we're going to Jeremiah

today and uh the subject is either

remember the Covenant or he hadn't

changed his mind so you pick the one you

like and let's keep moving Jeremiah 29

and I'm going to read Verses 4 through

13 kind of

swiftly in the NIV come on this is what

the Lord Almighty the god of Israel says

to all those I carried into Exile from

Jerusalem to Babylon this is what God

had to say come on build houses and

settle down y plant Gardens and eat what

they produce right marry and have sons

and daughters okay find wives for your

sons and give your daughters in marriage

so that they too may have sons and

daughters uh-huh increase in numbers

there do not decrease come on also seek

the peace and prosperity of the city to

which I have carried you into Exile wow

pray to the Lord for it y because if it

PR ERS you too will prosper come on yes

this is what the Lord Almighty the god

of Israel says do not let the prophets

and divers among you deceive you do not

let the dreams you you encourage them to

have wait wait wait wait don't listen to

the dreams that you done encourage them

to have this weird kind of push and pull

thing where you

done PR preachers prophets learn what

gets people excited so that's what they

give them

okay go on to the next verse they are

prophesying lies to you in my name I

have not sent them declares the Lord I

didn't say God say I ain't say none of

that go ahead this is what the Lord says

this what I'm telling you when 70 years

are completed for Babylon I will come to

you and fulfill my good promise to bring

you back to this place come on for I

know the plans I have for you declares

the Lord plans to prosper you and not to

harm you plans to give you hope and a

future

amen we better learn to remember the

Covenant Now understand having a

covenant does not mean our lives will be

troubless okay see a lot of times we

confuse when we need faith

fath I don't necessarily need

necessarily need faith I'm always going

to walk in faith cuz that was my

commitment but we don't need faith for

the stuff right here in front of

us you know you need you and I need

faith when there are delays in what

we've been believing

for if everything I prayed for popped up

in my lap that day then I don't need to

really develop faith

I don't need I don't need anything you

know I if it just going to pop in my lap

every time I mention I ain't mad don't

be bound God I'm good

ground but I need faith and I need to

remember that I'm in a covenant when

interruptions take

place long

interruptions irritations and

hindrances and

unfortunately we sometimes view walking

by Faith or the life of faith of

following Jesus and living for God we

view that almost as a type of

magic but it's

not life has trouble built into it say

that that's right you need to go ahead

and nail that down in your spirit and

get an understanding of it that life has

trouble built into it and though though

there can be some uh you know there are

blessing

abounding

sometimes life will flip on

you okay and when it

does you got to remember your

Covenant

okay see because God

uses life to develop

us okay to to to form us to Fashion us

to make make us better to move us toward

christlikeness if if if if everything

you asked for you got that

moment then you wouldn't know how to

wait you'd be like them children in the

restaurant who you can tell run the

house y'all don't act like you don't

know what I'm talking about that mother

say no that child go to kicking and

turning that thing out and you say to

your Z now you know if they doing all

that out

here they run them at home

home okay because they don't know how to

wait they don't

understand we were having an evening

last night and Taurus you know again was

cheating around the card table pray for

him I'm asking God to do a

work and TJ and tayia were over and a

little my little grandpup Zena was there

and she's just the most beautiful dog

you ever wanted to see outside just

playing getting ready to tear up them

screens on the

house and she would just run to the door

periodically and look like what's wrong

with

y'all let me in the house well I'm

allergic to dogs even though I want one

so bad but I I can't so TJ says she out

there confused because she's always in

the house with

us so she's out there having a fit cuz

she doesn't know what's

wrong running like a little circles and

every now and then she'll just take off

running wide open then she'll run back

and look like did y'all miss me you

going to let me

in that's how we

do you ain't you ain't going how you not

letting me in the promise right now I'm

F to run off for a minute cuz

somebody I'm come back you

I but a covenant given to us by God is

not to make

us

entitled it's going to be hard to work

through this Jesus help me now help

me unfortunately and I guess for let me

let me y'all catch that phone um tell

them they supposed to be

here God gives us a covenant he does

want us to have

confidence but you and I have to be

careful that we are not out of balance

in our approach to

scripture as a pastor I have to tell you

things that may not make you

happy I have to explain Concepts because

I don't want you and I to think that the

Bible I know the Bible is kind of like

