  4. >> Good morning collective. Come on. Who's

  5. loving the worship today?

  6. As always, I want to make sure that this

  7. is a place where we we where we don't

  8. transition out of a posture of worship.

  9. And so, I just want to take some a

  10. second. One thing I'll do if I find uh

  11. whatever it is, whether it feels like

  12. anxiety, whether it just feels like I'm

  13. getting distracted, whatever. Whenever I

  14. feel like I'm in too much of Drew is

  15. involved and I need a little more Holy

  16. Spirit. Amen. Anybody relate to me?

  17. Right. Come on. I will just I'll just

  18. take a second and it doesn't have to be

  19. super long. This is one of the things I

  20. encourage you guys to do. Uh especially

  21. if you work super early mornings, you're

  22. like, I can't spend the amount of time

  23. with the Lord early that I want to and

  24. I'm not very focused in it. This is

  25. still something I like to do. I'll just

  26. take a second, take an intentional

  27. prayer and I'll just like inhale,

  28. exhale. I'll just breathe. I'll spend

  29. some time with the Lord. So, can we do

  30. that for a second? Can you do that just

  31. for a second? I just You can if you want

  32. to close your eyes. I like to close my

  33. eyes because I'm super easily easily

  34. distracted. Uh, so you can close your

  35. eyes, but what I want to do is I just

  36. want to prepare our hearts here for this

  37. moment. And so right now, take a moment,

  38. [snorts] breathe in God's grace over

  39. your life. The fact that he is right

  40. here, he is with you and he has already

  41. forgiven you.

  42. Now, take a second, breathe in the

  43. lessons God wants to teach you today.

  44. I'm ready to receive. I'm ready to be

  45. filled. I'm ready to for for you to

  46. download what you need for me and then

  47. breathe in God's blessings for you

  48. so that we will receive all the good

  49. things that he has.

  50. Breathe in his his victory over your

  51. situation. Am I forgetting something in

  52. this breathing exercise?

  53. Is anybody having a hard time exhaling

  54. right now? Okay, that's for real. Okay,

  55. you can exhale. If you can exhale,

  56. breathe out.

  57. All right, that wasn't intentional. I do

  58. encourage you guys to spend some time in

  59. prayer.

  60. Inhaling and exhaling. But a lot of

  61. times it makes no sense to just go. I'm

  62. just going to breathe in. [snorts] Then

  63. I'm going to breathe in.

  64. And I'm trying. And I'm trying. You're

  65. like, I'm trying, Pastor Drew. You're

  66. making it really hard on me to follow

  67. what you're telling me to do there. But

  68. here's the reality. So many of us

  69. actually live our lives in that way. Our

  70. spiritual lives saying, "Lord, I receive

  71. your grace.

  72. Lord, I receive your presence. I receive

  73. the lessons you want to teach me. I want

  74. your blessings. Lord, give me your

  75. blessings, Lord. I want to stand in your

  76. victory. Give me your victory." Amen.

  77. And we conclude our lives in this place,

  78. in this posture. Yet the reality is is

  79. that if I want to be healthy, if I want

  80. I I have to have a income

  81. [sighs and snorts] and an expense, I

  82. have to receive

  83. and I have to give.

  84. >> That's what we're actually talking about

  85. today. We're talking about living in the

  86. overflow.

  87. living in a place in a position where my

  88. life is overflowing. And this is part of

  89. our summer leanin series. We've talked

  90. about the whole idea is how to avoid the

  91. summertime spiritual slump. How are you

  92. going to not let Oh yeah, what happened?

  93. I was going to church consistently. I

  94. was in my word consistently. I started

  95. to build these habits and then they

  96. started to disappear. What happened

  97. there? No, we're actually going to lean

  98. in. We're going to let summer make us

  99. stronger. And so we've made a commitment

  100. this summer to spend time in the word,

  101. to spend time at church, to be a part of

  102. this. And we've gone through a lot of

  103. different lessons of things that we need

  104. in order for your spiritual life to be

  105. set on fire. Like a a a spiritual life,

  106. you say, "Man, it's just it my spiritual

  107. life is on fire. It is hot. It is hotter

  108. than it is outside right now." Amen.

  109. Right. Like I come on. Come on. Come on.

  110. Give yourselves a hand for coming here

  111. on a sweaty, hot day. Let's go.

  112. I believe there's an extra blessing

  113. inside the house. I just believe you

  114. still get a blessing online. Don't

  115. worry. But uh but I do believe that God

  116. blesses the sacrifice given to make it

  117. here. Thank you guys. Here's some of the

  118. topics that we've hit on. We've got a

  119. whole bunch of things that we've hit on

  120. over the summer. Talking about our

  121. righteous rhythms, talking about make

  122. sure that we get in the right rhythm so

  123. that my habits in my life are set on

  124. fire. We got a slide for this if we can

  125. pull it up. Talked about getting back to

  126. our first love. talked about humility,

  127. the key to God's heart, about how we

  128. have to be a part if you want to have

  129. your spiritual life on fire, I got to

  130. surround myself with the right people.

  131. How what does community look like? What

  132. do I do? How do I how do I treat my lost

  133. friends and family members? How do I

  134. treat my my spiritual my friends that

  135. are close to me? Uh forgiveness,

  136. the freedom I need. how often we are

  137. blocked. The breakthrough that you have

  138. is blocked by unforgiveness with a

  139. powerful message from Laura. Uh getting

  140. my giving right. I got to get my

  141. finances right in order if I'm going to

  142. have my spiritual life set on fire. This

  143. is a block that so many people have and

  144. experience. And then Taylor shared last

  145. week about walking with the Holy Spirit.

  146. Come on. Who loved that message? Let's

  147. go, Taylor. So good.

  148. Today we're talking about living in

  149. overflow because once you're walking

  150. with the Lord, there should be one thing

  151. that naturally starts to come out of

  152. you, but it so often is limited. We

  153. limit it and we ignore it or we make

  154. excuses for it. And it's the whole idea

  155. of fruit. In fact, if you look at

  156. scripture and you look at within the

  157. word of God, when Jesus says you are, or

  158. in the New Testament, when the Apostle

  159. Paul or Peter or John or James says we

  160. are, these core identity statements of

  161. the church, of the body of Christ, I did

  162. a study on this and there's a lot of

  163. different key uh identity statements

  164. that are made about this about you are

  165. salt, you are light. You are Matthew

    Matthew 10:31

  166. 10:31. You are of great value. Acts 18,

  167. you are my witnesses.

