  1. Don't be left in the dark. Get proper understanding of life

  2. through the word of God. My people perish for lack of

  3. knowledge. The word of God is an

  4. illumination which gives direction.

  5. Remain placed as reverend was. Feminu illuminates your mind

  6. with the word of God with all simplicity and clarity, the.

  7. Tappy that we started to engage from December last year is

  8. lessons on friendship and we have kept our focus on the

  9. principle of clubbing to climb. Simply put, keeping the company

  10. of the successful. So today we're still going to

  11. continue on the fourth leg of the journey, lessons on

  12. friendship. Today the focus will be on

  13. friendship beyond the borders of your social clan.

  14. Friendship beyond the borders of your social clan.

  15. First Kings chapter 5 from verse 1 to 12 was the scripture we

    1 Kings 5 chapter mention

  16. engaged last week and that scripture we study the

  17. friendship between King Solomon and King Arab.

  18. Both the ups and downs of their relationship were carefully

  19. produced in First Kings Chapter 5 from verse 1 to 12, we noted

    1 Kings 5 chapter mention

  20. the agreement between King Iram of Tyra and King Solomon of

  21. Israel, where Iram provided materials and Craftsman to help

  22. Solomon build the temple in Jerusalem.

  23. The kind of relationship between the two of them, both men of

  24. royalty, can be classified as friendship within a common

  25. social clan. Friendship between a common

  26. social clan. And in return for the supplied

  27. supplies he made to Solomon, Solomon also supplied him with

  28. food and other goods. So from here the symbiotic

  29. spirit of organic relationship was at full display because we

  30. did noted earlier that in a non organic relationship that is a

  31. symbiotic, there's got to be less expectation and much

  32. reciprocation and that's exactly what play out between King

  33. Solomon and King Aram. So the King Aram relationship

  34. with Solomon, as we also noted, was greatly influenced by their

  35. father's friendship, David and Iran's father Abiba.

  36. So here we can also deduce that there is this high tendency for

  37. organic friendship to graduate into trans generational

  38. heritage. OK, so the organic relationship

  39. between David and Abiba, the father of Arab, was what

  40. eventually graduated into a translational heritage between

  41. Solomon and Iran. From there, it's important for

  42. us to note also that friendship is needed for the fulfillment of

  43. higher purpose. So if what you intend to achieve

  44. in life is within the bracket of your capacity there, you don't

  45. need a friend. But if you must achieve higher

  46. purpose in life to a better than one, so by the time you claim to

  47. have a friend and that friend is not contributing to your

  48. achieving higher purpose in destiny, you don't need that

  49. kind of a friend. Am I talking to somebody now?

  50. Solomon wanted to build a temple in this country.

  51. There were no skilled Craftsman OK that could help him build the

  52. temple, and the material resources well that he needed a

  53. good percentage of it, were not available in his own country.

  54. And so he extended a hand of friendship to higher ram.

  55. And higher ram supply both the wood and the professionals to

  56. help him build so that friendship help him help him to

  57. achieve a higher purpose. So friendship is needed for the

  58. fulfillment of higher purpose, and if you may be able to easily

  59. find the friend you need to achieve higher purpose within

  60. the border of your common social clan.

  61. And sometimes we have to cross the border of your social clan

  62. to get it. We're going to explain that more

  63. explicitly as we proceed in the study.

  64. So friendship should serve the purpose of addition and also

  65. serve the purpose of multiplication simultaneously.

  66. So simultaneously, friendship to serve the purpose of adding

  67. value to you or multiply your inherent capacity.

  68. So friendship must complement by making a valuable what you lack.

  69. So friendship must complement by making a valuable world to life.

  70. Friendship must also multiply what you have by enhancing your

  71. capacity to do more. Remember last week I mentioned

  72. to you that there's a need for you to regularly audit

  73. friendship by asking the question what am I putting in,

  74. What am I getting, what am I getting back?

  75. So this another way by which you mail or you edit or you review

  76. friendship. OK, once you know that

  77. friendship is meant to compliment, OK, you should know

  78. yourself enough to know what you need and you lack.

  79. OK, the friends you are keeping, are they able to compliment you?

  80. Then friendship must also apply. Multiply what you have by an

  81. answer, your capacity to do more.

