Ephesians pt5 - His Promises Are Yes!!!

You're very welcome to today's Triumph Church podcast.

We pray that you enjoy the message.

I usually after most Sundays, Pastor Amy is in here, you know,

I always ask her, you know, what did you think?

How did I, how did I do? You know, did I, did I shame the

family name? Like how?

How was it? Do you have any input?

And usually she, she loves everything, you know, but she

felt like she would have liked to have heard more about what

our inheritance in Christ is like.

What is that? We have an inheritance with

Christ, right? Like Scripture is clear.

We've looked at in in the book of Ephesians here the apostle

Paul is talking about our inheritance in Christ.

Well, OK, I have an inheritance. I get that, I understand that.

But what is actually in that inheritance?

And the, the difficult part here and the issue is, is that

there's really so much in our inheritance in Christ.

There's a lot like if we, if we came for the, for the reading of

that will, of that inheritance that we have in Christ, we're

going to be here a really, really long time.

Like I, I hope your, your roast in the oven isn't going to burn

right. We'd, we'd be here for a long

time, days, weeks, months. Like our inheritance in Christ

is massive. There's so much to it.

And so in a Sunday, it is impossible to like fit

everything you like. You could talk about one thing

and you know, maybe it maybe another thing, but there's so

much to our inheritance in Christ.

It's just so big. And actually really since we

started this church in September 2023, every single week, whether

you realize it or not, like we're talking about what is in

our inheritance every week and how we can walk in that.

So we've been talking about this since September 2023 and every

week since. There's a lot, isn't there?

And as long as we have this church before Jesus returns,

guess what we're going to be talking about every single week?

We're going to be talking about this inheritance that we have in

Christ and how we can walk in it.

That's what so much of this Bible is about, is our

inheritance. But Pastor Amy was right and I

know she likes to hear that she's right more than once.

She's right all the time. But you can't walk in what you

don't know is yours. So it's important that we try to

reveal the best that we can what is actually in this inheritance

that we have so that we can walk in it.

So I have something that I printed out for everyone was a

little card. I'm going to have the lads in

the back handout for everyone who's here, everyone who's not

here, well, too bad, they can pick it up another day.

No just messing, but on this front, front and back are just

some scriptures for you to look up.

The the first thing on the front talks about our identity and

possession who we are in Christ says that we're chosen in him

Ephesians 14. We're adopted as sons in him.

Ephesians 15 accepted in the beloved Ephesians 16 new

creation in Christ, 2 Corinthians 517 children of God

in Christ, Galatians 326 complete in him Galatians 210.

Like there's, there's a lot like what Christ did on the on the

cross is so big and so vast that I don't even think in this

lifetime we're going to come to a full realization and

understanding. I don't care how long you've

been a, a, a Christian, right? Like Pastor Sam, who was here

earlier in this year in September for our our

anniversary service. He's been pastoring for over 40

years, right? And he's still preaching like

you think after a period of time, it's like, what more do

you have to say, right? It's like, but he's been

preaching every Sunday, you know, and way back when they

used to have like a Sunday morning service, a Sunday

evening service, they'd have a Wednesday evening service.

And he's preaching all those times and he's never run out of

things to say because the inheritance that we have in God

is so amazing and so big. So we're going to try to, I'm

not going to go through all all of this, every part of it this

morning, right? That's for you to take home and

do a little digging, you know, on, on your own time and

hopefully you do. So we're going to be looking in

into, you know, a little bit more of what our inheritance is.

I want to look at again at Ephesians chapter 1 and verse 5.

We'll also have it up on the, the screen there for you.

But Ephesians chapter 1 and verse 5, so as God decided in

Ephesians 1 · chapter mention

advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself

through Jesus Christ, and this is what he wanted to do and it

gave him great pleasure. I'm so glad that God's arm

wasn't twisted behind his back and he.

I have to do this. No, he wanted to do it.

And not only did he want to do it, but it gave him great

pleasure. Well, what is it that gave him

great pleasure? All right?

That he was adopting you. He was adopting you into his

family, and that brought him great pleasure.

