  1. Who is this? A Wisdom Bible church?

  2. The Church of a distant Christian narration Walking in

  3. the Spirit Last week we dwelt so well on what's Walking in the

  4. Spirit is not. I will write it quickly.

  5. Those seven items that I drew our attention to that may be

  6. considered as walking in the spirit through misconception,

  7. but which are not. Number one, I mentioned that

  8. walking in the spirit is not being boxed into the bottom of

  9. vision and revelation before you can live your normal life.

  10. So it doesn't mean that until you see visions and revelation

  11. before you can live your normal Christian life #2 we said it is

  12. not suspending your intellect or disobeying your instincts,

  13. waiting for audible voice of the Holy Spirit before you act with

  14. discretion. It entails embracing Kingdom

  15. lifestyle of Christ. That is what it simply means.

  16. It doesn't mean that you must suspend your intellect or

  17. disobey your instincts waiting for audible voice of the Holy

  18. Spirit before you act with discretion.

  19. And #3I emphasized very clearly that it is not an extra

  20. spiritual requirement for a special class of believers.

  21. You don't sit on the Pew of thinking that only those who

  22. stand on the puppy to preach are supposed to be working in the

  23. Spirit. Any other person OK who comes to

  24. church can live their their kind of life.

  25. No, walking in the spirit is not restricted to only the people on

  26. the pulpit. It is not reserved for special

  27. class of brethren. Oh, I don't belong to the prayer

  28. warrior group so I don't cast out demon so I can live my

  29. careless life. No, working in the spirit is not

  30. an extras virtual requirement for a special class of

  31. believers. It is the standard normal

  32. Christian life. The standard normal Christian

  33. life. And #4 you don't achieve it by

  34. disconnecting from realities, so it doesn't mean you go and

  35. embrace all realistics, which are fantasies such as cutting

  36. off from friends and families. OK, because you want to live a

  37. sanctimonious life and so you suspend your social life

  38. completely. No, you have to be godly even in

  39. your interaction with all the people, but that because you

  40. want to work in the Spirit, you will not suspend social

  41. interaction. It's not so #4 is like it.

  42. It is not denying the social reality of your personality.

  43. We all have our individual temperament, OK?

  44. By the help of the Holy Spirit, the negative side of your

  45. temperament, the Holy Spirit will draw your attention to it.

  46. The only Spirit will help you to overcome those weaknesses, OK.

  47. But for instance, if you are an extrovert OK and you know an

  48. estrophat will be outspoken. What matter is that where you

  49. walk in the spirit you will speak words that gives grace to

  50. people seasoned with salt doesn't mean that the only will

  51. not change you from somebody who expresses himself or herself to

  52. somebody who will now be reserved.

  53. God has a purpose. Why as why are you the way you

  54. why are you praise the name of the Lord?

  55. And so don't begin to look less spiritual, OK, because you

  56. cannot just sit calm the way some quiet people will sit calm.

  57. Quietness may not mean godliness.

  58. Somebody can be so quiet and all manners of deadly things can be

  59. going on in the heart of that person against a friend.

  60. I might talk to somebody but he kept quiet if all manners of

  61. evil imaginations. OK Oh he kept quiet and it's

  62. more sinful to have all if we imagination in your heart.

  63. OK, that somebody who is offended and immediately

  64. expresses it and it ends there. Am I talking to somebody number

  65. what number six is still like it.

  66. It is not suppressing your emotion such as laughter and

  67. grief. I cited an example of our Lord

  68. Jesus Christ when his friend Lazarus died.

  69. The scripture was very clear about it that Jesus wept.

  70. But I do have our attention to it that the scripture didn't say

  71. Jesus willed, he wept. OK, you don't do it in such a

  72. way like somebody who is staging who is staging a drama.

  73. Maybe there's a trophy for the person that we OK that that

  74. cried the loudest cry or display the the biggest drama I could

  75. die without. I went there when my own door

  76. your own door in all manners of unsanctified words.