  168. You are not of this world. These are

  169. identity statements that I got to

  170. remember about who I am. I am not of

  171. this world. You are God's house.

  172. You are his field.

  173. You are sent [snorts]

  174. to be a blessing to the world. Acts

    Acts 3:25

  175. 3:25. You are the body of Christ. We are

  176. the body of Christ. Amen. We have We are

  177. God's children. We are God's people. We

  178. are God's workers. We're described as

  179. all these. We are his workmanship

  180. created for good works. We are children

  181. of light. You are a myth. This whole

  182. like again and again and again and again

  183. it has all these identity statements

  184. about who we are. That every single that

  185. we all fall under the umbrella of this

  186. identity. I promise you, if you're

  187. trying to figure out who you are in

  188. Christ, it's always going to fall

  189. underneath the identity of who God is

  190. and who he's created the church to be

  191. and how we are created to function

  192. within that. And so I look at these key

  193. identity statements spoken over us. And

  194. there is almost every single one of

  195. these has a common denominator of either

  196. directly pointing to being a people that

  197. live life on mission or implies that in

  198. the context like being the body of

  199. Christ, right? The whole purpose of

  200. being the body of Christ is being his

  201. action being his be being of service

  202. going and doing and moving because now

  203. Christ his body has gone up to heaven

  204. right he ascended and so now we are the

  205. body and so the whole like we are Christ

  206. on this earth and so Matthew 5:13-16

    Matthew 5:13–16

  207. this is where I want to focus it's one

  208. of the first and biggest Jesus's biggest

  209. you are identity statements and he gives

  210. this in the sermon on the mount. One of

  211. the most powerful sermons that he

  212. preaches at the beginning of his

  213. ministry to be able to kind of define

  214. who we are, how we operate, where and

  215. and and how the kingdom of God is

  216. shifting with the presence of the

  217. Messiah. So, we've got Matthew 5:13-16

    Matthew 5:13–16

  218. here. Jesus says, "You are the salt

  219. of the earth." Not your salty. Come on.

  220. If you're feeling a little salty here,

  221. okay, I'm just going to like maybe a

  222. couple more deep breaths would be good.

  223. You are the salt of the earth. But if

  224. salt has lost its taste, how shall it

  225. saltiness be restored? It's no longer

  226. good for anything except to be thrown

  227. out and trampled under people's feet.

  228. You are the light of the world. A city

  229. set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do

  230. people light a lamp and put it under a

  231. basket, but on a stand, and it gives

  232. light to all in the house. In the same

  233. way, let your light shine before others

  234. so that they may see your good works and

  235. give glory to your father who is in

  236. heaven. Now, we're described as a couple

  237. different things. You are salt and you

  238. are light. And what this was is this is

  239. a I I love the way that the word is I

  240. love the way that Jesus teaches because

  241. he gives a revelation and then it

  242. requires you to do a little bit of

  243. digging on your own. Because what he

  244. doesn't want to do is just say here you

  245. go. Here's the here's the idea. Go live

  246. on mission. Go be go go go go be a

  247. people of overflow. Congratulations.

  248. That's it. He says you are salt. What is

  249. salt? What does salt do? And it makes me

  250. think. And then the revelation now is

  251. mine instead of just something that was

  252. given to me. That's why when you read

  253. the word of God and you go,

  254. I don't know. I have no clue what I just

  255. read. I think there's something good

  256. there. I feel like there is. You read it

  257. again. You read it again. You discuss it

  258. with a friend. You journal. You write

  259. about it. This is what I feel like I

  260. just read. This is how it could

  261. potentially apply to me. This is this is

  262. what I think it means. And this is what

  263. it means in my context for my life.

  264. Right? So this is this is how we look at

  265. this. What is salt? Salt is a couple

  266. different things. Especially in this

  267. time, we had salt do two things. We saw

  268. that salt was primarily actually a

  269. preservative. It was used to make sure

  270. that things would last and keep on

  271. lasting. It would preserve food. In the

  272. same way, Christians should be the

  273. people that extend the life,

  274. the true life, the abundant life. When I

  275. feel like I'm alive, should be the type

  276. of people that preserve and extend that

  277. idea within the world around us.

  278. Everybody's living, not everybody's

  279. alive, right? We have this idea of like,

  280. I want to be that blessing. I wanna I

  281. want to preserve that when you're around

  282. me. It's a good thing that you are

  283. blessed just because you're around a

  284. fellow believer. That's what I want the

  285. people at my workplace. I want the

  286. people in your neighborhoods. I want the

  287. people in your coffee shops to go like,

  288. I don't know. I just I like it when they

  289. walk into the coffee shop. Things just

  290. things just get better. The mood gets

  291. better. The energy rises. There's

  292. suddenly joy in the place. Like, I don't

  293. know. It's just different, right?

  294. There's this preservation of life. And

  295. then there's this other aspect of salt

  296. that when we think about it, it gives it

  297. gives flavor. It brings out the flavor

  298. and it brings out the life that is in in

  299. the same way Christians should be givers

  300. of the true life of Christ. You are the

  301. salt of the world of the earth. We are

  302. created to be preservers where life is

  303. just better around a believer

  304. and to be givers to be people who

  305. actually add. Come on. I want I want

  306. people to come to collective. Do you

  307. feel like you come to collective and you

  308. go I feel like life has a little more

  309. flavor here, right? Come on. I want

  310. that. I want that to be who we are. I

  311. want that to be what you experience

  312. where you're like, I don't know. We just

  313. come alive. When I listen to the worship

  314. songs at home, it's good. But when I

  315. come in and we worship together,

  316. right? It's just it's there. We are

  317. here. I can I'm in it. I'm present. I

  318. can go all in. I I'm shouting it. Like

  319. there's just a little bit more here. In

  320. the same way, you are the light. You are

  321. the light of the world. Light does a

  322. couple different things. First of all,

  323. it it draws it draws attention. If you

  324. notice the way that the lights are in

  325. here right now, right? We got a whole

  326. bunch of lights on the stage. We got

  327. some lights out here. The whole idea is

  328. the attention supposed to be over here.

