Acts Chapter 2

Well we won't prolong any further.

Um I'll turn it back over to you, Brother Brown.

I'm actually having camera issues, so I'm on my phone, so that's that's why I'm on my phone.

But I'll turn it back over to you.

Okay, sir.

Appreciate that.

Uh I will try to pick up from where we stop because time is always of essence, uh, especially when you're trying to press the olive berry and get the oil of light, uh, get the illumination out of these scriptures.

And I don't think God is bored uh any space between these 66 books.

That's not what I'm advocating.

But some things are a little more pertinent than others, because this is not just history, though it is for you and I, it's also uh prophecy being fulfilled.

I was just thinking as I asked a question leading into the Bible study, and maybe I should do more of that to provoke your minds.

When you're reading the book of Acts, it is Acts of the Actions of the Apostles, or the activities of the apostles, or the activities of the first century church.

I will concur.

I have no problem with any of those uh terminology.

But it's more than just that.

Um, this is everything in the old covenant, and it's quite a bit that was that's pointing toward the covenant uh that was to be established between God and Israel of old.

The new covenant was a covenant between God and Israel after the flesh, but it wasn't just to them, uh, but it was to them, but it wasn't just to them, it was those uh who had an ear to hear, those who had a heart after God.

And everyone would be included.

I won't take the time, but one of the most profound passages of scripture outside of the prophecies about Christ Himself is prophecy that's making reference to the New Testament church.

If we don't get that right, if we don't appreciate that, and put that in its proper um uh uh appreciation category, then when you read the epistles of the apostles, uh whether it's Paul, whether it's Peter, whether it's James, or whether it's John, if you don't get the appreciation of the book of Acts, those are just words without proper significance.

Because when you're reading those epistles, what you're seeing is a uh explanation of the book of Acts.

And the term in the book of Acts that you will read is called the Apostles' Doctrine.

Want to write that down.

It doesn't give you what the doctrine were, but it tells you how the people of God was established.

And when you read the actual epistles, this is an explanation of what the apostles' doctrine was.

And no one else, that's not another person or any people outside of those apostles who had Christ's teachings, no one else.

And because the book of Acts, when Luke was writing it, he wasn't addressing the specifics, and so he gives it a title, the apostles' doctrine.

And this is what the New Testament church was built upon.

And we often quoted it uh more time in past and present, but we, that is the New Testament church, is built upon Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone, but he built upon the um the foundation of the prophets' apostles.

That's that uh New Testament ministry that heard Jesus' teaching.

He says, and the prophets.

The prophets is not the Old Testament prophets.

I can prove that to you, uh, but it's making reference to the rest of the ministry.

He used the term prophets.

And let me just clarify, I don't want to leave too many things hanging.

John the Baptist was the last Old Testament prophet.

There wasn't another one.

This is why John the Baptist was beheaded, because God was not going to recognize another Old Testament prophet.

There will be no one else prophesying under the old Mosaic law.

And so he was beheaded.

He took that head off.

And now uh there was going to be a new regime, a new order.

And it starts with the apostles and the prophet's supporting cast, and then goes on to say Jesus Christ Himself, um, the chief cornerstone.

That's Ephesians.

Someone write these scriptures down as we touch on them.

That's Ephesians chapter 2, verse 20, I think it is.

Ephesians 2:20

I'm just getting a text.

I need to see what this is.

I seem to be important because it's keep coming.

Hold on one second.

Okay, I'll address that later.

Um, and so the Old Testament, though it points toward the New Testament in different categories.

Uh, the Old Testament points toward the saving, the Savior, which is Jesus Christ, but he also, Old Testament, it points toward that which Christ would establish, which would be his kingdom.

Um uh, and you'll see that come into manifestation in the book of Acts.

You can remember even the last of the Old Testament prophet um was John the Baptist.

And he had a simple message was to repent, uh, turn.

Uh, there was a reason for that because the kingdom of heaven, it actually was at hand, uh, meaning it wasn't far off.

And when Christ came, his message, and that's what John the Baptist was a forerunner, his message was very similar.

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

The kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, those are synonyms.

And so, and we're not doing too much uh review, the key scripture you want to always remember when you think about the old covenant, uh, from the time that Moses gave it up to the time that God cast, uh, that is, even the southern kingdom, uh cast them away, give them eternal judgment.

It's Jeremiah 31, 31.

This is a scripture everyone should you should commit that to your heart, to your memory.

Because anytime someone's trying to bring you under the old covenant, are they trying to teach you about ceremonies or judicial systems for righteousness, or giving you do's and don'ts and commandments, they don't have a revelation of Jeremiah 21, 21.

I'm sorry, 31, please forgive me.

31, 31.

And this is the answer.

This is the answer for everyone that's looking for righteousness under the law, um, because no by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

That dispensation is gone forever.

Someone read it from me real quickly.

Uh, Jeremiah 31, 31, and uh we look read the books of Acts.

This is the fulfillment of that.

This is the fulfillment of that great prophecy.

Someone read it for me, please.

Jeremiah 31 31.

Behold, the days come, said the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

Okay, listen, it's carefully.

Notice how he put it with the house of Israel, and it's a reason for that, and we'll dive in that in a few moments.

Uh, but it was to the Jew first, it was to the Jew first, as Paul said, but it's also to the Gentiles, but Jew first.

And there's a reason for that.

Not that God respected nations, he's not respect of persons, but there is a reason for that, and uh it was to bring an in, as uh I kind of provoked him with the Loquitan for those who come on a bit late.

Uh, it's to bring an in uh of the judgment of God upon Israel.

There will be no more judgments, it'll be executed in 70 AD, but there will be no that's eternal judgment.

And the judgment for which there'll be no more is judgment of correction.

He was not going to correct Israel anymore.

He was not.

Uh he was going to use their children, which were the apostles and those uh prophets and the New Testament ministry, those that came in to be the eternal judgment seat, a white throne judgment for the nation of Israel.

Uh, I won't go too far into that.

So in reading the book of Acts, it's paramount that you get the proper uh foundational understanding.

Because everything else you want to read throughout the New Testament is building upon these foundations.

Not the specifics, you see that in the epistles.

But what you see is they continue, everyone, they continue in the apostles' doctrine, not the Sadducees, not the Pharisees, not the Essenes, not the Levitical priesthood, not even the law of Moses.

All of that has been done away with, has been fulfilled.

But read the rest of this, brother Michael.

So as a day was gonna come when he prophesied about that.

He was making reference to the day of grace that started on the day of Pentecost, that he's gonna make a new covenant.

And this is what you read.

You're living under the new covenant.

Uh, you're living under the new testament.

Testament means covenant, and you need to understand something about the old to have a uh the right appreciation for the new.

Uh, and the old was given only to the house of Israel.

Uh go ahead, brother Michael, real real carefully.

Let's read.

I'm gonna press this scripture.

That was another one in my mind, but go ahead, sir.

Verse 32.

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which my covenant they break, although I was a husband unto them, said the Lord.

But this shall be the covenant.

So listen, let me explain those terms.

The word husband simply means one that you join to who has the authority.

And God was the husband to Israel.

Uh he married them, we often go over this, or he gave them their covenant that bound him to them and them to him on Mount Sinai in the 19th and 20th chapter, that is, of the book of Exodus, is where God joined himself to Israel and had Israel to enjoin himself to him.

And so that was a covenant.

But because she kept playing the harlot, he gave her a bill of divorcement and put her away.

First, the northern kingdom, which was replaced with gentiles, uh, in the place of the ten tribes that were scattered abroad, as no redemption for them, it's just a remnant was left.

He replaced them with Gentiles who tried to practice Judaism.

