  1. I am so excited about the message that's

  2. going to be coming. Uh I got I got a

  3. buddy uh for a long time and he's been a

  4. uh throughout my life he's been a a role

  5. model guy that I looked up to when he

  6. was at the college and I lived across

  7. the street and then uh when he would

  8. preach while I'm a student at the

  9. college. I remember specific times that

  10. he would come into chapel at Nebraska

  11. Christian College and messages that he

  12. would speak and statements that he would

  13. say and conviction that I felt and uh

  14. and and now we get a partner in co-

  15. labor for the sake of the kingdom in the

  16. same city in Omaha, Nebraska. We've got

  17. a church planter. We've got a youth

  18. pastor. We got a man of God on our

  19. hands. Guys, I know that you will your

  20. heart will be touched by his story and

  21. your life and those around you are ready

  22. to be transformed by this message. Can

  23. we give a hand of expectation, of

  24. gratitude, and of honor for Pastor Ben

  25. Norvig. Come on

  26. ah collective, it is good to be with

  27. you, man. Drew, I just love you. Can Can

  28. you guys put your hands together for

  29. your pastor? Pastor Drew

  30. and Morgan, his wife. Oh my goodness.

  31. Still one of the most beautiful voices

  32. that I think I've ever heard. Morgan,

  33. seriously. Oh, man. Just unbelievably

  34. the way that you have stewarded God's

  35. anointing on your life, both of you. Uh,

  36. the way that your marriage has reflected

  37. Jesus in every way. And it is an honor

  38. and a privilege to be with you guys

  39. today. And it is funny. I was thinking

  40. about this. I was like, "Man, I've known

  41. Drew for over 20 years." And I mean,

  42. like, that's that's wild. I knew him

  43. when he was when he was younger, when he

  44. was little, like when he was just

  45. running around. I've watched him just

  46. grow up and pursue pursue the Lord. I've

  47. watched him uh in youth ministry. We got

  48. a chance to do some youth ministry

  49. together. And here's the thing, I might

  50. be pushing 50, but y'all, I can act like

  51. I'm 14 on any given point in time. And

  52. like, here's the thing. If you don't

  53. believe me, man, for the parents in the

  54. room, come to one tonight. You'll see.

  55. You'll see. If you don't know what one

  56. is, man, I can can I just tell you, one

  57. is a citywide gathering of youth around

  58. our city. It started uh several years

  59. ago, and it started off with there were

  60. probably less than a thousand students

  61. that rolled in. But man, there God is

  62. doing an incredible work here in the

  63. city of Omaha. That's where one comes

  64. from. It's O, Ne, Omaha, Nebraska. It's

  65. the next generation. Last year, we

  66. rented out the Rston Arena and saw

  67. almost 4,000 students show up. So, we're

  68. like, man, you're right. We got no more

  69. room. And so, it was like, okay, let's

  70. where else can we go? And so, this year,

  71. it's at the CHI Health Arena. Um, we're

  72. not in the arena yet. We're just in the

  73. conference rooms, but here's the thing.

  74. We're believing in faith that we'll pack

  75. that thing with 5,000 plus students who

  76. are on fire for the Lord, who want to

  77. pray for one another, who want to be

  78. spurt up. My favorite thing about one is

  79. there's these moments where like kids

  80. from different youth. So there'll be a

  81. kid from collective that goes to like

  82. Millard North, right? And then there'll

  83. be a kid from Love Church that goes to

  84. Millard North and they'll look at each

  85. other and be like, "WAIT, YOU LOVE

  86. JESUS, TOO?"

  87. >> And all the, "Hey, we should do

  88. something together here at Millard

  89. North." And suddenly what happens is

  90. this prayer group start, Bible studies

  91. start. There's just this incredible

  92. thing that happens. And man, I'm just

  93. telling you, God is in the move of the

  94. next generation. So man, parents, can I

  95. just say thank you for your investment

  96. in your students? Um, and for those of

  97. you that have kids, hey, there is road

  98. being paved, there is trees being

  99. knocked down, and there is trails being

  100. blazed for your kids to follow. Man, I'm

  101. telling you, God is doing great things.

  102. In case you don't know, I'm pretty

  103. excited about the next generation.

  104. Uh, as Drew mentioned, I'm the next

  105. generation pastor over at Love Church.

  106. Um, and it's a privilege. It's so funny

  107. um because I I hear you guys are about

  108. to turn five years old.

  109. >> FIVE. COME ON COLLECTIVE. Five years old

  110. now. Uh Love Church actually launched in

  111. 2009

  112. way way back in 2009. Started in Keywit

  113. Middle School and then spent about 10

  114. years in this very auditorium. And so

  115. man, I just I'm like

  116. it's okay. It's cool. Cool. God is good.

  117. He just brings everything full circle.

  118. And so, um, man, before I jump into the

  119. word, can I just tell you a little bit

  120. about myself? Um, just so that you I

  121. just feel like sometimes when you know

  122. the person, it makes it a little easier

  123. to hear because right now you're like,

  124. "That is stranger danger as far as I

  125. know." Um, but man, uh, my name is Ben

  126. Norvig. Uh, I'm 49 years old. I grew up

  127. in North Omaha. Uh, I'm a proud Viking,

  128. right? Any Vikings in the house? Omaha

  129. North. Okay, one of you. Awesome. It's

  130. my brother. Oh, too. Okay, there we go.

  131. Hey, I like it. All right. So, I'm I'm a

  132. Viking and uh man, just God has done

  133. incredible things. Uh I actually played

  134. baseball in college at the University of

  135. Nebraska at Carney. Uh but along the way

  136. learned that you can't get drunk without

  137. the UNK and lost my baseball scholarship

  138. about three semesters in. Um so, here's

  139. the thing. Um man, I'm I'm an ex Viking.

  140. I'm an ex- baseball player and I'm also

  141. an ex- sinner because of Jesus Christ.

  142. >> Can we testify to that?

  143. Now, I I want to I want to be real clear

  144. with that language. You heard me say,

  145. "I'm an ex-sinner." And you're like,

  146. "Oh, so you don't sin no more?" No, I

  147. do. I still sin. But that no longer is

  148. my identity.

  149. >> You see, before I walked around in my

  150. identity as a sinner. In fact,

  151. oftentimes, right, we walk around as

  152. like it's a proud point for us, man. The

  153. things that we do that are against the

  154. Lord. Our rebellion is actually

  155. something that we're like, "Woo, man. I

  156. remember being in high school talking

  157. about, man, oh, I got with this girl and

  158. that girl and what I'm doing is I'm

  159. sitting there bragging about the fact

  160. that I'm in sexual immorality and I

  161. didn't know,

  162. man, I was a sinner, but I'm not defined

  163. by that anymore. I am a follower of

  164. Jesus Christ through and through and to

  165. the glory of God, not through my own

  166. effort, my own works, or anything other

  167. than him. And so, while I may sin, I

  168. will no longer be defined by that.

  169. >> I am an ex-sinner, as are you. Amen.