  329. What's what what's happening? The lights

  330. will be a little bit dimmer, a little

  331. bit a little different during worship.

  332. Right now, we want you to be able to

  333. read in your Bibles and take notes and

  334. see. So, we got lights on over there.

  335. But like, where do we want the

  336. attention? Where's the focus supposed to

  337. be? If we had the stage dark and the

  338. lights on the back, we'd all be going

  339. like, what's supposed to be going on

  340. back there? Why is what? Like, we're

  341. going to be all turning around the whole

  342. time. Because light lit, it draws your

  343. attention. It pulls you in. And the idea

  344. is that we are supposed to be the same

  345. way. Light is noticed. It draws in. It

  346. attracts. But then also light reveals.

  347. It gives. It reveals truth. Right?

  348. Right? When I turn the lights on, I see

  349. what's actually going on around me. It

  350. reveals, it shines. It gives like in the

  351. same way, we are to give hope and to

  352. give life and to give peace. And we are

  353. supposed to be givers and illuminate.

  354. Here's the thing that we often get mixed

  355. up because there's not a single light in

  356. here that's anything remotely like the

  357. light that they are talking about in

  358. Matthew 5. When Jesus says, "You are the

  359. light of the world." When D uh King

  360. David says, "You are a lamp to my feet."

  361. He's not talking about an LED light that

  362. a flashlight that I'm shining, he's not

  363. they're not talking about electricity.

  364. They're talking about a flame. They're

  365. talking about a fire. In the same way,

  366. it's easy to miss this that light is

  367. intentionally

  368. naturally contagious.

  369. Right? I I it's easy to pass it on. I've

  370. got a flame. I've got a light. And when

  371. I touch my flashlight to your

  372. flashlight, it doesn't do anything. But

  373. suddenly, when I touch a candle to

  374. another candle, both are now lit. In the

  375. same way, that's how we're supposed to

  376. be to live. That's how you were created.

  377. In fact,

  378. if I'm not living in an external way, I

  379. would argue that we are not even living

  380. according to the definition that Jesus

  381. gave us of what it means to be a

  382. follower of him.

  383. I say I'm a follower of Jesus. Well,

  384. that means he says follow me and I will

  385. make you I'm being transformed. I will I

  386. it's a becoming process and I will make

  387. you fishers of men. I have an external

  388. outgoing

  389. something that I express that's a

  390. blessing to other people.

  391. That's the definition of being a

  392. follower of Jesus. And I got to take

  393. that seriously. And so what what this

  394. salt and this light reveals is that

  395. there's two primary expressions of a

  396. missional life. There's both the

  397. attraction,

  398. the fact that we are supposed to be a

  399. people that like salt preserves and like

  400. light draws attention. We're supposed to

  401. be, do you know being a Christian is

  402. supposed to be an attractive thing? All

  403. over in in old like new early church

  404. writings, they're concerned about how

  405. are other people. Watch out. Don't Don't

  406. let other people view you in a way where

  407. they think that you're sinning, where

  408. they think that you're living a life

  409. that's remotely like theirs. You should

  410. be living a life part of the the idea of

  411. me living righteously is not just for me

  412. being close to him, but for me being a

  413. good example of who he is to the world

  414. around me, right? The reality is I'm

  415. supposed to be I'm supposed to live in a

  416. way. Now, I like I like I like this.

  417. I've heard it said before, live a

  418. questionable life.

  419. type of thing where you so stand out

  420. that people are like,

  421. "Why?

  422. What's going on? You just got the same

  423. email from our boss that everybody else

  424. just got and yet you seem to like not be

  425. shaken by it. What's going on? How come

  426. when when you're so frustrated about our

  427. team losing or whatever it is, it's

  428. like, oh,

  429. anyone want some chips and guac?" Right?

  430. like you just you you're like YOU YOU'RE

  431. YOU'RE DISHEARTENED BUT THEN YOU GET

  432. OVER IT BUT YOU LOVE THE TEAM AND YOU'RE

  433. CHEERING THEM. WHAT'S GOING ON? HOW COME

  434. YOU'RE DIFFERENT? WHY ARE YOU LIVING?

  435. WHY DO YOU GO TO CHURCH ON A SUNDAY when

  436. it's 100° out? Like wouldn't you rather

  437. stay at home? Wouldn't you rather Yeah.

  438. Well, I live a life that's intentionally

  439. my habits, my the way that I live, my

  440. righteousness, the things that I carry,

  441. the words that I say, the words I don't

  442. say, the way I speak, the way I don't

  443. speak about my my my the conversations I

  444. don't don't join in on in terms of my

  445. co-workers and gossip and things like

  446. that. I choose not to. Makes people go,

  447. why,

  448. right? We should live an attractive

  449. life. We should live a life and I'm not

  450. talking about like make sure you're

  451. dressing to the nines all day every day,

  452. right? The whole idea of like people

  453. going, "Man, they carry something that's

  454. different

  455. that I don't see my other friends in the

  456. world carry." What is What is that?

  457. We're supposed to have an attractional

  458. Isaiah 60 and61 talks about this about

  459. how how we are a light to the world and

  460. then we draw people into that and we

  461. reach out to the lost as well. And that

  462. is the second piece. It's the extending

  463. two expressions to attract

  464. and then to extend. I've got to be

  465. intentional. I can't just go hey my

  466. whole mission in my life is just to look

  467. like as good a Christian as I can. The

  468. whole purpose is actually I have an

  469. extension. I have things that I'm doing

  470. that I am pouring out that I am giving.

  471. There's a lot of different ways to be

  472. able to do this. We see like that's why

  473. we actually one of the big reasons and

  474. how we structure our church is with

  475. serving. So that when you come, it's the

  476. safest place to learn how to go. How do

  477. I use the gifts that I've been given to

  478. be a blessing to everyone else? I don't

  479. really know how to do that. And I

  480. certainly don't know how to do that in

  481. front of my lost friends, my family

  482. members that they've they've seen me get

  483. blackout drunk and like they're not

  484. really sure. They don't think that this

  485. is like this whole Christian thing is

  486. going to last for me. Like they've seen

  487. all that. And so they don't they I I'm

  488. I'm I'm not thinking about that. I'm

  489. just trying to figure out how do I how

  490. do I do this? This is a safe place to

  491. figure that out, to find the gifts and

  492. the calling of God that he has on you.