Isn't that a nice thought? You brought God pleasure.

Isn't that nice? You brought a smile to his face.

The Bible says that when one person gives their life to the

Lord, when they receive Jesus, all the angels of heaven

rejoice. Right man, You brought God great

pleasure. Amen.

That is good news. So right here in Ephesians 1/5

is what Jesus came to do. What He came to do was to bring

us to God, right? He came to pay the penalty for

our sins. Of course that had to be done.

That had to be done in order to enable the main thing.

And what is that main thing that Jesus came to do is to adopt you

into his family. That's good news, isn't it?

And this, of course, was made possible by Jesus being our our

substitute and paying the penalty for our sin.

And because of that, we each now have been given a choice on

whose family we want to be part of.

We can choose either to be part of God's family, praise the

Lord, is everyone here part of God's family, right.

Or you can choose to be part of another family, which is the

devil's family. If people haven't made an made a

choice and and accepted the sacrifice that Jesus has made,

if they haven't repented of their sin and made Jesus Christ

the Lord of their life, they don't belong as members of God's

family. They're still members of another

family, and that's not a good family.

In God's family, Jesus said, I've come to give life and life

more abundantly. In God's family there's peace

that surpasses all understanding.

There's joy. And joy is different than

happiness, all right? Happiness is our our emotion.

It's an emotion. Sometimes we're happy, sometimes

we're sad, sometimes we're mad, sometimes we're glad, right?

It's an emotion that is an up and down thing, isn't it?

Who woke up happy this morning, right?

Some of us, yeah. Some of us, maybe not, right.

But joy. Joy is rooted in something

different. It's something that the the

devil cannot take away. When you are rooted in Christ,

when you know beyond a shadow of doubt that you are a child of

God, that root, that joy the devil can't touch, that You know

who you are, right? You're in God's family.

But in the devil's family, it's stealing, it's killing, it's

destruction, isn't it? And it's so horrible to to see

that in people's lives. And that's why we share this

good news, because we don't want them to be part of the family,

because we know the end result, that if they don't make a

decision by the end of this natural life, they're stuck in

that family. That's horrible, right?

So we as Christians, like we share this good news.

Hey, I'm a child of God. You want to be in my family,

right? The gospel, it's good news,

isn't it? So let's look at this first part

this morning. We have three parts here.

The first part is the promises of God are yes, in Christ.

This is good in two Corinthians in chapter 1 verse 20 says for

all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ.

Notice there wording is always so important.

I like pointing this out is because it doesn't say for some

of God's promises have been fulfilled right.

It says all. All is very definitive, isn't

it? All means all, like everything.

Everything is included in that. For all of God's promises have

been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding yes.

That's a nice word. Hey Dad, do you think I can have

one of those ice lollies? Yes.

Hey, Dad, do you think we can order pizza tonight?

Yes, right. Hey, Dad, can you give me €100?

Yes, right. It is fun to say yes, isn't it?

For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a

resounding yes. And through Christ our a man,

which means yes, ascends to God for his glory.

So Paul is making something unmistakably clear here.

All right? God is not undecided on His

will, is he? What's his will?

It's good and it's pleasing and it's perfect.

What is His answer to you going to be?

His answer is always going to be yes in Christ.

Every promise has received. Heaven's yes.

Notice the wording that Paul uses again.

He says all of God's promises, not some, not some for you and

some for another person, not the ones that you feel worthy of.

All right? All of them are.

Yes. When you approach your heavenly

Father, if it is good and it is pleasing and it's perfect, what

answer are you going to get? Yes.

Isn't that good news? The Old Testament is filled with

promise, right? Read Deuteronomy chapter 28.

You ever read that chapter? If you haven't, your assignment

today is to go home and read Deuteronomy chapter 28.

There's a lot of promises in there, and that is just as much

a promise to you as it was to Israel back then.

And in the New Testament it reveals the person to whom these

promises are secured in through Christ.

All these promises have been fulfilled, haven't they?

I love what Hebrews chapter 8 and verse 6 says, says.

