Clay, it is already a good start to this
-
Sunday. Amen. Amen. Amen. Guys, for
-
real, if
-
you all you got to do say, "God, the
-
rest of my life, I don't know how long
-
it's going to be. I don't know how short
-
it's going to
-
be." If you make that decision, you make
-
that commitment to the
-
Lord, I want to I I just I just praise
-
the Lord because it's the greatest
-
decision you will ever make.
-
And it's it's I I've been able to have
-
the conversation. I'm a little extra
-
amped today. So, you're going to have to
-
give me
-
grace. I got three kids getting baptized
-
today. And it's been so fun having these
-
conversations going, "Hey, you're young,
-
you're eight, you're 10, you're 12. Are
-
you sure as you grow older that you're
-
gonna want to stick with this commitment
-
because this is a this is till the
-
grave? It's a big decision to make when
-
you're young. It's a big decision to
-
make when you're old. It's a big
-
decision to make at any time. But it's
-
the greatest decision you will ever
-
make. You will ever make. And I
-
guarantee you, I've made a lot of
-
decisions I regret. Anybody with me?
-
Anybody with me? Come on. Yes. You will
-
never regret giving absolutely
-
everything to
-
Christ. You will
-
not. So, what I want to do is I want to
-
I want to get us started
-
here. I don't know about
-
you, but I feel like I've heard this
-
statement. We're in unprecedented times
-
way more than I'm comfortable with
-
recently. Anybody with me? Right? Like,
-
oh my goodness. Have you heard about
-
this this
-
international like issues going on?
-
We're this is
-
unprecedented. Can you believe this this
-
virus that shut the whole world down?
-
It's absolutely
-
unprecedented. The technology that's out
-
there, the the the powers, the the
-
corporate powerful people and all these
-
policies and and it's
-
unprecedented. I don't know about you
-
guys, sometime I'm I'm getting sick of
-
it.
-
It's easy in the world that we live in
-
to start to feel totally out of control,
-
right? Like whether it is whether it's
-
like what do I do with
-
AI? Whether it's like how like what's up
-
with these taxes? Didn't we ditch
-
England for less than this, right? Like
-
whether it's all these powerful
-
organizations that are telling me what I
-
got to do and and how much I got to pay
-
and whether I can have a house or not
-
and like all this stuff. And I'm like, I
-
feel like I'm just this little pawn in
-
this big pool and I don't really know
-
what to do. And it feels a little bit
-
outside of my
-
control. I don't know about you guys, if
-
you've ever
-
felt out of control because what am I
-
supposed to
-
do if I'm a fan of AI or if I'm against
-
AI?
-
What what does it
-
change? What if I'm afraid of what it's
-
going to bring? Well, I I don't I don't
-
know. What can I
-
do? Seems like that ball's already
-
rolling. The reality is is that if you
-
look at this type of feeling, whenever
-
you go, man, the the it seems like
-
there's bigger, higher, more powerful
-
people than me that are determining a
-
lot about my life, more than I feel
-
comfortable
-
with. And if whenever you feel that,
-
believe it or not, that's actually more
-
common than not throughout the history
-
of specifically within the Bible as
-
well, within Christians and followers of
-
the Lord. You see that? This is more
-
common than them going, "Oh man, I'm in
-
this place where I just I trust my
-
leaders. We got a great king. We got a
-
great authority above us. It's a good
-
power that is in
-
control sitting on the throne. And the
-
reality is is that more often than
-
not when we when we think about the the
-
people that are in the the places of
-
power and leading these organizations
-
and these governments. And we like to
-
think about powerful people like
-
Superman.
-
really
-
powerful, also really good and just
-
wants to help, just wants to defend the
-
everybody else and wants to be
-
compassionate. When in
-
reality, most evidence points to it's a
-
little bit more like
-
Homelander. Anybody
-
familiar? Put your hand down. You should
-
not be I don't I'm
-
kidding. Homelander to my I haven't seen
-
I haven't seen the show The Boys, but
-
there's this there's it's The Boys,
-
right? Right. I'm not making that right.
