  10. God richly bless you.

  11. And you say....

  12. Welcome to Logos Rima R with God's servant, Rev.

  13. Dr.

  14. Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,

  15. to today's message.

  16. Let's take our confession, Joshua 1 verse 8.

    Joshua 1:8

  17. This book of the Lord shall not depart out of

  18. my mouth.

  19. But I shall meditate in it day and night, that

  20. I may observe to do according to all that is

  21. written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,

  22. and then I will have good success.

  23. Amen.

  24. Why don't you take your seats in his presence. Turn

  25. to somebody and say, remember the Lord your God.

  26. Hallelujah.

  27. Hallelujah.

  28. We want to continue with our discourses on bringing order

  29. into our given life.

  30. Hallelujah.

  31. Let's pick it up from Deuteronomy chapter 7, even though.

    Deuteronomy 7 chapter mention

  32. 8 is where we are going.

  33. Once again, the backdrop helps you a lot, isn't it,

  34. to understand. So let's quickly, if I may teach in

  35. the impromptu, I said we want to read through.

  36. There are 26 verses there.

  37. If I'm able to do that, I look at the timing,

  38. maybe about seven minutes, we should read through all.

  39. And then we'll pick up the lessons later. It says,

  40. when the.

  41. Lord your God, follow me, brings you into the land, listen,

  42. which you go to possess. This was before, this was

  43. the second reading of the law before Moses was buried

  44. by God.

  45. Amen.

  46. And now he's recapping all that God had said, all

  47. that God had done. And at the centrality is the word.

  48. That's what Jesus was literally doing in the Sermon on

  49. the Mount.

  50. As I said, the values. It has to change. It's words.

  51. The power of words. There's life. There's death in it.

  52. And God is speaking life-giving words to them.

  53. Listen.

  54. He said, when the Lord your God brings you into

  55. the land which you go to possess and has cast

  56. out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Gergashites,

  57. and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and

  58. the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier

  59. than you, verse 2. And when the Lord your God

  60. delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and

  61. utterly destroy them.

  62. You shall make.

  63. No covenant with them, nor show mercy to them. Three,

  64. nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not

  65. give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter

  66. for your son.

  67. For they will turn your sons.

  68. Away from following me to serve other gods. So the

  69. anger of the Lord will be aroused against you and

  70. destroy you sadly.

  71. But thus you shall deal with them.

  72. You shall destroy their altars and break down their sacred

  73. pillars and cut down their wooden images and burn their carved.

  74. Images with fire. Six, for.

  75. You are a holy people to the Lord your God.

  76. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a

  77. people for himself. a special treasure above all the peoples

  78. of the face of the earth. So you're not going

  79. to imbibe the value systems of the world, where the

  80. spirit of Mammon is what is leading and driving people

  81. to the detriment of the chase for God. And then

  82. he says, what profit shall it be to a man

  83. if you shall gain the whole world and lose your soul?

  84. And like he told that rich man who decided to

  85. destroy his barns so that he could build bigger ones.

  86. And then he says, I'm going to take my time

  87. and enjoy. And he said, Jesus was looking at him.

  88. God said, you fool. Today, your life and your soul

  89. will be required. You will be required to come and

  90. join me and keep an account. And whose possessions will

  91. they be? And you look around and all the rich men,

  92. all the rich men, they are dying.

  93. And you are saying that minus me. No. It's the

  94. value system.

  95. God is not saying that. Look at what God did.

  96. God is not anti-wealth.

  97. No.

  98. Else he couldn't be boasting that the silver and the

  99. gold is mine. And all the cattle on a thousand hills.

  100. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen.

  101. So he says, for you are a holy people to

  102. the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen

  103. you to be a people for himself, a special treasure above.

  104. All the peoples on the face of the earth.

  105. Seven, the Lord did not set his love on you

  106. nor choose you because you were more in number than

  107. any other people. For you were the least of all peoples,

  108. but because the Lord loves you and because he would

  109. keep the oath which he swore to your fathers. The

  110. Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and

  111. redeemed you from the house of bondage from the hand

  112. of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

  113. Therefore, know that the Lord your.

  114. God, he is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant

  115. And mercy for a thousand generations with those who love

  116. him and keep his commandments. You love God, you bring time, talent,

  117. and treasures on board, and you serve him. Not some

  118. of the days of your life, but all the days

  119. of your life. You will know that he has redeemed

  120. you from a certain bondage.

