Shalom beloved, you are welcome to today's morning glory devotion.
-
We are Pastor and Deaconess Kielsen from the Harvest Chapel International,
-
Denyame Kumasi, and we are excited to be bringing to
-
you another episode of our morning glory devotion. Let us
-
kindly share a word of prayer. Our Heavenly Father, we
-
thank you for the blessing of a new day. As
-
we prepare to hear your word, we invite your Holy
-
Spirit to guide us. Please open our hearts and our
-
minds and let your presence illuminate our understanding so that
-
our lives will be deeply transformed by what we are
-
about to hear. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. Let us
-
kindly take our confession for today from Joshua 1.8. Joshua 1.8.
-
This book of the law shall not depart from my mouth,
-
but I shall meditate in it day and night, that
-
I may observe to do according to all that is
-
written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen. Today's message
-
is titled, After the Answer, After the Answer, written by Ms.
-
Amanda Beidou. Our scripture readings shall be taken from 1
-
Samuel 1, the verse 19-20, and then 1 Samuel 2,
-
the verse 18-21, 1 Samuel 1, the verse 19-20, and
-
then 1 Samuel chapter 2, verse 18 to 21. I
-
will be reading from the New King James Version. 1
-
Samuel chapter 1, verse 19 to 20. Then they rose
-
early in the morning, and worshipped before the Lord, and
-
returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah
-
knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. So
-
it came to pass in the process of time, that
-
Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying,
-
Because I have asked for him from the Lord. Amen.
-
But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child,
-
wearing a linen ephod. His mother used to make him
-
a little robe and bring it to him year by
-
year when she came up with her husband to offer
-
the yearly sacrifice. And Eli would bless Elkanah and his
-
wife and say, The Lord give you descendants from this
-
woman for the loan that was given to the Lord.
-
Then they would go to their own home. And the
-
Lord visited Hannah. so that she conceived and bore three
-
sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the child Samuel grew before
-
the Lord. The Lord add his blessings to the reading
-
and hearing of this word. Thanks be to God. Amen.
-
After the Answer After the Answer Beloved, The Lord is
-
a prayer answering God and he will perform what he
-
has promised to us. However, we have a responsibility to
-
remain committed to him even after he has answered our prayer.
-
The story is told in 1 Samuel of how Hannah
-
pleaded with the Lord for a child. Year after year,
-
her family went up to Shiloh for yearly sacrifices and worship.
-
She was taunted constantly about her barrenness and she continued
-
to persevere in prayer for a child. The Lord answered
-
and gave her a child Samuel, whom she dedicated to
-
the Lord, and later became one of the great prophets
-
of Israel. Beloved, it is worth noting that Hannah did
-
not stop going to Shiloh yearly even after giving birth
-
to Samuel. Her commitment was even greater as she went
-
to give her child robes year after year, and the
-
Lord further blessed her with more children. When we are
-
waiting on the Lord for a miracle, there is a
-
fervency and commitment we often have because of the burden
-
or need. Many of us are seen constantly committed to
-
the things of God, willing to serve in his house
-
and even make vows to him. But oftentimes, after he
-
answers our prayer, our commitment wanes and we become busy,
-
prioritizing other things in our lives at the expense of
-
our service to God. Beloved, our service to God must
-
not only be tied to what he does for us. Rather,
-
our service to him should be because we are His
-
servants who truly love Him and want to obey Him.
-
Let us take an inventory of our lives. Are we
-
spending less time with God after He granted us that job,
-
that child, or that opportunity? Is our secret place with
-
God still fervent after He answered a certain prayer? Are
-
we still burning with passion for the things of God
-
Or are we preoccupied with the same things He blessed
-
us with? Beloved, we must endeavor to continue to labor
-
day and night in serving God, before, during, and after
-
He answers our prayers. After the answered prayers, may we
-
be found with even greater passion serving the Lord with
-
all of our lives until He calls us home. Amen.
-
Let us kindly take our memory verse for today. Our
-
memory verse shall be taken from Romans chapter 12, the
Romans 12 chapter mention
-
verse 11. Romans 12, the verse 11. I will be
-
reading from the New King James Version. Never be lacking
-
in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
-
never be lacking in you but keep your spiritual fervor,
-
serving the Lord. Amen. Let us kindly share a word
-
of prayer. Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your
-
faithfulness and for being a God who consistently hears and
-
answers our prayers. We ask you for forgiveness for the
-
times we have allowed the very blessings you have given
-
us to distract us from serving you. Please ignite us
-
with fresh fire today so that our commitment to you
-
will not wane when our requests are granted. Help us
-
to serve you with even greater passion and love, faithfully
-
seeking your presence before, during and after our requests have
-
been granted. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. Precious one, our
-
devotion and service to God must not be tied only
-
to what he does for us. Let us ensure that
-
our commitment remains fervent even after our prayers have been answered. Amen.
-
