  1. Welcome to the Word of the Lord, the weekly television

  2. broadcast of Living Word Christian Church, proclaiming

  3. the good news of the gospel of the Lord Jesus

  4. Christ. Pastor Mark Clements, in -depth, relevant

  5. biblical teachings will help you in life and

  6. living in today's world. Now, let's join Pastor

  7. Clements in the service already in progress.

  8. These are our 12 guiding principles as a church,

  9. and we had them engraved. rather than just printed

  10. where they could fade. And our 12 guiding principles

  11. are, number one, number one. Can you see it?

  12. Number one. We'll have these for you next week.

  13. We might have them up on the screen today. I

  14. just didn't ask them to dig for it. But number

  15. one, God's word is truth. Not true. God's word

  16. is truth. It is to be proclaimed through preaching

  17. and teaching, received and believed by all who

  18. hear. and applied to and practiced in each of

  19. our daily lives. Our second guiding principle

  20. is worship, that we're all created as worshipers.

  21. Number three, leadership. Number four, excellence.

  22. Number five, faith. Number six, discipleship.

  23. These are guiding principles for this church.

  24. Number seven, unity. Number eight, participation.

  25. Number nine, fellowship. Number 10, prayer. Number

  26. 11, stewardship. And number 12. Those are our

  27. 12. Thank you. Now you can put them up and try

  28. and get them straight. Give them a hand. Come

  29. on. They did a great job. Jumped right up there.

  30. Some of you doubted them. Needed a little encouragement.

  31. Praise God. Thank you, man. We're going to...

  32. Once we're done with our statement of faith,

  33. what we believe, then we'll take a week or maybe

  34. two weeks and we'll take our 12 guiding principles

  35. and just share those with you as well. Why do

  36. we do what we do as a church? First, it's why

  37. do we believe what we believe? And we're going

  38. to start where I believe we should start based

  39. on that 12 guiding principles as well, and that

  40. is God's Word. Because if I take the foundation

  41. out, if I take the foundation of God's Word being

  42. anointed, and God's Word being eternal, and God's

  43. Word being His voice speaking to me, and God's

  44. Word being inerrant, and God's Word being practical,

  45. and God's Word being relevant, and God's Word

  46. being for me today. See, if I listen to the church

  47. teaching where I grew up, One of the churches

  48. that I grew up in, we moved around a lot. My

  49. dad was in traveling sales. We moved all over.

  50. In ninth grade, I entered my ninth different

  51. school. And he was not in the military. We just

  52. moved a lot. And everywhere we went, we landed

  53. at a church and always had a church to attend

  54. and always a church we were a part of. And in

  55. more than one of those churches, I was told,

  56. well, that was just for the early church. That

  57. was just for back then. It's not for us today.

  58. When I got old enough to read through my Bible,

  59. I looked for that verse. I looked all the way

  60. through it to find where it said, and this will

  61. not be for you today. I couldn't find it. I still

  62. can't find it today. If you read through the

  63. Bible, you go ahead and look for it all your

  64. way through. You'll never see it. There's not

  65. a verse in there that says this is not practical,

  66. this is not applicable, this is not relevant

  67. for you. This was only for the early church or

  68. the early days. You'll never find that in there.

  69. I found out that God never changes, that God

  70. is always the same, and his word is identical

  71. to his character and his nature. Hebrews 13,

  72. 8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today,

  73. and forever. James chapter 1 and verse 17 says

    James 1 chapter mention

  74. there's not even a shadow of turning in God.

  75. Not a turn, his shadow don't even move. And not

  76. even a shadow of turning. Malachi 3 and verse

  77. 6 says, I am the Lord, I change not. I change

  78. not. He doesn't just change his mind. He never

  79. changes his mind. He's perfect in all of his

  80. ways. And so, again, we're taking this up as

  81. number one. I realize in that statement of faith

  82. I just gave you, it's number 11, 12, and 13.

  83. 11, 12, and 13. But we're just going to really

  84. quickly, if you're taking notes, you're going

  85. to have to really write fast. I'm not doing the

  86. whiteboard today for that very reason. I don't

  87. want to wait. I've got too much to cover in too

  88. little time. We're going to just talk just for

  89. this few minutes we have in this service about

  90. what we believe and more importantly, why we

  91. believe it. Because there's no way to cover everything

  92. that we believe as believers and as Christians.

  93. There's no way to just take everything you believe

  94. as a Christian wife and a Christian mother, or

  95. a Christian husband and a Christian father, or

  96. a Christian business owner, or a Christian employee,

  97. or a Christian in the school system, or a Christian

  98. in the college system, the university system,

  99. or a Christian in whatever profession you're

  100. in, or whatever family that you came from and

  101. are a part of. There's no way to take in a service

  102. and say, here's everything that we believe. But

  103. I can give you a base and tell you why we believe

  104. it. Why we believe it is always the same answer.

  105. It's not because it worked for me. It's not because

  106. I had a dream or a vision. I may have, but that's

  107. not why I embrace or believe anything that I

  108. believe. It's because God's word is truth. God's

  109. Word is truth. Those words came from the lips

  110. of the Immaculate Son of God. Those words. John

  111. 17, 17. He's praying, and he says, Father, sanctify

  112. them through truth. Your Word is truth. Your

  113. word is truth. If I embrace my Bible as anything

  114. less than that, I place myself in disagreement

  115. with the master, with the Lord of lords and the

  116. king of all kings, with the Lord of eternity

  117. and the king of glory, with the son of God who

  118. lived a perfect sinless life and died on a cross

  119. on Calvary's hill for you and for me. He said

  120. God's word is truth. Number two, number two.

  121. 2 Timothy chapter 3, 16 and 17. 2 Timothy 3,

    2 Timothy 3 chapter mention

  122. 16 and 17 says, All Scripture. Not half Scripture.