-
It's the boys and there's I So I I chat
-
GPT this so I know I know a little bit.
-
I know a little bit. Okay. Kind of a big
-
deal. Uh no, Homelander is like this
-
more honestly more realistic Superman.
-
He's Superman. All got all the powers.
-
Everybody loves him, but he's an
-
absolute narcissist and he's crazy and
-
he's unpredictable and he's getting
-
crazier as the show goes on. Is that
-
accurate? Yeah. Okay. So, he's like this
-
violent, crazy, super powerful dude
-
that's probably more realistic if
-
Superman was
-
real, right? Because we all got sin
-
inside of us. And as you get more money,
-
as you get more power, as you get more
-
authority, usually what it does is it
-
just amplifies whoever you already
-
are. And so, this is the this is the
-
problem. In fact, anytime I feel that
-
weight of out of control, what do I do
-
about these powers above me? Romans 8:31
-
through39, that's been our passage for
-
this series, is the best passage to read
-
on this. Can we read this? Go to the
-
word when you're nervous. Go to the word
-
every single time. Romans 8:31. Here we
-
go. I'm going to pull it up until we get
-
it up on the screen. Romans chapter 8:31
-
says, "What then shall we say to these
-
things? If God is for us, who can be
-
against us? Come on. He did not even
-
spare his own son, but gave him up for
-
us all. How will he not also with him
-
grant us
-
everything?" Who can bring an accusation
-
against God's
-
elect? God is the one who justifies.
-
Who is the one who condemns? Christ is
-
the one who died, but even more has been
-
raised. Where are we at? Hold on. I'm
-
losing my spot. Here we go. Has been
-
raised. He is also at the right hand of
-
God and intercedes for us. Verse 35. Who
-
can separate us from the love of Christ?
-
Can affliction or distress or
-
persecution or famine or nakedness or
-
danger a sword? As it's written, because
-
of you, we are being put to death all
-
day long. We're counted as sheep to be
-
slaughtered. Verse 37, knowing all these
-
things, we are more than conquerors
-
through him who loved us. And then this
-
is the core passage. Verse 38 through39.
-
Here we go. For I am convinced, I am
-
persuaded that neither death nor life,
-
nor angels, nor rulers or demons, nor
-
things present or things to come, nor
-
powers, nor heights, nor depth, nor any
-
other created thing will be able to
-
separate us from the love of God that is
-
in Christ Jesus. Amen.
-
Now, this is one of those truths that we
-
know
-
it, but man, we miss it in our hearts so
-
many times.
-
Right. Right. It's not my natural
-
reaction to come out of a diagnosis
-
conversation with the doctor, get bad
-
news, and go, "Oh, but I know God's
-
bigger than this." That's not
-
natural. I know when after the
-
conversation with the boss and and I'm
-
like, "My job is in jeopardy, but don't
-
you worry. I know my God is bigger than
-
my job. Amen. I feel
-
good. That's just not natural, right?
-
That's not We We don't We don't feel
-
that. Maybe I can like try to disciple
-
and lead my soul into believing that
-
when in reality, because I know it, but
-
I
-
don't. I kind of hope it to be true.
-
It's been true
-
before, but right now feels like the
-
exception. Anybody with me? Anybody been
-
there where it feels like this problem,
-
this issue is
-
bigger. And I know God's bigger. I just
-
don't see how he is
-
ever going to overcome this
-
one. See, the passage that we're focus
-
the words that we're focusing on today
-
is I'm persuaded that neither rulers nor
-
powers will be able to separate us from
-
the love of God. So that that word
-
powers is actually in Greek the original
-
language this was written in is dunamos.
