Welcome to Logos Rima R with God's servant, Rev.
-
Dr.
-
Joseph Baalbin, Head Pastor of Harvest Chapel International Kumasi. And now,
-
to today's message.
-
Let's take our confession, Joshua 1 verse 8, this book
-
of the Lord shall not depart out of my mouth,
-
that I shall meditate in it day and night, that
-
I may observe to do according to all that is
-
written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous,
-
and then I will have good success. Amen. Why don't
-
you take your seats? So let's continue our discourses on
-
order in giving. Hallelujah. And we are in Deuteronomy chapter 8,
Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention
-
and we said we are on the pathway to divine wealth.
-
The wealth that God, when God brings into our lives,
-
He says He adds no sorrow to it. He gives
-
us the health, the vitality, and every other thing that
-
we need so we can enjoy it. Amen. Hallelujah. And
-
we are looking at, we're looking at some of the
-
key and the guiding principles for you and I acquiring
-
or having bestowed upon us divine wealth. Amen. And last
-
week we were looking at Deuteronomy chapter 8, and then
Deuteronomy 8 chapter mention
-
maybe let me read through once again, and then we'll
-
come to verse 1. We have not finished breaking down
-
verse 1. That is where we ended last Wednesday. But let's,
-
so we can get all the background again, how God
-
created wealth for Israel of old. And some of the
-
trying times and seasons that God took them through before
-
bringing them into the world. Hallelujah. And we take note
-
that every commandment which I command you today, you must
-
be careful to observe that you may live and multiply
-
and go in and possess the land of which the
-
Lord swore to your fathers. Let's quickly run through to
-
20 and then we'll come back. And you shall remember
-
that the Lord your God led you all the way
-
these 40 years in the wilderness to humble you and
-
test you, to know what was in your heart, whether
-
you would keep his commandments or not. Verse 3, So
-
he humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you
-
with manna, which you did not know, nor did your
-
fathers know, that he might make you know that man
-
shall not live by bread alone, But man lives by
-
every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.
-
Verse 4. Your garments did not wear out on you,
-
nor did your foot swell these 40 years. 5. You
-
should know in your heart that as a man chastens
-
his son, so the Lord your God chastens you or
-
disciplines you. 6. Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of
-
the Lord your God to walk with 7. For the
-
Lord your God is bringing you into a good land,
-
a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs
-
that flow out of valleys and hills. 8. A land
-
of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees, and pomegranates,
-
a land of olive oil and honey. A land in
-
which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you
-
will lack nothing. A land whose stones are iron and
-
out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10. When
-
you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless
-
the Lord your God for the good land which he
-
has given you. 11. Beware that you do not forget
-
the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, his judgments,
-
and his statutes, which I command you to do. Lest
-
when you have eaten and are full and have built
-
beautiful houses and dwell in them, and when your heads
-
and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold
-
are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied, When
-
your heart is lifted up and you forget the Lord
-
your God who brought you out of the land of
-
Egypt from the house of Bondi. 15. Who led you
-
through that great and terrible wilderness in which were fiery
-
serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water.
-
Who brought water for you out of the flinty rock. 16.
-
Who fed you in the wilderness with manna which your
-
fathers did not know. that he might humble you and
-
that he might test you to do you good in
-
the end. 17. Then you say in your heart, my
-
power and the might of my hand have gained me
-
this wealth. 18. And you shall remember the Lord your God,
-
for it is he who gives you power to get well,
-
that he may establish his covenant, which is swore to
-
your fathers, as it is in there. Highlight this one,
-
you know, very key, because that's where we are heading towards,
-
but we'll see if we'll be able to get there
-
in our discourses. But you should have this key verse
-
that talks about divine will, highlighted in your Bible. It says,
-
and you shall remember the Lord your God, For it
-
is he who gives you power to get wealth, that
-
he may establish his covenant, which he swore to your fathers.
-
As it is this day. Let's do the last two verses,
-
19 and 20. Then it shall be, if you by
-
any means forget the Lord your God and follow other
-
gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against
-
you this day that you shall surely perish. 20. As
-
the nations which the Lord destroys before you, So you
-
shall perish because you would not be obedient to the
-
voice of the Lord your God. Hallelujah. Amen. That is very,
-
very strong language, you know, that God uses concerning Israel
-
of old. He told them what he was to be
-
expectant of, what he was going to do. But he
-
also told them, don't forget your background. Don't forget your past.
