  1. Good afternoon family. I hope you all

  2. are doing well. Listen, God has been

  3. good to us. He's been gracious to us.

  4. And when we think of all that he has

  5. done for us and not just what it is,

  6. what he's done, but who he is more

  7. importantly, then I believe praise rises

  8. up out of us. Listen, my name is Pastor

  9. Trev and it is my absolute joy to be

  10. able to be with you today in the place

  11. of our pastor, our senior pastor and

  12. founder, Bishop Rosie S. O'Neal. Uh I am

  13. just thankful for her. You know, listen,

  14. uh you know, we are fresh off the heels.

  15. Been about a week or two uh since we

  16. have come out of our 40 days of fasting

  17. and praying and uh Bishop Ed was

  18. teaching uh every day, sometimes twice a

  19. day. And uh when you go through

  20. something like that, you need a minute

  21. to kind of pull away and to refresh. And

  22. we're just thankful that she is doing

  23. that today. Uh however, she has left the

  24. lesson uh for us to get into today. So I

  25. want to uh definitely uh get into that.

  26. And before I go any further,

  27. announcement on the front end. Uh if you

  28. are seeing this before May 1st, we want

  29. you to join us May the 1st at 12:00 noon

  30. for the National Day of Prayer. We will

  31. be hosting and leading a time of prayer

  32. in our community on the uh steps of the

  33. Pit County Courthouse that's located at

  34. 100 West Third Street here in

  35. Greenville, North Carolina. So, if you

  36. can pull up on us, take your lunch break

  37. uh and come and be a part of a time of

  38. prayer as we gather together as a

  39. community uh to seek the face of God.

  40. Amen. So, I'm excited about today's

  41. lesson. As you know, we are in a series

  42. uh on uh financial being financially

  43. covenant conscious. Uh on this past

  44. Sunday, Bishop uh preached her face off

  45. and taught her face off when she uh

  46. talked about that we are made for it.

  47. And she gave us three primary words on

  48. this past Sunday. She gave us attitude,

  49. alignment, and

  50. awareness. Attitude that you and I must

  51. make an adjustment. And I mean a quick

  52. shift in our attitude as it pertains to

  53. uh what God wants to do in our lives

  54. financially. We were made for more. He

  55. came that we might have an abundant

  56. life. Uh to put on an old sermon from

  57. years ago, there's a shouldness to our

  58. blessing. And you and I, regardless of

  59. where we are, what we've been through,

  60. what we've seen, what has happened to

  61. us, what people may have done to us, we

  62. must quickly embrace the fact that the

  63. abundant life is for us. And so Bishop

  64. called us to make a make a shift in our

  65. attitude on Sunday. Then she moved to

  66. alignment and she said that you and I

  67. must be in alignment with God. There's

  68. no way we can ask for, believe for,

  69. declare the blessings of God if we're

  70. walking out of alignment with his word.

  71. And so we want to be in alignment

  72. financially with God in returning the

  73. tithe and giving some kind of offering

  74. and being a blessing to your pastor. And

  75. those of you who are not members of

  76. Corona, you want to be a blessing to

  77. your pastor and that is scriptural. That

  78. is found in Galatians chapter 6. That is

    Galatians 6 chapter mention

  79. scriptural. And we want to be in

  80. alignment with God. So she talked about

  81. attitude. She talked about alignment.

  82. And then she talked about awareness and

  83. that you and I must be aware that the

  84. enemy has a plan for our money. And

  85. because the enemy has a plan for our

  86. money, we must have a plan. You got it?

  87. Listen. You can wander into debt, but

  88. you cannot wander out. You will have to

  89. have a plan. You got it. And so, we must

  90. be aware of the tactics. And you got to

  91. go back to Sunday and here are some of

  92. the practical things that bishop gave us

  93. uh in being aware. So, we must be aware

  94. of the tactics of this world, but we

  95. also must be aware of our own plan that

  96. is supposed to dictate and guide how we

  97. handle our finances. So, there's uh

  98. there's attitude, there's alignment,

  99. there's awareness. And today we're

  100. talking about action. You got it. But

  101. before I get deep into action, Bishop

  102. wanted to make sure that uh this concept

  103. that we are made for it is nailed down.