  170. >> That's what I like to hear. Okay. Um,

  171. let's see. Oh, yeah. Drew mentioned uh

  172. so I went to Bible college uh in uh

  173. 2004. Uh I was 28. Everybody else was

  174. 18. Cool, cool, cool. No doubt. No

  175. doubt. No doubt. Um somehow someway I be

  176. got voted in as student body president

  177. like two years in. Don't know how that

  178. happened. Hey, let's let the old guy

  179. like lead the student body. Um but then

  180. uh went on to plant a church called the

  181. Acts 2 Church in Greta, Nebraska, where

  182. I was the lead pastor there for nine

  183. years uh before the Lord decided to to

  184. move me on into uh he stepped me up into

  185. youth ministry uh with Youth for Christ

  186. and with Love Church. I've been doing

  187. that for the past nine years. Um the

  188. part that I'm really excited to get to

  189. is I have three incredible, amazing,

  190. beautiful daughters.

  191. Faith is 23. Hope is 20 and Grace is 17.

  192. Man, I just I love them so incredibly

  193. dearly. Um, it is a privilege and an

  194. honor to be called your dad. I don't

  195. know how I got so lucky.

  196. Seriously, remember that next time I'm

  197. hollering at you. So, like, but um the

  198. last part of my story that I want to

  199. invite you into today is this. Um, 11

  200. years ago next month, uh, I lost my

  201. wife. I I lost her suddenly and

  202. unexpectedly. The girls lost their mom.

  203. They were 13, nine and six at the time.

  204. Um she passed away in her sleep. Uh we I

  205. went to bed. I kissed her. I said, "Good

  206. night, Heather. I love you." Woke up the

  207. next morning. She had passed away

  208. somewhere in the night. Had stopped

  209. breathing. Um and woke up in glory. It's

  210. the way that we all want to go. We just

  211. don't want to go that way at 41.

  212. But man, can I just tell you that I can

  213. praise God for that?

  214. Because here's the thing. While we're

  215. here on this earth, we are all in exile

  216. because our kingdom is not of this

  217. world, but rather of the kingdom ahead.

  218. And here's the thing. He freed her from

  219. this place, took her to glory. And

  220. someday, we will see her again. And the

  221. wild thing is is that the tightness, the

  222. bond that has been formed with me and my

  223. daughters is incredible. what the enemy

  224. meant for evil when he showed up like a

  225. thief to kill and steal and and destroy.

  226. What he did was he brought a family

  227. together and he stirred up something

  228. inside us that man,

  229. he didn't even know what he did. He

  230. tried to bury us, but like a seed, all

  231. he did was plant us.

  232. >> And we have raised up. We have walked.

  233. And here's the thing. I believe that my

  234. purpose here on this earth is to bring

  235. the kingdom of heaven to earth as it is

  236. in heaven. And that's all of our calls.

  237. It's to bring the good news wherever we

  238. go. MY SPECIFIC CALL is to speak life

  239. and to spread joy. And here's the thing.

  240. When the enemy showed up, he was like, I

  241. got a plan. When he when I take his

  242. wife, when I when I when I crush his

  243. spirit, he'll no LONGER SPEAK LIFE.

  244. HE'LL NO longer spread joy. But all that

  245. happened was, man, I realized that life

  246. is not limited to what's here on earth.

  247. This is a a minor bit. And here's the

  248. thing. WHEN WE SPEAK LIFE HERE, WE SPEAK

  249. ETERNAL LIFE for others later. WHEN WE

  250. SPEAK JOY AND WE SPREAD JOY, IT SETS

  251. PEOPLE FREE. AND YET, SO MANY OF US ARE

  252. STUCK IN THE THINGS THAT WE DO ON the

  253. dayto-day. Man, I've got this going on

  254. and this going on and this going on and

  255. this going on and we're so focused RIGHT

  256. HERE THAT WE ACTUALLY TAKE DON'T TAKE A

  257. SECOND TO look around us and go, man,

  258. there are people all around us dying and

  259. going to hell.

  260. By the way, I love that y'all are a

  261. Halabback church.

  262. >> I asked Drew beforehand. I said, "Hey,

  263. are y'all are y'all a hollowback

  264. church?" And he was like, "We're we're

  265. in process." And I was like, "Oh, we're

  266. going to hollowback today." For those of

  267. you that are like, "Wait, what's a

  268. hollowback church?" It just means this.

  269. We're going to play a lot of pingpong

  270. right now. Somewhere along the way in

  271. the American church, it was like the

  272. pastor preaches and everybody listens.

  273. Today, can we just be a church that man,

  274. if I say something that you like? It's

  275. not necessarily because you like it or

  276. because I said it. It's because the Lord

  277. in his might and his works spoke through

  278. me into your heart. And so, YOU CAN SAY

  279. things like, "AMEN." YOU COULD CLAP YOUR

  280. HANDS. IF YOU START TO THINK I OPERATE

  281. IN MY FLESH, BOO ME. SERIOUSLY, boo me.

  282. If at any point in TIME IN THIS MESSAGE

  283. I go 67 boo. For the love OF PETE,

  284. PLEASE BOO ME.

  285. But hey, can we just holler back today?

  286. Can we Can we dive in? Can we get after

  287. it together? What do you say?

  288. >> I love it. I love it. All right, if you

  289. have your Bibles, and I hope that you

  290. do, will you please open them up to

  291. Romans chapter 10?

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  292. And there's this tradition in the

  293. church. I'm kind of old school in some

  294. of my ways. There's a tradition in the

  295. church that when the word of God was

  296. read, there was such a reverence and awe

  297. for it that the people of God would

  298. stand for the reading of the word of

  299. God. Will you stand this morning for the

  300. reading of the word of God out of Romans

  301. chap 10 verses 13 through 15.

  302. For everyone who calls on the name of

  303. the Lord will be saved. How how then

  304. will they call on him in whom they do

  305. not have not believed? And how are they

  306. to believe in him of whom they have not

  307. heard? And how are they to hear without

  308. someone preaching? And how are they to

  309. preach unless they are sent? As it is

  310. written, how beautiful are the feet of

  311. those who preach good news. Father God,

  312. thank you for your word. It is the same

  313. yesterday, today, and forever. Lord, in

  314. it we we get everything we need. Lord,

  315. we get food for our soul. We give light.

  316. We get light in the midst of darkness.

  317. We get life in the midst of death. And

  318. Lord, you set us free. You give us hope.

  319. You give us joy. You give us peace. You

  320. give us love. And Lord, I just pray

  321. right now that your people would uh have

  322. ears to hear, soft hearts, eyes to see.

  323. And Lord, I pray that everyone in this

  324. room would have beautiful feet in the

  325. name of Jesus Christ. And everybody

  326. said,

  327. >> "Amen." You can grab a seat.

  328. Okay, back in 1949, there was a guy

  329. named John Courier. Turn to your

  330. neighbor, say, "John." Okay, just making

  331. sure they're awake because, you know,

  332. like I mean, sometimes people can fall

  333. asleep. Now, John, here's the thing.