  493. That's why I I encourage you guys join a

  494. team. If you haven't come to discover,

  495. it's one of the best ways to be able to

  496. get get jumped in and figure out how do

  497. I get involved? What does that look

  498. like? Uh who is Collective Church?

  499. What's the heart that we operate with?

  500. What's our story? All that happens.

  501. That's the first Sunday of every month,

  502. 1 hour right after service. I want to

  503. invite you into that. But we have we

  504. have to extend by serving. We can extend

  505. by reaching the lost.

  506. I beg you guys, I promise you this is

  507. not there. There's the the other way of

  508. of extending and expanding the kingdom

  509. is is disciplehip.

  510. If you've been a believer for two or

  511. three years, that's how long Jesus's

  512. disciples followed him. And then he

  513. said, "You better be going and making

  514. your own disciples. Go."

  515. If you have been a believer for a few

  516. years

  517. and you don't have someone that you are

  518. saying, "Hey, I've taken a couple steps

  519. closer towards Christ. Let me grab your

  520. hand and walk with me as I follow him

  521. really imperfectly, really poorly, but

  522. I've I've found out a couple things. I

  523. figured out some habits that worked. I

  524. figured out some things that I should

  525. avoid. I've stepped on some landmines I

  526. can help you avoid.

  527. And let me walk with you. Let my ble the

  528. blessing that I have received become a

  529. blessing to you. I want to encourage you

  530. in that. But if you want to go, how do I

  531. have impact right now? I'm brand new in

  532. this whole faith journey. I prom you are

  533. the best evangelist we've got in the

  534. house. If you just recently go, "Holy

  535. smokes, this Jesus thing is amazing. He

  536. has just recently transformed me in a

  537. powerful way." You have the best

  538. testimony. It's fresh. It's like you're

  539. stumbling over and you're like, I don't

  540. I don't know. It's just amazing. Like I

  541. was I was so anxious and then when I get

  542. into the I go to church and I get this

  543. presence and then it was freed from me.

  544. You know, we just had at our last uh

  545. encounter night, we just had someone

  546. give a testimony about like, I always

  547. operate with this anxiety and now I've

  548. been given all these stressful

  549. opportunities and moments and now I'm

  550. just like, huh? I'm supposed to be

  551. anxious right now and I'm not. What's

  552. going on? Something just changed.

  553. There's a testimony in that. You're the

  554. best evangelist that there is. If you

  555. just discover this, start to give that

  556. testimony out again and again and again.

  557. And who is the person in your life that

  558. doesn't know Christ

  559. that you you so desperately want to know

  560. him?

  561. If you don't have someone like that,

  562. find someone like that. You go, man, I I

  563. need to I I need to see them. I need to

  564. see them worshiping the Lord with me,

  565. sitting beside me in church. I need to

  566. see them carrying the hope that I have

  567. discovered in Christ. I need to see them

  568. getting freed from the same things that

  569. I got freed from. I need to see them

  570. living with purpose in ways that I've

  571. been given purpose. I need to see them

  572. find the safety that I found in the arms

  573. of Christ. I need it. I need it. I need

  574. it. And that is that's this place where

  575. we go, I I've got a one. In fact, that's

  576. what our love into the lightboard is out

  577. there. When I have that person, I'll

  578. take two keychains. I'll write their

  579. name down on both of those keychains.

  580. I'll put one on the board on the black

  581. side on the dark side of dark. Like they

  582. they're not living in the light. And I

  583. pray they get to live into the light.

  584. And I'm going to and then I keep the

  585. other keychain and I go I'm going to

  586. remember this. I'm going to pray for

  587. this person. Every single time I see

  588. this keychain, I'm just going to say a

  589. quick prayer. Lord, would you please

  590. help me to be an example to be a light

  591. to this person? Would you use me? And

  592. then would you use other people? Would

  593. you draw them near to you? And I pray

  594. and when we see that person that I've

  595. been praying for, come meet Christ,

  596. experience him, come to church. I'll

  597. move that over from the dark side to the

  598. light side. And I've walked them. I've

  599. loved them intentionally into the light.

  600. That's that we are called. We have a

  601. missional expression that's both

  602. attractional and expanding and extending

  603. and giving out. So I want I want to

  604. encourage you guys in Genesis 12:2. Uh

    Genesis 12:2

  605. this is this is what Chad just hit on

  606. and this is actually one of these

  607. identity statements early early on in

  608. the gosp in in the whole story of the

  609. gospel before Jesus. This is like 2500

  610. years before him. God speaks to Abraham

  611. and he gives him the definition of who

  612. I'm creating as my nation. And he

  613. creates Israel as this nation out of

  614. here. And he says, "I will make of you,

  615. Abraham." At this time, his name was

  616. just Abram. I'll make of you a great

  617. nation. I will bless you. I will pour

  618. out my blessing on you. It's the

  619. receiving. It's the I want that. I want

  620. to receive this. I will bless you and I

  621. will make your name great so that you

  622. will be a blessing. I'm going to give to

  623. you so that you give away. That's the

  624. whole purpose of this whole thing. We

  625. are created to be blessed. If he's Come

  626. on. Who's been blessed by the Lord? Come

  627. on. Amen. Amen. [applause]

  628. If I'm not using every single blessing

  629. that he's given to me to be a blessing

  630. to someone else, I'm missing it. And

  631. this is what it's like. See, this is

  632. this is this is what we do. This is how

  633. most people most Christians live their

  634. lives. And I don't want to have us do

  635. this here collective. Okay? We live our

  636. life, we go, I feel empty of something

  637. inside of me, of life or of purpose or

  638. of mission or of just I don't know what

  639. it is. There's something inside of me

  640. that I'm missing. And then I come to

  641. church, right? And holy smokes, the Holy

  642. Spirit start filling,

  643. starts pouring out. And I feel so full.