  104. That we were made to be able to delay

  105. gratification. You and I have the

  106. ability to do that. You know, we've been

  107. created in the image of God according to

  108. Genesis 1 27. We've been made in the

  109. image of God. You know, and I want you

  110. to make a note of this. I didn't give

  111. this uh to John, but uh I want you to

  112. make a note of Exodus

    Exodus 3:14

  113. 3:14. When Moses has received

  114. instructions from God to go and tell

  115. Pharaoh, let my people go. Moses comes

  116. to God and say, "Okay, God, I got it

  117. with Pharaoh. But now, when I go to the

  118. children of Israel and they're going to

  119. ask me who it is that is sending me,

  120. what do I say?"

  121. When they asked me for ID, what do I

  122. say? What do I give them? And God

  123. replied to Moses in Exodus 3:14, he

    Exodus 3:14

  124. said,"I am that I am." He said, "Go and

  125. tell them that I am." In other words, I

  126. am whatever it is I need to

  127. be. And you and I must understand that

  128. you, we have been created in the image

  129. of God. And whatever the situation calls

  130. for, we have the ability to be what's

  131. needed. Or I hear a old sermon in my

  132. head. Bishop preached changing shape to

  133. meet the need that you and I have the

  134. ability to be whatever the situation

  135. calls for. We have the ability to

  136. fulfill uh every assignment to overcome

  137. any obstacle and to meet any challenge.

  138. We have that why not in and of ourselves

  139. but we've been created in the image of

  140. God. And if that is true about that, so

  141. it is true when it comes to our

  142. finances. We have the ability, catch

  143. this, to delay

  144. gratification. We have the ability to

  145. say, "No, Bishop," she touched on it on

  146. Sunday. Colossians chapter chapter 2,

  147. verse 6, I believe I called for that

  148. one. Colossians chapter 2, verse 6, it

    Colossians 2:6

  149. says, "For out Colossians chapter 2."

    Colossians 2 chapter mention

  150. Yeah, there it is. It says, "As you

  151. therefore have received Christ Jesus the

  152. Lord, so walk in

  153. him." As you have received Christ, then

  154. that is how we are to walk in him. That

  155. is how to we are to walk out our lives.

  156. And so how do we receive Christ? We

  157. heard the gospel. We believed the

  158. gospel. Then we started living by faith

  159. and making adjustments in the things

  160. that we could see because of something

  161. we couldn't

  162. see. You got we we made we heard the

  163. gospel. We believed the gospel. Then we

  164. started walking by faith according to

  165. what we heard. And then we started

  166. making by the power of God making

  167. changes in our

  168. lives in the things that we could see

  169. based off of what we could not

  170. see. In other words, you and I have the

  171. ability to make the necessary

  172. adjustments in our lives. We can change

  173. what we see as it relates to our

  174. finances. We have that same ability. We

  175. have the ability to delay gratification.

  176. This is why I believe even God gives us

  177. uh the practice to sharpen this

  178. ability. That's what I believe fasting

  179. and prayer does. Fasting is the

  180. intentional staying away or abstaining

  181. from food for a period of time for a

  182. spiritual reason. And when we do that,

  183. we sharpen, we strengthen that muscle to

  184. be able to say no.

  185. If you can walk past a pound cake or you

  186. can walk past that snicker bar and say

  187. no to that, then surely you can say no

  188. to a sale. You got it? Surely you can

  189. say no to the impulse, the the I got to

  190. have it

  191. impulse. You feel me? Now, we ain't

  192. calling for a fast. I believe you should

  193. you should uh periodically have one on

  194. your own. But I believe this is what God

  195. gives us to help strengthen that ability

  196. that we have to delay

  197. gratification. You got it? Go to 2

    2 Corinthians 4:17

  198. Corinthians chapter 4 verse

  199. 17 and 18. 2 Corinthians chapter 4 verse

    2 Corinthians 4:17

  200. 17 18. You and I have the ability to say

  201. no. I want you to put the word no in the

  202. chat. Come on. Let's start now. You got

  203. it. Let's start now. Put the word no in

  204. the chat. I believe that's a word that

  205. we have to reintroduce into our lives if

  206. we're going to get a handle on our

  207. finances. Just Just start now. Just

  208. start now. Just Yeah. Just put it in the

  209. chat. Say no. No. That's all you got to

  210. do. Say no. You know, you know, it's two

  211. words. There you go. There you go. It's

  212. two words. Say no. But I believe we're

  213. not saying no for

  214. forever, but we will say no for a period

  215. of time. You got it? Catch this. I'm

  216. coming back to the scripture. Just give

  217. me one second. If if catch this,

  218. somebody put this in the chat or you

  219. write it down for yourself. If we can

  220. for a period of time live like no one

  221. else, then later we'll get to live like

  222. no one else.

