  1. Jesus had a touchy ministry.

  2. He touched people everywhere.

  3. The anointing flows through touch.

  4. It can come other ways, but one of the ways, a frequently used way, is touch, is through

  5. the laying out of hand.

  6. Come and lay your hands on her that she may be healed and she will live.

  7. Welcome to the CityLight Church Podcast.

  8. Thanks for joining us today, as we look into God's Word and discover the hope and truth

  9. that He has for us.

  10. If you want to connect with CityLight Church, feel free to visit us at citylightnyc.com,

  12. Pastor Boyan Jansik and his team believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is already

  13. working in our hearts and minds.

  14. As you listen to today's teaching, remember that you are deeply loved by God, that you

  15. are surrounded by His grace, and that He has a real hope and a future for you.

  16. Welcome to CityLight Church.

  17. My name is Bo.

  18. No knows Jesus.

  19. My name is Bo Jansik.

  20. And those of you joining us online, welcome.

  21. We got an amazing picnic yesterday.

  22. We're just so awesome.

  23. Pastor Moor, community pastor, the whole team was involved, but he spearheaded that.

  24. What a phenomenal job.

  25. Class, all the way.

  26. I mean, it really felt like being in a sanctified amusement park.

  27. An ice cream truck in New York City without prices.

  28. Remind me of that scripture, who so ever will come drink of this water.

  29. Who so ever will come partake of the softie.

  30. Cree to all.

  31. So we're in the middle of this series that kind of just happened.

  32. I didn't know I was going to do a series until I just sensed the Lord wanting to take

  33. us on a journey and get some of you opened up to His hand moving in your life.

  34. And so the first message was just called the anointed and His anointing.

  35. And then when I didn't know what the Lord would be doing in the second service, I just

  36. said, call it part two.

  37. And so this is now part three.

  38. It was a phenomenal man of God.

  39. And he said, I have really one message with 50 different titles.

  40. And I thought, you know, it's kind of true, but the Lord wants to bless you.

  41. He wants to heal you.

  42. He wants to love on you.

  43. And what is crucial in getting to that place of receiving?

  44. Because that's really what it is, you have to get to the place of receiving.

  45. God has no trouble giving.

  46. He is a giver.

  47. Giving is His very nature.

  48. He doesn't have to kind of get in the mood to give.

  49. He's a giver.

  50. He's a blesser.

  51. And so we need to be able to slip into a place where we can receive.

  52. And that's really where the trouble starts because a lot of us are not good receivers.

  53. We get encumbered with the things of the world, doubt, and belief, and cynicism come in.

  54. Or we just get stuck in a rut.

  55. You know what getting stuck in a rut is that you're just used to the same thing and then

  56. you don't expect anything different.

  57. You're just, you're a dead fish floating downstream, you're caught in the humdrum of life.

  58. And then it crushes your hope and your expectancy.

  59. And so then it's just your prayer becomes, oh Lord, help me make you through another

  60. day.

  61. God forbid that ever be your song and your prayer.

  62. Prayed once in a while, like once a year is enough for me.

  63. But I don't want weeks where my prayer is, oh Lord, help me make you through the day.

  64. No, I want you to ride high in Jesus, that's what He wants for you.

  65. And so the Lord is just coming to us and what is crucial for us to become good receivers

  66. is an understanding of how God gives and how God gives is in and through His anointing.

  67. And isn't it amazing that although Jesus's title is Jesus the Christ, Jesus the anointed

  68. that the church as a whole really doesn't have an understanding of any kind concerning

  69. the anointing?

  70. There's pockets, but as a whole when you go up to your average Christian and say, tell

  71. me about the anointing, you're just good.

  72. Well, you know, it's the anointing, it's, you know, no, I don't know, tell me.

  73. Well, Bertoli, no, Bertoli's an olive oil brand.

  74. But we should know, we should be intimately acquainted with the anointing because that's

  75. how Jesus ministered.

  76. That's how He got people to break through, that's how He healed their bodies, that's

  77. how He visited people.

  78. What is the anointing?

  79. Most people don't know the definition or even how to describe it.

  80. The anointing simply is the manifest presence of God.

  81. It's God's presence active doing something in the moment because there isn't omnipresence

  82. of God.

  83. He's everywhere, but He's not everywhere in the same way.

  84. He was everywhere in the desert when Moses was walking, but His anointing was in the

  85. burning bush.

  86. He was, the presence was everywhere in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, but the anointing

  87. was in the upper room.