  77. Just because you want to desire with somebody that is giving you

  78. should not be. But certainly since you carry

  79. blood in your own thing too. When something bad happened to

  80. somebody, you saw empathy where it's where sympathy you saw it.

  81. You feel for the other person, praise the name of the Lord.

  82. So try to now both face it that people who are spiritual, OK,

  83. you can't cry. No, even the writers do cry.

  84. Praise the name of the Lord and #7 is that it is not putting up

  85. a Pharisee attitude of external piety devoid of inner purity.

  86. No, you have your fallacy attitude that claims to be

  87. better than others, whereas you have your own look in your eyes

  88. and you are trying to complain about the speck in your

  89. brother's eye. So those were the issues we

  90. looked at last week and for this week we want to examine

  91. practical steps. So I'm going to be giving you

  92. practical tit beats, hints or informations that will help you

  93. to become very practical in working in the Spirit.

  94. Number one, Or to start with, what are the basic understanding

  95. that we need about this issue of working in the spirit #1 is that

  96. not just any man can walk in the Spirit.

  97. This is different from what I said last week, that it is the

  98. standard normal Christian life. I'm not contradicting myself.

  99. I just want you to understand me properly.

  100. So not just any man can walk in the Spirit.

  101. Romans 8 verse 7 says because the Cana mind is empty against

    Romans 8:7

  102. God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed

  103. can be adverse age. So then they that are in the

  104. flesh cannot please God. So not just any man can walk in

  105. the Spirit. So not just any church goer can

  106. claim he's already working in the Spirit.

  107. Why? Because there are conditions

  108. president to walking in the spirit.

  109. So if you don't satisfy those precedent conditions, OK, you

  110. you may be faking it. OK, right inside you, you know

  111. that it is not really am I talking to somebody?

  112. So that conditions President to walking in the Spirit.

  113. So walking in the Spirit is an impossible task for the flesh #2

  114. and that will begin to lead us to the reason why not just

  115. anybody can walk in the spirit. You agree with me perfectly that

  116. every child speak the language of his or immediate

  117. environments. Hello.

  118. If you if you're born an IBO boy into a Yoruba society, the

  119. parents are not speaking Yoruba are not speaking IBO.

  120. There are no IBO people around speaking IBO.

  121. OK. The community where the child is

  122. born to, they are predominantly speaking Yoruba naturally.

  123. What do you think will happen to the child?

  124. The child will speak Yoruba. So every child speak the

  125. language of his or immediate environment.

  126. In the same way, we are living in a world of wilderness and

  127. sinners. So the first tendency for every

  128. man is to also be a Sinner. Are you with me?

  129. Apart from the fact that there is the inherited scene, the

  130. Adamic nature in every man is there.

  131. But to compound the matter, if you now live in a godless

  132. society, OK, you just discover that you will just tag along.

  133. You will Emily, for every child speaks the language of its

  134. immediate environment. So what is known as the sinful

  135. nature, which in other words is called carnality, which impede

  136. our capacity to work in the spirit.

  137. OK is both in it and environmental ice plane is in it

  138. because every man born of a woman is a Sinner for all I've

  139. seen and I've come sort of the glory of God.

  140. So there is the same nature in every man that we inherited from

  141. Father Adam and it's been passed from generation to generation.

  142. So there's the that innate sin in every man.

  143. Then couple with the fact that the society is full of

  144. ungodliness. So the sinful nature that

  145. everybody carries that endow us from walking in the Spirit is

  146. both in it. It's also environmental.

  147. Hence it is natural for the flesh to disobey the Spirit.

  148. So if you walk in the Spirit, certainly there are certain

  149. things you must do intentionally, there are certain

  150. things you must do volitionally, there are certain decisions you

  151. must make. And when those precedent

  152. conditions are yet to be satisfied, working in the spirit

  153. will be very difficult. Am I talking to somebody?

  154. Galatians chapter 5. Let's look at 2 verses there, 16

    Galatians 5 chapter mention

  155. and 17. This I say then walk in the

  156. Spirit. So now this instruction is an

  157. instruction served, that you must take this step.