  334. John did some bad things. In fact, John

  335. did some bad things and he did such bad

  336. things that he actually got caught and

  337. he got sentenced to a a life a life

  338. sentence in prison. About 20 years after

  339. that life sentence, you see, somewhere

  340. along the way, he had he had actually

  341. been doing good things and and living

  342. the right life. He'd seen transformation

  343. in his life. He got moved to a hard

  344. farm. About 20 years in, he got

  345. pardoned. And a letter was sent out

  346. saying, "Hey, John Courier, in light of

  347. of recent developments and things, your

  348. sentence has been pardoned. You are a

  349. free man." And the letter got sent to

  350. the hard farm. But it never made its way

  351. to John Courier.

  352. For 10 years, John Courier continued to

  353. serve a sentence that he was now free

  354. from that he was now pardoned from until

  355. one day a PO officer going through

  356. things. Notice that he was still on the

  357. on the on the sheet. And so he drove to

  358. the hard to the hard farm and he told

  359. John Courier the news that he should

  360. have heard 10 years before. You are

  361. free. You're a free man.

  362. Can you imagine that? And when I when I

  363. when I remember when I first heard that

  364. story, I was like, man,

  365. that just my heart hurts. He lost 10

  366. years of his life when he was a free man

  367. and yet he continued to walk in a

  368. sentence that he was no longer bound in

  369. because nobody GOT HIM THE LETTER.

  370. NOBODY TOLD HIM THE GOOD NEWS THAT HE

  371. WAS FREE. FREE. Free indeed.

  372. And when I think about that, I'm like,

  373. man, how many people around us are

  374. walking around in a sentence to sin

  375. because nobody's told them that they

  376. could be free through the blood of Jesus

  377. Christ?

  378. >> Man, I want to put on good news shoes.

  379. When I say good news shoes, I mean every

  380. single day that I put on my shoes, I

  381. want to think to myself,

  382. these shoes have a purpose.

  383. Lord, you're going to guide my steps.

  384. You're going to guide my ways. I want to

  385. put on good new shoes. In fact, if you

  386. know this, you know the armor of God

  387. that we're supposed to put on. We're

  388. supposed to put on our good news shoes.

  389. Romans 10 right there just told us that

  390. how beautiful are the feet of those who

  391. bring good news. Turn to somebody and

  392. say, "Good news."

  393. >> Turn to the person you didn't choose and

  394. say, "Good news for you, too."

  395. >> Right? All right. See, LIKE HERE WE GO,

  396. MAN. HOW CAN WE BE A PEOPLE THAT BRING

  397. GOOD NEWS?

  398. >> Do you know the good news? If you don't,

  399. let me tell you the good news. You see,

  400. here's the thing. You have been designed

  401. and created in the image of God. Each

  402. and every one of you, right? That's

  403. right. No, you might be sitting here

  404. thinking, "Well, maybe not me." No.

  405. Every single one of us was designed and

  406. created in the image of God. We were

  407. designed to walk with him, be in

  408. relationship with him. When we look at

  409. the beginning of the word of God in

  410. Genesis, we see Adam and Eve being

  411. created and they walk with God naked in

  412. the garden, in the stillness. MAN, CAN

  413. YOU IMAGINE THAT? EVERY single day

  414. walking with THE LORD EVERY SINGLE DAY

  415. WITHOUT FEAR, WITHOUT DOUBT, WITHOUT

  416. DOUBT, WITHOUT CONDEMNATION. YOU JUST

  417. WALK WITH THE LORD in his goodness every

  418. single day.

  419. >> And then

  420. every single one of us have fallen have

  421. fallen into the same trap as Adam and

  422. Eve and we do this thing called sinning.

  423. Now, here's the thing. This is the bad

  424. news part because don't you know good

  425. news is always better when you hear the

  426. bad news first.

  427. I mean sometimes if you don't know the

  428. bad news then you can't understand the

  429. good news. If I look at you and I say

  430. hey anyone who calls on the Lord will be

  431. saved. You're like awesome. Saved from

  432. what?

  433. There are people walking around in our

  434. world that they don't even know that

  435. they need to be saved. They're drowning.

  436. It's like a frog. IF YOU THROW A FROG IN

  437. A BOILING POT OF WATER, what happens? It

  438. jumps out.

  439. But if you put a frog in a cold uh cold

  440. uh pot of water and you turn up the

  441. heat, the frog will stay in there and

  442. gradually burn to death. So many of us

  443. are doing that that we have no idea what

  444. we need to be saved from. WE DON'T KNOW

  445. THE GOOD news because we don't know the

  446. bad news. THE BAD NEWS IS THIS. WE ARE

  447. ALL SINNERS. WE HAVE ALL SINNED and

  448. fallen short of THE GLORY OF GOD. WHAT

  449. is sin? Sin is anytime we rebel against

  450. the Lord. Walk away FROM THE LORD. DON'T

  451. WALK IN THE WAYS THAT HE DESIGNED US TO.

  452. CAN I JUST TELL YOU GOD'S WAY FOR YOUR

  453. LIFE IS BETTER THAN anything the world

  454. says. AND BY THE WAY, THE WORLD HAS

  455. GONE, HM, HOW DO we like how do we

  456. actually like flip the script and do it

  457. the exact opposite of the way that God

  458. says? So the world says, "Hey, get

  459. bigger, better, faster, stronger.

  460. Everything you need is ascending."

  461. Right? Think about it. In your life,

  462. right? I I love to think about this this

  463. way. In your life, you're born. And when

  464. you're born, you're completely dependent

  465. upon your parents. Yes.

  466. Sometimes that can be a good thing.

  467. Sometimes that can be a bad thing. Yes.

  468. Completely dependent on your parents.

  469. And then all of a sudden as you get

  470. older, you start to like think like

  471. yourself. You start to develop your own

  472. gifts. You get to you get to elementary

  473. school. You get to graduate into middle

  474. school. You get to middle school. You

  475. get to graduate to high school. Out of

  476. high school, everybody asks you the

  477. simple question. What are where are you

  478. going to college? Right? You graduate

  479. from college. You move on. You're going

  480. to get a job there. You're probably

  481. going to meet somebody. You're going to

  482. marry that somebody. You're going to get

  483. a house. YOU AND THAT PERSON are going

  484. to start to have kids together. When you

  485. get the kids together, you're going to

  486. need a bigger house. Then all of a

  487. sudden, you get a promotion at work. You

  488. want another promotion. You get another

  489. promotion. YOU GET MORE STUFF. You can

  490. ultimately and e epically get to

  491. retirement. And then when you get to

  492. retirement, you can finally just rest

  493. and pour into your grandkids, pour into

  494. your kids the way that your parents did,

  495. too. Everything is about ascending. Yes.

  496. >> And by the way, along the way, you're

  497. told what you have is not enough.

  498. >> Marketing 101.

  499. What you have is not enough. The joy

  500. that you have, not enough. You need

  501. happiness, not joy.

