  1. Heat. Heat.

  2. this Christmas season. Do I got any uh

  3. people who is like this is your time of

  4. year, right? When you jam out and this

  5. is your favorite season. Anybody? Come

  6. on, let's go. I got like all the I don't

  7. know what to call it. Elves, right? Like

  8. like this is your this is your time.

  9. This is your season. Uh, I I am I I'm so

  10. grateful that we get to come together. I

  11. so great I'm so grateful that we get to

  12. have this time. Isn't that photo booth

  13. outside just beautiful? Who's taking

  14. advantage of that photo booth so far?

  15. That's our events team here just to try

  16. to make this experience

  17. something memorable for you and for your

  18. families and so that we can be a

  19. blessing as you guys are coming in here.

  20. Uh, and and I got to say I just I get

  21. filled with so much gratitude. uh being

  22. together and in this time and uh for

  23. family and uh there's there's a lot of

  24. things as we talk about the light of the

  25. world in this season. There's a lot of

  26. things that it just makes me so grateful

  27. for. Uh but

  28. but I was thinking as I was thinking

  29. about a light, I was thinking about how

  30. my wife is always a light to me. Right.

  31. >> Right. Yes.

  32. and she does almost nothing wrong, but

  33. this I hold against her

  34. every once in a while when we're laying

  35. in bed and and you know like pillow talk

  36. and we're trying to we're wind we're

  37. winding down and she may she may go, "Oh

  38. my goodness, I saw this video or this

  39. sermon clip or this uh illustration or

  40. this little boy that hugged his mom or

  41. like I don't know, right? Like I saw

  42. this video. You need to see it." and she

  43. will hand me her phone

  44. and you know it's like lights are off,

  45. the room is dark and she hands ME HER

  46. PHONE ON FULL BRIGHTNESS

  47. AND IT'S GOT THE IT'S GOT THE LIGHT OF

  48. 10,000 SUNS. MY RETINAS are immediately

  49. burned. I can't see anything. And she's

  50. like, "Look at it." And I'm like, "I

  51. can't. I don't know if I'll BE ABLE TO

  52. SEE TOMORROW."

  53. His government and its peace will never

  54. end. He, this person, this prophesied

  55. Messiah will rule with fairness

  56. and justice from the throne of his

  57. ancestor David for all eternity. The

  58. passionate commitment of the Lord of

  59. heaven's armies will make this happen.

  60. So, this is crazy. This is a prophecy

  61. that gets really specific

  62. that there will be

  63. in a time of deep great darkness,

  64. there will be a light that comes and

  65. this light is going to come in the form

  66. of a baby. And this baby will eventually

  67. bring light to this area between the Sea

  68. of Galilee and the Mediterranean Sea.

  69. And that'll kind of be this home of this

  70. light in this area of Galilee of the

  71. Gentiles. And the light's not only going

  72. to be for the Jews, but also for the

  73. Gentiles. And that we're going to see

  74. that this this LIGHT COMES AND IT'S NOT

  75. ONLY going to be a light of a good

  76. person, but it's going to be called a

  77. wonderful counselor. Mighty God.

  78. Mighty God. So, this is going to be God

  79. in the flesh coming down to be born and

  80. to minister in this area of Galilee.

  81. Isn't that incredibly specific? 700

  82. years prior to the birth of Christ.

  83. It is this incredible

  84. prophecy that we look at and we go if

  85. you want if you want to wrestle with I

  86. think it's important too and to look at

  87. things like is Jesus actually the

  88. Messiah that was prophesied you got to

  89. look to prophecies like this keep nine

  90. uh Isaiah 96 through7 pulled up uh that

  91. that is that that looks to this and

  92. actually begins to speak into such

  93. specific details And if not, if you

  94. haven't ever had those questions, I

  95. think it's important to remember for

  96. your friends that may because there's a

  97. lot of weird stuff, a lot of false

  98. truth, a lot of false things going on.

  99. In fact, we see that now

  100. in this picture that as it was

  101. prophesied and then you see the reality

  102. later because

  103. what we're talking about today is we're

  104. talking about a land filled with

  105. darkness.

  106. And we've talked about how Jesus is the

  107. light of the world, but there's darkness

  108. around us and there's darkness in us,

  109. right?

  110. What I want to talk about today is

  111. defeating your darkness.