  121. Hallelujah.

  122. And he repairs those who hate him to their face.

  123. You think God is just God, love, love, love, love.

  124. Listen to him. God is thoughtful. Look and listen to God.

  125. Moses says, and he repairs those who hate him to

  126. their face, to destroy them.

  127. He will not be slack with him who hates him.

  128. He will repair him to his face.

  129. Therefore, because of what I have said, you shall keep the.

  130. Commandments, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you

  131. today to observe them.

  132. Then it shall come to pass.

  133. Because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them,

  134. that the Lord your God will keep with you the

  135. covenant and the mercy which is swore to your fathers.

  136. 13.

  137. And he will love you and bless you and multiply you.

  138. He will also bless the fruit of your womb. Are

  139. you reading it? And the fruit of your land. Your

  140. grain and your new wine and your oil. What is

  141. God doing? Increasing their wealth, giving them wealth, bestowing it.

  142. He said it's undeserved. I will do it for you.

  143. You don't have to deserve it. He said you are

  144. special to me not because you were numerous. I just

  145. love you, period. Look at where you are coming from.

  146. There were two or three of us on the streets,

  147. but God handpicked you and saved you. Hallelujah.

  148. Hallelujah.

  149. He says, and your grain and your new wine and

  150. your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring

  151. of your flock in the land of which he swore

  152. to your fathers to give you. So you understand it.

  153. God is not anti-wealth.

  154. Let's go on.

  155. He said, you shall be blessed above all peoples. There

  156. shall not be a male or female barren among you

  157. or among your livestock. And the Lord will Take away,

  158. because you need this health. You need health vitality. You

  159. need vigor to enjoy the blessings.

  160. Look at God. As if he knew. Hallelujah.

  161. And he's telling us, even when you have created the world,

  162. you need peace of mind to be able to enjoy it.

  163. You need health.

  164. And like Mammy was preaching this morning, before the doctors

  165. tell you, you can't eat this, you can't eat that,

  166. you can't eat that.

  167. Hallelujah. Amen.

  168. And the Lord will take from you all sickness and

  169. will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of

  170. Egypt which you have known. But I will lay them

  171. on all those who hate you. 16.

  172. And you shall.

  173. Destroy all the peoples whom the Lord your God delivers

  174. over to you. Your eyes shall have no pity on them,

  175. nor shall you serve their gods, for that will be

  176. a snare to you.

  177. 17.

  178. And if you should say in your heart, these nations

  179. are greater than I, How can I dispossess them? You

  180. shall not be afraid of them, but you shall remember

  181. well that what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh

  182. and to all Egypt, the great trials which your eyes saw,

  183. the signs and the wonders, the mighty hand and the

  184. outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out,

  185. so shall the Lord your God do to all.

  186. The peoples of whom you are afraid. Hallelujah.

  187. Moreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet among

  188. them until those who are left, who hide themselves from you,

  189. are destroyed.

  190. 21.

  191. You shall not be terrified of them, for the Lord

  192. your God, the great and awesome God, is among you.

  193. Hallelujah.

  194. And the Lord your God will drive out all those

  195. nations before you little by little.

  196. Little by little. Little by little. Hallelujah. And you will

  197. be unable to destroy them at once. Amen.

  198. So we are on track. Turn to somebody and say

  199. you are on track. Little by little we will get there.

  200. Hallelujah.

  201. If we continue to serve and to repose faith and

  202. trust in God and obey the commandments and bring time, talent,

  203. and treasure and serve, serve God with a childlike heart

  204. and attitude and see what God will do in your life.

  205. Hallelujah.

  206. He says you will be unable to destroy them at

  207. once lest the bits of the field.

  208. Become too numerous for you. God of process. Now 23,

  209. we're going to 26.

  210. But the Lord your God will deliver them over to

  211. you and will inflict defeat upon them until they are destroyed.

  212. 24.

  213. And he will deliver their kings into your hand and

  214. he will destroy their name from under heaven. No one

  215. shall be able to stand against you until you have

  216. destroyed them.

  217. 25.

  218. He shall bend the carved images of their gods with fire.

  219. He shall not convert the silver of gold that is

  220. on them nor take it for yourself, lest you be

  221. snared by it, for it is an abomination to the

  222. Lord your God. 26, nor shall you bring an abomination

  223. into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it.

  224. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for

  225. it is an accursed thing.