  123. Not some Scripture. Not Old Testament Scripture.

  124. Not New Testament Scripture. Not major prophet

  125. Scripture. Not minor prophet Scripture. Not gospel

  126. Scripture. Not epistle Scripture. All Scripture

  127. is given by inspiration of God. The Word of God,

  128. the Bible, is inspired in its entirety. All Scripture.

  129. Now, it may not all be written to you. Did anybody

  130. bring your lamb? Or goat? Or two turtle doves?

  131. Or drag your... oxen with a rope around his neck

  132. into the parking lot this morning to bring him

  133. up here and hand him over to me so I could cut

  134. his throat and offer a blood sacrifice. Of course

  135. we didn't because those verses aren't written

  136. to us. They're written for us. They're written

  137. for our admonition, it says in 1 Corinthians

    1 Corinthians 10 chapter mention

  138. chapter 10. Twice in that same chapter, it says

  139. it was given for our instruction and for our

  140. admonition as an example to us. Those blood sacrifices

  141. pointed to a sacrifice that would come in there.

  142. future and has been already provided in our past.

  143. And that's the blood that was shed on Calvary's

  144. cross by the Lamb of God who was slain from the

  145. foundation of the earth. The Lord Jesus Christ

  146. supplied that blood. We don't have to do that

  147. anymore. And the Bible's very clear about that.

  148. Very clear about what we have to and what we

  149. don't have to any longer do. All Scripture is

  150. given by inspiration of God and is profitable

  151. and is beneficial. and is helpful, and is productive.

  152. All Scripture is given, number one, by inspiration

  153. of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,

  154. for correction, and for instruction in right

  155. living. Instruction in righteousness, so that

  156. the man of God, so that the woman of God, so

  157. that the people of God, the young people of God,

  158. and the old people of God, so the rich people

  159. of God, and the poor people of God, so the educated

  160. people of God, and the uneducated people of God,

  161. educated people of God. This is for Christians.

  162. This is for the people of God. Doesn't matter

  163. what race you're from. Doesn't matter what color

  164. you are. Doesn't matter what age group you're

  165. a part of. Doesn't matter what socioeconomic

  166. class. Doesn't matter what your education level,

  167. praise God. You're part of the people of God.

  168. And we're all the same. This is given that the

  169. people of God may be perfect, mature, complete,

  170. thoroughly furnished, and fully equipped unto

  171. every good work. That's your Bible. All Scripture

  172. is given. Not all tradition is given by inspiration

  173. of God. Not all experiences are given by inspiration

  174. of God. But all Scripture is given by inspiration

  175. of God. And is profitable. The Bible is inspired,

  176. bless God, in its entirety. Hebrews 4 and verse

  177. 12 says that the Word of God is alive. It's a

  178. living document. It's inspired by the breath

  179. of God Himself. And to this day, not one word

  180. He's spoken has ever dribbled out onto the desert

  181. floor or fallen to the ground unfulfilled. The

  182. Word of God is living and is powerful. It says

  183. over in 1 Thessalonians 2 and verse 13, one of

  184. my absolute all -time favorite verses, and it

  185. says, For this cause we thank God without ceasing

  186. for you, my brethren. We thank God. Because when

  187. you received the Word of God, which you heard

  188. from us... See, Paul had preached there. His

  189. traveling companions had preached there. And

  190. he said, when you received the Word of God, which

  191. you heard from us, you didn't receive it as the

  192. words of a mere man. Now see, when I talk as

  193. a mere man, I ought to tell you that. I ought

  194. to tell you that. I would just stop and say,

  195. now this isn't the word of God, but my favorite

  196. ice cream in the world, what I think is best,

  197. is turtle dove from Culver's. Now you think what

  198. you want. You can be wrong. It's okay. I don't

  199. mind. I don't mind. Listen, that is not given

  200. by inspiration of God. That's given by inspiration

  201. of Mark. Paula bought me my own little tub. Emphasis

  202. on little. But it's a tub. She bought it for

  203. me for Christmas. Boy, I sat down the other night,

  204. and I just sat there up there in my jogging suit

  205. and my socks, and I just ate rice right out of

  206. there. I didn't even put it in a bowl. I just

  207. ate rice with a spoon, and I said, glory to God.

  208. Hallelujah. He said, eat the fat and drink the

  209. sweet. So I did both right there. See, that's

  210. not inspired of God. You don't have to eat that.

  211. You don't have to go try it out. That's not an

  212. instruction. I've got no business putting my

  213. opinions or likes or beliefs unless they come

  214. out of God's word. God's word, he said, when

  215. you spoke, you didn't take what I, when I shared

  216. the word of God with you, you didn't take it

  217. as the words of a mere man. But as it is in truth,

  218. the Word of God, which effectually worketh, that

  219. means is full of divine power to produce results.

