  1. Don't be left in the dark. Get proper understanding of life

  2. through the Word of God. My people perish for lack of

  3. knowledge. The Word of God is an

  4. illumination which gives direction.

  5. Remember, place as Reverend was far and illuminates your mind

  6. with the Word of God with all simplicity and clarity.

  7. Let me read for us quickly. You can have your seat.

  8. You're welcome to God's presence.

  9. God bless you. Let me read quickly for you a

  10. few verses that represents the commencement of the ministry of

  11. Jesus and educators on the mission of Christ.

  12. Matthew 419 And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make

  13. you feces of may, or the line that praise, follow me.

  14. Matthew is my thing. And in certain script came and

  15. said unto him, Master, I will follow thee, wheresoever thou

  16. goest. May we be ready to follow, and

  17. may we be fully prepared to pay the price of following Him in

  18. the name of Jesus. Matthew 822 But Jesus said unto

  19. him, Follow me. Now this phrase, follow me is

  20. becoming more and more consistent in the commencement

  21. of the ministry of Jesus, which introduces an educators to his

  22. mission. He said, But Jesus said unto

  23. him, Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead, that nothing

  24. can stand, no matter how important it may appear to us,

  25. between US and the followership of Jesus Christ.

  26. Matthew 99 And Jesus passed from dance.

  27. He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the receipt of

  28. custom. And he said unto him, Follow me.

  29. And he aroused and followed him, So follow me again.

  30. Matthew 6024 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man

  31. will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross,

  32. and do what? Follow me.

  33. Matthew 1921. Now we are just taking a

  34. representation of the commencement of the ministry of

  35. Jesus that introduces us to His mission and what our

  36. relationship with Him should be. Jesus said unto him, Matthew

  37. 1921, If thou will be perfect, go and sell that thou us, and

  38. give to the poor, and thou shall our treasure in evil, and come

  39. and follow me. If you read other gospels, it's

  40. the same praise the name of the Lord and the topic we begin to

  41. explore from this Sunday and for a few weeks to come is titled

  42. Walking in the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit.

  43. But to start with, we are going to examine Christian Faith

  44. Foundation, Christian faith foundation.

  45. So to walk in the Spirit as a basis, that's a foundation and

  46. that's the foundation we are going to examine today from

  47. those texts of the Scriptures. We are afraid.

  48. It's so clear that Christianity is a followership feats.

  49. Christianity is a followership faith from A to Z.

  50. It is about following Christ. If you don't understand that, if

  51. you don't embrace that, if that is not the basis of your being a

  52. Christian, then you have missed it.

  53. So Christianity is a followership faith.

  54. A to say of the Christian faith is about following Christ.

  55. So Christianity is an active faith is not a passive layer.

  56. One came and said I want to follow you, but first and

  57. foremost I want to bury my dead. Said no, let the dead bury the

  58. dead. If you want to follow me, push

  59. every other thing aside and make following me your singular

  60. vocation. A rich man came and said, what

  61. do I do to make it to eternal life?

  62. Those are the backgrounds of some of the places I just read

  63. to us. I just said to him, yes, you are

  64. a wealthy man, go sell all that well, because it will constitute

  65. a destruction by virtue of your mind attachment to those

  66. material things. Go sell them, give the proceed

  67. up from it to the poor and come and follow me taking up your

  68. cross. So Christianity is a demanding

  69. field. Many of you all that you know

  70. about Christianity is that it's a rewarding feat.

  71. But before it becomes a rewarding feat is first and

  72. foremost a demanding feat. It's an active faith.

  73. It's not a passive player. From those scriptures we read,

  74. he called the disciples to journey with him and not to

  75. jolly with him. To jolly means to party, so he

  76. called the disciples to journey with him.

  77. To advance with him. Himself was not standing pasty,

  78. OK, He was active. He was a man on a mission and

  79. anybody who will keep his company must be ready to journey

  80. with him. So he called us to journey with

  81. him, not to journey or party with him.