  88. His anointing is here, but what's required is a hungry and thirsty heart with faith

  89. who will pull on it and receive it, and that's what brings transformation and life change.

  90. Amen.

  91. And God has something up his sleeve for city like church.

  92. I'm telling you.

  93. I feel it, myself, are pulsating, He's going to give us a surprise.

  94. And what is necessary is there, there be a large number of people, everyone, everyone's

  95. a good number, but call it critical mass, a large number of people.

  96. I like everyone, but there's always new people, there's always going to be works in progress

  97. sitting in the corners or whatever.

  98. You're welcome.

  99. That's awesome.

  100. The majority, you know, to have an understanding of the anointing.

  101. Note that Jesus, this is how important the anointing is, that that's Jesus's title,

  102. and so many people think it's His last name.

  103. Christ is not Jesus's last name, that's His title, Jesus, the anointed one, and His anointing.

  104. Did you ever think about that?

  105. I don't know if that blows your mind, the way it blows mine.

  106. But if that's His name, that means we should know something about the anointing.

  107. Yet on average, most Christians don't.

  108. That's a hole in our understand, very foundational thing that we should be aware of.

  109. There's a hole there.

  110. And that Jesus didn't do anything apart from the anointing after He was anointed.

  111. Before He was anointed at His baptism, He didn't do any miracles.

  112. I remember going to Ethiopia to visit our orphanage there, the Grace Center, and they took

  113. me around to some old churches, and there was a 600-year-old, they had very old Orthodox

  114. churches there, and they were old drawings, not even paintings, but like carved in the

  115. sides of the wall of like a 12-year-old Jesus, and there were these shards of clay, and

  116. they showed Him coming up and touching the shards of clay, and they would fly up as doves.

  117. Pretty carving, not scriptural.

  118. He didn't do that.

  119. Why didn't He do that?

  120. Because He wasn't anointed yet.

  121. He was anointed when He was 30 at His baptism.

  122. It's a mystery here.

  123. Jesus is a hundred percent God.

  124. He was a hundred percent man, but He laid His power down when He came to earth.

  125. He was still divine.

  126. He was still God, it's a mystery, but He laid it down until He got anointed, and the Bible

  127. says He got poured out His Spirit and without measure upon Him.

  128. You know what can throw some people off, that He was, you know, when He got lost, He

  129. was 12 years old, well, He didn't get lost, He just, He was a precocious child.

  130. And it says that He was talking to the doctors of the law and confounding them with His questions,

  131. and some people think, well, that was God in the flesh.

  132. I'm mission, all knowing, and that He was really just puzzling the Pharisees then and

  133. the doctors of the law with His understanding of the Torah.

  134. But the Scripture doesn't say that.

  135. He did that as a man.

  136. Now granted, He was born without sin.

  137. So He had a soul and a mind that was not stained by sin.

  138. So what does that look like?

  139. We don't know, because all of ours is stained by sin.

  140. And that means that as a 12 year old, He would have had a pure and deep and really profound

  141. understanding of the Scriptures, but it doesn't mean He did it supernaturally.

  142. Are you following me here?

  143. But after His baptism, the Bible says He came up out of the water.

  144. The Holy Spirit came upon Him.

  145. He was anointed, and that began the miracle ministry of Jesus.

  146. What was the necessary ingredient, the anointing?

  147. And when He was anointed, then He healed them every one.

  148. Then His first miracle, the wedding feast, in Cane of Galilee.

  149. By the way, a miracle of provision, the very first miracle of Jesus is the miracle of

  150. provision.

  151. That's a wink from heaven, where God is just saying, I have all of your needs in mind.

  152. And it's nothing for me to provide for you, even when it was extra wine at a wedding.

  153. It doesn't really seem like a need, it seems like a want.

  154. You're following me?

  155. They would have been okay without extra wine.

  156. They would have made it.

  157. We're still been married.

  158. The guests would have still been happy.

  159. But He said, oh, you need wine, huh?

  160. Get a bunch of jugs, each one with a capacity of 20 to 30 gallons, six of them.

  161. Send it, we're from 150 to 180 gallons of water that He turned into.

  162. That's a lot of vino.

  163. What's the Lord saying?

  164. Lord is saying, I'm opulence, and I care about your needs, and I will meet them.

  165. And I will meet them by my anointing.

  166. Look at Acts 1038, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power

  167. who went about doing good.