  112. Defeating your darkness. And this is

  113. this is where we see that the the light

  114. of the world, the light of Christ

  115. overcomes

  116. all darkness.

  117. But here's the here's the crazy thing

  118. about this Isaiah. So, if you Isaiah

    Isaiah 9 chapter mention

  119. chapter 9, if you've got that, if you

  120. pull back one chapter and just look at

  121. the verse right before Isaiah chapter 8

    Isaiah 8:22

  122. verse 22,

  123. if we can pull that up, Isaiah 8:22, it

    Isaiah 8:22

  124. says he's prophesying about a time right

  125. before this. says, "They will look to

  126. the earth, but behold distress,

  127. darkness, the gloom of anguish, and they

  128. will be thrust into thick darkness, or

  129. in other versions say a deep darkness.

  130. It's a season of silence. It's a season

  131. of darkness. It's a season of hardship,

  132. of oppression that he's prophesying

  133. about."

  134. And this is not, maybe this sounds

  135. familiar. Maybe this season right now

  136. looks like that to you.

  137. A season of deep darkness.

  138. And yet

  139. chapter 9 verse one it says this

  140. darkness will not go on forever.

  141. This too will pass.

  142. And to remember, did you know this

  143. darkness that actually was over Israel

  144. was was actually a judgment of God on

  145. them?

  146. The darkness was not even the enemy.

  147. This one was a hardship in a season of

  148. judgment that Israel needed for

  149. constantly

  150. disobeying and coming against God and

  151. chasing other idols and then saying,

  152. "Oh, but God, I want your good things

  153. still. I want you to bless me, but I

  154. want to do it my way. I still I I I want

  155. to come to you when it's helpful to me

  156. and abandon you when it's inconvenient."

  157. And he says, "If you're going to keep

  158. doing that, I'm you're going to

  159. experience judgment." And they do. and

  160. they end up experiencing judgment. But

  161. every single time, every single time

  162. when God judges, when God brings about

  163. judgment, he's always got a good plan

  164. and a good purpose that is intended to

  165. walk you into light and life. And that's

  166. exactly what we see here. We see that

  167. Israel needed this reset from idolatry.

  168. And they needed a place of going, this

  169. is what it's like when God's hand is

  170. removed.

  171. This is what it's like. And this is a

  172. lesson that we all need to pick up on

  173. because man, does that not sound

  174. familiar to some people in here? Does

  175. that sound familiar? When I need God, I

  176. go to God. When things are doing all

  177. right,

  178. I'm not praying quite as much. I still

  179. love him, right? Like I'm still a

  180. Christian. And I'm still like when

  181. things are going okay, I'm not I'm just

  182. not leaning in quite as hard. I'm just

  183. not I'm not I'm not chasing him as much.

  184. And like I think I kind of I I think

  185. I've got this thing figured out. I think

  186. I

  187. have mastered this thing. You know what?

  188. That last victory that I was praying for

  189. and then I was begging for, I think I

  190. really played kind of the big part in

  191. it.

  192. And we convince ourselves of these false

  193. victories and we take the medal that is

  194. deserving to God and instead

  195. claim it for ourselves.

  196. And we find that our distance with him

  197. increases

  198. actually in the easiest times. Many

  199. times that's how people's life works.

  200. When I need God, I draw near to God.

  201. when I don't need God or when I feel

  202. like I don't need God, I pull away. And

  203. they experience this judgment in this

  204. dark season. But in the same thing as we

  205. look at this, so 700 years later,

  206. 700 years later, you have this season of

  207. deep darkness. What did this look like?

  208. See over this same region, over the area

  209. where Jesus was born, you have the king

  210. and the ruler was Herod the Great. And

  211. Herod the Great

  212. was this. You never knew what you were

  213. what was coming. He just would he he was

  214. always afraid of someone taking over his

  215. throne. and he would kill anybody who he

  216. thought might potentially be going after

  217. his crown,

  218. including his wife, including three of

  219. his sons, including every boy in

  220. Bethlehem.

  221. if you come against and yet you want to

  222. know what he called himself he

  223. considered himself

  224. to be the king of the Jews

  225. was his self-proclamation

  226. because he was over this this Jewish

  227. society and he was the king over there

  228. and he's like aren't I so great aren't I

  229. so merciful aren't I not aren't I so

  230. kind I am one of you I helped to restore

  231. and help to beautify your temple I

  232. helped to build it and expand on it.