  158. Walk in the Spirit. I yet shall not fulfill the loss

  159. of the flesh, for the flesh losted against the Spirit.

  160. You see, our being is in a constant battle.

  161. Our being is what's in the constant battle.

  162. Whether you realize it or you don't realize it, that there are

  163. two different things. The flesh, OK, is lost in

  164. against the spirit is the reason the scripture says sometimes the

  165. spirit is willing but the body is weak.

  166. There's a prompting in your spirit to pray OK, but there's

  167. also another whisper that is to go and sleep.

  168. So our being is always in a constant battle between the

  169. flesh and the spirit and the spirit against the flesh.

  170. And these are contrary the one to the other, the flesh and the

  171. spirit. OK, They they are two parallel

  172. lines that never meet. One is competing to suppress the

  173. other. Am I talking to somebody so that

  174. you cannot do the things that you would so several?

  175. You make up your mind that this is what I want to do, but at the

  176. end of the day you are not able to do it.

  177. Why? Because the spirit and the

  178. flesh, they are in constant battle.

  179. Can we move on #3 Because of this constant battle, you will

  180. discover that disobedience is in the nature of the flesh.

  181. Disobedience is inherent in the flesh.

  182. Is the reason they will put an inscription on a freshly painted

  183. wall. OK, wet paints do not touch.

  184. You will not discover that by the reason of that instruction,

  185. do not touch. You will have passed OK if that

  186. description was not there, but now that description do not

  187. touch, is there, the temptation to touch will not be.

  188. So I will now go there and touch.

  189. Has it happened to you before? That is the weakness of the law.

  190. Hello. The law can only serve

  191. instruction. It cannot give the power to you

  192. to be. The law will tell you the crime

  193. and when you are where you go against the law.

  194. OK, it will label you as a criminal, but the law can never

  195. justify you another. Does he give you the power or

  196. the ability to obey instruction? So in the nature of every man,

  197. or in the nature of every man, is the capacity to disobey, the

  198. willingness to disobey, because we are in the flesh.

  199. Romans 8. Let's take 2 verses there too.

  200. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the

  201. flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the

  202. spirit. For to be carnally minded is

  203. dead, but to be spiritually minded is life and words and

  204. peace, but that which will give us life and peace is the one we

  205. find difficult to submit to. So the flesh has its native

  206. attitude. And what is the native attitude

  207. of the flesh? Canality.

  208. That's what I suppose to say. The native attitude, the natural

  209. attitude of the flesh is carnality.

  210. To disobey, to do the wrong things, to hit the forbidden

  211. things, hello, to put on the unacceptable attitude, to be

  212. rebellious, all these are the attitude of the flesh.

  213. And this is so because any tree will grow wide.

  214. I mean, we grow wide branches that must be constantly prone by

  215. the husband man. If you plant any tree, OK, as

  216. long as photosynthesis is taking place, sunlight is available

  217. where dew is is available, and that is space.

  218. You see that the tree will be developing on on all sides.

  219. So it's also in the nature of man to be white.

  220. It's in the nature of man to live a life that is not checked,

  221. a life that is not under control.

  222. A life that whatever I want to do, I would do.

  223. Whatever I want to have, I will have.

  224. Whatever I want to eat, I should eat.

  225. Whatever I want to go, I should go.

  226. No control. So as far as the flesh is

  227. concerned, it cannot submit to God on his own.

  228. The flesh can never decide one day and say, let me go and

  229. submit to God. It cannot do it.

  230. So what is the solution? The solution is not trying

  231. harder in the flesh. We are trying harder in the

  232. flesh. You just discovered that it's

  233. mere religion that will not help you.

  234. The solution is relying on the Holy Spirit.

  235. Relying on the Holy Spirit. Thank God for moral upbringing.

  236. The best that the moral upbringing can do, or the best

  237. that moral upbringing can do, is to suppress the flesh.

  238. It cannot tame the flesh. Moral upbringing cannot subdue

  239. the flesh. By moral upbringing you will now

  240. discover that what is bad that you should not do.