  220. See, God's Word is living and powerful. My opinions

  221. are not. Anybody else, any other preacher, any

  222. other woman preacher, any other man preacher,

  223. any evangelist, any apostle, any prophet, any

  224. teacher, any pastor, no, no, no, no, no. But

  225. God's Word is full of... divine power to produce

  226. results in your life that believe it, that embrace

  227. it, that live it, and that adhere to it. Number

  228. three, God's Word is eternal. Matthew 24, 35

  229. says, forever, O Lord. Not till 2021, 2022, not

  230. till COVID, not till 2025, not till the 21st

  231. century. No, forever, O Lord. Forever, oh Lord.

  232. So many people made excuses for me when I was

  233. growing up and said, well, that's not for us

  234. today. That's not for us today. That was only

  235. for the early church. That was till the last

  236. apostle died. All of those things. You can't

  237. find any of that in the Bible. Nowhere. What

  238. you'll find in the Bible is heaven and earth

  239. will pass away, but my word will never pass away.

  240. What you'll find in your Bible in Psalm 119 verse

    Psalms 119:89

  241. 89 is forever, oh Lord, your word is settled

  242. in heaven. Forever, oh Lord. Your word is settled

  243. in heaven. And then 1 Peter chapter 1, 23 through

    1 Peter 1 chapter mention

  244. 25, and right down to the end of that section,

  245. it says the grass will wither and the flower

  246. thereof will fade away, but the word of God will

  247. endure forever. The word of God will endure forever.

  248. 24, flesh is as grass, the glory of man is the

  249. flower of grass, the grass withers and the flower

  250. falls off, but the word of the Lord endures forever.

  251. I like the simplicity of the Bible. Even I can

  252. understand it. Forever means forever. You can't

  253. misunderstand that word. Forever, O Lord, your

  254. word is settled in heaven. The word of the Lord

  255. endures forever. Heaven and earth will pass away,

  256. but your word will never, never pass away. The

  257. word of God's inspired, the word of God's anointed,

  258. the word of God's eternal. We find something

  259. about God's Word in Jeremiah 1 .12. He watches

  260. over His Word to perform it. He doesn't watch

  261. over my Word to perform it. He watches over His

  262. own Word to perform it. Isaiah 46 and verse 11,

  263. right at the end of that verse, it says, I've

  264. spoken it and I will bring it to pass. Yep, I

  265. spoke it and I'll bring it to pass. I said it

  266. and it's going to be so. Isaiah 55, 8 through

  267. 11, specifically just verse 11. And it says,

  268. so shall my word be that goes forth out of my

  269. mouth. It shall accomplish what I send it to

  270. do and prosper in the thing that I send it to.

  271. See, God said my word is going to do what I want

  272. it to, and I'm sending it. If I send it, I'm

  273. going to bring it to pass. And God said, I watch

  274. over my word to perform it. And Mark 16, verse

    Mark 16:20

  275. 20 says he confirms his word with signs following.

  276. And so God watches over it, and God confirms

  277. it, and God performs his word. Here's a couple

  278. of wonderful verses. Psalm 19 and verse 8. Psalm

  279. 19 and verse 8. Psalm 19 and verse 8. And then

  280. we'll go to Psalm 33. Let's see. The statutes

  281. of the Lord are right. Huh. All right, enough

  282. said. The Bible is right. Well, yeah, but modern

  283. day studies have shown, listen, modern day studies

  284. will change. Yeah, modern day studies will change.

  285. Lo and behold. Poor, out of step, out of sync,

  286. out of date, Pastor Clements. in his dogmatic

  287. stance on alcohol, was just proven to be right.

  288. Because yesterday, the day before yesterday,

  289. the day before yesterday, they said, we've been

  290. studying this since the 80s, and we've been telling

  291. people that just one drink a day can't hurt you,

  292. and it might even do you good, and now we have

  293. to put a new label on every alcoholic beverage

  294. starting this year that says these elements cause

  295. cancer, even one drink. Well, I'm not so smart.

  296. I just read my Bible. It said, wine is a mocker

  297. and strong drink is raging and a fool it is that's

  298. deceived thereby. I just, okay, I'm not preaching

  299. on that today. But I'm going to give you the

  300. Bible. The statutes of the Lord are right. I

  301. said the statutes of the Lord are right. Are

  302. right. Psalm 33 and verse 4. Psalm 33 and verse

  303. 4. The word of the Lord is right. That's not

  304. hard to understand. The Word of the Lord. Not

  305. sometimes right. Not could be right. Not if everybody

  306. agrees and all the voters line up. The Word of

  307. the Lord is right. The Word of the Lord is right.

  308. And His works are done in truth. Psalm 119, verse

    Psalms 119:128

  309. 128. Right down to where the rubber meets the

  310. road. We esteem all of your precepts concerning

  311. all things to be right. And hate every false

  312. way. And if Psalm 19 in verse 8 that says God's

  313. word is right, is that not enough for you? If

  314. Psalm 33 verse 4 says the word of the Lord is

    Psalms 33:4

  315. right, if that's not good enough for you, if

  316. Psalm 119 verse 128 says all of your precepts

    Psalms 119:128

  317. concerning all things are right, if that's not

  318. good enough for you, then I got a good verse

  319. for you. It's Psalm 19 in verse 7. Psalm 19 in

  320. verse 7. The law of the Lord is perfect. There.

  321. So if I can't embrace that the Bible's right,

  322. then the Bible's perfect. You can't fix perfect.