  82. So a friend should be a catalyst in your life, not an inhibitor.

  83. A friend should be a catalyst, not an inhibitor.

  84. So, and in the case of Solomon and Iran that we studied last

  85. week, we especially found out that there's much benefit from

  86. their alliance on both side. A few of those things we can

  87. notice are the following. One, access to national

  88. resources. The national resources in Tyree,

  89. where Iran was the king was wood OK and professionals, skillful

  90. Craftsman, he made them available to Solomon.

  91. Then in Solomon land was abundance of food because the

  92. the the land over which Solomon was raining was an agrarian

  93. society. So they also have plenty of food

  94. and spices and so on and so forth.

  95. So access to national resources, then they are coming together.

  96. Also strengthening trade and diplomatic ties, strengthened

  97. trade and diplomatic ties. What we say essentially is that

  98. your friends should be able to create opportunity for you.

  99. Your friends should be able to bring you to opportunity that

  100. can help your destiny. Then they have joint business

  101. venture. Now what are you doing with your

  102. friend that you cannot trust with money?

  103. What are you doing with a friend that you cannot trust?

  104. That if you put your business in this custody, you will not

  105. disappoint you or JIT you. So they have joint business

  106. venture, they traded in good and so many other things together

  107. then regional influence and security.

  108. So don't keep a friend that can easily give you out.

  109. Don't keep a friend. That's the price.

  110. So regional influence and security, the two of them, when

  111. they came together, they become much more respected.

  112. And there was no story that any of those two nations were

  113. attacked as at the time they were keeping diplomatic

  114. friendship together. So they are inheritance

  115. friendship made it easier for Iran to trust and to cooperate

  116. with Solomon those yielding mutual benefits.

  117. So it was an heritage because they inherited it the the

  118. friendship relationship from their both friends.

  119. So however, that does not mean that you always have it good all

  120. the time. So that indicates friendship

  121. demands maturity, it also demands humility and one of the

  122. two persons must take the lead in demonstrating the two,

  123. particularly maturity. So in that story of Solomon and

  124. King Aram, King Aram eventually proved to be the most mature and

  125. one that is most sacrificial in the relationship.

  126. Let's be clear Explore that the maturity the Mossabai king Iran.

  127. We find out as we engaged the study last week in first screen

  128. Chapter 9 verse 10 to 14. After Solomon gave Iran the city

  129. that he promised to give in. OK, it was recorded that Iran

  130. was displeased he was not satisfied with the cities he

  131. gave him. In fact, the Bible called those

  132. city Kabul, which means good for nothing.

  133. So indicating that Iran was abstractly dissatisfied with

  134. what he got back for his commitment to the friendship

  135. between him and Solomon. But in spite of that, Iram

  136. didn't end the relationship with Solomon.

  137. Now one thing that will also help you if your friendship, we

  138. have a long span tell if it's a +1 that can benefit you is to

  139. learn to use your magnifying lens.

  140. On the positive side of your friend, the strength of your

  141. friend, the goodness that your friend does to you.

  142. Learn to use the magnifying lens to see it.

  143. Hello, are we together? So don't use your magnifying

  144. lens on the little error that is in your friend.

  145. If he has been doing you good, good, good, good and good, then

  146. one day it does. What is not pleasing to you?

  147. You don't because of that, put a magnifying lens on that one day

  148. of batting at the end the relationship.

  149. Am I talking to somebody? So because it's required

  150. maturity, humility and patience to keep a good company.

  151. So despite the fact that there was one day Solomon did

  152. something that didn't please Iran, he didn't end relationship

  153. with Solomon. He kept to relationship.

  154. So Iran push himself as a supportive and loyal friend to

  155. Solomon. So and that's why I said between

  156. the two of them, he demonstrated more maturity.

  157. He gave more to the relationship.

  158. He positioned himself as a supportive and loyal friend to

  159. Solomon because it was after the Kabul experience that he

  160. deployed his Navy officers to help Solomon in his trade of

  161. goo. So from here, we can consider

  162. Haram as a skilled diplomat, a leader who prioritizes mutual

  163. benefit and cooperation because despite being satisfied with the

  164. cities he received, he continued to support Solomon,

  165. demonstrating his commitment to their alliance.

  166. His action source is a pragmatist.

  167. His action source is a strategic thinker.

  168. It's not my OP. He value the bigger picture over

  169. personal interest. You know the relationship has

  170. come to the level whereby it's a mutual benefit between their two

  171. kingdoms. So what he lost was not the

  172. benefits to the entire country. What he lost was its own

  173. personal benefit. He doesn't say because of his

  174. own personal benefit that he could not get.

  175. Then we had the relationship and put the entire country into into

  176. problem or missing the benefit that should flow in terms of

  177. food and spices from Solomon Kingdom to his own Kingdom.