  241. You avoid doing it in the public, but you end up doing it

  242. in the secrets. Am I talking to somebody?

  243. Oh, marital fidelity? Yes, you have one wife, but many

  244. secrets are chick that we are hiding somewhere.

  245. So it is the moral standard of your society that is making you

  246. not to multiply wives, Are you understanding what I'm saying?

  247. Ditto for some alcoholic individual, including people

  248. preaching on the pulpit. So they will not go to be a

  249. parlour to go and drink, OK, I went.

  250. When you enter their living room or their kitchen, you will not

  251. find the alcoholic drink there. But there is a small

  252. refrigerator inside their bedroom.

  253. So they do their own drinking inside their bedroom.

  254. So morale bringer has helped them not to be doing it

  255. publicly, OK, but it cannot help them OK to avoid it completely.

  256. Am I talking to somebody? So the flesh can submit to God

  257. on its own. So the solution to tame the

  258. flesh is not in try harder in the flesh.

  259. It is relying on the Holy Spirit.

  260. Moral training can only suppress the flesh, it cannot subdue it.

  261. So moral training, I'm not saying it's not necessary, it's

  262. not important, I'm not saying it's not helpful.

  263. But we must also identify the weakness of moral bringing.

  264. Moral training is a palliative that is only supportive to the

  265. Holy Spirit. To me, I call that a palliative

  266. that is supportive to the Holy Spirit.

  267. But for you to rely completely or moral or bringing to subdue

  268. the flesh, it doesn't have that capacity.

  269. Say I need the Holy Spirit, I can't hear you.

  270. Well, Galatians 5, let's take 2 verses from that passage too.

  271. And then our Christs have crucified the flesh with the

  272. affections and lost. You know I said not just any man

  273. can walk in the Spirit. That was our starting point,

  274. that was our entry point. Not just any man can walk in the

  275. Spirit because there are conditions president to it.

  276. They are prerequisites. So I am beginning to see now

  277. what are the prerequisites, he said.

  278. And they that are Christ have crucified the flesh.

  279. So you must belong to Christ before you can crucify the flesh

  280. with the affections and laws. That was why after Apostle Paul

  281. met the Lord Jesus Christ, he said all those things that he

  282. counted as game, all those things he counted as player, all

  283. those things that were his pride, He now regarded them as

  284. dunks. They no longer matter to him.

  285. Praise the name of the Lord. If we live in the Spirit, let us

  286. also work in the spirits. Now to drive this issue deeper

  287. for clearer understanding, let me draw a few analogies for us 1

  288. parents that are in the house. Was there any time you

  289. intentionally sit down? Your child?

  290. That my child, this is how to lie and cover hope where you do

  291. the wrong things, as are my parents.

  292. Such periods don't belong here. Am I talking to somebody?

  293. Well, if you want to ask yourself, even before your child

  294. starts to go to school to be influenced by friends, they

  295. already lie and doing things and comfortable.

  296. So who taught them the sinful nature?

  297. Am I talking to somebody? Because the sinful nature is

  298. inherent in every man. So a parent need not make any

  299. deliberate effort to teach a child all the wrong things.

  300. In fact, they will do some wrong things.

  301. And you begin to wonder and, you know, begin you you become

  302. worried and concerned. People let you, Cockney.

  303. But let it be really well. Or what?

  304. I let it back. Cosillo.

  305. Yeah. Cosillo.

  306. Baba. Cosillo.

  307. So apparently not make any deliberate effort to teach a

  308. child all the wrong things. So without intentionally

  309. training the child, a child on his or her own can learn.

  310. Not only learn, can also invent all the wrong things.

  311. Because the worst of us come from inside of us, not for the

  312. things around us. The worst part of a man is

  313. inside that man is not in on his look.

  314. That's why a man can look completely gentle and is the

  315. worst criminal running guns. Where is the charitable man

  316. around Is the best uncle around that Some people will even want

  317. to say, I want my child to be mentored by this uncle.

