Garment of Praise | Ps Melanie Politanski

In the last 25 years, things have changed.

I'm sure that there are ones like Kathy and Ilya who hold

dear treasured memories of things that took place in those

253045 years for Dan and Anne that are beautiful.

But on this day of celebration, I want to say to us as a church.

And so would you receive something this morning, Church?

Even before I've said it. If you are.

Open to go. OK, I'm going to receive this

word. Would you just maybe put your?

Hands out and say, OK, I'm ready to receive, ready to receive

church. We would never stop.

We would never Commission to stop praising, put on that

garment of praise. I know the expression is

different today than maybe the era in which you walked in.

Maybe you look at the young people on the Isle or in the on

the altar at the beginning who jump around in a certain way,

but Once Upon a time that garment of praise had an

expression for you. And so I'm going to ask you

this. Morning to receive a garment of

praise because you know what it deals with.

A spirit of. Heaviness.

If you've received that this morning, say I take that garment

of praise and I put it on and I'm going to express it.

I'm going to let it shine out in my life in Jesus name, Amen.

Why would I do this on this day of celebration?

Do you know? It's really important to know

that? Just because.

We do things a certain way in the House of God today doesn't

mean it's always been done that way.

And there were many great ways. Do you know when I came or

before I came into? Church the photo Photographs.

Up in my amazing church in Townsville showed an era of

flags. Who was a part of the Flag era?

It was. Awesome.

Our whole platform was lined with these giant flags and I

have seen video footage on a VHSI know some of you don't know

what that is. But avhs of people coming

forward in the praise of worship and lifting one of these giant

poles and coming down and waving it with their whole body and it

took an incredible expression to say God, you are sovereign and

you are the banner over this area.

And we declare this area for Jesus.

Do you know that that is not dead?

Who was a part of the flag era? Stand up if you.

Waved a flag. Yeah, you did.

Yeah, you did. Don't be afraid to wave your.

Flag today, Kathy and Elia, don't be afraid.

To wave your flag today. The Joy of the.

Lord is your strength. I saw you down the back too.

Don't be afraid to wave your flag now.

When I when I was little, the ultimate praise expression, the

ultimate that I looked at when I was all of my little Evelyn's

age was to be part of the Daughters of Zion.

Come on. Some of you know exactly what

I'm talking about here. Some of you know it came with an

instrument, all right. And in that.

Era from the. Turn of the 70s to the 80s a

huge. Altar like this?

Would be filled with glorious white skirts to the floor and

matching white shirts with a red or purple.

Sash that fell to your side. And a glorious tambourine that

did not have empty. Space.

On. This particular one would have

been streams of ribbons, and as a young girl in the house, I

caught a passion to praise the Lord because women.

Used to. Line this to do this.

If you know the song, you need to help me because it's been a

while. Dad's going to know this one.

It went like this from the rising of the sun to the going

down the sun. The Lord's.

Made is. To be paced.

I'm not going to show the chorus because it involved a spin and

then, and I'm just not that good anymore, but I made it to

Daughters of Zion by 7 because in that era, this is an

expression of how we praised who played a tambourine in church.

Stand up, of course. Look, Anne.

Oh, Trudy, dead. Look.

Don't be afraid like the youth. Jump.

Today, you know, unabandoned. I'm trying to match it.

It's like a it's like a cool backwards jump of some sort.

Chris can do it really well. All right.

No, I'm good and I'm done. And you can take the tramp.

Damn. I was going to say trampoline.

We never did trampolines. We did tambourines but.

Every single era has had a way that they praised, and I want to

ask why did we stop? Young people never.

Stop, don't stop. Do it.

Don't get. Too old.

It's OK, My body doesn't do some of the things that it once could

do either, OK? But at one time.

This is this. Is a huge part.

Of my childhood in the early. 80s everybody could clap.

With enthusiasm come. On if you could clap like that

in that era. Would you stand?

You had a real arm swing. None of these ones.

All these ones, all these ones, they were.

Real. Don't stop praising.

Bring your expression, that praise that hits your youth and

your young adult years. Bring it.

Now when revival broke out in the 80s and I remember it

because I was a church kid, I was there every day of the week.

The whole church would dance. Now my my father-in-law can do

this one really well. He can, even in his 70s.

And many of you know what we're about to do.

And if you did this, I want you to jump on your feet and if you

can do it, do it. And if not, grab the person

beside you and step it out, 'cause we're going to two step.

And that one. Complimented the swinging arms

we were built to praise in every era.

Don't stop when the young people are jumping. 2 step.

When the young people are jumping, climb with your hands.

Wave your flags and play your tambourines.

This is what the word of God says.

It says bring your timbrels. Hello, sounds crazy now.

I was really grateful for that era because it also broke some

super spiritual things off the church, some religious spirits,

because I loved this. It was not uncommon.

We would move in the auditorium. Who was in the era where you

moved in the auditorium? So either you were moving in a

March. Blessing and honor, glory and

power be unto. The Ancient of Days, come on,

you remember. And we would March around the

middle as a church, all right. And those who?

Were really talented. I remember my dad doing this

were two stepping big clapping in that formation.

I can't even do it if I tried, right?

But I could in that era, and I had a tambourine.

So. And then a move of God swept

across our nation and every single one of us no longer felt

restrained or restricted by the the seat in front of us.

We got out into the aisles and we stood on the altar, 'cause we

would go. I went to the enemy's camp and I

took back what he stole from me, and I took back what he Come on.

