  1. Who

  2. liy daddy and everybody

  3. I want to talk tonight. We're in

  4. covenant with each other.

  5. Huh?

  6. No, we're in covenant. Jesus is our

  7. representative

  8. and he and the father cut covenant and

  9. we are beneficiaries of what was done.

  10. Which means if Jesus is our

  11. representative, then we're connected.

  12. It's one family. Amen. Uhoh.

  13. That was slow sounding, right? It's one

  14. family. Amen.

  15. Yeah. And as we said today on Sunday,

  16. you have different kinds of

  17. relationships.

  18. I said, but it's like being on a plane.

  19. Yes, sir. If you're on a plane and

  20. there's trouble, you don't jump out the

  21. plane. Somebody feet smell like corn

  22. chips. You just put your mask on, but

  23. you ain't jumping out the plane over

  24. there. And if it gets turbulent, they'll

  25. come on and tell you, "Sit down." We're

  26. not going to serve soda right now.

  27. There's some turbulence and they may

  28. say, "Make sure you fasten your seat

  29. belt." So, in a relationship that's

  30. turbulent, I fasten my seat belt. I

  31. don't jump out the plane. Amen. But if

  32. the plane is on fire,

  33. y'all not talking.

  34. When it becomes toxic,

  35. then I'm grabbing the parachute. As I

  36. said in noonday, as I text in as they

  37. were chopping it up, get your parachute

  38. and get your hind parts out that plane.

  39. But we are a family of believers in

  40. Jesus Christ. Amen. Ain't no star but

  41. him.

  42. He said, "And I if I be lifted up that

  43. he would draw all men to himself." And

  44. so as we lift him up, I love that he

  45. raises us up together. Tonight I want to

  46. talk about one of the

  47. hindrances to our remaining connected

  48. long term because you know some folk

  49. that you can connect for a week.

  50. Amen. If all your friends are brand new,

  51. I'm scared of you.

  52. No. Come on, y'all. Come on. You need

  53. some long-term things in your life.

  54. Amen. Okay. And one of the hindrances to

  55. you and I staying connected long term

  56. with people is when we mismanage

  57. somebody else's success.

  58. Okay. Genesis chapter 4.

    Genesis 4 chapter mention

  59. We're going to listen to verses

  60. 3-2 because I think God has some it's

  61. going it's going to talk to all of us.

  62. Amen. So, let's listen in. And in

  63. process of time, it came to pass that

  64. Cain brought of the fruit of the ground

  65. an offering unto the Lord. Seemed like

  66. he'd be doing good. He brought an

  67. offering. Come on. And Abel, he also

  68. brought of the first of his flocks,

  69. right? And of the fat thereof. And the

  70. Lord had respect unto Abel and to his

  71. offering. But unto Cain, and to his

  72. offering he had no respect. And Cain was

  73. very wroth. Got mad and his countenance

  74. fell to his face up. And the Lord said

  75. unto Cain, "Why art thou wroth?" What's

  76. wrong with you? And why is thy

  77. countenance fallen? If thou dost well,

  78. shalt thou not be accepted? Come on. And

  79. if thou dost not well, sin lith at the

  80. door. Lies at the door. Come on. and

  81. unto thee shall be his desire. Okay? And

  82. thou shalt rule over him. Now, let me do

  83. this while she's just read that in King

  84. James. Any other version, King James on

  85. this particular text did not do a good

  86. job. NIV, NLT, me, any other amplified

  87. uh New American, New Revised Standard

  88. Version, New American. I need you to

  89. hear how it really is rendered because

  90. we may misunderstand what it's saying.

  91. says, "If you do right, of course, you

  92. will be accepted. But if you refuse to

  93. do what is right, then you need to watch

  94. out. Sin is crouching at the door, eager

  95. to control." You watch this. See,

  96. because I don't want you to get mixed up

  97. into thinking this is now the and ruling

  98. and all that has to do with Cain and

  99. Abel. Listen, it says, "But you must

  100. subdue sin and be its master

  101. because sin desires to control us." But

  102. you and I have to rule over sin.

  103. I just need you to make sure that you

  104. understood that part because in one of

  105. the rare places King James does not give

  106. the real heart of that. Okay? So come

  107. on, keep reading in verse eight. And

  108. Cain taught with Abel his brother. Oh my

  109. goodness. And it came to pass when they

  110. were in the field that Cain rose up

  111. against Abel his brother and slew him.

  112. Supposed to be to connect it. Come on.

  113. And the Lord said unto Cain, "Where is

  114. Abel thy brother?" Come on. And he said,

  115. "I know not. Am I my brother's keeper?"

  116. Look at that. And he said, "What hast

  117. thou done?" What have you done? The

  118. voice of thy brother's blood is the

  119. voice of your brother's what? Blood.

  120. Come on. Crith unto me from the ground.

  121. Yep. And now art thou cursed from the

  122. earth, which hath opened her mouth to

  123. receive thy brother's blood from thy

  124. hand. Watch this. When thou tillest the

  125. ground, it shall not henceforth yield.

  126. now on you're not going to get the kind

  127. of yielding you should

  128. when you work. It will not henceforth

  129. yield unto thee the strength you should

  130. get. All

  131. right, y'all want to go back to

  132. singing? Let's

  133. talk. It is natural to live and to look

  134. at your life and then look at other

  135. people's lives too. Let's go on and

  136. admit that that we have a tendency to

  137. kind, you know, we try not to be in

  138. other folks business.

  139. Amen. But it don't always flow that

  140. easily, does it? Because, you know,

  141. let's say if you believe in God to get

  142. married, all you need is for one more

  143. person to send you an invitation. That

  144. thing almost cares you over the edge,

  145. doesn't it? Okay, y'all. You You being

  146. fake tonight. You got right out the

  147. presence of God and ain't going to tell

  148. the truth.