  223. I'll say it

  224. again. If we can right now learn to live

  225. like no one

  226. else, then later down the road we'll get

  227. to live like no one else. If you and I

  228. can find a way to live like no one else.

  229. What does that mean now? You don't

  230. probably most of your friends have cable

  231. or YouTube or some sort of streaming

  232. service to watch TV. But if you can find

  233. a way now to live like no one else doing

  234. without

  235. it. If you can find a way now to live

  236. like no one else and and and sacrifice

  237. the vacation for right now. If you can

  238. if you can now right now learn to live

  239. like no one else. Meaning you don't have

  240. the latest and the greatest and the

  241. hottest and the newest now. Then later

  242. in life you'll get to live like no one

  243. else. You won't be picking up a third or

  244. second or third job. In fact, you'll be

  245. well off enough to be able to retire.

  246. You'll be going on vacation. Not when

  247. there's a sale, but when you want

  248. to. Yeah. You'll be going on vacation

  249. when you want to. See, because right

  250. now, oh

  251. Lord, I'm coming to second Corinthians.

  252. I declare 2 Corinthians chapter 4. I'm

    2 Corinthians 4 chapter mention

  253. coming to it. But right

  254. now, the lack of finances in our lives

  255. and our inability to control

  256. it, it dictate, it dictates to us when

  257. we can go on vacation and how long we

  258. can stay.

  259. But if we can learn now to to to to

  260. delay gratification in the moment, then

  261. we'll come to the point where money is

  262. not telling us where to go and how long

  263. we can stay. We'll be able to dictate

  264. that whether you want to go to Dubai and

  265. stay for seven days or for two weeks.

  266. That'll be not because you got to get

  267. back to your second job. It'll be

  268. because you had the finances to do it.

  269. You got it? So if we can learn now to

  270. live like no one else, then I believe

  271. later we'll get to live like no one

  272. else. 2 Corinthians chapter 4:1 17. 2

    2 Corinthians 4:17

  273. Corinthians chapter 4 verse 17. It says,

  274. "For our light afflictions, which is but

  275. for a moment is working for us a far

  276. more exceeding and eternal weight of

  277. glory." Verse 18, while we do not look

  278. at the things which are seen, but at the

  279. things which are not seen. For the

  280. things which are seen are temporary, but

  281. the things which are not seen are

  282. eternal. What is that saying? That we

  283. are built for this. We are we are made

  284. for this. We are made to look at

  285. hardship and redefine hardship. We're

  286. able to look at difficulty and redefine

  287. difficulty. We're able to delay

  288. gratific. We're built for this. This is

  289. how God wired

  290. us. You got it? You and I have the

  291. ability, catch this, to

  292. decide. Uhhuh. To embrace. Here come

  293. three words from the fast. Watch this,

  294. Elonza. It ain't nothing new. We have

  295. the ability to decide to embrace

  296. disruption,

  297. discomfort. Y'all know what the third

  298. one is? Discon disconnection. We have

  299. that

  300. ability. We have that ability to decide

  301. that that I'm going to embrace

  302. disruption. Disruption of what? Of my

  303. routine.

  304. I'm used to going to Starbucks and

  305. paying $7 for my my medicine ball. So,

  306. because I want to delay gratification

  307. because I have a goal, because I have a

  308. plan, I'm not going to pay $7 to $8

  309. right now for for a cup of tea. I'm

  310. going to go get me a box of tea for $5.

  311. Go get me some Splendor for eight.

  312. Splender is $9 a box. What in the world?

  313. Get you some Splender for $9. What's

  314. that? That's about 14 right there. And

  315. then get you a little honey. If you

  316. don't get organic honey, maybe that's $8

  317. $10. Okay. So, what we looking at now?

  318. $24 for as many uh tea bags you have.

  319. It'll probably be 10 or 12 tea bags. So,

  320. for $24, you have you have 10 or 12 cups

  321. of tea rather than one cup for

  322. $8. But I can endure this light

  323. affliction because it is working for me

  324. a far more exceeding weight of glory. I

  325. have a greater future if I can endure

  326. this now. I can endure the disruption. I

  327. can endure the I can endure the

  328. discomfort of telling myself no. Cuz

  329. that's not comfortable. You don't mind

  330. telling other people no. But boy, it's

  331. something else to tell yourself no.