  644. And I leave and I go, "This is amazing.

  645. I've never felt so full in my life. I've

  646. never felt so full of purpose. This is

  647. incredible. I walk out and I'm like,

  648. "THIS IS GREAT." BUT then I get the text

  649. as I'm walking out and I get distracted

  650. and I can figure out where am I going to

  651. go for lunch. Oh, I got to cook lunch.

  652. Wait, that house is a mess. Oh my

  653. goodness. I forgot about that work

  654. meeting that I have. I forgot about all

  655. this stuff. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,

  656. Thursday start coming in and I get

  657. distracted. And the problem is is that I

  658. leak.

  659. I love the Lord. I get filled with him,

  660. but I leak. And again and again and

  661. again, I'm trying to just live this

  662. life. And then what do I have? Oh, I

  663. can't wait for Sunday because I just

  664. feel so empty. And then guess what?

  665. Sunday comes. Sunday comes. Oh, just at

  666. the right time. Oh, Lord. Hallelujah.

  667. Hallelujah. I AM FULL AGAIN. I FEEL IT.

  668. I am re I have received your spirit. I

  669. feel so much better. And I walk out

  670. those magical doors and I forget what

  671. the sermon was even about. I forget what

  672. I what God spoke to me in the worship

  673. time. And I and now I'm in this place

  674. where I'm just I'm slowly draining. I'm

  675. slowly losing who I'm supposed to be.

  676. And I'm I'm I'm going, where was that

  677. life? I know I had it. I'm trying to

  678. access it. I'm trying to say a little

  679. prayer. Or maybe I'll I'll even go to

  680. church and I'm like, ah, I'm just kind

  681. of showing up today and I don't I'm not

  682. fully available

  683. and I don't I don't give my whole self

  684. and I don't I don't get fully exposed. I

  685. don't allow the Holy Spirit to fully

  686. mention or maybe I open up the word and

  687. I'm like, I should probably read a verse

  688. or two. There you go. And I'm just, you

  689. know, okay, I did it. I did it. I I read

  690. my verse. Why isn't it working? Let me

  691. say quick prayer. Come on, Jesus. Help

  692. me, please. All right. Now, I'm going to

  693. spend the majority of my day. Thank you.

  694. Please, please help me. I'm going to go

  695. do my thing. And we go, why isn't this

  696. working? I feel so empty. I feel so

  697. hollow. I feel so lost.

  698. One of the greatest breakthroughs I

  699. think we need in this house. More than

  700. more. Most people in here, I don't think

  701. the next step that you have is you need

  702. to spend even more time with Christ. You

  703. need to spend even more time in the

  704. word.

  705. I believe that the next step you have is

  706. actually

  707. posturing yourself in a way so that when

  708. I have received from him, I posture

  709. myself in a way where I can then give

  710. and then what happens is now I am able

  711. to pour out to give. I can receive more.

  712. I give more. I'm alive. I'm still

  713. draining.

  714. >> I still have flesh. I still got things

  715. I'm dealing with. But suddenly, I am

  716. experiencing this ability like I need

  717. Jesus all the time. I got a friend that

  718. is lost. I got something that I I got

  719. someone that needs him. And so I need to

  720. be receiving him so that I can give him

  721. out. Otherwise, guess what they get? Get

  722. a lot of Drew.

  723. That's not that special, right? Can be a

  724. little overwhelming at times.

  725. The reality is is that I want when

  726. people experience me, I want them to

  727. have a even greater experience with the

  728. Holy Spirit.

  729. >> Which means I've got to position myself

  730. in a different way. I've got to put

  731. myself in a place where, hey, I want to

  732. I want to pour out to you. Build your

  733. own mission field. figure out what your

  734. mission field is going to be where you

  735. go, this is no longer my workplace. This

  736. is now my mission field. And I'm going

  737. to do excellent at my job as part of the

  738. attractional piece of my mission, but

  739. I'm also going to have an extension. I'm

  740. also going to have something that I give

  741. away. I'm going to start bringing lunch

  742. for just a whole bunch of people uh so

  743. that whoever wants lunch on Mondays,

  744. right? We got a case of the Mondays. How

  745. can I help minister on Mondays in my

  746. workplace? Oh, they hate it. Everybody's

  747. complaining, in a bad mood on Mondays.

  748. Let me bring lunch. Let me bring some

  749. dessert. Let me bring a suite. Let me do

  750. something like that, right? What What do

  751. you carry? What do you have that can be

  752. a blessing to other people? I'm not good

  753. at cooking. I'm not. I certainly am not.

  754. Maybe that's you. And so maybe that

  755. ain't going to be it. But you know what?

  756. You can like I'm going to write a note.

  757. I'm going to encourage someone if I see

  758. that I'm I'm walking to my desk. I'm

  759. walking to my office and I'm just

  760. looking around. Who's around me? How are

  761. they How are they carrying themselves?

  762. Are they just I I I notice that this

  763. person shows up, they just glue

  764. themselves to their screen, they

  765. disappear, right? I notice that this

  766. person never talks on the company Zooms.

  767. I just But I have access to message

  768. them. Hey,

  769. Ive I've I've never really gotten to

  770. know you. I'd love to just get to know

  771. you. How can I just start to extend and

  772. just be a blessing for the sake of being

  773. a blessing? Right? Like yes, I want you

  774. to experience the life and the light

  775. that I have found in Christ. And I do

  776. maybe want to eventually invite you into

  777. church. But guys, I just want to start

  778. just be a blessing. Just give. Let

  779. people be blessed because they are

  780. around you. And it doesn't have to be,

  781. wait, will you will you first receive

  782. the gospel? Will you first come to

  783. church with me? And now, oh, you said

  784. no. Okay, well, I'm kind of going to

  785. back off the blessing. I'm going to back

  786. off the niceness. The reality is is

  787. position yourself. Get yourself in a

  788. posture where I have to keep on

  789. receiving because I'm already pouring

  790. out. Otherwise, I'm going to find myself

  791. pouring out nothing and I got just a

  792. couple drops to give. What do I need? I

  793. need more of him. And I don't got to

  794. wait till Sunday.

  795. He's available all the time. I want to

  796. live my life in a position of overflow.

