Thankful for the Blood of Jesus

Hebrews chapter 9 is where we're going to take our text today.

And to be honest with you, I've had for a couple months now,

I knew I was going to preach a Thanksgiving series.

And I'm still going to do that. But initially, I already had it planned out

that I was going to do first sermon on Thanksgiving, on thankfulness.

Second service is going to be on gratefulness and gratitude.

And then the last sermon was going to be on generosity. I had it planned out for a few weeks.

But I was out on a walk this past week And I get up before daylight and go walking

Because, you know, you get old I can't run and jump and all that anymore So

I go for a walk I don't lift weights because they're heavy.

But I get out and I walk and pray and do all that And I was just in prayer I

was in prayer for the church, our church And then it's just I got a burden for the Church of America,

And it just seems like we preach such a watered-down gospel anymore in America

And so, man, the Lord started dealing with me. And so I'm still preaching a Thanksgiving series.

But today I'm preaching on I'm thankful for the blood of Jesus.

Next week I'm going to preach on I'm thankful for the Holy Ghost.

And the final one is I'm thankful for the New Testament Spirit-filled church.

And so, because I still believe that. I still believe that. Because you're going

to have people that tell you, well, I don't know if this is in the Bible and that's in the Bible.

And you're going to have to be able to defend that this is the way the church began in the beginning.

Amen? I don't care what America is trying to turn it into, but this is the way

the church began in the beginning. We're going to talk about that.

So Hebrews chapter 9, we're going to take our text today.

The Bible says, How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal

spirit offered himself without blemish to God,

purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living god therefore he is

the mediator of a new covenant so that those who are called may receive the

promised eternal inheritance,

notice there at the very beginning of the text that we read how much more will the blood of christ.

Hey if you if you lose the blood of jesus you've lost salvation,

if you lose the blood of Jesus then you've lost the gospel message if you lose

the blood of Jesus you've lost the power to break every chain,

cover every sin and open every door, that's what you've lost right there,

so I'm going to preach this morning on this subject, thankful for the blood

of Jesus, how many people is thankful for the blood of Jesus,

I'm thankful for the blood of Jesus let's pray as we open up,

Father in the name of Jesus we come before you, we thank you,

thank you for your blood Jesus thank you for your son

father that you sent to shed his blood and father

right now i just ask you that you would open our hearts open the

eyes open our ears of understanding right now

and speak a word one word that you speak can do so much for so many people and

so holy spirit right now speak to me come on make that personal right now say

holy spirit speak to me holy spirit speak to us individually and corporately

in this house and we thank you in the name of jesus we pray and the church said amen amen.

Grateful for the blood of Jesus Christ. Now, kind of this thesis that I'm going

to try to prove to you today, and I really do, I believe this is original.

I think I came up with this. I don't think I heard it in a song.

I don't think this is something that popped in my mind.

I don't think I heard anybody say it, and I just remembered it,

because if you talk to my wife, she'll tell you, I don't remember anything anybody says.

And so, but this is kind of what's been in my spirit all week,

and I've said it several times already this morning, but the blood of Jesus

breaks every chain, covers every sin, and opens every door to God.

And that's kind of what I'm going to set out to prove to you today.

Now, guys, we live in a changing world. I mean, we do. Our world is changing so much.

How many people over the age of 40 do we have in here? I know Hannah's mad because

she said, well, you do 45 this service. No, over there. Okay.

So if you're over the age of 45, isn't our world changing?

I mean, if you're under the age of 40, maybe you're like, yeah, it's crazy out there.

No, you don't even know because it's changed a lot in the last 50, 60, 70 years.

And I was thinking about that this week. Last weekend, I was up in Charlottesville,

Virginia. We had some business to take care of.

And so while we were up there, we went ahead and spent some time with our son,

who's living in Charlottesville, going to school up there.

And we went to Trader Joe's. How many of you guys have been to Trader Joe's?

You guys been to Trader Joe's? Yeah.

So some of you guys have been to Trader Joe's. I love Trader Joe's, right?

So they have like organic stuff and they got all this stuff.

So I don't buy any of that, right? I buy the dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

That's what I go to Trader Joe's for.

