  1. It's my moment. Turn in your

  2. Bibles. Come on. You got your Bibles

  3. with you? Lift them up. Let's get ready

  4. to make our confession of faith. Come

  5. on. Say, "This is my Bible." This is my

  6. Bible. It is God's word. It is God's

  7. word. It reveals to me. It reveals to me

  8. God's will. God's will. Therefore,

  9. therefore, it is the final authority the

  10. final authority to which I submit to

  11. which I submit to settle all the issues

  12. all the issues of my life of my life. It

  13. is the standard of my conduct. And the

  14. basis of all my expectations.

  15. Shout it out. I am. I am. What it says I

  16. am. It says I am. I possess. I possess

  17. what it says I possess. Says I and I can

  18. do. I can do. Absolutely everything.

  19. Absolutely everything it says I can do.

  20. Turn and tell your neighbor I know

  21. that's right. I know that's right. All

  22. right. All right. So, we are in our

  23. series on being covenant conscious

  24. financially.

  25. We want to be covenant conscious. Not

  26. just to shout.

  27. Amen. But we want to be that way

  28. financially.

  29. Okay. So, we began our series and you're

  30. going to 2 Kings chapter 6. But we began

    2 Kings 6 chapter mention

  31. our series in Deuteronomy 8:18 that

    Deuteronomy 8:18

  32. says, "It's the Lord that gives us the

  33. power to get wealth that he may

  34. establish his covenant in the earth."

  35. Yes. Huh. Then Proverbs 227 told us the

  36. rich rule over the poor and the borrower

  37. is servant to the lender. So what we

  38. said was we need to check our attitude,

  39. our alignment and our awareness.

  40. All right. We need an attitude that God

  41. wants us blessed.

  42. God wants you to have go. This is not

  43. go. Having just enough when it is not a

  44. survival time or wartime is to be

  45. selfish.

  46. I just need just enough. The devil is a

  47. lie. You don't want more so you can help

  48. somebody. You don't want to check in

  49. down on your family, your neighbors. You

  50. don't care nothing about that. No, no,

  51. no, no, no. I have to change my

  52. attitude. I not I got to move from not

  53. enough. Move from just enough to more

  54. than enough. Amen. And I need to make

  55. that an attitude change. What kind of

  56. change? Attitude. Because remember, if

  57. you only do change behavior but not your

  58. belief, if you only change habit and not

  59. the very heart of the thing. If you only

  60. change the practice but don't change the

  61. perspective, you just postpone the

  62. behavior till another time.

  63. You stop cussing right now. But if you

  64. don't go back and dig through your head

  65. and get that junk out and say, "I don't

  66. even know why I thought I needed to use

  67. other terms that were vulgar. What was I

  68. even thinking to disrespect myself and

  69. my mind?" If you don't go back and dig

  70. it out the next time somebody does

  71. something,

  72. preach. All right. So then we've

  73. realized we need to be in alignment.

  74. That always gets fewer. Okay. Be in

  75. alignment financially. be a tither. It's

  76. not an option. It's a part of our faith.

  77. You know, I was thinking about it. I

  78. told them I was coming down my stairs. I

  79. have um to my to our left we have Muslim

  80. neighbors uh on down and uh in fact the

  81. two beside us and the one in front and

  82. um one of their mothers passed. So I

  83. text her to say, "Hey, you know, I'll be

  84. praying for you and your family and da

  85. da da." She was like, "Oh God, this

  86. means so much more to me than you would

  87. even know. Thank you so much for praying

  88. for me." And on and on. just sweet

  89. people. And uh I was thinking about it,

  90. their faith seems to be uh a little bit

  91. more

  92. daily routine

  93. required. And I said, I was thinking

  94. this coming down the steps this morning.

  95. I said, we have to be careful. We have

  96. such glorious Sunday celebrations that

  97. if we're not careful, we'll think Sunday

  98. is the end of our faith.

  99. [Music]

  100. Yeah, because we could we don't just

  101. come and listen to a speech, say a

  102. prayer, and read a scripture. We going

  103. in. You understand? We we done heard

  104. about seven songs already.

  105. We done hollered, cried, screamed, then

  106. Steve Hartman. We we we go for the whole

  107. gamut, right? But if we're not careful,

  108. we'll think that that's it. But the

  109. daily alignment,

  110. your faith is more than what you

  111. believe. It's the way you adhere to the

  112. belief system.

  113. I'm holding the mic out for the clap.

  114. [Applause]

  115. Yeah. So, get in alignment financially

  116. because you cannot disrespect God and

  117. steal from him and then ask him to bless

  118. everything.

  119. That was like them people who tried to

  120. jump in the fastass lane, Kevin. Y'all

  121. see them? They tried to get in that

  122. fastpass lane like they had it. And then

  123. you get to a certain point and you had

  124. to put your card up against that thing.

  125. They said, "Ma'am, you in standby." So,

  126. not

  127. only you, now you got to get back out of

  128. that. Everybody looking at you. You

  129. understand what I'm saying? And you got

  130. I don't want that.

  131. Go on and be right with the Lord. Amen.

  132. And then we said you need an awareness

  133. of two things. an awareness first of all

  134. that you and I because of our walk with

  135. God are made to come out of anything

  136. that would try to hold us bound.

  137. Can I say something to you? All my life

  138. I always felt so undisiplined, right?

  139. And I'm I'm again I'm not the person

  140. that is as great on routines. Y'all know

  141. the fast is no joke for me getting up

  142. that early in the morning cuz I don't

  143. hardly think nobody I don't want to hear

  144. nobody talk at

  145. 6:30, right? That's Earl. I'm just not

  146. that person. But God has shown me,

  147. Rosie, stop saying you're not

  148. disciplined. You are incredibly

  149. disciplined. And watch this. So are

  150. y'all.

  151. How many say, "Pastor, I don't know. I'm

  152. going Come on, be honest. I don't know."