  318. But when the news now comes out, I will now discover that is a

  319. hard drug dealer is running girl, if you say you know Jio,

  320. are you connecting with me? So to instill good conduct in

  321. the child, the parent must be intentional about it.

  322. So the other one that is wrong OK is in their nature is also

  323. present in their environment. They will pick it up.

  324. But if one good outcome spiritually and morally from

  325. your child, you must be intentional about instilling the

  326. right values, the right values, communicating ethical standard

  327. to them and demonstrating it to them.

  328. You have to be intentional about it.

  329. We are broadcasting more. The reason why working in the

  330. spirit doesn't come natural. It doesn't come what's natural.

  331. There are conditions president to it.

  332. If those conditions are not satisfied, it becomes difficult

  333. to work in the spirit. Let's move from human Kingdom to

  334. even animal Kingdom. Do you know that no animal chose

  335. to be a pet? Go and check it all those animal

  336. you now find in our homes and we keep them as pet.

  337. They didn't choose to be a pet. Somebody brought them home at a

  338. point at A at a very long time in history and released them.

  339. In fact, in modern time there are some of them that they have

  340. to carry out, some about technological activity on their

  341. own moon and other tendencies OK to subdue them so that they can

  342. become domesticated. Otherwise that wide nature is in

  343. every man to range around. So no animal chose to be a pet.

  344. It is by the deliberate effort of man that will not have

  345. domestic animals. What does that suggest?

  346. If you leave the natural man to himself, without the Holy

  347. Spirit, every man is capable of doing the unthinkable.

  348. Did you hear that? Some of you, you only need a

  349. push by an ungodly friend and you do things and people say,

  350. yeah, so you have the capacity to do this manner of evil.

  351. So if you leave the natural man to himself, he won't come to

  352. church to hear the word of God, he won't attend Bible study, he

  353. won't read his Bible. OK, Leave the natural man to

  354. him. Say, without the Holy Spirit,

  355. every man is capable of doing the unthinkable.

  356. I'll give you the example of Moses, regarded as the meekest

  357. man, but in the moment of anger he misbehaved and he provoked

  358. God. Are you with me?

  359. Has it not happened that a lady that you think is the best kind

  360. of wife, that any man we pray for his for, for his son.

  361. Are you with me? And then suddenly you hear that

  362. the lady got provoked and stabbed the husband.

  363. I begin to worry when they say I can't believe no sister.

  364. So, so, so, so. No, no, no, no, no, no.

  365. She's too quiet to do that. It happens because you leave

  366. every man to himself. Without the help of the Holy

  367. Spirit. Every man can do the

  368. unthinkable. So we find mostly the meekest

  369. man, just in a moment of anger he misbehave to the degree that

  370. God said I can't take this. Someone who says 2 verses again

  371. 32 and 33. They angered him also at the

  372. water of strife. If you read another person

  373. called the water of Meribah, so that it went I'll with Moses for

  374. their sakes, because they provoke his spirit.

  375. So that is back on adversely with his lips.

  376. OC so so because the tendency to be canna is in every man except

  377. we are helped by the Holy Spirit.

  378. I put an example to you something the strongest man we

  379. are like his own weakness. He will not control his liberal

  380. inordinate affection. Achieve in him what the entire

  381. army of the Philistine could not achieve.

  382. Please take note of this, it will help you to watch.

  383. Appeal to the flesh is a general weapon the devil uses against

  384. all men. So when did they want to get you

  385. down? When the devil want to attack

  386. you spiritually, when the devil want to make you lose focus of

  387. heaven, when the devil want to make you lose your grip of

  388. Christ. I start to live the carnal life.

  389. What it does is to appeal to your flesh, to Pompey your

  390. flesh, to massage your flesh, and the moment you submit, you

  391. are gone. May the Lord make you strong and

  392. resist whenever the devil is appealing to your flesh in the

  393. name of Jesus. Now, what are the practical

  394. steps of victory over the works of the flesh?