  178. So from here, I can see a man who lived the Christ standard,

  179. the Scripture says, in terms of honor, which will always put our

  180. neighbor ahead of us. So he lived the Christ standard

  181. despite not being a Jew or Christian.

  182. And on the part of Solomon, OK, it's unfortunate that he did

  183. what he did to Iran. And so the lesson for us there,

  184. the New Testament Christian, is that it is not good if you

  185. guarantee of the unbelievers in the perimeter of our influence

  186. cannot see the difference Christ has made in US.

  187. Hallelujah. Now what Iran did to Solomon,

  188. OK, one will expect that it is Solomon that you saw that level

  189. of kindness and maturity, but it was the other way, the other way

  190. around. So the unbeliever here looks

  191. more like the better friend. Hello, the unbeliever looks like

  192. what? The better friend.

  193. And that's why I say it's not good if the generality of the

  194. unbelievers in the perimeter of your influence cannot see the

  195. difference Christ has made in you.

  196. Jesus teaching the beatitude on the month in Matthew 520 He said

  197. For I say unto you that accept your righteousness shall exceed

  198. the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees.

  199. Yes I know kids enter into the Kingdom of heaven.

  200. So in any relationship you must seek to be the better friend

  201. tells yourself tell your neighbor be the better friend

  202. tell your neighbor be the better friend tell yourself I will be

  203. the better friend. The Lord help you in Jesus name.

  204. Now. That was the issues we looked at

  205. last week and the lessons thereof for today's study.

  206. Our time is fast pain, but it's important that we engage this

  207. particular one too. The focus is friendship beyond

  208. the borders of your social clan. Friendship beyond the borders of

  209. your social clan. I have emphasized again and

  210. again that organic friendship is symbiotic in nature, organic

  211. friendship is symbiotic in nature, and that regardless of

  212. your rank, regardless of your position on the social scale,

  213. you will not be able to predict the day you will need help

  214. outside your regular or natural social clan.

  215. So we all have our inherited or circumstantial social clan.

  216. How do I mean? I cited the example of Iran and

  217. King Solomon to you. The father of the two of them

  218. were kings. Are we together?

  219. So their immediate or natural inherited social clan is

  220. royalty. In the case of Jonathan and

  221. David, it was not so. Both of them didn't come from

  222. the same social clan or class. So we all have our inherited or

  223. circumstantial social clan. In other words, there are two

  224. type of social clan. We have the natural play

  225. inherited social clan and then there are also circumstantial

  226. social clan. For instance, the university is

  227. a leveller, so you can find the child of the poorest man, OK,

  228. sitting in the same classroom with the child of the richest

  229. man. So circumstances has brought the

  230. two of them together. Am I talking to somebody?

  231. So they are taking the same lectures together, writing the

  232. same test together. You know, because circumstances

  233. of education has brought the two of them together.

  234. So Solomon and Iram were born into royalty that was the

  235. inherited social clan. David's friendship to Jonathan

  236. was circumstantial. If not for Goliath issue, if not

  237. for the evil spirit. OK that always afflicts.

  238. All these two circumstances were the things that made David and

  239. Jonathan to cross path in destiny.

  240. Otherwise David wouldn't have spare smell being a friend.

  241. To the son of the king. So David Francis Jonathan was

  242. circumstantial. It was a baby of circumstance.

  243. And if that if those circumstances didn't come up, it

  244. was possible that their path may never cross.

  245. Am I talking to somebody? So now what is the lesson here?

  246. Don't keep yourself within your inherited social clan.

  247. The focus for today is friendship beyond the borders of

  248. your social clan. So don't get yourself within the

  249. borders of your inherited social clan.

  250. Observe your circumstances and utilize it to improve your

  251. social credential. One of the things you should

  252. give attention to very early life is improving on the on the

  253. credential. OK that you have socially.

  254. So improve your social credential.

  255. Prepare yourself with the capacity to fit into a higher or

  256. broader social client. Regardless of whether you are

  257. you have a peace out background or an A middle class background,

  258. commit yourself to improving your social credential

  259. credential. And you do that by observing

  260. your circumstances and using it to improve your social

  261. credential. So prepare yourself with the

  262. capacity to fit into a higher or a broader social clan.

  263. And so many circumstances is provided that platform for you.

  264. So many circumstances are provided that upon for you, for

  265. instance, the opportunity you have to go to university, the

  266. one you have to participate in, the one year compulsory National

  267. Youth service must be utilized to expand your social clan

  268. beyond your tribe. Expand your social clan beyond

  269. your faith. Expand your social clan beyond

  270. your field of study. You have studied accountancy or

  271. marketing? Praise the name of the Lord, OK?

