  13. Dr.

  14. Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,

  15. to today's message.

  16. Let's take our confession, Joshua 1 verse 8, this book

    Joshua 1:8

  17. of the Lord shall not depart out of my mouth,

  18. that I shall meditate in it day and night, that

  19. I may observe to do according to all that is

  20. written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,

  21. and then I will have good success. Amen. Why don't

  22. you take your seats? So let's continue our discourses on

  23. order in giving. Hallelujah. And we are in Deuteronomy chapter 8,

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  24. and we said we are on the pathway to divine wealth.

  25. The wealth that God, when God brings into our lives,

  26. He says He adds no sorrow to it. He gives

  27. us the health, the vitality, and every other thing that

  28. we need so we can enjoy it. Amen. Hallelujah. And

  29. we are looking at, we're looking at some of the

  30. key and the guiding principles for you and I acquiring

  31. or having bestowed upon us divine wealth. Amen. And last

  32. week we were looking at Deuteronomy chapter 8, and then

    Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention

  33. maybe let me read through once again, and then we'll

  34. come to verse 1. We have not finished breaking down

  35. verse 1. That is where we ended last Wednesday. But let's,

  36. so we can get all the background again, how God

  37. created wealth for Israel of old. And some of the

  38. trying times and seasons that God took them through before

  39. bringing them into the world. Hallelujah. And we take note

  40. that every commandment which I command you today, you must

  41. be careful to observe that you may live and multiply

  42. and go in and possess the land of which the

  43. Lord swore to your fathers. Let's quickly run through to

  44. 20 and then we'll come back. And you shall remember

  45. that the Lord your God led you all the way

  46. these 40 years in the wilderness to humble you and

  47. test you, to know what was in your heart, whether

  48. you would keep his commandments or not. Verse 3, So

  49. he humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you

  50. with manna, which you did not know, nor did your

  51. fathers know, that he might make you know that man

  52. shall not live by bread alone, But man lives by

  53. every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

  54. Verse 4. Your garments did not wear out on you,

  55. nor did your foot swell these 40 years. 5. You

  56. should know in your heart that as a man chastens

  57. his son, so the Lord your God chastens you or

  58. disciplines you. 6. Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of

  59. the Lord your God to walk with 7. For the

  60. Lord your God is bringing you into a good land,

  61. a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs

  62. that flow out of valleys and hills. 8. A land

  63. of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees, and pomegranates,

  64. a land of olive oil and honey. A land in

  65. which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you

  66. will lack nothing. A land whose stones are iron and

  67. out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10. When

  68. you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless

  69. the Lord your God for the good land which he

  70. has given you. 11. Beware that you do not forget

  71. the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, his judgments,

  72. and his statutes, which I command you to do. Lest

  73. when you have eaten and are full and have built

  74. beautiful houses and dwell in them, and when your heads

  75. and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold

  76. are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied, When

  77. your heart is lifted up and you forget the Lord

  78. your God who brought you out of the land of

  79. Egypt from the house of Bondi. 15. Who led you

  80. through that great and terrible wilderness in which were fiery

  81. serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water.

  82. Who brought water for you out of the flinty rock. 16.

  83. Who fed you in the wilderness with manna which your

  84. fathers did not know. that he might humble you and

  85. that he might test you to do you good in

  86. the end. 17. Then you say in your heart, my

  87. power and the might of my hand have gained me

  88. this wealth. 18. And you shall remember the Lord your God,

  89. for it is he who gives you power to get well,

  90. that he may establish his covenant, which is swore to

  91. your fathers, as it is in there. Highlight this one,

  92. you know, very key, because that's where we are heading towards,

  93. but we'll see if we'll be able to get there

  94. in our discourses. But you should have this key verse

  95. that talks about divine will, highlighted in your Bible. It says,

  96. and you shall remember the Lord your God, For it

  97. is he who gives you power to get wealth, that

  98. he may establish his covenant, which he swore to your fathers.

  99. As it is this day. Let's do the last two verses,

  100. 19 and 20. Then it shall be, if you by

  101. any means forget the Lord your God and follow other

  102. gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against

  103. you this day that you shall surely perish. 20. As

  104. the nations which the Lord destroys before you, So you

  105. shall perish because you would not be obedient to the

  106. voice of the Lord your God. Hallelujah. Amen. That is very,

  107. very strong language, you know, that God uses concerning Israel

  108. of old. He told them what he was to be

  109. expectant of, what he was going to do. But he

  110. also told them, don't forget your background. Don't forget your past.