  797. I promise you, you will be able to

  798. receive more because you give more. I

  799. receive more of the Holy Spirit. I

  800. receive more of the word. The word will

  801. come alive to you. I promise you. You

  802. start putting yourself where you're

  803. going, I am I I I am I'm got a someone

  804. that I'm pouring into. I've got someone

  805. whether it's not disciplehip, maybe I'm

  806. new in my journey and I've just got

  807. someone that is lost that I really hope

  808. that they come and find the life that I

  809. have found in Christ and I'm going to

  810. position myself where I'm being

  811. intentional. Maybe you'll tell them

  812. straight and you're like forthright.

  813. You'll just be like, "Listen, I want you

  814. to know

  815. I want you to discover the same hope and

  816. the same faith that I have found. I'm

  817. not going to make you. I'm not going to

  818. force you. But I want you to know that's

  819. on my heart because I love you that

  820. much. I care about you in that way and

  821. it's been a blessing to me beyond what I

  822. can describe. [music] I believe that

  823. Jesus will be a blessing to you beyond

  824. what you can describe and you position

  825. yourself for that. Do you want to know

  826. how much living a life on mission makes

  827. [music] you come alive? Do you the the

  828. the best way if you want to if you want

  829. to learn something, if you want to

  830. retain something, do you know the best

  831. way to learn something?

  832. You teach it.

  833. Every single Sunday I preach, [music] I

  834. promise you, whoever was on stage and

  835. preached the message got more out of the

  836. sermon than you did. I promise you, the

  837. best way to learn something, [music]

  838. teach it.

  839. Explain it. Talk to your kids. Talk to

  840. someone else. This is what [music] I

  841. learned at church today. That'll help

  842. you to retain, that'll help you to

  843. capture. And then you'll start saying

  844. something and every once in a while, the

  845. Holy Spirit will take over and you'll be

  846. like, "That was really good. I really

  847. needed that. They really needed that.

  848. Holy smokes, that was amazing.

  849. The best way to get more energy, man,

  850. I'm always tired. I keep getting my

  851. sleep and I just still always feel

  852. tired. You want the best way know the

  853. best way to get energy? Expend it. Work

  854. out, exercise,

  855. right? Do you want to know the best way

  856. to get more money? Invest it. Want to

  857. know the best way to get stronger? work

  858. your muscles until they get little micro

  859. tears in them and they're super sore and

  860. you'll get stronger. The reality is is

  861. the best way to give more is by to to

  862. receive more is actually by giving more.

  863. This works out financially. This works

  864. out in in the way that God has designed

  865. the body. This works out in the way that

  866. that agriculture works. I want to have a

  867. bigger harvest. Well, I've got to plant

  868. more [music] seed.

  869. >> I want to see this work. If I want to

  870. see God move through me, then I've got

  871. to make sure I've positioned myself for

  872. even more impact than before. I'm

  873. terrible at this, but you get the idea.

  874. >> The whole idea is I want to position

  875. myself [music] to see God move in and

  876. through me. And I'm going to place

  877. myself

  878. like Jesus told his disciples [music]

  879. to. And he said, "You are going to be

  880. the church. You will go [music] and make

  881. disciples." Who are the people that are

  882. walking with Christ [music] today

  883. because

  884. partially because of the way that you've

  885. lived

  886. or the way that [music] you've reached

  887. out to them? Who are the people that

  888. their life is on fire or stronger

  889. because of the way that you have [music]

  890. ministered to them?

  891. If you don't have anyone,

  892. let's change that.

  893. I promise you, living a life of overflow

  894. will cause for you to find your

  895. spiritual life on fire like never

  896. before.

  897. It's probably [music]

  898. at least part of your next step of what

  899. God is calling [music] you into. Whether

  900. that's joining a team, whether that is

  901. finding someone that you can start

  902. pouring into and [music] discipling,

  903. or whether that is I'm going to I'm I'm

  904. going to find a couple lost people, a

  905. group of friends, [music]

  906. a mission field that I go, this is my

  907. target. That coffee shop is no longer

  908. [music] just a coffee shop to me. It's

  909. my mission field.

  910. I'm going to learn every barista's

  911. [music]

  912. name. I'm going to learn the name and

  913. the drink of the regulars. I'm going to

  914. I'm I'm going to buy drinks for people.

  915. I'm going to get extra [music] snacks

  916. and just hand them out and be a

  917. blessing. I just want people when they

  918. see me come in there, they go, "OH MY

  919. GOODNESS, it's you. Yes,

  920. I'm going to be a blessing.

  921. I'm going to come at times that

  922. intentionally maybe a little more dead

  923. and I can just have [music]

  924. conversation, right? Like what am I

  925. going to do?" Start build your mission

  926. field. And I want to encourage us to do

  927. that. But the the the idea is that

  928. [music] I don't want we have to

  929. the vast majority of the time when I

  930. have [music] conversations about growing

  931. spiritually with someone. What's your

  932. next step? How are you doing? How's your

  933. walk with the Lord? 90% of [music] the

  934. time, here's the next step. Uh I haven't

  935. really been in the word that much. I

  936. haven't [music] really been praying and

  937. I need to get into that. Yes. Good. Yes,

  938. that is that is your next step. Can we

  939. please

  940. Can we please [music] move past that?

  941. Not get past it, like ignore it, but

  942. continue to move on from that being our

  943. problem.

  944. I We need to be in a place where it's

  945. like, well, duh. I'm spending every

  946. [music] day with Christ. Like, I need

  947. to, right? I I I may I may have missed a

  948. day last week or last month. leg, but I

  949. just I jump on and I feel so empty and I

  950. feel so hollow and I feel so like what's

  951. going on with me. Oh my goodness. That's

  952. what it is, right? Like I we need to get

  953. into a place where my time with the Lord

  954. is good and now I'm living out and now

  955. I'm having new problems. [music]

  956. I got a new problem. I got this person

  957. and they're asking me these questions

  958. and I don't know how to answer them.