-
Don't forget where God is bringing you from. When you
-
come into covenant relationship with God, more or less, he
-
was saying, that's for me. I have the power. I
-
have the resources to do whatever I want to do
-
in your life. Because the earth is the lost and
-
the fullness thereof. When it comes to me, I'm not man.
-
I'm not a promise and fail God. When I speak,
-
he says that I always stand behind my word. to
-
ensure that it comes to pass. So take note that
-
as for the blessings I told you, when I unpicked
-
you and I rescued you from Egyptian bondage, I'm taking
-
you to a land that is filled with milk and honey.
-
And he gives us a graphic description of what to expect.
-
Did you see milk and honey? I didn't see. But
-
he was talking about wheat. He was talking about grain.
-
He was talking about enlarging your cattle and all those things. Hallelujah.
-
And then he said, but hold on, hold on. Hold on.
-
I created man. I know what the fall has brought
-
into your life. The ability to forget your creator and
-
then begin to think in moments and seasons of prosperity
-
that it is my hand, my ingenuity. Because God created
-
us with a lot of talents and competencies. So sometimes
-
it is very, very, very easy as a child of
-
God to forget the skills, the competencies, and everything that
-
you are enjoying in the hands of God that it
-
is God. And he says, remember, hallelujah, where you are
-
coming from. And he's telling us that, he's reminding them
-
that it's a background where things were tough. But he
-
says it was intentional. So before God brings you into wealth,
-
sometimes in order to humble us, in order to let us,
-
because in those seasons of humbling and chastening, at least
-
chapter 1, you saw that Israel were crying out to
-
God because the Bible says of the bondage, the severe bondage.
-
of Egyptian bondage. And they cried, and the Bible says that,
-
but God remembered Israel and the covenant that he had
-
cut with him for Father Abraham. God said he had
-
respect for the covenant. You and I knew. What are
-
the lessons? You and I, New Testament believers, there is
-
a covenant. The blood of Jesus Christ has been shed
-
to seal that covenant. The promises are hinged on the
-
promises of Jesus Christ. Better, far better than the promises
-
of the covenant that Abraham cut for Israel or God
-
cut with Abraham on Israel's behalf. Hallelujah. He says that
-
we should have a Shorak covenant. Amen.
-
Amen.
-
So it is based on this covenant that God has
-
reassured us that he will bless us. And in you
-
and I's case, he's not just saying that he's taking
-
us to a land flowing with milk and oil. He
-
has been very, very explicit and clear. So if I
-
believe a truth, look, hard times and seasons, this is
-
part of the package. And God has never in any
-
time or season said that anything. Let me rather put
-
it the other way. He has promised us where the
-
blessings that he has earmarked for us will unfold in
-
our life. Not in this life. He says, in this life,
-
I'm going to do everything that I can so that
-
you can have an enjoyable life. But the riches, the
-
promises of God in the New Testament is for the
-
joys and then the riches of heaven. In chapter number
-
two of our lives, not here. So even as you
-
are reading the Bible and you are getting a conversation
-
with the promises, Israel's old, it was the promised land.
-
By you and I, it is heaven. Say amen. Amen. Hallelujah.
-
But then in the journey, he has promised us. Jesus
-
said it. He said, you forsake father, you forsake mom,
-
you forsake anything for the gospel's sake. He said, in
-
this life, in this life, I'm going to compensate you
-
and bring you fathers, mother figures. I'm going to bring
-
you brothers and sisters. I'm going to bring you houses
-
or a place to put your head whilst we trek
-
through this land. But rest assured that in the life
-
to come, When we get into heaven, that's when the
-
full compensation package or rewards for us will unfold. Hallelujah.
-
That is the gospel of Jesus Christ. So there's a
-
slight difference between Old Testament blessings and New Testament blessings. Amen.
-
The wealth of the New Testament believer will not be
-
fully accessed in this life. Say a big amen. Amen.
-
So if you never sleep in a pajero, take heart. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
-
For all you know, the one that you will ride
-
in heaven, hey, gold-plated one, from the time we will
-
be gold. Hallelujah. Amen. And there will not be gallants there.
-
So no potholes. Say a big amen.
-
Amen.
-
Hallelujah. Amen. So there's a difference between Old Testament blessings
-
and in the year mark, New Testament blessings. Hallelujah. But
-
in all of these, God is saying, For one thing,
-
I will honor my word. I will honor my word.