  111. Don't forget where God is bringing you from. When you

  112. come into covenant relationship with God, more or less, he

  113. was saying, that's for me. I have the power. I

  114. have the resources to do whatever I want to do

  115. in your life. Because the earth is the lost and

  116. the fullness thereof. When it comes to me, I'm not man.

  117. I'm not a promise and fail God. When I speak,

  118. he says that I always stand behind my word. to

  119. ensure that it comes to pass. So take note that

  120. as for the blessings I told you, when I unpicked

  121. you and I rescued you from Egyptian bondage, I'm taking

  122. you to a land that is filled with milk and honey.

  123. And he gives us a graphic description of what to expect.

  124. Did you see milk and honey? I didn't see. But

  125. he was talking about wheat. He was talking about grain.

  126. He was talking about enlarging your cattle and all those things. Hallelujah.

  127. And then he said, but hold on, hold on. Hold on.

  128. I created man. I know what the fall has brought

  129. into your life. The ability to forget your creator and

  130. then begin to think in moments and seasons of prosperity

  131. that it is my hand, my ingenuity. Because God created

  132. us with a lot of talents and competencies. So sometimes

  133. it is very, very, very easy as a child of

  134. God to forget the skills, the competencies, and everything that

  135. you are enjoying in the hands of God that it

  136. is God. And he says, remember, hallelujah, where you are

  137. coming from. And he's telling us that, he's reminding them

  138. that it's a background where things were tough. But he

  139. says it was intentional. So before God brings you into wealth,

  140. sometimes in order to humble us, in order to let us,

  141. because in those seasons of humbling and chastening, at least

  142. we can't, in Exodus chapter 1, sorry, Yes, in Exodus

Exodus 1 chapter mention Exodus 1 chapter mention

  143. chapter 1, you saw that Israel were crying out to

  144. God because the Bible says of the bondage, the severe bondage.

  145. of Egyptian bondage. And they cried, and the Bible says that,

  146. but God remembered Israel and the covenant that he had

  147. cut with him for Father Abraham. God said he had

  148. respect for the covenant. You and I knew. What are

  149. the lessons? You and I, New Testament believers, there is

  150. a covenant. The blood of Jesus Christ has been shed

  151. to seal that covenant. The promises are hinged on the

  152. promises of Jesus Christ. Better, far better than the promises

  153. of the covenant that Abraham cut for Israel or God

  154. cut with Abraham on Israel's behalf. Hallelujah. He says that

  155. we should have a Shorak covenant. Amen.

  156. Amen.

  157. So it is based on this covenant that God has

  158. reassured us that he will bless us. And in you

  159. and I's case, he's not just saying that he's taking

  160. us to a land flowing with milk and oil. He

  161. has been very, very explicit and clear. So if I

  162. believe a truth, look, hard times and seasons, this is

  163. part of the package. And God has never in any

  164. time or season said that anything. Let me rather put

  165. it the other way. He has promised us where the

  166. blessings that he has earmarked for us will unfold in

  167. our life. Not in this life. He says, in this life,

  168. I'm going to do everything that I can so that

  169. you can have an enjoyable life. But the riches, the

  170. promises of God in the New Testament is for the

  171. joys and then the riches of heaven. In chapter number

  172. two of our lives, not here. So even as you

  173. are reading the Bible and you are getting a conversation

  174. with the promises, Israel's old, it was the promised land.

  175. By you and I, it is heaven. Say amen. Amen. Hallelujah.

  176. But then in the journey, he has promised us. Jesus

  177. said it. He said, you forsake father, you forsake mom,

  178. you forsake anything for the gospel's sake. He said, in

  179. this life, in this life, I'm going to compensate you

  180. and bring you fathers, mother figures. I'm going to bring

  181. you brothers and sisters. I'm going to bring you houses

  182. or a place to put your head whilst we trek

  183. through this land. But rest assured that in the life

  184. to come, When we get into heaven, that's when the

  185. full compensation package or rewards for us will unfold. Hallelujah.

  186. That is the gospel of Jesus Christ. So there's a

  187. slight difference between Old Testament blessings and New Testament blessings. Amen.

  188. The wealth of the New Testament believer will not be

  189. fully accessed in this life. Say a big amen. Amen.

  190. So if you never sleep in a pajero, take heart. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.

  191. For all you know, the one that you will ride

  192. in heaven, hey, gold-plated one, from the time we will

  193. be gold. Hallelujah. Amen. And there will not be gallants there.

  194. So no potholes. Say a big amen.

  195. Amen.

  196. Hallelujah. Amen. So there's a difference between Old Testament blessings

  197. and in the year mark, New Testament blessings. Hallelujah. But

  198. in all of these, God is saying, For one thing,

  199. I will honor my word. I will honor my word.

  200. He says, even in the Old Testament, to give Abraham

  201. all the assurance and reassurance that he needed, he took

  202. a oath. He said, Abraham, I swear I'll bless you.