And so I got to explain this scene to you because a lot of you guys hadn't been

to Trader Joe's. Just so you guys give you some context.

We don't have any Trader Joe's around here, okay? And so if we go to Trader

Joe's, you got to drive. And so if you're visiting a big city,

you got to go to Trader Joe's. We don't have one, all right?

But Trader Joe's, just to set the scene for some of you guys who have never

been to Trader Joe's, it's a really cool place. Like I said, a lot of organic stuff.

Everybody in there is kind of like cool. and I set the scene.

Everybody wears yoga pants, but nobody does yoga.

You know what i'm saying and nobody wears deodorant

because it's got aluminum in it and and all these other kind of i'm i'm

messing all right i'm i'm just joking around with you

and so i'm in trader joe's and hey listen

i'm not hating on you if you rub that cream on your underarms all right all

power to you i'm using a stick okay but anyway anyway so so i'm in trader joe's

and i go and i get my two boxes of uh of dark chocolate peanut butter cups and

i carry them up to the checkout counter and this is this is how our world's

changing i remember i pulled out a $20 bill. I hardly ever carry cash.

Somebody had given me cash. The peanut butter cups were about 12 bucks.

And I thought, well, here's a good opportunity to spend cash.

So I pulled out a $20 bill.

I stuck it out toward the person working the cash register. And he looks at

me and he goes, he goes, whoa, are we doing this?

Are we doing this? And I just kind of looked at him.

He's looking at this $20 bill that I'm holding out. And he repeats it.

He's like, because my son's with me and I guess I

guess he's looking at my son like once you do something with your old man and

we're in Trader Joe's and so so he looks at me he goes he goes looks again he

says whoa are we really going to do this and and he looks at and he makes this

statement he said did you drive an antique car here I'm holding out a $20 bill

and so and if you don't know this listen the.

But before Jesus, my native language was smart aleck, all right? I speak it fluently.

And so I try, you know, Jesus helps me out with that. But when he said that

in that moment, I just reacted. You ever just react?

It's like when the doctor hits your knee and it just kind of reflects.

That's kind of what happened to me. And I said, no, I'm on a mission to teach

a younger generation to do mathematics one person at a time. And I pointed at him.

And my son's like, oh, my gosh, he just said that. And he said,

okay, I guess we're doing this. And he takes my money and he goes,

man, this world is changing.

It really is. And the inability to use cash and for people to do mathematics, they cannot change.

That's really not a big deal, though. It's really not a big deal.

The biggest change that really breaks my heart and concerns me is the fact that

the church of the living God has lost track of what the blood of Jesus really means in our lives.

That we can walk into many churches across this nation on any given Sunday,

and you can ask them, tell me about the blood of Jesus, and nobody talks about

the blood of Jesus. We preach a lot of self-help theology.

We preach a lot of, you know, here's how we interact in our world today.

But I want to say this right now.

When I was lost and dead in my trespasses and sins, I could not help myself.

I didn't have some kind of book that I could read to find my way to God.

The only thing that gave me deliverance, that gave me hope, was the blood of Jesus Christ.

I want to submit to you this morning that the blood of Jesus breaks every chain,

covers every sin, and opens every door to God.

See, we forget this in our fast-paced life. We tend to forget the life-altering

power of the blood of Jesus Christ.

If you look back to early church, the New Testament believers,

they had a conscious awareness of what the blood of Jesus really meant.

Now, I use the terminology conscious awareness because what that means is that

they were awake and they were cognizant of what the blood of Jesus meant in their lives.

They weren't just going through having church services because of the excitement.

They knew that the blood of Jesus Christ had really broken chains and covered sins and opened doors.

They knew what the blood of Jesus Christ meant in their life.

See, it's not just about religious tradition. It's not just about doctrine.

It's about the force that transforms every single part of our lives.

The blood of Jesus remains the most active and the most life-transforming power

that we have available to us as believers today. If you believe that,

then give the Lord a hand clap of praise because I believe that.

See, the blood of Jesus is not just something that was shed to be commemorated,

but it was shed to be celebrated, it was shed to be lived, and it was shed to

be relied upon by every believer that calls upon the name of the Lord.