  233. Aren't I great? And people are like,

  234. "No, watch out. It's actually a time of

  235. deep darkness." He's bringing about this

  236. false. What he's trying to do is he's

  237. trying to call on David, King David, who

  238. we talked about in our last series. He

  239. He's trying to call upon this of like

  240. the king of the Jews. And he's like,

  241. "Aren't I Aren't I like David? Aren't I

  242. this picture?" See, the enemy will

  243. always try to bring about a false

  244. picture of the good thing that God is

  245. doing. Did you know the devil can't

  246. create?

  247. God's creator. So any sin, anything that

  248. the the enemy that Satan produces is

  249. actually a thing that God has created

  250. that's then been twisted and warped and

  251. perverted and twisted into something

  252. evil into something dark. And so in the

  253. same way, whenever you see something

  254. like this that you're like,

  255. I feel like this is

  256. this is bad, but it's got the it's got

  257. the right name on it. It's got the right

  258. picture. Just because someone slaps the

  259. name Jesus on their business does not

  260. make it a Christian business.

  261. Just because someone quotes a Bible

  262. verse does not make them a follower of

  263. Christ.

  264. Right? Just because I say I'll be

  265. praying for you or just because I say

  266. merry Christmas does not mean that I'm

  267. actually submitting to the purpose of

  268. this season. And in the same way, we see

  269. this se this season of deep darkness

  270. going on. But then we we look at this

  271. now as we call this back to Christmas

  272. because unto us a child is born. And as

  273. we take this into where we are right

  274. now, we look at a the darkest time of

  275. the year when the sun is at it is winter

  276. solstice.

  277. It is a season that that's actually was

  278. celebrated for thousands of years in

  279. pagan festivals. And there's a lot of

  280. people that say that Christmas has

  281. piggybacked on this in order to and and

  282. and this is why Christmas is a pagan

  283. holiday. Anybody ever heard that? Ever

  284. heard that? Yeah. Here's the reality.

  285. The reality is is that there's old

  286. traditions that say that Jesus was

  287. conceived on March 25th and so he would

  288. have been born on December 25th. And so

  289. that's where and then you also get this

  290. idea, this picture that was a Christian

  291. staple throughout all of history that

  292. these these Christians that have just

  293. left Judaism or just let whatever left

  294. whatever pagan religion they had and

  295. they're going, "How do we give this

  296. light out to the people around us?" And

  297. they would take they they would take

  298. these ideas and these principles and

  299. they'd find the good truths inside and

  300. say, "Actually, this is what we're

  301. celebrating." Like Paul does in Athens

  302. when he says, "Oh, I see that you guys

  303. worship a lot of gods. I want to talk to

  304. you about the one unknown god and who he

  305. is." And then he begins to give the

  306. testimony of Jesus. In the same way,

  307. Christians would use this time of pagan

  308. festivals to be able to when they when

  309. their friends say, "SO, WHAT ARE YOU

  310. doing for uh Saturn what what's it

  311. called? What's it called? Saturnitis or

  312. whatever the heck the celebration was

  313. called. What are you doing for this?"

  314. Yeah, that sounds like a disease. It I

  315. didn't say that right. I didn't say

  316. that. Uh but what are you doing for

  317. that? And they're saying, "Actually, I'm

  318. celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

  319. I'm doing that with my friends. That's

  320. why I'm bringing gifts to my workplace.

  321. That's why I'm bringing it into the

  322. marketplace. That's why I'm doing all

  323. this. Would you come and celebrate this

  324. with me?

  325. What's a better way to be the light in

  326. this time? And so, this was actually a

  327. missional purpose. The heart behind

  328. Christian behind Christmas was always

  329. Christ was always him. Was always to

  330. point to him and to in inject Christ

  331. into a lost world that desperately needs

  332. light. Isn't that amazing? I want to

  333. challenge you guys to find what's the

  334. gospel thread. What's the way that you

  335. can inject Christ

  336. into your life,

  337. into your celebrations, into the way

  338. that you not just go about Christmas Eve

  339. and Christmas Day, but actually get some

  340. light in there. Amen. Can we do that?