-
It's the word we get dynamite from. It's
-
like powerful. Not just like hoa
-
president powerful, right? Like got
-
power, right? Dynamite is not just a
-
firecracker. That stalker can do some
-
damage. And so this is this is this deep
-
power whether it's spiritual or whether
-
it's authority. And I don't think that
-
Paul when he's writing this is concerned
-
about powers of good, right? We're not
-
worried. No one gets home from work and
-
goes, "Oh man, I got this boss. They're
-
amazing. I'm afraid they're going to
-
give me a raise. Like, what am I going
-
to do?" Like, I think they're really
-
going to treat everyone
-
fairly, right? Like, no one no one fears
-
that. No one's worried about good
-
powers. We get concerned about people
-
who are in power and the powers that are
-
around us that are outside of our
-
control that also look like their powers
-
of darkness. Whether that's a person or
-
a spiritual entity or feeling or or
-
trajectory that's heading us that we see
-
is leaning towards darkness.
-
See, this
-
is this is where today what I want to
-
talk about and I want to speak into
-
this. Whenever you have that that
-
moment, whenever you feel that in the
-
world and the unprecedented world around
-
us, remember God's kingdom is
-
unstoppable. His kingdom is absolutely
-
unstoppable. And my favorite passage
-
that highlights this is actually in
-
Daniel chapter 2. If you guys want to
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
open up your Bibles, it's Old Testament
-
Daniel chapter 2. We're going to be uh
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
skimming through this kind of like
-
skipping rocks, bouncing from right
-
right through it. But here's the idea.
-
When we talk about the kingdom of God, I
-
don't want us to think about this.
-
Sometimes people think the kingdom of
-
God, oh, okay, America, right? The
-
kingdom of God, because this is God's
-
blessed nation. Wrong. When we're
-
talking about the kingdom of God, we're
-
not talking about geopolitical Israel.
-
the kingdom of God. There's this there's
-
this trend that's that that tends to
-
lean towards and move towards this this
-
move called Christian nationalism which
-
which tries to make political the things
-
of the Lord that are
-
spiritual. And I agree with some of it
-
that yes, morality needs to be based on
-
something. Just like in a household, I
-
build my rules based off of something.
-
The nation's laws has to be built on
-
something and it should be built on the
-
word of God. But I cannot
-
mandate spiritual practices. The Lord
-
himself didn't even do
-
that. He says, "I want you to choose
-
whether you're going to follow me or
-
not." And this is and so we've gotten
-
the all these all these pendulum
-
swings that Christian nationalism says
-
everybody we need to mandate
-
Christianity in our nation.
-
The other side says, "No, we need a full
-
separation of church and state, and we
-
need to make sure that no one that
-
doesn't step a foot in church ever hears
-
about
-
Jesus." There's this segregation that
-
neither one are good. And we got to
-
figure out there's a truth that lies in
-
the middle here. See, the kingdom of God
-
is not the US. The kingdom of God is not
-
Israel. The kingdom of God is not any of
-
these things. The kingdom of God as we
-
see within the word of God, it's
-
actually the movement and the activity
-
of God on the
-
earth, particularly through his people.
-
I see the kingdom of God moving all the
-
time. It's his people. It's his hand in
-
motion. Usually, it involves his people.
-
A very small amount of time is just God
-
doing his
-
thing. That's the kingdom of God. So
-
when we talk about the kingdom of God
-
being unstoppable, that's what we're
-
talking
-
about. Okay. So now our question, go
-
back to Daniel chapter 2. Here's the
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
question. When what do I do when I'm
-
under ungodly
-
authority? You may have a boss in this
-
room so you don't have to like I I'll
-
I'll phrase this not just for right now,
-
but period. If you've ever ever been
-
under a leader, ever been under a boss
-
that you're like that's that person is
-
just a bad leader. They they are they
-
are here for themselves and everybody
-
else is the step that they can step on
-
on the way up. Anybody? Come on. Right.
-
I know I'm not alone. I've been there.