  332. That's not comfortable. You got it. But

  333. we can decide to embrace the disruption,

  334. the discomfort, and the

  335. disconnection. The disconnection from

  336. from some of my favorite things to

  337. do. You got it? So that means coming up

  338. uh in the in the fall, you know, I was

  339. looking at uh Bishop has has us in this

  340. series and I was looking at uh our own

  341. bills. My wife and I have been looking

  342. at our own budget, our spending plan and

  343. uh Lonzo, sure enough, I forgot that I

  344. had uh what you call it when you uh the

  345. football what is that the package for

  346. watching the football games. Now you

  347. can't but watch but mostly one game at a

  348. time honestly and pay attention to it. I

  349. had this package where I had like six or

  350. seven games. And even with the package,

  351. I I didn't watch but one game at a time.

  352. And catch this, I told myself when I

  353. first got it, I was going to cut it off

  354. when football season was

  355. over. It's April. Basketball season has

  356. come and gone. March Madness has come

  357. and gone. The NFL draft has come and

  358. gone, and I'm still paying for

  359. it. But I need to disconnect from some

  360. of my favorite things to do. So now when

  361. it comes to in the fall, you know,

  362. whatever is on CBS, whatever's on Sunday

  363. Night Football, that's what I'm going to

  364. have to watch. You got it? Why? I can

  365. embrace this light affliction cuz I have

  366. a far more exceeding weight of glory. I

  367. have a greater goal in mind. You got it?

  368. Oh, so so we we are made for this. Write

  369. down Hebrewsap 11 24-27. I can't go to

  370. it. I'm not going to go to it, John. But

  371. Hebrews 11

  372. 24-27. And it talks about Moses making a

  373. choice, making a decision to not stay in

  374. the house of Pharaoh and to to uh to

  375. embrace and to receive and to eat of all

  376. the delicacies and all of the amazing

  377. things that were in Pharaoh's house. He

  378. he he uh decided not to embrace that,

  379. but he he embraced his assignment from

  380. God to go and be with the children of

  381. Israel who were in some challenging

  382. situations. But he did it. He

  383. forwent what it is he could see because

  384. he was following him who was

  385. invisible. That's what verse 27 says.

  386. So, so you and I have the ability to

  387. choose and make a decision to embrace

  388. the hardness or the challenges right

  389. now. We can delay gratification for a

  390. greater good. Why? Because we were made

  391. for this. We were built for this. You

  392. got it? This is how God has wired us.

  393. And so, you know, Bishop wanted me to

  394. make sure that that was nailed down. And

  395. she said, "Tra, now you can't you can't

  396. uh you can't get up from there until you

  397. look at action." Because with attitude,

  398. with alignment, with awareness, we need

  399. action, corresponding action. Go to

  400. Proverbs chapter 6 verse 6-8.

    Proverbs 6:6–8

  401. Proverbs chapter 6 verse 6 through8. You

    Proverbs 6:6–8

  402. and I need corresponding action. And

  403. look at this. Look at where we're going

  404. to look at the model that God gives us

  405. on how we should act. You would think,

  406. you can leave it up, but you would think

  407. that God would use maybe the lion, the

  408. king of the jungle, or maybe a bear that

  409. has uh crazy strength. But no, look at

  410. what the Bible gives us as an example on

  411. how we should act. Proverbs chapter 6

    Proverbs 6:6

  412. verse 6, it says, "Go to the ant." Now,

  413. you and I spent our whole lives trying

  414. to destroy ants. There's a there's a

  415. multi-million dollar industry that is

  416. made to try to get rid of ants for

  417. years. And they still

  418. here. They still here. Look at this. It

  419. says, "Go to the ant, you slugard.

  420. consider her ways and be

  421. wise. Which having no captain, overseer,

  422. or ruler, provides her supplies in the

  423. summer, and gathers her food in the

  424. harvest. Let me read it again.

  425. Go to the

  426. aunt, you slugard. Consider her ways,

  427. how that ant handers their business, and

  428. be

  429. wise. Which having no captain, nobody

  430. standing over top of them, no overseer,

  431. no ruler, provides her supplies in the

  432. summer, getting busy in the heat when

  433. it's hot outside. The aunt is not

  434. chilling. Bring me back up. I'm good.