  153. Let me tell you something. Everything

  154. about the way you

  155. live, now I'm not saying you couldn't

  156. grow in it. I'm saying you'd be

  157. surprised at how disciplined you are

  158. because you're here right now. How many

  159. Well, now I see a lot of empty chair

  160. which is scary cuz we never have empty

  161. chairs at night. But what that says

  162. rain. How many wanted to sleep in?

  163. You probably would have given almost

  164. anything to sleep in. Right. That rain

  165. was

  166. [Applause]

  167. right.

  168. Okay, but now wait a minute. But you're

  169. here though.

  170. No, no, come on. Come on. You're here.

  171. So, what that says to me, and it's

  172. because you already have this mindset.

  173. I'm a ser I'm a I'm a Jesus follower.

  174. The family gathers on Sunday morning.

  175. So, rain, shine, you know, windy don't

  176. make no difference. Snow, unless they

  177. cancel, I'm coming to church. So that

  178. says to me, you were aware that you

  179. didn't want to go. You wanted to sleep

  180. in, but you have a belief system that's

  181. bigger than what you feel. So you made

  182. the decision to do what you knew was

  183. right. Baby, you are disciplined.

  184. Turn and tell your neighbor, you are

  185. disciplined. You are disciplined.

  186. Everything about our faith shows it. You

  187. getting mad, you didn't cuss the person

  188. out. That's discipline.

  189. No, I'm not. That's not even a joke,

  190. y'all. That's not a joke.

  191. You made decisions because of what you

  192. believe.

  193. It's in you and you need to be aware of

  194. it.

  195. Cuz you don't need to think that you

  196. have to live in a financially tight

  197. situation

  198. cuz it's in you to come out.

  199. Okay. Now, so we must be aware aware of

  200. our ability to come out of anything

  201. because of the way our faith operates.

  202. We get a new mindset. We make decisions

  203. based on what we believe and not what we

  204. feel. So, we're perfect candidates to be

  205. free in any situation. But then also an

  206. awareness of where we are. Anytime you

  207. want to go somewhere, you need to figure

  208. out where you are. Amen. Where are you

  209. starting from?

  210. Come on. All right. Proverbs

    Proverbs 27:23

  211. 27:23 says that you and I need to be

  212. careful to know the state of our flocks.

  213. So you had homework last week.

  214. Look at you. Look at you. Okay. One

  215. person that put their head down. She

  216. said, "Oh Lord, I didn't do a list." All

  217. right. How many did your stuff?

  218. Okay. Okay. That's

  219. sad. Okay. That's all right. You better

  220. not let me see one of them papers laying

  221. around. All right. How many had already

  222. done your stuff? You've already worked

  223. on stuff like that. Okay. How many got

  224. to do it this week? Okay. Listen to me

  225. when I share this with you. You know

  226. this is love, right? Unless you got a

  227. whole bunch of

  228. money, you you you don't have another

  229. week.

  230. Okay, y'all saw the y'all saw the stuff.

  231. You You better find your way to some

  232. money. You better listen to what I'm

  233. telling you.

  234. All right, moving on. So, the spending

  235. plan, you need to

  236. know what your expenses are today.

  237. Second

    2 Kings 6 chapter mention

  238. Kings chapter 6. That's my review. Oh,

  239. wait a minute. Thank you, Lord. Oh, he's

  240. so good. From Bible study, we will learn

  241. you need an emergency fund. Amen.

  242. Okay, we looked at two verses. Uh,

  243. Proverbs 6 6-8. Go to the aunt, thou

  244. slugger. Consider her ways and be wise.

  245. Whom having no overseer or guide, she

  246. provides some meat in the summer. You

  247. need to be making money now.

  248. Now, a lot of people are going to say

  249. you're in your 70s, you're in your 80s,

  250. and you're going, "Bishop, where were

  251. you 40 years ago?" I understand. Okay.

  252. But for those of y'all that are 40 and

  253. under,

  254. you you ought to be almost coming to sit

  255. on the floor in front.

  256. 20,

  257. I'm telling you, you going to remember

  258. me when you get old.

  259. Boy, you remember what was her name?

  260. Uh, she was funnyish and real bright

  261. looking and a lot of teeth and whatnot.

  262. You going to remember

  263. because what you do with these lessons

  264. like this will determine what you are

  265. like when you get older.

  266. Okay. Whether you're wondering who going

  267. to come replace your floor cuz you can't

  268. afford to do it.

  269. Bene going too real. I I need to go

  270. Jesus.

  271. Okay. Proverbs 21:20. I want to at least

    Proverbs 21:20

  272. read that one to you. There is treasure.

  273. This is what we learned about this

  274. emergency fund. Treasure to be desired

  275. and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but

  276. a foolish person spends up everything

  277. they see.

  278. You need to have an emergency fund. And

  279. what is that? At least $1,000 to get

  280. started. So if your tire blow out, you

  281. ain't looking around lost.

  282. Come on, talk to me. All right. At least

  283. a th000. Then you want to move to three

  284. to six months of your income sitting.

  285. Yeah. All right. So, Pastor Trev taught

  286. it. It's on the line. It's online. It's

  287. on Bible study. But today, Second Kings,

  288. y'all, Y'all ain't lost your joy, have

  289. you? No. All right. We'll put the song

  290. back on. We put the video back on. We

  291. can't ask Elder Kelly to sing that

  292. again. He killed that. Ain't no more

  293. juice in that. That thing

  294. is gone. Second Kings, starting at verse

  295. one of chapter 6. Come on. And the sons

  296. of the prophets said unto Elisha, Yep.

  297. Behold now, the place where we dwell

  298. with thee is too straight for us. It's

  299. too small. See, when you get a dream,

  300. you got to bust to move.

  301. Okay? Only two people. The place where

  302. we are is too st. It's too narrow. It's

  303. too small for us. All right? So, he

  304. says, "Let's go. Let's build. Everybody

  305. get a beam. We're going to all chip in

  306. and we're going to build a place." He

  307. said, "Okay, go ahead." Verse three, he

  308. said, "Uh, read." And one said, "Be

  309. content, I pray thee, and go with thy

  310. servants." And he answered, "I will go."