-
I've been there. I've had it. It's so
-
frustrating. So, where they're at, where
-
what is going on in Daniel chapter 2,
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
this is they're exactly in the same
-
spot. So, this is before Jesus has ever
-
come. This is uh after Israel has done
-
like hundreds of years of being really
-
really crappy at following God. Like
-
really bad. So bad that God's like, "I'm
-
done. We're going to take a break. I
-
just need to I I I need a timeout. Okay,
-
I need a little space." You're on the
-
couch for a little bit, right? It's that
-
kind of idea. It is I'm I need some
-
space. And so what does he do? He
-
exiles. They were in this promised land.
-
God promised it. It's amazing. They keep
-
messing it up. And so he's like, "I'm
-
done. I'm taking you out. I'm using
-
Assyria. I'm using Babylon to come over,
-
take you over. Now you are
-
slaves. You had freedom, but you didn't
-
carry the responsibility with the
-
freedom. So now you're
-
slaves." And they're under this at this
-
time of Daniel. They're under the king
-
Nebuchadnezzar. And Babylon is not just
-
The reason you've probably heard of
-
Babylon isn't just because it's in a lot
-
of Bible stories. It's because it's one
-
of the most powerful dynasties that has
-
ever existed.
-
It is ruling the known world. And so,
-
King Nebuchadnezzar, if he rules over
-
Babylon, that means that there's
-
multiple other kings that he is in
-
charge of. And he has conquered anywhere
-
he goes, he
-
conquers. And he is on this high horse.
-
And so, he goes over to Israel. He
-
conquers Israel. And we see in scripture
-
that God allows this, that this is led
-
by God. It's not just the enemy at work.
-
We've talked about that sometimes. We
-
attribute it to Satan where God's like,
-
"Actually, that one was
-
me. I'm working something through you
-
right
-
now." And here's the reality. This is
-
there. So, they're in this exile. And
-
then we get this this amazing It's about
-
600 years BC, 600 years before Jesus.
-
And you get amazing stories in the book
-
of Daniel. You got the Daniel fast. If
-
you've ever heard of that, that's Daniel
Daniel 1 chapter mention
-
chapter 1. You got the stories about
-
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, not
-
bowing down to the to the the statue,
-
and then they get thrown in the fiery
-
furnace, but they walk back out alive
-
and unined. Right? Amen. You get Daniel
-
praying when praying became illegal,
-
getting thrown into a lion's den. The
-
lion's mouths are shut. He comes back
-
out and it's all these amazing things.
-
You get a hand that literally appears
-
out of nowhere and begins writing on the
-
wall in the palace. You got all this
-
incredible stuff. All these stories come
-
from here. And one of the stories in
-
Daniel chapter 2 specifically is about
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
Nebuchadnezzar's
-
dream. Nebuchadnezzar has this dream and
-
he's asking and Nebuchadnezzar is like
-
the the like he's a volatile king. He is
-
a little bit nuts. Even when he does
-
stuff right, it's like the wrong way.
-
Okay. He said, and when he realizes how
-
great God is, he's like, "God's amazing.
-
Everyone should follow him." And then
-
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who
-
he's talking to are like, "Yeah, yeah, I
-
know." And he says, "So if you don't,
-
I'm going to rip you limb from limb and
-
burn your house
-
down." All right. Can we pull that back
-
a couple steps? Right. That's
-
Nebuchadnezzar. Like that's him. He's
-
like, "Do the right thing even in the
-
wrong way." He's a little bit crazy. And
-
so this is this is he has this dream and
-
what does he do? He says, "I had a
-
dream. It intimid scared me and it's for
-
real. It's like a real dream, not like a
-
not like a that was weird. It was like I
-
know this dream comes with power. I know
-
it comes with authority. I know there's
-
something behind it, but I need someone
-
to tell me what it means. And there all
-
the wise men go, okay, tell us the dream
-
and we'll tell you. He goes, uh, you
-
have to tell me the dream that I
-
had and then you have to interpret the
-
dream for me. And of course, they say,
-
"That's
-
impossible. That's impossible. How am I
-
ever supposed to do that? No one can do
-
So he's like, "Okay, I'm going to kill
-
y'all." That's literally his response.