  82. That is why I said earlier that the Christian faith is an active

  83. faith is not a passive player. We are to journey with him OK,

  84. if at all there is going to be a season of merriment that will

  85. happen afterward, but not from the beginning is demand from

  86. everyone or every would be disciple was constant follow me,

  87. follow me, follow me. So salvation is not a one step

  88. program. Salvation is not a one step

  89. program. That the day you give your life

  90. to Christ, then you have concluded all that it takes to

  91. make eternal life. No, so we don't argue that you

  92. don't, that there was not a day that you gave your life to

  93. Christ. But what did you do afterward?

  94. How have you been living your life afterward is a big

  95. question. So if you consider salvation as

  96. a one step program and you drop it there, you will discover that

  97. you have not fulfilled the demands of following Christ.

  98. You have not fulfilled the demand of making it to eternal

  99. life. So is the demand from every

  100. would be disciple was very constant.

  101. Follow me for the fact that salvation is not a one step

  102. program. Salvation is a progression.

  103. It's not just a situational event.

  104. It's a progression. It's a progression.

  105. Tell somebody there is room for growth.

  106. That's what there is room for growth.

  107. Those they are just one level. Those they are just one level,

  108. Hallelujah. So you don't come to Christ with

  109. your couch. You don't come to Christ with

  110. your server. You don't come to Christ with

  111. your comfortable chair, OK, where you will sit down.

  112. No, so you don't come to Christ with your couch.

  113. You come with your canvas because you are about to set out

  114. on a journey. When you come to Christ, you

  115. come with your canvas that will make the journey easy for you.

  116. You call with your Sanders, not with your mouth because you are

  117. not coming to sleep. OK.

  118. You are coming to embark on a journey.

  119. So following Jesus is the standard, a standard that cannot

  120. be subjected to the creativity of man.

  121. Hello. Following Jesus is the standard.

  122. It is the standard that cannot be subjected to the creativity

  123. of men. Following Jesus cannot be

  124. reinvented by human ideology. Hebrew 12 I read verses one and

  125. two. Wherefore saying, We also are

  126. compass about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay

  127. aside every weight. So in this journey you travel

  128. light, you don't load yourself with conscience of this world,

  129. you lay aside every weight and the scene which thought easily

  130. beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set

  131. before us. So we are called unto a journey,

  132. not unto a journeyman. Verse 2 looking unto Jesus, the

  133. inventor that invented the faith that cannot be reinvented by

  134. human ideology, the author and the finisher of our faith.

  135. It's not. You see, the race is different

  136. from the ministry. Hello, it is the ministry, the

  137. ministry site of Christ. OK that we can say we are you

  138. stop, we take it off from there. But the race, OK, He started it,

  139. He completed it. The faith itself, He started it.

  140. He did what? He completed it.

  141. So you are not contributing any idea to your salvation.

  142. Am I talking to somebody? There is nothing about the faith

  143. that can be reinvented. It's a standard.

  144. So Our Calling is on to compliance, not on to

  145. contribution. So looking unto Jesus, the

  146. author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was

  147. set before him endured the cross, despise the shame, and

  148. sat down at the hand at the right hand of the throne of God.

  149. So what essentially does this mean?

  150. It means when you meet Christ, you have to walk with him on the

  151. way. So you don't meet Christ and

  152. walk in your own way. The topic we are considering is

  153. working in the Spirit, and we are starting from laying the

  154. foundation of what the Christian faith itself is.

  155. So you don't come to Christ to invent your own way or your own

  156. style or your own method of practicing the faith.

  157. So you don't meet Christ and walk in your own way.

  158. You don't meet Christ and walk away from Him.

  159. For everyone that He makes. What He demanded from them is to

  160. follow Him. So the direction must be the

  161. same. There must not be distraction so

  162. you don't look elsewhere and copy what is being done there.

  163. I'm bringing, I said. Since they are doing it that way

  164. in the other way, then let us also follow the same method.

  165. No, so you don't meet cries and walk away from him.

  166. You are not permitted to watch him afar off.

  167. What Christ followership demand is intimacy, because without

  168. intimacy there can't be bonding. We are the sheep of this

  169. pasture. We are not free range animals.