This is why it was to the Jews first, and then the Samaritans.

These are Gentiles who was practicing Judaism the best they could, because the people who was teaching them was uh a uh apostate ministry anyway.

That's why they got carried, the Northern Kingdom was carried into captivity.

Uh Jeroboam set up the bases of the people, not too much information, but enough that you can focus.

I want to grab your minds and bring this into focus because if we read the book or get into the book without proper appreciation, without proper hunger, it'll be words on a page without proper significance.

Um, so go ahead, brother Mike.

I'm gonna stop you a few times.

I'm sorry.

Yes, sir.

Verse 33.

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel.

After those days, said the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts and write in their hearts.

Beautiful.

Listen to this.

So it's no longer be written on table of stones, but started on the day of Pentecost.

He's going to write his laws in the hearts of the people, no longer, no longer on stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.

Who's going to do the writing?

The apostles and the rest of that ministry was going to write upon the tablets of the hearts of the people.

Prior to that, no such thing ever happened.

Uh, I want you to go over just to give us an appreciation.

Uh, because no other people, there's never been, I think we read that last week, Joel chapter two.

There's never been the people of the light, never.

There's never been such a people ever.

And uh go over to uh Isaiah chapter two.

I won't read all of it, though I'm I'm I'm tempted to.

Um well, go to verse 13.

If I had time, I would break it back, but I won't all the way to verse 9.

But for the sake of time, this is not the subject.

I just want to bring out an essential verse, a couple of them really.

Um, verse 13 sanctify, set apart, count as holy uh the Lord of hosts himself, and let him be your tread.

Don't be afraid of being put out of the synagogues, don't be afraid of being rejected by the religious leaders.

This is the prophecy.

Let him be your fear, let him be your tread.

And he shall be for a sanctuary, that's a hiding place for the people of God, but for a stone of stumbling, you want to write this down a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both houses of Israel, the northern kingdom and the southern kingdom, the little remnant that they had representing those ten tribes, he was going to be a rock of offense, because everything that Christ taught was contrary to the corner commandments of men.

And the order that he was establishing was contrary to everything that they believed prior to it, even so much that if you offer up a sacrifice, the prophecy is as if you had offered swine blood, uh, as if you had slew a dog.

So that's how detestable the law of Moses was going to be for those who still tried to keep it.

Um keep reading, brother Michael, that uh uh I stopped in the 14th verse.

Yes, that is Isaiah chapter 8, verse you said 2, but uh I'm sorry, forgive me.

Okay, and he that and he shall this verse 14, and he shall be for a sanctuary, but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock offense to both houses of Israel, for a ginn and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and many among them.

Go ahead, everyone who didn't come in.

This would mean a sanctuary.

Write that well, can't write everything down, but write sanctuary down, and that the last prophet to the nation of Israel, which was John the Baptist, he called that sanctuary a goner, he called it a goner, and it's where God's going to bring all the wheat.

Remember, Pentecost, 50 days after the first fruits.

This is where He's gonna bring all the wheat into that sanctuary, or as John the Baptist called it, and um was that Matthew's 3, round 13, 12, 13 verse, we can read it.

That's called a gunner.

And when you see on the day of Pentecost, at Ghana, it only had 120 links, that's all was to it.

That sanctuary only had a hundred and twenty stones, that's all it had when it started.

But what's miraculous in one day, 3,000 more stones gonna be added, and they're gonna be lively stones that build up a spiritual house or a spiritual sanctuary.

This is the birth of the New Testament church, and you can measure it.

What do you mean, measure it?

What was their order?

You can find it here, their problems, you can find it here.

Uh, when I say the order, how did they minister?

You'll find it here.

Uh, what was their teachings?

Well, it's gonna be expounded, their teachings uh in their epistles, but enough is uttered that you can see the framework.

And anytime we deviate from these doctrines of the apostles and prophets Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone, you're building another house.

You can call it the Lord's house, but it's another house, it's foreign to him.

But I don't want to talk on that too much.

Keep myself focused.

Let's go back.

Uh uh, I'm open to questions and comments, but if our mind isn't right and we think we're just reading some scriptures, we're not qualified to understand this book.

Um, you got to pull the husk back and get down to the corner, the germ corner corner of what this is saying.

This is where you're going to find the life.

Uh, it's critical because that's the only way you can measure the temple.

The temple is the sanctuary that he established.

It's the gonor.

You have to measure the temple and the altar.

That is where they bring this sacrifice, and they that worship therein inside of this temple is spiritual, not natural.

And this is what we mean by temple worship.

Well, go ahead, brother Mike.

I'm going to talk too much.

I'm trying to define these things.

But watch this.

Let me read it.

Verse 15.

Listen to this carefully.

And many among them shall stumble.

Among whom?

The inhabitants of Israel, the inhabitants of Jerusalem in verse 14.

They're going to stumble at the stumbling stone.

And Paul, how do they stumble?

First of all, they didn't believe such a thing that a nation can actually be born at once, a holy nation, a royal priesthood.

They didn't believe that.

And even when they saw it, he worked the work as he prophesied in this day that a man wouldn't believe it though he saw it.

They actually saw it, but they couldn't believe it.

And so this is what he calls.

This is a prophecy that's talking about this wonderful day.

And many among them shall stumble and fall and be broken, be snared and taken.

Wow.

Verse 16, and I'll stop.

Buying up the testimony.

What's the testimony?

It's called testimonies, it's called ordinance, it's called commandments, it's called his judgment, it's called his precepts.

It's talking about the word of God.

Bind up the testimony, that is the word of God, and seal the law among my disciples.

Not the law of Moses, because the Levites had that.

He means the law of Christ.

And the law of Christ, it trumps the law of Moses.

But never one didn't have it.

It was sealed, S-E-L, among Christ said, my disciples.

So if you wasn't one of his disciples, you really didn't understand Christ's teachings.

If you didn't understand his teaching, how can you live it?

How can you teach?

You cannot teach what you do not know and understand.

So no one else on the earth, no one on this earth had it, but those disciples, meaning his apostles and the others, which you include disciples, and this was sealed among them, absolutely sealed.

And so the things they did and said and taught was a fulfillment of all the Old Testament.

That's what it was.

And we can take chapter by chapter, I won't do it because we'll get stuck too long.

And you can see almost every chapter is fulfilling prophecy.

Almost every chapter.

Some is a beginning, and other portions will bring it to a conclusion.

One of the questions I just asked, I was just trying to provoke us before we started Bible study, since there was a lot of silence and stirring our minds up.

Acts that you see Christ's fulfillment when you read the book of Acts, how that he didn't suffer his disciples to teach none can go into the ways of the Samaritans, nor to the Gentile, but only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

It's a reason for that, because when he came, he came to get a goner.

He came to get a remnant out of the house of Israel.

That he's going to hide them, as he put in Ezekiel chapter 5, in the skirt of his garment.

Ezekiel 5 · chapter mention

The skirt of his garment is the same thing as the sanctuary, or the same thing as he says, a hiding place, or it is the uh the banner, a goner, I'm sorry.

He's gonna hide them and put them under that goner.

He's gonna put them on the skirt of his tail, uh his skirt.

He's going to put them in this sanctuary, a new sanctuary, a spiritual one, not the natural temple, but the temple of the Holy Ghost.

The people of God was going to be his dwelling place.

Okay, uh, I think that's enough of that.

Still trying to introduce it.

Uh, I won't, since I brought the question out, I should give you an answer.

And I won't take the time to read all the way through, it's too much.

But since I opened the can of worms, let me at least uh put them in their proper place.

When Jesus came, as you can read in Matthew's chapter 10.

Uh I think it's about it.