  149. Or if you if you have been if you are

  150. working on something and it does not

  151. seem like it's yielding anything to you

  152. and then you talk to somebody else and

  153. act like everything just handed to them.

  154. Okay. And and what we find is comparison

  155. to a degree is natural.

  156. Okay. Just going through your lesson

  157. rows. Don't try to worry about it. But

  158. there are good and bad ways to compare.

  159. There are good and bad ways to compare

  160. y'all. When comparison is done in the

  161. wrong way,

  162. okay? When it is done in the wrong way,

  163. it is going to cause problems and the

  164. kind of emotions that you will

  165. experience if you mismanage them, they

  166. will turn your heart dark and you will

  167. disconnect from the body God put you in.

  168. And I'm not talking about church. I'm

  169. talking about Jesus himself.

  170. We are looking at one of the very first

  171. stories to really open our eyes about

  172. our nature. You know the story. Cain and

  173. Abel come and they both bring a

  174. sacrifice.

  175. Now, here's the thing. God answers

  176. visibly for one of them.

  177. That's hard right by itself. So Abel

  178. brings his sacrifice, Cain brings his.

  179. Now make note of this, Re Marshall.

  180. Notice that when you read it, it said

  181. Cain brought of the fruit of the ground.

  182. Abel did the same thing. He brought of

  183. the fruit. He brought of the firstling

  184. of his flock. They both brought out of

  185. what they had.

  186. But God answered one or respected one of

  187. them with some kind of visible sign.

  188. What kind of what? Visible. I know it

  189. was visible cuz how would we know? He

  190. accepted one and didn't accept the

  191. other.

  192. Well, if you look in scripture, normally

  193. the way God showed that he was

  194. respecting an offering or accepting it

  195. is he answered by fire.

  196. So imagine you lay your sacrifice up

  197. there and she lays hers up there and the

  198. power of God comes down and consumes

  199. hers. yours just sitting there.

  200. Everybody like

  201. and what's worse, you go.

  202. That's exactly what happened. Now, I

  203. want you to watch what Cain

  204. does. When Cain noticed that God

  205. answered Abel's sacrif had respect to

  206. his stuff, blessed

  207. him. Cain said, "See, that's why I don't

  208. like stuff now."

  209. and Cain got mad and he tore his face

  210. up.

  211. Now, there are two kinds, at least two

  212. kinds of comparison that I want to deal

  213. with with you tonight. You ready to take

  214. notes? Yeah. Okay. There is the kind

  215. that brings is like self- torture. Write

  216. it

  217. down. Thank you, baby. Cuz y'all I'm

  218. tell this is I never expected this, but

  219. I'm all right. Self torture.

  220. You look You look on fa You look on

  221. Facebook and they talking about save the

  222. date and you so mad you

  223. can't. Right. Those ain't holy tongues,

  224. right? Or or or you you happen to I was

  225. listening to um a book and we're talking

  226. about how this one lady had gotten into

  227. design. She was a designer and had been

  228. in it for some years and she was kind of

  229. just doing her thing or whatever. And

  230. all of a sudden that she had a neighbor

  231. that she kind of didn't get along with

  232. that.

  233. Well, I know y'all saved. Y'all get

  234. along with everybody. You just hug and

  235. kiss everybody. But you know, sometimes

  236. you meet people and there's something

  237. about them. They like all the attention

  238. and they just wear you out to be around

  239. them.

  240. And so it wasn't even her favorite

  241. person. So she's a designer. She's been

  242. in the business for years. And then this

  243. other lady who she don't really is not

  244. her favorite. That's what we'll call it.

  245. T is not her favorite. She starts a

  246. divine a design

  247. company. And she gets on Facebook. She's

  248. posting every day. She's doing little

  249. videos. She's doing little snippets.

  250. She's taking pictures of her house. And

  251. what made it worse, all the neighborhood

  252. start posting comments on the other

  253. lady's page.

  254. So the woman who been the designer,

  255. she's she's

  256. spiraling cuz she's looking up there.

  257. Those are pictures of her house. She

  258. didn't even design her own house. And

  259. everybody thinks she's so talented. And

  260. she is hot.

  261. She's so mad. She doesn't know what to

  262. do because she's comparing. And then she

  263. did. She went that next step. And I know

  264. you you don't want to nod, but I'm f to

  265. come for you.

  266. Then she started reading the individual

  267. comments.

  268. Then she started going to their page.

  269. She done become a straight up stalker.

  270. And you see they all of a sudden they in

  271. a

  272. relationship and you said cuz have you

  273. noticed he liked the last seven things

  274. that they put

  275. up. So now you going to everybody's

  276. I know he didn't

  277. put torture.

  278. That's torture. And that's what happened

  279. to Cain when Cain

  280. recognized that Abel had gotten

  281. something that he did not get jealousy.

  282. Envy.

  283. He got so

  284. mad that he start tearing his face up.

  285. And what we have to

  286. recognize is that if you're not careful,

  287. that kind of comparison where you look

  288. at that. See that now? See, that's what

  289. I'm talking. See, I don't even

  290. understand that they they don't hardly

  291. live nothing. No way.

  292. Okay. Okay.

  293. See, some of us get into self torture. I

  294. want you to hear this. Some of us get

  295. into torture. self torture when we see

  296. other people begin to prosper because we

  297. have the faulty belief that someone

  298. else's success can shortcircuit yours.

  299. I want to say something to you and I

  300. want you to hear it and I hope it kind

  301. of stings in your behind a little

  302. bit. There's enough love, money,

  303. happiness, and everything else for

  304. everybody to have some

  305. So somebody else watch this being a

  306. success does not have to mean if just

  307. because uh if that yo pastor well pastor

  308. Trev already said uh like we weren't

  309. made to do life alone so ain't no sense

  310. of me that honey they got it on t-shirts

  311. ain't no sense of me coming up with a

  312. slogan

  313. some of us somebody write a book on

  314. something you were thinking

  315. about ain't no sense of doing it now

  316. like there ain't but one book on it.