  311. I'll go with you. Come on. So he went

  312. with them. And when they came to Jordan,

  313. they cut down. They start cutting down

  314. some more wood. You're going to need

  315. some more. All right. Verse five. But as

  316. one was felling, as he was cutting his

  317. piece of wood, the axe head fell into

  318. the water. Dog gone. And he cried and

  319. said, "Alas, and he wait. Uh-uh. His axe

  320. head fell in the water. And he what? He

  321. did what? Cry. That's what happened when

  322. you when you borrow something and then

  323. it's gone. You

  324. come on, read the verse.

  325. And he cried and said, "Alas, master."

  326. Oh, no. For it was borrowed. Okay, there

  327. it is. M

  328. I need you to I need you to for a moment

  329. identify with the pressure and the

  330. stress and the tears of what happens

  331. when how you feel when something occurs

  332. and you don't have money for it.

  333. You done borrowed this and now it flew

  334. in the water. Axe heads don't swim. you

  335. in trouble cuz you already don't have a

  336. big enough place.

  337. Now you done b Okay, forget it. Y'all

  338. don't know. And don't folk don't even we

  339. don't cut wood. We don't do nothing. So

  340. forget that. Okay, so you b you borrowed

  341. some money.

  342. Yeah.

  343. And then lost your job.

  344. Okay, let's try to put it into you

  345. borrowed some money and somebody broke

  346. in your car and took your wallet and

  347. broke the window to get in. So, you lost

  348. the money you borrowed. Now, you got to

  349. take off a day and you got to get your

  350. W. This is all the scriptures saying.

  351. Yeah. And I need for us to identify

  352. today with that he cried

  353. because this desire to live our lives

  354. for Jesus and to be vessels of God in

  355. the earth is something that says, "Hey,

  356. I want to have the ability to not only

  357. sustain my life, but to have wealth that

  358. could bless other people and create

  359. strength in the kingdom."

  360. Okay, I'm just going to work today. I

  361. came to

  362. work you. First of all, so I'm going to

  363. give you uh we got four little points

  364. today. You going to be able to make it.

  365. My subject today is factor in the cross.

  366. Fact. I know it. It's hard to believe,

  367. but it's in here. Factor in the cross.

  368. So today, we have four points that I

  369. want us to consider as we are covenant

  370. conscious financially. I'm in a covenant

  371. with God. I'm gonna change my mind to

  372. think in line with what the word says.

  373. I'm gonna get in alignment with my

  374. practices and my perspective. Amen.

  375. Amen. Right. Okay. I have an awareness.

  376. I'm going find out where I am

  377. financially. And then this is what I

  378. want to do. Number one, establish the

  379. why. You going to come out of this debt.

  380. And if you're not in that, why you're

  381. going to the next level of abundance.

  382. Establish your why.

  383. You have to understand

  384. something. It is always valuable

  385. time to figure out why you want

  386. something

  387. before you really go after.

  388. It is equivalent to sharpening the edge

  389. of the axe head.

  390. Because if your axe head isn't sharp,

  391. you got to you got to put more force to

  392. it. Come on. Y'all know that you get a

  393. real knife on a steak, you ain't got any

  394. problems. But if you pull that joker up

  395. out the dollar store,

  396. you going to be you going you fitting a

  397. struggle, baby. All right. You got to

  398. establish your why. And Proverbs 22:7

    Proverbs 22:7

  399. tells you, cuz the servant, the borrower

  400. is servant to the lender. I don't want

  401. to be in that position. I said, I don't

  402. want to be in that position. Amen. I

  403. don't want to be like 2 Kings 6:5

    2 Kings 6:5

  404. crying. What I'mma do? We're supposed to

  405. be opening our mouths and giving God

  406. praise. Amen. We're supposed to be open

  407. giving honor to God. Who's the head of

  408. my I thank God for what he's doing in my

  409. life. I bless God. We don't need y'all

  410. pray for me because you know what had

  411. happened was you know and I and I'm just

  412. you know

  413. that why you call it can't have

  414. testimony service now.

  415. folk up there. I can't even hardly be on

  416. Bible study. People trying to ask, "Can

  417. you cash app at me to get to Maryland?"

  418. No. Doc, get off the thing. Listen to

  419. the Bible study. That's what you need to

  420. be doing. And I'm not saying we don't

  421. have needs. I'm saying but that ain't

  422. the place in time. And usually and let's

  423. say how real you want to go. No. Only

  424. Only a few of y'all say is how real you

  425. want to go. Generally, it's the folk who

  426. ain't tithing and ain't doing right that

  427. always need something.

  428. I know it's hard to clap to it. Lord,

  429. they took my slide away. That I don't

  430. know why they want to do me like that.

  431. Put my slide back up. Establish your

  432. why.

  433. Put that back up there for me. There it

  434. is. See, I want to make sure that you

  435. have it down in your spirit that you

  436. want God to do certain things in

  437. you. Before I get started on this quest,

  438. see, even Jesus illustrated this when it

  439. said in Hebrews, who for the joy that

  440. was set before him, he endured the

  441. cross.

  442. There's something that happens in you

  443. when you put the why in front of you.

  444. Because when everybody else say, "We

  445. going the long horn. You going and you

  446. thinking to yourself, nah, I don't know

  447. what should I do. I got some money."

  448. But you know what? I'm tired of even

  449. having to ask, "What should I do?" No, I

  450. ain't going. I'm going to go right home

  451. and eat what I got. Why? Because in

  452. about 17 months, I ain't going to ever

  453. have to ask this question again. And I

  454. can say no to that food today so I can

  455. say yes to stuff later. Y'all ain't

  456. having church with me. And you got to

  457. get that stuck in your

  458. head. Maybe your thing is legacy. And

  459. that's where we are thinking about how

  460. how can I make the biggest impact on two

  461. or three generations.