-
He says, even in the Old Testament, to give Abraham
-
all the assurance and reassurance that he needed, he took
-
a oath. He said, Abraham, I swear I'll bless you.
-
So that he said in two things that is immutable law,
-
God cannot change his mind. Just to make that thing
-
a double issue. Number one, when God speaks, he doesn't
-
change his mind. And then, Much more swearing and taking
-
an oath. But God said he did that just to
-
reassure you and I. Now whatever he has said he
-
will do, he will do. Say a big amen. Hallelujah.
-
So let's follow Israel and let's pick up the lessons
-
where we left off from. So we are in verse 1.
-
We said we are breaking them down. And then we
-
looked at, we said five key things in Deuteronomy chapter
-
8 verse 1 that we could pick lessons from. Number
-
one is that He says that every commandment which I
-
command you today, you must be careful to observe that
-
you may live and multiply. Go in and possess the Lord,
-
the land of which the Lord swore to you. Five truths.
-
Number one, we said the whole commandment. Number two, be
-
careful to do. That's what he said. Be careful to do.
-
That is living obedience. Number three, so that you may live.
-
Live and multiply. It's an assurance. Your resources will. We
-
saw in the case of Isaac, God started prospering him
-
until he became very, very prosperous. And I like what
-
the tail end of that verse, it says that such
-
that the Philistines around, they started envying him. Who is this?
-
And where is he getting this wealth from? Hallelujah. Amen.
-
That's the third truth. And then we say, Number four
-
was to go in. He said, go in and possess
-
the land. And the fifth truth there, the Lord has
-
sworn to give it to us. Hallelujah. And I think
-
we ended on the third point. And we already have
-
spoken about the whole commandments, saying the logos and the rhema.
-
You must read your word and you must be mindful
-
and conscious of the indwelling presence of of the Holy
-
Spirit in your life. Every time that we have the opportunity,
-
we want to remind ourselves as New Testament believers. Now
-
what makes us live, move, and have our being is
-
the Holy Spirit. Without any Holy Spirit, I'm afraid you're
-
not going to be able to end up in the
-
courts of heaven. Because the seal, the authentication of your
-
born-again experience is the Holy Spirit in you. And the
-
Holy Spirit doesn't come in and sneak in. He's not silent.
-
You will know. Amen. Please, you will know. You don't
-
have any Holy Spirit. You are not born again. You
-
are not. He won't sneak in. It's a tumultuous event.
-
You will know it. We are saying this thing. We
-
want you to get the real thing so that these blessings,
-
they will become a reality. So they will be tangible.
-
People drift away from church because all the promised blessings
-
of the gospel, they are not experiencing it. And God
-
is never at fault. If only you would just, you know,
-
rally your mind and wrap your mind around it that, me, me,
-
I'm the one that I'm at fault. And God is
-
not afraid of us. He will point it out to us.
-
He created us. He owns us. Our bodies, he says,
-
are the temple of the Lord. So when he invades
-
your temple, he makes it come because it's a very
-
welcome exercise. Unizes all that what believed in him and
-
received him. We welcomed him. Holy Spirit, come. Come and stay.
-
So when he comes, you have opened your heart to him.
-
He will let you know. So it's a very critical
-
stage in the born again experience. The invasion of the
-
human soul by the Holy Spirit. Amen. So that you
-
will know something. Something, a spirit has come to take
-
residence in me. And he will let you know. And
-
this is where all the signs, the proofs, and all
-
the reassurances that you need as a believer to let
-
you know that you are a child of God come.
-
That is when the dreams and the visions, you hear
-
people talking about visions of heaven and seeing angels and hallelujah.
-
Satan too can appear. Satan is an angel. So anytime
-
I do that, I won't. That's why you need to
-
be genuine. When you are genuine, God will not allow hallelujah. Amen.
-
Even when they come and the angels of Satan comes
-
and he pretends, there will be something niggling in the
-
back of your heart and mind that there's something wrong
-
with this angel. Hallelujah. Amen. You say, oh, I've read it.