  395. Now down to spelling out the precedent conditions.

  396. To walk in the spirit #1 you need salvation.

  397. You need salvation and you achieve that by being born

  398. again. And when you get born again it

  399. position your spirit to obey the dictates of the Holy Spirit.

  400. Before you got born again. You are far away from listening

  401. and obeying the voice of the Holy Spirit.

  402. But the moment you got born again, one of the things that

  403. takes place spiritually is a repositioning.

  404. You have been far away from God. Now you are drunk closer to God.

  405. You have been living outside the room of God.

  406. Now you are brought into the bedroom of God.

  407. That's what been born again does to you.

  408. Are you with me? So you are reposition OK to have

  409. access to the Holy Spirit. So what to contribute to your

  410. salvation? It's your realization of your

  411. sinful nature. So the attitude that everybody

  412. is a Sinner and therefore I can constantly know they will not be

  413. there. You accept that yes, I'm a

  414. sinful person and I'm helpless over this sinful nature, but

  415. there is one that can help me. Let me go and join myself to the

  416. one that can help me. So your contribution to the

  417. salvation of your soul is the acceptance of your sinful nature

  418. and willingness to assess the earth that Calvary has provided.

  419. So therefore you have a desire to change.

  420. So that desire to change is there, not the deceptive

  421. attitude. I will confess my sin on Sunday.

  422. OK, then I will start to say another set of sin from Monday

  423. to Saturday, A desire for a permanent change, not making

  424. mockery of the provision of forgiveness, because God cannot

  425. be deceived whatsoever. A man saw it, the scripture said

  426. that is what he will read. Can we move on now?

  427. Having satisfied that condition of salvation of your soul, you

  428. now need commitment to sanctification.

  429. Salvation is positional. Sanctification is transitional.

  430. I don't say transactional, I said transitional.

  431. So what's your hand? Once the ticket of salvation is

  432. handed over to you, how do you keep it?

  433. As you are making progress, you must embrace sanctification

  434. because you are not safe to stand in the same position.

  435. You are safe after which you start to make spiritual

  436. progress, but to stay on the track.

  437. It is sanctification that will keep you on the track as you

  438. journey home. So you need commitment to

  439. sanctification by expressing your willingness to always

  440. cooperate with the Holy Spirit who will do the work.

  441. You know, we said it's not by try harder that you overcome the

  442. flesh. It's not by try harder that you

  443. overcome carnality. The way you overcome carnality

  444. is by relying on the Holy Spirit.

  445. So this, the beginning of your sanctification, is your

  446. willingness to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to work in you

  447. to and work on you. You see, as salvation, you did

  448. not contribute more than believing in your heart and

  449. confessing with your mouth to be saved.

  450. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be

  451. saved. That settles it.

  452. So in your heart you believe unto righteousness, with your

  453. mouth to confess unto salvation. That's Roman 1010 paraphrase.

  454. But it doesn't end there. You are on a journey.

  455. You will make it. You are a Pickering.

  456. You will not fall by the wayside in the name of Jesus.

  457. Now for this, let me bring another analogy that will help

  458. you to appreciate the concept better.

  459. You see our salvation. What happened to you can be

  460. likened to starting a car that has been well serviced.

  461. No, when a car has been well serviced, the battery is good,

  462. there is fuel inside. Everything about the car is is

  463. number 1. You know that you did not

  464. manufacture the car, somebody has put the fuel inside it then

  465. be an automatic car as soon as you start it, it is ready to

  466. move once you engage the gear. But you know that if you start a

  467. car and it's the engine is running and you don't engage the

  468. gear, will it move? Answer me.

  469. So salvation is like you are, you have started a car that is

  470. sound, that can move but it will not move if you don't engage the

  471. gear. So being an automatic car, as

  472. soon as you start it is ready to move once you engage the car

  473. that made the gear. Now after you engage the gear,

  474. it will move, will it not? But not in an accelerated mood.

  475. Once we engage the gear, if it's an arithmetic wire, it will move

  476. on its own accord, but the movement will not be in an

  477. accelerated mood except you press Is it the turtle or what

  478. do you call it now? So you will need to press the

  479. turtle for the movement to be accelerated.