  959. Good.

  960. I got this person. They're struggling

  961. with this AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO

  962. DO FOR THEM. MY HEART BREAKS FOR THEM.

  963. OH LORD, I JUST NEED FOR THEM TO GET THE

  964. BREAKTHROUGH. WHERE WHERE IS IT? I'M

  965. GOING TO GATHER MY FRIENDS TOGETHER and

  966. we're going to be praying because I just

  967. want to see them see this breakthrough

  968. in [music] their life. THAT'S A GOOD

  969. PROBLEM. That's the type of problem we

  970. are created for. How can we get together

  971. and be a blessing to that person?

  972. Live a life of overflow. [music] Because

  973. the reality is is we've got a bunch

  974. the American church has got a [music]

  975. bunch of really spiritually fat

  976. Christians

  977. all ready to receive, all ready to

  978. consume, all ready [music] to give me

  979. give me. I want to find the right church

  980. that get that has the comfy seats that

  981. has the [music] that has the music in

  982. the way that I want it. I want to I want

  983. to make sure to have all this stuff and

  984. and finding the right I'm not I'm not

  985. joking. finding the right church is so

  986. important, but a lot of times we end up

  987. instead of making it about him and

  988. what's going to challenge and grow me,

  989. we make it about which church is going

  990. to make me most [music] comfortable.

  991. And that's actually a way that you're

  992. going to get stagnant. You're going to

  993. get stuck. And the reality is is if I

  994. come here and I go, that was good, but

  995. that was probably for someone else.

  996. If I go, I'm looking for a place that ah

  997. I felt really convicted with that

  998. conversation that that leader had with

  999. me. I don't I don't like that.

  1000. I don't like them.

1001. You know what? I don't like this church.

  1002. That's so common because I don't I don't

1003. want to grow. I [music] just want to be

1004. fed again and again and again and again.

1005. [music] And I don't expend any of that

1006. energy. Spiritually, we've got to get

1007. spiritually fit. We've got to get some

  1008. action, [music]

1009. some extending out of us. So, I want to

1010. tell you, I promise you, living in

1011. overflow, it's going to do a few things.

1012. We're going to jump through this super

1013. quick. Living in through overflow will

1014. help you to experience [music] purpose.

1015. I promise you, you will find that God

1016. has created you for the work that he has

1017. called you to. And [music] he has

1018. created you to be bad at it in certain

1019. ways and to be amazing at others so that

1020. you have a gift that you're operating in

1021. and a weakness that he is making

1022. manifest [music] his presence in. Okay?

1023. You will experience purpose. You'll

1024. receive more of the spirit. I promise

1025. you, you will go, I never knew the Holy

1026. Spirit could be so alive in me. I never

1027. knew that this could be. It expands like

1028. a balloon. Like my capacity to hold him

1029. [music] and to carry his spirit is

1030. expanded. Uh, I learned more of the

1031. word. The Bible will come alive to you

1032. when you [music] start to walk through

1033. it with other people. When you start to

1034. get someone else's heart on your heart,

1035. the word will come alive to you. You

1036. will grow in compassion [music] for

1037. others because you're going to have to

1038. start working someone through sin,

1039. someone that you love so dearly with a

1040. sin that you have judged so harshly

1041. before. And now you're like, I get it

1042. kind of and I want to see them freed

1043. from this. And I've looked at other

1044. people that carried this sin and I'm

  1045. like, wow,

  1046. I don't relate to that one. That's an

1047. ugly one. You're really messed up.

1048. Suddenly, you're going to find this

1049. compassion [music] for other people in

1050. the same way that Christ had compassion

1051. for people when he didn't give into any

1052. of the sins that they were dealing with,

1053. yet he had incredible compassion on

1054. [music] their sins. Living a life in

1055. overflow will set your spiritual walk on

1056. [music] fire. I ask you to increase your

  1057. output.

1058. Increase your output. For a [music] very

1059. small percentage people in this room, I

  1060. believe

1061. and I hear this. I hear this more than

  1062. it's actually reality. Oh, I need I need

1063. I'm giving too much. I need to just sit

1064. back and receive. Very very very small

1065. [music] percentage. It's probably not

  1066. you.

1067. If you think it is, come find me. I'll

1068. help you to like find a leader. We'll

1069. help you to discern that. So that it's

1070. like, hey, is that because I hear a lot

1071. of people say that and really it's an

  1072. excuse because there's something

1073. consciously or subconsciously in my

1074. heart I'm avoiding. The reality is is

1075. most of us need to learn how to give

1076. differently. It'll set your mission on

1077. fire. It'll [music] set your purpose on

1078. fire. I can give more because I'm

1079. receiving more. I promise you, it'll set

1080. you [music] ablaze. Be the light of

1081. Christ wherever you go. Start serving.

1082. Find someone that you're going to love

1083. into the kingdom [music] of Christ. Find

1084. someone that you're going to disciple

1085. and set their spiritual walk on fire. If

1086. you don't have all three of those areas,

1087. if you don't have people that you're

1088. inviting, if you don't have a mission

1089. field, get one. [music] That's your

1090. application today. Can we stand up?

  1091. And this is

1092. the the only way to actually live a live

1093. a life in [music] overflow. It's not

  1094. just don't don't don't get me wrong.

1095. This is not just uh living

  1096. othersoriented. [music]

  1097. It's selfless.

  1098. I live a life that's for others [music]

1099. because I've been emptied of self. I've

1100. been filled with his spirit. I can't do

  1101. that. I absolutely [music] can't do

1102. that. I can't just empty and make myself

  1103. disappear into nothingness.

1104. I've got problems. I've got [music] sin.

1105. I've got flesh. And the only way to do

1106. that is to live a selfless life where I

1107. actually capture [music] God's heart for

1108. other people is to surrender my life.

1109. Not to make it disappear, but to

1110. actually put it [music] at the feet of

  1111. Jesus. [snorts]

1112. And when I put my life when I crawl onto

1113. the altar of Christ and and and I

1114. [music] say I am now your living

1115. sacrifice. I am yours. I am dead. You

1116. use me however you want. That is where

1117. you will discover the greatest purpose.

1118. And there's [music] no way to be able to

1119. do this. There's no way to be able to

1120. give something that'll actually impact

1121. people more than you can impact them

1122. [music] without the Holy Spirit. So what

1123. I want to invite us to do today is

1124. actually practically figure out what

1125. your what your out overflow is. Okay,

  1126. [music]

1127. that's number one. But honestly, for the

1128. majority of us in this room, we probably

1129. need to just go, I need to start

1130. receiving the Holy Spirit to a level

1131. that I actually have something to pour

  1132. out.