  323. It's already perfect. Doesn't need any adjustment.

  324. Praise the Lord. I'm having fun. How about you?

  325. All right. Now here are some almost... See, if

  326. you're a preacher, if you're a teacher, if you're

  327. a ladies Bible study leader, if you're a men's

  328. Bible study leader, Pastor Robinson, just before

  329. you retired, pastored for how many years, Debbie?

  330. He might not know, but you know every one of

  331. them. 50 years he pastored. 50. 50 years. And

  332. you know, go ahead and clap. That's praiseworthy.

  333. Retired and now comes to church. Man. I would

  334. think, you know what I'd think? I'd think if

  335. I pastored 50 years on Sunday morning, you know

  336. where I'd be? I'd be up in my den in my sweatsuit

  337. and my slippers on reclining. He's in church.

  338. Why? Because of what the Bible says. Because

  339. of what the Bible says. I'm telling you, for

  340. preachers and for ministers, these along with

  341. the book of James, it says do not seek to be

  342. Bible instructors. You will be judged more harshly.

  343. Very first pastor's conference I ever went to,

  344. March of 1985. And Dr. Frederick K .C. Price,

  345. out in Los Angeles, California, just did an absolutely

  346. tremendous job. Life -changing, life -adjusting,

  347. five days straight. And the very last day, he

  348. had every pastor stand up, come down. He stood

  349. there. He just, I mean, glared, not stared. I

  350. mean, he was piercing your soul. Dr. Price, the

  351. apostle of faith, one of the greatest ministers

  352. in our generations, in our lifetime. And Dr.

  353. Price walked right up there and he looked and

  354. he said, I'm leaving you. I'm leaving you with

  355. this. You're leaving this conference and I'm

  356. telling you this. You better study that word

  357. of God. You better study your Bible to show yourself

  358. approved unto God. You better rightly divide

  359. that Bible, the word of truth, because somebody

  360. is going to listen to you and somebody is going

  361. to believe you and their eternity. is your responsibility.

  362. And you better get it right. I didn't know if

  363. I wanted to pastor anymore or not. See, the Bible

  364. is very straightforward about this. And you don't

  365. find this about any other book, any other publication,

  366. even about preaching and teaching. But you do

  367. have it about the Bible. You want to see how

  368. important God takes His Word? Deuteronomy 4 and

  369. verse 2. Deuteronomy 4 and verse 2. You shall

  370. not add to the word which I command you, neither

  371. shall you diminish anything from it, that you

  372. may keep the commandments of the Lord your God.

  373. That is a commandment. You don't add anything

  374. to the Bible, and you don't take anything away

  375. from the Bible. It is perfect. It's perfect.

  376. Proverbs 30, verses 5 and 6. Proverbs 30, verses

    Proverbs 30:5 Proverbs 30:5

  377. 5 and 6. Every word of God is pure. He's a shield

  378. to them that put their trust in Him. Verse 6.

  379. And you shall not unto His words, add thou not

  380. to His words, lest He reprove you, and you be

  381. found a liar. Oh yeah. Don't go adding something

  382. to the Bible because you like it, because you

  383. think so, because you think it ought to be a

  384. command, because you don't think it's right for

  385. the 21st century. Add nothing to the Bible. Add

  386. nothing to the Bible. And if that wasn't enough,

  387. Revelation 21 and verse 5. Revelation 21 and

  388. verse 5. If you missed the first two, don't miss

  389. this one. And he that sat upon the throne said,

  390. Behold, I make all things new. And he said, Write

  391. these words. I'm not sure why I had verse 5 on

  392. there, but it's a good verse anyway. Chapter

  393. 22, verse 18 and verse 19. Ready? Revelation

  394. 22, 18 and 19. And lastly. Unto every man that

  395. hears the words of the prophecy of this book,

  396. if any man shall add to these things, God shall

  397. add to him the plagues that are written in this

  398. book. Next verse. And if any man shall take away

  399. from the words of the book of this prophecy,

  400. God shall take away his part out of the book

  401. of life and out of the holy city and from the

  402. things that are written in this book. You don't

  403. mess with the Bible. You don't mess with the

  404. Bible. I shudder to think about some of the modern

  405. translations, while most of them are really helpful

  406. in assisting in understanding God's Word. Some

  407. of them downright delete particular verses. Matter

  408. of fact, one very, very well -renowned and utilized...

  409. translation of the Bible. I find it great in

  410. other chapters and in other verses. But right

  411. there in the book of Acts, when the man jumps

  412. into the prison cell with Paul and says, what

  413. must I do to be saved? And Paul gives the answer,

  414. believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall

  415. be saved in your house. And one modern translation

  416. deletes that whole verse, just doesn't even have

  417. it in there. Found it to be too controversial.

  418. I say let it be controversial. I want my name

  419. left in the book of life. I don't want to be

  420. found a liar by adding something or taking something

  421. away out of that book. I remember right now a

  422. time when Paul and I... we had a visitor come

  423. to our house. And she had embraced a particular

  424. religion that didn't believe the Bible was enough.

  425. That the leader of their particular sect, the

  426. leader of their particular group, the leader

  427. of what they embraced and believed, had a special

  428. revelation and received an addition to the Bible.

  429. And a being appeared to him and told him where

  430. to find a golden tablet with some additional

  431. things to add to the Bible to bring it into completeness.