  170. You know free range animals. They can grace on any feet.

  171. Are you with me? We are called sheep are not

  172. goats. We are the sheep of his pasture,

  173. His pasture. So we have our territory.

  174. So He demand of us intimacy, and that intimacy will create

  175. bonding and the body will result into Christlikeness.

  176. The reason your lifestyle is far apart from the standard of

  177. Christ is because you are watching Him afar off.

  178. You are not close to Him. We are expected to become like

  179. Him and to become like Him we must be with Him.

  180. Becoming like Him is a product of being with Him.

  181. The reason you are not becoming like him is because you have not

  182. been with him. You have met him, but you have

  183. not stayed with him. So you don't make Christ to

  184. pathway with him. You meet Him to stay.

  185. You meet Him to abide. Say are we abide?

  186. I can't hear that brother. Do I have sisters in the Church

  187. in verse four and five of Gospel according to Saint John, Let's

  188. hear him abide in me, and I in you.

  189. Bond with me. As the branch cannot be a fruit

  190. of itself, except you abide in the vine, no more can ye except

  191. you abide in me. Verse five I am divine.

  192. Ye are the branches, ye that abided in me, and I in him.

  193. The same bring forth more fruit, for without me ye can do

  194. nothing. Let's add verse six and seven.

  195. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and his

  196. widow. And men gather them and cast

  197. them into the fire, and they are born.

  198. Seven. If ye abide in me, and my words

  199. abide in you, you shall ask what you shall ask what you will, and

  200. it shall be done unto you. So when you meet him, you meet

  201. him to walk with him. Every of your movement is

  202. within. Every of your movement is in

  203. him, with him. Hello.

  204. So that's why I said the Christian faith is a

  205. followership. Faith here to say of

  206. Christianity is to follow Christ is about following Christ.

  207. So when you meet Him, you should prepare your mind that you are

  208. setting out on a journey with Him.

  209. So you meet Him to work with Him.

  210. Every of your moment is with Him.

  211. That is intimacy. Every of your movement is in Him

  212. and with Him. Act 1728 For in Him we leave.

  213. So in which world are you leaving?

  214. The world of movies or the world of Christ?

  215. Am I asking this an intelligent question?

  216. Is somebody reflecting on that question?

  217. In which world are you living the world of fashion?

  218. The world of movies? The world of slangs?

  219. The world of cultism? The world of things invoke novel

  220. things or the world of keeping step with Jesus, That's Our

  221. Calling, is the followership thing.

  222. Keeping step with Jesus, not following him afar off.

  223. You are not to be pee pee into the things of Christ.

  224. You are supposed to be with him and see clearly.

  225. So for in him we leave, we move. That's why I said every of our

  226. movement is within. Every of our movement is in him

  227. and within you are the sheep of this pastor.

  228. You are not a free range animal. You can't be everywhere.

  229. Not every function is meant for you.

  230. Hello. I hear short people say they go

  231. to nightclub when I will not there to drink and wine.

  232. We are there to pick. What a misunderstanding of

  233. identity are you looking for there?

  234. How would you become a victim of what dinner the daughter of

  235. Jacob experience when you don't understand that you're calling

  236. OK is to ensure that every of your movement is with him.

  237. Every of your movement is in him and with him.

  238. In other words, when he's standing, OK, you are moving,

  239. you are moving him, and when he is moving, OK, you are moving

  240. with him. The children of Israel in the

  241. wilderness understood that perfectly as they comply with

  242. the movement of the pillar of cloud and the pillar of light

  243. that gives them the signal. We have to settle, OK, and we

  244. have to advance. I pray that God will grant you

  245. grace to keep steps with Jesus in the name of Jesus, for in Him

  246. we leave. That is our word.

  247. That's what's our word and move and have our being the a part of

  248. Acts 1720. And when we are in Him, what do

  249. we do? We are in Him to learn at His

  250. feet because when we learn at His feet that we can walk in His

  251. steps, of course we are going to be expected to eventually work

  252. on His feet. But before you start to walk on

  253. His feet, you must first learn at His feet.

  254. The reason many of us are performing unacceptable ministry

  255. is because we don't prioritize learning at His feet before we

  256. jump to walking on His feet. Are you with me?