  435. The aunt is not chilling. And I know we

  436. on the verge of summer. I know we are.

  437. Okay. And I know you probably got plans

  438. in the summer. Okay. I'm not trying to

  439. kill your plans. This is to make

  440. sure that when we go on vacation, that

  441. vacation doesn't follow us

  442. home. What does that mean? When I go on

  443. vacation, I want to plan a kind of

  444. vacation where I can pay for it and it

  445. doesn't follow me home and I'm having to

  446. make payments five months after I went

  447. on that vacation. You got it? It says,

  448. "Look at the ant. Check out the ant and

  449. how the ant is diligent that in the heat

  450. is gathering supplies and in the harvest

  451. is bringing in what is what what is what

  452. it needs." You and I must have the type

  453. of action as it pertains to our money.

  454. We need the same diligence of the ant as

  455. it pertains to our money. Now, on

  456. Sunday, Bishop gave us a spending plan.

  457. And big ups to everybody. Big shout out

  458. to everybody cuz I don't think there was

  459. one spending plan left in the seat here

  460. at church. So absolutely amazing job.

  461. You got it. But if you did not get a

  462. spending plan, you can go to our website

  463. at kccfamily.com, click on resources,

  464. and an electronic version of uh that

  465. spending plan is there. Now the spending

  466. plan, some people may call it a budget.

  467. It is a revealing document that shows us

  468. uh where we are financially. You got it?

  469. And so if we are going to have the

  470. abundant life that God wants us to have,

  471. we must, somebody say in the chat, we

  472. must we have to have a spending plan in

  473. place. We have, like Bishop said, we

  474. have to take some time to tell our money

  475. where to go or we'll spend all of our

  476. time wondering where it went. If you

  477. ever got paid on Friday and looked up on

  478. Monday and didn't know where the money

  479. went, you know exactly what I'm talking

  480. about.

  481. You got it? So, we have to have a

  482. spending plan. So, what I want to

  483. encourage is everybody's in different

  484. places. You got it? Some of you already

  485. have a spending plan. You have a budget.

  486. You're faithful to it. You're working it

  487. every month. It's like clockwork. You

  488. got it? So, you should be looking maybe

  489. to help somebody. And if you're going to

  490. help somebody, don't be arrogant and

  491. cocky acting like you, you know, you

  492. always had it together. Be humble. All

  493. right? Or maybe you can help somebody.

  494. Maybe you had a spending plan and you

  495. had a budget in place and you, you know,

  496. you kind of put it down, got away from

  497. it and started doing your own thing.

  498. Pick it back up. Dust it off. You got

  499. it. Look at it again. Maybe you never

  500. had a spending plan. You're like, "Yo,

  501. you know what? I'm just, you know, I

  502. keep it all in my head and I'm handling

  503. my business, doing it, you know, the

  504. best way I can." I want to encourage you

  505. to give this a shot. Okay? I want you to

  506. give it a shot because the the spending

  507. plan, the budget, it is a tool to tell

  508. our money where to go and it is a

  509. revealing document. Can I just share

  510. with you? You think you know how much

  511. you spend on food, but if you don't have

  512. a budget, you have no

  513. clue. You have absolutely I'm going to

  514. take me a sip of water on that cuz I

  515. know that's right. I know that's

  516. right. You have no clue on what you

  517. spending on food. That's one of those,

  518. you know, that's one of those things

  519. where it kind of just gets away from us.

  520. You go to Burger King and get a number

  521. three. My son loves a number three. You

  522. can go to Burger King and get a number

  523. three. An Impossible Whopper, that is

  524. $12.94 for a meal.

  525. $12.94 for one meal. You if you go and

  526. do that at

  527. least twice a

  528. week, that's at least eight times a

  529. month.