  462. I started thinking about that thing. I'm

  463. a little older and I I didn't have my

  464. children very young. So I'm like I got

  465. to come I had to sit down that told

  466. y'all about it and come to grips with it

  467. is possible that I may not see them

  468. graduate from high school. I don't know.

  469. I hope to but the reality is Bishop will

  470. hit that's old will hit 60 in about six

  471. seven months

  472. right so so I don't have grandchildren

  473. yet

  474. so you're doing all you can ain't you

  475. son you're doing all in three months hey

  476. lift lift your left

  477. [Applause]

  478. foot yes sir so right So between them,

  479. you know, we believe God for it. But

  480. here's the thing. If it takes another

  481. year or two,

  482. that would make me 80 when they

  483. graduate.

  484. So I I'm I'm thinking about that and I

  485. said, "Okay." So I'm doing my stuff. I

  486. said, "I want to leave this amount of

  487. money for them cars for my

  488. grandchildren, but not when they turn 16

  489. cuz they going to wreck them." That No,

  490. no, no, no. The old ve the mobile is

  491. coming. You know, I want them when they

  492. graduate college or whatever, I want

  493. them to get that's when they say and

  494. they pull all they graduated and then

  495. the parents say, "Here go the keys. This

  496. isn't from

  497. us. Watch this little video."

  498. Hey, I wish I could have been with you

  499. today. I'm in heaven

  500. though. Right. But I was thinking about

  501. you before I left. So, while you drive

  502. your car, give God some praise. Cuz this

  503. came from a worshipper. Hey. Hallelujah.

  504. I want him riding down with Omar on the

  505. back. Little sticker on it. Let's get

  506. the little sticker made. Look at Bae.

  507. I'mma still be here. Look

  508. at all right. Y'all do what you got to

  509. do. But establish your why because it

  510. motivates you. Listen to me. Your why

  511. motivates you when it's tough.

  512. It motivates you. If it's weight, if

  513. it's relationship, whatever your area is

  514. where you feel like you're behind or

  515. whatever, put the why out there.

  516. When I was getting ready to go through

  517. chemo, I said, "Let me pick where I'm

  518. going to go to celebrate when I get

  519. through." So, I'm going to Hawaii when I

  520. get through. And I would look at the

  521. picture. I say, "I'll be there soon."

  522. And that's what I did. And it motivated

  523. me when I had a little pain. Y'all don't

  524. feel like having church. See, even if

  525. you got a if your relationship's real

  526. rough right now, you got to see you got

  527. to look past right now and say, "You

  528. know what? I don't want to be I don't

  529. want to I don't want to be 79 and 80 and

  530. sitting on the porch and or or not on

  531. the porch by myself." No, I want to look

  532. over there and

  533. say, "You some cheeks."

  534. And I want him just like he did the

  535. other day. We were playing skipo and I

  536. and I almost had him. God knows I almost

  537. had him and I lost right at the end. And

  538. so I walked past he was in his man cave

  539. and I

  540. said and y'all know what he did? He's

  541. loser. Right. So, but I want to do that

  542. when I'm 80.

  543. So you got to put that in front of you

  544. when they come in the house. How was

  545. your day? Fine. And you get mad.

  546. Let's see how quiet they got. Y'all

  547. don't Why do y'all come?

  548. All right. Push your neighbor and say,

  549. "Establish your why." Establish your

  550. why. Why do you want to be financially

  551. free? Why do you want to have excess?

  552. Why? Why does it matter to you? Why? I

  553. don't want to hear I don't want to have

  554. to worry about who calling my house.

  555. I don't want to have to worry about

  556. what's will happen to me if I'm not

  557. feeling well. I want to be able to pay

  558. for a nurse to come in the house and

  559. take care of me.

  560. Establish your what? Wow. That's right.

  561. Then number two, you need to decide on

  562. how you going to do this. How you coming

  563. out of debt? On what? How? How? Yeah,

  564. remember that. Now, there are two

  565. primary methods. How many? Two. Now, I

  566. know this don't seem spiritual for

  567. everybody, but it'll seem spiritual when

  568. you don't when like I was at the movie

  569. theater and one of the members leaned

  570. over and said, you know, we put all this

  571. into practice. We paid off our house in

  572. January.

  573. Hey, not not in front over there.

  574. remember to the left side. There he is.

  575. Yeah, cuz see we got that camera right

  576. there, I think. And there we go. Thank

  577. you. You got two basic

  578. methods. You have consolidating your

  579. bills.

  580. Put that up there. What's that say?

  581. Warning. Can y'all see that? Warning.

  582. Why? Because this is what people do. If

  583. you owe, let's say, seven, eight places,

  584. cuz if you did your list, I did one

  585. based on a couple making

  586. $90,000 and their mortgage was

  587. $1,800. Oh, we got a slide for it, too,

  588. but not yet. And so I did all this

  589. stuff. Them jokers was already in $1,000

  590. worth of debt before they even got to

  591. the credit cards.

  592. And their only mortgage was only 1,800.

  593. So what they do is they say this is what

  594. you need to do. You owe 17,000 here and

  595. you owe 14 here, six there, two there.

  596. Put it all into one. Lower that payment.

  597. Push your neighbor and say, "Warning,

  598. warning, warning, warning."

  599. Let me tell you something.

  600. The only time, what did I just say?

  601. Consolidation is beneficial is if you

  602. are the almost most disciplined person

  603. in the

  604. world and you will not veer at all from

  605. your plan.

  606. Cuz this is what happens. People put all

  607. the bills together. They said, "Thank

  608. God, honey. God really came through for

  609. me cuz I was tired honey. Every time the

  610. phone rang and I got and that's what

  611. they tell you. I know you're tired of

  612. the phone

  613. ringing. Let us put all that together.