  502. The peace that you have, no. Peace isn't

  503. something that you can just sit in. You

  504. don't really want peace. You want more

  505. stuff. You need more things. That

  506. iPhone, it's two years old. It's

  507. starting to glitch. My kids tell me this

  508. all the time. Dad, I think we're up.

  509. We're due for an upgrade. My battery

  510. level's going down. I get these glitches

  511. on the phone. Also, the new iPhone looks

  512. really cool. I'm like, "Oh, man. They

  513. have got you hook, line, and sinker."

  514. Also, I've noticed that about my iPhone.

  515. Let's go together, girls.

  516. Right. Bigger, better, faster, stronger.

  517. You need, you need, you need. And what

  518. you get is just temporary. It just gives

  519. you a a momentary like, "Oh, man. That

  520. was awesome." And now IT'S LIKE

  521. CAFFEINE. YAY.

  522. RIGHT. Or sugar. Right. Okay. Cool.

  523. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. All right. I'm

  524. I'm I'm like tangent. Bring it back,

  525. Ben. Bring it back. Okay. The world

  526. tells us that. But wait, is that the way

  527. of Jesus?

  528. >> No. The way of Jesus. Jesus is in

  529. heaven. He leaves heaven, comes to earth

  530. in the form of a baby in a manger, not

  531. in the form of a baby in a palace.

  532. >> He doesn't come into this world like a

  533. king. He comes because he wants to take

  534. on take on humanity the same way that we

  535. do. He wants to experience what we do.

  536. He wants to He wants to walk with us

  537. where we walk. Why? Because we're all

  538. sinners who fall short of the glory of

  539. God. And by the way, the wages of those

  540. sin lead to death. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS

  541. IN THE GARDEN. GOD'S original plan,

  542. which is to walk with his people for all

  543. of time to be to walk just in the

  544. goodness of God. When they eat of the

  545. knowledge of good and evil, what happens

  546. is is the world goes from just knowing

  547. good to just knowing good and evil and

  548. sin enters in. Isn't that wild? I want

  549. to go back and I want to BE LIKE, "ADAM,

  550. EVE, BRO, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?"

  551. And every time I do that, I sit there

  552. and I go, "Lord, forgive me for what I

  553. did because I'd have done the same

  554. thing."

  555. And so God gave his people a a a law.

  556. This is how you can walk in my best, but

  557. they couldn't keep it. So he gave them a

  558. sacrificial system. Hey, when you can't

  559. keep my law, something has to die

  560. because the wages of sin are death. And

  561. so here's the sacrificial system. And

  562. yet the people of God, they would walk

  563. away from the law and the sacrificial

  564. system and from being called God's

  565. people all throughout the Old Testament.

  566. And so God launches that plan and that

  567. plan involves Jesus in the in a place of

  568. authority in a place the right hand of

  569. his father. He leaves heaven and he

  570. comes to earth. He descends.

  571. He doesn't just descend. He descends to

  572. the form of a baby in a manger. And then

  573. we know that for 30 years he's just a

  574. carpenter. Which by the way, anybody in

  575. here in your 20s?

  576. Okay, a couple of you. Can I just tell

  577. you a lie that the that that the world

  578. is telling you right now? The world

  579. right now is telling you that if you

  580. haven't made your first million by the

  581. time you're 25, you're a failure, man.

  582. That if you look around, look at all the

  583. people in their 20s, they're doing

  584. everything good. You know what Jesus was

  585. doing at 25? He was a carpenter. You

  586. know what he was doing at 27? He was a

  587. better carpenter. You know what he was

  588. doing at 29?

  589. Probably an even better carpenter.

  590. Right? Here's the thing. Can I JUST SET

  591. YOU GUYS FREE right now? If you're in

  592. your 20s, you don't have to have it all

  593. figured out cuz Jesus at 30 years old

  594. years old launched into his ministry and

  595. launched into the rescue mission that he

  596. had. Now, did he do amazing things those

  597. first 30 years? Oh, you know he did.

  598. By the way, can we just be honest? Like

  599. that dining room set made by Jesus, you

  600. know, that was anointed.

  601. I don't know what stain he used, but

  602. it smelt like Holy Spirit.

  603. Okay, I'm I'm off I'm off in the weeds

  604. again. Okay, sorry.

  605. Sometimes the things that come out of my

  606. brain. Okay, cool, cool, cool. All

  607. right, so Jesus leaves, right? But

  608. here's the thing. When he launches INTO

  609. HIS MINISTRY, HERE'S THE THING. He

  610. doesn't go, "ALL RIGHT, HEY, HERE I AM.

  611. THE SON of God is here for EVERYONE TO

  612. SEE." IN FACT, most of the time in his

  613. ministry, he tells people not to tell

  614. people who he is. IN FACT, HE THEN OKAY,

  615. SO YOU'RE LIKE, "OKAY, well then if he's

  616. the son of God, clearly he probably went

  617. to like the king of all kings at the

  618. time. He probably was like out there

  619. being like,"Hey everyone, look at me."

  620. Like he was he was putting all sorts of

  621. stuff. He was going viral on TikTok, on

  622. Instagram. He had followers galore. But

  623. here's the crazy thing. Jesus actually

  624. went to the outcasts, to the sinners, to

  625. the tax collectors, to the to the to the

  626. prostitutes, TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WERE

  627. TOLD, "HEY, YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH." IN

  628. OTHER WORDS, Jesus spent most of his

  629. time on the island of misfit toys.

  630. Hey, anybody here belong on the island

  631. of misfit toys?

  632. >> Hey, I'm glad you're here

  633. >> because you're right where you're

  634. supposed to be because that's who Jesus

  635. spent most of his time with. He also

  636. called these 12 disciples, these 12 men,

  637. one of which would betray him, would

  638. constantly steal from him. All of the

  639. rest of them would actually run away

  640. from him as he's getting ready to to

  641. die. The wild and crazy. Okay, so hang

  642. on. Back back up. We're not there yet.

  643. Cool, cool, cool. Whoop. All right, back

  644. to it. Listen, I get excited when I talk

  645. about Jesus.

  646. >> I told Drew, I said, "Man, I'm going to

  647. just go." And he was like, "Yeah, that's

  648. what that's what we need to hear. We

  649. need to hear your like addness." So, if

  650. you're f my ADD PEOPLE RIGHT NOW, FOLLOW

  651. WITH ME. HERE WE GO. ALL RIGHT.

  652. SO, Jesus lives this life, right? But

  653. here's the thing. The more he loves

  654. people, the more he teaches, the more he

  655. actually points people away from the

  656. ways of the world, the more people are

  657. drawn to him. In fact, his it keeps

  658. growing and it keeps growing. The

  659. feeding of the 5,000, an incredible

  660. miracle, was actually probably the

  661. feeding of 10 to 15,000 because it was

  662. 5,000 men, but probably women and

  663. children as well. Therefore, HE PROBABLY

  664. FED WAY MORE than we think that he did.

  665. AND THERE WAS EXTRA. HERE'S THE THING.

  666. AND WHEN HIS CROWD STARTED TO GET TOO

  667. BIG, HE WOULD DO THINGS LIKE IN JOHN 6

  668. WHERE he would say, "Hey, if anyone

  669. wants to follow after me, they must eat

  670. my flesh and drink my blood." And

  671. everybody's like, "Hey, peace. This

  672. guy's crazy. I'm out."