  341. Like be intentional at your workplace.

  342. What are you doing to inject the light

  343. of Christ in there? That's what we were

  344. talking about all last week. I'm going

  345. to keep it going. Okay, here we go. So,

  346. this is this is where we got to look at

  347. Isaiah 9 verse one. Pull that up again.

  348. Here he talks about bringing darkness

  349. into light. Turning darkness into light.

  350. And the darkness in your heart, the

  351. darkness in your story. There's a lot of

  352. different darkness that we have to see

  353. him overcome. In fact, Jesus, God wants

  354. to turn your darkness. God wants to turn

  355. your sin, your life, your story,

  356. yourself. He wants to turn it into

  357. light. And this is where we see from

  358. these passages.

  359. We see a couple different things when he

  360. talks about this the land of Zebulun and

  361. Naphali. What's going on is they

  362. actually this is the part

  363. of the nation that would begin to mingle

  364. with the surrounding nations. and not in

  365. a not in a good way of like being

  366. missional, but like we're taking on your

  367. gods. We're taking on your customs. And

  368. they were beginning to abandon their

  369. faith in the truth in the one true God.

  370. And they were beginning to and he says

  371. though you are here. So what is he

  372. highlighting? The first area that God

  373. wants to turn your darkness into light

  374. is actually your sin.

  375. Is actually an area and I want you you

  376. can write this down. God wants to turn

  377. your darkness into light. Your sin is

  378. the first area. This is where they have

  379. allowed for the enemy to come in and

  380. influence them. Instead of being a

  381. light, they are being overcome by

  382. darkness. And they're choosing these

  383. actions that are wrong, that are sinful.

  384. And whether you want to admit it or not,

  385. your sin has a massive impact on you.

  386. Not only in that sin separates you from

  387. your creator, but sin separates us from

  388. his perfect good plans for us. And I may

  389. try to remove and ignore the weight that

  390. my sin puts on me, but I cannot.

  391. I cannot

  392. see. Only Jesus

  393. can overcome this.

  394. What God wants to do is he actually

  395. wants to redeem your sin.

  396. He wants to take your sin. He wants to

  397. cover it up. But here's I was just

  398. having a conversation this last week

  399. with a gentleman who was talking to me

  400. about uh his his anger and he's like,

  401. "For my whole life, I've been angry.

  402. I've blown up. I've had a short fuse.

  403. I've had a quick temper. I've been so

  404. angry." And you want to know what,

  405. Pastor Drew? in just the last few months

  406. is I've been seeking Christ and pursuing

  407. him. It's like it's it's just

  408. disappearing. It's going away.

  409. We're able to talk about this this

  410. problem of like I can work on it without

  411. Christ, but here's the problem. I've got

  412. this sin issue. I've got this emotion

  413. and I got this SOMETHING THAT I GOT TO

  414. DO SOMETHING WITH. And so, what do I do

  415. in my anger? I sin. And so, BUT HOW DO I

  416. HOW DO I DO THIS? I have nowhere to put

  417. it. If you have no Christ, YOU HAVE NO

  418. PLACE TO actually lay this down. You

  419. just try to try to hide it and deal with

  420. it. In a lot of counseling, they're just

  421. like, "Hey, this is how you you try to

  422. fix it yourself or you try to just come

  423. to terms with the reality of your

  424. brokenness." And Jesus is like that can

  425. like I want you to come to terms with it

  426. but not in agreement and going I'm a

  427. sinful person and I need to lay this at

  428. the foot of Jesus. And you cannot lay

  429. your sin at the foot of a counselor. You

  430. cannot lay your sin at the foot of a

  431. pastor or a priest or anyone else. No

  432. human can do that. only Christ can be

  433. given our sin, take that down to the

  434. grave and give us victory and redeem it

  435. into something good. He want in the in

  436. the same way he takes this this darkness

  437. and this evil and this season of deep

  438. darkness when you look over the whole

  439. land and he says it's going to look so

  440. dark and he says and it's a lot because

  441. of sin.

  442. See, sin's not so powerful that God

  443. can't do anything about it.