  168. If you're expecting bad from God, or if you're describing something bad that happened to

  169. you too, God, please go back to the drawing board.

  170. I say that with love in my heart.

  171. Go back to the drawing board and rework some things, because Jesus went about doing good.

  172. Deep thoughts today, God good, devil bad, amen.

  173. And Jesus, He moved in the anointing and He went about doing good and healing, all who

  174. are oppressed.

  175. Not possessed here, He did that too.

  176. Not really demonic possession, that's rare.

  177. That's not...

  178. Well, it's a lot more common than we may think, but you know, it's not every third person.

  179. It's not walking around, cutting themselves with stones.

  180. Most people who think they're possessed, they're really oppressed.

  181. What's possessed is the thing is in you, and you're spirit.

  182. By the way, Christian has the Holy Spirit in their spirit.

  183. They cannot then have a demon in their spirit.

  184. But you can't have people who are oppressed.

  185. That's from the outside in.

  186. You never get one...

  187. You know what we have?

  188. A gravity blanket.

  189. You ever...

  190. Anybody ever get the gravity blanket?

  191. My wife loved it.

  192. For me, it was too oppressive.

  193. I want the goose down, the fluffy Siberian goose.

  194. Oppression is like a gravity.

  195. It's a weighted blanket.

  196. The blanket weighs like 60 pounds.

  197. It's supposed to knock you out.

  198. You go to sleep.

  199. It's like, of course, you're going to fall asleep, it's like a dude sitting on top of

  200. you.

  201. That's what oppression isn't.

  202. People walk around and they're oppressed.

  203. You can be oppressed physically, oppressed mentally, it's just a weight that's on you.

  204. Jesus went about doing good.

  205. And by the anointing, healing all who were oppressed of the devil.

  206. Hallelujah.

  207. The anointing is tangible.

  208. It can be felt.

  209. Isn't it an utter shame that in America, this mystical faith called Christianity has

  210. been so just front-lobe-inized, made into this bookish thing where people can know all

  211. about God but never truly meet God?

  212. You can describe God, you can know God but never truly encounter Him and experience His

  213. anointing.

  214. You are called Christians.

  215. What does that mean?

  216. That means little Christ, little anointed ones.

  217. How can you have a little anointed one who doesn't know the anointing of the bigly anointed

  218. one?

  219. And yes, he was bigly anointed.

  220. Without measure and he pours out that anointing on us and we're little Christ and so we should

  221. be intimately acquainted with and familiar with the moving of the Holy Spirit and the

  222. anointing.

  223. The old preachers, they would say, a lot of churches today, the Holy Spirit could walk

  224. in with a 10-gallon hat and two six guns at his side and they wouldn't recognize him.

  225. Little is lost in translation saying it in 2023 in New York City but the gist of it.

  226. How do we be Christians and not know the Holy Spirit?

  227. The Lord is wanting to reveal that and in a deeper way to us.

  228. I want to just ask some people who haven't been prepared so don't look at me bug-eyed.

  229. Just come up.

  230. I want you to share on how you have encountered the anointing and the love of God and what

  231. it's done for you.

  232. Amen.

  233. Luke, could you share?

  234. Share a story.

  235. Luke come here.

  236. Tell us a story.

  237. I'll help you.

  238. I'll help you.

  239. Tell us a story about how the Lord came to you with his anointing and his love.

  240. So in February 2021, I started reading the book of Acts and I've been grew up in a church

  241. but not a Holy Spirit type of church and so when I started reading it, I don't know why

  242. this happened when it did or how but I started feeling a little bit of warm in my chest.

  243. The book of Luke talks about the road to a mass and the disciples said, we're not our

  244. hearts burning within us but growing up when I heard Bible stories or read the Bible,

  245. I just kind of, because the atmosphere that I was around, they always assumed that

  246. those things were kind of more figurative and not a literal experience but I started

  247. having this literal experience where my heart was burning within me but I wasn't sure

  248. if it was something I ate or if it was what I was reading.

  249. So I was testing it out so I was reading a little bit and it would start and then I would

  250. stop and then it would go away and one day it didn't really happen but I just stayed

  251. there for like an hour and a half and then it started happening again.

  252. So I was like, I think this is God and I read through the whole New Testament having

  253. this experience and then by the time I got back to the gospel, so even though I had read

  254. it my whole life, it was like I had never read it before and I could just hear him saying

  255. it to me, you know.

