  1. Do not believe the lie that you cannot hear his voice.

  2. Jesus said, my sheep, they hear my voice and the voice of a stranger, they will not follow.

  3. And if you have not sensed the leading and the guiding of the Lord,

  4. begin there the words of Jesus and begin saying Jesus' words out loud.

  5. Lord, I believe that you are a good shepherd.

  6. I am your sheep. I hear your voice.

  7. Welcome to the City Light Church podcast.

  8. Thanks for joining us today as we look into God's Word and discover the hope and truth that he has for us.

  11. Pastor Boyan Jansik and his team believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is already working in our hearts and minds.

  12. As you listen to today's teaching, remember that you are deeply loved by God,

  13. that you are surrounded by His grace, and that He has a real hope and a future for you.

  14. Why don't you just be seated for a moment?

  15. God bless Zellas City Lighters.

  16. Open and hungry City Lighters.

  17. I'm hungry for you.

  18. I'm famished for you.

  19. I'm hungry for your breakthrough.

  20. Hallelujah.

  21. And I'm not working that up if I could, because it's a delight to sense, because really when I say,

  22. I'm hungry for you, what I'm sensing is the Lord's desire for you.

  23. It's resting on me.

  24. I sense His desire to bless you, to come to you, to shake you out of a static place.

  25. Static place is a euphemism for pit of despair.

  26. Very boring, man-eventful place.

  27. I sense it.

  28. I feel like what Paul cried out in Romans 1, I longed to come to you, to impart unto you some

  29. spiritual gift he said to the Romans, along for the Holy Spirit who's moving in our midst of the

  30. common hall.

  31. And that's what he wants to do.

  32. It's not because I'm such a good pastor that I long.

  33. It's him.

  34. He longs for you.

  35. Hallelujah.

  36. Now, what a good song.

  37. That song, the lyrics of that song, would confound 80% of theologians who got their Ph.D.

  38. Because it talks about the goodness of God, and over and over again says God is good.

  39. To confound 80% of all theologians, just let them know that your core belief is that God is good,

  40. and the devil is bad.

  41. But wait, let me bring some nuance.

  42. Keep your nuance.

  43. And I'll stick to the word.

  44. Because the Bible says that Jesus Christ was made manifest to destroy the works of the devil.

  45. And you look at what the works of the devil are throughout the gospels, the Jesus destroyed.

  46. Everywhere there was sick people, he healed them.

  47. Where there was despair, he brought hope.

  48. Where there was poverty, he brought provision.

  49. Where there were broken hearts, he healed them.

  50. And then in case anybody was confused up until that point, then he said,

  51. the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, devil bad.

  52. I have come to give life, and that you would have it in abundance, God good.

  53. And still 2000 years later, eggheads come around, educated far beyond their intellect.

  54. And they want to mix the two.

  55. Because you know why that happens?

  56. People change their theology based on their experiences and what they're going through.

  57. How do I know?

  58. Because I know what the devil tried to do with me.

  59. Whenever I go through a pit, or a valley, or there's difference, you know, there's valleys.

  60. That's just a passing point between mountain tops.

  61. Then there's the pit, the pit's no joke.

  62. The pit's when you're tempted not to come to church, and you're tempted not to pray.

  63. And maybe you even stop and the pit is where you want to jump out of your own skin.

  64. I've been in the pit.

  65. And in the pit, God seems distant, he's not, but he seems that way.

  66. And then you're tempted to rework your theology.

  67. Well, the word of God is the word of God.

  68. And I'm not going to adjust biblical truth because I'm going through something.

  69. Never doubt in the darkness what God has spoken in the light.

  70. Hallelujah.

  71. I think this is just a shaking up service.

  72. For some of you, you still can't get past that I walk down the aisle,

  73. stinging in tongues.