  530. That's That's crazy. By the end of the

  531. year. Now, am I saying don't ever go to

  532. Burger King? No, I'm not saying that.

  533. What I'm saying is let's be

  534. intentional. Let's put a plan together

  535. in place and be intentional so that when

  536. we do go, we're not spending money that

  537. we don't have. You got it? Okay. So, we

  538. we need the spending plan. We need the

  539. spending plan. It is the revealing

  540. document that tells that helps us to

  541. tell our money where to go. Okay. So,

  542. listen. I want to take a moment to go

  543. through what is it? Oh, am I good on

  544. time? I'm good on time. I want to take a

  545. moment and kind of uh maybe introduce to

  546. some remind others of of

  547. this what we call the baby steps. Now,

  548. this comes from a guy named Dave Ramsey

  549. who wrote a phenomenal book called The

  550. Total Money Makeover. Now, from the

  551. onset, let me go on and tell you I don't

  552. believe a lot of stuff that Dave says in

  553. other areas. You got it? Okay. Yeah. You

  554. know, my my man has some interesting

  555. views, but I cannot

  556. deny that God blessed him, graced him to

  557. be able to help people financially. You

  558. got it? So, it's a book called The Total

  559. Money Makeover. In this book called The

  560. Total Money Makeover, he gives what is

  561. called the seven baby steps. And in

  562. these baby steps, this is like a system,

  563. a financial, it's a system to kind of

  564. walk down to be able to get to the place

  565. that we all desire to get to, and that

  566. is to the place of surplus. You got it?

  567. And so with these baby steps, we will

  568. find ourselves. I don't care. I don't

  569. care if you are behind on every bill. I

  570. don't care if you can pay all your bills

  571. with half of a check. you can find

  572. yourself in one of these seven baby

  573. steps. And so I want to give us these

  574. baby steps because we use the the

  575. spending plan to tell our money where to

  576. go as we walk down or walk through these

  577. baby steps. You got it? So baby step

  578. number one. Baby step number one. I'm

  579. going to give them to you and then we'll

  580. get back. We'll we'll we'll work through

  581. with the time we have. Baby step number

  582. one is to get a starter emergency fund

  583. of $1,000.

  584. Okay, a starting emergency fund of

  585. $1,000. Baby step number two is to pay

  586. all off all off pay off all debt except

  587. the

  588. home. Now, don't judge it yet. Just

  589. listen to it. Okay, I ain't pay no. Just

  590. listen to it. You got it. Pay off all

  591. debt except the home. All right. Number

  592. three. Go back to that $1,000 emergency

  593. fund. And now let's make it a 3 to

  594. sixmonth fully funded emergency fund. So

  595. when I know my expenses, that's another

  596. reason to have that budget because your

  597. budget or your spending plan shows you

  598. what it costs to run your house each

  599. month. This is what Bishop calls you

  600. need to know your number. You need to

  601. know the number what it costs to run

  602. your house. Everything from top to

  603. bottom, from rent to toothpaste, what it

  604. costs to run your house each month. And

  605. whatever that is, whether it's 2500,

  606. 3,000, 4,0005, whatever that is, you

  607. need to know your number. And then

  608. whatever that number is, you will

  609. multiply that number by either three,

  610. four, five, or six. And you will have

  611. that amount of money in your emergency

  612. fund to fulfill baby step three. That's

  613. what a 3 to six month fully funded

  614. emergency fund means. You got it? So,

  615. baby step one, start an emergency fund

  616. of $1,000. Baby step two, pay off all

  617. debt except the house. Baby step three,

  618. save a three to six month fully funded

  619. emergency fund. Baby step four is then

  620. after you done that, invest 15% of your

  621. income into

  622. retirement. 15% of your income into

  623. retirement. Now, some people, you know,

  624. they debate this. Let me start investing

  625. now so I can uh, you know, I can uh

  626. maximize the time. You know, you got to

  627. do how you see fit. Just let me give you

  628. the seven. Okay. Number four, invest 15%

  629. into retirement. Number five, save for

  630. kids college if this applies to you.

  631. Now, some of you may say, "Now, I don't

  632. know about saving for kids college

  633. before uh I don't know if I should uh

  634. invest for myself before saving for my

  635. kids college because it seems like that

  636. I'm going to my kids going to go to

  637. college before I need the retirement.

  638. Can I just say now you got to do how you

  639. see fit, but can I just

  640. say there are multiple ways and multiple

  641. programs for your kid to go to college.

  642. They're not multiple ways and multiple

  643. programs for your

  644. retirement. I'm just saying now you

  645. grown, you going to do how you see fit,

  646. but just bear that in mind. You got it?

  647. So number five is save for kids college.

  648. Number six is pay off the home early.

  649. go back and pay your home off early. And

  650. then number seven, now you've been

  651. given. We've been given all along the

  652. way in our budget. Tithe is at the top.