See, when you look at this text, it was written to Jewish Christians at the time.

The writer of Hebrews is writing this to Jewish Christians at the time,

trying to tell them that there was a difference between their old ceremonial

system of salvation that basically lasted from year to year and then the new

covenant that we have through Jesus Christ.

If you go back and you read the Old Testament under the law.

Once a year they had to come in and they had to make a sacrifice,

an atonement for their sins.

It happened to cover their sins, but it was a temporary sacrifice.

These sacrifices was a part of their ritualistic worship.

And it was a temporary sacrifice for sin.

But that animal sacrifice was a type and a shadow of what God was going to do

in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, that there was coming a time when no

more animal sacrifice was needed.

There was coming a time when there was no more feasts or festivals that needed to be observed.

It was all going to be fulfilled in the life, the death, the burial,

and the resurrection that Jonathan was talking about at the beginning of service.

Jesus, acting as our high priest.

He came and he made for us a new and better, that's what the Bible's talking about right there,

not a ritual, but it was a culmination of God's redemptive plan,

and he created for us a new and a better covenant.

Now, I look at all of that and see what we're missing in the church today.

We've lost track of the doctrine of the atonement through the blood of Jesus Christ.

It is the primary Christian doctrine that our faith is rooted upon because if

it was not, if there was no, the Bible says, without the shedding of blood,

there is no remission for sins.

And so if it had not been for the shed blood of Jesus Christ,

then there would be no forgiveness.

If it had not been for the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we would not have healing.

If it had not been for the shed blood of Jesus Christ, there wouldn't be a body

called the church that we are a part of today.

And I want to put this in a current context right now.

Without the shed blood. If you're in a church right now that's not preaching

the shed blood of Jesus Christ, then you are a part of a social club.

You're a part of just a community.

But if you are in a place that's celebrating the shed blood of Jesus Christ,

then you are a part of the living body, the church of the living God, and the,

see i remember it i remember it as a little boy sitting

on those little pews on thacker's branch where our campus was

back then and i can remember even a

40 some years ago now i can remember sitting in those pews as sid renfro who's

going to speak for us next uh saturday at our women's conference she used to

sing the blood will never lose its power amen and i'm still here to tell you

that all these years later,

40 some years later of living this Christian life, I still found that it reaches

to the highest mountain and it flows to the lowest valley.

And the same blood, that blood gives you strength.

That old song says from day to day, and it will never lose its power.

See, some of you were raised in church, and you were raised on them,

and you were rooted and grounded in them.

And the danger, here's the danger, here's why this change that's taking a place

in Christian society is such a dangerous ground,

is because we're trying to build

people's lives now without relying on the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

We're trying to put pastoral support. Listen, we're going to call you.

We're going to love on you, we're going to check on you, but you cannot create

a counseling network of pastoral support that's strong enough to do what the

shed blood of Jesus Christ did on Calvary.

You can put together, you can have all the smoke screens and the websites and

the social media that you want to,

and it's not a bad thing, it's a good thing, but it will never do what the shed

blood of Jesus Christ did on Calvary.

See, the Old Testament made a temporary fix. Every year they had to come back.

See, some people, when you're not relying upon the shed blood of Jesus,

when you don't know what the blood of Jesus Christ did for you,

then you look at salvation as a temporary fix.

That's why people, they come and they shake a preacher's hand.

I'm going to tell you this right now. Shaking the preacher's hand can't do it.

I know some people come up and they sign a card.

Signing a card can't do it, but it's only when you confess with your mouth.

When you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead and

he is seated at the right hand of the Father and he has paid the price for the atonement of our sins.

That's the only way you can be saved.

People say, well, I go to church. Well, bless your heart. But it can't save

you. It can't save you. Hey, you know what? I've been to football games.

It didn't make me an athlete.

I got to go down and walk on a racetrack one time. It didn't make me a NASCAR

driver, although you should see me on I-81.

It's been, I don't know, I can't go there. No, it's not about any of those.

Coming to church does not make you a Christian. It's only through the blood

of Jesus Christ and your surrender to him, being covered by the price that he has paid for you.

I know, you start saying those. See, here's the reason why. Why?