  74. Why are you giving me...

  75. You know, God will offend your head to expose your heart.

  76. In fact, that's why Jesus ministered the way he ministered.

  77. You look at some of the miracles, he actually touched the guy's tongue.

  78. Like, why would he do that?

  79. I mean, if I did that, you could sue me.

  80. I pray for you, I just went, just, you don't know if he grabbed it.

  81. Maybe the guy was a mouth breather, and Jesus didn't have to do so much work.

  82. But he touched his tongue.

  83. Another guy, Jesus put Spital in his ears.

  84. Another guy, he put Spital in the clay and put the clay, Spital clay.

  85. Just saying, people don't like to talk about such things,

  86. but Jesus was a hundred percent man.

  87. On a hundred percent God, he was a man.

  88. I had a joke there, I'm not even going to go with my head.

  89. I'm already pushing some people too much.

  90. I'm just saying they didn't have Listerine back in those days.

  91. I smell religion.

  92. He would offend their heads to expose their hearts.

  93. Naman, the capture of the Syrian army, the general,

  94. it was covered in leprosy, came to Elijah.

  95. Elijah said, go dip in the Jordan River seven times.

  96. Naman flipped out.

  97. Jordan is muddy, nasty, ugly.

  98. Said, we have pristine clear waters back in Syria.

  99. And you're telling me to

  100. it offended his head, exposed his heart,

  101. and he humbled himself and went and dipped down in that Jordan River seven times the seven time.

  102. Bible says he came out.

  103. His skin was lily white.

  104. Smith Wiggles worked.

  105. He would punch people.

  106. I always wondered about that.

  107. I read all the books, the accounts,

  108. trying to figure.

  109. And then if you really figure out what he was doing,

  110. yes, it was prompted by the Holy Spirit.

  111. But you know, people get so bound up in their head

  112. and they have a preconceived, cemented idea of how God's going to do it.

  113. And there's such control freaks that they just,

  114. they need a good whack so he could sneak the anointing in.

  115. Because in that moment of, the preacher just hit me.

  116. God heals them.

  117. Get the past that.

  118. Hallelujah.

  119. You know what you preach about, you bring about.

  120. And I just preach about, I feel that anointing.

  121. Oh God's after you.

  122. He wants to bless you so.

  123. Hallelujah.

  124. Hallelujah.

  125. This journey is going to begin with a quality decision, as they say.

  126. A quality decision that the God is good.

  127. And the devil is bad.

  128. And the two won't meet.

  129. Amen.

  130. And that God is good to you.

  131. And that he wants to show himself strong on your behalf.

  132. And that he is the good shepherd.

  133. And he has promised to lead you and to guide you

  134. in all the affairs of life.

  135. That he would as the good shepherd take you by the hand

  136. and guide you.

  137. And go before you.

  138. Years ago I read a survey that was conducted nationally

  139. about what the number one question is that pastors guess.

  140. Excuse me, get the number one question pastors across the country.

  141. And that's how can I know the will of God.

  142. And there was a cry for the word of God.

  143. And rightly so because with the word of God you can do anything.

  144. I've often said that I can do anything with the word of God.

  145. If I have the word of God on the subject,

  146. the word of the Lord came and the word of the Lord for my life was pack your bags.

  147. They're going to live in a tent in the Amazon river in the forest.

  148. I need two or three solid confirmations of that word.

  149. Confirmed by my Presbyteria as well and the closest around me.

  150. But if it came, I'd be like, yeah, game on.

  151. Because if the word of is there, I have a foundation.

  152. I can do anything with the word of God.

  153. Peter when he saw Jesus walking on the water, Peter wanted to walk on water.

  154. You know what he said to Jesus?

  155. Master, bid me to come, give me the word and I will join you.

  156. So Jesus gave him one word, come, come.

  157. And Peter didn't really walk on the water, he walked on the word.

  158. One word, come, join me.

  159. And as long as his eyes were on Jesus,

  160. stayed on top.

  161. When he looked at the wind, the boisterous began to sink.

  162. But gentle Jesus helped him.

  163. And so I can do anything with the word from heaven.

  164. We should be hungry for a word from heaven.

  165. And you see that particularly in charismatic circles.

  166. Whenever there's a prophetic voice, every seed is full.

  167. Everybody wants the word.

  168. But the reality is, and while I love the gifts of the Holy Spirit,

  169. and a dear friend of mine is David Wagner and he'll be joining us in the fall.