If you did. That I want you to.

Stand to your feet. Show us how it's done ready

because we're going to show what happens after it of.

Course you didn't. Solely I can see this.

Who just. Put on your garment of praise

are going to have to stomp on the enemy's head.

Keep doing it. It's OK in praise and worship

when you're like. I came in this morning and this.

Is what it? Actually feels like.

The enemy is trying to do it my week.

So in praise and worship where they're going, praise the Lord.

You're going now I can praise. It's OK.

I don't remember the Grapevine. What was the Grapevine song we

used to do you remember? We'd go across the order from

and we'd link arms. Who remembers that song?

Donna. Remembers linking arms and going

across the auditorium. This is how every era has it all

right now. I'm grateful for those eras.

You can hear them puffed because of them.

They are far more energetic than this era.

Because I did not feel that puffed in praise and worship.

Thanks. But I'm grateful for it because

the 90s came along and it changed.

And I remember, I remember the 80s church having a problem with

the 90s younger people. I I get it, it was not as

expressive as the didn't have tambourines and banners.

But that's because we could only pencil jump.

Come on, John, we did, didn't we?

Pencil jumped. We.

Were I'm going to be. A history maker in this land?

Come on. And if we weren't doing that, we

were taking ground in new ways, big stances with our heads.

I'm going to be. The speaker of truth.

To all mankind, it's true. John had magnificent hair when

he did that in that era. But you know.

What kind of? Think about it.

I didn't struggle with any mental health in all the era I

banged my head around. In my era, they were not talking

about anxiety and depression. And we weren't talking about

stiff necks either. We were more concerned about how

long we could grow our hair. So.

That in the. Next meeting.

We could throw it. Around Rachel Collins would have

been the envy of all the girls. All right, in all seriousness,

that spirit of praise that you carried, whatever era, don't let

it be gone. It's OK if we see some head

banging. We won't come and cast it out.

We might check that. But you know what I think

happened? I was really reflecting on this

this week at the end of the, at the end of the 90s, a specific,

specific but very beautiful move of God came through and people

fell to their knees. And we call it a seeker

movement, but I'm not going to get up very well from this.

Just prefacing. But what happened in that era is

we went from praising to this. The problem is is we never got

up. Do you know why?

Because it's hard. Legit what?

What? Proceeded from there was an era

where we actually lacked praise songs.

For those of you who were in the church, you know, we had a big

chunk of time. We had amazing worship coming

out across the planet and no praise.

And so I think for some of us who are from eras of tambourines

and flags and two steps and giant arms, big hair, we forgot

how to praise church. I would like to say I know I've

filled a lot of my time this morning with this, but we can't

forget what God did in us in those eras.

And when the young people backwards jump, it's actually

very comfortable if you give it a try.

It's like relaxed on your knees. We can join them with what God

did and has continued to do and will continue to do in our lives

from here forward. Can I Commission you this

morning to get up, to get up and praise?

Oh, you are right. And while you're on your feet,

why don't you lift a mighty shout of praise to God.

You are worthy, You are righteous, You are awesome God,

and we will continue to praise you.

We will continue to praise you. Hallelujah.

Come on, lift your voice up. We can.

We will continue to praise you. Can I have the creative team

Church don't tarry. While we wait for a ban, because

it doesn't require a ban to praise the Lord, some of you

right now need to start to stomp on the enemy's head.

Some of you right now begin to wave your arms because you're

going to declare He is sovereign and He is Lord.

Some of you need to shake your hands like you've got a timbrel

in your hands and go. You Lord, have delivered me, so

I am going to testify to Your goodness right now.

Some of you need to jump up and down and be reminded you were

called for a purpose and a generation to make a move in

this time. You were asked this and you were

called for this season. Some of you need to rush your

head and say mental health and depression.

You have no say and no place, but I am going to praise the

Lord. Come on.

Because that's what you do when you believe in Jesus.

Come on. Right now we're going to sing

Hallelujah. We're going to praise the Lord.

We're going. To sing praise.

And I don't know what era you came into church.

Maybe you came here today and you went, I'm at the stage of

war, that's OK, that's OK. Whatever the Lord leads you to,

maybe you need, we need to get out of your seat because you

know what? Our altars have been empty

because we forgot to praise. Get out of your seat and praise

the Lord in this house this morning.

Now, because my message requires substance, I've got to give you

some scripture. No, I don't need the pulpit.

I used my phone. That is not something for you to

learn. Bring your physical Bible

church. Bring bring your.

Physical Bible generation who didn't do this?

You have permission to lead our next generation.

Do you know that right now in our nation they are calling us

as believers, as the church, biblically illiterate, because

we don't know our word. But we need you to example how

to open it, how to live by it. Teach us, Teach us.

How to? Read it.

Teach us how to study it. Teach us.

That's another message. Praise Psalm 117.

Verse one says praise the Lord. All your nations extol him.

All your people, What does that mean?

Who here is not by origin or ethnicity?

Australian if you are. Anything else?

But Australian, put your hand up, praise him, praise him in

your language, lift him up. All you peoples extol him, for

he is good in this church. You have permission to praise in

every language. In every language.

Lift him up. 150 verse 6 We have just declared this in song.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Come on Romans 1511. Praise the Lord all you

Gentiles. Who?

Here this morning is a Gentile. You're not of Jewish descent.

Put your hand up. Praise the Lord.

That means you praise the Lord. All you Gentiles let.