Because there is no way to make that palatable to a society that gets weirded out over everything.

I mean, let's talk about it. We used to sing a song.

Dr. Renfro would sing, I am covered, covered, covered by his blood.

And everybody's like, whoa.

You're doing what in that church? See, we've tried to beautify.

I want to say something. You can't make the cross beautiful.

No matter how much you cleaned it up, you can't make the... It's beautiful to us that are saved.

But when you look at it, it's grotesque. When you look at it, it was a murder.

When you look at it, Jesus Christ paid the price, died to death,

that only He could die to pay the price that we couldn't pay,

to give us a life that we don't deserve to live.

When you look at it, you can't make that any prettier than what it is.

He paid that price. because in reality, the blood of Jesus breaks every chain,

covers every sin, and opens every door to God.

Now, when I'm trying to prove this, I got to point out three things about the

blood of Jesus, what it is, what it does. First of all, it's this.

It has, because remember, I told you, it has the ability to break every chain.

You know what that is? That's the power of purification.

That's the power of purification. The blood of Jesus has the power to purify

not only what's on the outside, but also what's on the inside. Amen.

I remember when I first gave my heart to the Lord back on April 17th, 1997.

Hallelujah. I remember when I first gave, then I went straight home.

I went into my room and I cleared out every poster that was hanging on the wall.

I know these examples were outdated. It was just my life. I got every cassette

tape that I shouldn't be listening to.

I got all, you know, these people are.

My old, I said old examples. I tore the ACDC tapes down and threw them away.

And I got the Motley Crew tapes out and threw them away.

I told them this morning, I got the Snoop Dogg. That guy must be pickled because

I think he's still around, isn't he?

It's crazy. I don't know what he's done. That guy's got a staying power.

I took the Snoop Dogg tapes and I threw them away.

Everything that was contrary to what I heard that preacher

say that was preaching the gospel up there in that

pulpit and it wasn't because there was a cleansing that

was taking place on the outside what was happening was

what was taking place on the outside was a reflection of

what had already taken place on the inside it wasn't

grievous to throw that poster away it wasn't grievous to throw that t-shirt

away because what had happened in me was making its way we used to sing a song

jesus on the inside working on the outside oh what a change in my life we're

trying to change people on the outside We're trying to tell them,

don't wear that. Don't say that.

Don't go there. And the problem is we're leaving out the blood.

And if we would get the blood back into people's lives once again,

once you change on the inside, it manifests on the outside.

There's a purification that takes place. See, what it comes down to is the blood

of Jesus speaks louder than my failures.

That's that purification that happens on the inside.

The blood of Jesus speaks louder than my failures. Hebrews chapter 9 and verse

14 says that Jesus offered himself without blemish.

See, under the old covenant, that sacrifice had to be perfect.

There couldn't be any kind of defect in it. And Jesus, he lived 33 and a half

sinless, spotless years.

He was persecuted, but he never had evil thoughts.

They tried to kill him, but he never got violent. They crucified him,

but he never lost the love that he had. He was sinless.

He was spotless. He was perfect in every way.

And modern day theology might try to say, well, I wonder what all happened in His life.

No, no, He was sinless, spotless, the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world.

No wonder in 1 John 1 and verse 7, the Bible says the blood of Jesus,

His Son, has cleansed us from all sins.

He shows us that He has a purifying ability in His blood.

See if you don't let the blood of jesus purify you what happens is you're you're condemned by guilt,

you are see what what research shows is that is that guilt when you leave that

unchecked when you never deal with that it leads to anxiety it leads to depression

it leads to thoughts that shouldn't be there and ultimately what it does is

it discourages it to the point where you can't live in victory.

But what you've got to realize is the blood of Jesus speaks louder than your failures.

So first of all, it has purifying ability. It breaks every chain.

But also, we've got to realize that the blood paid the cost of our redemption.

See, redemption is about paying a price to free someone from bondage.

The blood of Jesus is the ultimate ransom.

Ephesians chapter 1 and verse 7 says, in him we have redemption through his

blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses.

See, in this ancient culture, they knew what it was like because they had bond slavery.

In order for a bond slave to be free, there had to be a price paid.