-
He's, "I'm just going to kill all the
-
wise men. I'm going to kill all the
-
dream interpreters." Daniel goes, "Time
-
out. Hold on. Wait. Give me a second.
-
Let me talk to the giver of dreams. I'm
-
going to talk to
-
God." And he goes and he prays. He seeks
-
the Lord. The Lord reveals the dream to
-
him. And then he goes back to King
-
Nebuchadnezzar. And this is this is all
-
a summary. You can read this in Romans
Romans 2 chapter mention
-
chapter 2 or Daniel chapter 2. And he
Daniel 2 chapter mention
-
says, uh, and and get, can we get the
-
picture up? The picture of the statue.
-
This is the dream that he has. And he
-
has this dream of this massive statue,
-
this towering way bigger than anybody
-
can can build on their own. And it's got
-
this head of gold, and it's got this
-
this chest and arms of
-
silver. And then it's got this bronze.
-
It says waist and thighs. It's got this
-
bronze waist. and then iron make up the
-
legs. And then if you can see the feet,
-
it's a mixture of clay and
-
iron. And he tells this to the king.
-
Like this is incredibly specific. And
-
then you see this rock that comes in.
-
And when it comes in, it smashes the
-
feet. The whole thing gets turned, not
-
just crumbles down, but gets turned into
-
dust and it's disappeared. There's no
-
evidence of it. Totally gone.
-
And it's it's it just came with this
-
dread this dream did. And
-
Daniel in verse 30 chapter 2 verse
-
37. This is what he starts with. And he
-
models here what it's like to live and
-
to operate under ungodly authority that
-
we can model as well. He starts off with
-
this. Your majesty. You are king of
-
kings. The God of heavens has given you
-
sovereignty, power, strength, and glory.
-
Wherever people live or wild animals or
-
birds of the sky, he has handed them
-
over to you and made you ruler over all
-
of them. You are the head of
-
gold. Now, he could have just said that
-
last sentence and stuck with it.
-
What Daniel does is he's revealing God,
-
but he's also giving incredible honor.
-
As you see, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach,
-
and Abednego, all four of them give
-
incredible honor to this king that
-
literally they're talking to him about
-
the command that should kill them. And
-
every single time that they're talking
-
to the king, they're talking to him
-
right after he's about to or trying to
-
or hoping to kill them or just attempted
-
to.
-
And so this is they're not just like,
-
"Oh, I think we're on good terms right
-
now. I think we're okay." And what do
-
they do? They still come with high
-
honor. Oh, king, majesty, the king, you
-
are a king of kings, not the king of
-
kings, but you are a king who's over
-
kings. He gives incredible honor uh in
-
Romans chapter 13. So, five chapters
Romans 13 chapter mention
-
after the main passage for this series,
-
Paul writes this down. He says, "Let
-
everyone submit to the governing
-
authorities. Since there's no authority
-
except from
-
who?" Except from God. And the
-
authorities that exist are instituted by
-
God. So then the one who resists the
-
authority is opposing God's command. And
-
those who oppose it will bring judgment
-
on themselves. How do I operate under
-
ungodly authority? Number one, I've got
-
to honor my
-
authorities. I still have
-
to Honor's such an unknown principle in
-
Western society in in America. We're all
-
very individual. We don't want to
-
highlight or give honor to anyone else.
-
We want everyone else to know, "No, no,
-
no. I I did most of the work on that
-
project. That was me." No, no, no, no.
-
You don't understand. I'm the one who
-
I'm the one who transformed. I'm the one
-
who's doing the workouts and so I and I
-
transformed my body, right? I'm the one
-
over here, dude. Don't watch out. I'm
-
the one who restored that relationship.