  226. So that is seven. That's the background.

  227. Now let's go to chapter eight. This is the chapter

  228. of concern for this morning. It says, Every commandment, underline

  229. verse 1, every commandment which I command you today on

  230. the pathway, how to get into the world, divine world,

  231. it has no sorrow to it, which I command you today,

  232. you must be careful to observe that you may live

  233. and multiply. And go in and possess the land of

  234. which the Lord swore to your fathers.

  235. Verse 2.

  236. And you shall remember that the Lord your God led

  237. you all the way these 40 years.

  238. In the wilderness. Number one, to humble you. Number two,

  239. to test you.

  240. To know what was in your heart. Whether you would

  241. keep his commandments or not.

  242. So he humbled you.

  243. Allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which

  244. you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that

  245. he might make you know that man shall not live

  246. by bread alone, but man lives by every word that

  247. proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Your garments, now listen,

  248. take note of this miraculous intervention. He said, your garments

  249. did not wear out on you for 40 years. 40 years,

  250. 40 years, because there were no shops in the wilderness.

  251. What did God do? Change of clothing, continue. Can you

  252. wrap your mind around it?

  253. Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did

  254. your foot swell these 40 years.

  255. Hey, they wore one cloth for 40 years, and it

  256. was still new. Why?

  257. You should know in your heart that as a man

  258. chastens his son, So the Lord your God chastens you.

  259. Discipline. Therefore you shall keep.

  260. The commandments of the Lord your God to walk in

  261. his ways and to fear him.

  262. Seven.

  263. For the Lord your God, now listen, is bringing you

  264. into a good land.

  265. A land of.

  266. Brooks of water, of fountains and springs that flow out

  267. of valleys and hills.

  268. Eight.

  269. A land of wheat and barley. Of vines and fig

  270. trees and pomegranates. A land of olive oil and honey.

  271. Nine.

  272. A land in which you will eat bread without scarcity.

  273. In which you will lack nothing. A land whose stones

  274. are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.

  275. Ten.

  276. When you have eaten enough food. He said, ask for

  277. this one. God has done it already. And he will

  278. do more. But you, the problem about the wealth thing,

  279. it is not God.

  280. It is we. It is we.

  281. He says, when you have eaten enough food, then you

  282. shall bless the Lord your God for the good land

  283. which he has given you. That's divine expectation when you

  284. come into wealth. But beware that you do not forget

  285. the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, his judgments,

  286. and his statutes which I command you today.

  287. 12.

  288. Lest. When you have eaten and have food and have

  289. built beautiful houses and dwell in them. And when your

  290. heads and your flocks multiply and your silver and your

  291. gold are multiplied and all that you have is multiplied.

  292. When your heart is lifted up and you forget the

  293. Lord your God who brought you out of the land

  294. of Egypt from the house of bondage. 15. Who led

  295. you through that great and terrible wilderness. in which were

  296. fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was

  297. no water, who brought water for you out of the

  298. flinty rock.

  299. 16.

  300. Who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your

  301. fathers did not know, that he might humble you and

  302. that he might test you to do you good in

  303. the end.

  304. Then you say in your heart.

  305. My power and the might of my hand have gained

  306. me this wealth, and you shall remember. the Lord your God,

  307. for it is he who gives you power to get well,

  308. that he may establish his covenant, which is sworn to

  309. your fathers, as it is this day, 19. Then it

  310. shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord

  311. your God, and follow other gods, and serve them, and

  312. worship them. So now you are saying, when Jesus said,

  313. it's not possible for you to serve God and my mom.

  314. By so saying, He was saying there's a spirit behind

  315. the chase for wealth.

  316. But hold on, the wealth is mine. So if you

  317. chase me, you have chased wealth. If you chase me

  318. for me alone, that is a surety and a guarantee

  319. for your life to be blessed. So why go and

  320. chase money alone at the exclusion of God? Because when

  321. you have God, you have all the wealth. Turn to

  322. somebody and you are a heir of God. Turn to

  323. another person. You are a head of a very rich, very,

  324. very rich person. Isn't that what the scriptures say? But

  325. it's a process. What did he say? Little by little,

  326. little by little.

  327. You come in. Hallelujah. Amen.

  328. And before he brought them, we are reading all the tests.

  329. He said, to look you, I need to know what

  330. is in your heart, whether you be loyal. Some of us,

  331. when the little blessing, immediately you landed that good job,

  332. off you go.

  333. You didn't know God. You don't know God.

  334. Then it shall be if you by any means forget

  335. the Lord your God.