  317. See, a lot of times we start finding

  318. ourselves torturing in this self torture

  319. because we do not believe truly in the

  320. sovereignty of God. Oh, y'all don't want

  321. to talk to me tonight. We don't. Let me

  322. tell you something. We sing it, but we

  323. don't believe it. I tell that's why I

  324. don't hardly even like to hear stuff.

  325. And I, you know, I had to catch myself.

  326. That's why I went on and got on my knees

  327. because sometime I start critiquing

  328. things theologically that don't probably

  329. don't need all that. They said there's a

  330. sound that comes down from heaven that

  331. changes everything. And there is. But my

  332. mind was saying, "But seem like we're

  333. talking about praise. So really that

  334. song should be sound should be going

  335. up." I said, "I'm doing too much

  336. thinking. Get on your knees. Just get up

  337. here and start praising. See, figure

  338. that out." Right? But if we we sing

  339. stuff like say stuff what God has for

  340. me.

  341. Y'all act like you don't know the answer

  342. to finish it. It is for me. But then, so

  343. if that's the case, then why is it when

  344. somebody gets ahead or seems to do well

  345. in an arena that we wanted to do well

  346. in, do we act like now we don't have any

  347. options?

  348. I was going to go back and and and get

  349. my masters in this and that they you

  350. know what I

  351. That's torturous.

  352. That's torturous. And what what it is is

  353. a byproduct of not really trusting the

  354. sovereignty of God and by utilizing the

  355. wrong kind of comparison.

  356. Because when people are successy, if you

  357. let someone else's success put you in

  358. competition mode,

  359. then you assume their victory is

  360. blocking you.

  361. But their victory is not blocking you.

  362. It's showing you what to do.

  363. I just found out Pastor Trev said, was

  364. it yesterday or the day before? I I

  365. don't do well with days about the

  366. lawnmower.

  367. It was yesterday. He told me that he

  368. went to do a funeral of one of our

  369. members and somebody was there that said

  370. when they got out of prison I bought

  371. them a lawnmower mean pro I could have

  372. probably did memory is not my strong

  373. suit so I don't have no recollection of

  374. it but praise God now he got a

  375. landscaping business he said cuz I told

  376. and I do believe that when a lot of

  377. times you get out of prison you have to

  378. start a business cuz you may not have a

  379. quick hiring situation.

  380. Isn't that now? Wouldn't it have been

  381. silly for him to say, "What am I

  382. supposed to do with a lawnmower?"

  383. You know how many lawnm how many

  384. landscaping? I'm not saying there's no

  385. wisdom into understanding the saturation

  386. of a market. But y'all, this a big

  387. world. It's 8 billion people out here.

  388. Everybody grass ain't cut. Y'all not

  389. talking to me. You're not talking to me.

  390. See, if I really believe in the

  391. sovereignty of God, then your success

  392. does not diminish mine. And see, if I

  393. trust that God has a plan for my life

  394. and that there are desires that I have,

  395. then I can go after that. And watch

  396. this. If I get out of competition mode,

  397. instead of going, see, that's honey.

  398. Well, I guess you probably can get your

  399. stuff, you know, get fire to fall for

  400. you cuz uh da da da. If I stop that mess

  401. and stop comparing myself to the other

  402. person, that's the wrong kind of

  403. comparison.

  404. What's the wrong kind? Comparing myself

  405. to the other person. What's the wrong

  406. kind?

  407. What's wait, Bishop? If comparing myself

  408. to the other person is the wrong kind,

  409. what should I do? I should compare my

  410. strategies to theirs.

  411. Y'all not here, are you? I'm going just

  412. keep going. Second Corinthians. Pastor,

  413. if you act, okay, you seem like you

  414. enjoy. I'mma do it for you

  415. cuz second Corinthians. Yeah. You go to

  416. school. You think you you think your

  417. outfit some you Oh, I'mma get ready. Oh,

  418. girl, where you walk before you can even

  419. get in? Good. There go the shoes and the

  420. sweater.

  421. If you're if that is able to take all

  422. the joy and and happy juice out of you,

  423. you got some rough days ahead.

  424. See, I'm going to show you Cain's

  425. mistakes in here. But look at 2

  426. Corinthians. Did I give it to you?

  427. Chapter 10, verse 12. For we dare not

  428. make ourselves of the number or compare

  429. ourselves with some that commend

  430. themselves. We don't want to compare

  431. ourselves. We don't want to try to be

  432. trying to be like folk who always talk

  433. about themselves so proud. Come on. But

  434. they measuring themselves by themselves.

  435. They're measuring them.

  436. Thank y'all. Them what? Self. They're

  437. measuring the self person by the other

  438. people comparing

  439. themselves among the other people to

  440. them. That's not wise.

  441. Amen. Amen. If the only way you can have

  442. joy is if you're the smartest or if you

  443. have the most, you're not going to have

  444. it long. Cuz as pretty as you are,

  445. somebody

  446. now I'm holding it down up here. But

  447. there's somebody that looks like me

  448. without the moles I got.

  449. Or there's somebody that has eyes. Or

  450. there's somebody they built a certain

  451. way, rounded here or straight there,

  452. whatever.

  453. You don't compare yourself with others.

  454. That's self torture.

  455. What is it? Self torture. Turn and tell

  456. your neighbor, I'm too smart to do that.

  457. Yeah. I'm I'm getting out of competition

  458. mode because they're not blocking your

  459. way. They're showing you the way. If I

  460. compare the

  461. strategy, come on, let's just look at

  462. it. Then there's a self-eing way.

  463. There's a comparison that is a self-eing

  464. way where you say, "Okay, this is what

  465. this is what Cain should have done.