-
I'm the one who fixed that. I'm the one
-
who solved that problem. I'm the one who
-
did that. Like, we love the credit.
-
Honor gives it is generous. Honor gives
-
credit and glory to other people and
-
says, "No, you you're the reason I'm
-
here. I want to honor you. I want to
-
celebrate you." In fact, if you look at
-
how does God move? Faith and honor are
-
two of the key principles that God moves
-
through in our in in in our actions. He
-
moves through faith. And then what do
-
you see when Jesus goes to Nazareth and
-
he's not able to do any miracles? It
-
says because a prophet is without
-
what? Honor. In his
-
hometown. There was no honor.
-
Sometimes the problem that I'm seeing in
-
my workplace isn't because my boss has
-
got to fix it, but because I whether
-
it's in work, whether it's at home,
-
whether or wherever it may be, wherever
-
you face
-
authorities, maybe the problem is that
-
I'm not modeling the honor and therefore
-
setting up the right relationship there.
-
I want to encourage us to lean deeper,
-
lean harder into
-
honor and learn how to honor in ways
-
that are
-
illogical and frustrating and don't make
-
sense. I'm going to try to find
-
something good to say about this person
-
because it's hard to that kind of honor,
-
right? We have as our leadership
-
behaviors, we have a bunch of leadership
-
behaviors. One of them is honor. We
-
believe that it's a important part of
-
any organizational structure. And this
-
is what we say. Every person around me
-
is deserving of both
-
positional based off of the position
-
that they carry and personal honor
-
because they are made in the image of
-
God. Honor is not optional. It's one of
-
those things.
-
Trust,
-
dependency,
-
collaboration optional. Honor not
-
optional. Love not optional. Forgiveness
-
not optional. Honor is one of those
-
things. It's not optional. It's not
-
earned. It's
-
given. I think this is what's different
-
between honor and respect. I can respect
-
your skill set or I can not respect your
-
skill set, but I can still honor you.
-
Right? You don't want me painting a
-
mural on the side of your house. You do
-
not want that. Do not respect my skill
-
set. That would I would not I would not
-
do that. So here here's the big deal,
-
right? Honor your authorities. Number
-
one,
-
until until there's a limit. There's a
-
limit at which we honor our authorities.
-
And it steps right into step number two.
-
When under ungodly authorities, honor
-
your authorities until it's time to
-
honor God's authority first.
-
And you'll see this throughout the the
-
reason Daniel's talking to
-
Nebuchadnezzar is because he chose not
-
to honor the authority. You just go,
-
"Oh, the command's been given. No, I'm
-
going to go before the
-
king. You give me a diet. No, no, no.
-
I'm going to change my diet. I I I need
-
to do this diet. You tell me not to
-
pray, it doesn't matter. I'm still
-
praying. You tell me to bow down. I'm
-
not bowing down.
-
I honor authority until it they're
-
trying to supersede and it causes for me
-
not to obey God's authority. Acts 5:29,
-
this is what happens. Peter is literally
-
before the high
-
priest, the spiritual
-
leader, and he's being asked, "Stop
-
preaching about Jesus. Not stop
-
worshiping Jesus. Not stop praying to
-
Jesus. Now, you can still go to church.
-
You can still hold all that stuff. just
-
stop preaching about it. Stop being so
-
outward about your faith. It's it's
-
bugging people. It's offending people.
-
Me in particular, he's
-
saying. And this is what Peter and the
-
apostles replied. We must obey God
-
rather than
-
people. I honor people because of my
-
honor for the Lord. And so therefore,
-
when you tell me to dishonor God by the
-
way I honor you, I already know what
-
decision I've made. And I will honor my
-
authorities until it's time for me to
-
show that my honor is ultimately and
-
only to and from and for my God, my
-
king. So we see this and then the
-
reality. So I
-
honor my authorities until Can we get
-
those points back up? And then we see
-
Jesus
-
actually in Matthew
-
28:18 talks about this. So all authority
-
comes from God. Right? Then Jesus says
-
in Matthew 28:18, he says, "All
-
authority in heaven on earth belongs
-
to me, has been given to me."