  444. Your sin is not something that I hide

  445. from God. My sin is something that I

  446. expose to him and I give it to him. And

  447. suddenly when I've got whether it's

  448. anger, whether whether it's uh how I how

  449. I blow up at people or whatever my sin

  450. may be, suddenly when I have a place to

  451. put this within my soul, within myself,

  452. I have a place to put this and it's at

  453. the feet of him. And sudden now I I can

  454. get rid of it and I can step away. And

  455. now I'm free from this thing. I don't

  456. just have to hide it or stuff it in my

  457. pocket or brush it under the rug or

  458. ignore it or pretend like it's not

  459. there. I actually can give him my mess

  460. because he's the only one who has access

  461. to your heart, to your soul, to who you

  462. are. Let Jesus redeem your sin. You

  463. cannot place your sin and your guilt and

  464. your shame on any crystals, on any ju

  465. guu, on any power, on any person, on any

  466. good karma, on any good deeds. You

  467. cannot do that. It will do nothing for

  468. you. It will not remove that weight. I

  469. must give it to Christ. Amen.

  470. >> Amen. So God wants to turn your darkness

  471. into light. That is your sin. Your

  472. second thing, you can write this down.

  473. your story. Turn your darkness of your

  474. story. I don't know what your story may

  475. look like.

  476. I know every single story Morgan talked

  477. about a season of darkness that had

  478. nothing to do with us bringing in sin

  479. into a situation where we where we're

  480. wrestling through and we're trying to

  481. celebrate Christmas while while our

  482. daughter's life is hanging in the

  483. balance in the niku and we're going this

  484. is it's a season of darkness. Maybe your

  485. story looks like the darkness of your

  486. own mistakes.

  487. Maybe you're facing the consequences of

  488. your actions.

  489. Maybe your story has darkness injected

  490. in it by someone else.

  491. and their abandonment, their rejection,

  492. their harsh attitude, their abuse, their

  493. neglect,

  494. their lies that have echoed in your mind

  495. for decades

  496. continues

  497. to haunt you.

  498. And this is this is that darkness that

  499. Isaiah is talking about.

  500. He's talking about

  501. an area where the story has always been

  502. off.

  503. Where the story

  504. of this area of of Israel has always

  505. been dark,

  506. has been injected with their own

  507. mistakes, has been injected with the

  508. enemy's curse, has been injected just

  509. with hard times and dark seasons. And

  510. this is similar to what I think Mary

  511. must have felt 700 years later when an

  512. angel shows up in Luke chapter 1 says,

    Luke 1 chapter mention

  513. "Don't be afraid, Mary. For you have

  514. found favor with God.

  515. You will conceive and give birth to a

  516. son, and you will name him Jesus.

  517. He will be very great, and he'll be

  518. called the Son of the Most High. The

  519. Lord God will give him the throne of his

  520. ancestor David. Remember we that was

  521. just prophesied that this that this

  522. savior is going to come from the

  523. messianic line of David. And it says and

  524. he will reign over Israel forever. His

  525. kingdom will never end.

  526. I don't know what Mary's story was that

  527. she had built for her life, but I

  528. guarantee you it was not nearly as

  529. incredible as the story that God had

  530. written for her life.

  531. See, God wants to reshape

  532. your story.

  533. He wants to the the way that I find that

  534. he does this in in in ways that he never

  535. can. I know of people who have gone

  536. through and they talk about looking into

  537. their darkest, hardest seasons,

  538. the time when they're curled up as a kid

  539. in the corner of the room

  540. and I this a man told me this story

  541. about

  542. as his mother was getting beat and he's

  543. hiding and he's crying and years later

  544. he's trying he God highlights this to

  545. him and it's as If Jesus is in the room

  546. right there saying, "I'm I'm not I'm not

  547. lost. I'm not gone. You have not left my

  548. sight. I am still with you. I am

  549. protecting you. You are okay." And it's

  550. this this reshaping and this reforming

  551. of this old memory, this old darkness,

  552. this old season. And he says, "I want to

  553. reshape your story in a way where it

  554. doesn't look like hopelessness and like

  555. trauma and like issues, but I want to I

  556. want to reshape it into a story and a

  557. testimony.

  558. He's got more for you than just your

  559. past being cut off, stopped. Now I'm a

  560. new child in Christ and I start brand

  561. new." He says, "No, I'm actually gonna

  562. use that. I'm gonna use your old sin.

  563. I'm going to use your old story. And the

  564. last thing here

  565. that God wants to turn from darkness

  566. into life is your self.

  567. See, self is this this this you inside

  568. of you, right?