  466. Wow. Fire came down for yours. Fire

  467. didn't come for mine. Hey Doc, what you

  468. do now? What? How? How you put yours up

  469. there?

  470. See, we make enemies of the people who

  471. could help us.

  472. Instead of looking at

  473. him, I was giving it up. I guess I could

  474. get married,

  475. too. I just wonder if y'all heard that.

  476. Y'all

  477. listening? Instead of starting that

  478. looking at a c cross side and doing all

  479. that stuff or testifying, slapping at

  480. people. You ever seen folk testify and

  481. try to slap at people at the same time?

  482. I give an honor to God for I thank God

  483. for being

  484. holy. I don't do it and everything. But

  485. who is this for? Who is this for?

  486. What are we doing?

  487. You would do better. Say, "Girl,

  488. whenever you get out of church, let's go

  489. get some coffee. Tell me how y'all did."

  490. And you just make mental notes. Okay.

  491. Yes, indeed. Okay. So, she never wore

  492. that bonnet around him. Okay. Okay. I

  493. got you. What uh what tation told me?

  494. They say, "Check." Okay. So, yeah. See,

  495. there's self-eing comparison where I

  496. look at strategies.

  497. Okay. where I step back and say, so the

  498. thing for that lady to have done is to

  499. step back and say, okay, what has she

  500. done differently from me

  501. instead of sitting around and acting

  502. like the world has done you wrong? And

  503. one of the things I've always tried to

  504. share with the boys, which are grown men

  505. now, and I remember we would have the

  506. conversation be like, Kardashian, they

  507. don't do nothing. What have they ever

  508. done? Right. Okay, got you. I mean, I'm

  509. not aware prior. I mean, I don't know

  510. him personally,

  511. but you know, you can't just all I got

  512. is little looks and, you know, round it

  513. out. Okay, there's a whole bunch of

  514. rounded out poor folk.

  515. Y'all ain't talking. There's some pretty

  516. folk that can't rub two nickels

  517. together.

  518. It is It

  519. is It's immature to look up at people

  520. who have any degree of sustained success

  521. in an area. and think it came easy

  522. because by doing that you are robbing

  523. yourself the opportunity to learn some

  524. stuff you learn what to do and some

  525. stuff you learn what not to do and some

  526. stuff you say now that may be okay for

  527. you I got a covenant with God I can't do

  528. that but I can still look to learn your

  529. strategies

  530. that's okay you'll appreciate it later

  531. so Here's the thing. We got to really

  532. deal with this concept of what happens

  533. when

  534. somebody seems to get the attention and

  535. the respect of God on their

  536. sacrifice and you don't seem to.

  537. Let me tell you how deep this thing can

  538. run. You want how far can we go with it

  539. for real? Because now it's going to be

  540. real personal. It's going to be real

  541. sensitive.

  542. What do you

  543. do when

  544. you make all the same confessions and

  545. quote all the same scriptures and your

  546. loved one dies?

  547. And they over here talking about, "I

  548. know he's a healer. He healed me."

  549. See how serious that thing got just that

  550. fast, wasn't

  551. it? And this is one of the things we got

  552. to come to terms with. And I remember

  553. even down on my knees today while it

  554. while we were singing. I said, "God,

  555. there's some situations that I think

  556. about, some things that are going on."

  557. And I said, "God, you know, I lovingly

  558. bow down. I I don't always understand."

  559. And I bring my worship and my submission

  560. to your sovereignty and to your

  561. judgments. Yeah. I don't just bow before

  562. your love

  563. because I don't understand how come

  564. this one's fire fell and got that one

  565. and raised it up

  566. and this one didn't.

  567. I know your nature is the same. But you

  568. know the other thing that does help

  569. me with the I'm telling you having them

  570. boys has taught me a mess of

  571. stuff because you love your

  572. children to the same degree but you

  573. can't treat them the same.

  574. See, we say God honey, God ain't no

  575. respector of And he's not

  576. and I'm not either, but I can't treat

  577. them the same because they're different.

  578. Oh, Lord. I don't have no parents in

  579. here, do Oh, you you know what I'm

  580. talking about. Some of y'all got

  581. brothers and sisters. You could tell

  582. your mama can't hand them $100 and say,

  583. "Go get the

  584. grocery." You

  585. know, they come back, "Hi, Zak. I got

  586. you some uh some rollups. What you call

  587. them things you put in the oven? The

  588. little pizza pop things.

  589. Who? Hot pot. There you

  590. go. Well, you know them thing,

  591. right? Buy can't be the one to get the

  592. $100. Now, that doesn't mean that they

  593. don't love that he or she, the parent

  594. does not love them the same, but she

  595. cannot treat them the same because they

  596. have different Y'all ain't talking. See

  597. this again too. I told you it's going to

  598. get personal

  599. because they have different

  600. proclivities. When you were talking the

  601. other week, there were someone pastor

  602. Chris was preaching. Whenever God is

  603. looking at us and dealing with us, Holy

  604. Spirit takes into account our past, our

  605. present, our future and our

  606. proclivities.

  607. Proclivity is a tendency. Yeah. So, I

  608. have to be a little more careful in the

  609. way I may

  610. put I don't have to be careful on the

  611. way I lay out. If I if I get some good

  612. cabbage cooked, some some

  613. collards, I can leave them in the

  614. refrigerator all week at John's house.

  615. And I can know when I get home every

  616. day, they're going to be right there.

  617. But if I leave them at TJ's

  618. house, day one, I'm coming home, half

  619. them gone, then he going to say, "Oh,

  620. these weren't for me."