-
It's one of his many claims of deity
-
where he identifies himself not just as
-
a man but as God
-
himself. All authority has been given to
-
me. This is where I want us to conclude
-
here. If we can get the band to come up.
-
Know the
-
endgame. Know the end game. Know what's
-
actually going to happen. Because here's
-
here's if we can get the statue. Let's
-
get the statue up. this
-
statue. Y'all wondering what the
-
interpretation of the dream was? Here we
-
go. You are the head of gold, the
-
Babylonian Empire, one of the greatest
-
empires ever. Powerful, strong, full
-
sweeping, the
-
head. But after you, Babylon will
-
die. Babylon will be taken over by a
-
middle Mesopotamian Persian Empire.
-
And in about 580 I want to say let me
-
see where is that where is I'm not good
-
about 539 about 539 you get this new
-
empire that comes in 539 BC he says but
-
that empire will
-
end and then you've get about 331 BC
-
you'll get the Greek empire and that's
-
the bronze mid and
-
thighs and then the one that most of us
-
are familiar
-
with. Then there will rise up a Roman
-
empire, a new empire. And he didn't have
-
names for this at that time. This is 600
-
years prior to
-
Jesus. And for the feats, it's iron. Oh,
-
it's this fiercely strong empire. And
-
guess what? It's going to get divided
-
and it's going to be cut into iron and
-
clay. And that doesn't mesh. That
-
doesn't mix.
-
And so during this
-
time, the Lord is revealing to you that
-
during the time of the Roman Empire, he
-
doesn't have that name, but during the
-
time of this iron empire, it'll begin to
-
split and there will be a new empire, a
-
new kingdom that gets established. And
-
this rock that's cut from by no man's
-
hand and thrown out will conquer every
-
single one of these and will show that
-
there is a kingdom that stands that
-
lasts forever. And guess who that is?
-
That's our Messiah, our Lord Jesus
-
Christ. Right at that same time that is
-
prophesied 600 years earlier.
-
What's
-
amazing is that this is this is why many
-
Jews don't love to study the book of
-
Daniel because it prophesies the date of
-
the Messiah and it lands on Jesus
-
birthday. Here's the
-
reality. I don't care how powerful the
-
powers around you look.
-
I don't care whether you're a fan of
-
President Trump or not. I don't care if
-
you are a patriot or you hate this
-
nation. Our president will not be
-
president forever. Our nation will not
-
be powerful forever. There will come a
-
crumbling down. But I will tell you,
-
there is a kingdom that never
-
will. There is a king that will never
-
step off of his throne. There's a king
-
whose power only
-
increases and that's the king that I
-
follow. Amen. Can we stand around
-
here? God is still king. See, when
-
everything seems unprecedented, what
-
that means is God is about to lead an
-
unprecedented
-
victory. Christ is king. His kingdom is
-
unstoppable. Even when the world's out
-
of
-
control, God is still reigning. Even
-
when it looks like evil is in charge,
-
even when I'm nervous about who's at who
-
who's who's moving the pieces around
-
right now, I'll tell you what, it's
-
either led by God or allowed by God. So,
-
we're going to be
-
okay. I got a promise that lasts much
-
longer. So, what do we do with this?
-
What do we do with this? First of all,
-
we've got to honor. We've got to honor
-
the
-
authorities. I encourage you, any
-
authority that you have a hard time
-
honoring, this is how you do it. Pray
-
for
-
them. Every single one of us, regardless
-
of your political stance, needs to pray
-
for every single president that we
-
have. We need to be praying for our
-
political leaders. We need to be praying
-
for our workplace leaders. We need to be
-
praying for our HOA
-
presidents. We need to be praying for
-
all of them.