  432. And so she came over to our house to try and

  433. enlighten us. And when that didn't work, then

  434. she got confrontational. and she said, what makes

  435. you think that there can't be more than just

  436. a Bible? I said, well, I'm going to just give

  437. you one verse, maybe two. I'll just maybe give

  438. you two verses, and then you answer those, and

  439. then I'll answer your question. And so we opened

  440. our Bible, her and I together, to 2 Timothy chapter

    2 Timothy 3:16

  441. 3, verses 16 and 17, in which I read to her,

  442. The same verse I've already read to you this

  443. morning. It says, what's that first word? What's

  444. the second word? Okay, this was written before

  445. your golden tablets were found in the dust underneath

  446. the pinyon tree. All scripture is given by inspiration

  447. of God. She said, fine, no problem. I don't have

  448. any problem with that. I said, keep reading.

  449. And is profitable. Okay, yep, yep, the Bible

  450. will help you. Yep, and for doctrine? Yes. For

  451. reproof? Yes. For correction? Okay. For instruction

  452. in right living? No problem. Next verse. So that

  453. the people of God may be perfect, complete, entire,

  454. fully furnished, and completely equipped unto

  455. all good works. Ma 'am, if the Bible as I hold

  456. it is enough to make you perfect, complete, mature,

  457. entire, fully equipped, and completely, thoroughly

  458. furnished, why do I need something else? If the

  459. Bible is enough to mature you, disciple you,

  460. equip you, complete you, and mature you, and

  461. perfect you, and it's enough to thoroughly furnish

  462. and fully equip you, why do you need anything

  463. else? She folded her stuff up. She put her books

  464. back in her bag. She went out the door. She turned

  465. around and looked right at me and said, you're

  466. right, and left. I don't care about being right.

  467. I want to help people. I wouldn't know to this

  468. day whether or not I helped you. When you take

  469. additions to your Bible, you're in dangerous

  470. ground. Because it's only the Bible that claims

  471. divine inspiration. It's only the Bible that

  472. declares eternal nature. There's only the Bible

  473. that declares inerrancy. Yeah, only the Bible.

  474. The Word of God. And so let's briefly, and then

  475. we'll wrap up. Let's briefly, let's again look

  476. at this list. We mentioned it a couple weeks

  477. ago. 1 Peter 1, verse 23. It's the Word of God

    1 Peter 1:23

  478. that we're born again by. Proverbs 4. 22, it's

  479. life to us who find it and health to all of our

  480. flesh. Matthew 4 .4 and Luke 4 .4 both say that

  481. the Word of God is the bread that we live by.

  482. Romans 12 and verse 2, the Word of God renews

  483. our mind. James 1 .21, it's the saving of our

  484. soul. Psalm 107 verse... 20, He sent His Word

  485. and healed them. It's what brings healing to

  486. us. Ephesians 6, 17, it's the sword of the Spirit

  487. that we are victorious in battle with. Romans

  488. 10, 17, it's the source of our faith. Faith comes

  489. by hearing and hearing, by the Word of God. John

  490. 17, 17, the Word of God is what sanctifies us.

  491. Psalm 119, verse 130, it's light to us and...

    Psalms 119:130

  492. Brings understanding to the simple. The entrance

  493. of Your Word brings light and is understanding

  494. to the simple. Psalm 119, verse 105. It's a lamp

    Psalms 119:105

  495. to our feet and a light to our path. Psalm 119,

    Psalms 119:165

  496. verse 165. Great peace have they which love your

  497. word. It's a source of great peace. Luke 11,

  498. 28 and James 1, 25 say it's the source of blessing.

  499. And James 1, that verse states that they'll be

  500. blessed in all of their deed. In Joshua 1, 8.

  501. Meditation on and acting on the Word of God,

  502. you'll make your way prosperous and you'll have

  503. good success, which means you'll deal wisely

  504. in all the affairs of life. And then Psalm 1,

  505. 1 through 3, says that meditation on God's Word

  506. will cause you to prosper in everything you set

  507. your hand unto. The Word of God is the source

  508. of your blessing, the source of your sanctification,

  509. the source of your great peace, the source of

  510. faith. It's the sword you fight by. It's healing

  511. for your body. It renews your mind and saves

  512. you. your soul, it's the bread that we live by,

  513. it's life to us who find it, and we're born again

  514. through the Word of God. It is God's voice, Hebrews

    Hebrews 3 chapter mention

  515. chapter 3 and chapter 4, three different times,

  516. it is God's voice speaking to us, after which,

  517. after hearing it, we are commanded to not harden

  518. our hearts. That's the Word of God. Now, one

  519. more portion of Scripture, 2 Peter chapter 1.

    2 Peter 1 chapter mention

  520. I want you to turn there with me. I realize I've

  521. gone through a number of these verses and Scriptures,

  522. all to declare here in this church this morning

  523. that there is one reason that we believe, and

  524. that is it's written in the Word of God. Whatever

  525. we believe, we ought to be able to support it

  526. with a chapter and a verse. And not just one

  527. chapter and one verse, but in the mouth of two

  528. or three witnesses, let every word be established.

  529. It ought to be a consistent doctrine throughout

  530. the scriptures. Not just even just one place

  531. that we just pull out of its context. Well, the

  532. Bible says, well, what does the rest of the Bible

  533. say? You ought to write that down. That is one

  534. of the primary rules of Bible interpretation.