  614. So now you're not paying 225, 240, 390,

  615. 60 this. You just paying 400. You say, I

  616. just needed, pastor, I'm be honest. I

  617. just needed a break. And you'll ride

  618. that break for about 4 months. And then

  619. you going to open up another card.

  620. And then you going to open up another

  621. bill. And before long, you got all of

  622. that and all of these two. And I know

  623. you say, "Pastor, I want Look at how you

  624. got where you are."

  625. Now, I ain't trying to throw shade. We

  626. shining light, right? So, here's you.

  627. You This is

  628. dangerous.

  629. Okay. Second

  630. way. I don't I just That's like I told

  631. y'all last week about bathrooms and

  632. stuff. And I told you and I'm using cuz

  633. you see them. The commercials are

  634. nonstop. We can fix your bathroom in a

  635. day and they show you the little rotten

  636. stuff and all that rust and all that

  637. stuff and the tub. You be like, "Dang,

  638. they steal you. Oh lord." And they say,

  639. "I need to get that." And you don't have

  640. to pay the 2028.

  641. And you know, and look, I'm not picking

  642. cuz you know I did this, right? You know

  643. I've done this kind of dumb stuff.

  644. That's how I can teach y'all about it,

  645. right? So you you get it done. You feel

  646. I ain't got no payment honey. By 2028,

  647. I'm going to have paid it off cuz what

  648. I'mma do

  649. is now here's my thing. You were looking

  650. at all that rust and that that little uh

  651. the little water thing that you could

  652. move back and forth like that cuz it was

  653. rusted out and you didn't save any money

  654. then to get it fixed. Now that it's

  655. fixed, you think you going to start

  656. saving for it? It ain't fitting to

  657. happen, baby.

  658. and you'll get up there and get right up

  659. on the precipice of that pay, that first

  660. payment, and they tack on that interest

  661. that you ain't had to worry about the

  662. whole time.

  663. It's it Anybody ever heard of rent to

  664. own

  665. furniture? Sit on the

  666. floor. The Lord wants you to lay on the

  667. floor. That's what God is calling for.

  668. You don't you 25% interest that by the

  669. time you get through paying for that

  670. couch, that couch won't be $800. You

  671. done paid $12,000 for that one

  672. couch. God knows. All right. The next

  673. kind is avalanche. Is what? Avalanche.

  674. All right. Now, what that speaks to. So,

  675. look at this on this particular

  676. one. Y'all got a camera so that the

  677. people on the side can see it? One of

  678. the cameras. Put it up here. John, can

  679. they see it? Okay. This

  680. family makes

  681. $90,000. Top. What's Who knows what top

  682. is?

  683. Tithe offering and pastor. My God, you

  684. better praise him. So they make $90,000

  685. a year, right? Y'all sleep? Okay, that's

  686. 7.5K a month. All right. So, their tithe

  687. would be 750.

  688. Y'all y'all know how do I stuff? Let's

  689. pretend they're giving $50 in

  690. offering/pastors offering, vision

  691. builder, everything got to come in that

  692. $50. Sometime it's like that. All right.

  693. So, so as they say, it be like that

  694. sometime. All right. So they got $1,800

  695. worth of mortgage, utilities, three,

  696. phone, two, car 650, cable 139.

  697. What?

  698. Oh, cable more than

  699. that.

  700. Darn. Insurance on car number one, $90 a

  701. month. Car number two, $435. insurance

  702. 80 allowance that's two people that's

  703. $50 a

  704. week

  705. food now food is low

  706. but I'm thinking if you got that much if

  707. you got allowance you try to cut back or

  708. something life insurance

  709. [Applause]

  710. I wish you would put

  711. Oh god did y'all hear me did you hear my

  712. mind that fast I better not see a corner

  713. near member

  714. Go.

  715. Grooming cuz you know the guys going to

  716. get that haircut. You just might as

  717. well. Ladies, we you know. Amen.

  718. We do what we gas,

  719. right? Child care.

  720. I'm just pretending they only got one. I

  721. don't I don't know what to if they got

  722. three. I don't If you got three children

  723. at $150 a week, that's

  724. Huh? Oh, they go to corner cuz it's

  725. usually what? Two

  726. how much?

  727. 270

  728. 273

  729. a week. How many kids?

  730. Let me take this time to invite you to

  731. Cornia

  732. Kaleidoscope. I can't even deal with

  733. that. Incidentals, y'all. These people

  734. already are over their balance because

  735. though you make

  736. $75,000, you only going to bring home

  737. maybe.

  738. Maybe.

  739. When I did the math on these people,

  740. they were minus

  741. $800 every month. That doesn't

  742. include the minimum payments of

  743. 235 125.

  744. Lord JC Penney, holding

  745. on. All right. Now, why was it important

  746. to put these interest rates up

  747. here? This, listen, you have to pay

  748. attention. And I know there are some

  749. people that will probably not want to

  750. watch this and don't feel like this is

  751. churchy for

  752. them. But where are we going to learn

  753. this stuff? Cuz they sure are not

  754. teaching it in school. And if you don't

  755. come from a financially educated family,

  756. then you think it's okay to take your

  757. title

  758. down to the the car play and get get,

  759. you know, to one of them little check

  760. places

  761. and get a loan at 30%.

  762. You don't buy a car at 10%.

  763. You don't No, no, no. Get a bike.

  764. get an electric bike

  765. and a rainshaw

  766. and go to work

  767. until you can afford better. So the

  768. avalanche method is based on like if you

  769. had a mountain and the goal is to knock

  770. the stuff out and then add the payment

  771. to the next one. Right? So you only owe

  772. 75 $725 at JC Penney. We got to hurry up

  773. and get through with that. All right. So

  774. now if you looked at your sheet, the

  775. whole premise of this is as soon as I

  776. get this knocked

  777. out, soon as I get that, now you would

  778. normally go from the highest interest

  779. rate, but it depends on how much you

  780. owe. Sometimes you need to pay off the

  781. little ones first to give you a sense of

  782. momentum.