I don't want to do too much reading because I'm gonna lose lose time, but it's imperative that you get these keys.

Uh it names the 10th chapter, first uh few verses, enumerates and calls the name of the 12 apostles.

And verse 5 is a key, these next three verses, and these 12, he names the 12, Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the gentiles.

That's the Greeks or the other people.

Don't go to the Gentiles, he said, and Into any city of the Samaritans.

And so they forbid to preach the gospel to any Gentiles, and they were forbid to preach the gospel to the Samaritans.

Because the Samaritans was Gentiles who had been displaced by the king of Assyria into Israel.

If he took all the Israelites out.

And you can read this, I don't have time to go into it, but it's in 2 Kings chapter 17.

Write it down.

Go back and read that.

It's an parody chapter that you need to read that.

Understand what it's not just in the Bible.

Let me share something with you.

God is a God of order.

When you start reading from Genesis all the way down to the book of Jude, things are happening in an order.

It is everything is in order.

Everything.

It's less.

But it's written in order.

That's why you have the four gospels, and now you have the book of Acts, which is the implementation of the things that Jesus Christ had taught.

And not just that, all of the Old Testament being fulfilled.

That is pertaining to this New Testament church or the new covenant.

Let me stop and take questions.

Do I need to repeat or clarify?

I know I'm moving a little fast because it's a long journey.

And I don't want to let um want to let too much slip by that we don't address.

Okay, no questions, and let me keep uh let me keep rolling.

And so listen to this.

He couldn't get into the Samaritan.

Verse 6.

These are key verses.

Even if we go to the book of Acts, you have to understand some precepts and concepts.

Here's one.

When Jesus came, he came only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

To reach the rest of the world would be done in the order that was forordained of God.

The Jews, the people who had portion of the gospel, which is Samaritan, and then the uttermost parts of the earth, which is a Gentile.

And the reason it had to go to the Jews first, because Jesus Christ was coming in the evening time of the Jewish world.

He's about to judge them eternally.

This is uh we brought it up earlier.

I think he did a good job in a short time, Brother Kenny Patton.

But this is the fulfillment, not in totality, but everything except for the um execution of the judgment upon Israel that's prophesied in Daniel chapter 9, verses 26 and 27.

Daniel 9:26

When 70 weeks, that's a week of years, seventy weeks was determined upon Israel.

That God was going to cut them off and judge them eternally.

When Christ was born, he was born in the 69th year.

That we can we can show you these prophecies.

He was born in the 69th, not born, he started his ministry at uh 30 years old, which was uh 26 A.D.

write these dates now.

That's very important because the New Testament church was lurched launched.

I want you to get that Jesus started his ministry in 26 A.D.

He was 30 years old, he was only going to minister for seven and a half years directly.

He'll be taken off of the scene, but he didn't finish his week.

A week was seven years.

He would be cut off in the midst of the week, he would be put to death in the midst of his ministry, three and a half years.

And so Isaiah says, Who shall declare his generation?

The apostles did.

They finished out his week, his week being 70 years.

It was completed in uh the stoning of Stephen.

When they stoned Stephen, after that, persecution arose against the church, and now they scattered.

It no longer was just for the Jews.

If God was still dealing with them, he's going to execute his judgment in 70 AD.

Then it went to the Samaritan, which was Gentiles, who was practicing Judaism.

This is the order God had already forordained.

And then he brought them in, and then from them the uttermost parts of the world, which you see in Acts chapter 10, when he goes down to uh Tunillias' house.

So it's Jews, people who are Gentiles practicing Jews called Samaritans, and then out to the uttermost parts of to the Gentiles.

Can you all see that?

And so when you read in Acts, you'll see the fulfillment of that in the first seven chapters.

The first seven chapters.

When you read the first seven chapters of Acts, it's to the Jews only.

And the fulfillment of Christ's teaching is to the Jews only.

It's only when they rejected the gospel by stone and stephen, it they judged themselves unworthy of eternal life.

And now in 70 AD, which is less than 40 years, the judgment was going to be executed, but they was already judged.

It was executed uh some 30, what is it, 37 years later in 70 AD.

Too much information.

I'll stop.

Of course not.

Okay.

Just to clarify a little missed speech.

For the when they finished this week, that was the other three and a half years.

We just misspoke on it, so just want to make sure it's clear.

It's not 70 years.

The fulfillment of his week is the other three and a half years.

Jesus ministers.

Which the apostles, which the apostles did.

Let me take a moment.

To really press the oil, to get the olive, which is the letter, and press the oil to get the understanding out of it, you have to have a good foundation.

Uh we go back just real briefly.

I didn't think we'll get into this, but um we're here now.

Go to Daniel chapter 9, just one moment.

And let's go right now.

Keep the time short.

This is the first year of King uh Darius uh of the Medes.

And so we know exactly what year that is in history.

That's 33 AD.

And so this is actually, he's writing this 33 AD.

Wow.

And the fulfillment of this is going to be um 546 years later, until the fulfillment of this began.

Look, verse not verse 24.

Real quick.

Seven weeks are determined upon thy people.

These are weeks of years, not weeks of days.

It's like uh like Jacob, he wanted Rachel, and uh he had to serve for he had to serve his uncle, Laban, for seven years to get her, and he did.

And then, of course, Laban tricked him, and so he wanted Jacob to work for him for seven more years.

So Jacob he fulfilled his week.

He worked another seven years to terminology the Bible used as a week of years.

Let's go on.

I just want to give you keys.

Seven weeks are determined upon thy people, that was the nation of Israel, and upon thy holy city, that's talking about Jerusalem.

It's to God gave him that much time to change and to repent.

It's to finish the transgression, that's the end of it, and to make the end of sins.

Christ did that when he died on the cross.

But this is something else.

And to make reconciliation for iniquities, that's gonna be in Christ, starting the day of Pentecost, and to bring in everlasting righteousness that was in the New Testament church starting the day of Pentecost, and to seal, read this, we just read it, to seal up the vision and the prophecy, it was sealed among the disciples.

They understood it, and to anoint all this is going to happen, and that uh that's this span of time to anoint the most holy, which is Christ.

Verse 26.

This is the fulfillment of this.

Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem until the Messiah, the prince, that's Jesus Christ, is going to be seven weeks, three score, and two weeks.

If you write it down, three score means sixty, that's a total of six to nine weeks.

And the walls back then was going to be built even in troublesome time.

And then he tells you this: watch this carefully.

After three score and two weeks, the Messiah shall be cut off.

That's Jesus Christ.

He's going to be cut off, but not for himself.

And uh then he tells you about the court that was yet to come from the book of Acts.

That's not, it didn't happen in this book.

The people of the prince, that's the Roman legion, the prince being tithes, that shall come, shall destroy the city.

What city?

Jerusalem and the sanctuary, that's the temple, and the end thereof shall be with a flood, flood of destruction, to the end of the wars of desolation are determined.

I think uh let you read one last part and we'll stop.

And he that's the Messiah, the prince, that's Jesus, he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week, and started when he started ministering in 30 AD to 33.

Did I get that right?

No, I'm sorry, that's incorrect.

Um, and it's 30 AD to 33.

That's that's correct.

Listen, please listen to this carefully.

He confirmed the couple of men for one week.

This is he came in the sixth and ninth week, and one week would mean the seventh.

And the seventh week, let's read it, you'll see it.

In the midst of the week, he shall, the midst of the week is when he died.

He died three and a half years after ministering.

He shall cause the sanctuary, the sacrifice and the oblation, which is a free will offering, to cease.

There'll be no more sacrifices, there'll be no more turtle doves, no more rams, no more he goats, no more bullocks, no more sheep.