And it's the same. That's why they knew what he was talking about,

the writer of Hebrews was talking about, because in the same way Jesus' blood

purchased, he redeemed us, he purchased the price for our freedom.

1 Peter 1 and verse 18 says it this way, You were ransomed not with perishable

things such as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

See, I started thinking about how do I put this across in such a way that we can get it.

And I know what season we just came through, and so I looked it up.

So I went online, and so these numbers are from yesterday when I was building my PowerPoint.

I looked it up, and this is, as of yesterday at probably 8 o'clock in the morning,

this was our national debt, okay?

It's more now. I hate to tell you that, but it's more now.

And so right now as a nation, we have $35,984,293,816,917 in national debt, okay?

Some of you guys probably looked at me and thought that was your bank account.

No, no, it's definitely not your bank account. That's our national.

And as a matter of fact, if you really want to feel overwhelmed,

the national debt grows by $6.4 billion every day. Let's break it down even further.

It grows by $268 million every hour. Let's go a little further.

Our national debt grows by $4.5 million every minute. That's a lot, right?

If you didn't have anxiety before, you start to feel it creeping up your back right now. Yeah.

So the debt per citizen is $106,000. What if something catastrophic happened

in our nation and our nation came and said every citizen needs to pay $106,000

or something, I don't know what kind of consequences.

But as I say, they're requiring us to pay $106,000 each.

For a household of four, they're expecting you to pay $424,000 in your household.

Could you do that? I mean, if you could, we still got a little bit of building

payment left on this building. and we need your help, all right?

But we couldn't do that. I look at that and I think, that's a debt that I could not pay.

But you know what's even greater than that $106,000 per person?

You know what's even greater, a greater debt than that $35,000, almost $36 trillion?

It was the debt of sin that every single one of us had on our life that nobody

could pay, that none of us were good enough, that none of us had lived good

enough, that none of us could ever live good enough to pay that debt.

And we would have been in debt. We would have been in hell because of our trespasses and sins.

And yet Jesus said, I'll pay the debt. Jesus said, I'll shed my blood.

Jesus said, there's a blood that breaks every chain, covers every sin,

and opens every door that will cover the price.

So also, number two, it pays the cost of redemption. But number three,

it's the pathway to God's presence.

See, it's by the blood of Jesus Christ that we have the ability to approach God.

Otherwise, in our trespasses and sins, we would be struck down in the presence of a holy God.

See, I remember I used to live in northern Kentucky, and every time I would

drive from the church back to our home where we lived, I would live with Pastor

Tommy Bates and his family, And there used to be a barn there that said,

all roads lead to God, choose one.

I think they tore that barn down. Praise the Lord. I hope they did.

Is it still there? Okay, thank God. All right, I was going to go burn it down. No, I wasn't.

It said all paths. See, that's the message of modern-day religion,

though, that all paths lead to God, choose one. I want to tell you this right

now, that you can't follow Muhammad to the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You cannot follow Buddha to the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You can't follow other world religions to the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There is one Lord. There is one God. There is one mediator between God and man,

and that's the man, Jesus Christ.

The only way to the father, the Bible tells us, is through Jesus Christ.

And anybody, anybody that tries any other way is a thief and a robber.

The Bible tells us the Lord Jesus says himself, I'm the way,

the truth, and the life, and there's no way to the Father but through me.

Hebrews chapter 10, the writers of Hebrews says it this way,

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy place,

how are we entering the holy place?

By the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that He opened for us through

the curtain, that is, through His flesh.

In other words, if it had not been for the blood of Jesus, any other way is

not going to get you there. All gods are not the same.

There is one God. There is one Savior.

There is one atoning blood. And that is the blood of Jesus Christ.

The blood of Jesus breaks every chain, covers every sin, opens every door.

That's the blood that we're talking about.

See, in the old church, we used to do something. We called it pleading the blood.

Amen. We called it pleading the blood. I got to get this out there right now

because I know there's churches right now that they'll look at us,

spirit-filled churches, and they'll say, well, pleading the blood's not in the Bible.

Well, the word Bible's not in the Bible either, but they preach out of it, and they call it that.

But they don't want to look at the authority that we have as believers.

