  1. Welcome to Logan City Christian Church Podcast,

  2. where we bring God's Word to you weekly. We pray

  3. what you hear will bring clarity to your situation

  4. and open doors in your life. Enjoy the message.

  5. And last week we were in Isaiah chapter 40, and

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  6. we're not going to turn there because I'm just

  7. going to quickly go over it. We focused on verse

  8. 31, and it talks about, well, I'll read it. It

  9. says, When it says that they shall run and not

  10. be weary, do you know there's a grace and an

  11. anointing? to continue on when we should fail

  12. and fall. There are always times in our life

  13. that we will come to a point where our own sufficiency

  14. is not enough. Can I take it one step further

  15. that those who are called Those who are living

  16. for God have no strength within themselves to

  17. live the Christian life. Now think about that

  18. for a second. We are saved. Born again. We are

  19. made a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old

  20. things have passed away. Behold, all things have

  21. become new. We have been given the gift of the

  22. Holy Spirit. Baptized in the Holy Spirit, speaking

  23. in other tongues. And that there is a power that

  24. resides in us because of the Holy Spirit. And

  25. now we see that in Acts, that when Philip went

  26. down to Samaria, that they saw the miracles that

  27. were done. And they all received the gospel.

  28. But then later on, Peter and John came down and

  29. they were all baptized in the Holy Spirit later.

  30. And so we go through this journey in life where

  31. we get saved and we get baptized with the Holy

  32. Spirit. And not only are we a new creation, we're

  33. a creation that has this energy, a power. Heaven

  34. is inside of me. But as the journey continues,

  35. the devil is always going to put roadblocks and

  36. obstacles in the way and we'll go good and then

  37. something will happen. And there comes a point

  38. in every believer's life where my wisdom and

  39. my strength is not enough. See, Jesus says in

  40. John chapter 15, he says, I am the true vine

    John 15 chapter mention

  41. and you are the branches. And he goes on to say

  42. that every branch that abides in me, I will abide

  43. in him. He goes later on to say that if you abide

  44. in me, you will bear much fruit. Hallelujah.

  45. Now, if the words of Jesus are true, which they

  46. are, I'm not saying they're not, they're true,

  47. that it takes us as a branch, so to speak, to

  48. line up with the words of Jesus. That it takes

  49. me as a Christian, that I am following, the word

  50. of the Lord, I'm getting before him, and that

  51. if I do that, I am coming before God not to tick

  52. a religious box, but I'm coming to God saying,

  53. Lord, I'm nothing but an empty vessel which you

  54. have sanctified and cleaned, and I'm here to

  55. be filled with your anointing for this life that

  56. I am now living. And boy, I tell you what, church,

  57. if I've ever come to this realisation of what

  58. I've just said, it's been probably the last month

  59. more than ever that my cry at home and my cry

  60. at the prayer meetings is, Lord, I need you so

  61. much in my life. God, what you have for me to

  62. do is far greater than what I could ever imagine.

  63. What I can do, what I can think, what I need

  64. doesn't come from my surroundings or my resources.

  65. It comes from heaven. And so when we read in

  66. Isaiah chapter 40, but those who wait on the

    Isaiah 40 chapter mention

  67. Lord, not just attend church. Church attendance

  68. is great. I believe it's a must for every believer.

  69. Not to those who listen to sermons every day

  70. of the week. Not to those that are seeking out

  71. prophecies every day. Not to those that... Those

  72. who wait on the Lord. Church, we need to be in

  73. close fellowship with God. Have to. There's no

  74. other way. When we had that move of God a few

  75. months ago, as amazing as that was, The following

  76. two weeks after that, I felt lost. Because one,

  77. I knew that it was nothing that we had ever done

  78. here. It wasn't man -made, it wasn't manufactured,

  79. it was a sovereign move of God. And because I

  80. knew it was sovereign, I was like, Lord, what

  81. do I do now? Nothing beats being in your presence

  82. like that. God, the way that the body of Christ

  83. over the years has established how to run a church

  84. service, and there's nothing wrong with that.

  85. But God, what my heart desires is just for you

  86. to take over. And so I felt lost. I remember

  87. one prayer meeting two weeks later, after when

  88. the Holy Spirit moved, the cry in my heart was

  89. like, Lord, what do we do? I need your instruction.