He put an end of all of that.

He fulfilled it.

When he was on the cross, he said, it is finished.

The sacrifice for sin had been made.

And so he was cut off in the midst of the week, which was three and a half years, but if seven weeks was determined, and that's only six and nine and a half.

So the apostles finished out his week.

Who shall declare his generation?

That's in our sales, chapter 59.

I won't take time to read it.

Well, the apostles did, and so he's put to death.

Remember that.

And so these men for 50 days, a tabernacle together, 40 days after Christ's ascension, uh, 10 days after his ascension.

And they was waiting to be induced, as Christ prophesied to them, they deshare from power from on high.

It was the power to officiate in the kingdom of God.

It was the power to put to death the old man.

Let's go now to the book of Acts.

Let me stop the next question.

I didn't mean to go so deep, but it's imperative that you get a good appreciation of the book of Acts.

The only thing of Daniel's 70 weeks that wasn't fulfilled is the execution of his judgment.

The word judged, it wasn't executed until every grain of wheat was taken out of Jerusalem, either through being put to death or by scattering.

Because when Titus came in in 70 AD, there wasn't one grain of week left.

God never destroyed the righteous with the wicked.

Getting a little bit deep, I don't want to go too far.

And that's for some of the older saints and some of the newer ones.

Uh let's go back and get at least in the chronological order of things.

Um, without the baptism of the Holy Ghost, they could only see things natural, they could not really see uh the things that Christ said.

He had many things to teach them, to say unto them, but he said, Hitherto or right now you can't bear it.

But when he, the spirit of truth, has come, he's gonna lead and guide you, he's gonna open up your understanding.

Hence, this is a spiritual book, and it takes the spirit of God, which calls men to write these things to help us to grasp them.

Uh where do we stop in the book of Acts?

Uh, the second chapter.

Do we finish the second chapter?

Did we finish the second chapter?

I don't think we started.

Yes, we never started.

We did finish the second chapter.

We did, no, we stopped at verse 18.

Yeah.

Um, I guess I'm giving you a summary from another perspective of that which you heard before.

So I want you to see this from every angle.

Um, you need a panoramic view.

You want to be able to see it from all sides.

So let's let's pick this up.

I won't go through the whole thing again, but they were instructed in Luke chapter 24.

It repeats that in Acts chapter 1.

Acts 1 · chapter mention

To go territory the word territory means wait.

You don't terry for the Holy Ghost, they was waiting until the day of Pentecost to fully come.

They didn't know the time and season, and Christ didn't explain it to them at that time, and so they waited in Jerusalem as they was instructed to.

And by the way, they slept in the upper room, but they went to the temple every day.

They was in the temple every day, and it gives you there was 11.

Again, 11 will not work because God is a God of exactitude, the God of order.

It had to be 12, that's the number of government.

And so they had to choose one man among all those who had been there from the baptism of John the Baptist right on to the time Christ was taken away.

We had to be with them all that time.

I mean it had to be one of those seventy.

Was God going to ordain to take Judas Iscariot place?

And of course, they all gave their voices.

The Bible uses the term the last fell on Matthias.

And he was named with the 11.

11 plus Matthias give you 12.

So now we have government.

We're ready for God to birth this church.

And he uses good terms.

Uh, the last two verses.

Uh, he came down the two men, and uh, verse 24, and they prayed and said, Lord, thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, show whether which one of these two thou hast chosen, not us, not us.

Who do you want that he may take part?

Get this turn, take part of this ministry.

This ministry was that apostolic ministry and apostleship, from which Judas, as Judas has carried by transgression, fell that he may go to his own place.

They gave forth their lots, they wouldn't cast in natural lots, they gave forth their voices, uh, and using a metaphor here, and the voices of the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the 11.

So now we have order, we have the 12, and of course, as we pointed out, 50 days, that's what Pentecost mean.

50th day from the first uh fruit, the wave offering, which was Christ.

50 days is what they were waiting on, which is a picture in the old testament of what God was going to do in the New Testament.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, there was all, not just the 12, but the 120.

It was all with one accord in one place.

By the way, I need to make this clear before we even get to it so we don't have a misconception.

That New Testament church when it was birthed, and Brother LJ reminds me that he told me this some great years ago when it was in Ashland.

And uh he said I would not acknowledge it.

I don't remember, so maybe he's correct.

I don't know.

Uh, but I got it now.

The 3,000 that was added on the day of Pentecost wasn't just 3,000 people.

That 3,000 was people who were spiritual-minded.

It was people who was already devout, people who was already committed, people was already faithful, including those who had resurrected in Matthew's 27th chapter uh of uh Acts.

I mean Matthew's verse 22.

Many of the bodies of saints were demonstrated, slept arose, included them, would have been the Old Testament faithfuls.

Uh there was included.

Many of the people who heard Jesus' words, or for whatever reason, they couldn't be part of the initial garment.

And so these people were already devout, it was already committed.

The reason this is so important is because when Christ launched the New Testament church, remember there was only going to be three and a half years that that church would be ministering to the Jews, giving the Jews a chance.

And he didn't have time for gag-gag goo-goos.

The church wouldn't be there long enough to the Jews.

They didn't have time to bring in babies and cardinality.

When we build churches today, we we have to work whatever comes in.

This church, what came in was 3,000 spiritual minds who already knew the law of Moses, already knew the righteousness, already had a good conscience toward God as in their time.

And so this wasn't an empowerment of people who was already faithful.

They didn't argue over simple things about your toes being out on your heels, can't carnality, uh, or even a submit to customs and uh standards that were set by the New Testament church.

They didn't resist that, it meant nothing to them.

And so when we say the uh when we say the 120 changed to 3,000, all they really changed to them was from the law of Moses to the law of Christ.

If the foundation be broken, what shall the righteous do?

Well, the foundation was broken of the Old Testament, and it came upon the foundation of the apostles and the prophets, the New Testament.

And so they weren't just any people, there was a very ripe, mature, dedicated people already.

And so when Peter stood up and preached, and I think well, I won't read all of it again.

Uh he was talking to a mixed multitude, some steep in Judaism, but some was devout.

It wasn't just religious.

And those who had an ear, those who were spiritual, they heard gladly heard his words and was baptized and was added to the New Testament church.

So what came in was not barracudas.

What came into that at Gonor was people who were spiritual minded.

People who were sowing seeds of discourse and causing strife and had their own ideals.

These people had already moved way past that.

Now, the reason for this great manifestation was going to be a witness to the whole world that a new phenomenon had happened.

But the people who wasn't spiritual made mockery of that.

The people who were spiritual, they understood the word of God.

Let's go back one more passage.

I hope I'm not going too fast.

I hope I'm not rounding with information.

But some things you have to get this down.

He said, with stammering lips and another tongue, will he speak to this people, yet they will not hear.

Someone bring that up.

Let's just read it for a moment.

And so this tongue was a sign, not for them that believe.

It wasn't a sign for the 3,000.

It was a sign for them that did believe that God was doing something special, something phenomenal, as the prophet had said.

And I'm gonna keep going.

Yes, sir.

I'm sorry, everyone have it.

Isaiah 28, 11.

Put it on the chest, put it on the chat so we can keep pace.

This is a fulfillment of even this prophet, a prophecy.

Fulfills a preponderance of prophecies.

And this is one.

What this people?

Israel, the Judaism, Judas.

Go ahead.

To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest.

And this stop, stop, stop.

This is the rest.

You want to write that word down, write that scripture down, rest.

This is where you rest from the works of the flesh.

This is the way you cease from working in the flesh.

Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 20, 11.

And 28.

Come unto me, all you that weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

He's talking about the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

You can rest from all these dead works.