  783. And as soon as you pay it off, cut it up

  784. and call write the letter and get it

  785. taken off your credit report.

  786. Jesus. Every now and then, Jesus. See,

  787. now the cross enables us to do this.

  788. Again, look at what Jesus did. He

  789. established his why the joy set before

  790. him. He endured the

  791. cross. Same thing here. I'm trying to

  792. figure out how I'm going to do it. How

  793. did he save and rescue us? The cross.

  794. my ability to go ahead and suck it up

  795. and pay it off. Say, "No, we going out."

  796. No, we're not going out tonight.

  797. No, no, no. We good, baby. Let's watch.

  798. We can watch that on TV. Come on. I want

  799. surround sound. I'll stand behind you

  800. and holler. You understand what I'm

  801. saying? We trying to pay the mess

  802. off.

  803. Y'all, I'm sorry. The way stuff hits my

  804. head. Right. So, as soon as I get this

  805. paid off, I'm then going to take this

  806. $40

  807. and you can look into you have to take

  808. the time to see which one is really best

  809. advantageous and I'm adding it. So, now

  810. I don't have to pay this 40. That don't

  811. mean I should go out and raise up cable

  812. and add a whole new

  813. channel. It means now I got instead of

  814. 125, how much can I pay?

  815. 165. Then watch this. When I knock that

  816. out, I add this to that. Now I'm paying

  817. almost $400 a month to get this one

  818. taken out and I've called and gotten rid

  819. of that

  820. and I've gotten rid of that and taken it

  821. off my credit. So I've I've closed the

  822. account down.

  823. You see? So, I'm using this whole

  824. concept of I have the discipline to

  825. apply my faith to this area and I'm

  826. going to deny myself, take up my cross

  827. and knock these bills out in Jesus name

  828. or knock these goals out in Jesus name.

  829. Are y'all following me? All right, come

  830. on. So, let's look at something else.

  831. We're trying to get through. All right.

  832. You got to watch this. You got to

  833. establish your why.

  834. decide on your how. Now, oh, Proverbs

    Proverbs 13:11

  835. 13:11. Proverbs 13:11. Real quick, real

    Proverbs 13:11

  836. quick. I know

  837. y'all maybe y'all help me. I can holler

  838. 30

  839. seconds. It says, first of all, wealth

  840. gotten by vanity, it ends up diminishing

  841. anyhow. But if you get if you get it by

  842. labor, that's when you really increase.

  843. Can I tell you something? It will change

  844. you to change your financial situation

  845. because you put a plan in place.

  846. It's not just it's not just okay at the

  847. 12:00. Now, I encourage you to watch 12

  848. from last week cuz I think it was more

  849. succinct. But I called this brother up

  850. and gave him $700. I was going to give

  851. him $500. Somebody else gave me $200

  852. more. So, I gave it to him. Well, he

  853. just went down. Great big old fell just

  854. went to jumping and bouncing and it was

  855. really great. And I said, "Has that ever

  856. happened to you before?" He said, "No."

  857. I said, "So apparently your

  858. experience doesn't have to control your

  859. expectation.

  860. You can still have an expectation of

  861. something you've never experienced.

  862. God does not need it to have happened

  863. before for it to happen for you now. I

  864. wish I had." So Okay, she got it. It

  865. doesn't have to have happened before.

  866. God can bring a billion dollars in your

  867. hand. You just It doesn't matter that

  868. you don't know nobody with it. God can

  869. make you the fir. Y'all not churching

  870. with me. You see, and so you have to

  871. have that in your mind.

  872. All right. Decide on the how. Decide on

  873. the how. And you become something

  874. different. A person that wins the

  875. lottery generally doesn't have anything

  876. two years later because they didn't get

  877. what they got through labor. Sometime if

  878. you give your children too much, you

  879. have to gauge the kind of person that

  880. they are. Cuz if you give them too much,

  881. they can become entitled acting and

  882. lazy. They said, "I need so and so when

  883. I need moved in that apartment." I said,

  884. "Gosh, man. I'm going to need to tilew."

  885. I said, "I need I got to cut on

  886. electricity." Your dad My dad said,

  887. "Yeah, you going to need

  888. that." Which meant I'm not giving you

  889. nothing for it. You should have known.

  890. Hope it work out for you. Well, I

  891. thought it was the meanest thing. I'm so

  892. glad he didn't give it to me because I

  893. felt like somebody when we were able to

  894. go cut the electricity on and I became

  895. something. Don't hand your children too

  896. much beyond what they can take.

  897. I told my boys earlier I would just It

  898. would kill me to know that y'all were

  899. trifling

  900. and

  901. lazy. Oh, it just it would break my

  902. heart. Thank God we got workers. Amen.

  903. Number three, designate your

  904. wear. Designate your wear. Watch this.

  905. Now, that means that spending plan that

  906. half of y'all didn't

  907. do. I don't like doing budgets. It's not

  908. a

  909. budget. It's a spending plan.

  910. It's you deciding where you're going to

  911. put your money. Yeah.

  912. I made a decision. I like the old me.

  913. Me, too.

  914. And I realized after watching some

  915. people that I didn't want to get older

  916. and not have a sense of security. I know

  917. my security is in

  918. God. But I also appreciate that the Lord

  919. was the one to help me see, put some

  920. money aside.

  921. I know y'all. Oh, Lord. Maybe they'll

  922. come back next week. Jesus.

  923. You got to designate where you want

  924. stuff to. It's the same thing with time.

  925. Everybody in here is not in debt.

  926. Everybody in here is not in debt. You

  927. got to put You need a a living plan.

  928. What about how you spend your time?

  929. You got plenty of money, but if you

  930. don't put any time in your

  931. relationships, they ain't going to have

  932. no depth to them. You don't have time.

  933. And I just got so much going on. It's

  934. always so much. It's just I got so much,

  935. you know, I just I feel like I'm just

  936. overwhelmed all the time and and well

  937. people I mean I want to go out but I

  938. just don't have time. And then you sit

  939. around and say I don't have any friends.