  673. Like, here's the thing. IN A WORLD

  674. THAT'S ALL ABOUT BUILDING CLOUT,

  675. BUILDING FOLLOWERS, BUILDING INFLUENCE,

  676. building all that, JESUS IS LIKE, "MAN,

  677. I'M JUST GOING TO DO WHAT I'm called to

  678. do, which is TO LIVE THE LIFE THAT Y'ALL

  679. can't live BECAUSE I'M GOING TO GO DIE

  680. THE DEATH THAT YOU DESERVE TO DIE.

  681. >> THAT'S MY MISSION. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT,

  682. MAN? THIS IS THE ONE THING THAT YOU HAVE

  683. TO DO, MAN. JESUS DID INCREDIBLE THINGS.

  684. WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE MIRACLES. WE

  685. WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE TEACHINGS. WE

  686. WANT TO TALK ABOUT ALL THAT JESUS DID."

  687. AND RIGHTLY SO. BUT ULTIMATELY JESUS

  688. CAME FOR ONE PURPOSE AND THAT WAS TO DIE

  689. ON A CROSS FOR US.

  690. >> LITERALLY. AND HERE'S THE WILD THING. IT

  691. WAS LIKE THE MORE HE LOVED PEOPLE, THE

  692. MORE THAT CERTAIN PEOPLE HATED HIM AND

  693. THEY RALLIED UP EVERYBODY AND THEY AND

  694. THEY GOT EVERYBODY AGAINST him and THEY

  695. PUT HIM TO DEATH ON A CROSS. AND HERE'S

  696. THE THING. ON THE CROSS, HE SAYS THESE

  697. WORDS, "FATHER, FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY

  698. KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO." AND IN THIS

  699. MOMENT, THERE'S A GREAT EXCHANGE. ALL OF

  700. OUR SIN COME UPON JESUS. ALL OF HIS

  701. RIGHTEOUSNESS, HIS SALVATION, HIS

  702. GOODNESS COMES OUT UPON US. AND THEN HE

  703. SAYS, "IT IS FINISHED." WHAT IS

  704. FINISHED? THE MISSION THAT HE WAS SENT

  705. ON IS FINISHED. IN THAT MOMENT, HE IS

  706. SEPARATED. HE HAS DESCENDED TO THE POINT

  707. OF DEATH ON A CROSS FOR EACH AND EVERY

  708. ONE OF US. NOT FOR HIS NAME'S SAKE, BUT

  709. TO SAVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US. BY THE

  710. WAY, I LOVE THIS MOMENT, BY THE WAY, IN

  711. THE GARDEN of Gethsemane right

  712. beforehand, right? When they come to

  713. like arrest him, Judas kisses him on the

  714. cheek. All right. And then all of a

  715. sudden, they take him captive. Peter

  716. being like brash. By the way, I love

  717. Peter. I love how brash he is and how he

  718. gets it wrong every time.

  719. I'm going TO JUMP OUT IN THE WATER.

  720. He pulls OUT HIS SWORD, CHOPS OFF THE

  721. EAR OF THE HIGH PRIEST. JESUS GOES, "Put

  722. your sword away. Don't you know that

  723. those who live by the sword die by the

  724. sword?" Picks up his ear, heals his ear.

  725. He goes like, "Peter, don't you know I

  726. could call down legions of angels?" And

  727. then they go about their way. Stop.

  728. That's important

  729. because a legion is a Roman military

  730. unit of somewhere between 2,000 and

  731. 6,000 soldiers.

  732. We know in the Old Testament there's a

  733. story of Hezekiah where Hezekiah is

  734. surround surrounded by Sinakarb and the

  735. armies. And Sirakarb actually says on a

  736. prism, I had him trapped like a bird in

  737. a cage. Hezekiah cries out to God that

  738. night. One angel of the Lord rolls in,

  739. wipes out 185,000 soldiers. One angel

  740. wipes out 185,000 soldiers. Jesus says,

  741. "Peter, don't you know I could call down

  742. legion 2 to 6,000 soldier two to 6,000

  743. angels to come to my side?" In other

  744. words, here's the thing. If you happen

  745. to have a calculator on your phone and

  746. you want to do the math, type in

  747. 185,000* 5,000. And what you'll find is

  748. this. What Jesus says there is, don't

  749. you know I have the authority and the

  750. ability to call down angels to wipe out

  751. all of mankind, but instead I'm going to

  752. go to the cross. I'm going to die in

  753. their place to save all of mankind.

  754. Don't miss this.

  755. Jesus is like, I have the power and the

  756. authority and yet I'm going to descend

  757. and not use it so that I can save my

  758. people.

  759. He then would spend three days in the

  760. grave. On the third day, he would raise

  761. up from the grave. He conquers sin on

  762. the cross. He conquers death on the

  763. grave. By the way, now he, every single

  764. one of us can now come to him. We can

  765. lean into him. And then here's the wild

  766. thing. 40 days later, he ascends into

  767. heaven at that moment so that the Holy

  768. Spirit can come. HE DOESN'T EVEN WANT TO

  769. MAKE IT ABOUT HIMSELF after he's

  770. accomplished THE MISSION. HE GOT TO WHAT

  771. HE DID. IT'S TIME FOR JESUS TO BE

  772. PRAISED. AND HE'S LIKE, "WAIT, I'VE GOT

  773. A BETTER PLAN." GOD WITH US. JESUS IS

  774. going to leave so that God in us, the

  775. Holy Spirit can come so that we can now

  776. bring the kingdom of heaven to earth as

  777. it is in heaven. And we can declare that

  778. his name is the name above all names. He

  779. is the king of all kings, THE LORD OF

  780. ALL LORDS. WE ARE FREE. FREE. Free

  781. indeed. AND WE NO LONGER have to BE

  782. DRIVEN BY OUR SIN. THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS.

  783. >> Anybody like that?

  784. By the way, in case you're like, "Well,

  785. that's just what Jesus did." Paul does

  786. it, too. If you happen to put Paul's

  787. letters in uh to to the churches in

  788. chronological order, the first one he's

  789. like, "Paul, an apostle." He's like,

  790. "Look at me. I'm an apostle." The next

  791. time he's like, "Paul, the least of the

  792. apostles." The next time, I think it's

  793. in Ephesians, he actually says, "Paul,

  794. who's one of the least of the

  795. believers." And then finally, he goes,

  796. "Paul,

  797. who hangs out with the sinners, and I am

  798. the worst of all of these sinners."

  799. Because what happens is the more you

  800. walk with Jesus, the more you realize

  801. that you don't want the things of this

  802. world, the status of this world, the

  803. power of this world, the names of this

  804. world. Instead, you want to be known as

  805. one who's been set free by Jesus.