This is a fulfillment of both Isaiah 28, verse 11 and 12, and it's also the fulfillment of Matthew's chapter uh 11, verse 28.

Isaiah 28:11

This is a fulfillment right on the day of Pentecost.

I'm sorry, Brother Mike, I won't interrupt you again.

This is the rest wherewith he ye may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing, yet they would not hear.

Wow.

This is a prophecy, they will not hear.

Those who could see the operation of God, they saw it.

They went into the New Testament church.

And those who did hear, and those who did reject it, what they were is the fulfillment of what John the Baptist said in uh Matthew chapter 3.

Matthew 3 · chapter mention

That was the that was the shaft that he was going to burn with unquenchable fire, eternal judgment starting in 70 AD.

So there's two classes of people that was wheat, then there was shaft in that temple.

They all heard the same sounds, they all saw the same things, but the wheat had an ear to hear and say, Amen, Lord.

But the shaft made mockery and they scorned, they ridiculed.

Um write those scriptures down, and so chapter acts.

We've I'm sorry, Acts chapter two.

I'm trying to talk too fast.

Uh, and so in this day, verse one, we went over it, just gonna touch it briefly.

When that day was fully come, I mean it was the night.

Remember, I told you last week, Jewish day started in the evening, and then it's the evening in the morning, it's the first day.

So here, when it was fully come, it's daylight now.

It was all with one accord in one place.

If I had to speculate, it's gonna tell you you don't have to speculate.

It's about the third hour of the day.

So it's about nine o'clock in the morning.

And suddenly there came, of course, he'll tell you that a little bit later, there came this sound from heaven, so they heard something before they saw it as a rush of mighty wind.

And it filled not the whole house, not all the temple, but where they were sitting.

So that tells me right there that spiritual people congregate with spiritual people.

The flaked people, the shafted people, they're going to hang with shafted people.

Wheat attract wheat, shaft attracts shaft.

You can see it, it's where they were sitting, not everywhere, but where they were sitting, and then come the manifestation in verse 3 appear on them clothing, means two, kinds of tongues, like as a fire.

Fire representing the very presence of God.

You know these things, the judgment of God and the purification.

But this is not for judgment on Israel at this time, this is the presence of God.

Uh, of course, we can show you that, and you all don't have to, you already know that.

Uh and they was all filled with the Holy Ghost, and this is the key, and began to fulfill Isaiah 28, verse 11.

Isaiah 28:11

Began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance.

I watch these key words here, and then we went over, just gonna try to touch it and keep moving.

And there was dwelling because they came in to celebrate Pentecost.

Devout men, that's what you want to underline the vowed, devout, dedicated spiritual soul out of every nation under heaven.

That's where the Jews had been dispersed and where they made their home uh during the dispersal.

And so they came back to keep the feast days as was commanded under the law of Moses, because they still was living under the law, and so they was in every place.

God had them to come down to Jerusalem for such a time as this.

And when it was noise abroad, the multitude came together and they was confounded because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

And then, of course, he began to uh name these different uh nations from which they came out, and go down to uh verse 11.

There was creeds and Arabians, say we do all hear them speak, my God, in our own tongue, the wonderful works of God.

Uh, because in verse 7 they said it was all amazed, and then Marvel saying, One to another, behold, are not all these Galileans, how hear we?

Every man speak in our own language, so they was able to manifest a manifestation of something supernatural.

And then, of course, watch this.

And they was all amazed and were in doubt.

These are the scorners, saying one to another, What mean is this?

Other marking.

Listen, these men are full of new wine.

But Peter standing with the 11, and they're showing you the operation of his hand, they stand together.

Uh, I was talking to a precious brother, he had some questions.

And I told Max and the brothers, he said, Well, I don't want to get different answers.

You're not gonna get a different answer.

If any brother been here for 45 years, uh there's only one truth of the word of God.

You can you're not gonna ask a brother who's sitting on the platform, or uh brother who may need to be on the platform by his choice, as brother Kenny Patton.

You're not gonna give a different answer.

You can ask them.

Whatever you ask me, you can ask them.

You'll get the same answer.

And of course, uh, I told him that, and I'm sure now he's trying to see because he and I talked for hours, and I'm sure he went back to examine it.

But you only get one answer because there's only one truth.

Keep reading, and so they standing up with the 11, lift up his voice, and said, Ye men get this of Judea and all that dwell at Jerusalem.

He goes on to tell him, uh, be this known unto you, hearken to my words.

For these are not drunk as you suppose, seeing this but the third hour.

I remember going over the last week of the day.

Jews counted time by hours.

First hour from six o'clock to the seven o'clock is the first hour, from seven to eight, second, and then from eight to nine is the third.

So this is uh fully come.

This is uh nine o'clock in the morning.

Then I think I remember going over this prophecy.

Remember, I'm telling you, this is prophecy being fulfilled, though each one of them is not stated.

You can see them.

And so now the reason that Peter even used this is because these people understood, they read the Bible, they understood the Old Testament teaching.

He wasn't talking to Gentiles, he wasn't talking to the unsaved or the unredeemed.

Remember, he said, only go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

This is why, because he didn't have time to bring people in and try to tell them to get rid of their idols, uh, to stop worshiping your flesh, stop putting your flesh on display, uh, stop being loose-living.

These people was already living clean.

He didn't have to tell them about quit fornicating, quit committing adultery, quit stealing and killing and robbing, quit being nasty.

They didn't have those issues.

It was already spiritual-minded.

Okay, so he explained to them something that they had been reading, they just didn't understand.

And he quoting the prophet Job, telling you what in Job chapter 2, verse 28.

It's going to come to pass in the last day, said, Well, I'm going to pour out my spirit upon all flesh.

The flesh he was talking about was Judish flesh, men and women, everybody who's in this temple.

And it's going to start with them, then the Samaritans, right on down to the Gentiles.

And then of course, we've read that.

What verse we stopped in?

Well, verse 19.

Okay, let's finish reading then.

I'm gonna read on down to it.

I'm determined, at least finish this chapter, and I got plenty of time.

I can make it.

I just want to squeeze these olive berries.

I want us to get some good understanding, some sound understanding.

It didn't just happen, it was already in the pre-fordained plan of God.

It was the predetermined counsel of God, what he was going to do.

And now he's working all things after the counsel of his own will.

It's what makes the counsel of God irresistible because you can't alter it.

You can't slow it down, you can't hurry it up, you sure can't change it.

Going to have this way in the whirlwind and in the storm.

The clouds are just the dust of his feet.

Uh, nothing can be added to it, and nothing can be taken away from it.

It's called the immutability of his counsel, meaning there is no change in it.

Immutability means inner inner inability to change, it cannot be changed or altered.

And so everything is happening according to the counsel of his own will.

Then he goes on, because it was going to be men and women.

How do you know that?

Because there was on Solomon's porch.

They'll show you that in the next chapter.

On Solomon's porch, the men and women could go.

And it held thousands of people.

Hence, when they heard these people speaking in tongues, they were all in the same place, as far as on the porch is concerned.

And they all heard the same thing.

But the people of God with ears to hear, they heard something different.

And the scorners, they heard nothing but a ridicule.

Pause right here for a second.

It's the third time the scripture came to me.

We're gonna stop and read it.

And you have heard me touch on this or preach this or blow this trumpet a thousand times over, no doubt in my mind.

I know you have, and you've been around me for a while, because it's a profound prophecy.

Go to Matthew chapter 3.

Matthew 3 · chapter mention

I mentioned tonight, and you have to write this down.

This is the fulfillment, this is where the fulfillment of this scripture is, and I can go on and on, but these are key scriptures that you need to see.