  535. What does the rest of the Bible say? as well.

  536. Not just pulling one out and say, I found a new

  537. doctrine. What does the rest of the Bible say

  538. about that? That's the best way to understand

  539. Scripture is to see what the rest of Scripture

  540. says. Is that a consistent flowing doctrine all

  541. through the pages? Or do I need to study it a

  542. little more? Do I need to do a little more study

  543. on it? Now, did you find 2 Peter chapter 1? All

    2 Peter 1 chapter mention

  544. right, 2 Peter chapter 1, 16 through 21. And

    2 Peter 1 chapter mention

  545. this is where Peter is, he's about, he's come

  546. right down to the end of his life, and the Lord

  547. showed him he's going to have to put that tabernacle,

  548. that's his earthly body, he's going to have to

  549. put that off. And he says, after my decease,

  550. I want you to have these things in your remembrance.

  551. What things? The things he's preached to them

  552. in five chapters in his first letter, 1 Peter.

  553. The things he's already spoken here in this first

  554. chapter. And he didn't say, I want you to have

  555. my jokes in remembrance. He didn't say, I want

  556. you to have the suits that I wore, my ties in

  557. remembrance. He said, I want you to have these

  558. things in remembrance. These things. 4, verse

  559. 16. We have not followed cunningly devised fables,

  560. cleverly designed myths and stories. When we

  561. made known to you the power and coming of our

  562. Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of

  563. his majesty. And so he said, I'm not just giving

  564. you secondhand someone else's testimony and some

  565. secondhand story. He said, I saw it for my own

  566. eyes. I saw everything Jesus did. I watched his

  567. miracles. I watched him open blind eyes and cleanse

  568. lepers. I was up on the mountaintop when he was

  569. changed right before us. And he was transfigured

  570. right before us. That's Matthew chapter 17. He

    Matthew 17 chapter mention

  571. said in verse 17, For he received from God the

  572. Father honor and glory. When there came such

  573. a voice to him from the excellent glory, this

  574. is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.

  575. And that voice which came from heaven, we heard

  576. it when we were with him on the holy mountain.

  577. And so on your time, go back and look at Matthew

  578. 17 again, and you'll see that Jesus said, I'm

  579. going to take Peter, James, and John. We're going

  580. up to the mountaintop. And while he was there,

  581. he stood there, and he was transfigured before

  582. then. He became glistening. brilliant and glowing,

  583. just as he will when he comes to the clouds at

  584. the second coming. And they all fell on their

  585. faces. This bright, glistening, brighter than

  586. the sun was shining, and they were on their faces,

  587. and they heard a voice say, This is my beloved

  588. Son. Hear ye Him. And he said right there, that

  589. voice came from heaven. It didn't come from a

  590. loudspeaker down in the valley. It came from

  591. heaven. They saw the resurrected Christ. They

  592. saw, short of Saul of Tarsus, Paul on the road

  593. to Damascus, they saw Him in His resurrected

  594. form. They saw Him right there while He was standing

  595. there. become as He would when He'll return.

  596. And they heard the voice of God. They heard the

  597. voice of God speak. Now that's a vision. I said

  598. that is a vision. And then they heard God's voice

  599. with their own ears, and He says right there

  600. in verse 19, and we have a more sure word of

  601. prophecy. We have a more sure word of prophecy

  602. right here in this book, the Bible. Right here

  603. in this book, the Bible. And so He said, I'm

  604. an eyewitness of His majesty. I saw Him with

  605. my very own eyes. I saw the Lord Jesus Christ

  606. resurrected high and lifted up. I heard the voice

  607. of God Almighty from heaven come tumbling down

  608. and I heard it to say, this is my beloved Son

  609. in whom I'm well pleased. But we have a more

  610. sure word. That word in the Greek means more

  611. reliable, more certain, more immutable. More

  612. reliable. More dependable. Think about that.

  613. I heard the voice of God Himself. How many human

  614. beings can say that? I saw the resurrected Christ

  615. with my very own eyes. But we have a more certain,

  616. more stable, more immutable, more dependable,

  617. and more reliable Word. And you'd do well if

  618. you take heed to it. As a light that shines in

  619. a dark place, a day dawn, a day star rise in

  620. your heart, knowing this verse, no prophecy of

  621. the Scripture is of any private interpretation,

  622. for this prophecy came not in old time by the

  623. will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they

  624. were moved by the Holy Ghost. This Word is inspired

  625. in its entirety. And we don't believe something.

  626. We don't believe because somebody had a vision.

  627. We don't believe because somebody had a dream.

  628. We don't believe because I prayed and it worked

  629. for me. We don't believe because we saw a finger

  630. in fire right across the sky. We believe in the

  631. creation of all things. And we don't believe

  632. that because we can prove it scientifically.

  633. We don't believe that because we didn't find

  634. a monkey with a face that looked like a man.

  635. We don't believe it because we can understand

  636. how a God could create all the fowls of the air

  637. and all the fish and marine creatures all in

  638. one day. And once we can wrap our brain around

  639. it, then we'll believe it. No, we don't believe

  640. it because of that. We believe it because the

  641. Bible says it. We believe it because the Bible

  642. says so. That's why we believe in creation. We

  643. believe in the virgin birth of Christ. Never

  644. happened before. Will never happen again. But

  645. it happened that day. And there are others that

  646. want to come up with their ideas and their explanations.

  647. I don't believe it because somebody can't explain

  648. it. I believe it because the Bible says it. That's

  649. why we believe what we believe. Because it's

  650. in God's Word. We believe that the Red Sea parted.