  256. So when I read, behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, it was him

  257. and he was there and he was saying it to me like never before and then you know I had

  258. all these things in my life that I just thought were like parts of my personality that I struggled

  259. with you know and I didn't realize that it wasn't actually me.

  260. I just thought that was me.

  261. I have problems with this, this and this and I'm doing my best but you know I guess you

  262. know this is what it's going to be like, this is what life is like for me and I tried

  263. to change those things about myself but it just it never I wasn't able to you know

  264. and I wasn't thinking about it but then this whole thing happened and then I one day I just

  265. realized you don't have had these thoughts I haven't all these things that I thought were part

  266. of my personality were just immediately supernaturally gone you know and I was the new person

  267. and it happened without me trying or without me doing anything and that was just beginning

  268. and I you know I couldn't even recognize myself for I don't I literally don't identify

  269. with the person that I was two years two and a half years ago like in any way like it wasn't me you

  270. know and yeah that's not it yeah in Jesus name continue the work tenfold

  271. filled filled filled up to the burn with the richness of him hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah

  272. hallelujah okay come on up here Marisa with your helper so by the way when God comes to you with

  273. his anointing it's really hard to look cool so don't try are you all there it's if you feel

  274. like you're gonna look dignified Lord I want you I'm so hungry I'm so thirsty I'm so desperate

  275. but can you touch me in a way where if someone takes a photo on me it's Instagramable please no it's

  276. gonna be messy you will that's part of the deal you your dignity goes out the window that's why

  277. that Syrian commander who was told to dip in the Jordan seven times his pride came up he didn't

  278. want to so they have crystal clear rivers in Syria but the Jordan is filthy why should I to humble

  279. yourself amen and God will come upon you and he won't allow you to dictate how he comes to you he

  280. just wants he's not gonna dance for you you're gonna dance for him that's how it works amen and you

  281. have to enter in through the door of humility and if you're so proud and the door of trust in that

  282. you have to let go you can't say Lord I will let you touch me but I will never ever cry I will never

  283. ever laugh I'm never gonna shake Lord I'm gonna be touched quietly and secretively you do not

  284. he doesn't come to you with a menu this isn't burgging your way right away how you like no you

  285. come hungry and you take what he gives you like what the sack of coach tells our kids you get what

  286. you get and you don't get upset amen hallelujah so just share it's like being touched by the

  287. anointing what is it like so this past July I attended a few conferences and Christian conferences

  288. both for music ministry and just another one in Tampa that was on the fire of God and I had

  289. walked into the first conference with expectation but almost a fear of not being able to receive

  290. everything that God had for me but really through that experience in those two weeks God

  291. showing me so much about surrender how important it is to surrender and it was when one of the

  292. preachers said would you be okay and this was a revelation that the Holy Spirit had given her

  293. but he dealt with the same thing in those two weeks for me the Holy Spirit had asked her if you

  294. were to lose it all if you were to lose your dream of worship leading of marriage of having a

  295. family of pasturing a church of everything all these desires that I put in your heart that are

  296. so precious to you would you be okay knowing that I am your provider knowing that I

  297. that that I have you in the palm of my hands that you could lose everything in the world be okay

  298. because you have me and it was when I said yes God and when I when I truly surrendered because

  299. I've been saved I've been saved since I was a little girl since elementary school but it was

  300. this was a new point for me it was when I truly surrendered everything to the Lord when I said

  301. Lord you can have my life you can have it all or take it all and use it all for your glory that

  302. was that was the opening door for me to receive because he wants everything he wants us to give

  303. all the glory back to him every single thing the good the bad all our hurt all our joy everything is

  304. his this life is his our lives are his he wants us to just give it all to him and it was when I

  305. said yes Lord that he just the fire of God hit me and his anointing his manifest presence

  306. becomes so so so tangible even right now and it's for you too

  307. Jesus continue cooking her

  308. oh

  309. that's a good word surrender we're learning so much this morning you pass you yourself to receive

  310. there's the door of humility you gotta walk through that door and then the door of surrendering

  311. you have to and here's the thing with surrendering I don't know if you've seen videos of what happens

  312. when you surrender a little I'm just saying cops don't like when you surrender a little

  313. what

  314. the Lord doesn't like when you surrender a little either

  315. focus some people surrender a little and they think they're doing God a favor

  316. God I'm gonna give you 55% the majority who lasts of the big time surrenders

  317. but the Lord's like 99 and a half won't do

  318. I want a hundred percent you will be frustrated if you surrender a little

  319. total surrender hallelujah that opens the door for him to do extraordinary things in your life