  336. Now listen to him.

  337. And follow other gods and serve them and worship them.

  338. Listen to God.

  339. I testify against you this day. You shall surely perish.

  340. You shall surely perish. You won't have the liberty and

  341. the joy to. And sometimes I see some people in church.

  342. And when they say they are blessed. I say you

  343. are blessed and you are not happy. And you are

  344. not serving God.

  345. I find it.

  346. I can't understand it. You are blessed by who? God.

  347. You say it. And then you walk away from serving

  348. at the altars of God. When I see somebody like that,

  349. because you don't know.

  350. You don't know God. Then it shall be.

  351. If you by any means forget the Lord your God

  352. and follow other gods and serve them and worship them,

  353. I testify against.

  354. You this day.

  355. You shall surely perish. As the nations which the Lord

  356. destroys before you, so shall you perish. Because you would

  357. not be obedient to the voice of the Lord your God.

  358. You would not be obedient to the voice of the Lord. Amen.

  359. So can we go to one? Can we just do one?

  360. Just let me, if not, I guess, if I start

  361. in there, we'll take, we'll take. The whole commandment, it

  362. says that, verse 1. Yes, every commandment, let me use

  363. the ESV. He said, the whole commandment that I command

  364. you today, you shall be careful to do that you

  365. may live and multiply and go in and possess the

  366. land that the Lord.

  367. Swore to give your fathers. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.

  368. So when you see, so he says that the first

  369. thing he talks here about is that you must know

  370. the Lord and what he stands for.

  371. Amen.

  372. What? A committed devotion. life will reveal to you. You

  373. can't walk with God for long if you don't know God.

  374. God has a set of ideals. And that's what the

  375. Bible tells us.

  376. His story.

  377. God has a blueprint why he created the world. He

  378. didn't create the wealth that he has created in Genesis

  379. when Moses told him all that God. He didn't create

  380. it so that we will begin to idolize the worship

  381. of wealth to the exclusion of God. So that is

  382. why he will say the silver and the gold, they

  383. are mine. And he's trying to tell them, look, all

  384. that we read, I will give it to you.

  385. But it's to be used for my purposes. It is

  386. my wealth. Hallelujah. Amen.

  387. So God has his values, ideals, and principles that are

  388. enshrined in the word. God is a holy God. God

  389. is not a man. God is not a man. God

  390. is not a man.

  391. Yeah, church. God is not a man. You never can

  392. serve God on your terms. Hallelujah.

  393. And he wants all his children to learn these values

  394. and principles and practice them.

  395. Hallelujah. Amen.

  396. And as I said, many children or citizens in the

  397. kingdom don't yet understand and appreciate it.

  398. Amen.

  399. Abraham will say the possessor of heaven and earth. You

  400. know why David was able to give him all? And

  401. then when you look at 1 Corinthians 29, verse 10,

  402. go in and David talking about God.

  403. Let me read it.

  404. And then 1 Chronicles 29, verse 10. Somebody who knew

    1 Chronicles 29:10

  405. God so much. And then we'll read it and continue

  406. on from verse 1 on Wednesday. 1 Chronicles 29, verse 10.

    1 Chronicles 29:10

  407. Listen to David. Listen to David. Verse 11. Verse 11.

  408. Yours, O God, is the greatness and the power and

  409. the glory and the victory and the majesty for all

  410. that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours.

  411. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted

  412. as head above all. Twelve, both riches and honor come

  413. from you and you rule over all. In your hand

  414. are power and might. And in your hand it is

  415. to make great and to give strength to all.

  416. In your hand. In your hand.

  417. Both riches and honor come from you and you rule

  418. over all. In your hand are power and might and

  419. in your hand it is to make great and to

  420. give strength to all.

  421. 13.

  422. And now we thank you our God and praise your

  423. glorious name. This was the occasion when they were raising

  424. money for Solomon to build the temple. And then The

  425. people are giving and he's just exalting God. Now verse 14.

  426. Listen further to him. He said, But who am I

  427. and what is my people that we should be able

  428. thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you

  429. and of your own have we given you. The wealth

  430. that you have, that small pocket money, is it God's?

  431. Think about it. God is challenging our thoughts. That's what

  432. we are talking. Jesus is talking about the value system

  433. of the kingdom citizens is different. We all in him

  434. will live and move and have our being. Anything, even

  435. the pocket money, it is yours.

  436. It is God's.

  437. So when you come and then you hear the promptings

  438. and then it says that give, you just don't hesitate.