Verse 11.

And this is one of the most outstanding scriptures that you're gonna find pertaining to the New Testament church, and him bringing the Jews in first.

Uh, to give you context, to give you context.

Verse 5: this is John the Baptist, he's the forerunner of Christ.

I'm just gonna skip.

Then it went out to him, Jerusalem, that's the citizens, and all Judea and all the regions round about, notice there's no Samaritans, notice there's no Gentiles.

And it was baptized of him that's Jordan, confessing their sins.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, that's the religious leaders, come to his baptism, that's nothing but shadow.

He said unto them, O generation of vipers, look what he calls them, serpents, who warn you to flee from the wrath to come.

You're right in your Bible 70 AD, right there.

He said, Bring forth therefore fruits, meet for repentance.

And I was talking to a precious brother, of course.

I come from the same school of thoughts where you just add Christ to what you're doing, you're saved, you got nothing else to do.

But that's not the truth.

James said, faith without works is dead.

So you have to bring forth fruits.

Fruits don't mean help the little ladies cross the street and give them the salvation.

Amen.

It means dying out to self, it means overcoming our nature.

That's works.

But it's not, you're not saved by works, you're saved by faith because you have faith and you do the works.

You overcome.

John the Baptist called it bringing forth fruits fit for repentance, assureing repentance.

Turn.

Now, so he's talking to these religious leaders.

I'm trying to hear it somewhere, but stay with me.

And he tells them, no, don't even think within yourself that we are the descendants of Abraham.

We have Abraham to our father.

For I say unto you that God is able of the term he used, these stones, these stones to raise up children to Abraham.

Well, of course, he's talking about the Roman soldiers who's who was always gathering to watch over people, and there was a number of people.

He said, Now it's the Acts.

That's talking about this good word of God, laid to the root of the trees, the trees of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Therefore, every tree, each one of those denominations which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, I mean cut down and cast into the fire.

That's 70 AD.

Now watch this real quickly, and you're going to see the fulfillment.

John said, I indeed baptize you with water to repentance.

I can do that.

But he that cometh after me, he's prophesying about Christ, because he was going to come six months after his ministry.

He that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I'm not worthy to bear, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Wow.

That's on the day of Pentecost.

That's the people he was talking to.

And not only that, he says, and with fire, that's for purification.

Verse fan, verse, verse 12 is the key.

Whose fan, my God, is in his hand.

The hand was the New Testament ministry.

The fan was the anointing that God gave them using the word of God.

And he's going to thoroughly purge his floor.

That's the threshing floor of Israel.

You have to understand the terminology.

When they brought the wheat, they went to a threshing floor and they beat it.

And all the grain fell to the floor, and what was left was nothing but shad.

They threw it in the air in a Mediterranean circuit of wind, just blew it away.

So look what he said.

His fan is in his hand.

He's going to thoroughly purge his floor and gather his wheat.

That's the people.

Remember, I told you Pentecost was the beginning of the wheat harvest until the goner, until the barn, and to the store, and to his sanctuary, and to the New Testament church.

But he will burn up the shaft, that's everything he blew out, with unquenchable fire.

That's 78 D, which he prophesied about the fire would not quench, be quenched, and the fire would not go out.

He was talking about 78D.

That's the only portion in the book of Acts that's not fulfilled of the 70 weeks of Daniel.

Daniel was fulfilled, except the judgment portion of it being executed.

Okay, I'm gonna stop for a moment before I go any further.

Anything need to be clarified, brothers?

Any misspoke or mispronunciation or uh anything I said foggy?

But in Matthew chapter 25, when he says, all of the blood from righteous Abel and Zacharias, who you slung but who you slew between the porch and the altar, shall be required of this generation.

That's a prophecy that's being fulfilled in 70 AD, correct?

That's absolutely correct, sir.

Shall be required of this generation.

A biblical generation is 40 years.

From the time that Christ said that was a little less than 40 years.

I would like I'd like to ask you, can you return back to the thought concerning the uh 490?

I think you begin to mention that.

Um when he Jesus said, How often shall you forgive your brother?

He said seven times, it's that seven times seven.

It's no seven times seventy.

But I think that ends at the end of stoning of Stephen, which is 490 years, at that time he cut him off.

I think that was the ending of that that Jewish ministry, I think, if I'm not mistaken.

Is that correct?

The Jewish world.

The Jewish world.

Yes, sir.

But you're absolutely correct and point on, Brother Michael Nelson.

Absolutely correct.

And this is why I was even brought this up as we're talking.

There's so many prophecies being fulfilled in the book of Acts.

And if we don't see them, if we don't see them, we won't have the right uh respect and appreciation for this book.

When you're reading the epistles, listen to me carefully, it's just an explanation of the things the apostles taught.

And when you're reading the book of Acts, again, it's called the Apostles' Doctrine, which wasn't his or theirs, it was Christ's doctrine.

It's what Christ actually taught.

Let me clarify something for your record.

Everyone write this down.

There's the gospel of Christ.

Write that down.

The gospel of Christ.

That's talking about Christ, talking about the things he did and the things he taught, not the things he taught.

It's about him, his conception, his birth, his life, and his death.

That's the gospel of Christ.

It teaches you who he was.

Then there's the gospel of Christ.

Christ's gospel.

I'm sorry, that's Christ's gospel.

Christ's gospel is the teachings, Matthew 5, 6, and 7.

That's Christ's gospel.

That's not about Christ, that's what he taught.

You can hear the gospel about Christ almost any church.

A gospel of Christ.

But you're not hearing Christ's gospel.

The one who heard Christ's gospel was those apostles.

When they received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, it brought all things back to their remembrance, whatsoever he said.

He was able to expound that.

And they did that.

And fellowship and break and bread.

As I told you often of the last several months, when the church started, the church that Jesus started, it was a fellowship, it was a community.

It wasn't an organization, it wasn't a denomination, it wasn't a cult, a schism orism.

It wasn't.

It was a fellowship.

It was a community.

A real one.

This was God's judgment upon Israel.

The reason we appreciate it, because like he prophesied what was going to happen to that church in the wilderness or the Old Testament church, the same thing happened to us.

He said that the church would fall away.

It also said that the church would be restored.

He says, in what is that, Isaiah 11, 11, he's going to put his hand a second time.

He's going to place his hand a second time in the earth to gather a remnant of his people.

Like he gathered a remnant of Israel, and then he judged Israel.

He's going to gather, excuse me, a remnant of his people, and he's going to judge the church world.

The reason I can be so animated and so confident about it, because as he did it before, he fulfilled his prophecy.

He's going to fulfill this one.

Now, I appreciate that.

Let's pick it up so we can make sure we finish this chapter.

I think that's the 17th verse, and I'll go rapid on these first few verses.

And it shall come to pass in the last as the last days of Israel being in the Garden of Eden, of being in paradise, of being in the kingdom that God established, of being in favor with God.

Those are all synonyms.

I'm going to pour out my spirit upon all flesh, all in male and female.

It makes no difference.

This is used initially.

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, because they're both going to receive the Holy Ghost.

Your young man shall see vision, and your old man shall dream dreams.

And not just on that, but on my servants and my handmaiden I will pull out in those days.

This is what Job prophesied about of my spirit.

And they shall prophesy.

And so Peter reaches over to Job chapter 2 and he takes this scripture and he puts it where it belongs, the last days of the Jewish world.

Job 2 · chapter mention

People read it and they try to put it on this end.

He's not talking to you, he's talking to the nation of Israel.

Joel then prophesied to Gentiles.

He didn't prophesy to Samaritans, he prophesied to the people of God of the old covenant.

And this is the fulfillment.