  257. Say, Lord, give me the patience to learn correctly at your feet

  258. so that I can perform acceptable ministry on your feet.

  259. So Christianity again on the second note, the first note is

  260. that it's a followership faith. Then the second side to it, that

  261. Christianity is not an activity driven faith, but a knowledge

  262. driven faith. That's where the issue of

  263. training him to learn as you ought to learn comes in.

  264. Other faith is about activities, it's about what you do, it's

  265. about obligations. Hello.

  266. The Christian faith is not first about obligation, is first about

  267. devotion. It's a faith of devotion, not

  268. just about rules and obligations.

  269. So it's not an activity driven faith, but a non net driven

  270. faith. That is why some people will

  271. come on the last day and they will narrate the activities, the

  272. various dimensions of assignment they have done in his name.

  273. And then it will tell them, go away from me, you workers of

  274. iniquity, because all that they did OK did not happen in

  275. compliance, which is standard. John 832 Ye shall know the truth

  276. and the truth shall make you free.

  277. So it's a knowledge driven faith and no any amount of genuine

  278. activity that you bring to the table.

  279. We compel God to suspend His demand for knowledge no any

  280. amount of genuine activity, religious activities you put up

  281. when I impress him so much that he will not be compelled to

  282. suspend his demand for knowledge is demand for understanding

  283. faith. Comment by hearing hearing by

  284. the word of God and not by performing rituals.

  285. So it's a knowledge driven phrase.

  286. That is why the scripture is very emphatic about prioritizing

  287. obedience above sacrifice. Let me cite the example of Mary

  288. and Mata to protect the fact that no matter how genuine

  289. religious activities may be, matter how profound religious

  290. activity may be, such will never compel God to suspend His demand

  291. for knowledge. Let's jump read that story of

  292. Mary and Mata, the sisters of Lazarus, Luke 1038.

  293. We jump to verse 40 and verse 41.

  294. Those 3 verses will summarize the story for those who knew the

  295. story before. Now it came to pass as the wind

  296. that he enter into a certain village and a certain woman

  297. named Mata received him into our house.

  298. The same way you receive Jesus into your life, and the next

  299. thing we find you doing is jumping up and down without you

  300. first and foremost, learning at his feet without you first and

  301. foremost subjecting yourself to be discipled, to be thoroughly

  302. baked, to be taught to receive Jesus into his house.

  303. Make Jesus sit down then jump into the kitchen to make food

  304. for Jesus, but matter was Kumba about much saving and came to

  305. him and said Lord, dost thou not care that my sister had left me

  306. to serve alone be therefore that she helped me.

  307. So this matter that we're talking about as a sister or had

  308. a sister and the name is what Mary Mary when and sat with

  309. Jesus and Jesus was teaching her and matter was so concerned that

  310. how are we going to have a guest and the next thing is for you to

  311. sit down with the guest and you are talking with the girl

  312. instead of joining me in the kitchen to prepare meal OK for

  313. our guest. Verse 41 And Jesus answered and

  314. said unto her, Matter matter, thou are careful, and trouble

  315. about many things. We read from Hebrew.

  316. Putting aside those wits that will not allow us to be able to

  317. travel with Him. Thou are trouble about many

  318. things said, But your sister Mary has to say that which is

  319. good, and nobody can take it from us.

  320. So if you look at this story from a strictly human

  321. perspective, Matter was domestically correct, but she

  322. was divinely wrong. When you applied the rule of

  323. hospitality, she was correct, but when you applied the rule of

  324. spirituality, she was down to wrong.

  325. So from hospitality perspective matter was correct, but from

  326. sociality perspective, Jesus matter wrong.

  327. You know, when Jesus was here, every of his mission were meant

  328. to set the standard of the faith, how the faith should be

  329. practiced afterward. So even his visit to the home of

  330. Mata and Mary must be filled and interpreted as a divine nation

  331. and not just a mere social visit.

  332. In that case, what could be judged as an excellent

  333. hospitality in human estimation was disdained by Jesus.

  334. Why? What could be judged as an

  335. excellent approach to hospitality was brought into the

  336. same space with the teaching and learning of the Word of God.