  203. So that he said in two things that is immutable law,

  204. God cannot change his mind. Just to make that thing

  205. a double issue. Number one, when God speaks, he doesn't

  206. change his mind. And then, Much more swearing and taking

  207. an oath. But God said he did that just to

  208. reassure you and I. Now whatever he has said he

  209. will do, he will do. Say a big amen. Hallelujah.

  210. So let's follow Israel and let's pick up the lessons

  211. where we left off from. So we are in verse 1.

  212. We said we are breaking them down. And then we

  213. looked at, we said five key things in Deuteronomy chapter

    Deuteronomy 8:1

  214. 8 verse 1 that we could pick lessons from. Number

  215. one is that He says that every commandment which I

  216. command you today, you must be careful to observe that

  217. you may live and multiply. Go in and possess the Lord,

  218. the land of which the Lord swore to you. Five truths.

  219. Number one, we said the whole commandment. Number two, be

  220. careful to do. That's what he said. Be careful to do.

  221. That is living obedience. Number three, so that you may live.

  222. Live and multiply. It's an assurance. Your resources will. We

  223. saw in the case of Isaac, God started prospering him

  224. until he became very, very prosperous. And I like what

  225. the tail end of that verse, it says that such

  226. that the Philistines around, they started envying him. Who is this?

  227. And where is he getting this wealth from? Hallelujah. Amen.

  228. That's the third truth. And then we say, Number four

  229. was to go in. He said, go in and possess

  230. the land. And the fifth truth there, the Lord has

  231. sworn to give it to us. Hallelujah. And I think

  232. we ended on the third point. And we already have

  233. spoken about the whole commandments, saying the logos and the rhema.

  234. You must read your word and you must be mindful

  235. and conscious of the indwelling presence of of the Holy

  236. Spirit in your life. Every time that we have the opportunity,

  237. we want to remind ourselves as New Testament believers. Now

  238. what makes us live, move, and have our being is

  239. the Holy Spirit. Without any Holy Spirit, I'm afraid you're

  240. not going to be able to end up in the

  241. courts of heaven. Because the seal, the authentication of your

  242. born-again experience is the Holy Spirit in you. And the

  243. Holy Spirit doesn't come in and sneak in. He's not silent.

  244. You will know. Amen. Please, you will know. You don't

  245. have any Holy Spirit. You are not born again. You

  246. are not. He won't sneak in. It's a tumultuous event.

  247. You will know it. We are saying this thing. We

  248. want you to get the real thing so that these blessings,

  249. they will become a reality. So they will be tangible.

  250. People drift away from church because all the promised blessings

  251. of the gospel, they are not experiencing it. And God

  252. is never at fault. If only you would just, you know,

  253. rally your mind and wrap your mind around it that, me, me,

  254. I'm the one that I'm at fault. And God is

  255. not afraid of us. He will point it out to us.

  256. He created us. He owns us. Our bodies, he says,

  257. are the temple of the Lord. So when he invades

  258. your temple, he makes it come because it's a very

  259. welcome exercise. Unizes all that what believed in him and

  260. received him. We welcomed him. Holy Spirit, come. Come and stay.

  261. So when he comes, you have opened your heart to him.

  262. He will let you know. So it's a very critical

  263. stage in the born again experience. The invasion of the

  264. human soul by the Holy Spirit. Amen. So that you

  265. will know something. Something, a spirit has come to take

  266. residence in me. And he will let you know. And

  267. this is where all the signs, the proofs, and all

  268. the reassurances that you need as a believer to let

  269. you know that you are a child of God come.

  270. That is when the dreams and the visions, you hear

  271. people talking about visions of heaven and seeing angels and hallelujah.

  272. Satan too can appear. Satan is an angel. So anytime

  273. I do that, I won't. That's why you need to

  274. be genuine. When you are genuine, God will not allow hallelujah. Amen.

  275. Even when they come and the angels of Satan comes

  276. and he pretends, there will be something niggling in the

  277. back of your heart and mind that there's something wrong

  278. with this angel. Hallelujah. Amen. You say, oh, I've read it.

