Hello and welcome to another segment of Real Talk Friday.

Today we're going to do a bit of a behind the scenes and we welcome our viewers, listeners

and everyone that's joining us today.

We have a little segment called Behind the Scenes that we thought we'd just bring to

you because this helps us show you what we actually do in our show, the planning that

takes place and try to bring relevant contents to you because we want to educate you in the

best way possible and also educate ourselves because we've really been blessed by the people

that have come to the show and told us some amazing testimony and stories.

I am so blessed listening to them.

It's so amazing.

But we've started a new segment, we want to start a new segment in the future and I see

you have a paper there with a bit of writing so I'll let you explain to our listeners

what it's all about.

Yeah, okay.

Well, to all our viewers out there, Genetics in the Bible is going to be the new series.

We're going to do a few different topics about genetics relating it to the Bible.

It's going to be really, really great.

Amazing.

So, some of you, you know Rohan as our host.

Yeah.

But for others...

I hope so.

I hope they know.

Yeah, yeah.

Well, for others, they actually know him as Dr. Rohan Raphael Das.

And so, yeah, so Rohan, did you want to explain to our viewers a bit of your education as

a doctor, where you really fit in the medical field and all that?

So talk about your study.

Well, so of course I came to Australia.

This is a couple of years ago.

And I came to do studies here.

But I studied in the field of biomedical research and a lot of my research focused on genetics

because that was my major.

So my major was in genetics and molecular diagnostic.

Molecular diagnostic.

Yeah.

Sounds tricky.

It's fun.

It's really fun.

Okay.

It's just kind of like a level two of genetics.

It's just talking about how you can diagnose certain genetic conditions.

And it's a lot of studies to do with genetic conditions.

And it's amazing because I had, of course, amazing professors.

So I studied at Bond University on the Gold Coast.

Okay.

And really good professors who really helped me kind of understand genetics in a fun way.

Yeah, cool.

And it does play a role when you have teachers that actually teach you in a way that you

actually love to learn because then sometimes our experience kind of gives us our perspective

on how good that subject is.

Very true.

If you have the worst teacher, you'd be like, oh, I don't want to do this subject.

I was blessed to have good teachers.

And I love genetics.

And I went on to study that and then I was like, wow, I want to explore more, if I can,

on genetics.

So I worked on a research project that talked about PARP, P-A-R-P, which is polyadipy ribose

polymerase.

Okay, yeah.

It's an enzyme.

Okay, I've never heard of that before, but yeah.

So what it does is, you know, when your cell dies in your body, we have a process called

apoptosis, which is natural cell death.

So essentially your body just kills the cell because it's useless.

Okay.

And this is also done in a cancer cell.

So if a cancer cell becomes useless, it kills itself.

Righto.

And the process is governed by, you know, a complex method, but one key enzyme that

plays a role in this is polyadipy ribose polymerase, P-A-R-P.

Okay.

There are 14 families of it and different cancer cells expresses different kinds of

PARP.

Yep.

So what you can do is kind of make that a marker so that your chemicals can land on

that cell and attach to that cell.

Like a red flag.

Like a red flag.

It's kind of like just putting a flag there and this is a damaged cell.

Okay.

And so my project was working on that.

So it involved a lot of computational models to see what chemicals can bind to that.

And then you can essentially use that, you know, mechanism in chemotherapy.

And that's going to help, you know, kill that cancer cell, but not affect normal cells.

Okay.

Because where we see a lot of chemotherapy, it basically attacks everything.

It's a very invasive process.

Yeah.

Okay.

Whereas what you're working on is a type of chemotherapy that doesn't attack the whole

body, but it just attacks those red flagged cancer cells.

Yeah.

Smart.

I got it.

Very, very interesting.

That was my project.

And later on did my further studies on it.

I worked with, you know, big machines.

Yeah, cool.

Analytical chemistry machines.

Wow.

Got, you know, trained in it.

And a lot of studies, I would say.

Well, believe it or not, I've worked on big machines, but they're outside and they dig

dirt.