about us but it ain't About Us

I have to approach the scriptures in a

personal way and devotionally to say

it's talking to me but let me share

something when promises are made and

Covenant cut it was cut for the people

of

God oh I know I know I know it's

cut for the people of God of which you

are a

part so

it is entirely possible that God is

keeping the Covenant cuz he ain't going

to never let a word fail but you may not

see everything you thought in your

lifetime I know you're ready to leave

ain't

you

okay oh

Lord you'd be see again we think

Covenant means ain't going to have no

trouble you'd be surprised to know that

that when God cut Covenant with Abraham

he told him right off the bat now for

400 years y'all going down into

slavery well that don't sound like no D

Covenant to

me anybody real in the house that don't

sound fun what is

that but I have to be

careful that I don't start discounting

God because I don't see everything I

thought was was promised in my lifetime

at the time I

wanted I remember I was telling

Arlene I learned I'll tell you two

little quick stories I was telling

Arlene I remember being in toys arrest

with TJ years ago how many years ago

many years ago years ago and I used to

carry a big roll now all my money that

folk be spending the money the thing

done shrunk down like that right there

so and I had a lot of money in my pocket

this one particular time and this was

before I had my concealed

Carrie and what I'm just telling the

story and so I was in there and TJ asked

for

something and I knew that I had just you

know this is B see how flat the pocket

is now but back then it was it was

bigger and uh I saw this man and this

lady looking at me funny and you know

when people are looking at your jewelry

this size of you up now they would have

been wrong to roll up on me even before

concealed Cary

days

amen but I could tell they weren't

looking at me like I know you they were

looking at me like that's a nice

bracelet and TJ was asking for something

and I I had to act like I wasn't

listening to him and ignore him because

it was not the best time to pull my

money

out I needed him to stay in the dark for

a minute cuz I was keeping them in the

dark and if he did not know better he

would have thought Mom you said if I

asked you for something you would give

it to me but now you're not answering me

but you don't understand baby there's

more going on than you can see

one of the other ways that we do is kind

of like we'll judge God on

stuff you know we sweet though God knows

we we doing the best we can ain't we we

we sweet with a level of something so

it's kind of like if we had now our boys

are healthy we praise the Lord for but

imagine if one of them had poor vision

and one of them did not hear well but

other than that they were

healthy and

I bought one a

car the one that you know doesn't hear

that well but they see

fine but then the one that can't hardly

see want to know you ain't no respect of

persons where's my

car I can't get you a car you can't

see I'mma get them the car and you the

driver I can't take the one that can't

hardly here to the

concert you know I'm say but I I I I I

probably won't take the one that's blind

to the Grand

Canyon I may not be able to do the exact

same because I know their frailties and

what would make the bigger impact I

don't have nobody to talk

to if I don't understand that

God is doing more than just what he does

with

me it is personal some somebody shout it

is personal it is personal but it's also

about the

body that's good let me show you another

example of what I

mean I was standing in the kitchen at

the old house and um Darlene was there

and I couldn't remember if Arlene was

there I couldn't remember even if you

weren't you know y'all twins it doesn't

you know kind of was there anyway and we

were having a

discussion and this is Darlene

said Mama Prayed for

us and before she died she asked revend

Randolph to always check on

us and she began to talk about she

through her prayers made sure that we

had somebody looking out for us when she

couldn't be

there and

now you're here

and I

realized God was answering her mother's

prayer her mother already in heaven but

the prayer is still producing y'all

don't hear what I'm saying you missing

it you missing it's the prayer God

answered Mama didn't see

it but it didn't mean God didn't answer

yes because the world is bigger than

your 80 years

and if we don't tell the truth about

this I kind of got in argument with one

of my preacher friends I just need to

stay off the phone cuz seem like anytime

I really share my thoughts somebody gets

mad at me because what I said was when

we began to talk about it they were like

yeah but people just need to believe and

we going to see it we going to see it

and I said well o okay just don't say

nothing Ro I I could hear you in my head

just let it go don't say nothing just

let them say what they thinking but what

did I

do I said but what you sound like you're

doing is stringing the people on from

week to

week I want you to come

back wait minute something's clicking

what is that okay I'm sorry I want you

to come back y'all pray for me I told

you need a counselor why you staring at