  651. Not because the water was shallow or because

  652. the wind blew really strong. We believe that

  653. because the Bible says it. We don't believe it

  654. because they found a couple of chariot wheels

  655. down in 300 foot deep of water. We believe it

  656. because the Bible says it. We believe that Jonah

  657. spent three days and three nights in a dark,

  658. smelly belly of a very big fish or a whale, whatever.

  659. Not because we found the fish that could actually

  660. swallow a human being. Hey, you can believe the

  661. Bible now because we found this fish and it actually

  662. could happen. No, we believe it because the Bible

  663. says it did happen. We believe in a paradise

  664. called heaven, a place where all believers will

  665. go and spend eternity in the glory of God. And

  666. we believe in a horrible, detestable place of

  667. torment called hell. Not because it's popular.

  668. Not because the majority of Americans want to

  669. believe in hell. But because the Bible teaches

  670. it. The Bible reveals heaven. And the Bible reveals

  671. hell. We believe in Noah's Ark not because they

  672. found a few splinters up on a mountain in Armenia.

  673. We believe in the Ark because the Bible says

  674. it. The Word of God teaches it. We believe that

  675. Saul of Tarsus... traveling to Damascus, Syria,

  676. met the resurrected Christ on that road, and

  677. had a conversation, and his life was changed.

  678. in the twinkling of an eye. We believe that a

  679. young boy named David took one stone and slung

  680. it through the air and killed the greatest warrior

  681. on the planet whose name was Goliath. We believe

  682. that manna rained out of heaven for 40 years,

  683. six days a week, 52 weeks a year for 40 years

  684. because the Bible says so. We believe that a

  685. rock followed them around and poured out enough

  686. water to support 2 million people. Oh, pastor,

  687. you can't really believe that. Of course I believe

  688. it. Why? Because you tell me it's... It's impossible.

  689. It's in the Bible. I believe it. It's settled

  690. forever. That settles it for me. We believe that

  691. three Hebrew boys were cast by a heathen king

  692. into an extermination pot, a fire that he was

  693. so angry that he kindled seven times greater

  694. and threw them in so hot that the executioners

  695. died when they cast him in there and that those

  696. boys walked around right in the midst of that

  697. flame and the fourth came to walk amongst them.

  698. It was the Son of God. We don't believe that

  699. because it makes sense, because it's a great

  700. bedtime story. We believe it because it's in

  701. God's Word. We believe that the bones of Elisha,

  702. after the prophet of God died and was buried,

  703. and all the flesh rotted off his bones, that

  704. they threw a dead man into his grave one day,

  705. and that dead man stood up and was revived back

  706. to life. You can't possibly believe it. I can

  707. possibly believe it because it's in the Bible.

  708. I don't believe it because it's ever been done

  709. or because you believe it could be done. I believe

  710. it and you ought to believe it because it's in

  711. God's Word. I believe that Jesus died, that Jesus

  712. was buried, that on the third day Jesus was raised

  713. from the grave, that He ascended up into heaven

  714. and that Jesus will return because the Bible

  715. tells me that. I believe that Jesus loves me.

  716. This I know for the Bible tells me so. I believe

  717. in a hill called Calvary on a cross, an old rugged

  718. cross. I believe in a grave whose stone was not

  719. heavy enough to hold my Savior. I believe in

  720. the upper room on the day of Pentecost. And I

  721. believe Jesus is going to come to the clouds

  722. when the last trumpet blows. Because the Bible

  723. tells me so. Because the Bible tells me so. Stand

  724. to your feet. The Apostles' Creed may not be

  725. perfect, but it may very well be the best that

  726. the church has. Ready? I believe God the Father

  727. Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus

  728. Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived

  729. by the Holy Spirit. born of the Virgin Mary,

  730. suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified,

  731. dead, and buried. He descended into hell and

  732. on the third day rose again from the dead. He

  733. ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand

  734. of God. From there, He shall come to judge the

  735. living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit.

  736. I believe in the holy Christian church, the communion

  737. of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection

  738. of the body, and in life everlasting. Amen. Amen.

  739. And amen. I don't believe it because somebody

  740. prophesied it. So they got one right. They might

  741. have got a thousand wrong, but everybody makes

  742. a big deal out of it and they got one right.

  743. I don't believe it because somebody had a prophecy.

  744. I don't believe it because somebody had a vision.

  745. I don't believe it because somebody had a dream

  746. and that somebody might be me. I don't believe

  747. it because the Pope said it or the bishop said

  748. it. I don't believe it because Pastor Clement

  749. said it. I believe it because the Bible said

  750. it. Let the Bible be your firm foundation. Let

  751. the Bible be your source. Let the Bible be what

  752. you go to first and what seals and settles it

  753. for you for eternity. Let it be where you gain

  754. your instructions, your marching orders, your

  755. directions, your corrections. Your instructions.

  756. Let God speak to your life, and let this Word

  757. be settled in you forever as the Word of God.

  758. You'll never be sorry. You'll never, ever, ever

  759. be disappointed. The Word of the Lord is pure,

  760. and we consider all of His precepts concerning

  761. all things to be right. To be right. It's inspired,

  762. it's inerrant, and it is eternal. Inspired, inerrant,

  763. and eternal. Now, I'd like to ask you to be seated,

  764. but I'm not. Because that's my introduction.