  621. So, I may have to do things a little

  622. differently because I know that y'all

  623. ain't having church with me. Their

  624. tendency if I if I have to make a

  625. decision on who to give money to, like I

  626. was looking at things for myself on like

  627. when I when I go to heaven, who would be

  628. in charge? because I wouldn't want

  629. Taurus's mind, you know, taken with

  630. that. Who would be the best? Well, you

  631. know, Zenobi is my sister. I can't Z

  632. would the

  633. pressure of all these people looking at

  634. her that ain't I might as well shoot her

  635. myself. But I can say, darling, darling,

  636. like, hey, this is what's on the paper,

  637. so this is what we're going to go with.

  638. And if something happened, darling, then

  639. Lady Tracy and Terra

  640. Tracy, I'm sorry, but this is really

  641. what you know, Bishop. I mean, I mean,

  642. is everybody already know you ain't

  643. going to strong arm, huh? And she going

  644. to be so sweet. Oh gosh, I really

  645. understand

  646. that. I got a little terror-ish on the

  647. end. Are you understanding? So when God

  648. is dealing with us, a lot of times we

  649. look up at God and you got to be careful

  650. that you don't look up at God like God

  651. is not fair to you because you don't

  652. understand how your life fits into the

  653. bigger scheme of eternity. Y'all ain't

  654. talking to me.

  655. So there have been times like I remember

  656. and I tell this story about my

  657. grandfather, but I remember when I tell

  658. you I was in complete faith. When I say

  659. I had no doubt, I'm telling y'all God is

  660. my witness. I had no doubt that God get

  661. ready to heal and raise him up after he

  662. died.

  663. None. And I went in there. I had already

  664. imagined the headlines. Granddaughter

  665. minister raised his grandfather pastor

  666. from the day. I'd already seen it and I

  667. wasn't necessarily trying to be

  668. impressed. I just said imagine it. I was

  669. like, "Thank you, Jesus, for going in

  670. here. You read in the Bible. You say we

  671. lay here. I'm I'm I'm I'm here for it.

  672. I was

  673. hot,

  674. furious. But when I look

  675. back, if he I call it like the domino,

  676. if his domino piece had not

  677. fallen, it never would have tipped me

  678. into my purpose.

  679. Watch this. If I hadn't tipped over into

  680. my purpose, y'all would probably be

  681. watching the news right about

  682. now. Wouldn't be no corn be another

  683. church. And so when I went back to fuss

  684. at

  685. God, how come? Cuz then I had to help.

  686. Of course, you always know one friend

  687. that had somebody to pray for somebody

  688. that had already coded been dead five

  689. minutes. They rose up, lived another

  690. three years. So, of course, you gonna

  691. bump into them and hear their story.

  692. And I'm mad at God. And I'm say, God

  693. says to me, "What what are we doing

  694. here? You're fussing because I paid him

  695. early and positioned you in time."

  696. See, I don't even have the mentality to

  697. judge an action of God because I'm only

  698. seeing from right here. It's not until

  699. you get elevated. Oh, good God. Preach

  700. O'Neal. It's not until God raised you up

  701. to see differently that you can know

  702. what was good for you in that situation.

  703. But be a be able in your be be can in

  704. your mind. Fire fell for them and it

  705. didn't fall for me. Here's the thing

  706. that really troubled me. Now, the Bible

  707. says they both brought of their stuff.

  708. Is that right? All right. Now, one

  709. minute. Let me go back to make sure

  710. you're getting this. There is a kind of

  711. comparison that is bad and it breeds

  712. what? Self torture. That's right. And

  713. there is a kind of comparison that is

  714. good and it is what? Self teaching.

  715. Uh-huh. The one compares my life, the

  716. person who's better. That kind of

  717. foolishness. The other compares

  718. strategies.

  719. I can never learn from a person that

  720. I've now set up as my enemy.

  721. Amen.

  722. So if in my comparison I make you an

  723. enemy, I've lost your ability to help

  724. me.

  725. Okay. Well, let's just keep going. Rose,

  726. the Bible said they both brought of what

  727. they had. Is that right? Abel brought of

  728. the first ones of his flock. Cain

  729. brought of the fruit. Now, there's a

  730. little bit more to it, though, because

  731. Hebrews chapter 11. Turn to your Bible.

    Hebrews 11 chapter mention

  732. Who has your Bible? I forgot to even do

  733. the confession. Hurry, get your Bible.

  734. Get your Bible. Hebrews 11:4

    Hebrews 11:4

  735. says that Abel, it was by faith that he

  736. offered a more excellent sacrif. Y'all

  737. see it. Read it for me. By faith, Abel,

  738. check your neighbor. Check your

  739. neighbor. Somebody didn't even try to

  740. turn. Check them. This Bible study, we

  741. you can take time to look for it. All

  742. right. Okay. By faith, Abel offered unto

  743. God a more excellent sacrifice than

  744. Cain. How How did Abel offer his? By

  745. faith. Now faith comes by. So apparently

  746. God

  747. Oh, here it come. Here it come. We

  748. didn't even receive offering, did we?

  749. Oh, Lord, that pastor offer going to be

  750. low like 9 cent. Watch

  751. this. See, apparently there's more to

  752. it because he offered it by faith,

  753. Reverend Rashard. So now here's the

  754. thing that seems to imply that it was

  755. made clear what God wanted. And one of

  756. the reasons we get angry when we see

  757. someone else's success is because their

  758. success highlights what we didn't do

  759. that we knew we should have been doing.

  760. We knew we sitting

  761. around. We sitting around fussing,

  762. child. I see. That's why I don't like

  763. people now cuz see everybody everybody

  764. ain't the same. So So let me tell you

  765. something. Success is still going to be

  766. about the same basic stuff. Amen. You

  767. going to have to do the hard work. You

  768. going to have to do it consistently. And

  769. that's pretty much all there is to it.

  770. And you can sit around and get mad. Most

  771. of the time we're just angry because we

  772. and we'll say, "I knew I should have so

  773. and so because I had this is what we do.