me Linda put me on the calendar baby put

me down

it's like I want you to come

back but I don't want you to come back

like it's a drug just to give you enough

to get through next

week I need to let you know God will

come through for you I need to let you

know God will heal God is able to heal

and he's already healed but I also have

to tell you that there will be times

where people will leave here that you

didn't want to go and it does not mean

that God is not true to his word because

you're looking at a snapshot but

eternity is a video and When the Smoke

settles and the dust excuse me when the

dust settles and the Smoke Clears he

will have fulfilled every promise he

ever spoke

see that's the only way we got this you

know inauguration and

everything I don't know what the next

four years going to be like I don't know

I mean it may it may be I I don't know

but this is what I do know I I'm not

real happy about the prospect of us

using military force to take other

territory I'm now I'm not happy about

that now you know I I I you know Canada

y'all heard what Canada said didn't

you I can't can't say it in church but

it was

funny but I put suffice it to say

something would have to freeze over

before they would let it happen that's

what the man

said but how many there were excuse me

don't ask that many people prayed for

things to go a different

way but I have a

covenant that says whatever God say it

he's going to do it I don't know what

may happen in the interim period but

when again D settle Smoke Clears his

word will be fulfilled now I don't know

if I have to go now prayerfully we will

have a wonderful four years I don't know

but if I have to go through Hellen high

water over the next couple years I can

make it because God is still going to be

God

see knowing I have a covenant and

understanding that God is not a man that

he should lie but also understanding

that there is more there's more

complexity to this than just what I want

in

him there other nations their other

issues their their developmental issues

at play I can trust him when I can't

trace

him okay this is how I can live my life

and still keep looking for

better this is how watch this single

this is how you can find a way to be at

peace and happy and still be grinning

and blinking and looking for somebody

y'all ain't having church with me you

didn't want to clap on that you didn't

thank you one two rest of y'all phony

joking this is how I can fight and know

I'm in a fight and declare myself a

winner in

advance now in our text today cuz that's

what the text is about I've shared this

little statement I have listened to

preaching for 40 years I have never

heard anybody give the context of

Jeremiah 29

never because we become so me centered

in the way we approach scripture that it

would irritate people to preach it so

and and look I've been guilty I'm not

trying to throw everybody under the bus

cuz I would just holl honey you know

what Jeremiah 29:11 say

Jeremiah 29:11

I know the thoughts

hallelujah how the hell you

Joe but I think we need to look at the

context in chapter

28 there were false prophets that had

Arisen that were telling folk in two

years God getting ready to bring this

thing around next month come on let me

just work with it next month that car is

going to show up h

they were prophesying that everything

was going to get better and that right

early and I understand the Temptation

because you want people to feel like

they can make it I understand the

Temptation because you want to keep

people

encouraged but

Jeremiah God came to him and said go

tell haniah that was his name haniah

ain't nobody told you that

read your Bible and told say and and

Jeremiah said and this is a word from

God you going to die this

year Jesus since you like

times no come on let's talk about it and

then Jeremiah gets the word from God and

I want us to look at what it was man

this is

oh oh thank you Lord thank you Holy

Spirit the reason this thing issue with

false prophets and just trying to tell

you oh it's getting great honey just

right around the I can oh I can see it

oo oo and again I'm not despising

prophesying because it is important and

there are real prophets they're few and

far in between though you don't know

five let me just throw that out it's few

and far in

between but hear me when I say they are

there but this is what Holy Spirit told

me we have to be careful because what

they are doing unfortunately is feeding

people

this false excitement and anticipation

which can cause

paralyzation it's the same thing need to

tell him it's the same thing that

happened when he was writing the uh Paul

wrote the church at thessalonica he said

the the the Lord is going to come but

you can't sit in a church building and

wait like it's going to be next week

everybody trying to tell Hy I honey the

sign the weather you honey you can't

tell this this weather is letting you

know Jesus right there on Farm

Boulevard it's almost 60 today honey

it's going to be 17

Tuesday did you hear that I thought I

heard a

trumpet this ain't coming out like I

want I'm going have to preach I'm going

have to preach live at 12 again okay but

here's the thing he is coming but we

don't know when and if I'm not careful