  337. But Jesus will not want to accommodate that because the

  338. Christian faith is a faith that practices learning above action

  339. or demand learning before action.

  340. So we are called therefore, to prioritize working with him, are

  341. both working for him. We are called to prioritize

  342. working with him, following Him, advancing with Him, being with

  343. Him, abiding in him, are both working for him.

  344. Of course, the work that we do for him, we be valued based on

  345. the consistency of our work within.

  346. The acceptability of the work that we do for him we valued on

  347. the basis of the consistency of our working within, based on the

  348. consistency of our unbroken fellowship within.

  349. The topic we are considering is working in the Spirit.

  350. So the Christian faith is a walk is not a fork.

  351. Tell somebody the Christian faith is a work is not a fork.

  352. Am I talking to somebody? It's a progression.

  353. It's not just a confession. With the heart we believe unto

  354. salvation, with the mouth we confess hello.

  355. So it's a progression. It's not something that stop at

  356. merely confessing that Jesus is Lord.

  357. So you believe with your heart, you confess with your mouth.

  358. But it does not end there. All of those are the

  359. commencement stage of the journey of faith, The

  360. commencement of the journey of faith that you cannot undertake

  361. independent of the Holy Spirit. So it's not a journey in the

  362. flesh. It's not a journey you can

  363. undertake independent of the partnership of the Holy Spirit.

  364. In him we live. Romans 8.

  365. Let's not establish the place of the Holy Spirit in this journey

  366. #1 the Christian faith is a followership.

  367. Faith is a faith that demands followership.

  368. Followers worship of your hero, of your godmother, of your

  369. godfather, fellowship of your idol.

  370. No followership of Jesus looking onto Jesus the Author and the

  371. finisher of our faith. Not looking onto your General

  372. Vashir unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith #2 it

  373. is a knowledge based faith. It's what a knowledge faith base

  374. a progression, not just a convention.

  375. And the third leg to this matter is that this journey cannot be

  376. on that took without the partnership of the Holy Spirit.

  377. Verse 30. Romans 8.

  378. For if you live after the flesh, you shall die, but if you

  379. through the Spirit do modify the this of the body, you shall

  380. live. For as many as are led by the

  381. Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

  382. There's no confirmation OK to your claim to salvation when you

  383. are not being led by the Spirit of God, because it only implies

  384. that you stop at the convention stage.

  385. You didn't embrace the progression stage after

  386. confession. There must be a followership of

  387. Him. You advance with Him, you take

  388. steps with Him, you walk in His step.

  389. You don't invent your own way. You don't meet him and pathway

  390. with Him. You don't meet him and still

  391. continue to walk in your own way.

  392. You walk in the way with Him. So essentially Christianity is a

  393. working with God through the help of the Holy Spirit.

  394. It is this work with God that will eventually lead to working

  395. with Him. May I tell you or let you know

  396. or draw your attention to it? In case you don't know that it

  397. is much easier to work for God when you are not working with

  398. Him. The flesh can work for Him, but

  399. He cannot work with Him unless it is modified.

  400. That's what I'm saying.

  401. That's why you must prioritize working with him.

  402. Are both merely working for him, singing in the choir?

  403. When you are not born again, you have not started the journey of

  404. followership, preaching on the pulpit, OK?

  405. When you have not modified the deeds of the flesh, we're told

  406. in Romans 8, Modify the flesh and you will not fulfill the

  407. desires of the flesh. Father, we'll thank you for this

  408. much. We can travel on this road

  409. today. We ask, O Lord, that will help

  410. us to be genuine followers of the way.

  411. You help us to abide in You. You help us to make progress

  412. with you. You help us to keep walking in

  413. Your step, not inventing our own ways, not pleasing ourself.

  414. In the name of Jesus. You have called us to journey

  415. with You, not to journey with the world.

  416. But here we are, many of all. Instead of joining with you, we

  417. are full of journeymen in the world.

  418. I ask, O Lord, that grace will be given to us to carry our

  419. cross and to follow you accordingly in the name of

  420. Jesus. Thank you Lord, for answer

  421. prayer. In Jesus mighty name we have