  569. When I reason with me, when I try to

  570. figure out what am I doing? Why am I

  571. feeling the way that I'm feeling? Self

  572. is that part of me. It's my soul. It's

  573. not just it's not my identity. It's not

  574. the way that I perceive me. It's not

  575. just my body. It is my soul, my myself,

  576. who I am. And I don't know how Mary

  577. perceived her self prior to this angel

  578. showing up.

  579. But as a as as a good Jewish girl,

  580. she certainly probably in her teens pro

  581. certainly did not would not have been

  582. expecting teen pregnancy to be on her

  583. on on on her list of life dreams.

  584. Certainly did not expect an angel to

  585. show up. Certainly did not expect to

  586. have to explain this to her fiance

  587. Joseph. certainly did not have to did

  588. not picture these things in the way that

  589. she thought that they were going to be.

  590. But I'll tell you what, who she thought

  591. she was, she what she did, the amazing

  592. thing about Mary that you see in this

  593. song that she writes right after she

  594. learns about this is that she gives

  595. herself

  596. and all this image, all this picture,

  597. all these dreams, all these like this is

  598. just what I should do. this is who I am.

  599. Instead of going, MAN, GOD, YOU'RE

  600. MESSING IT UP for me or you have messed

  601. me up or or I'm I I get to pick who I

  602. am. She looks to him. She listens to his

  603. voice and she says, "I lay my self at

  604. your feet and whoever you are calling me

  605. to be, I will be." See, in this world,

  606. we're told to do the exact opposite.

  607. We're told you build yourself.

  608. Yet, as we look at this guys, I'm

  609. telling you, the more you build yourself

  610. without

  611. surrendering self to Christ,

  612. the more depression rates rise, the more

  613. suicide rises, the more the more

  614. problems I run into, the more sin I get

  615. caught in, the more I'm finding myself

  616. caught in darkness.

  617. See, God wants to take who you think you

  618. are.

  619. And when I give it to him,

  620. he

  621. will redefine it.

  622. He will reshape your story. He will

  623. redeem your sin.

  624. And he's going to make it new. He's

  625. going to turn your sin into

  626. righteousness. He'll reshape your story

  627. into a testimony and he will redefine

  628. yourself into his true good perfect

  629. design. If we can stand up in here, what

  630. I want to do is as everyone stands up,

  631. go ahead.

  632. See John John 15. We can pull that up

  633. again. John chapter 1 verse 5, the very

    John 1:5

  634. last verse in that in in our main

  635. passage here. Here it says the light

  636. shines in the darkness and the darkness

  637. has not overcome it.

  638. The darkness has not overcome the light.

  639. The darkness cannot now. It'll try to

  640. convince you that your sin's too big.

  641. Your story's too bad.

  642. Your self has already been defined, has

  643. already been shaped. Your past has

  644. already made that. You've your decisions

  645. have already made that. You've already

  646. come to terms with all these issues.

  647. Yet, guess what? He wants to redeem

  648. that. He wants to reshape that. He wants

  649. to redefine that so that you will find

  650. light in him. It only happens in him.

  651. Lay down

  652. yourself.

  653. See, this is I I've had these I've had

  654. these moments in my life. For me, it was

  655. years ago. I was in a season of

  656. depression. And my depression had a

  657. little bit to do with my situation, but

  658. a lot to do with my darkness.

  659. Had a lot to do with my sin. I'm dealing

  660. with an addiction to pornography at the

  661. time. I had a lot to do with my story. I

  662. had I I I had a a a girlfriend cheat on

  663. me. I had moved and I didn't have

  664. friends. I had my grandma was sick and

  665. dying. I had all this stuff that was

  666. going on all at the same time. And I

  667. just I was young and I just I was so mad

  668. and I was so frustrated. And the only

  669. emotion I ever had genuinely

  670. I could fake a smile. I could fake a

  671. laugh. The only emotion I genuinely felt

  672. was anger.

  673. Everything else was numb.

  674. See, I had I had this sin I didn't want

  675. to let go of. I had this story that I

  676. was everybody else was the problem.

  677. everything else was the issue. And I had

  678. this self that I was hanging on to. And

  679. guess WHAT I WAS STILL DOING? I DIDN'T

  680. MISS A SUNDAY. I kept going to church.

  681. I was helping out in my in my church. I

  682. was serving. I was on the worship team.