if I if I if I come at you and keep

infusing it a certain kind of way then

you'll be like well if he's coming I

don't need to get married if he's coming

I don't need to get a new job if he's

coming I don't have to worry about

paying this bill that's what happened at

Y2K they had convinced everybody that

all their debt was going to be gone so

they went out buying all this stuff and

they still paying for

it you

know I want to I want us to look for the

coming of the

Lord but you got to look why while

you're

living we'll see it in the text Jeremiah

comes back and said God gave us a

covenant and he tells them some things

he says can can I share what the text

taught me can I give you a few things

that it taught me you write them down

and then I do have some points later but

just make a note of this the text the

way this text starts out Jeremiah said

this is the real word from the Lord and

you going to have to speak in the next

70 years over here in Babylon as an

exile you got to you got to get through

these four years 70 years I'm

sorry for all my for all my trump

supporters please forgive me our former

you know but I just let me say it let me

get past it I'm generally very very

sweet first thing this thing teaches me

God's plan is bigger than just

me because what he said to them is he

said I'm going to leave you here because

I'm dealing with

Babylon the same way I had to keep TJ in

the dark that I was going to give him

that money because somebody else needed

to be kept in the dark there are

something God when you going to get me

out this job I've been praying God

because I know you got more for me than

this so God I just believe you and God

ain't let you go you've been there

another four years mad as you can be you

sitting in the car cut the car off can't

even make yourself get out to go in they

better not say nothing talking about I'm

late either I mean your whole face is

twisted and torn

up but see what you don't know God may

let you be sit there for the next 10

years but he's making a record Children

of the things that they are doing and he

is going to reward you for your pain and

he is going to deal with them for their

foolishness often in scripture you hear

him say the iniquity of them was not

full

okay see y'all sweet I love God I love

God y'all so oh Lord you saved you'll

understand this

here now this is not any of us what' I

just say it's not any of us but you let

somebody be getting ready to get

divorced how they keep them text

messages and uh record them phone calls

where you curing at each

other no you ain't left yet you ain't no

you ain't gone nowhere yet uhhuh said

cuz I don't have just I need to wait

just a little longer not not none of us

this something I saw on

TV in the same way that you didn't rush

out because you needed a certain amount

of Proof come

on God said there are times when I will

leave my people in a situation that is

not ideal because I want to make sure

that when I come through and judge those

folk that I have everything I need to

judge y'all ain't having church with

me so the first thing I learned Regina

God's plan is bigger than just me second

thing is he uses this

situation to affect others because

timing is

involved timing is in

involved y'all seen those families where

they have a big big change in the ages

of the kids one be like 30 the other be

like

four congratulations to both that man

and that

woman right

who oh that's right Jo go stand you

ought to be proud do go go be yeah yes

yes

yes so here's the

thing I could buy for both of them

timing right he could buy a car for his

sweet

baby or for one of them grown

boys now if you did it at the same time

cuz how come everybody else I'm tired of

seeing other people get married I'm

tired I'm tired of see I B if I hear one

if I get one more invitation I'mma cut

somebody out I'm telling you that right

now cuz I'm tired of everybody else

but y'all didn't know the Saints talk

like

this but if you gave one of the boys a

car and I call it Rose cuz you know I

know she had that name after me and L

Rose one by the time she can drive it

it'll be rusted out no

good so someone else judging your Equity

would be

improper because you and you alone are

probably aware of who is

ready timing is

involved how many want to just take a

minute and pray say Lord well just show

me whatever I need to do to get ready

cuz I'm sick of waiting okay they I just

wanted to give you that moment of prayer

right third thing I learned just from

study no matter what interruptions

come God has not changed his

mind now let's look at this text a

little more closely

Jeremiah 29 y'all

there all right let's look he says to

them so Jeremiah says the this thing

about it's going to work out in two

years is not

God after 70 years y'all there verse

four say this is what the Lord really

Almighty said to everybody I carried in

the Exile from Jerusalem to Babylon he

says you need to go ahead and build

houses and settle down

I know they trying to tell you you don't

need to do nothing keep the keep the

stuff in boxes cuz you're getting ready

to be gone he said but I'm telling you

unpack build your house and settle down

plant Gardens and eat what they produce