  439. You may debate it, but ultimately you just rally your

  440. mind around this truth. For all things come from you

  441. and of your.

  442. Own have we given you. Period. Hallelujah.

  443. And you will never know these things if you are

  444. not a disciple of God.

  445. You are not born again.

  446. You don't have the Spirit of God living in you.

  447. You will hear these things.

  448. Therefore, you are going to most likely chase after the

  449. Spirit of Mammon. You will never accept that it is God.

  450. It has taken His breath. That has brought you into

  451. the world. You will never admit it. And you will

  452. become very, very tight-fisted. Even though you are in church,

  453. you hear all the preachers. But when it comes to giving,

  454. I'm sorry, God minus me. And then you walk away.

  455. And God is shaking his head and looking at you

  456. and smiling.

  457. Hallelujah. But who am I? Let's go. Verse 15.

  458. This is one of the most sobering verses that you'll

  459. find in the Bible. It says, For we are strangers

  460. before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our

  461. days on earth are like a shadow, And there's no abiding.

  462. You will die. You are dying. We are all dying.

  463. But thank God we will be raised again. Say a

  464. big amen. That is the hope of the believer. We

  465. will be raised again.

  466. Say amen.

  467. When I look at the story in Genesis of Adam

  468. before God brought Eve.

  469. What does the Bible say?

  470. The Bible says that God put Adam to work.

  471. To sleep.

  472. So you understand why the Hebrews sometimes when you die,

  473. they say he is asleep. If God could raise and

  474. rouse Adam from sleep, he will rouse you up and me.

  475. Say amen. We are not dying. We are going under anesthesia.

  476. Hallelujah.

  477. And we will appear in the next world. When we

  478. wake up, say amen. And we will smile. When Adam

  479. woke up, what did he see? And what was the

  480. first thing he said? Bone of my bones and flesh

  481. of my flesh. She shall be called woman.

  482. Hallelujah. Amen.

  483. I told you, but it says, Hallelujah.

  484. Amen.

  485. Oh, Lord, our God, all this abundance that we are

  486. provided for building you a house for your holy name

  487. comes from your owner.

  488. And it's all your own. Seventeen. I know, my God. Now,

  489. this is very, very key.

  490. I know, my God, that you test the heart and

  491. have pleasure in uprightness. Other versions say that you test integrity.

  492. I don't have. God has blessed you. When you hear, oh, oh, oh,

  493. the fundraising. Minus me.

  494. And then when they put it on their platform and

  495. it shows up in your WhatsApp and then delete. Send

  496. back to sender. God is testing your integrity. And he says,

  497. in the uprightness of my heart, I have freely offered

  498. all these things. And now I have seen your people

  499. who are present here offering freely and joyously to you. Eighteen,

  500. O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers,

  501. keep forever such purposes and thoughts forever. The thoughts that

  502. he has just gone through. Thoughts in the hearts of

  503. your people. Know that we are strangers. We are so generous.

  504. We are dying. And God is testing our hearts with

  505. the spirit or with the mammon. Whether we go chasing

  506. the spirit of mammon. Or just like David will say.

  507. As the deer panteth after the waters. So my soul

  508. panteth after thee. So my soul panteth after thee. All

  509. your life, all your time, talent, you just want to

  510. please God. I was glad when they said unto me,

  511. let us go into the house of the Lord. And

  512. if you are driving, you are just driving at next speed.

  513. I want to be in the presence of God. If

  514. you are walking, you walk a little and then you

  515. trot a little. I need to get to the house

  516. of God and go and render service to God. Raise up!

  517. That's somebody who has met the Lord.

  518. The king of kings, you are serving God and you

  519. are foot shuffling.

  520. You are an usher.

  521. We are almost through with the service before you come

  522. and stand at the gate that I'm coming to usher.

  523. Keep forever sad purposes and thoughts in the hearts of

  524. your people and direct their hearts towards you. 19, grant

  525. to Solomon my son.

  526. A whole heart.

  527. That he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes,

  528. performing all, and that he may build the palace for

  529. which I have made for you.

  530. We are building something.

  531. God has commissioned us to build this temple, this sanctuary

  532. in this city, and that's what we've been doing. But

  533. it's going to take wealth, our time, our talents, our treasure.

  534. It is when we bring them, when you come and

  535. I come, then God begins to multiply them. So we

  536. can do the work of a rise up on your feet.

  537. We'll continue on Wednesday.