  806. It's amazing what happens when we start

  807. to serve people well. Okay, so now why

  808. is that important? You're like, "Bro,

  809. get to the text." Well, first of all, I

  810. hope you heard a whole lot of the Bible

  811. right there. I love to storyt tell the

  812. word of God. Okay, Romans chapter 10.

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  813. For anyone Everyone who calls on the

  814. name of the Lord will be saved.

  815. I mean, can I It's that simple. People

  816. sometimes are like, "Okay, yeah, but

  817. then but but okay, what all do I have to

  818. do? Call on the name of the Lord and

  819. you'll be saved. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

  820. But but then but then I need to read my

  821. Bible every day and I need to go to

  822. church on Sundays and I need to be

  823. baptized and I need to probably like

  824. like go and serve the poor and care for

  825. the orphans and the widows and all those

  826. things. Those are things that I have to

  827. do in order to be saved. No, those are

  828. things that you get to do because you're

  829. saved.

  830. >> Can we just be honest?

  831. No. Nobody wants to read the word of God

  832. unless you've been changed by the by the

  833. by the Lord himself. Nobody wants to

  834. come to church. By the way, fun fact,

  835. though, by the way, science is now

  836. showing that when we sing, it releases

  837. chemicals in our brain. It actually

  838. heals illnesses and all that kind of

  839. stuff. And it's driving atheist nuts

  840. right now. So, they're like getting

  841. together and they're trying to call like

  842. do these things where they're like,

  843. "Hey, let's just get together and sing

  844. because it'll help us physically."

  845. Listen to every atheist that has ever

  846. walked. I'm like, listen, just come and

  847. like hear about Jesus with us in church

  848. and you can sing with us and man, you'll

  849. get healed. Not just in your body, but

  850. in your heart, your soul, and your mind.

  851. >> I'm just saying. But here's the thing.

  852. Nobody wants to worship Jesus unless

  853. he's your king.

  854. >> Otherwise, I'd rather worship myself.

  855. So, here's the thing. All of those

  856. things aren't what we do to be saved.

  857. It's what we get to do because we're

  858. saved. And one of the best things that

  859. we get to do because we're saved is what

  860. Romans is going to talk about next. Are

  861. you ready for it? I'm ready. Turn to

  862. your neighbor and go, "Are you ready?

  863. Oh, you ready for this?" Okay, cool,

  864. cool, cool. Turn to your other neighbor

  865. you didn't choose. Hey, are you ready?

  866. Oh, they're asleep. You might want to

  867. wake them up. Okay, cool.

  868. Verse 14. How then will they call on him

  869. in whom they have not believed? And how

  870. are they to believe in him of whom they

  871. have not heard? And how are they to hear

  872. without someone preaching? And how are

  873. they to preach unless they are sent? As

  874. it is written, how beautiful are the

  875. feet of those who preach good news.

  876. Okay, did you catch it? How how are you

  877. going to call if you don't believe? How

  878. are you going to believe if you don't

  879. hear? How are you going to hear if you

  880. don't have somebody that tells you? And

  881. how are you going to have somebody tell

  882. you if they're not sent? Here's the

  883. thing, church. Can I just encourage you,

  884. put on your good news shoes?

  885. >> Here's the thing. When we put on our

  886. good news, the first thing that we do is

  887. we go, "Okay, these shoes tell me that

  888. I'm sent." It is funny to me that he

  889. doesn't say how beautiful is the mouth.

  890. How beautiful are the arms. How

  891. beautiful is the head of those who bring

  892. good news. He says how beautiful are the

  893. feet. He doesn't say how beautiful are

  894. the hands. Some of you are getting upset

  895. right now. Bear with me for a second.

  896. Here's the thing. Anybody can talk the

  897. talk. ANYBODY AGREE WITH THAT?

  898. >> But what do we say? Actions speak louder

  899. than words.

  900. >> Ah. So, okay, let me get this straight.

  901. So, it's not just about the mouth. It's

  902. about the hands. Because the hands prove

  903. whether or not the mouth is doing that,

  904. right? But anybody ever seen a mime when

  905. they do this

  906. like you got to move. So here's THE

  907. THING. WHEN YOU START TO MOVE, RIGHT,

  908. your feet move, your hands follow. Now

  909. all of a sudden you're doing actions and

  910. then YOUR MOUTH FOLLOWS AS well and you

  911. speak the good news. ARE YOU TRACKING

  912. WITH ME? THE REASON HE SAYS food your

  913. feet IS BECAUSE HE'S LIKE, I DON'T WANT

  914. YOU JUST TO STAY WHERE YOU'RE AT AND

  915. WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO COME TO YOU. I WANT

  916. YOU TO GO SHOW THEM JESUS, TELL THEM

  917. ABOUT JESUS, AND CHANGE THEIR LIVES.

  918. >> LIKE, HERE'S THE THING. WHO WILL LIKE,

  919. who will call on the name of the Lord

  920. unless they believe? They can't believe

  921. in something that they don't hear, which

  922. is the good news that we just got done

  923. talking about? Who how are they going to

  924. hear if nobody preaches it? And by the

  925. way, you know who gets to preach it? Us.

  926. And you know how we get to preach it?

  927. when we're sent.

  928. Now, here's the wild thing. You're sent

  929. every single day. You get to wear good

  930. news shoes to your job. You get to wear

  931. good news to your house. You get to wear

  932. good good news shoes to your schools.

  933. You get to wear good news shoes to

  934. Target. You get to wear good news to

  935. shoes to Walmart. Man,

  936. can you imagine if all of a sudden on

  937. the website people of Walmart was just a

  938. whole bunch of people telling people

  939. about Jesus?

  940. Man, there were these nuts at Walmart

  941. the other day.

  942. There's there's an old song that

  943. suddenly has like been like kicked back

  944. up. It's um now Josiah Queen is singing

  945. it. Jesus freak. Anybody remember this

  946. song?

  947. What would what would what would people

  948. think if they labeled me a Jesus streak

  949. or Jesus freak? What will they do when

  950. they find out it's true?

  951. Like ah here's the thing. So can I just

  952. tell you that I actually um we actually

  953. at Rev Rally which is our youth group.

  954. We actually um I told I taught this good

  955. news shoes concept to them and we

  956. actually wrote on our shoes

  957. like hundreds of students wrote

  958. scripture on their shoes. Wrote the

  959. words good news on their shoes so that

  960. when they go to their schools and people

  961. see it they're going to go hey like why

  962. do you have why do you have writing on

  963. your shoes? And you know what they just

  964. did? They just invited you into a Jesus

  965. conversation.

  966. >> By the way, I I didn't bring Sharpies

  967. today.

  968. But what if you did that? And even if

  969. you don't write on your shoes, but what

  970. if you wrote on your shoes, man, good

  971. news shoes?