But now Jesus, our high priest, has been given a ministry that

is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one

who mediates for us a far better covenant with God based on

better promises. Wow.

So everything with God just keeps getting better.

He had great promises in the Old Testament, right?

But all of his promises in the New Testament are yes, if it is

good and if it's pleasing and if it's perfect.

My answer to you as my child is yes.

You don't have to approach God. Oh God, is it your will for me

to be healthy? The answer is yes.

Is it good? Is it pleasing?

Is it perfect? The scripture say by Christ's

stripes you are healed. Is that a promise of God?

Well, his promises are yes. It's good news.

This is the gospel. This means that you don't earn

forgiveness of sin, you just receive it.

What did you have to do for the forgiveness of your sin?

You just received it, didn't you?

You don't pursue righteousness, It's given to you.

You don't earn blessing. You inherit it in Him.

You don't work for authority. You walk in it because you're

seated with Him. This inheritance is amazing.

It's good news. And it's great news to know that

God's response to all of His promises are always already yes,

the second part of this morning is what is included in our

inheritance. Let's read Ephesians chapter 1

Ephesians 1 · chapter mention

and verse three. I think I'm just going to title

this message. Yes, in Ephesians chapter one

verse 3, it says blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ who has done what he has blessed us with every there's

another word that's pretty definitive, isn't it?

Every, every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in

Christ. Wow, this is good news.

It's amazing. Paul says every spiritual

blessing. Does that sound limited to you?

Does that sound like God has put some kind of cap on the

blessings that he's going to do in your life?

Like there's a limit, you've reached your limit.

I'm sorry you've reached your quota for the day.

No more blessings for you, right?

No, he says, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the

heavenly places in Christ Jesus. And why is this?

Notice at the end there it says heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

All right, Well, there's the fine print on the contract

there. If you're not experiencing every

spiritual blessing, right, and it may be a part of your life,

you may be withholding that from God.

I want to encourage you like don't withhold any part of your

life from God. I want His blessing in every

part of my life, not just in one aspect or just in one area.

Like everything from my head to my toes, my spirit, my soul, my

body, like everything Lord have all of Maine, I want to live in

your blessings. That doesn't mean we're not

going to have trials and tribulations in our lives,

right? Jesus said we're going to have

trials and tribulation in our lives, but he always sees us

through. We have his promise that he will

never leave us, that he will never forsake us, right?

His promise is always, yes, you're not stuck where you are.

I don't care what that valley looks like.

You are not stuck if you are in Christ, His blessings are

unlimited. They're always yes, but you need

to be in Christ. Another thing that we why we can

live in these things is because we're adopted into God's family.

You are an adopted child of God. We talked a lot about that, what

adopted means. And one of the things in the in

the Roman Empire with with adoption is there was actually a

stronger tie with an adopted child than there was with a

biological child. A biological child could be

disowned, right, but not an adopted child.

So what is the Apostle Paul telling you?

All right, that God is not going to abandon you.

He is not going to disown you even if you make a very stupid

mistake, if you return to him and repent, just like the

prodigal son that the story that Jesus shared, he is always there

running back to you with open arms.

He's not going to disown you. You can't mess up that big that

your mistake is bigger than the blood and the sacrifice that

Jesus made to pay for that. You can't mess up that big.

This is good news, isn't it? When the apostle Paul says

every, that is exactly what he means.

God has given us every spiritual blessing because you are in

Christ and you've been adopted into His family.

And it's in that position. Why when we read Philippians

419, right, you know this scripture, we're going to read

it from the Amplified Classic. This position is based upon your

adopted position, your position in Christ and your inheritance.

And you have access to this scripture because of that

position. Philippians 419 and the

amplified classic, classic says, and my God will liberally

supply, fill to the foal your every need according to his

riches and glory in Christ Jesus.

I chose this particular scripture because I like how it

says he'll liberally supply. He's not being stingy.

You know, my wife asks, you know, can I have a bite of your

food? Right.

You know, we went out the other night for Valentine's Day and

Thursday went early after, after our meal, you know, she's like,

should we order dessert? You know?

And I'm like, gosh, sure. Yeah.