See, pleading the blood is not a term. it's a process it's

something that we see active actively carried it carried out

in the bible pleading the blood is actually a

legal term think of it as a lawyer that's pleading

his case before the judge in the presence of the evidence and the facts support

the case against you that's that you know think about that see i can relate

to this because when i was a young man when i was just out of high school i

got i know i know listen cover the kids ears right now so i got arrested for

fighting in a courtroom, all right?

So this was not Pastor Scott that did that. This was Heathen Scott that did

that, all right? So don't get worried.

And you know what? I wasn't fighting the good fight of faith either.

I was just fighting a fight.

And they cuffed me and stuffed me and took me, and I got arrested,

and I was guilty, and I deserved everything that they were going to do to me.

And when I went to court for that, and they asked me how I pled,

I said guilty. You know why?

Because, well, first of all, they had it on tape, and they made me watch it.

Amen. But I was guilty. I deserved everything that they were going to throw against me.

I was 18 years old, and I was guilty.

And that judge looked at me, and that judge could have given me a sentence.

That judge could have made me do, that judge could have put that on my record,

and that would have been, listen, I wouldn't be working in education today,

probably, if I had that on my record.

I probably wouldn't be the executive director of a foster agency today if I had that on my record.

I don't know. You know, I don't know if you'd have me as a pastor today or not.

If I, I don't know if Pastor Rob would let me marry his daughter if I had it on my record. Anyway.

Judge looked at me and she said you

you got too much ahead of you to let this

follow you around for the rest you know what you I

thought about this yesterday she looked past she

saw more in my potential than she did my

transgression see that's what the blood of Jesus Christ does

when we plead the blood it's a legal term

and all the facts of the case are against us

you know what your diagnosis may say that you

can't be healed the facts are against you

but i plead the blood of jesus and god

and the healing that was paid for by jesus is greater than the sickness that's

on my body i know that the things that your family has been through you look

at them and and the facts are against you the trauma is against you all of all

of the negativity is against you but you know what?

The reconciliation that comes through Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus.

I plead the blood and the fact of his redemption and his reconciliation is greater

than every charge against me.

We got to plead the blood. See, there's three things we got to know about pleading the blood.

Now I got to point this out because you're going to have those churches that

say, pleading the blood is not in the Bible.

Well, neither is rapture, but I hope they go. All right. I'm going to throw

that out there right now.

I know. I've messed up everybody's theology this morning. You need it messed

up, all right? You need biblical theology.

All right, so number one, there is spiritual authority in pleading the blood.

It's not a magical phrase. I've heard people that they walk around saying,

I plead the blood, I plead the blood, I plead the blood, and nothing ever happens,

and the reason why is because they're using it like it's a magical phrase.

It's not a magical phrase. It's a declaration in our trust of Jesus' sacrifice.

Oh, somebody needs to hear me right now. When we say we plead the blood of Jesus

Christ, what we're doing is we're putting in practice our faith that we believe

in the sacrifice that Jesus Christ has made.

We are not pleading the blood in our own righteousness. We're not pleading the

blood because it's just a magical witness. That would be witchcraft.

If you believe that just because you say, I plead the blood,

then things change, that's witchcraft right there.

But when I say I plead the blood because I believe in the miracle-working power

of the Lord Jesus Christ and that His blood breaks every chain,

covers every sin, and opens every door, then that means that I am trusting in

the confidence of His sacrifice.

Revelation 12 and 11 says it this way, And they conquered Him by the blood of

the Lamb and the word of their testimony.

Believers conquered the accuser all because of the blood of the Lamb and the

word of their testimony. So, number one, we've got to absolutely take authority.

You have spiritual authority. The Bible says that we can come boldly before

the presence of God. We have authority.

That doesn't mean I go in there bossing God around. That means that He's a good

Father, and when I go asking Him, I don't have to beg.

That leads into my next one. It's because we can plead the blood over our families

for protection, and we don't have to beg about it.

You know, the other day, Lucas, he was up there at college. They messed something up in financial aid.

We know that never happens, but it happens. They messed something up in financial

aid, and he was showing $500 balance on his account, and he was afraid he wasn't

going to get to register for classes.