-
Choose honor of your authorities because
-
here's the reality. This picture shows
-
that their power is limited. Limited by
-
God and limited by time. It's not going
-
to be forever. I cannot guarantee I
-
cannot guarantee you're going to have
-
your job tomorrow. I cannot guarantee
-
your boss is going to have their job
-
tomorrow. I cannot guarantee that you're
-
going to be living tomorrow. I can
-
guarantee you, you will come face to
-
face with the King of Kings and the Lord
-
of Lords. And that at that moment,
-
everything else is going to fade away.
-
Nothing else is really going to matter
-
all that
-
much. And I want to ask you to respond
-
accordingly. So,
-
honor according to the authority that
-
God has
-
permitted. And for those of you in this
-
room, I got some leaders in this
-
room. And what I want to ask for you to
-
do is to steward. The authority is not
-
from you. You didn't get yourself on
-
this
-
mountaintop. He put you there. Authority
-
comes from God. You're in a place and
-
for a purpose to honor and to glorify
-
God with your position. Steward your
-
role for the sake of his glory.
-
Boldly. Boldly.
-
When's the last time you got told you
-
had to shut up because you're preaching
-
too
-
much? I'm getting told that right now.
-
But just kidding. That's the clock
-
there. You got You got grace for me.
-
Okay. Okay. And then this is what I want
-
to say. I want to say
-
this. I can't tell you where to invest
-
and where not to invest. I can't tell
-
you what what what bets to make. I can't
-
tell you what's going to win you. But I
-
can tell
-
you go all in and double down on Christ.
-
The authority there is the only thing
-
that's going to last. For some of you in
-
this
-
room, I want to ask for you to respond
-
to the poll that the Lord's doing in
-
your heart to say, "It's my
-
time. I say yes to
-
him. I'm going for the King of Kings.
-
I'm not going to choose find a political
-
leader. I'm not going to try to become
-
my own leader. I'm not going to try to
-
pursue my own thing. Maybe that's part
-
of the the the role that God has for
-
you. But guess what? God's got a greater
-
role. God's got a greater power. He's
-
got a greater thing. And it is all
-
coming from him and going right back to
-
him.
-
Amen. And so I want I want to ask us,
-
let's honor, let's
-
steward, and let's
-
surrender. If that's you in here and you
-
go, I'm gonna surrender to the King of
-
Kings for the first time ever. For the
-
first time in a long time, would you
-
just put your hand up real quick just so
-
I can see you? I want to be able to see
-
because I don't want you to be alone. I
-
don't want you to be alone. Come
-
on. Come on. Where you at? I know we got
-
a couple of you in
-
here. God's
-
moving. This is your chance to respond.
-
I saw
-
that. Come
-
on. This is boldness. This is courage.
-
And I want to ask for you to respond and
-
just come find me after. We're going to
-
be right outside. We're going to do
-
baptisms. It's going to be a blast. Find
-
me
-
after. Say, "Hey, I I need to get some
-
stuff right with the
-
Lord." Okay. Can we pray?
-
Heavenly Father, right
-
now I ask that in all the fears and all
-
the unprecedented times, we are not
-
afraid. We do not have to be afraid
-
because our fear is rooted only in the
-
Lord, not in man, not in
-
technology, not in powers of this world.
-
No, not any other created thing can stop
-
the incredible love of God. So we
-
declare no matter what you have our
-
undying
-
allegiance. You have our lives. I pray
-
that you would correct our view of the
-
politicians. I pray you would correct
-
our view of the authorities around us. I
-
pray you would correct our view, dis
-
disciple our hearts, discipline our
-
hearts that we may honor those in
-
authority around us, and we may steward
-
the authority that you've given to us.
-
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray.
-
Amen. Amen. Come on, can we give a hand
-
for the word of the Lord?
-
[Music]