  320. hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah

  321. can you share something the little yeah come on up

  322. come on up just but share about the anointing

  323. share about the anointing and the Lord coming to you with his anointing what's that like

  324. yeah there was one specific time where I was in a small um I was in Colorado with a few with like

  325. about 10 to 15 other Christians and I was you were put in a place so just we were led to just stand

  326. there and just receive the presence of God and I never taken the time to do that before and so I

  327. just stood there and I was very like you know skeptic and kind of like like what what is this what's

  328. gonna happen like I just feel so awkward standing here and so I just close my eyes and I stood there

  329. for like a good 10 minutes and I I saw I saw just Jesus and like the embodiment of his love just

  330. standing in front of me and I just felt this like this way just drop on me and I like I just started

  331. weeping and I never cried like that before like for the next two weeks I just felt like I just

  332. experienced you know just the weight of his love and his anointing on me and it was just

  333. it was just such like a it's tangible feeling and I'd never felt anything like that before and I

  334. just I never experienced such a love from the father in that way and it was

  335. Lord get it on the people

  336. Jesus

  337. bless this is a great time for a cover girl to come

  338. oh there was one hiding in the shadows

  339. was

  340. be blessed

  341. be blessed

  342. hallelujah

  343. hallelujah

  344. Jesus

  345. Jesus

  346. mmm

  347. beautiful Jesus you say what is the Lord doing good things whatever he wants

  348. but I specifically hear him my heart he he is going ahead of you forging a path for you

  349. carving

  350. a

  351. carving a path for you

  352. hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah

  353. just lift your hands just say Lord Jesus come to me

  354. fill me with your holy spirit

  355. hallelujah continue to say the name of Jesus hallelujah hallelujah

  356. you madam can you come out here real quick

  357. the Lord's been falling on you the whole service Lord that which you began in her I thank you you will

  358. complete it increase blessing

  359. be blessed in Jesus name and we cancel the plans of the enemy over your life put the blood on you

  360. put the blood of Jesus on you just put your hands on your tummy right now that's it unplugged

  361. I said unplugged in Jesus name free you're doing just fine just keep drinking more drinking less

  362. think he always the way to go you're doing just fine

  363. be blessed let's think that song Jesus hallelujah hallelujah

  364. Jesus is a heart doctor

  365. and for a lot of us the problem is it's it's inward

  366. in fact when Jesus described his ministry reading from Isaiah 61 which was prophesying of him

  367. it's the spirit of the Lord God is upon me to set at liberty those who are held captive to heal the

  368. broken hearted do you know who the enemy is I mean there is an enemy there is a Satan but really

  369. we're not in competition with everybody except the person in the mirror that stares his back every

  370. morning that's who if you think you got enemies that work maybe probably not you're the one

  371. your your own biggest competition and the reason why we get in the way so much is we can easily

  372. become people who oppose themselves the scriptures talk about people who oppose themselves

  373. constantly tripping themselves up people who oppose themselves it's like taking a juggle water to

  374. a fountain filling it up I mean freaking it with holes and by the time they get back to where

  375. they came from there's no water in the jug and they're like oh but you did that oh yeah I did

  376. that's a lot of us why are we still messed up because there's a lot of junk on the inside that

  377. we picked up on the highway of life that the Lord wants to come in and heal and his sweet spirit his

  378. love will go where no therapist can go no psychiatrists can go no drug can go he will go in the

  379. and he will rework your heart he will rework your inside heal you up I heard the testimony

  380. of a woman who was raped years before and came under the anointing she stayed there for hours

  381. manifesting for hours laughing she said I felt like it was a crew of firemen

  382. dousing me with water and washing all the muck and the dirt and the shame and the guilt away

  383. and when I got back up I was a new person I think Jesus is anointing can do that she said then

  384. it was like a distant memory it was like I read about it in a book about somebody else

  385. the anointing will set you free you just subscribe to that motivational guru slash life coach

  386. slash entrepreneur ten sessions gonna help you out you're still a person who opposes himself

  387. or herself the Lord's gotta come in and unlock you and he does that by his anointing hallelujah

  388. let's read mark five shall we are you all all right some people sometimes they slip they slip

  389. into this weird defensive mode when a service doesn't go as as they think it should or as usual

  390. relax you're in a good place happy place

  391. you know the day after the great the big picnic is always a little different

  392. right we had all of our core city lighters all of them put in a 12 hour day and then they were like