Then he goes on, he's going to show his judgment.

And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth, blood, fire, and vapor to smoke.

That's showing his judgment.

You're going to see it.

And the sun, that's the thing that Jesus Christ was teaching.

It's going to be turning to darkness.

They can't even see it.

And the moon, that's the old testament, into blood.

Before that great and notable day of the Lord come, right down 78 D.

That's going to burn them up.

That's not going to leave neither uh how you say the root nor branch.

Uh, I'm talking.

Go to Malachi chapter three, real quick.

Uh last book in the Old Testament.

And this is the last of the writing prophets.

He was the last.

God had prophets, none of them was writing prophets.

So for 400 years, God didn't record another, he didn't record another word until John the Baptist came on the scene.

That's our angry.

God was with Israel.

Verse chapter 4, verse 1.

This is the same day, 78 D.

And this is the last days of the Jewish world.

And so what Jesus was doing through his ministry, getting all the wheat and putting them into the gone, into the sanctuary, and the rest gonna be burnt up.

For behold, the day cometh, that's 78 D.

You can write it down.

That shall burn as an oven, and all the proud, that's religious leaders, and all that do wicked, that's the rest of Israel, shall be stubble.

Stubble is the same thing as shadow.

And the day, 78 D that cometh shall burn them up.

There's no restoration, said the Lord of hosts, and it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

I don't know how we can't see that.

That speaks pretty plain to me, but here's the exception.

But to you that reverence my name, fear my name, shall the sun, capital S-U-N, illumination of righteousness shall arise in those apostles with healing in his wings.

The old and new testament, they can see it.

The light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun.

And the things you did understand, the light of the sun shall be sevenfold.

Listen, and he shall go forth and grow up.

Here's the key.

Again, it's no such thing as just add Christ to what you're doing.

You got to grow up.

He said, as calves of the star.

And they shall tread down the wicked.

They judge the rest of the Jewish world by doing right.

There shall be ashes on the soles of your feet in that day, 78 D, that I shall do this, said the Lord of hosts.

Go back.

That's the same day you're reading about in Acts chapter 2, he prophesying, fulfilling the interpretation of the prophecy of Joel.

Acts 2 · chapter mention

Now, verse 21.

And it shall come to pass that whosoever that's male, female, hand servant, maidservant, old men, young men, doesn't matter, whosoever come on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Now you have to understand the word saved doesn't always mean the same thing.

They're gonna be saved from the wrath to come, and we saved from 70 AD.

And if they follow on the noble Lord, you'll actually be saved from death, eternal death, second judgment, should I say.

Okay, now let me finish this up.

Now he's given them the prophecy that's being fulfilled, and now he's gonna try to explain this to you a little deeper.

He said, You men of Israel, and watch this terminology, ye men of Israel.

That's who he was talking to.

Not to Samaritans, not the Gentiles, not the Greek, ye men of Israel.

Hear these words.

Jesus of Nazareth, a man, approved of God.

There's two different ones among you by miracles and ones and sign, which God did by him in the midst of you.

And you can't deny it, as you yourself also know.

You know that.

Him being determined, I'm sorry, being delivered by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.

Look at those words, though.

Determined counsel and foreknowledge of God.

He had a plan.

From the foundation of the world, a lamb was slain.

This is fulfillment of it.

He has fulfilled it.

Isaiah chapter 53, he's a man of sorrows and acquainted with Greek.

You fulfill that.

That's his determined counsel.

For David spaking concerning, I foresaw the Lord always before my face.

He is on my right hand that I should not be moved.

Baeg was prophesying, that's the spirit of Christ in him.

And so he said, David uh spake, he means the spirit of Christ that was in him.

He's prophesying.

Because Christ always kept back that Father was on his hand.

He was not going to be moved off his predestinated purpose.

Therefore, did my heart, this is Christ, speaking through David, through the Psalms, Psalm 16.

Therefore, my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad.

Moreover, also my flesh shall go to the grave and hope.

My flesh shall also rest, asleep, and hope that this is not the end.

Why can he do that?

Because thou, God the Father, would not leave my soul.

This is Jesus' soul in hell.

Did Jesus' soul go to hell?

Yes, Hades of the grave is translated hell.

His soul wasn't left there, neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to seek corruption.

His body was not going to decay into ashes.

For thou he's prophesying, this is David.

For thou hast known my ways, the ways of life, thou shalt make me full of God with thy continence.

Now, oh wow, still got a little space to go.

Men and brethren of Israel, who he's talking to, let me freely, let me interpret this for you.

Let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David, talking about King David, that he's both dead and is buried.

His sepulchre is with us to this day.

Other translations said he died and was buried.

And his sepulchre is with us.

But then saying he's in it, that's a translation problem.

Therefore, brother, we discussed that.

Therefore, being a prophet, as the Spirit of Christ was moving and speaking through him, knowing that God has sworn with an oath to him, that is, to David, that the fruit of his lawn, talking about Jesus, according to the flesh, that is his natural posterity, he's going to raise up Christ to sit on his throne.

Eternal throne, the throne of David, the real and eternal kingdom.

Seeing this, that is David, before spake of the resurrection of Christ.

Not by himself, but with the resurrection of Christ.

That his soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption.

This is the first message preached in the kingdom of God.

The first message priest in the kingdom of heaven.

The first message preached under the new covenant.

This Jesus God raised up, wherefore we are all witnesses.

The apostle's message was to be a witness of the resurrection of Christ.

That He died, buried, He resurrected, and ascended back.

It's the same thing for you and I.

We died.

When you baptize, you're baptized for the dead, the death of the old man.

You resurrect the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and you are ascending.

But you have to finish your course just like he finished his.

And verse 32 is the key because you want to hear that redundantly.

They kept bearing witness of the resurrection of Christ.

That's the key.

You want to remember when he said you should be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaritan.

There was witness of his resurrection and the gospel thereafter.

Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted.

And having received of the Father, I want you to get these terms because it's not the same.

Because a lot of people believe they have received the Holy Ghost when they're converted.

Well, the apostles were converted before they went to Jerusalem, but they still had to wait to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus went through Samaritan, and uh it was necessary for to get back to Galilee.

He just told them that he was the Messiah.

And a message of the Messiah, they never heard what that entails.

So they believed that he was a messiah, but he gave them a message that you worship and you don't know what.

But the Jews, we know what we worship salvation of the Jews.

So let them know, even right then and there, you're gonna have to come in to the kingdom of God, uh be in Jerusalem and receive the Holy Ghost, or you're gonna be just as he did in the uh uh give me one second, I'll I can pull it up.

The 15th chapter of the book of Matthews.

That was that was a woman of uh a Seraphonesian woman, she was a gentile, and Christ gave her crumbs.

This woman was a Greek, she was a gentile, a sorophoenician by nation, telling you what kind of Greek she was.

This is a nationality.

She besought him or begged him that he will cast forth the devil out of her.

Listen to Jesus' words, verse 27.

But Jesus said unto her, Let the children of Israel, let the children first be filled.

For it is not fit or meat to take the children's bread.

That's the good word of God, and cast it to dogs.

Yes, he was calling the Gentile a dog.

And she answered and said to him, Yes, Lord, yet the dogs on the metaphor of table eat of the children's bread.

And he said unto her, For this end, go thy way.

The devil has gone out of a child.

So what he gave her was a crumb.

And as all healings and miracles are just crumbs, if you don't get the word of life with understanding, you just ran off with some crumbs, but you didn't get the bread of life.

And the same thing about the woman in the well.

It showed her some great grace, but she didn't get the broke, the loaf.

She didn't get the bread because it was only given to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Good question, though.