  653. You got it? But in baby step seven, it

  654. is to build wealth and give

  655. generously. Now, we've been giving all

  656. along the way. You got it? We tithe, we

  657. give our offering, we sew into the life

  658. of our pastor. But on baby step seven,

  659. this type of giving, I'm I'm talking

  660. about like uh philanthropic. Isn't that

  661. a word? Is that the right word? Yeah.

  662. Philanthropic giving. I'm talking about

  663. giving on another level. I'm talking

  664. about leaving uh uh wealth to the next

  665. generation giving. I'm talking about

  666. that kind of giving where you go in in

  667. in a grocery store and you turn it out

  668. where you don't pay for somebody else

  669. groceries. I'm talking about not just

  670. paying for their butter and they serve.

  671. I'm talking about paying for a whole

  672. basket of grocer. That kind of giving,

  673. that kind of fund, leaving and

  674. establishing a

  675. scholarship. You understand? That's what

  676. we're talking about in Baby Step 7. that

  677. level of giving. So again, you may be on

  678. one of the you can find yourself on one

  679. of these seven. We take our spending

  680. plan, our budget, and we tell our money

  681. where to go as we walk down these baby

  682. steps. So I want to just touch on baby

  683. step one. Let me just touch on baby step

  684. one because it is critical. It is

  685. important. If you do not have $1,000 set

  686. to the side for just emergencies, I'm

  687. talking to you. you need to get

  688. $1,000 in your emergency fund like

  689. yesterday. Now, for some of you, it is a

  690. matter of going to your checking account

  691. and pulling out a th000 and putting it

  692. into another account that is separate

  693. from your checking account. Some of you

  694. can go and do that at the swipe of a pen

  695. or at the the the push of your card. If

  696. that is the case, I need you to do that

  697. today because you need $1,000. Now,

  698. $1,000 don't take care of everything,

  699. but it'll take care of a lot of

  700. stuff. When that when that when that I

  701. you know, I had a starter to go out on

  702. my car. I ain't I ain't seen $1,000

  703. starter or a fuel pump. Now, it depend

  704. on a set of tires, but usually if you

  705. know, if you're not trying to be a big

  706. baller, you can get a set of tires, $45

  707. $500. So, $1,000 is not an end all, but

  708. it is a great start to take care of the

  709. majority of the emergencies that come up

  710. in our lives. The reason why it's

  711. important to do this is because if you

  712. get started out on a plan and don't have

  713. that $1,000 emergency fund set to the

  714. side, it's going to derail you from your

  715. plan and then it's going to discourage

  716. you from continuing.

  717. How many of you have ever I'll tell

  718. myself I've had times where I had a car

  719. challenge where that water pump or that

  720. starter goes out and when that happens

  721. and I don't have my my $1,000 my my

  722. emergency fund. I don't only have a car

  723. problem but I also have a money problem

  724. cuz now it's not a matter of just

  725. getting my car fixed. Now I'm trying to

  726. figure out how I'm going to get the car

  727. fixed. That's a whole another level of

  728. stress. Imagine having $1,000 to the

  729. side in a separate account. Not in your

  730. sock

  731. drawer, not in your other

  732. drawer, not under the mattress. Cuz it's

  733. amazing how you'll find when when you

  734. know when it's time to order pizza. It's

  735. amazing how you'll go in there and pinch

  736. a little something off that thousand to

  737. order the pizza. So, I need you to put

  738. it away. But imagine having it away and

  739. something happens and instead of

  740. panicking and worrying, you go and get

  741. that $34 $400 and go pay and get it

  742. done. When I tell you that's another

  743. level of peace and

  744. relief. You ever do it, if you ever

  745. experience it, it'll be a great

  746. blessing. You understand? So this is why

  747. we say get this thousand dollar saved

  748. like

  749. yesterday. You understand? This is why

  750. we use a spending plan to begin to cut

  751. begin to cut some things so that we can

  752. get this thousand. What can you sell to

  753. get this thousand dollars? What can you

  754. cut out to get this thousand dollars?

  755. What can you cut back? Can I just tell

  756. you, oh Lord, can I in four minutes I'm

  757. going to be done. Can I just tell you no

  758. amount is too small to cut back? Don't

  759. look at your spending plan and say, "Oh,

  760. well, it's only

  761. $25." No, it's $25 more that can help

  762. you get to your goal faster.