  170. A prophet of the Lord.

  171. But the reality is, is that the Lord has promised to lead you to guide you in all the affairs of life.

  172. And his counsel, it shouldn't be strange to you.

  173. Do not believe the lie that you cannot hear his voice.

  174. Jesus said, my sheep, they hear my voice.

  175. And the voice of a stranger, they will not follow.

  176. And if you have not sensed the leading and the guiding of the Lord,

  177. begin there, the words of Jesus.

  178. And begin saying, Jesus' words out loud, Lord, I believe,

  179. that you are a good shepherd, I am your sheep, I hear your voice.

  180. Hallelujah.

  181. You know, my problem, the first few years I was a Christian, was,

  182. Christians were flaky in describing how they heard from God.

  183. So I was expecting something spectacular,

  184. like an audible voice,

  185. like a charcoal in the hesson on top of Mount Sinai.

  186. This is God.

  187. And it never came.

  188. And I kept trying to hear God with these floppy things on the side of my head.

  189. When he talks to your spirit, he is the Holy Spirit.

  190. He talks to your spirits.

  191. You have a soul, but you are a spirit.

  192. You have a soul, Greek, suitcase, where we get psyche from.

  193. Mind.

  194. Your mind is a cocktail with a lot of ingredients.

  195. Your past experiences, current biases, your fears, your hopes, your dreams.

  196. You see the whole world through a filter of your psyche.

  197. But your spirit man has been born again into the image of Jesus.

  198. And your spirit is the real you.

  199. And he is not the Holy Brain who's going to talk to your brain.

  200. He is the Holy Spirit who's going to talk to your spirit.

  201. And it took a good four years from 92 to 96.

  202. The summer of 96 was when it crystallized for me.

  203. That he will talk to me in my spirit through the still small voice, the inward witness.

  204. Yes, there's all these other ways, just like over 25 ways,

  205. just in the book of Acts that God speaks to His people.

  206. But I've heard men of God who have shaken nation say the primary way,

  207. over 95% of the time, the way he speaks to me is that still small voice in my spirit.

  208. The red light, green light, the room and the thumb that he's put inside of me.

  209. You know, those are actual stones back in Old Testament that the High Priest had.

  210. They would light up different colors.

  211. When it says that David inquired of the Lord,

  212. oftentimes you'll see they bring out the stones, they were in the thumb and they would light

  213. up different colors to show the will of God.

  214. Everything in the Old Testament is physical.

  215. We have the spiritual and the Old Testament is outward and the new is inward.

  216. What was that?

  217. It was forecasting the primary way that the Lord would deal with His people.

  218. You don't now come into city light and say where the stone's at.

  219. Because He's put His Holy Spirit inside of you.

  220. He'll guide you from the inside out.

  221. Paul and Roman said, as many as are led by the Spirit of God,

  222. these are the children of God.

  223. So one of the keys in this year Christian life is learning how to live out of your spirit,

  224. living out of your spirit man.

  225. Being, as the old-timers used to say, belly led.

  226. I feel like I'm an object lesson as I preach that truth.

  227. You agreed way too loud.

  228. Being belly led.

  229. You're inner man.

  230. You're spirit man.

  231. That's where the good stuff is.

  232. Hallelujah.

  233. Man, I'm happy this morning.

  234. The Lord is up to something.

  235. What was the last time you saw me like this?

  236. You were just saying that?

  237. I mean, if I could do this whenever I wanted, I'd hit that button every Sunday.

  238. I love this.

  239. I can't.

  240. The Lord is.

  241. Something's cooking and we're going to.

  242. My job is to figure out what is the up to and ignite that thing.

  243. Well, Lord, but what I sense is the movement.

  244. You know, I hear the word of the Lord.

  245. Out of the book of Job, when he said to Satan,

  246. there was a line drawn and he said,

  247. this far and no further.

  248. Hallelujah.

  249. This far and no further.

  250. Hallelujah.

  251. He's good.

  252. He's good.

  253. So, I want to show you one of my favorite.

  254. Did I do that already?

  255. Let's show that we should have quoted a lot of scriptures,

  256. but I want you to see those of you who are guests.