  972. What if you wrote Romans 10:15? What if

    Romans 10:15

  973. you wrote Matthew 28:19 and 20? Go and

    Matthew 28:19

  974. make disciples of all the nations,

  975. baptizing them in the name of the

  976. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

  977. teaching them all that I've commanded

  978. you. And lo, I'm with you always, even

  979. to the end of the age. What if every

  980. single morning, anybody look at your

  981. shoes and try to figure out if they

  982. match your fit? By the way, do mine?

  983. >> For those of you that can't see, on the

  984. back, it says, "Girl dad."

  985. Told you I love my daughters.

  986. And by the way, it's a talking point. I

  987. tell people all THE TIME, "LOOK, GIRL

  988. DAD. girl dad. Girl dad. What if instead

  989. it said, "Hey, good news. Good news.

  990. Good news." And now all of a sudden

  991. people are like, "Well, the same way

  992. that when I say girl dad," they're like,

  993. "Oh, you have daughters. Tell me about

  994. them." Oh, let me brag for just a

  995. minute. But if we had good news written

  996. on our shoes, imagine people would be

  997. like, "Oh, why do you have good news on

  998. your shoes?" "Oh, let me brag just a

  999. little bit about the King of all kings,

1000. the Lord of all lords, the one who

1001. brings good news to you and me."

1002. >> Here's the thing. We walk around all the

1003. time and we're like, "Man, I just wish I

1004. wish I could have Jesus conversations."

  1005. You can.

1006. It just means you might have to be a

  1007. little weird,

  1008. a little strange.

1009. What would people do if they knew you

  1010. were Jesus freak?

1011. What would they do if they found out it

1012. was true? Now, I'm going to be really

1013. honest right now. There might be some

1014. people in the room that are like,

1015. "Yeah, but I don't what what if they ask

  1016. me questions?

1017. I I just don't know enough of the Bible.

  1018. I I don't have enough of an

1019. understanding." And I'd be afraid of how

  1020. they would they'd ask me a question. I'd

  1021. be like, "I don't know." And that's

1022. actually worse, right? It's better for

1023. me to not say anything than it is for me

1024. to give a wrong answer. Yeah, that's

1025. true. But why do you have to give a

1026. wrong answer? You know my favorite words

  1027. in youth ministry?

  1028. I don't know.

1029. But I'll get back to you and let you

1030. know because here's what happens. So

1031. let's say that worst case scenario

1032. happens. You wear good new shoes on your

1033. shoes or you start to you have the

1034. boldness to go up to a family member, to

  1035. a friend, to a co-orker, to a classmate,

1036. whoever it might be, and you're like,

1037. "Hey, I would love to tell you about

  1038. Jesus."

1039. And they ask you a hard question. and it

  1040. stumps you.

1041. You go like this. I don't know, but I'll

1042. get back to you on that. You know what

1043. you just did? You made one Jesus

  1044. conversation, too.

1045. >> They just invited you to come back and

1046. have another Jesus conversation. And

1047. then you go to Drew or Morgan or some

1048. your small group leader or somebody

1049. that's a leader in the church and you

1050. say, "Hey, I got to ask this question.

1051. What does the Bible say about this?" And

1052. then you search the Bible. You find the

1053. answer. You go go back. you have a a

1054. Jesus conversation, but then they look

1055. at you and they got a harder question.

1056. You know what you do?

  1057. >> I don't know. But I'll get back to you.

1058. We got three Jesus conversations.

1059. >> But then you're like, "Oh, okay. Okay,

1060. that doesn't worry me, Ben. That doesn't

1061. worry me." You know what worries me,

1062. though, is I still have this sin in my

  1063. life.

1064. And and if I tell people about Jesus and

1065. they know that I love Jesus, that I'm

1066. going to church, but then they see me

1067. sinning like, right, like I go to church

1068. on Sundays, but you know, sometimes I

1069. drink a little bit much on Friday

1070. nights. I I go to church on Sunday, but

1071. then after church I go home with my

1072. boyfriend or my girlfriend who I'm

1073. living with. And you're like, man, I

1074. if people know my life, like that

1075. they're going to think that I'm like

  1076. walking a double-edged sword, can I tell

1077. you two things? Number one, take

1078. whatever that thing is that came to your

1079. mind, take it to the Lord and say,

  1080. "Lord, set me free."

1081. >> Let somebody in this church lay hands on

1082. you and pray for you. I know your pastor

1083. would love to do that. Right? Send him

1084. an email. Blow up his email this week.

1085. Everybody just blow up Drew's email this

1086. week with like, "Hey, I need somebody to

1087. come and pray for me. I need somebody to

1088. come lay hands on me. I have these

1089. questions, these doubts, these concerns

1090. that people are awesome. You know what?

1091. He would love it." And then he'll email

1092. me and be like, "Thanks a lot, Ben."

1093. I mean, after all, pastors only work one

  1094. day a week, right?

  1095. Lies.

1096. Lies. It's like one of the jobs. It's

  1097. like it's like a a a parent. It never

1098. stops. You are on the clock 247 because

1099. you never know when the Lord's not going

1100. to wake you up at 3:00 a.m. and be like,

1101. "Boom. I got something for you. I need

1102. you to send this text." Make sure that

1103. you hit it with the send later, not at

  1104. 3:00 a.m., right? I've got this message

1105. for you. I've got this word for you.

1106. I've got this call because somebody's in

  1107. the midst of a a fight, a midst of a

1108. battle. Okay, I'm running out of time.

1109. Yep. Cool. All right, cool. I got to

1110. wrap this up. Can I just tell you, your

1111. sin does not define you.

1112. >> Do not let your past mess around with

  1113. your future.

1114. >> There are a lot of us right now in this

1115. room, I'm sure, that are sitting here

1116. going, "Man, I have a choice. Am I going

1117. to allow my past to continue to define

1118. me? Am I going to allow my past to

1119. continue to creep into my present and

1120. then creep into my future? or am I going

1121. to believe what Jesus says about me, who

1122. he says I am, and am I gonna walk in who

1123. he says I am, even if I'm not perfect,

1124. even if I don't have it all figured out.

1125. But man, I just love Jesus because the

1126. gospel is so simple. It's this. Jesus

1127. Christ, the son of God, left heaven,

1128. came to earth, lived the life WE

1129. COULDN'T LIVE, DIED THE DEATH THAT WE

1130. DESERVE to die, was buried for three

1131. days, rose up. BECAUSE OF THAT, I NO

1132. LONGER have to walk in sin. I'm a

1133. DIFFERENT PERSON. I'M FILLED WITH JOY,

1134. PEACE, HOPE, AND LOVE. And man, I WANT

1135. TO INVITE YOU INTO IT, TOO. That's the

  1136. gospel.

1137. I I always love to think about August

  1138. 14th, 1945. Anybody know why that date's

  1139. important?

1140. That's the day that World War II

1141. officially came to an end. And if you've

1142. seen the pictures, you know the pictures

1143. that that are out there, right? The

1144. pictures that that are out there is like

1145. Time Square with the big sign, the war

1146. is over. It's the picture of like um

1147. like military people kissing their

1148. spouse in that moment and everything.