  279. That's why going to school is important. The school of

  280. the Spirit. Because you are reading, you are reading. You

  281. see the dreams and the visions of some of the

  282. prophets and all those things. Daniel, you know, and all

  283. that and then. You now, you alone, your angel when

  284. he came. Have you read through those prophets? When they

  285. see the angels, what do they do? They bowed. They

  286. fell down. They said, I fell down as if I

  287. was dead. They are shaking. And you, your angel, when

  288. he appeared, hallelujah. And so immediately, your own appearance, it

  289. seems you just, this angel died. It didn't feel like

  290. worshiping there. Maybe there's something wrong. Hallelujah. Amen. So there's

  291. always something in the scriptures and then by extension, the

  292. Holy Spirit in you that will Just, you know, prick

  293. your heart and mind that there's something wrong. And that

  294. is why the safety of the believers being planted in

  295. the house. Then, can I go and share with Pastor

  296. this person? I had a dream and then this angel says,

  297. I'm called Angel Akakatiako. And he says, I should. Somebody

  298. came and says that they had a dream and then

  299. they say that there's some wealth in their house. Some

  300. wealth in the house that they need to go and

  301. find somebody to do some ritual so that they can dig.

  302. The grandparents left some wealth on the compound. You read

  303. the scriptures in that angels are leading people to find

  304. gold in their house when there is some waiting in heaven. Hallelujah. Amen.

  305. So there are a lot of things that are happening

  306. that sometimes we are a little bit, some of us

  307. are a bit hesitant when it comes to spiritual encounters

  308. and all those things. But my point is that get

  309. the genuine thing. The Holy Spirit will guide you. If

  310. there is anything fishy, sneaky, uncomfortable, with the dream, the vision,

  311. in the body of counselors, sorry, in the midst of

  312. multiple counselors, there is safety. In the body of the Lord,

  313. we are doing the Bible studies. You have the opportunity

  314. to ask. When we do the household of faith Bible studies,

  315. that's how we grow. By asking questions, sharing the experiences

  316. that we are going through, In our spiritual journey. Amen. Sharing. Very,

  317. very important. Because they are false and deceptive angels. They

  318. are false dreams. They are false vision. Amen. So that's

  319. the world of the spiritual phenomena. They are false ones.

  320. They are true genuine ones. Share. So we can be guided. Hallelujah.

  321. But my point is this. The Holy Spirit comes in

  322. to take residence in you. He's going to bring holy

  323. appetites to you. Hallelujah.

  324. Hallelujah.

  325. He's going to help you understand the word of God. Amen.

  326. And he's going to let you have to build a

  327. certain measure of confidence in the hand of the Lord.

  328. And he's the one who is going to help you

  329. understand the scriptures and give you the energy to obey.

  330. So when we say every commandment which I command you today,

  331. you will do it by the enabling hand of God.

  332. Say a big amen. You don't say, oh, yeah, yeah.

  333. I know in 21st century, every commandment, you can't. That's

  334. the mystery of the Christian life. You can't. The Holy Spirit,

  335. that's the mystery behind godliness. He will take you one

  336. day at a time. You may stumble and fall. He

  337. says that seven times you may do it, but there

  338. will always be a helping hand to lift you up

  339. so you can validate the word because it is the

  340. word and that gets the wealth that God is going

  341. to bring into your life, the prosperity. of body, soul,

  342. and spirit, the peace of God, the passive all understanding,

  343. the joy of the Lord. Hallelujah. You need this. It's

  344. not just the material blessings, but you need the spiritual

  345. blessings that makes you a happy person. Say amen. So

  346. when you wake up in the morning and you are

  347. going to church, I was glad when they said unto me,

  348. let us go into the house of the Lord. Your

  349. leg and your whole body language is positive. Hallelujah. When

  350. you sleep, you can sleep. And you stop flying in

  351. the night. Hallelujah. Amen. A brother came to share with me.

  352. That's why the safety of the church. And he says, Pastor,

  353. I sometimes sleep and I'm flying. And I said, you

  354. are not a bird. I said, you are not a bird.

  355. You are a human being. We need to cast that

  356. spirit out in Jesus' name. You are not an occultist.

  357. You are a child of God. You have to stop flying. Amen. Hallelujah.

  358. And he understood me. Amen. So the whole commandment, the

  359. second point was he said, be careful to do it.

  360. Be careful to do it. And we said that is

  361. to live in obedience. You can do it. That's exactly

  362. the point I'm making. God will help you. The Holy

  363. Spirit will enable you. He comes alongside as our coach,

  364. as our mentor, as our comforter, as our counselor throughout

  365. all our lives and sojourning here on earth. Say a

  366. big amen. The only reason you will not be able

  367. to feel him or he will walk away is when

  368. sin comes into your life. When you stop obeying, then

  369. I'm afraid you're going to go on a backslide or

  370. a downslide. You backslide. And even when you are in

  371. a backsliding state and the Holy Spirit speaks, you will

  372. hear it. And when you get in that state, it's very,

  373. very difficult. Because even if the Holy Spirit is speaking

  374. to you, you will hear. When, Pastor, when I come,

  375. Anybody else to come to, you won't hear. You won't

  376. listen to us. Hallelujah. Amen. Very, very, very important. So

  377. he says, be careful. And we said that word, be careful.