And this is why on the day of Pentecost, this was only a spiritual people came in first.

And then from there, I will stick with this next you're going to see 5,000.

But the 5,000 wasn't as spiritual as the 3,000.

But you had the 3,000 added to the 120.

And so the next group who comes in, they still was Jews.

They may not have been as high, but they still were Jews.

And so there would have been some work, but it wouldn't be nearly as much work as dealing with heathens.

That's what the word Gentiles mean.

When Jesus died, he died spirit, soul, and body.

He didn't have his own spirit and he didn't have the spirit of God.

He died.

For the first time from his existence, he was without the Holy Ghost or without life.

But God sent the Holy Ghost.

He sent the Holy Ghost and raised him up.

See, what you see here is the words that Peter is using, but watch this.

Go to Romans chapter 8 real quick.

And we get into the epistles, you're gonna see they're just elaborating on the thing uh that was explained it.

That is our in the uh book of acts.

But if the let's talk about the Holy Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead, I'm gonna read again.

But if the spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken and make alive your mortibodies.

So while you live in this body, you can still be moved by the spirit of God, by his spirit that dwelleth in you.

And so that's the key.

He's saying the same thing that Peter is saying.

God promised that he would raise him up, but it's by his spirit.

And so when he received the spirit of God, that was the spirit of life, the Holy Ghost, he resurrected.

Now, uh, verse 34 for David has not ascended, David himself, showing David wasn't talking about himself, he's talking about Christ.

For David is not ascended into the heavens, but he said unhe said this himself, but he said himself, the Lord.

He's talking, this is the Spirit of Christ again, said unto my Lord, my God, sit thou on my right hand.

As God the Father talking to his son, sit thou on my right hand.

This is what God said to him, till I make thy foes thy footstool.

Therefore, let all the house of Israel, again you see who he's talking to, to the Jews first, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Wow.

He's both ruler, that's what the Lord is, and he's Christ, he's the anointed one sent from God.

Now, when they heard this, real quick, because he's talking to people with ears to hear.

When they heard this, they was pricked in their heart.

That is, they was convicted, said unto Peter, and listen to this, not just Peter, it wasn't a minister, it was a ministry.

And to the rest of the apostles, Peter and the rest of the apostles, they all stood together, men and brethren, all of you all, what shall we do?

Here's a simple plan of salvation, and you're gonna see both faith and you're gonna see works.

Listen, Peter said unto them, repent.

That's by faith, that's your act of faith.

That's your initial faith to be saved.

He repent.

But then he says, and be baptized.

That's an act.

The word works mean deeds or act.

Being baptized is a fruit of your repentance.

Being baptized is a work, it's a deed, it's an act, it's an activity.

So, yes, you're saved by faith.

You are saved by faith, but it's unto good works.

Not dead works, but good works.

Why are you saying that, Brother Brown?

Because you have to follow on.

You start with water baptism, but then you have to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time.

Uh, you have to deny the flesh, you have to you got to take off and put on.

You have to set your affection on things above, not on things of this earth.

You have to mortify, Paul said, the deeds of this body.

So, yes, these are works.

But the works don't save you.

No, external and carnal works doesn't save you.

Working on you until you look like Christ does save you.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

So is faith plus works of righteousness, works of righteousness working on yourself till you look like Christ.

And no discharge in this war.

Okay, for the promise, that is, of the Holy Ghost.

This is the this is a term he calls the Holy Ghost.

It's called the promise, it's the promise of the Father.

For the promises unto you, Israel, Judas, and to your children, that's the young and the old, and to all that are far off, that's the Gentiles, even as men as the Lord our God shall call.

And with many other words, he didn't give you everything.

That's why we got these writings of the epistles.

He did testify and exhort, saying, Here's another work.

Baptism is a work.

Save yourselves, deliver yourselves from this untoward generation.

Save yourselves, deliver yourselves, separate yourselves, cleanse yourselves, wash yourselves.

That's a work, but you're not working externally, you're working on you, on your nature, until it looks like Christ.

Okay, here we go.

Then they not everybody heard this and did it.

But he said, then they that gladly receive his word.

You want to underline that?

That's a very special class.

Then they that heard his word, not everybody, they did the works, they baptized, was baptized, and the same day there was added to them about three thousand souls, and that's the fulfillment of an old testament uh scripture.

When Solomon built the temple, he made a blazon sea, uh he calls it a sea, a brazen sea, and it had 12 oxens, three to the east, three to the west, three to the north, and three to the south, showing the apostles looking out for the welfare of the people.

And that brazen sea was sitting on his back.

And the Bible said they have three thousand baths, and that's what you saw.

Three thousand entered into this brazen sea.

They took a bath and washed themselves, it was baptized and became part of the kingdom of God.

That's a wonderful picture in the Old Testament.

And here's the key.

I want to look over these verses.

I know it's time.

Nothing in here is out of words.

Then reverence is translated fear, all that represents fear came upon every soul.

Wow, even those who didn't believe, everybody, fear came upon them, and many wonders and signs.

That's another word for miracles, was done by the apostles.

I get this, and all that believed were together and had all things common.

I hate some translations because they're put in common, didn't say in common, they had all things common.

Common meaning they shared it.

In common mean we got similar items.

No, it's not in common, it was common.

And some translations just they helped the Bible too much.

They don't need help.

Leave it alone, please.

They had all things common.

What do you mean, common?

Read the next verse.

And sold their possessions and goods and departed them to all men.

They didn't do it by giving to them directly, they gave it to the apostles.

You'll see that in the next chapter.

Anyway, as every man had need.

And I want you to get this.

The reason we tell people today, don't sell all your goods and give them out as every man had need.

Because the problem we have today was so cornal, it'd be as every man had greed.

Not need.

Greedy people couldn't stay in the kingdom.

Leechers and moochers was they were given death sentences.

That's one of the things I try to teach people.

Don't mooch, don't look for something for nothing.

You find yourself outside of God like that.

Well, in the last two verses, and they, I want you to get to get this word, they didn't go to the temple and they continually deal with one accord in the temple.

Remember, this message was on the day of Pentecost, and it was the same place where they received the Holy Ghost.

It tells you right here, with one accord, this time it tells you where?

In the temple.

All this happened at the same time.

It was not in an upper room, it was in a temple.

What temple?

Solomon's temple.

And they went from breaking bread.

Here's where the word of God was expounded.

And breaking bread from house to house.

It was a community, it was a fellowship.

And they did eat their meat, their food, spiritual food, bread that came down from heaven that a man could eat thereof and not die, with gladness and seenness of heart.

That is, there was a continuity, there was a coherence.

Coherence means that every part of the unity worked together for one common goal.

There was a cohesiveness in their seenness of heart.

It was praising God and having favor with all the people who reverence God and the Lord added to the church deli, such as should be saved.

And made it through this wonderful second chapter.

It's eye-opening.

And so now you see the birth.

This is the birth of the New Testament church.

And the same day, those who was right outside the kingdom of God, they were able to actually come in.

Jesus told one young ruler, and when he asked him a question, he answered him.

He said, Thou art not far from the kingdom.

And he wasn't.

I believe he came in with his 3,000.

Many people weren't far from it.

Jesus told one young ruler, asked him, What's the greatest command?

He answered him.

And Jesus responded and said, Thou aren't far.

And some people can't see nothing.

Other people, even without the Holy Ghost, without the New Testament ministry, they hunger for God, they thirst for righteousness.

And they was able to find their way in with the rest of the wheat.

It was the same message, it had to follow an order that God had preordained, and it's for a reason.

Because as the church panned out, it had to have a core strong enough, to go to be strong enough to bring in all kinds of unclean animals and change them and not be affected.