This one digs dead, but in a very molecular level.

It does the same job.

Yeah, molecular level.

But yeah, I worked on that and I feel like we have some great segment that we're going

to talk about.

Oh, we will.

And genetic is a very broad topic.

Yeah.

But I love it because when I look at genetics, I look at, I see how great our God is.

Yeah.

Sometimes we look at genetics and we look at science and we look at religion and we're

like, no, these things don't compliment.

But I think they do compliment.

You know, we use science to understand how amazing God is in his creation.

And there's a lot of things in science that we believe in faith.

You know, it's just...

As a scientist, you take it by faith.

Of course.

Yeah, wow.

I haven't seen atoms, have I?

But we believe it's there.

Yeah, true.

Haven't seen it.

Yeah.

Haven't touched it.

Yeah.

Haven't like, but we believe it's there.

Yeah, yeah.

It's by faith we believe.

The same thing with, you know, the Bible.

We walk by faith, not by sight.

That's right.

And that's what God calls us to do is have faith in him.

Yeah.

And I feel that compliments.

I don't know why people, you know, don't see that.

I wouldn't say people, a lot of people, some people don't see that.

No, that's right.

But it does compliment each other so well.

And I guess others don't want it to compliment.

If someone doesn't believe in God and doesn't want to believe that there is a God that sent

his son to die for the sins of the world and that, you know, whoever believes in him shall

be saved.

If they hate the thought of that, of having to repent and live a holy life, I guess, well,

then evolution is a perfect theory or life choice, I guess you could say.

Yeah.

To disprove truth.

Oh, for sure.

And so this is a beautiful thing of what we're going to get into, genetics and the Bible.

A few things that I will quickly share with our listeners is we can get into, well, what

we will get into is just the basic understanding of genes, like what are they, how they operate,

gene structure and the science behind it, reproduction, genetic breakdown from generation

to generation.

I remember you shared with me one time that was incredible.

Yeah, yeah.

And we're looking at it more in the biblical perspective because, you know, the Bible,

you know, we have to understand this and what people really fail to understand is when we

look at Genesis being written, we have to think about when it was written.

It was written at a time where science wasn't a thing.

No, that's right.

But if we look at how it's written and the seven days of creation and we see the way

the author has described each day of creation, we can see it's perfectly laid out of how,

you know, Adam and Eve was created and before that, what happened for them to be created.

There was a process.

Exactly right.

And there was day, there was night.

There are so many things that in the Bible, it's only by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit,

I believe, and inspiration of God that this would have done, would have been created.

No, no, exactly right.

And so we're going to get down into creation, Adam and Eve, generations from there.

It's going to be fantastic.

So and if anyone's going to talk about genetics, it's going to be this man here.

I'm so pleased to be hearing that.

And viewers, just to let you know, ages ago, before we were doing podcasts, before we started

working together in the ministry, when I first met Rohan, we started talking about this at

a burrito bar.

Yeah, that's true.

Yeah.

Eating Mexican food.

Yeah, and talking about genetics.

And it really, the Holy Spirit inspired this long ago.

Yeah, for sure.

And I remember saying to Rohan, because he was saying he feels the call of God for ministry

and that.

And with genetics in the Bible, Rohan, this is later on, this is going to prove itself

to be such an evangelistic tool.

Yeah, exactly right.

I think that's very great because I remember sitting down and we were talking about such

amazing thing.

Yeah.

And I told you so many things and you're like, wow, I've never heard this before.

No, no, that's not.

And I was like, wow, I didn't know people don't know about this.

But I think like I shared what was in my heart and sitting and studying and looking at how

delicate and how amazing things are made in this world.

I fail to believe there is no creator.

Yeah.

There is a creator.

It is so perfectly laid out, perfectly made.

And there's a purpose for every single thing in our body that tells us there's a purpose

in our life too.

That there's no accident in what we have as a human being.

And it's just amazing that genetics.

So as I said, science and religion or science Christianity, they complement each other in

my perspective very well.