marry have kids on and on and on and on

and on look down now at verse eight yes

this is what the Lord God Almighty says

the god of Israel do not let the

prophets and divers deceive

you don't listen to these dreams that

y'all and push them have they're

lying verse 10 when 70 years are

completed now there are some promises

God gives you and before you can blink

that thing done manifested in your life

and then you owe him a pra don't you owe

him a

praise there's some stuff you may have

to wait for but he ain't lied about

it he says when 70 years

Lord is this supposed to be

encouraging cuz the reality is in 70

years some of us not going to be

here so that would mean I

died and didn't get

it maybe that's why the scripture says

in Hebrews some died having not received

the promise

yes but but see if my only approach to

scripture is me me me now now now see

many of us we don't mean to but we

relate to God not as God but as

Genie I done rub this lamp what's

up L Aladdin whoever come get this

fixed anybody ever done that you rubbed

it a little bit oh y'all just oh my God

let me

walk I had to walk boy cuz some people

go to line I just need to look at them

you understand what I'm

saying anybody ever prayed and praised

and put money on the Altar and

everything then looked up and God said

what are you doing up

there no shade God but straight up come

through what's what's up you can't tell

time in heaven I know it's eternity I

can send you a watch what are we

doing my God because we feel like we've

done what we supposed to

we got to be

careful he's God he ain't no toy he's

God he ain't a genie this ain't magic

it's faith I'm submitted to him I can

trust

him okay God

says going to be about 70 years

doc he said but I will come to you

and I'll fulfill my good promise to

bring you back to this place and this is

what he says he said cuz I ain't changed

my

mind the reason he cut Covenant with us

Hebrews 6:16 the reason he cut Covenant

Hebrews 6:16

is to settle our doubts when we have

delays oh God I don't have a church this

morning just at least let me know if

you're getting anything are you kind of

catching on to what I'm saying the the

reason he cut Covenant

somebody I knew was looking at a house

and they said oh we really like it I

said well stop taking pictures and put a

contract on

it cuz if it's what you really want you

need a contract oh I wish I had a church

they knew our them this year Covenant

conscious see that's if you don't want

if you don't want if you don't Lord

mother Lucifer them little sexy legs and

boots and things re Randy look you can't

just tell her she pretty right

you had to put a ring up there

doc she don't mind she love you she was

so sweet but now she ain't waiting her

whole life and you ain't made the

commitment now sign the contract put the

ring she'll stand by you how long

you'all been

married 32 years look at him grinning

sitting all up

bouncing I tell you what some of the

changes that people people have to go

through M Cathy how long you been

married they got to ask each other that

show you some time children there's some

time in there how

many 55

years now I'm pretty

sure in 55 years they both could have

taken other

paths so while we're grinning and

blinking and smiling let's go ahead and

seal this contract so we don't have to

think about it anymore

because

if if it hadn't been solidified one of

them real real bad

days but we solidified it with an oath

with a binding contract with a

covenant and so he says to them it may

be 70 years but I ain't changed my mind

he said I gave you the Covenant because

I understood that where during delays

doubt Creeps

in and he said and I understand that

when you're in that waiting period and

especially if somebody dies and doesn't

seem like they got a chance to get it

you'll be tempted to think that I'm not

going to keep my word but God said I'm

going to keep it whether you see it or

the Next Generation but my word won't

ever return to me void

can I tell yours she don't even know

what I'm going to say she's Faith full

of Faith she told me her mama made sure

they ate well off food

stamps she make more money than her mom

could have

imagined so all the

praying and doing whatever Mama had to

do to put food on the

table all that pray some that's why you

don't let anybody walk up to you and say

well it look like to me how come you

don't have so and so yet or how come you

don't have so and so you need to let

them know you ain't got to worry about

my business what you need to do is tend

to your own business because God takes

into account who I am what time it is

what my future holds and if I don't see

it in my lifetime look for it in my

family

God ain't going to let one thing he

promised go

down not

one my grandfather set me in a room on

March 1st I think it was maybe

80

88 and I had told him that God had

called me to start a church and he told

me all all this stuff he told me he knew

the Lord had called me to start a church

and we were Baptist missionary at that

so we didn't believe in all that and as

he began to talk yeah because you're

going to have to do Series this is this

was way back then and he said and and

you not be able to stay in church till