  257. I'm not just making it up.

  258. Let's put that scripture on the screen.

  259. Hallelujah.

  260. We had this video of the picnic to show you.

  261. And you're going to have to go on our social media now to see it.

  262. Trust.

  263. No, not that one.

  264. Although that's a great verse.

  265. The first verse I sent.

  266. Take me back to the beginning.

  267. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.

  268. I will guide you with my eye.

  269. If you resonated when I said that the number one question pastors get is,

  270. how can I know the will of God?

  271. You need to memorize this verse.

  272. Say it out loud.

  273. No matter what you feel like.

  274. Say it.

  275. Believe it.

  276. Confess it.

  277. Make this part of your identity that the Lord is good.

  278. And that he promised in his word.

  279. Does this seem like a distant far off God?

  280. This is a close loving intimate God.

  281. This is dad.

  282. This is something I will instruct you.

  283. I love you.

  284. I will teach you in the way you should go.

  285. I'm going to guide you with my eye.

  286. Let's look at it in the NIV.

  287. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.

  288. I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

  289. Hallelujah.

  290. Something that's happening in this service is that

  291. many of you you're hearing from the Lord.

  292. Others you've come in with a lot of spiritual ear wax.

  293. And the Lord has taken a divine Q-tip to you.

  294. A lot, a lot of shoveling out.

  295. It's all right.

  296. He doesn't mind.

  297. He's still loving.

  298. And just causing you to hear once again.

  299. Some of you are going to hear for the first time.

  300. He's talking to you about you.

  301. Your favorite subject.

  302. Hey.

  303. Talking to you about your life.

  304. Talking to you about what's up ahead?

  305. How many of you would say I feel like the Lord has been speaking to me since I came

  306. in this place?

  307. Let me see your hand.

  308. Look, that's what the Lord is doing.

  309. When the Word of the Lord came to Zachariah,

  310. that's Elizabeth's husband, Elizabeth the cousin of Mary.

  311. He said, with God nothing shall be impossible,

  312. which is the great verse.

  313. But it's even greater when you break it down and understand that when he said with God no

  314. thing shall be impossible, what he was saying was before with God no word that he speaks will

  315. be impossible for him to perform.

  316. Do you know why?

  317. Because the Hebrew word for word is the same word for thing.

  318. Because the Hebrew is understood that words create things.

  319. That God created this universe with the words of his mouth.

  320. In fact, what is that?

  321. Luke 117, that's a good guess.

  322. 138.

  323. I want you to see it.

  324. Worship, look at that.

  325. Lord, they have all forsaken me.

  326. None is left.

  327. Worship team sends you text messages out, use the bathroom, get some water.

  328. The party's continuing.

  329. I love the worship team.

  330. Love them.

  331. This church wouldn't be what it is without them.

  332. But I got to know how many jobs do they have?

  333. They are, I mean, the level of text they send.

  334. What?

  335. No, hey, not just start, look at them.

  336. Hey, guys, I love you, but it is, it is a meme around the whole country, you know.

  337. He's got it.

  338. We got a stereotype as pastors.

  339. Anyone in the worship team?

  340. It's your normal SMS level timestamp.

  341. What's going on?

  342. I don't know.

  343. I'm not on the worship team, but something,

  344. something is happening there.

  345. Hey, those are my second guests.

  346. Didn't I?

  347. 117?

  348. I said 138ish, right?

  349. Look at that.

  350. Because that's a good verse, but not the one I'm talking about.

  351. Great verse.

  352. No, this is Zachariah and the angel.

  353. All right, you're going to have to take my word for it.

  354. And those of you who are guests come back next Sunday, I'm going to have a sermon so polished.

  355. We're going to have every second of the service programmed.

  356. It's going to be, it's going to go right to schedule.

  357. It'll be very comfortable and you'll feel safe.

  358. Why don't you just begin in Genesis and we'll all go through it.

  359. You know, Hester and I are very, very close.

  360. No, we really are.

  361. Hester and I go back from the beginning.

  362. And she's really a friend of our family and I'm so blessed by her number one

  363. that she can handle me and then we've continued to stay close with her

  364. in media.