And so I like, we went to this Italian restaurant, and I like

the tiramisu at this restaurant. And she's like, you know, do you

want to share? And I'm like, no, I don't want

to share. Have your own tiramisu, right?

I'll order one for you and one for me.

I want to have every bite of my tiramisu for myself, right?

And so we ordered tiramisu. I didn't want to be up all

night, so I ordered a decaf cappuccino and they bring out

the tiramisu and I'm like, Oh my gosh, this thing is so big.

It's a massive. We really could have split that.

I could have split it with you as well.

It was a big piece of tiramisu. It was massive, right?

And my God shall liberally supply fill to the full your

every need. He's not going to skimp.

He's giving you this big massive piece of whatever it is that you

want that's good and pleasing and perfect, right?

If it's not good for you, of course a father's not going to

give his child something that's not good for them.

But if it's good and pleasing and perfect and it's good for

you, he wants to bless you. His answer is yes.

And he's not going to skimp. He's not just going to give you

a little bite. Well, here, I'm just going to

give you this, and that's good enough, right?

No, he's going to bring out this massive tiramisu.

He gives liberally, right? You give to God, and He gives

pressed down, shaken together, and running over right, like

massive. He always goes above and beyond

what we can ask or think and can even imagine, doesn't he?

That's just the nature of our Heavenly Father.

It's a good family to be adopted into, isn't it?

It's good news. So when Paul says that God will

supply all your need, where does that supply reach?

Its cap or it's limit? It doesn't, does it?

That's not what Paul is saying. He's saying that God will supply

our every need. Well, what does that encompass?

What do you have need of? Scripture says that He will

provide all of our need. Maybe it's a physical healing

that we need in our body. Maybe we're dealing with things

in our body. God says that he will liberally

supply to the full our need, whatever it is.

Maybe we're having having issues with our our mental health.

God will supply all of our need, whatever it is.

The apostle Paul didn't put a stipulation on here.

There wasn't an asterisk that has fine print.

Well, God will provide all of your need, but right, He just

says he will provide all of your need.

Isn't that great? We've been adopted into a really

great family. There's no family better than

God's family, is there? When Paul says every spiritual

blessing, he's pointing to everything that's been secured

by Jesus on the cross and by his resurrection.

Nothing's been left out. Forgiveness, reconciliation,

restoration, wholeness and provision.

And what is the provision? It's the provision for our soul.

We're a spirit, soul and body, aren't we?

Provision for the soul, our mind, our will, our emotions.

Provision for the body, physical healing and health.

Provision for living. The material things that you

need, God wants to provide for you. all-encompassing.

I don't tell my children I'm only going to provide for you

these things. All right, the other things.

Come on, you don't need clothes. You don't need a new pair of

shoes. I bought those for you 10 years

ago. Look, they're still good.

They're still a little bit right, But I'm but I'm growing

out of them dead. It's OK, right?

We'll just cut off the toe part, right?

You can wear those for another 10 years.

They're fine. They're good quality.

No, every God will provide for everything that we have need of

right? And you don't have to beg.

You don't have to go to God. God, please, what child goes to

their Father and has to beg for provision?

What taught us to go to their Father and beg that they'll

provide for their need? They don't, right?

Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 16. So, So let us come boldly to the

Hebrews 4 · chapter mention

throne of our gracious God and there we will receive His mercy

and we will find grace to help us when we need it the most.

You can go to your heavenly Father anytime like you have an

open door to your heavenly Father.

There aren't business hours. You know, he's not too busy for

you. You know, some people, some

people think, and I've heard people say, ah, sure, God's God

has enough to take care of. He doesn't need to.

No, you have an open door to God anytime, whenever you have a

need. You are never going to bother or

irritate your Heavenly Father. He's never going to say I'm busy

right now, come back later. You always have an open door to

your Heavenly Father. Isn't that good news?

You've been adopted into God's family and we've been given an

inheritance through Christ and God's promises are always yes.

Listen, we're all adults here, aren't we?

And as adults we have to understand that to experience

these things, to walk in these, there's, there's something more.

There's something that we do have to to do.