They told him it probably won't affect it, but, you know, we'll check on registration.

He had anxiety about it. So he called me up, and he said, Dad,

they've messed up the financial aid.

They're showing that the $500 of my scholarships that I shouldn't have to pay

haven't come through yet.

He said, we shouldn't have to owe it. He said, but it'd probably be a lot better

if you just go ahead and pay it.

He didn't say, oh, Dad, if you love me. Oh, Daddy.

He goes, you know what I did? I thought, I don't want anything hindering his ability to register.

And so I went on that portal and I paid that $500 and I really hadn't thought

anything else about it until I started putting this sermon together right now

because that's what kind of father, if me being evil, I'm using Jesus' words here,

know how to do good things to our children, then how much more does God know

how to give the Holy Spirit to them that ask?

See, we serve a father that he wants to bless you. He wants to protect you.

He wants to heal you. They say, oh, you know, if it's the Lord's,

No, you know, he took those stripes on his back for the healer by his stripes.

We are healed. He sent forth his word and his word healed them.

Healing is the children's bread. We read it in the scripture and we can stand upon it.

I know. I know. I'm preaching a lot better than you guys are. Amen. It's okay.

And then finally, finally, is that it has the power. Did I not get there?

There it was. All right. Has the power of cleansing and renewal.

See, pleading the blood, it absolutely cleanses us from all sin.

It takes away everything. See, when I started looking at this,

I started thinking, we need to know how to plead the blood of Jesus.

That's what we've got to know. How do you plead the blood of Jesus?

Number one is you pray with faith.

You pray directly to God. You pray

to believe in that God is going to do everything that his word prompts.

Now, don't go in there praying stuff that's not in the word.

I've heard people say, I've heard people say, No, I don't care what your uncle

said. I want to know what the Word of God said.

You know, the Bible says that sometimes that we don't get it because we ask

amiss. But when we read the Bible and we know the Bible, we know the Word of

God, we can go boldly before the throne of God and we can pray with faith.

Praying with faith means that we are praying boldly that, Lord,

I plead the blood of Jesus over my family, over my mind, over my heart,

over every situation, and you can do that with boldness.

Number two, though, we've got to declare it with authority. See,

this is where that authority comes back in.

Pleading the blood isn't begging. That's what I was talking about my son.

Pleading the blood isn't begging. It's confident declaration that Jesus' blood

will do everything that he says it will do.

That it will, what did we say? Break every chain, cover every sin, open every door.

We believe that. And if we believe that, we can pray with faith.

We can absolutely declare with authority. And finally, we can walk with victory.

Hope you'll come. We can walk with victory.

You know what that looks like? Because I've seen people not walk with victory.

Because they'll come in. They'll stand in the prayer line. We'll pray the prayer

of faith, and they'll say, oh, I believe the Lord touched me,

and then they go out and start a GoFundMe page.

I'm not preaching them against GoFundMe. I'm just saying, if we believe that

Jesus is who he says he is, let's walk in victory.

I've seen people, they'll say, oh, I believe the Lord's given me victory,

and then they go and they post on Facebook looking for everybody's opinions.

I know, I know. I should have worn steel-toed boots this morning.

I'm just saying, let's either be who God has called us to be and not put on

something to this world that we're not, or let's find the real thing that we need to find. Amen?

Either you are, I about use bad grammar, all right? Either you are or you ain't, right?

Either you're a believer or

you're not. Either you believe in the blood of Jesus Christ or you don't.

Because I believe we need a revival in the church. I'm talking about every church.

We need a revival where we believe in the wonder-working power of the blood again.

We need to believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost again.

We need to believe in the authority of the New Testament spirit-filled church

that was birthed in the book of Acts and didn't die.

I heard somebody the other day said, said oh they're just they're just looking

for a second they're trying to manufacture the second pentecost why would we

need a second one when the first one's not finished.

Amen amen all right let's all stand out of this building i've already some people

are excited and some people are mad.

Amen. You know, the New Testament church, because the danger is when you go

and you tell your friends and family about this, some of them are going to say,

praise God, I need to hear that.

And the others are going to say, you're crazy.

You go read the book of Acts.