  765. That's the introduction. Point number one. Introduction.

  766. Point number one. Matthew 9, 27. There has been

  767. an eternal, redemptive sacrifice. Made for you

  768. and I. Made for every human being. Every human

  769. being. Number one is Jesus. And he made an eternal

  770. redemptive sacrifice for us. Eternal redemptive

  771. sacrifice. And I'm going to get the 12. Hebrews

  772. 9 -12. We'll go back to Matthew a different day.

  773. Hebrews 9, 12. Neither by the blood of bulls

  774. and goats, but by his own blood, he entered once

  775. into the holy place, having obtained eternal

  776. redemption for us. We'll start with Jesus and

  777. his plan to redeem all of us. And if you're here

  778. today or if you're watching this broadcast or

  779. if you're even viewing it later, right now it's

  780. Sunday morning, the 5th of January, 2025. Shortly

  781. before 11 o 'clock here central time in Wisconsin,

  782. no matter when you're watching this, that eternal

  783. redemptive sacrifice was made for you, made for

  784. every member of the human race. Everyone. Everywhere.

  785. You can't go too far. You haven't done too much.

  786. And there is no such thing as hopeless with our

  787. God. You can be born again and you can accept

  788. that redemptive sacrifice today. And make the

  789. greatest decision of your life and your life

  790. can change. Your hopelessness can become hope

  791. -filled. You're decimated. You heard the email

  792. earlier. My life was a wreck, but look what the

  793. Lord has done. But as a Christian, we have to

  794. have one thing stable. We have to have one thing

  795. straight. We have to have one thing that we are

  796. immovable on, and that is that this book is God's

  797. Word. And it speaks to us, and we willingly accept

  798. and receive it and obey it. And obey it. I'm

  799. not the best on earth with a compass. I can get

  800. by. I'm not near as qualified and as experienced

  801. an expert. as a number of other people are. But

  802. I can get by. Know why I can get by? Because

  803. I know there's one unchangeable on that compass.

  804. I know there's one thing that is absolute principle

  805. that never changes. And that's that arrow points

  806. north. That's solidified. I don't have to pick

  807. it up every day and just wonder, well, I wonder

  808. what direction it's going to point today. I wonder

  809. if I turn this way, which direction it's going

  810. to point. It's always identically the same. Therefore,

  811. it can be trusted. I've been out in fog so thick,

  812. I couldn't have seen these people in the front

  813. row. I got lost in the fog one day with my dad,

  814. and it was getting dark. And we were on a lake

  815. with no development. None. Not one light. anywhere

  816. on the bank and unsure. Wouldn't have done any

  817. good when the fog came in because we couldn't

  818. have seen it anyway. I couldn't see him sitting

  819. in the front of a 16 -foot boat. I couldn't see

  820. him. It was that thick and it was getting dark

  821. and we were lost. And I remembered in my tackle

  822. box I had a compass. And I knew beyond a doubt

  823. that I was going straight east across that lake.

  824. And that compass said I was going northwest.

  825. And I took it and I shook it. I should have shook

  826. me. The compass doesn't change. I said, listen,

  827. the compass doesn't change. The compass doesn't

  828. ever change. But I have to trust the compass.

  829. And I said to my dad, this goes against everything

  830. I sense. It goes against everything I feel. It

  831. goes against everything I believe right now.

  832. Because I thoroughly, totally believe I left

  833. the west side of this lake, and I kept that thing

  834. straight, and I know I'm going east. But I'm

  835. going to believe the compass. Now, a different

  836. time I was out in my boat. You might think I

  837. spend a lot of time in my boat. Just know this.

  838. I don't spend near enough. And we were up in

  839. Canada. And, again, no development. A million

  840. ways to break your motor. And islands and rocks

  841. and reefs and just, and you have to go all, and

  842. we had a couple that were lost. And I said, I'll

  843. take you up to as far as the bridge, you can

  844. get to your cabin then. And I took them all through

  845. those islands and all through. And by the time

  846. we got there, it was pitch black. And I had asked

  847. him, do you have a light? They said, oh yeah,

  848. we have a light. I said, well, keep it shined

  849. on my boat and just follow me because I know

  850. the way. And I turned around and I see these

  851. people in this boat like this. That's the only

  852. light they had. You're in a million acre lake,

  853. man. And they're out there with a little cell

  854. phone light. So I gave them my big spotlight

  855. and then I went up and by the time I got back,

  856. it was pitch black. And my spotlight went out.

  857. But I've got this locator with GPS on it. And

  858. I've got a track on it. And I turned it on, and

  859. I kept my face just like this. Just like this.

  860. And it got so bad, I wanted to look around to

  861. see if I could see an island. And so finally,

  862. I pulled my hood up over my head and put it right

  863. over top of the locator. And I was driving down

  864. the lake like this, swerving to miss Big Rock,

  865. swerving to miss islands, swerving. And I never

  866. took my eyes off that track on that GPS because

  867. I knew that was unchangeable. And I could trust

  868. that track. And then when I got back, I pulled

  869. my hood up, and I was back, and there was the

  870. landing right there. If I can do that with a

  871. compass and if I can do that with a GPS, neither

  872. of them are eternal. Neither of them are divinely

  873. inspired. This is. This is. Make it what you

  874. trust. Keep your eyes glued to it. Keep it in

  875. the midst of your heart. Thank you for watching
