the foundation for
-
our subsequent talks. Is the fact that this is part
-
of what he said during the Semon on the Mount.
-
So Matthew chapter five, six and seven. The gospel writer
-
Matthew sets in place what Bible scholars and the church
-
or the Christian Bible students and scholars have come to know,
-
and called the Salmon on the Mount Harlen Louis, and
-
the Salmon on the Mount, we could call it eve
-
you like a code of ethics for believers. Jesus in
-
the Salmon on the mound sets out kingdom ethics, kingdom ethos, culture,
-
and principles that God expects to see in the life
-
of his children. And I just want us to read there.
-
I look at it. There are seventy two verses before
-
we get to these twenty four. So we are going
-
to attempt to read all these seventy two verses, you know,
-
so that we can get the backdrop, you know, of
-
where money comes in. And I have yet that. But
-
don't take me on because I've not ready anywhere. If
-
I'm wrong, it is me that I'm wrong. The same
-
one on the mount can be cited as one of
-
the longest lecture times or sessions that Jesus had with
-
his disciples here on earth. I don't know it said five, six, seven,
-
and from five and six to twenty four alone, I've
-
counted seventy two verses, and we have to continue from
-
there to the end of chapter six and then chapter seven,
-
and all these things from the gospel I can't seem
-
to have been one long lecture or session. And I've
-
told you, amen, it was a session where he lay
-
clearly the kingdom principles that God wants or expects to
-
be seen in his disciples or larous. And remember who
-
the disciple is. The disciple is someone who is falling
-
a rabbi so that he can be coached, mentor taught
-
and hopefully become just like his rabbi. That's why we
-
call disciples were larous. Amen. Jesus came to teach and
-
to do We'll read it somewhere Halleluier, so the Bible says.
-
And seeing the multi use, he went up on the mountain,
-
and when he was seated, look at the people who
-
came to it. His disciples. His disciples came to him.
-
So it wasn't just the crowd, but particularly his disciples
-
was the focus of this rather long lecture. Three chapters,
-
three long chapters, Hall the Lawyer. Amen.