  774. I had meant to um um I because what I

  775. was going I what happened was I was

  776. supposed to be getting I remember I oh

  777. my god I was supposed to talk to

  778. remember I had called them but they

  779. ain't never called me back.

  780. So you're going to make your casual lax

  781. attitude about what you needed to do

  782. somebody else's fault.

  783. Let me tell you something. No,

  784. when you see somebody successful, look

  785. at their strategy.

  786. What did they do?

  787. And then you don't imitate the person,

  788. you imitate, you look at the strategy.

  789. How does this appeal to me? How could I

  790. work this into my life?

  791. I was talking the other day. We were

  792. lifting some weight doing some stuff. I

  793. was like, "Oh my god, age is taking

  794. muscle tone so quickly." I just don't

  795. appreciate it's getting on my nerves.

  796. And I then I had and and it's almost

  797. like your phone. I believe them phones

  798. be listening in on her. Let me tell you

  799. something. Oh, you better live holy cuz

  800. I'm telling you, somebody got a video.

  801. Somebody got a video of this mess. So

  802. then the phone sends me this thing. This

  803. woman is 72. She looks like she's 35 and

  804. she and just a soft. So she took a photo

  805. shoot for her 72nd birthday. Boy, that

  806. thing wore me out. And I was sitting I

  807. said, "Tyl, look at this." And she said,

  808. "Well, it's just a matter of doing the

  809. work.

  810. But at the end of the day, it is.

  811. There's some things you cannot control.

  812. But can I tell you most things?

  813. You can.

  814. I don't hear my teens. Y'all ain't

  815. talking. What y'all talking about? I'm

  816. getting ready to have you come up here

  817. and re repeat what I said. You better

  818. have it. All right. So, by faith, Abel

  819. offered. How'd he do it? By faith. All

  820. right. Now,

  821. so that seems to imply that God had made

  822. clear what he wanted. But Cain didn't

  823. feel like going through the trouble. He

  824. could have taken his fruit, traded it in

  825. for a sacrifice, killed it, and had God

  826. receive it. But he ain't feel like doing

  827. all that. Is there anybody could at

  828. least be honest enough to say how many

  829. times you have looked back over and

  830. said, "I just didn't feel like doing all

  831. that, and that's why I am where I am.

  832. Now, can I tell you why I love it when

  833. we can admit that? Because as long as

  834. you blame others, you have no power.

  835. Don't ever blame. Push somebody and say,

  836. "Stop blaming folk." Push them. You're

  837. giving away your power when you blame.

  838. Because if you're the reason that I

  839. can't get it, then I can't do nothing

  840. till you let me.

  841. No, I'm not blaming anybody. I am where

  842. I am at the choices I made. And that's

  843. good news for me. It's bad that I did

  844. it, but it's good news because if my

  845. choices got me where I am, I can make

  846. different choices.

  847. Preach.

  848. Now, write this. Wrong comparisons

  849. lead to

  850. wicked conversations and wasted

  851. conversations. Wrong

  852. comparison lead to wicked

  853. conversations and wasted conversations.

  854. And to be honest in this one, the wasted

  855. ones are even more

  856. devastating because when you compare

  857. yourself and you child, then it leads to

  858. that kind of stuff where you you sit

  859. around like Abselon did. You sit around

  860. and try to sneak in and throw out little

  861. negatives about people. Y'all ain't

  862. talking to me. Just I'm going just

  863. preach it out. Just do what you what you

  864. will. That's where jealous talk comes

  865. out.

  866. She get on my nerves. She thinks she's

  867. so much. You think she's so much that

  868. why you talking about

  869. it? Just I mean, look at her hair. Well,

  870. go and get you some.

  871. Come on, y'all. Amen. Wicked. Envy,

  872. talking

  873. ugly, throwing off on

  874. people. That should not be the talk of

  875. Christians.

  876. Remember, we are one body. Amen. Death

  877. and life are in the power of the tongue.

  878. A fro man soul strife. So it already

  879. shows something is wrong with me when

  880. I'm trying to start a mess.

  881. Man, I got to be careful. You can't let

  882. this get in your heart. If you start

  883. getting into that wrong comparison,

  884. you're going to get into self- torture.

  885. It's going to eat you up. You're going

  886. to be stalking folk. You're going to be

  887. having wicked conversations, man, and

  888. saying things about people. And the

  889. challenge is, watch this. If they never

  890. hear it, it's still out in the

  891. atmosphere and it will change things.

  892. They don't know to clap on that with

  893. trace, but we live long enough. It will

  894. change things. Wicked conversations, the

  895. Bible says that kind of stuff, blessings

  896. and cursings ought not come out the same

  897. fountain.

  898. And it is challenging. Burn. I ain't

  899. lying. It's challenging. If I feel like

  900. I'm doing what I can do and I'm

  901. struggling and then they doing what they

  902. can do and they get another million

  903. dollar deal,

  904. but the place to go with that is back in

  905. the prayer. Okay, God, let me get my

  906. head together. Okay, so it's not like

  907. there's a limit on success or a limit on

  908. money or a limit on opportunity.

  909. So help me to step back and look and see

  910. what can I learn from the example.

  911. It could be could it be that I can set

  912. up a lunch with them? Tell me how you

  913. got to where you are

  914. instead of going all them followers.

  915. Satan got a lot of followers too.

  916. Really? Is there is this where we are?

  917. All right. So it So wrong comparisons

  918. lead to what y'all? Wicked kind of what?

  919. Conversation. Lead to what?

  920. Here's another one. This is the one I

  921. need to hit. This is what gets me,

  922. Pastor Tracy. It leads to

  923. wasted conversations.

  924. Now I'm f to help

  925. somebody. Watch this. This is what stood

  926. out when I shared this when I was

  927. studying this. Watch this. Re Marshall

  928. preacher, read this. It says Cain

  929. brought his stuff. Verse four, right?