  393. Jesus you know I love you but I shared I shared the word yesterday and I fellowship yesterday

  394. and I had quite an Ian community yesterday you don't mind if I don't it's like no I don't mind so

  395. what that happens is then shifts the atmosphere in the place

  396. because then you have too many lucky lose and not the core people who can slide into the river

  397. and the Lord doesn't mind lucky lose but they take time to take hours really not hours

  398. that's why you then have a series of meetings days of the Lord chipping away at all of their

  399. preconceived ideas and notions and their bad theology and their understanding of the very person

  400. of God over days and then they can slip into the river of God one service that just just kind of

  401. provokes them so I'm delighted to do that today

  402. Mark chapter five I want to still talk about the anointed one the Christ at least we'll have some

  403. understanding now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side a great multitude

  404. gathered to him and he was by the sea you know why Jesus often spoke by the sea and you'll hear

  405. all throughout the scriptures he spoke by the lake of Ganesirate or the sea of Galilee

  406. sea of Galilee is actually a large large lake both terms are used in the Bible you know why

  407. because he didn't have one of these and so he would stand with his back to the sea and the wind

  408. current coming off the sea would carry his words onto the multitudes and behold one of the rulers

  409. of the synagogue came gyros by name and when he saw him he fell at his feet

  410. and begged him earnestly saying my little daughter lies at the point of death come and lay your hands

  411. on her why did he ask Jesus to lay his hands lay his hands I was like two years saved and then I

  412. was a freshman in college two years saved and somebody on my floor had asked what I was doing I said

  413. I'm going to church what kind of churches that I tried to told them and then they said do they do

  414. the laying out of hands there and their face was like like in a grimace and I was and I was my first

  415. I realized oh somehow because of 3 a.m. televangelists and the media and Hollywood movies the

  416. laying out of hands had such a bad rap but it's actually holy it's beautiful it's biblical

  417. there was gyros a ruler of the Jews he knew the Torah he knew that the laying out of hands was

  418. powerful that there is a transference through the laying out of hands he read in the book of Joshua

  419. how it said the Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom why for Moses had laid hands on him and

  420. there was a transfer even the entire sacrificial system that pointed to the Messiah to Jesus was set

  421. around the laying out of hands where the sin of the nation would be transferred the laying out

  422. of hands is biblical the laying out of hands is powerful the laying out of hands got can use to

  423. transform your life there is an impartation there is a transference even at Jesus's resurrection

  424. before he went up to present his blood to the father Mary was excited and Jesus step back and

  425. said touch me not for I've not yet ascended why we don't really know but there would have been

  426. some kind of transference which was not lawful for her to have at the time

  427. Jesus had a touchy ministry he touched people everywhere the anointing flows through touch

  428. it can come other ways but one of the ways a frequently used way is touch is through the laying out

  429. of hands come and lay your hands on her that she may be healed and she will live he understood

  430. it scripturally and he probably had heard and seen Jesus's ministry that Jesus laid hands on people

  431. everywhere he went look up Jesus Jesus ministry the miracles of healing and see how many times

  432. as he actually touched the person it's over 90% of the times sometimes he just speaks the word but

  433. over 90% of the time he puts his hands on them why because the Christos the anointing that

  434. upon him would be transferred over to the hungry and thirsty heart so Jesus went with him and

  435. a great multitude followed him and thronged him so now people realize also that Jesus is

  436. powerful he's the miracle worker and they're thronging him which means they're touching him note

  437. that nothing happens imagine that imagine if you had a time machine wouldn't be awesome to see him

  438. a lot of us were like Lord if I could just if you would reveal yourself but they were there in

  439. the presence of Jesus touching him but nothing was happening why because they were cheap touches

  440. there was no faith behind them there was no expectation behind them they were just you know

  441. you know the way a fighter comes down the aisle and then everybody just wants to touch him

  442. everyone wants to touch your fame touch your glory maybe it was a curious touch

  443. maybe Jesus you know he was a carpenter so he was swole so he was like oh carpenter so nice

  444. we don't know but nothing was happening yet everybody was touching him

  445. verse 25 you know I always thought when it says Jesus was a carpenter because I got saved when I was

  446. 16 to me what that meant was like he had a tool belt and a hammer and more you know like he put

  447. nails and wood but a carpenter back then you know you rolled big logs big stones big so then I

  448. realized all those paintings of an 80 pound Jesus were not accurate the skin and bones hippie Jesus