-
That's why going to school is important. The school of
-
the Spirit. Because you are reading, you are reading. You
-
see the dreams and the visions of some of the
-
prophets and all those things. Daniel, you know, and all
-
that and then. You now, you alone, your angel when
-
he came. Have you read through those prophets? When they
-
see the angels, what do they do? They bowed. They
-
fell down. They said, I fell down as if I
-
was dead. They are shaking. And you, your angel, when
-
he appeared, hallelujah. And so immediately, your own appearance, it
-
seems you just, this angel died. It didn't feel like
-
worshiping there. Maybe there's something wrong. Hallelujah. Amen. So there's
-
always something in the scriptures and then by extension, the
-
Holy Spirit in you that will Just, you know, prick
-
your heart and mind that there's something wrong. And that
-
is why the safety of the believers being planted in
-
the house. Then, can I go and share with Pastor
-
this person? I had a dream and then this angel says,
-
I'm called Angel Akakatiako. And he says, I should. Somebody
-
came and says that they had a dream and then
-
they say that there's some wealth in their house. Some
-
wealth in the house that they need to go and
-
find somebody to do some ritual so that they can dig.
-
The grandparents left some wealth on the compound. You read
-
the scriptures in that angels are leading people to find
-
gold in their house when there is some waiting in heaven. Hallelujah. Amen.
-
So there are a lot of things that are happening
-
that sometimes we are a little bit, some of us
-
are a bit hesitant when it comes to spiritual encounters
-
and all those things. But my point is that get
-
the genuine thing. The Holy Spirit will guide you. If
-
there is anything fishy, sneaky, uncomfortable, with the dream, the vision,
-
in the body of counselors, sorry, in the midst of
-
multiple counselors, there is safety. In the body of the Lord,
-
we are doing the Bible studies. You have the opportunity
-
to ask. When we do the household of faith Bible studies,
-
that's how we grow. By asking questions, sharing the experiences
-
that we are going through, In our spiritual journey. Amen. Sharing. Very,
-
very important. Because they are false and deceptive angels. They
-
are false dreams. They are false vision. Amen. So that's
-
the world of the spiritual phenomena. They are false ones.
-
They are true genuine ones. Share. So we can be guided. Hallelujah.
-
But my point is this. The Holy Spirit comes in
-
to take residence in you. He's going to bring holy
-
appetites to you. Hallelujah.
-
Hallelujah.
-
He's going to help you understand the word of God. Amen.
-
And he's going to let you have to build a
-
certain measure of confidence in the hand of the Lord.
-
And he's the one who is going to help you
-
understand the scriptures and give you the energy to obey.
-
So when we say every commandment which I command you today,
-
you will do it by the enabling hand of God.
-
Say a big amen. You don't say, oh, yeah, yeah.
-
I know in 21st century, every commandment, you can't. That's
-
the mystery of the Christian life. You can't. The Holy Spirit,
-
that's the mystery behind godliness. He will take you one
-
day at a time. You may stumble and fall. He
-
says that seven times you may do it, but there
-
will always be a helping hand to lift you up
-
so you can validate the word because it is the
-
word and that gets the wealth that God is going
-
to bring into your life, the prosperity. of body, soul,
-
and spirit, the peace of God, the passive all understanding,
-
the joy of the Lord. Hallelujah. You need this. It's
-
not just the material blessings, but you need the spiritual
-
blessings that makes you a happy person. Say amen. So
-
when you wake up in the morning and you are
-
going to church, I was glad when they said unto me,
-
let us go into the house of the Lord. Your
-
leg and your whole body language is positive. Hallelujah. When
-
you sleep, you can sleep. And you stop flying in
-
the night. Hallelujah. Amen. A brother came to share with me.
-
That's why the safety of the church. And he says, Pastor,
-
I sometimes sleep and I'm flying. And I said, you
-
are not a bird. I said, you are not a bird.
-
You are a human being. We need to cast that
-
spirit out in Jesus' name. You are not an occultist.
-
You are a child of God. You have to stop flying. Amen. Hallelujah.
-
And he understood me. Amen. So the whole commandment, the
-
second point was he said, be careful to do it.
-
Be careful to do it. And we said that is
-
to live in obedience. You can do it. That's exactly
-
the point I'm making. God will help you. The Holy
-
Spirit will enable you. He comes alongside as our coach,
-
as our mentor, as our comforter, as our counselor throughout
-
all our lives and sojourning here on earth. Say a
-
big amen. The only reason you will not be able
-
to feel him or he will walk away is when
-
sin comes into your life. When you stop obeying, then
-
I'm afraid you're going to go on a backslide or
-
a downslide. You backslide. And even when you are in
-
a backsliding state and the Holy Spirit speaks, you will
-
hear it. And when you get in that state, it's very,
-
very difficult. Because even if the Holy Spirit is speaking
-
to you, you will hear. When, Pastor, when I come,
-
Anybody else to come to, you won't hear. You won't
-
listen to us. Hallelujah. Amen. Very, very, very important. So
-
he says, be careful. And we said that word, be careful.