3: and 4:00 so your generation not going

to do

that now here's a man that never saw a

$100,000 budget for the whole year at

the

church and we raised a million in a

day but I got to ask whose Faith do you

think that is that didn't come from my

prayers that just got started he was

praying that years y'all ain't having

church with me and so in heaven God said

I told I can hear God now Max I told you

I was going to do it okay y'all don't

want to hear me David and

Solomon David build me a

temple David couldn't build a temple he

shed too much blood he said that's okay

it's still going to come through you

though how's it going to come through me

I'm going Bring It On Through

Solomon I'll fulfill what I told you in

Solomon y'all not hearing me see when I

think about the fact that there were

slaves 1600 and I mean for on but I just

let me deal with around here 1700s 1800s

19 they lived and died in that that

Darkness weeping may endure for a night

but

joy that morning didn't seem to

come for generations and generations and

generations but that's why he gave us a

covenant because you got to say I don't

know I may be on my way out and it may

not look like it's going to work out but

I still believe God going to do what he

said he put a ring on

it he gave me the sign of Covenant and I

don't know when is going to happen I

don't know who it's going to happen

through but I know that God cannot lie

and it will come to

pass so look what it says let me just

let me just I don't know if I'm getting

this out well look what it tells him to

do he told him in verse starting in

verse four he said first thing I want

you to do when it looks like it ain't

going to

happen first thing you do is settle into

the best strategy to live fruitfully

verse four and five read it this is what

the Lord Almighty the god of Israel says

to all those that are carried in Exile

from Jerusalem to Bon build houses

settle down figure out how to build

houses and settle down plant Gardens and

eat what they produce are y'all hearing

me come on marry and have sons and

daughters go on and live find wives for

your sons and give your daughters in

marriage all right stop right there he

says go ahead and figure out a strategy

so that you can live and live a happy

and a holy life and keep looking to the

sky you got to find the strategy now

honey one of these days honey we're

going to be caught up to meet him and we

on our way I tell God is com and he is

don't sleep on the message cuz he will

come and grab the church away I don't

know when it'll be but the instructions

to me is figure out a strategy so you

could live successfully till I come get

you I'll get in the Rapture right or

I'll get you with with rest when you die

but I'm coming to get you you figure out

a strategy some of y'all are single stop

sitting at home all the time get out and

do something let him find you or let her

find you while you're living you don't

wa sit around and wait for No 10 15

years now you done got old and mean and

cranky and all that stuff the Devil is a

liive

preacher yeah no you don't do no

foolishness like that

I'm be like what that girl went up in uh

I still got a group back I'm be in the

Bahamas or somewhere you hear me in

Jamaica I'm saying if I you know

just second thing I need you to see

really careful I want you to spend some

time on this this week I'm still looking

for the promise but until it shows up he

told so them settle into a strategy

where you can find a quality of life

second thing this thing tore me up

determin to not to decrease during the

weight oh read your Bible read your

Bible yeah I want to hurry up and have

this I want to hurry up and have that

but if it doesn't come I got to figure

out a way that I don't lose in this

process read it DOC increase in numbers

do not decrease don't do y' did y'all

read that additional SC do you see that

God says you are to increase I don't

care who in the White House you got to

set your mind set your faith to increase

and whatever you do do not decrease push

your neighbor and say don't decrease

don't

decrease I don't care what's going on

I'm not going to decrease God going to

give me a strategy I'm not going to

decrease I'm going to increase cuz God

told me to do it while I wait on my

miracle

I'mma put the work in and not

decrease come on let's read it then he

says number three seek Peace during the

interim number three seek peace what

during the interim you got to seek peace

even in these four years you seek peace

somebody walk around I a going to call

him my president he we might as

well president Trump you might as well

but see SE

peace because watch this now if you seek

peace and prosperity of the land then

you going to prosper as it prospers read

the Bible read it DOC it's right there

also seek the peace and prosperity in

the city to which I have carried you

into Exile wherever you find yourself I

know you're in Exile right now pray to

the Lord for it hold on I know you're

not in your ideal spot I know this

you're in the apartment this ain't the

house you envisioned he said but go

ahead and seek peace and be a good

neighbor in the

apartment oh God I wish I had me

somebody fix the thing up put a put a

bow on the door do something but don't