  930. God didn't have respect under his. So in

  931. verse five, he got mad. Right. Verse

  932. six. Read it. Oh, she gone. That's

  933. okay. This This word ain't playing with

  934. none of us, is it? No, I'm just playing.

  935. The Lord said unto Cain, "Why are you

  936. angry? And why is your countenance fall

  937. fallen?" Watch this, y'all. He's having

  938. a conversation with God. Amen.

  939. And he's God say if you if you do right,

  940. you'll be accepted.

  941. Okay. I got a problem with verse six and

  942. seven. How come Cain ain't saying

  943. nothing?

  944. Y'all not talking to me? He's compared

  945. himself with Abel. He's in the presence

  946. of the one that didn't accept it. How

  947. come he didn't say, "God, what did I do

  948. wrong?"

  949. That's right.

  950. as a wasted conversation.

  951. Where I'm looking for it in the text.

  952. Where is the Father? I'm sorry. I I I

  953. Lord, my heart is open before before

  954. you. If I if I've done any, search me,

  955. oh God, and try my mind, my heart. And

  956. if there's any wicked way in me, lead me

  957. in the way everlasting. Lord, let me

  958. know. What did I do? Could I have should

  959. I I Oh, I Okay, I should I I you know

  960. what? I already knew Jesus. Let me go

  961. and trade my fruit in. Give me Give me

  962. another chance. I don't hear nothing.

  963. You got the attention of God. I'm

  964. looking for repentance. I'm I'm looking

  965. for anything. He in the presence of God

  966. whining.

  967. He's in the presence of God fuming.

  968. God came.

  969. Uh in church praise and

  970. worship. That's that's what we're doing.

  971. You're in the very presence of the one

  972. who could help you make the adjustment

  973. and get you in the line that you believe

  974. that you supposed to be in. And you

  975. ain't you ain't going you you going to

  976. egg God.

  977. Okay, it gets worse. It gets worse. Keep

  978. reading. Give me verse eight. Here's

  979. another wasted convers. See, when you

  980. compare yourselves in the wrong way, you

  981. end up with a wasted conversation. Watch

  982. this. Read verse eight. And Cain talked

  983. with Abel, his brother. Stop.

  984. Now you're talking to the one that's

  985. successful.

  986. How come I don't say nothing about Doc?

  987. Tell me how you did it. How have you

  988. used your prayer life to get you to this

  989. place? How did you make it through that

  990. divorce?

  991. H how have you been in ministry? That's

  992. what just the other night. Bishop Ed

  993. text me right later. It's about 1:00.

  994. How you been in ministry this long and

  995. still got

  996. joy? Said because I don't know nobody. I

  997. said, doc, it ain't easy in these

  998. streets. That's what I call these

  999. streets. Well, we started talking about

1000. it. But how you you got the person in

1001. front of you that is the success that

1002. you want. You have the example right

1003. there and you you ain't going to ask

  1004. them.

  1005. See,

1006. comparison will make you ignore God

1007. and then waste the conversation with the

1008. example of success that's right in front

1009. of you. You right there with a person

1010. that could help you, but you won't ask

  1011. the right questions.

1012. Well, the fun that's going on. So then

1013. it says he talked with his brother, but

1014. it must not have been a good talk

1015. because then it came to pass. Isn't that

1016. what it says? Keep reading. And it came

1017. to pass when they were in the field that

1018. Cain rose up against Abel his brother.

1019. Watch this. And slew him. You know what

1020. I what hit me? That the

1021. field is the work their work environment

1022. was the trigger. He talked to him. Okay.

1023. But every time he got into the

1024. environment where he's reminded of what

  1025. he doesn't have,

1026. and what he has, it became too much for

  1027. him.

1028. They were in the field and he killed

1029. them. Now, this is what I need to say

1030. and I'm going to let y'all go home

  1031. because I know it's been a heavy night

1032. both in worship and word.

  1033. The scripture

1034. says that he rose up and slew him. He

1035. killed him. What'd he do? Now y'all,

  1036. it's Bible class, right? And I know I

1037. shouldn't watch serial killer novels and

1038. read those and watch the shows the way I

1039. do, but I enjoy them.

1040. So, which, you know, says a lot about

  1041. me. But anyway,

1042. whole bunch of ways to kill people.

1043. particularly a lot. I have Oh, in

  1044. categories. It's

1045. great. He could have snapped his neck,

1046. but that ain't what he

1047. did. Because if you keep reading, oh

1048. God, I'm getting ready to show show you

1049. something. It hit me like a ton of

1050. bricks. God starts asking him questions.

1051. Verse nine, read, baby. And the Lord

1052. said unto Cain, watch this. Where is

1053. Abel thy brother? Come on. And he said,

1054. "I know not." What else he say? Am I my

1055. brother's keeper? Do you see why

1056. comparison is a hindrance to real

  1057. kingdom connection?

1058. Oh, y'all is Come on. Don't let it go

1059. past you. Because when you start

1060. comparing yourself against people and

1061. you put yourself against their selves

1062. and you're comparing wrongly, you

1063. torture. Next thing you start distancing

  1064. yourself. I don't know. Am I supposed to

1065. know? I don't try to keep up with

1066. everybody. First of all, you lying.

1067. You've been on your phone 20 hours a day

1068. for the last six months. You are you're

  1069. lying. You do know.

1070. But do you see that now? It's all of a

  1071. sudden, am I my brother's keeper?

1072. The only person who would even ask that

  1073. question is a murderer.

1074. Of course you should be.

1075. But keep reading. It's still more. And

1076. he said, what does it say? What hast

1077. thou done? What? Keep going. The voice

1078. of thy brother's blood. What? Whoa.