1133. And for some of you in this room, that

1134. may be a first [music] time ever,

1135. maybe the first time in a long time. And

1136. I [music] want to invite you.

  1137. If you go,

1138. I need Jesus. I need to receive him into

1139. my heart. I need to [music] allow for

1140. him to give me purpose, for him to give

1141. me the life that he that Pastor Drew

1142. keeps [music] talking about. Like, I

1143. don't have that. I've still got all this

1144. stuff weighing me. I I I need that. And

1145. if and I need Jesus. I want to be

1146. [music] filled. I just want him to fill

1147. up my heart and my life so I can start

1148. receiving and experiencing [music] that

1149. that first filling so that I can start

  1150. to overflow.

1151. Maybe for [music] the first time ever,

1152. maybe for the first time in a long time,

1153. you say, "I need Jesus and I want to

1154. receive him into my heart." If that's

1155. you, would you put your hand up real

1156. quick just so I [music] can see? It

1157. doesn't have to be super high. I just

1158. want to be able to see. It's just you

1159. and me. Come on. I see you. Thank you.

1160. Who [music] else? Who else in this room?

1161. I see you. Thank you.

1162. I see you. Thank you. I I want to get

1163. right over here. Right over here. Can we

1164. [music] get some of our prayer team?

1165. We're going to have our prayer team come

1166. around. And what we want to do is we

1167. just want to make sure that [music] you

1168. get prayed for. You don't have to do

1169. this alone. In fact, you're not created

1170. to do this alone. In fact, I promise

1171. you, I guarantee [music] you, you will

1172. fail at this alone. It's bigger than

1173. you. It's bigger than me. We have to do

1174. this [music] in the body. We have to do

1175. this. Anybody else? If you don't have

1176. someone gather around you, I saw I saw a

1177. hand over here. I saw a hand right here.

1178. Can we get a gentleman [music] right

1179. over here? I just want to make sure that

1180. we are able to we're we're we're able to

1181. give to you a blessing that you may go,

  1182. I don't necessarily [music] have it

1183. myself. I promise you, we will bless you

1184. in that. If that's you, go ahead and

1185. throw your hand up as you see someone

1186. walking down the aisle, one of our

1187. prayer team [music] members walking down

1188. the aisle. Just kind of wave them down,

1189. flag them down. But I want to do a quick

1190. prayer here. Can we do that?

1191. Wave them down. If while everybody got

1192. get your eyes closed, if that was you

1193. and you responded, go ahead and wave

1194. down a prayer team member right now. For

1195. the rest of us, let's pray. Heavenly

1196. Father, Heavenly Father, I'm sick of

1197. living a life just to get more. When the

1198. world says just receive more, you need

1199. more. You're you you you need to just

1200. get and give and get and get and get.

1201. Lord, I pray that we would learn to live

1202. a life that's built on purpose. we would

1203. position ourselves [music] where we are

1204. forced into a place of overflow. We are

1205. forced into a place of dependence where

1206. [music] we become desperate for you

1207. because we are now in a position that we

1208. cannot operate. We cannot [music] live,

1209. we cannot do this without your spirit

1210. FILLING US. FATHER GOD, I pray would you

1211. allow for every person here at

1212. Collective Church to have something that

1213. opportunities to pour in and to fill us

1214. up and [music] intentional opportunities

1215. to overflow, to pour out, to give away

1216. so that as we leak, [music]

1217. as the enemy comes, as temptation comes,

1218. as problems occur, as we experience

1219. life, Lord, that we would still continue

1220. to be filled and to fill others up,

1221. Lord. Lord, I pray in the mighty name of

1222. Jesus right now. I [music] declare that

1223. the mission fields, the workplaces, the

1224. coffee shops, the gyms, Lord, that the

1225. places that these people go, their

1226. friend groups, Lord, wherever it may be,

1227. I declare in the mighty name of Jesus

1228. that you begin to set your spirit in

1229. their mission field, in their families,

1230. in their homes, in their neighborhood,

1231. with the right relationships, that you

1232. would begin to stir in the in the

1233. evangelism of the person that they're

1234. praying would come into life with you.

1235. Father God, I pray please would you go

1236. before us? Would you go before us into

1237. the conversations that these people

1238. begin to build a curiosity? Lord, I pray

  1239. in spiritual relationships and

  1240. disciplehip relationships. Lord, we

1241. would you begin to establish not just a

1242. disciplehip or relationship, but the

  1243. right one [music]

  1244. where there's a spir a powerful

  1245. spiritual unity where there's a gifting

1246. [music] and an ability to be able to

1247. connect on a on a testimony, Lord, that

1248. that that allows for each person to grow

1249. and to be built off and [music] become

1250. mutual encouraers of each other. Father

1251. God, I pray that we would be a church

1252. that pours out not just here in church

1253. through serving, [music] but pours out

1254. everywhere we go. Would you use us? You

1255. have filled us. We ask for you to use

  1256. us.

1257. Use us, [music] Father. Pour us out like

1258. a drink offering to you. We give our

1259. [music] whole selves in the mighty name

1260. of Jesus we pray. Amen. Amen. Come on.

1261. Can we give a hand for the word of the

  1262. Lord?

1263. >> Hey, thanks so much for watching today's

1264. [music] message. Our prayer is more than

1265. the words that were spoken in the

1266. message that you would remember the

1267. things that God [music] spoke to your

  1268. heart.

1269. >> Yeah. And no matter what it was that God

1270. spoke to you, I know that part of your

1271. journey is other people being in a

1272. community because we are better

1273. together. So, if you made a decision to

1274. follow Jesus today, would you click the

1275. link below and fill out the form? This

1276. is going to help us so that we can

1277. celebrate with you and [music] equip you

1278. with some tools so that your next steps

  1279. are great steps.

1280. >> Yeah. Thanks [music] so much for

  1281. watching. We're praying for you. We're

1282. cheering you on. We believe that the

1283. best days are ahead of you.