  272. It's not too good that all the friends you have OK are people

  273. who study accountancy. So what you have in the

  274. university, you have done your one year service.

  275. Utilize it to expand your social class beyond your tribe, beyond

  276. your field, beyond your field of study, and as a working class.

  277. Some privileges do come, so when you are privileged to attend

  278. workshops or you are giving any out of the duty post assignment,

  279. make sure you gain new friends. By doing that, you are expanding

  280. your social clan. You will not know where you will

  281. need that person per venture by the time your your party destiny

  282. cross. OK, you adjust lower ranked

  283. officers at the state level. You may not know that friend you

  284. met. Now in 10 years to come, OK, we

  285. have transferred service to the federal civil service and is now

  286. a permanent secretary there. Am I talking to somebody?

  287. Am I talking to somebody? So as a working class those

  288. privileges you have to attend workshops or you are giving an

  289. out of duty assignment. Make sure you gain new friend

  290. friends that can add value to your life.

  291. Then as a leader or a senior cater worker, ensure that you

  292. are friends or confident even among your junior colleagues.

  293. Don't just boss everybody. Let there be a social

  294. environment where your junior colleague can walk over to you

  295. and give you vital information, even advice.

  296. You OK? You can deliberately pass on

  297. files to a junior officer. OK, if the information there is

  298. not classified, am I talking to somebody and ask the junior

  299. officer to make recommendations to you and you will discover

  300. that you find one thing or the other that is superior to what

  301. you will have put on the on the file.

  302. Am I talking to somebody? So have confidence among your

  303. junior colleagues and respect their opinion.

  304. Respect them. Why you cannot tell the day you

  305. will need help outside your social clan?

  306. You will not be able to tell the day when you will need help

  307. outside your social clan. So one day destiny may demand

  308. that they may demand the king to fulfill the obligation meant for

  309. a prophet to perform. I would justify that with with

  310. his with his scripture. Second king chapter 5.

  311. Second king Chapter 5 S one day destiny may demand a king to

  312. perform the function meant for a prophet.

  313. How will he handle it? Second three Chapter 5 from

  314. verse one. Now Neyman, captain of the host

  315. of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and

  316. honorable because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto

  317. Syria. He was also a mighty man in

  318. valor, but he was a leper. That's true.

  319. And the Syrian had gone out by companies and had brought away

  320. captive out of the land of Israel a little maid as he

  321. waited on Neymar's wife. Can you see a blend of social

  322. clan? Now circumstances has brought a

  323. little maid, a little guy, a slave to the household of a man

  324. described as a mighty man of valour.

  325. Now you will now see how a little maid added value to the

  326. life of a man of valour. And the lady could do that most

  327. probably because he was not being maltreated in that family.

  328. If she were being maltreated in that family, she may not care at

  329. all about whatever evil before befell that family.

  330. Verse 3. As she said unto her ministry,

  331. Will God my Lord, while with the prophet, while with the prophet

  332. that is in Samaria, for you will recover him of his leprosy.

  333. And one went in and told this law, say thus and thus share the

  334. maid, that is, of the land of Israel.

  335. And the king of Syria said, Can you see now military slave, now

  336. to the palace? So you will not tell the

  337. circumstance that will come up that will require you to operate

  338. outside your natural social clan.

  339. The voice of that Lady resonated in the kings palace and the king

  340. of Syria said go to and I will send a letter or to the king of

  341. Israel. The lady told them about a

  342. prophet, but the letter was not being sent to a king.

  343. And he departed and took with him 10 talents of silver, and

  344. 6000 pieces of gold, and 10 changes of women.

  345. And he brought the letter to the king of his saying, Now when

  346. this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith St.

  347. Naman, my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his

  348. leprosy. There will always come a day

  349. when they will give you an assignment that's outside your

  350. capacity, that is outside your credential, that is outside your

  351. training, and you must carry out that assignment.

  352. How do you go about it? If you had one that's always

  353. keeping to yourself, you are living only in your own world.

  354. Am I talking to somebody? The King of Syria, as at that

  355. time he has the capacity to punish the King of Samaria the

  356. way the king of United States just punish the king of

  357. Venezuela. If he didn't meet up with the

  358. demand, are we together? So a request was on his table

  359. that was outside his social corridor to handle.

  360. And it came to pass when the king of Israel had read the

  361. letter, that he rent his clothes and said, Am I go to kill and to

  362. make alive that this man don't send unto me to recover a man of

  363. his leprosy. Wherefore consider, I pray you,

  364. and see how he seeketh A quarrel against me.