  449. not scriptural did you know that did you just learn that today right Jesus wasn't skinny

  450. Jesus had a six pack he was because of all the work I believe it was the enemy who made him look

  451. in in the art and made him look so effeminate and so skinny and they paint him like he never stopped fasting

  452. but he fasted for 40 days he ate afterwards but they they make it out like he never stopped

  453. and they gave him the pretty blonde hair and the surfer look and made him all hippie-like and

  454. now a certain woman had a flow of blood for 12 years and had suffered many things from many physicians

  455. she had spent all that she had and was no better but rather grew worse

  456. she was out there illegally by the way under Levitical Law a woman couldn't have any kind of

  457. flow of blood and the out in public but she had this physical issue for 12 years and she was desperate

  458. she was hungry listen I don't know how I can get this through to you but God will respond to

  459. desperation God I'm telling you some of you you think you're dead you're not desperate enough

  460. you got to get a little nuts no really I shaved off all my hair one time because I was hungry

  461. and thirsty for God didn't even know the word that well I was like say four years at the time

  462. and I read an ax how Paul shaved off all his hair because he took a note and I was like all right

  463. and I just I was totally like a bowling ball ball my junior year of college shaved it off

  464. was it scriptural no did God honor it yes do something you've never done before you got to really

  465. get desperate why listen you can get desperate now or you can get desperate when it's really desperate

  466. see when people are in the midst of a crisis the whole world is crashing around on them they're

  467. desperate well now you're starting from scratch now you're in the depths of the pit and now you're

  468. going to begin building a desperate relationship with the Lord no do it wherever you're at and be

  469. hungry stir yourself up it's not called it's not being fake it's not hype it's not emotional

  470. sentimentalism Paul wrote Timothy said stir up the gift of God that is within you by the way through

  471. the laying on of my hands stir it up you got to stir up a desperation and then when you think

  472. you're hungry and thirsty and desperate get more desperate do something wild yes

  473. look that's gonna love you no matter what he loves you he's for you but sometimes you have to

  474. get his attention catch what I'm saying it's not that his attention is an on you but you gotta

  475. you gotta get his attention his attention is on you but I want his attention attention

  476. for example an angel appeared to Cornelius and said he was selected he out of all the people I'm

  477. planning earth he was gonna be the one that essentially the gospel would come to the Gentiles

  478. and Cornelius was like huh me and angel says your prayers and your giving have come up as a memorial

  479. before God he got God's attention with his giving and with his praying there's a way to get God's

  480. attention you're not buying it you're not trading in exchange for it's by faith and when it's

  481. true faith there will be a manifestation of that faith you cannot sit in a corner twiddling your

  482. thumbs and say I'm in faith there's always an action to faith that's what James says when he says

  483. you have you say you have faith you say you have works blah blah blah I'll show you my faith by my

  484. work by my actions anybody can come in talking about faith there's gotta be an evidence

  485. you say I don't know how to become wild and go too far we'll cross that bridge when we get there

  486. we got a great pastoral staff we'll keep it if you start to go we'll get you you just have to listen

  487. when we do for most of you don't be worried about what happens if you get a little too radical you

  488. need a dose of that that first century radical commitment amen that's how you'll see God in your

  489. life today yes hallelujah so she heard about Jesus she's she's doing something she's never done

  490. before you know why because she was so sick and tired of being sick and tired my exhortation

  491. before was don't wait to get to that place don't why why wait for things to be falling apart all

  492. are you so that can't be me when she heard about Jesus she came behind him in the crowd and touched

  493. his garment for she said if only I may touch his clothes by the way that was the continuous

  494. tense of the verb she kept saying over and over again power in her words if I only may touch

  495. there it is again touch she understood there would be a transfer if only I may touch his clothes

  496. I shall be made well immediately the found of her blood was dried up and she felt in her body

  497. that she was healed of the affliction she felt again she felt she felt in her body that she was healed

  498. of her affliction what happened Jesus didn't press the anointing into her she snuck it she came

  499. up behind him secretly once again because it was illegal for her to be there and when no one was

  500. looking she just let me just get a little dose and a hungry heart a faith-filled heart she made a

  501. withdrawal she made an anointing withdrawal you know you can make anointing withdrawals anytime

  502. of the day and you can get good at it you can practice it in the beginning you might just be

  503. singing and all you feel like I'm just singing in my room no one's listening not even god and my