  365. There's a very, very tender forgiving heart.

  366. You know, back in my day, the preacher, as the Lord spoke to him, he would have to find the

  367. verse and there was so much quiet time in the church.

  368. Do any of you remember those days?

  369. And you go, okay, and then you would have to thumb through and like three minutes will go by

  370. and nobody would mind.

  371. But now if there's any law in a service, like, you know, we typically have the verses,

  372. we can condense so much material in 35 minutes.

  373. Well, that's nice, but what's missing sometimes is the law.

  374. That's why I don't mind the law right now.

  375. I believe the law is actually what the Lord is after.

  376. He's after, he's after meeting with you.

  377. It also separates people who aren't hungry from those who are.

  378. You know, they ask Jesus, why do you talk in parables?

  379. You know what Jesus said?

  380. So seeing them may not see and hearing them may not hear.

  381. Jesus actually say I speak in stories that are kind of like riddles and the

  382. heart to understand so that those who are lucky lose and just kind of hanging out on the outskirts

  383. that they wouldn't get what I'm saying.

  384. I'm making it hard on purpose so the hungry and thirsty who dig for it,

  385. it's not hidden from them, but it's hidden for them.

  386. And so a service like this that really divides the ones who have faith and who are hungry

  387. and those who just are like,

  388. I'm letting you know what's happening here.

  389. Hallelujah.

  390. I need spectacles for the full effect.

  391. I just want to know if you have one, is the answer yes, is he nodding?

  392. I forgot my in-ear, what's the answer?

  393. He has one, okay.

  394. You know, I could have googled it by now.

  395. That's also a good verse, but not the one I was looking for.

  396. For with God, nothing shall be impossible.

  397. I mean, it's, it's, it's, we're, look why?

  398. 137, what did I say before?

  399. Because you know why?

  400. Because it was with Mary, not with Zechariah, like Mauricio said, like Matt.

  401. I'm just, I'm just imitating modern media.

  402. I'm just imitating the gaslighting and scapegoating and brazen lying of modern media.

  403. Because it wasn't, Mauricio, and not me.

  404. If you hear that lie four more times, you'll actually believe what I'm saying.

  405. For with God, nothing will be impossible.

  406. For with God, no thing, for with God, no, the word there is Rema.

  407. Rema, for with God, no spoken word, for with God, no promise that he speaks to you,

  408. will be impossible for him to perform.

  409. Now, God, in order to produce fruit in your life, has to, don't wince,

  410. has to impregnate you with the seed of his word.

  411. That's how you become fruitful.

  412. He whispers a promise to you in your spirit, and you have a choice to make.

  413. You can believe it, and then that spirit will come into that seed, excuse me,

  414. will come into good soil and produce fruit, or you can doubt and not believe it in which case

  415. you perform a spiritual abortion.

  416. And he's trying to impregnate you with his word with a promise to produce great fruit in your

  417. life, and you go, oh, how can these things be? I don't know, Lord, would you, could you really,

  418. are you really that good? Would you really do that in my life? And you, you terminate the pregnancy.

  419. Be believing, be not unbelieving.

  420. So he's going to speak to people, let them speak to you about your current situation,

  421. let them speak to you about what he's doing in your life, let him speak to you about whatever

  422. he wants, but just to receive that word and let it hit the soil of your hearts

  423. and pour some faith on it. And say, Lord, I don't know how these things will be, but I believe.

  426. give birth to God incarnate? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. For with God, no thing, no word that he says that

  429. Say this, dear Lord Jesus, I know that you love me. I believe you went to the cross.

  431. I am forgiven. I'm a child of God. You have good plans for me. I give you my life. I surrender to

  432. your Lordship. Show your goodness to me. Whatever you want to do, do it in my life.

  433. Now put your eyes on Jesus and the worship team is going to sing and they're going to play.

  434. You can sing along if you want, but I encourage you to open up your heart and let him speak to you.

  435. Let him plant the seed of his promise.

  436. Hallelujah.

  437. We pray that you have been encouraged today. That you have been reminded how much God loves you