  480. So starting the car is is salvation, pressing the tortue

  481. is sanctification. Not only that, the movement of

  482. the car must be tailored is the reason every car has with

  483. steering. You start the car, you engage

  484. the gear. OK.

  485. It will move on its own accord in the direction it is facing.

  486. Are you with me? And if it's reverse, you put it

  487. still in that direction, it will it will be moving when you press

  488. the torto. Pressing the torto does not

  489. change the direction, but it may not be heading in the right

  490. direction. It may be heading towards danger

  491. is the reason there is what this the this channel.

  492. So the whist channel is the reason the car is not just going

  493. in any direction but in the specific or directed direction.

  494. So in the same manner, without the Holy Spirit, a born again

  495. child of God will misbehave. So you can be born again and you

  496. see misbehave if you don't allow the Holy Spirit to pilot the

  497. affairs of your life. That brings us to Romans 814.

  498. As many as are laid by the Spirit of God, they are the sons

  499. of God. So your salvation, therefore, is

  500. preserved or sustained by sanctification.

  501. Your salvation is preserved by sanctification and

  502. sanctification, like I said, is submitted to the Holy Spirit to

  503. help you live the Kingdom life. So where you sustain in

  504. sanctification? You, it will help you to easily

  505. cooperate with the Holy Spirit. Hello, a sanctified mind, OK?

  506. It's the only kind of mind that can cooperate with the Holy

  507. Spirit. So sustained sanctification is

  508. not achievable outside obedience to the Word of God and the

  509. assistance of the Holy Spirit. So it was to say your

  510. sanctification. Then there must be obedience to

  511. the Word of God. And then you must also rely on

  512. the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

  513. So to work in the Spirit, you must accept salvation.

  514. That is a free offer. You must receive the Holy

  515. Spirit. But let me make it clear, a very

  516. strong clarification here. If you understand what we are

  517. teaching, you will know that you don't receive the Holy Spirit

  518. just to speak in tongue, and it ends there.

  519. Speaking in tongue is only the commonest evidence of the

  520. baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is not the only evidence.

  521. In fact, it's not the most reliable evidence.

  522. Are you with me? It is what the commonest.

  523. Even when you study Acts of the Apostle where we have records of

  524. baptism of the Holy Spirit, it's only in few places that the

  525. Bible say they receive the Holy Spirit are not mentioned at the

  526. speaking. They speak in tongue.

  527. So it is the commonest evidence, but it's not the only evidence.

  528. In fact, personally, I don't take it as the most reliable.

  529. The most reliable evidence is the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

  530. So if instantaneous when we minister the Holy Spirit to you,

  531. OK, and you speak in tongues, we will be glad that you have

  532. exercised the situational or the immediate evidence as a

  533. disciple. We will now begin to watch out.

  534. Are you listening to me? Is this still real or fake?

  535. So what we prove to us is this real is where you begin to

  536. manifest the fruit of the Spirit.

  537. But if it is just the speaking in tongue, OK, you can still use

  538. that same tongue to cause conveniently.

  539. You can still use that same tongue to lie conveniently.

  540. That's not checking your spirit. I refuse to accept your speaking

  541. in tongue as a correct one. So let's stop.

  542. Let's stop deceiving ourselves. The commonest evidence,

  543. instantaneous evidence. It gladdens our hearts OK, But

  544. we will watch what follows the way you the day you plant a seed

  545. is not that same day, OK? You will have first the fruits.

  546. So the most level evidence is the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

  547. But let me still make this second clarification.

  548. Speaking in tongue is a necessity for spiritual warfare.

  549. I told you that in our being OK, we are constantly in spiritual

  550. warfare. The flesh is warning against the

  551. Spirit. The Spirit is warning against

  552. the flesh, one of the spiritual instrument.

  553. You used to fight the battles by speaking in tongues.

  554. Because sometimes you just have been prompted to speak in

  555. tongues and you start to speak in tongues and before you know

  556. what is happening, you have escaped a danger.