  683. I was helping to lead junior highs in in

  684. ministry and Bible study and all this

  685. stuff. And I was I I was doing the right

  686. thing. But my action was there. Myself

  687. was not. My person was not. I had not

  688. given me to him and I was holding me

  689. back.

  690. And I want to I want to have us step

  691. into this moment.

  692. Can we pull up those three points here?

  693. God wants to turn your darkness into

  694. light.

  695. He's going to do it. He's going to do

  696. it. And I want to ask you guys,

  697. what's the part? What in you is the

  698. thing that you go, I need to I need to

  699. bring this out into the light. See,

  700. Jesus

  701. doesn't

  702. take your sin. He doesn't take your

  703. story and take yourself and turn it into

  704. something good. He receives it.

  705. He will He will absolutely transform

  706. you.

  707. He will change your story. these old

  708. traumas that continue to show up that

  709. cause me to cling on to old things, old

  710. habits, old addictions, old people, old

  711. problems that I've always had. If I lay

  712. them at his feet, if I bring them into

  713. his light, suddenly

  714. they do not carry the power that they

  715. once did.

  716. Suddenly,

  717. I get to walk in freedom

  718. instead of slavery to sin. I want to

  719. invite us into this. If God is calling

  720. you uh to to defeat your darkness, not

  721. by fighting harder, not by figuring out

  722. the right counseling, not by building

  723. all the right tools, but by just

  724. surrendering it, bringing it into the

  725. light and surrendering it at the feet of

  726. Jesus. Your sin, he will redeem into

  727. righteousness and to purity.

  728. Your story, he'll reshape into a

  729. testimony. and yourself. He's going to

  730. redefine into his perfect image, his

  731. perfect plan, who he has made you to be,

  732. not who I make me to be. Amen. So, I

  733. want to take this time I want to take

  734. this time and I want to I want to ask

  735. ask us to pray if we can close our eyes

  736. in this room and uh I just want to I

  737. want to have a second here.

  738. And if God is

  739. God is asking you in this moment,

  740. if God is asking you to give him your

  741. sin,

  742. to give him your story or part of your

  743. story,

  744. to give him yourself while we got our

  745. eyes closed in here, would you actually

  746. just scoot out of the aisle

  747. and meet me up here? I want to I want to

  748. come up just right up here to the front.

  749. If God's asking you to give him any of

  750. it, come on up. I see you. Come on. Come

  751. on, everybody else. You can keep your

  752. eyes closed. Make room. If someone's

  753. coming through the aisle, come on up.

  754. And we need to give this. This is the

  755. moment. This is the moment where you

  756. just set this at the feet of Jesus. You

  757. bring it into the light. And you begin

  758. in your own words, in your own words,

  759. just loud enough for you to barely be

  760. able to hear yourself. Your own words,

  761. begin to confess it and be able to give

  762. it into his light. It's important to

  763. speak it. It's important to speak it

  764. because then the enemy hears it as well

  765. and it begins to shut it down. Then your

  766. mind and your own ears hear it as well

  767. and your mind begins to process it

  768. differently. Come on forward. I believe

  769. there's more of you. If you need to lay

  770. your sin at the altar, if you need to

  771. reshape you, you say, "God, I need you

  772. to reshape my story. I got past. I got

  773. abuse. I got traumas. I got sins. I got

  774. mistakes. I got things that other people

  775. have done. I've got areas where I've run

  776. away from you. And I need to give you

  777. me." And maybe you're saying, "I just

  778. need I DON'T KNOW WHAT I NEED, BUT I

  779. NEED TO give him me." Come on forward.

  780. This is your time. And if I can have a

  781. couple of our prayer leaders come on up.

  782. If you're one of our spiritual leaders

  783. here at Collective, would you come on up

  784. and lay a hand on someone? And if you

  785. want them to pray with you, would you

  786. just would you turn around and talk with

  787. them for a second? But if not, just just

  788. meet with the Lord right here. Holy

  789. mighty Father, if you're still in need

  790. of this, would you come forward while

  791. I'm praying? And if not, would you pray

  792. in your own seat? Would you begin to

  793. pray for a renewal? Would you begin to

  794. pray for a restoration? Would you be

  795. able to begin to pray for a redemption?