The Apostle Paul is writing to people living under the Roman

Empire and they understood adoption and an adoption back

then, it wasn't usually small children or or youth, it was

adults, right? They were being adopted into a

family for a purpose, right? They were wanting to take on

whatever the family name is, for whatever reasons, prestige or

the inheritance or whatever it was.

But they were expected that when they became adopted into that

family, that that family wasn't going to have to coddle them and

spoon feed them and change their nappy and do whatever, right?

They're being born into the family of God, US or he being

born into a family to be a productive part of that family.

So Christ does have some expectations for us.

He provided all these things. But if we're not going to walk

in them, if we're just going to stand there and just wait for

the Lord to just dump all these blessings on us and we don't

have to do anything. We don't have to take a step.

We don't have to walk. We don't have to take any

action, right? Nothing's going to happen in

your life. Yes, you've been born again.

Praise the Lord. You at least had faith enough to

take a step to do that, right? But you have to keep taking

steps. You have to keep walking in

Christ. You have to keep abiding in

Christ. And this world is constantly

going to be trying to pull you out from that position, right?

Pull you away from God's promises, pull you away from

Christ. So you're focused on the things

of this world instead of the things of God, right?

It's constant, it's continual. So our part is we have to keep

taking steps toward Christ. There's something we have to do.

The apostle Paul said this in One Corinthians 1311.

He said, when I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned

as a child, But when I grew up, I put away childish things.

When we're children, most everything is done, of course,

isn't it? My daughter's 8 and still, most

days I still carry her downstairs to the sofa.

She's still a child. Pastor Brad, you shouldn't baby

her like that. Sorry.

She's my last kid. I'm going to baby her as long as

I can. But we're not expected to act

like children any longer. The Apostle Paul is telling us

that in this adoption we're not being adopted as a child, but as

an adult and we're expected to walk in this inheritance.

A small child is, is spoon fed everything, but God's not going

to just spoon fed you everything.

There's nothing more that Christ is going to do.

He did everything on his part to do and now he's seated at the

right hand of God in heavenly places.

He's like here lads, this is my inheritance, all right to you.

There's so much in here, but you have to walk in that.

And here we have this, this card here.

There's a lot to it, right? If you want to walk in that,

then what are you going to have to do?

You're going to have to read. Read what it is that God wants

you to walk in. That takes a little bit of

spiritual maturity. You know, a child may want you

to read to them, right? An adult, it's expected that

we're going to read for ourselves.

The third part of this is we access our inheritance through

faith. This carries into what I was

just talking about in Galatians chapter 3 and verse 14.

Galatians 3 · chapter mention

It says through Christ, God has blessed the Gentiles with the

same blessing he promised to Abraham so that we who are

believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through

faith. The inheritance is given by God,

it's secured by Christ, and it's administered by the Holy Spirit

in our lives. But we access that by our faith,

by believing in what it is that God is telling us.

I can tell you I have some money for you.

I have it at my home. If you'll call over tomorrow,

say about like 5 if you want to come over, you know, I have an

envelope and it's full of some euro for you if you don't show

up. I told you about it, didn't I?

But you never showed up to collect it.

Well, how are you going to use that money?

You're not right. You actually have to collect it.

You have to believe one that what I'm saying is true, right?

But then you have to go collect it.

You have to do something with what I told you.

Paul makes it clear that we receive by believing.

We access the blessings of God through our faith.

You place your trust, your faith in Jesus, and you begin to step

into everything that He's given you as an inheritance, not

because of performance, but because of position, because

you're in Him. You received your salvation

because you believed that what you heard was true, and then you

confessed Jesus Christ as your Lord, and then you received

salvation, didn't you? Or receive all of this because

of the position that we have as His children, Romans 817 says.

And since we are His children, then we are heirs.

In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God's glory.

Heirs don't earn their inheritance.

You didn't. You don't earn any of this.

People who receive inheritance are born into it, and

spiritually speaking, you're born again into it.

This is why the enemy fights so aggressively against faith.

Anything faith. The Bible says that without

faith in Hebrews, we cannot please God.