1149. It's this wonderful wonderful thing. But

1150. here's the thing. Back then technology

1151. wasn't what it was now. And so you know

1152. how people found out that the war was

1153. over? It was most of the time by word of

1154. mouth. I remember hearing uh Satie uh

1155. Satie Robertson telling a story about

1156. when she actually asked her mima about

1157. this. She said, "Do you remember on

1158. August 14th, 1945?" And her mima said,

1159. "Oh, I do. I I remember hearing the news

1160. that the war was over. I remember

1161. spilling out into the streets praising,

1162. celebrating, rejoicing. I even saw

1163. SOMEBODY TRY TO LIKE A GROUP OF PEOPLE

1164. FLIPPED A CAR. I'D NEVER SEEN anything

1165. like that before. Because man, when

1166. people get excited, they do crazy

  1167. things.

1168. And she goes, "Oh, Mima, that's amazing.

1169. Do you remember who told you? Was it a

1170. teacher? Was it your was it your

1171. parents?" And she said, "Oh, honey, I

1172. can't remember who told me, but I

1173. remember the effect that it had on my

  1174. life.

1175. Can I just tell you, man, when we are

1176. people who wear good news shoes, we may

1177. not see the results. We may not know the

1178. results. And by the way, it isn't to

1179. make our name great. It's to make his

1180. name great and to save people because

1181. they can call on the name of the Lord.

1182. Because man, how can they call if they

1183. don't believe? How can they believe if

1184. they don't hear? How can they hear if

1185. it's not preached to them? And how can

1186. it be preached to them unless it's not

  1187. sent?

1188. Man, I want to make heaven crowded.

1189. It's the reason that I told you the

1190. story about my wife at the very

  1191. beginning.

1192. Listen, before she passed away, we

1193. wanted to make heaven crowded.

1194. Since she's passed away, we want to make

1195. heaven crowded. And not just, but here's

1196. the thing. I don't want to just make

1197. heaven crowded later. I want to bring

1198. the kingdom of heaven to earth as it is

  1199. in heaven.

  1200. >> But I'm also a baseball fan.

1201. And there's this picture I want to put

1202. on the screen real quick and I'm going

1203. to invite the worship team to come up as

1204. well. But there's this picture and I

1205. love this picture. Uh this is this is

1206. moments after a walk-off home run. If

1207. you guys know in baseball a walk-off

1208. home run means it was in the bottom of

1209. the ninth inning and the guy had just

1210. hit a home run. And look look at his

1211. teammates. They're all pumped up.

  1212. They're excited. I even love the

1213. teammates that are late getting to the

1214. party. His third base coach is super

1215. pumped. He's coming around. Look at how

  1216. excited he is. AND THERE'S A GUY THAT'S

1217. out there. He's a photographer and he

1218. takes pictures of these at like as many

1219. walk-offs as he possibly can and he just

1220. gets them down the third baseline. Every

1221. game he basically sets up down the third

1222. baseline late in the game just hoping

  1223. that there'll be a walk-off because he

1224. wants to get these pictures. And when

1225. they asked him, "Hey, why do you do

  1226. this?" He said, "Because

1227. this is the picture of what I think

1228. heaven's going to be like when people

  1229. come into it.

1230. Man, there is a day that's coming that

1231. I'm going to be coming around like

  1232. number 13.

1233. And the guy that's sitting there with

1234. the red armbands is going to be my wife

1235. just waiting to enter me, waiting for me

1236. to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

1237. She's already there and she can't wait

1238. to have me come in there, too. But

1239. here's the thing. This can be a picture

1240. of what heaven's going to be like. But

1241. can I just tell you THAT WHEN WE START

1242. TO believe the teachings of Jesus that

1243. the kingdom of heaven isn't just meant

1244. for later on, but it's meant for us to

1245. bring to earth as it is in heaven. It

1246. means that every single time somebody

1247. says yes to Jesus, we get to do that

  1248. here on earth.

  1249. And there's a party that's going to

  1250. happen. There's a celebration when he

1251. gets home plate. They're all going to

1252. start to jump. They're all going to

1253. start to scream. Water's going to be

1254. thrown all over the place. AND IT'S

1255. GOING TO BE A MASSIVE CELEBRATION. AND

1256. HERE'S the thing, church. When we invite

1257. people into this, we allow them to get

1258. the atbat that could allow them to come

1259. around third base to enter into glory,

1260. not just for later, but for right now.

1261. We get to wear good news shoes.

1262. And so, church, I'm going to invite you

  1263. to stand right now.

1264. And I want to do two things.

1265. Number one, I want to pray a blessing

1266. over you. But before I pray that

1267. blessing over you, I don't want to

1268. assume that everyone in here has called

1269. on the name of Jesus.

1270. And maybe you're here for the very first

1271. time today. Or maybe you're hearing for

1272. the very first time the incredible gift

1273. that Jesus has given to you. Maybe

1274. you've been here for a little while and

  1275. you've been wrestling and today there's

1276. just something inside you that's like,

1277. man, I want to follow Jesus with my

  1278. life.

1279. Thank you for Thank you for for

  1280. preaching it.

1281. Thank you for Thank you for by the way,

1282. Pastor Ben, thank you for being sent to

1283. collective church today so that you

1284. could preach the gospel, so that I could

1285. hear it and so that I could believe it

1286. and so that I could call on the name of

  1287. Jesus and be saved.

1288. And so right now in this place, if

  1289. that's you, here's what I'm going to

  1290. invite you to do.

1291. I told I told the team earlier that I

1292. was like, man, I'm just going to have

1293. them raise their hand if that's them.

1294. But can I just say this? I believe that

1295. the word of God actually tells us that,

1296. man, if we acknowledge Jesus before man,

1297. he'll acknowledge us before the father.

1298. >> And so, if you're here today and you've

1299. never made the decision to follow Jesus,

1300. you've never called on his name to be

1301. saved, I'm going to invite you, the the

1302. worship team is just going to play here

1303. for the next couple of seconds. I'm

1304. going to invite you to come right down

1305. up front. And can I tell you, it's going

1306. to be like you coming around third base

1307. because this church is going to

1308. celebrate you. And so if that's you, I'm

1309. going to invite you to come right down

1310. here. I would love to pray with you. I'd

1311. love to lead you in calling on the name

  1312. of Jesus.

1313. >> Hey, thanks so much for watching today's

1314. message. Our prayer is more than the

1315. words that were spoken in the message

1316. that you would remember the things that

1317. God spoke to your heart.

1318. >> Yeah. And no matter what it was that God

1319. spoke to you, I know that part of your

1320. journey is other people being in a

1321. community because we are better

1322. together. So if you made a decision to

1323. follow Jesus today, would you click the

1324. link below and fill out the form? This

1325. is going to help us so that we can

1326. celebrate with you and equip you with

1327. some tools so that your next steps are

  1328. great steps.

1329. >> Yeah. Thanks so much for watching. We're

1330. praying for you. We're cheering you on.

1331. We believe that the best days are ahead

  1332. of you.