  557. Sometimes as a prompting you to speak in tongues.

  558. And as you are speaking in tongue, before you know what's

  559. happening, few days after, you'll be exposed to a

  560. temptation you will not know that you have, you will not know

  561. why you escape because you do not prepare for it.

  562. But the tongue you spoke last week, the tongue you spoke in

  563. the morning when you were praying, as prepare you to pray

  564. against the unseen. Are you with me?

  565. So it's a necessity because we are constantly in spiritual

  566. warfare and most of the warfare we are, they are unknown to us.

  567. So it's a necessity for spiritual warfare.

  568. Every believer is in constant warfare.

  569. But don't let our baptism of the Holy Spirit, our engagement of

  570. the Holy Spirit, start ahead with only speaking in tongue.

  571. Let that Holy Spirit we have received walk on us, walk in US,

  572. and make us a change person bearing the fruits of the

  573. Spirit. So to walk in the Spirit as we

  574. draw the curtain on this topic this morning, you must commit to

  575. progressive sanctification, Commit towards progressive

  576. sanctification, commit to aggressive prayer, including

  577. praying in tanks. Three, get addicted to reading

  578. the Word of God and obeying it. So in a timely scale or not

  579. sure, working in the Spirit require your cooperation and you

  580. must equally take deliberate steps.

  581. Walk in the Spirit is an instruction is not a promise.

  582. What in the Spirit is a precept is not a prophecy.

  583. What in the Spirit are you will not fulfill the desires of the

  584. flesh. So it's a demand on you to be

  585. deliberate, to be intentional about your relationship with

  586. your Maker. Philidor chapter 2 2 verses

  587. again to seal or sum it up. Philippines chapter 2 verse 12

  588. and 13. Wherefore my beloved, as you

  589. have always obey, I pray that I will be able to say this about

  590. you. I pray that the only people we

  591. able to say this about me that as I have always obeyed.

  592. What is your testimony? If you ask your pastor, OK, can

  593. you say you have always obeyed when they pick on your parents?

  594. OK, to ask about you, to give an attestation about you, Will I be

  595. able to say as you have always obeyed?

  596. One of the parameter by which walking in the street is mayor

  597. is through the parameter of obedience, Obedience to the word

  598. of God, obedience to authority, obedience to instruction.

  599. Wherefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my

  600. presence only you know this is a level beyond Mora.

  601. Mora that only care about public image, whereas the private life

  602. is. Rodney, I cited examples to you

  603. of how Mora can be so weak in making the man to tame the

  604. flesh. Mora we make him to not drink in

  605. the public but will be drinking in his bedroom.

  606. Mora we make him not to multiply wife, but if we keep multiple

  607. side things in every city you always go to for vacation.

  608. But keep it away from public knowledge.

  609. Not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence.

  610. Work out your own salvation so you have a path.

  611. So what's going to say here? Work.

  612. Actual salvation. It doesn't mean you will get

  613. salvation by work. But like I said, at that point,

  614. when you get the salvation, you are moving on.

  615. You must be committed to sanctification.

  616. So that work OK is sanctification.

  617. With fear I watch, trembling. What they say, what they say I

  618. know movement once the password about born in about Boko, for it

  619. is God which worketh in you both to win and to do of his good

  620. player. So I have not preached religion,

  621. I have no preservation by work, but I have prayed to you how you

  622. can cooperate with the Holy Spirit to bring out the best

  623. that God wants you to be, to bring you to that level whereby

  624. you are you can become like Christ.

  625. To bring you to that level whereby obeying the Word of God

  626. will no longer be a struggle, whereby you will not just be

  627. suppressing the same nature, but by the Holy Spirit you will

  628. subdue the flesh and walk in the Spirit.

  629. God bless you and grant you great grace to walk in the

  630. Spirit in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah.

  631. We believe you'll be blessed by the ministry of this message.

  632. You will do well to be the doer of all you've heard.