  90. I need to hear your voice. And he said, I want

  91. to search every room of your heart. Now those

  92. that have been at the prayer meetings, they've

  93. heard this before. I want to search every room

  94. of your heart. Open every door and allow me to

  95. go in. Every room that has a shut door because

  96. of shame. That Lord, don't go there. How about

  97. we just leave that? And the second thing was,

  98. he says, everything that I've told you to do

  99. and you've sort of put on the shelf, I want you

  100. to start addressing. And when I received this

  101. revelation, this instruction from the Lord, it

  102. brought life into my soul. Because I knew. that

  103. when the Holy Spirit speaks so clearly, that

  104. good things will come if we obey. Now this morning,

  105. if you're here or watching online, and you've

  106. been sitting on the fence for quite some time,

  107. now is a great time to go all in for the Lord.

  108. He's up to something. He's up to something good.

  109. That there is a praying people here in this church.

  110. The Holy Spirit is stirring. And he wants everybody

  111. to be a partaker in the blessing, in the power

  112. and in the mighty works that the Holy Spirit

  113. is going to do. So the Holy Spirit said, I want

  114. to search every room of your heart. Don't leave

  115. anything undone. If you have to write a list

  116. of everything that you're facing and everything

  117. that's wrong and everything that might be not

  118. right in the sight of the Lord, write it down.

  119. Lord, here's my list. I've opened every door

  120. of my heart to you. And then come diligently.

  121. Come faithfully before the Lord. That as it says

  122. in Isaiah, but those who wait upon the Lord shall

  123. renew their strength. That there is an ability

  124. for us to do what we can't in the natural. That

  125. as we wait on God, it's coming, Lord, I'm coming.

  126. I don't have the ability, but I'm here because

  127. you do. That all I am is just this empty vessel

  128. waiting for your power, for your presence, for

  129. your glory to be in my life. That as we wait

  130. on the Lord, we're coming to him knowing that

  131. God is faithful. And because God is faithful,

  132. we can come to him with a heart of faith, knowing

  133. and expecting, God, you're going to move on my

  134. behalf. God, you will move. Church, there is

  135. nothing better in this world than having the

  136. presence and power of God in our lives. Let me

  137. tell you, if you're here and you're distracted

  138. by the world, there's nothing better that the

  139. world can give us. Nothing comes close. Everything

  140. is just pretty lights and a false facade and

  141. behind it all is death and darkness. That's all

  142. the world has to offer. But in Christ there is

  143. everything. Hallelujah. Praise God. Now Galatians

    Galatians 5 chapter mention

  144. chapter 5. That's a pretty long intro. Galatians

    Galatians 5:16

  145. 5 verse 16 says, I say then walk in the spirit

  146. and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

  147. For the flesh lusts against the spirit and the

  148. spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary

  149. to one another, so that you do not do the things

  150. that you wish. Can I just say, how many times

  151. do we do the things that we don't wish to do?

  152. You know the answer to that is walk in the Spirit.

  153. God, I've got such a busy day, but the most important

  154. part of my day is being with you. Walking in

  155. the Spirit. Because it says, walk in the Spirit

  156. and we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

  157. That every door that we open in our heart and

  158. things that we may struggle with. That when we

  159. start abiding in Christ, when we start coming

  160. before God, when we start waiting on the Lord,

  161. when we come to that point in our life that I

  162. am insufficient, I really don't have anything,

  163. but God, your spirit in me. Oh Lord, church,

  164. if we can come to that point of surrender, boy,

  165. will we see things change. Chains will fall off.

  166. Things that we've struggled with for years get

  167. dealt with. And there is such freedom. Praise

  168. God. Verse 19. Now the works of the flesh are

  169. evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness,

  170. lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,

  171. jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,

  172. dissensions, heresies, envy, murders. drunkenness,

  173. revelries, and of the like, and there's a lot

  174. more. Of which I told you beforehand, just as

  175. I told you in times past, that those who practice

  176. such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  177. Now let me just clarify something here. When

  178. it says that those who practice it is those who

  179. choose... To do it and think it's okay. That

  180. there is the intent of the heart is behind their

  181. sin. If that makes sense. Where there are people

  182. that are struggling, there is the grace of God,

  183. absolutely. Where you could be here and, Lord,

  184. my mouth gets me into trouble every second of

  185. the day, but God, I know it's wrong and I'm coming

  186. to you, that there would be a day where my tongue

  187. is bridled. Or, Lord, what I watch is just horrific,

  188. but God, I'm coming to you and I'm not making

  189. excuses for my sin. But Lord, as I wait on you,

  190. I need help. God, there is no excuse and I'm

  191. coming before you with accountability. That is

  192. different to what the scripture here is saying.