You have to have faith. You receive everything from God

by faith. What is faith?

It's not just some intangible thing.

Faith is just you believing that God is telling you the truth.

If you believe that God is telling you the truth, then you

have something to take a step on, right?

It's difficult to to receive something from someone.

You know they're lying to you. You know they're not telling you

the truth, right? God's always telling you the

truth. His word will never return to

you. Void.

You can have faith in it. If He says it, then you can have

faith in it and the the enemy fights so aggressively against

faith because if he can shake your confidence in Christ, then

he can actually keep you from walking in what is legally yours

as a child of God. He's going to fight really hard

against your faith with everything he can because he

doesn't want you walking in that place.

Because once you start walking as a child of God, it doesn't

just affect you, right? It starts affecting other people

around you. It's that domino effect.

Once you realize who you are in Christ, you walk different, you

talk different, you live different, and people see that

and another domino falls because they love what they see in your

life. They love that goodness of God

that they're seeing in your life.

And then another domino falls and another domino falls.

So how is it that we access these blessings in our lives?

It's by believing and speaking. That's how you step into that.

We access this inheritance by placing our faith in Christ,

which is agreeing with God, what God has declared, and aligning

our thoughts and our words with God's Word.

God's Word is the foundation. Everything outside of this, if

it's contrary to God's Word, then I'm not following it.

I don't care what it is, right? And I don't care who says it.

If it's contrary to God's Word, I'm not following that.

I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that my thoughts

are aligned with God's Word, that my words, that I'm not

speaking against God's Word, right?

If His Word says by Christ's stripes that I am healed, then

I'm not going to speak to my body anything contrary to that.

Even though I may not be feeling well today, I'm going to speak

God's word because what is going to change the way this body

feels like? This is the reality.

I'm not feeling well today. I actually am.

I'm just using that as an example, OK?

I'm not feeling well today, right?

That's the reality of where I am in this body right now.

But what is truer, God's Word or what my body is telling me?

God's Word is greater. God's word Trump's the way this

body feels every single time. I can choose though, what I'm

going to have in my life. I can choose to align my

thoughts, choose to align my words with what my body is

saying. Oh I feel so horrible today.

Oh man, my stomach hurts, my head hurts, my arms hurt, my

legs hurt, like everything hurts.

Or am I going to choose instead to say what God's word, align my

thoughts, and align my words with what God's word says?

Because if I speak what my body is telling me, that's what I'm

going to have, right? If I want to stay in that

position of not feeling good, then sure, I can speak that and

align my thoughts and words with that.

But if I want to actually get better, I'm going to align my

thoughts and words with what God says.

I'm going to believe what he says because that is going to

change what's happening here in my natural.

It's his supernatural working in my body, right?

It's his word and his word we know we have his promise is

never going to return to him null and void, but he's going to

perform what it is that it's sent out to do.

If his word says that by Christ stripes that I'm healed, then

when I speak that out and I believe it, I have faith in that

I'm just going to receive that healing in Jesus name, right?

There's a difference. And Jesus said this in Mark

Mark 11:22

Chapter 11, verse 22 and verse 24.

And we'll close with this Mark Chapter 11, verse 22 and verse

Mark 11:22

24. And Jesus said to his disciples,

have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can

say to this mountain, you may be lifted up and thrown into the

sea and it will happen, but you must really believe that it will

happen and have no doubt in your heart.

Verse 24, I tell you, you can pray for anything and if you

believe that you've received it, it will be yours.

Listen, I'm not talking about frivolous things here.

Scripture says that God will provide all your need, right?

If you need it, then you can believe God for it, right?

This is possible because of who you are.

Through Christ. You've become a child of God.

You've been adopted into his family, and your provider now is

not your job. It's not this world.

Your heavenly Father has become your provider, and everything

that He provides for you is a blessing.

And His answer to you is always yes, isn't it?

It's always yes. It's not about what you can do.

It's about agreeing with and believing what He's done.

It's about aligning your words in agreement and declaring

vocally what is yours as an adopted child of God.

Amen. This is good news, isn't it?