  763. So no amount is too small to help you to

  764. get to your goal. And this is about

  765. showing the diligence, showing God how

  766. serious you are about

  767. pursuing this this life that he wants us

  768. to have. You got it? So I'm going after

  769. this $1,000 to get this $1,000 separate

  770. in the account because I need it there

  771. because it will help protect the plan

  772. that I have. It'll keep me from getting

  773. derailed from my plan. You got it? and I

  774. we need to focus with great intensity on

  775. getting this thousand dollars in place

  776. separate from my checking account. And

  777. can I just tell you about the God we

  778. serve that when when we lock in like

  779. this and get diligent and serious about

  780. the the blessing that he wants us to

  781. have and the the the appropriate

  782. handling of the current resources we

  783. have. God will send the wind at our

  784. back. I like to call it God winking at

  785. us cuz you'll get a little blessing.

  786. You'll get a little something that's

  787. encouragement along the way as you begin

  788. to get in alignment and get things

  789. together and pull that spending plan out

  790. and you look over it and you start

  791. making adjustments and you start uh

  792. delaying

  793. gratification. You're tithing. You're

  794. giving some sort of offering. You're

  795. sewing some sort of seed into your

  796. pastor's life. When you get in alignment

  797. and start going after what God has said

  798. and start putting to practice what we're

  799. being taught, catch this, and you go and

  800. get the other sheet that Bishop gave us

  801. and she told us to underline the

  802. scriptures and our when you start doing

  803. what you've been taught, God starts we

  804. winking at us. He starts blessing us

  805. incrementally as we're uh properly

  806. handling what it is he called us to

  807. handle.

  808. Listen y'all, I don't believe it's for

  809. no reason that God has put this on our

  810. pastor's heart for us to begin to get

  811. ready financially for what God wants to

  812. do. Listen to me and I'm done on this.

  813. Let me close my stuff up. Feel like

  814. bishop. A few years ago, our pastor told

  815. us that we needed to start saving money

  816. and getting ready. This how God this may

  817. have been six, seven years ago. Need to

  818. start saving money and and getting

  819. things together and getting things in

  820. order. She said, "Because we we're going

  821. to need it." And the day that that she

  822. was speaking of where we were needing

  823. it, it has come and

  824. gone. And here we are again. This is not

  825. uh this is not just her talking. This is

  826. the leading of God for us to get ready

  827. and position ourselves and posture

  828. ourselves for financial strength. I'm

  829. telling you, don't ignore what you're

  830. hearing. God is trying to get us in

  831. alignment so that we can be a

  832. manifestation and a billboard of what it

  833. is that he wants to do in the earth. You

  834. know, I I don't let my children leave

  835. the house any kind of way and it gets on

  836. their nerves sometimes because they just

  837. be like, "Dad, really

  838. godly." But as a parent, I can't let

  839. them leave the house any kind of way.

  840. Why? Because they represent

  841. me wherever they go. wherever they are,

  842. they represent me and their

  843. mother. And by the same token, I believe

  844. God doesn't want us out here

  845. misrepresenting him as if he can't take

  846. care of his children. As if his word

  847. doesn't said, "I've never seen the

  848. righteous forsaken," nor his seed

  849. begging bread. And when you and I ignore

  850. the words of God and don't heed what it

  851. is he tells us to do, then we we

  852. misrepresent him and make it look like

  853. he can't take care of us.

  854. Let's get an alignment. Let's get an

  855. attitude adjustment. Let's get an

  856. alignment. Let's be aware of the world's

  857. plan and have a plan of our own. And

  858. let's make an add an adjustment in our

  859. actions. And let's go after this

  860. increase and being

  861. diligent with what God has already given

  862. us so that we can we can be who he's

  863. called us to be. Amen. Amen. Listen, let

  864. me let me whisper a word of prayer.

  865. Father, we thank you for this

  866. opportunity you've given us around your

  867. word. And Lord, uh you know, admittedly,

  868. God, this can be a scary uh subject uh

  869. because uh you know, wherever we find

  870. ourselves in the baby steps, Lord, it

  871. can be challenging. And so, Lord, I pray

  872. for those where it's challenging to go

  873. back and look to pull out a spending

  874. plan, to develop a spending plan. I

  875. thank you Lord that we don't look at it

  876. as if it's all on us but as Bishop told

  877. us on Sunday God we look at it through

  878. eyes of faith trusting and believing

  879. that you are with us.