  193. Now, moving on, verse 22 says, but the fruit

  194. of the spirit, the fruit of what? The spirit.

  195. Now, in verse 19 and verse 22, Apostle Paul is

  196. bringing out here a difference in two types of

  197. evidence, I guess you could say, that might be

  198. in a person's life. There is the evidence, or

  199. as he says, fruit of the flesh, the lust of the

  200. flesh. But then he goes later on to say in verse

  201. 22 that there is a total opposite evidence in

  202. someone's life for those who are connected and

  203. walking in the Spirit. And so... When we are

  204. walking in the spirit, it's not because we said,

  205. sorry, Lord, and then said, God, I'm never going

  206. to sin again. That doesn't work. How many of

  207. us have said that and failed the next day? There's

  208. three honest people in the house of God this

  209. morning. But I've been there once. I've been

  210. there a thousand times. And it is not by saying

  211. sorry and in our mind thinking I'm never going

  212. to do it again. Because the scripture says the

  213. total opposite. Apostle Paul is giving us a beautiful

  214. key to walk in victory. He's saying it's not

  215. in our strength, but it's in the Spirit. Church,

  216. for those of us here this morning, for those

  217. of us online, that get before God and God, I

  218. wait on you. That is the key for someone to walk

  219. in the Spirit. For that person that waits on

  220. God and has the Word of God out and is searching

  221. the Scriptures because it is bread, it is life

  222. to my very being. Oh, God is doing something

  223. good in that person. I can guarantee you. That

  224. that person that seeks God. that puts God before

  225. the busyness of life, that understands that in

  226. him alone is all the goodness and the fullness

  227. of joy, that is a person that is walking in the

  228. Spirit. I can recount the amount of times where...

  229. And I'll give you one example where I was, in

  230. my truck driving days, I used to listen to YouTube

  231. like every, like truck driving's boring, gee

  232. whiz. So I listened to YouTube, right? You'd

  233. play a... I'd play sermons off of my phone, come

  234. through the truck speakers, and there would be

  235. moments where listening to great men of God preach

  236. the word. And there's such an anointing in what

  237. they're saying. And you feel the presence of

  238. God in the cab of the truck, and it's amazing.

  239. But I never got before God myself. And the mistake

  240. I made was I always relied on these men of God

  241. and their sermons to sort of pick me up. And

  242. that anointing that I would feel, that sort of,

  243. it was like leaving off two minute noodles, so

  244. to speak. When if I just got before the presence

  245. of God, he had a three course meal waiting for

  246. me. And so church, our success. The secret to

  247. spiritual success is connecting with God ourselves.

  248. See, everything that we do in laziness never

  249. really produces anything. Tell me one thing that

  250. laziness has produced that's good in our lives.

  251. Nothing. Jesus says, go and make disciples of

  252. all nations. A disciplined one. One that hears

  253. the teachings of the Lord. and does them. See,

  254. James says, but be doers of the word and not

  255. hearers only. See, I sat in the presence of God

  256. in that truck, but I was just a hearer. Never

  257. put anything into practice. And so I never really

  258. had any results in my life. But church, the moment

  259. I started getting before the Lord and God, you

  260. are so precious to my life. God, you are my all

  261. in all. Without you, I have nothing. My life

  262. changed. When I could consistently get before

  263. the Lord, I started bearing the fruit of the

  264. Spirit and not the evidence of the flesh. Matthew

    Matthew 6:5

  265. chapter 6, verse 5 and 6 says this. And I just

  266. want to really encourage you. I feel like what's

  267. going to separate the church of Jesus Christ

  268. from other churches is a praying church. A church

  269. that actually knows the voice of the Lord. And

  270. we have prayer meetings every Tuesday from 6pm,

  271. every Thursday morning 9am, and every Thursday

  272. night from 6 .30pm. And that's great. Please,

  273. can I encourage you to come because they're powerful.

  274. We are in the presence of God every meeting.

  275. We have broken through and it's just amazing.

  276. But to add on top of that, if we are only praying

  277. on a Tuesday or a Thursday, that's sort of not

  278. what Jesus is after. As good as it is, and corporate

  279. prayer is amazing, But Jesus says, but you, when

  280. you pray, go into your room and when you have

  281. shut your door, pray to your Father who is in

  282. the secret place. And your Father who sees in

  283. secret will reward you openly. Church, what Jesus

  284. said in Matthew chapter 6 goes hand in hand with

    Matthew 6 chapter mention

  285. Isaiah, that those who wait upon the Lord, those

  286. who come into the secret place where God is,

  287. Where God is. I sort of wonder and think, God,

  288. you've always been waiting for me in the secret

  289. place. How many beautiful moments have I missed

  290. in my life because I was too busy or too lazy

  291. or too distracted? Me, Pastor Gus. How many beautiful

  292. moments have I missed? See, in the secret place,

  293. it's a place where we get to know God and we

  294. get to receive from God. Can I say that again?