Either people were getting saved by the thousands or no man dared to join that church.

Either people were getting healed or they were falling dead at the feet of the

apostles there wasn't any lukewarm people,

my prayer is god if there's 10 of us don't let us be a lukewarm church,

because here's what i know there won't be 10 of us if there's wonder working

power if there's miracles and signs and wonders and healing there'll be there'll

be people come just to watch you burn that there'll be people that come because

it's the only hope that the hope's not in the government,

i i don't care if your candidate won or lost this past week if you put your

hope in either one of those candidates you've already gone the wrong way our hope is in jesus our.

Why? Because his blood has the ability to break every chain,

cover every sin, and open every door.

Church, we've got to separate ourselves from who we used to be.

I heard this recently. If you go back and you read the Old Testament book of

Daniel, Daniel's the author of that book.

When Daniel was taken into Babylonian captivity, the Babylonians gave him a

new name because the name Daniel referenced his God, Jehovah.

So the Babylonians gave him the name Belshazzar, a Babylonian name.

And God did amazing things in Daniel's life.

Daniel may have been in a foreign country under foreign laws,

but they never changed Daniel.

You know how we know if you go back and read original texts every time the word

Daniel is written it's spelled perfectly but every single time that Daniel wrote.

The name Belshazzar he misspelled it,

and they thought that this was a mistake they thought this was just translations

that had been somewhere once it was translated again and again and again it was a mistake,

but then when they found the ancient texts in the in the dead sea scrolls when

they found the dead sea scrolls the ain't the most ancient texts that we have

are the writings of daniel,

they found that it was misspelled there too you know

why because daniel was showing them it was

a jab he was showing them that they may

have me in this country but i never identify by

who they are i'll always be daniel i want to say this right now we may be pilgrims

in this weary land right now we may have laws that we're in favor of and laws

that we feel that are against us but we never identify with this world heaven

is our home amen god is our father jesus christ is our Savior,

and that's who I identify with this morning. Every head bowed, every eye closed.

If you're here this morning and you don't know Jesus Christ,

maybe you've never been born again, maybe you've totally turned and rejected God and backslid.

Either way, you need to know Jesus as your Savior today.

The blood of Jesus is the starting point that can cleanse you of all unrighteousness, every sin.

Nobody's looking around, but if you're here right now, you'd say,

Pastor Scott, I'd like to give my heart to Jesus this morning.

If that's you, I just want you to raise your hand.

Who are you? Who are you? Say, that's me. That's me.

We're not going to pull you out and make fun of you. You're not going to embarrass you.

We want you to be right. We want you to be on your way to heaven.

There's only one way to heaven, and that's through Jesus.

So one last time, if you're here today, nobody's looking around.

We're not going to pull you out.

But if you're here and you don't know Jesus, you want to be saved today,

I just want you to raise your hands. That's me. I want to know Jesus. I want to know Jesus.

I'm praying that everybody's right in here, okay? Here's my main call.

If you're here today, you'd say, Pastor Scott, I've not been honoring the blood

of Jesus the way that I've needed to.

I have walked around it. I've looked at religious cues.

But I have lost the understanding that the blood of Jesus, it breaks every chain,

covers every sin, and opens every door. But I want to walk in a new authority.

I want to walk in a new liberty with the understanding of the blood.

If that's you, I just want you to raise your hand this morning.

I'm going to raise mine because I believe that sometimes I've lost consciousness

of it. Yeah, there's hands going up.

Who else? You'd say, that's me. There's hands going up all over this building.

Thank you, Jesus. Here's what I want to do. On the count of three,

if you want to come, I want everybody to raise their hands to come to this altar anyway.

But if you need to give your heart to Jesus, I want you to come to this altar too.

So on the count of three, I want you to step out and head to this altar.

One, two, three, step on out. That's right. They're already coming.

They're already coming.

Come on, there's victory. The step of faith. The step of faith. The step of faith.

That first step that says, God, I trust you. Jesus, I trust you.

Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.

Listen, if you're in need of prayer this morning, if you want to be anointed,

we're going to anoint some with oil and pray for them. If you want to,

make your way down right now.

We're going to pray for you as they begin to sing. Thank you, Jesus.