  940. No, you don't cuz you don't put any time

  941. in.

  942. And you got the same amount of time

  943. everybody else is. You just invested

  944. differently.

  945. Ah, y'all are wonderful people. Just go

  946. on finish rose. It's not going well for

  947. you today.

  948. designate the where you commit to preset

  949. limits

  950. I'm going to spend. See a lot of stuff

  951. what we do is we go out like and buy a

  952. car and they hope to be able to pay for

  953. it instead of having your pre your your

  954. spending plan down and seeing what you

  955. can't afford.

  956. But I feel like God want to give me the

  957. desires in my heart. He does after you

  958. pay your stuff off.

  959. Do you see how wise people don't holler

  960. want to come back to church sometime? I

  961. don't know what is.

  962. No, this I can't I can't go out and and

  963. I you know you you Oh, you're driving

  964. good and don't own nothing.

  965. Come on. Talk. Come on now. How many

  966. admit some of us didn't know? We didn't

  967. know. Honey, we went out. I got a I was

  968. talking to a pastor and uh he was

  969. telling me he's like I never heard any

  970. of this stuff driving a Mercedes and

  971. don't own nothing.

  972. [Music]

  973. Okay. So, well, you need to buy

  974. something. I

  975. can't. Wow. But never heard it. Didn't

  976. know it. Didn't know you should the

  977. place where they said no, you ain't got

  978. to put no down payment. Run from that.

  979. Run from that,

  980. honey. I ain't have to put nothing down.

  981. God gave me

  982. favor.

  983. Favor. And the people across the world

  984. while you signing, they holling favor.

  985. Cuz they getting ready to take all that

  986. you owe and throw 20% interest on that

  987. thing. And while you think you got a

  988. deal, you just put their children

  989. through college off that raggedy car

  990. that you just

  991. bought. Now don't look at me strange now

  992. cuz I drove the same vehicle for 10

  993. years straight. And if anything happened

  994. in that niece guy will get big blue

  995. right back.

  996. But I'm trying to get you to see this is

  997. the game they playing. No, but see you

  998. and I, we don't have to have a certain.

  999. Now ain't nothing buy again. If you have

1000. money, buy what you want to buy. If you

1001. don't, same thing I tell you about

  1002. funerals.

1003. I know y'all to get tired of this. I

1004. know you do. But you going to appreciate

1005. me when I'm gone. And I won't care when

  1006. I'm gone. But I'm just saying

1007. we love the people. Oh,

  1008. that person is gone.

1009. And the money you get ready to spend is

1010. not for them. It's for either your how

1011. you want to be seen

1012. or for these people that are nosy.

  1013. Now, if you got

  1014. $15,000, go ahead.

  1015. But if you don't,

1016. that is a kingdom resource.

1017. Designate. Some people had to do their

1018. stuff with the envelope system. Anybody

1019. know what that is? That's when you get

1020. that check. Y'all sit down together. You

1021. say, "Okay, this is our entertainment

1022. money." You put it in the envelope, say

  1023. entertainment.

  1024. And you look at

1025. it. You go back to it. It's the same

1026. amount and you have to agree to follow

1027. that system. Let me get to this last

1028. thing and let y'all go home

1029. today. You designate the where. Please

1030. fill out your spending plan. In fact,

1031. can you help me encourage your neighbor?

1032. Say, "Please fill it out. Please fill it

1033. out for yourself, honey. Fill it out.

1034. Know what you have." To my pastor, it's

1035. too ugly. Look at it with eyes of

1036. faith. All right. Now number four and

  1037. finally factor in the

  1038. who and the

1039. cross. Factor it in. In second Kings we

1040. are introduced Elisha or Elisha as some

1041. call him. They had some people. They

1042. needed another place. It was too small.

1043. They did not have all the resources but

1044. they w were willing to put the work in.

1045. They borrowed the axe head because as

1046. you can imagine that is the expensive

1047. part. They got the axe head. They

1048. started working and while they were

1049. cutting down the trees it flew off into

1050. the water. Now here's the thing. It

1051. brought stress. They instantly started

1052. crying. Oh no. They started panicking.

1053. What are we going to do? See an

1054. emergency fund. They'd have just been

1055. like darn. Well go get some money out

1056. the emergency fund. Yeah. But if you

  1057. don't have it

1058. So the axe head goes down and they start

1059. crying and they go to the man of God and

1060. they say, "Man of God," and he, "What

1061. are we going to do?" He said, "Where did

1062. it fall? Where did it fall? I told you.

1063. How you going to get out of where you

1064. are if you don't know where you are?"

1065. When did this thing start breaking down

1066. for you? Y'all not having church with

1067. me. When did you start making the bad

1068. decisions? Right about that time that

1069. you got that car. Get rid of that car.

1070. I remember John, what kind of car were

  1071. you

1072. driving? He done even forgot how you

1073. would have had so many vehicles to be so

1074. young. Well, he had this nice car he

  1075. bought, the Audi Q7, a grown man's car.

  1076. That's a older grown man's car. So, he's

1077. riding around in it and he starts doing

1078. his stuff. He knew he wanted to be at a

1079. certain place by a certain age. That car

  1080. was expensive.

1081. I ain't say nothing. Did you say

  1082. anything to him about

  1083. it? He

1084. realized I'm spending a whole lot of

1085. money to be about 25 years old.

1086. $763 and what 95. See that thing scarred

1087. him. It scarred him. He still remembers

1088. how much it was. That's been two

  1089. vehicles ago.