  504. voice is just about you have to learn how to be stubborn and shut those thoughts down as I believe

  505. God is hearing and you go completely by raw faith and you can train your spirit to be in tune with

  506. the Holy Spirit so that eventually over time you lift your hands and the moment you lift your

  507. hands you're overwhelmed you end up on the floor because God comes upon you hallelujah living a drop

  508. away from drunk at all times hallelujah immediately okay and Jesus okay so she immediately felt

  509. within herself and Jesus immediately knowing in himself that power had gone out of him so she felt

  510. the anointing go into her and he felt the anointing the virtue come out of him the anointing is

  511. stuff I don't know how else to say it when I say anointing you immediately think of like haze and

  512. fog and little glitzing star dust coming down whoo no it's not something that's symbolic or

  513. fantastic in that way it is read is stuff it is the stuff of God it is weighty stuff Holy stuff

  514. and that stuff will get on you and that stuff will get in you and that stuff will do you good

  515. and that stuff will bring you in order and that stuff will heal you it will heal you it will when you

  516. When you come in contact with the anointing of God, you get aligned and a lot of our problems

  517. are because we're not aligned with the Lord, we're out of bounds, we're out of order.

  518. We've gone in different ways and we're saying, Lord, bless me, but you're over here.

  519. He can't bless you over there.

  520. You've got to become aligned and the anointing will help line you up aligned with the order

  521. of heaven.

  522. Now for us, that sounds like great news for some people when I say that you're terrified.

  523. Because you've been so misaligned for so long being aligned with God is scary for you.

  524. You have an idea of what that looks like and it doesn't seem fun at all.

  525. I don't know what to tell you.

  526. How's your current thing working out for you?

  527. I've tried it both ways, I've tried it three, four, five different ways.

  528. God is the one who offers abundant life.

  529. The Bible says, the way of the sinner is hard.

  530. The way of the sinner is hard and full of sorrow.

  531. We like to pretend it's fun but we all know consequences come and that way is hard and

  532. full of sorrow.

  533. God's way is better.

  534. I'd rather fall on him and be broken than he fall on me and grind me to a powder.

  535. Jesus immediately knowing in himself that power had gone out of him, turned around in

  536. the crowd and said, who touched my clothes?

  537. Remember how everybody was touching him?

  538. His disciples point that out.

  539. But there were cheap touches, curious touches, but he was referring to a special touch,

  540. the touch of faith, the touch of hunger, the touch of desperation that activated the power.

  541. Isn't it a shame, a crime that potentially hundreds of people touched Jesus that day

  542. and walked away completely unchanged?

  543. Touched God in the flesh, the Messiah, they touched Him and got nothing because there

  544. was no faith or hunger or thirst or desperation attached to their touch.

  545. But along came one woman and she did it by faith with that hunger and her whole life

  546. was turned around.

  547. Hallelujah.

  548. God is offering you more.

  549. He wants to take you from glory to glory.

  550. But we are our own greatest enemy.

  551. There has to be a work done on the inside of us that can happen in a service.

  552. Yes, that can happen in your own home.

  553. In fact, whatever begins in a service, it should continue on in your home, continue on

  554. in your car.

  555. Yes, even in the subway, let it continue on.

  556. We'll do a deep work in you.

  557. Hallelujah.

  558. We're shifting.

  559. Come on up.

  560. You're up.

  561. I want to do this.

  562. Pastor James, will you help us with the tithes and offerings and any announcements?

  563. Then I want to invite our ministry team up.

  564. Our ministry team, notice we don't call them a prayer team.

  565. They're a ministry team.

  566. There is a difference.

  567. People say come and pray for me.

  568. I always want you to pray about.

  569. Oh, enough, whatever comes to your heart.

  570. I know what they're saying.

  571. They don't know what they're saying.

  572. I know what they're saying.

  573. They're saying I need help.

  574. And if I were to tell you everything, I'd give you a list of several dozen things.

  575. What I really want is ministry.

  576. I want the Holy Spirit.

  577. I want its power.

  578. I want the anointing.

  579. Jesus did actually very little praying for people.

  580. Count the number of times he prayed for people.

  581. But he ministered to people by the anointing all the time.

  582. Our ministry team is called a ministry team because it's not the words they say.

  583. It's their laying hands on you and releasing God's anointing upon you.

  584. You get the difference.

  585. Our ministry team, they're not special, neither am I.

  586. They just open.

  587. God will flow through an open and yielded vessel.

  588. Hallelujah.