  295. We get to know God and we get to receive. from

  296. God. John 17 .3 says this is eternal life, that

  297. they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus

  298. Christ whom you sent. It's amazing to be a preacher

  299. or a musician or an evangelist or all these things,

  300. but it means nothing if we don't know God. Coming

  301. to church and being with each other and enjoying

  302. each other's company, encouraging each other

  303. is amazing. But the whole reason we gather together

  304. is because we should know God. That is our corporate

  305. bond. That's what brings us together, the spirit

  306. of God in me and the spirit of God in you. That

  307. we know God, we fellowship with God throughout

  308. the week when we come through these doors that

  309. that corporate anointing is so strong. Because

  310. we know God. Amen. All of my breakthroughs. Let

  311. me just say this and if I can grab your attention

  312. for one sec. All of my breakthroughs in my life

  313. have been because I met with God. And I kept

  314. meeting with God and I didn't give up on meeting

  315. with God until I got my breakthrough. Every single

  316. time. Every revival that took place on the face

  317. of the earth, from the book of Acts right till

  318. to the very last ones, is people sought God.

  319. They met with God. Nothing else. They didn't

  320. write books. They didn't get degrees. They didn't

  321. go to six different Bible colleges. Now all those

  322. things are good. They didn't open a bookstore.

  323. They didn't buy every book in the bookstore and

  324. watch every sermon that's on YouTube. They didn't

  325. listen to every prophecy that's out there. These

  326. people knew God. And church, we are at a point

  327. in our life we need to know our God. We have

  328. to. There is no option. If you're lacking here

  329. this morning in your prayer life, And you know

  330. you're not where you should be with God. By the

  331. grace of God, can I encourage you? God loves

  332. you. His plan for you is amazing. And it doesn't

  333. matter what's happened in the past. Today is

  334. a new day in Jesus Christ. Can I encourage you?

  335. Seek God. Get excited for God. Get excited for

  336. what He wants to do in your life. And if you

  337. come before Him, get before the Lord, wait on

  338. the Lord, then the freshness of God will fill

  339. you. Every bit of dead weight will be gone. Hallelujah.

  340. Last scripture, Hebrews 4, verse 14. I love this

    Hebrews 4:14

  341. part of Hebrews. It always encourages me. Hebrews

    Hebrews 4:14

  342. chapter 4, verse 14, 15 and 16 says this. Seeing

  343. then that we have a high priest. Who has passed

  344. through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God. Let

  345. us hold fast our confession. Who's our high priest?

  346. Jesus is our high priest. Hallelujah. So hold

  347. on to that. Because 15 and 16 make sense because

  348. Jesus is our high priest. So because Jesus, the

  349. Son of God, is our high priest, let us hold fast.

  350. Our confession. For we do not have a high priest,

  351. which is Jesus, who cannot sympathize with our

  352. weaknesses. Right? So he understands what we

  353. go through. Was in all points tempted as we are,

  354. yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly

  355. to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy

  356. and find grace to help in our time of need. Now.

  357. Jesus, our high priest, right, understands what

  358. we go through in life. So one, that encourages

  359. me. That our life can be up and down and up and

  360. down and up and down when we're good and then

  361. something bad happens and we're down and all

  362. that and we go good for a while, then we might

  363. sin and then we get back up and then we're going

  364. again and we might think, God, what's the point?

  365. Do you even believe in me anymore? But Jesus,

  366. our high priest, understands. Hallelujah. I praise

  367. God for that. He is understanding. Yet he passed

  368. the test. Because he passed the test, verse 16

  369. says, The throne of what? Grace. Does that mean

  370. we deserve to be there? No. But because of grace,

  371. we can. Amen. And so it says, therefore, let

  372. us come boldly to the throne of grace that we

  373. may obtain mercy. Boy, do we need mercy and find

  374. grace to help in our time of need. Church, if

  375. you are looking for a fresh start this morning,

  376. come boldly to the throne of grace. Thank you

  377. for joining us. We pray God's richest blessing

  378. on your life. If you haven't already, make sure