1090. But he was able to do it, but it wasn't

1091. wise. Oh God, I wish I had some church

1092. people in here. He said he was able to

1093. do it, but it wasn't wise. It wasn't

1094. moving him toward the goal he wanted to

1095. go to. So he said, "You know what? Let

1096. me take up my cross, turn this car in,

1097. get me one that's about $300 cheaper,

  1098. and start moving toward Y'all ain't

1099. having church with me." That's what they

1100. He said, "Where did it fall in?" And

1101. they told him, and this what I want you

1102. to see. He took a stick. Yeah, that's

1103. for my preachers right there. He took a

1104. stick, a piece of wood,

1105. a cross, and threw it in. See, you said,

1106. "Pastor, I've been trying to get out of

1107. debt for the longest. I've been

1108. believing to get out." But you ain't

1109. factored the cross in. You didn't factor

1110. the fact that you know how to deny

1111. yourself when you want to. You need to

1112. factor the fact that you got God on your

1113. side. You need to factor in the reality

1114. that you know why you want to do it.

1115. Now, they threw the stick in and the

1116. Bible said the axe head begin to swim.

1117. I'm trying to get you to see when you

1118. factor in the fact that God's got a

1119. covenant with you. When you factor in

1120. that you were made to deny yourself so

1121. you could have better later. When you

1122. factor in the fact that God will breathe

1123. on your obedience, I'm telling you

1124. something getting ready to raise up for

1125. you. If you'll factor in the cross,

1126. nudge your neighbor, say, "Factor the

1127. cross in." Cuz this is what I learned

1128. about the cross. Whenever we die on a

1129. cross, God gives us a resurrection. If I

1130. can die to it right now, then in

  1131. about See, y'all ain't churching. You

1132. want to holl at three days. in about 3

1133. days. I don't know how long your day is.

1134. It may take 2 years, but I'm coming

1135. out with all power. I'm coming out with

1136. more than I thought I could have. You

  1137. got to factor it

  1138. in. I'm telling y'all, I'm not just

1139. trying to holler for Holla's sake, but

1140. you got to factor it in. I don't care

1141. what the circumstance looks like. Amen.

1142. I'm not just in this by myself.

1143. He walks with me. He talks with me. I

1144. got the God factor on my life. And when

1145. I throw the cross in, when I factor in

1146. Jesus, when I factor in who he

  1147. [Applause]

1148. is, the Bible says when they threw that

1149. stick in, the axe head floated and they

1150. were able to take it.

1151. Look at what it said. Oh my god. It

1152. said, "Take it up to thee."

1153. And he put out his hand and took it. You

1154. getting ready to get control of your

  1155. circumstance. Y'all don't hear what I'm

1156. saying. You getting ready to get a grip

1157. on this thing. You getting ready to grab

1158. hold of it. I'm telling you, there's

1159. another place God wants for you to walk

1160. in financially. I wish I had some real

  1161. faithfilled people. Somebody getting

1162. ready to grab hold of it. Everybody in

1163. your family talked about it. But God

1164. going to let you be the one to get your

  1165. [Applause]

1166. hand. And all I can tell you, all I can

  1167. tell

1168. you is there's no way I should be able

1169. to live like I live and do what I do.

1170. Come on now. But I factored the cross

1171. in. It don't make sense if you just look

1172. at me. It don't make sense if you just

  1173. look at Ba.

1174. But if you factor in the cross,

  1175. [Applause]

1176. I'm done. But I've told you we bought

1177. that little spot. Bought a spot for my

1178. parents. And uh they kept saying, "Are

1179. you is you are you going to use it for

1180. rental property?" I said, "No." They

1181. said, "Are your parents moving up here?"

  1182. I said, "Probably

1183. not." I said, "Cuz they don't want to

1184. leave their house. They need to, but

1185. they don't want to." They said, "Why are

1186. you buying it?" I said, "Because here's

1187. the thing. If something happens to one

1188. of them, then now I'm in an emergency

1189. situation. This place ain't but one

1190. minute from my house that I ain't going

1191. to get that opportunity again. Honey, I

1192. got a handle on it. Hey, thank you,

1193. Jesus. I went from always being scared

1194. to open up bills. And it didn't happen

1195. overnight. All night Thursday, I was

1196. scared to answer the phone. All night

1197. Friday, I still owed a whole bunch of

1198. folk. all night Saturday. I wasn't sure

1199. I was going to pay it. But

  1200. early

1201. early Sunday morning, I got up with a

1202. few dollars in my hand. I got up able to

1203. do what God called me to

1204. do. And it ain't just for me.

1205. Oh, no. It took some time.

1206. Ooh, but you talking about frolicking

  1207. now.

1208. They laughed at me cuz I wore them same

  1209. pair of jeans.

  1210. Mhm. Sure did. I ain't shamed.

1211. What? Why? Everybody was laughing

1212. because I had on the same pair of jeans

  1213. and t-shirt. You're tucking a couple

  1214. dollars

1215. aside. I wore my same black tennis shoes

1216. so much. Bae named them.

1217. He said, "Yeah, she got the Bishop Roses

  1218. on today."

1219. No, that's what they did. Same truck, 10

  1220. years, same jeans, same

  1221. t-shirt. But guess who's retiring in

1222. peace? I feel like Disney

1223. World. Do you understand what I'm

  1224. saying? You said, "Bishop, I don't I'm

1225. gone." Come on, walk with me, John. You

1226. said, "Bishop, where am I? Time to get

1227. started. Look in your house and see what

1228. you can't sell. Sell some of that mess.

1229. Some of us got jewelry. We ain't going

1230. to never wear that jewelry. You ain't

1231. going to wear that jewelry. Go get rid

1232. of that stuff. Get that $1,000. Tuck it

1233. aside. You say, "Well, I'm scared. I'll

1234. spend it." Find somebody that, you know,

1235. they'll get there. Find that aunt. She

1236. ain't going to never give it back.

1237. I'm just trying to get y'all to see.

1238. Yeah, I know it don't seem spiritual to

1239. you, but I'm telling you,

1240. these are the kinds of lessons that when

1241. you turn your love for Jesus and your

1242. faith on these situations, God can

  1243. change it. I'm telling you, I'm a

  1244. witness of it.

1245. He's faithful. Come on, Doc. Come on.

1246. So, let's give God praise for his