-
It has to do with safeguard it. Hallelujah. Be careful.
-
We said it is that at the cost of your life,
-
put your life on it. Hallelujah.
-
Yes.
-
Put your life on. Defend it. Defend it. When God
-
speaks to you, the commandments, the way we are living
-
our life, people will give us or demand from us
-
a reason and an answer why we live our lives
-
that way. You know, like Satan did to Adam and
-
Eve in the Garden of Eden. Has God said that
-
you should every day be going to church? Has God
-
said that you should be fasting every time? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
-
You know where you are coming from. You know the
-
demons that are chasing you. You know the leading and
-
the guidance of the Holy Spirit. So you can stop
-
flying at night and have all kinds of things chasing you.
-
Not by power, not by might, but by your spirit.
-
So sometimes the Holy Spirit will take you on a
-
journey of fasting and praying. It's spiritual warfare. You never know.
-
Sometimes you know, you just feel like, I don't feel
-
like eating. I don't feel like eating. I feel like
-
waiting on the Lord. And then there is a stariner
-
to pray and to praise. And somebody who doesn't understand.
-
who come in there and your church, they like fasting.
-
And I said, for me, that's my experience. That is
-
how we got out of the church. That's how we
-
escaped out of the snare of the fowler. And that's
-
how God broke the net and the chains and liberated us.
-
And that's how come we have been able to, you know,
-
by the grace of God and the word of God's authority,
-
be able to get people and a lot of people
-
to flee out of the prison yard of the devil.
-
Not by power, not by might, but by my spirit.
-
IPIP and all those things is leading by the Holy
-
Spirit because of the peculiar challenges that we find ourselves
-
in in our day. Oh my God, that is how
-
the chains of pornography and all the sexual sins have
-
been broken in the lives of people. So when you
-
come and tell me as a pastor that we are
-
fasting too much, we should stop fasting, I just look
-
at you and say, I don't think God sent you.
-
I don't think that God sent you to me. Hallelujah. Amen. Amen.
-
Because the needs, the needs, look, it's not going to
-
be by power, not by might, but the spirit of the...
-
How are we going to be able to do all
-
those things that we... How have we come this far?
-
Despite the opposition. By prayer. Aggressive spiritual warfare. And the same,
-
and then we are not even there. Look at all
-
that is left to do. And then as we are
-
going on there, you look back, and then the children
-
also are coming. It's a generational thing. So when are
-
we going to stop, you know, fighting in spiritual, fighting
-
on our knees? As for the fasting, it is an
-
addition to help, help, help, help! The main thing is
-
the prayer. But sometimes, You'll be so much agonizing in
-
the spirit that you just feel the hand and the
-
stained hand of God. Can you wait? Can you give
-
me your breakfast? Let me talk to you and let
-
us connect to bind some things and to lose something
-
in the church, in the family, in individual's lives. Then
-
you are there and then God is just sending you.
-
You are seeing pictures of things and pictures of people
-
and names that are resonating in your heart and in
-
your mind. Pray! You never know what they are going through.
-
And God will use that prayer of intercession to just
-
bring deliverance to somebody. Hallelujah. All because our minds, if
-
you like, our spiritual antennae has been sharpened through the
-
continual conversations we have with God in fasting and in prayer.
-
That's how we are able to obey him. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Amen.
-
And then when you do that, oh my God. As
-
I said, the children, oh, the children. If it were
-
me alone, no, but the children, the children. Hallelujah. Amen.
-
So we fight for another generation. That's why we can't
-
stop what we are doing. We can't lay our toes down.
-
We must still stay on our knees and pray. And pray.
-
If they don't get you, don't attack the children. Hallelujah.
-
And just mess up their lives. But you and I,
-
God is a very merciful and compassionate God. As we
-
continue every day, day one, you will see and I say,
-
nothing will happen. And you will see and I say,
-
the children are going wayward. They will be swallowed by
-
the spirit of the tide. But God, who is merciful,
-
will look upon our cries and intercession and send a rescue.
-
That's how it works. Somebody must decide, I'm going to sacrifice.
-
I'm going to pay that price so somebody might live
-
and not die. Hallelujah. Amen.