  378. It has to do with safeguard it. Hallelujah. Be careful.

  379. We said it is that at the cost of your life,

  380. put your life on it. Hallelujah.

  381. Yes.

  382. Put your life on. Defend it. Defend it. When God

  383. speaks to you, the commandments, the way we are living

  384. our life, people will give us or demand from us

  385. a reason and an answer why we live our lives

  386. that way. You know, like Satan did to Adam and

  387. Eve in the Garden of Eden. Has God said that

  388. you should every day be going to church? Has God

  389. said that you should be fasting every time? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.

  390. You know where you are coming from. You know the

  391. demons that are chasing you. You know the leading and

  392. the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So you can stop

  393. flying at night and have all kinds of things chasing you.

  394. Not by power, not by might, but by your spirit.

  395. So sometimes the Holy Spirit will take you on a

  396. journey of fasting and praying. It's spiritual warfare. You never know.

  397. Sometimes you know, you just feel like, I don't feel

  398. like eating. I don't feel like eating. I feel like

  399. waiting on the Lord. And then there is a stariner

  400. to pray and to praise. And somebody who doesn't understand.

  401. who come in there and your church, they like fasting.

  402. And I said, for me, that's my experience. That is

  403. how we got out of the church. That's how we

  404. escaped out of the snare of the fowler. And that's

  405. how God broke the net and the chains and liberated us.

  406. And that's how come we have been able to, you know,

  407. by the grace of God and the word of God's authority,

  408. be able to get people and a lot of people

  409. to flee out of the prison yard of the devil.

  410. Not by power, not by might, but by my spirit.

  411. IPIP and all those things is leading by the Holy

  412. Spirit because of the peculiar challenges that we find ourselves

  413. in in our day. Oh my God, that is how

  414. the chains of pornography and all the sexual sins have

  415. been broken in the lives of people. So when you

  416. come and tell me as a pastor that we are

  417. fasting too much, we should stop fasting, I just look

  418. at you and say, I don't think God sent you.

  419. I don't think that God sent you to me. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.

  420. Because the needs, the needs, look, it's not going to

  421. be by power, not by might, but the spirit of the...

  422. How are we going to be able to do all

  423. those things that we... How have we come this far?

  424. Despite the opposition. By prayer. Aggressive spiritual warfare. And the same,

  425. and then we are not even there. Look at all

  426. that is left to do. And then as we are

  427. going on there, you look back, and then the children

  428. also are coming. It's a generational thing. So when are

  429. we going to stop, you know, fighting in spiritual, fighting

  430. on our knees? As for the fasting, it is an

  431. addition to help, help, help, help! The main thing is

  432. the prayer. But sometimes, You'll be so much agonizing in

  433. the spirit that you just feel the hand and the

  434. stained hand of God. Can you wait? Can you give

  435. me your breakfast? Let me talk to you and let

  436. us connect to bind some things and to lose something

  437. in the church, in the family, in individual's lives. Then

  438. you are there and then God is just sending you.

  439. You are seeing pictures of things and pictures of people

  440. and names that are resonating in your heart and in

  441. your mind. Pray! You never know what they are going through.

  442. And God will use that prayer of intercession to just

  443. bring deliverance to somebody. Hallelujah. All because our minds, if

  444. you like, our spiritual antennae has been sharpened through the

  445. continual conversations we have with God in fasting and in prayer.

  446. That's how we are able to obey him. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen.

  447. And then when you do that, oh my God. As

  448. I said, the children, oh, the children. If it were

  449. me alone, no, but the children, the children. Hallelujah. Amen.

  450. So we fight for another generation. That's why we can't

  451. stop what we are doing. We can't lay our toes down.

  452. We must still stay on our knees and pray. And pray.

  453. If they don't get you, don't attack the children. Hallelujah.

  454. And just mess up their lives. But you and I,

  455. God is a very merciful and compassionate God. As we

  456. continue every day, day one, you will see and I say,

  457. nothing will happen. And you will see and I say,

  458. the children are going wayward. They will be swallowed by

  459. the spirit of the tide. But God, who is merciful,

  460. will look upon our cries and intercession and send a rescue.

  461. That's how it works. Somebody must decide, I'm going to sacrifice.

  462. I'm going to pay that price so somebody might live

  463. and not die. Hallelujah. Amen.