  796. Would you begin to pray for reshaping?

  797. Would you begin to pray for a a

  798. redefining of self? Mighty God, in the

  799. name of Jesus, I pray that there's lives

  800. that are being reshaped. There's lives

  801. that are being changed. That there's new

  802. things that are coming right now in this

  803. place. that we walked in with darkness

  804. and we're walking out with light. Lord,

  805. here we are as helpless, HOPELESS

  806. PEOPLE. I HAVE NOWHERE TO PUT MY SIN. I

  807. HAVE NOWHERE TO PUT MY STORY. I have

  808. nowhere to put myself

  809. unless I INVITE YOU INTO MY HEART.

  810. UNLESS I GO TO THE CROSS, unless I offer

  811. it at your manger, unless I give it to

  812. you. And so, Lord, we give you all of

  813. it.

  814. And I pray, God,

  815. Holy Spirit, would you meet in this

  816. place right now? Right here. I believe

  817. that he's coming here. I believe there's

  818. also still some people that need to

  819. respond. This is your opportunity. Keep

  820. Come on up. Come on up. if you need to

  821. respond. There's nothing special about

  822. this place. There's something special

  823. about putting action and putting steps

  824. to the things that you need to do. Yep,

  825. I see you. Come on, keep coming up. Come

  826. up.

  827. God, there's something that you're doing

  828. in this place. Holy Spirit, would you do

  829. what we cannot? Would you anoint the

  830. prayers that are being prayed? Would you

  831. hear the cries of the hearts that are

  832. coming on up that are that are up here

  833. laying self sin and story at your feet?

  834. And would you bring A BURST OF LIGHT

  835. INTO THE DARKNESS that forces darkness

  836. to run away THAT THE DARKNESS CANNOT

  837. OVERCOME IT?

  838. We ask for your story

  839. over the stories in this room. We ask

  840. for your identity over the identities

  841. and the self and the people in this

  842. room.

  843. And we ask for your blood

  844. over the sin in this room that turns our

  845. sin that though it was once like

  846. scarlet, you will make us as white as

  847. snow,

  848. innocent,

  849. pure

  850. with no attachment, no more chains.

  851. God, I pray for freedom here in this

  852. room

  853. in Jesus name.

  854. What I want to do real quick here is if

  855. you've if you've made a decision, I want

  856. to honor what's going on here. But if

  857. you've made a decision and you go,

  858. today I'm laying down my life, I'm I'm

  859. rededicating my life to Christ for the

  860. first time in a while. Or maybe I'm

  861. giving my life to Jesus for the first

  862. time ever.

  863. Never ever ever do this alone. I want to

  864. ask you, would you just put your hand up

  865. real quick just so I can see you? Just

  866. so I can see you. If you're saying, "I'm

  867. rededicating. and I'm giving my life to

  868. Jesus again for the first time ever, for

  869. the first time in a long time. Would you

  870. put your hand up so I can see you? Come

  871. on. Come on. I love it. I love it. Thank

  872. you. Anybody else? Who else? Who else?

  873. Come on.

  874. What I want to ask us to do is I want to

  875. ask us We've got We've got a couple

  876. things over here. We've got some gifts.

  877. We've got some uh a card that you can

  878. take home. We've got a Bible reading

  879. plan. We've got a notebook. We've got a

  880. free Bible for you if you want it. We

  881. want to help you walk through this

  882. journey. Never do it alone. Never do it

  883. alone. If you if you try to do it alone,

  884. you're doing it wrong.

  885. He's got something for you. And if you

  886. walk in it,

  887. I promise you, you're going to see light

  888. begin to get injected into your

  889. darkness.

  890. So before you leave, if you want to head

  891. over to this banner and we'll help we'll

  892. help get you your if if you didn't raise

  893. your hand or if I missed it, would you

  896. walk you through this journey. And I

  897. want to pray a quick prayer to close us

  898. out. Heavenly Father, in the mighty name

  899. of Jesus, we give it all to you. We

  900. trust you. We surrender it to you. We

  901. ask, would you do what only you can do?

  902. The one who has access to the deepest

  903. parts of our heart. The one who has

  904. access to the darkest parts of our

  905. story. The one who has access to the

  906. sickest parts of our sinfulness. You,

  907. God, we give it to you. We give it to

  908. you and you are not intimidated. You are

  909. not afraid of any of it.

  910. >> Hey, thanks so much for watching today's

  915. >> Yeah. And no matter what it was that God

  916. spoke to you, I know that part of your