  365. And it was so when a lifestyle demand of God had had that the

  366. king of Israel rent his clothes. Now there are so many silent

  367. things that has happened between verse 7 and verse 8.

  368. Certainly there is a relationship between the king of

  369. Israel and prophet Elijah. Otherwise he will not hear that

  370. the king was in trouble and be concerned.

  371. Am I talking to somebody? This as part of the reason you

  372. maintain cordiality with people and you keep friends beyond your

  373. social clan, so that when for any reason you are in trouble,

  374. people will not rejoice, rather they will be concerned and see

  375. how they can help you out. And it was so when Elijah the

  376. man of God had heard that the king of his son had rent his

  377. clothes. That is sent to the King saying

  378. wherefore as our rent by clothes.

  379. Yes, the matter has come to your table.

  380. OK, you may not have the capacity to hand me, but why are

  381. we friends? So the reason I am anointed is

  382. to help you or your truth. Am I talking to somebody?

  383. But that will happen because beyond the corridor of royalty.

  384. OK, he also has a friend among the priesthood.

  385. Let him come to me and he shall know that there is a prophet in

  386. Israel. So Neyman came with his horses

  387. and with Sharon, and stood at the door of the House of Elisha.

  388. Of course, the king of Syria should know that the king will

  389. not kill leprosy. If a king could kill leprosy

  390. himself was a king, He should have done that.

  391. I don't need this file. You should know that that

  392. assignment at most is a job for the prophets.

  393. So why would the king of Syria ask the king of Israel to kill

  394. naman of his leprosy? And of course he was well

  395. informed that the little mate that brought the idea said that

  396. is a prophet in Israel, not a king in Israel that could kill

  397. leprosy. Am I talking to somebody?

  398. So he was well informed that it is a prophet, he said, that can

  399. cure the man of his leprosy. But he nevertheless requested

  400. that they should go to the palace instead of going to the

  401. prophets. And that request went to the

  402. palace instead of directing it to the prophet.

  403. Here is the answer. The day king will be asked to

  404. cure leprosy. His reason?

  405. He must have prophet in his circle of friendship.

  406. What is the lesson they have for you?

  407. Your destiny assignment will not be limited to only your

  408. professional training or natural gifting.

  409. Your destiny assignment is different from your career

  410. assignment. So your destiny assignment in

  411. life will not be limited to only your professional training or

  412. natural gifting. Therefore, you need friends

  413. beyond your natural social climb.

  414. Know this, in life you will not be the one to solve all the

  415. problems that will pass through your corridor.

  416. Destinies are aware that that problem will not be solved with

  417. your will not be solved on your corridor.

  418. Are we together? But yet the problem will pass

  419. through your corridor. So you will not be the one to

  420. solve all the problems that will pass through your corridor.

  421. This is the reason you must create room for friends of

  422. different categories of capacities in your corridor of

  423. influence. So for the king of Israel or to

  424. the king of Israel, what the king of Syria did was a

  425. provocation, but to Elijah the prophet in the land, it was his

  426. own natural vocation. So what the king of Syria

  427. consider a provocation was a simple vocation for Prophet

  428. Elijah to handle. So what was the saving grace of

  429. the king of Israel? His saving grace was the cordial

  430. channel of communication between the palace and the office of the

  431. prophets. Friendship beyond the borders of

  432. your social clan. So your office with all its

  433. powers may not be relevant to solving some problems, but it

  434. may only be relevant to connecting people to the

  435. solution to their problems. And that is why the problem is

  436. passing through your corridor of influence.

  437. Am I talking to somebody? So the problem you don't have

  438. the capacity to solve, you may have the influence to refine

  439. them to where they can be solved.

  440. So the king of Syria didn't send directly to Elijah, IS sent to

  441. the king of Samaria who took it as a provocation, whereas is

  442. well connected by communication to a prophet whose vocation is

  443. to kill leprosy. So I round up gradually by

  444. saying make friends across circles of social gradients,

  445. have friends on the streets, are now friends in the palace.

  446. Let the social environment around you depict a rainbow.

  447. The social environment around you must not be monotonous.

  448. You must be accessible to people of different social backgrounds.

  449. Be accessible to people of different social background.

  450. So don't be a rich man who despises the poor and not be a

  451. poor man who hates the rich. Let the rich respect the poor.

  452. Let the poor admire the rich. There is no basis for qualms

  453. where humility and maturity lead.