And so this is going to be the blessing coming to our viewers to see both of these things

that were actually a taboo.

Yeah, yeah, very true.

In previous years are now actually as the technology of science advances, we're actually

seeing more and more truth in God's word than a lot of theories of the world.

That's very true.

And you know, just thinking about the Human Genome Project, which was done in the early

2000s, cost millions of dollars to do.

They took DNA from a human body and they tried to get information from every single strand

of DNA and form of ATGC codes and they made they had a hard drive full of that code.

And it cost millions of dollars.

Now you can do it for less than $100.

And you can take a cheek sample and all your DNA is in that you can get your DNA incredible

and it's become cheaper.

So this field is of course a very brand new field because things have become less expensive.

And you know, it's amazing after COVID and everything how cheap these machines have gotten

because when you do a PCR test, you're actually doing some sort of DNA looking at RNA strands,

which is in the viral.

Viruses usually have RNA, which is a single nucleotide.

So ribonucleic acid.

That's another one that went over my head.

And human beings have DNA, which is deoxyribonucleic acid.

So this is a strand of DNA.

So when they looked at RNA, they had to use very similar technology using the PCR machine.

So it's become cheaper and COVID has made also things cheaper when it comes to DNA analysis.

So I'll be honest with you.

I think this field is booming and we don't know a lot about it.

We know, I would say less than 20% of what the DNA stands for, even way less than that.

I can tell you that.

But we're starting to learn it's like God's put that information in us and his creation.

He's like handwritten these things and he's put it in.

And you know, there's something very exciting you shared with me.

And of course, I knew it, but kind of didn't put it into perspective was if you take your

DNA and you unwind it and you said, how long does it go from Earth to Pluto?

Yeah, that's right.

Amazing.

Yeah, talk to Google.

I knew it was long, but didn't put it into perspective of how long that is.

Yeah, that's right.

In the human DNA strand, apparently it's something ridiculously long.

So yeah, well, there's a lot to discover.

But I believe and I know God is the creator of all living things.

Yeah.

His word is true.

There is no fault or lie in God's word.

And I truly believe that as technology advances, especially with genetics and DNA, is that

truth of God's word will get closer and closer to science as it advances.

Yeah.

And it's at the end of the day, no matter how hard people try and suppress truth, it

always comes to the surface.

Amen to that.

Yeah, that's very true.

Yeah.

I think, you know, sometimes, you know, when we buy, you love cars.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I can't afford a good one, but I like them when I see them.

And you've been a great help with my car because you know so much about cars.

Yeah.

You've helped me fix my car.

But when we were fixing my car, I realised we kept on looking at the manual just to see,

you know, how much oil it needs, what kind of filter it needs, whatever it needs.

We're following that manual to fix that car.

And if we did not follow that manual, we wouldn't know which oil, we know which filter, we would

completely damage that car.

So it is based on a set of instruction.

And I feel the Bible is that set of instruction for us.

Absolutely.

We are like a mechanical object.

And the Bible really helps us understand who we are, because that's our manual.

We should go back to it.

What is the purpose?

What does this do?

What does that do?

Absolutely.

That's very important.

I mean, looking at, you know, life, it can be very challenging.

Very.

But we have a set of instruction that is right there.

And some people want to damage the car by not following that instruction.

Yeah, no, that's right.

And that's sad.

Well, unfortunately, some of these people that are damaging the car, so to speak, some

of our top scientists and...

Oh, yeah, for sure.

Yeah, but it is what it is.

As we're playing God, we think we know how to fix that car.

We don't know how to fix that car, because it's only the inventor and the creator that

actually knows what that car is and how he designed it and what it's meant to do.

And that's the set of instructions we get.

So anyone that loves cars, that's kind of, you know, telling you...

Yeah.

There you go.

We need instructions.

We need instruction.

God's Word is our instruction.

We follow it.

Truth is going to always come out, and God's Word is truth.

Yeah, amen.

So, yeah.

Great.