  1079. Wait.

1080. So you didn't just snap his neck.

1081. You did something that drew blood.

1082. You know you stabbed him. I know you

1083. did. Now this is where I really have my

1084. problem. And I'm ready to go on now.

  1085. So can't help me

1086. understand you get in a situation. Okay,

1087. it is tough because God answered this by

1088. fire. But when you had a chance to ask

1089. God, you didn't do it. You didn't repent

1090. and say, "Hey, what did I do wrong? What

1091. can I do to fix it?" Nothing. You so mad

1092. you don't even want to be right

1093. now. So you get a chance to talk to your

1094. brother. You don't ask him, "Show me

1095. your secret, man, cuz I want to do this

1096. thing right. You seem to have this thing

1097. clicking for you. Show me." No, you

1098. don't do that. Then you get in your spot

1099. and you kill him. And you didn't just

  1100. kill

1101. him, you came at him and got blood. Now,

1102. help me to understand this. The same way

1103. you killed him, it took the same effort

1104. that you could have done the sacrifice.

1105. Oh, she got it. Same action,

1106. same energy. Come on. This is in the

1107. Bible. This is You You see it? Remember

1108. the man that they that gave the talents

  1109. some

1110. 151211. The one that got one got a nasty

1111. attitude and instead of burying instead

1112. of taking it and exchanging

1113. it, get what he does. I mean, I'm I can

1114. take any of y'all. Who got money over

1115. here? Piece of money. Let's give a piece

1116. of money. Somebody got a piece of money.

1117. Hurry. Just don't have to be a big

1118. piece. Just give me a piece quickly.

  1119. Y'all ain't serious. Bible class about

1120. over. Here she is. No, she got it right

1121. here. Okay. All right. See, you always

1122. should reach. When I ask to exchange,

1123. you should always exchange with me.

1124. That's y'all slow. Okay. But anyway, so

  1125. watch.

  1126. That didn't take a lot.

1127. And I know she glad, but it didn't take

  1128. a lot. I went, traded, made.

1129. The other guy with one

1130. had to dig in the earth.

1131. And bury it and then cover it back up.

1132. That's right. It took more energy to

1133. disappoint God and himself than it would

1134. have to go make something. It took the

1135. same energy to kill as it would have to

  1136. cut the sacrifice.

  1137. But your mind

1138. messes with you. When you make a mistake

1139. or you start comparing, it's like you go

1140. temporarily nuts. Yeah. Yeah. But we

1141. need to say, "God, help me step back and

1142. and let me look at the strategy they

1143. used. Help me. Help me to learn from

1144. what they did and not attach it to them

1145. as a person. I'm not diminishing my

1146. worth or elevating them so high. They've

1147. done something I haven't done." Every su

1148. success in every area can be boiled down

  1149. to some solid strategies.

1150. Everything. Amen. So, let me see this as

1151. an opportunity. I'm done. But it is

1152. Bible class. And can I say this?

1153. Sometimes God is good enough to let the

1154. person that outshines you be somebody

  1155. you don't like.

1156. And he does it on purpose. Ask me why.

1157. No, you don't want to know bad enough.

1158. Who want to know? You do. Okay. I'm

1159. going to tell you exactly why. Because

1160. if okay, go to Hannah and Panana. Yeah.

1161. If somebody that you loved was

1162. successful in quote unstead of because

1163. it's so much success, eight billion

1164. people, everybody could be. But anyway,

1165. if somebody you just really love

1166. successful and you were flunking, but

1167. you'd be like, "But she's so sweet

1168. though. She deserves it." Oh god. And

1169. that wouldn't motivate you. But when

1170. it's somebody that gets on your ever

1171. loving last nerve and they get See, you

  1172. don't you ain't ain't nobody. Oh,

1173. people that you love when they when they

1174. stop eating carbs and they get real

1175. smart, you be like, "But they they've

1176. been be they're beautiful inside and out

1177. cuz you love them." But when it's

1178. somebody something about them that get

1179. on your nerves so bad and then all of a

1180. sudden they lose weight. You said I'll

1181. be dog on if I'mma eat another piece of

1182. cake for the rest of my life cuz I ain't

1183. because you are more motivated y'all act

1184. like I'm not telling the truth. You are

1185. more motivated when it is something that

1186. rubs you wrong. God, thank you Jesus for

1187. sometime letting us have to deal with

1188. the success of people we don't like.

  1189. Yes.

1190. And here's how we do it. Cuz we church

1191. it up. This we church it up. We ain't

1192. going to just say we don't like them cuz

1193. we're saved and try to be sweet. But

1194. honey, if if if if if those people with

1195. no walk with God can have it.

1196. Wow. God is trying to get us to really

  1197. take a look.

1198. Hannah was barren and Panana was popping

1199. them children out like nothing. And

1200. Hannah was the one trying to walk and

  1201. please God.

1202. But God let it be somebody that was

1203. agitating enough that Hannah said, "You

1204. know what? I'm f to take this prayer up.

1205. Oh no, I'm getting ready to go to

1206. another level cuz I'm not going to be

1207. here next year. This is wearing me out.

1208. This over here, Jesus, is getting to be

1209. too much." She says, "So I'm getting

1210. ready to get focused. What I'm trying to

1211. get you to see Yeah. I don't know what's

1212. going on with the sound. I guess that's

1213. their way of telling me stop. What I'm

1214. trying to get you to understand

  1215. is Cain killed his

  1216. brother because he couldn't

1217. stand that Abel was successful.

1218. If he had just compared the strategy to

  1219. his

1220. own, he could have made adjustments

1221. and been accepted. That's what God said.

1222. If you do right, you going to be

1223. accepted. Amen. So he should have said,

1224. "Well, what's right?" Or, "You know

1225. what? God, forgive me. Give me five

1226. minutes. I got this thing." That's all

1227. he had to do. And when you see other

  1228. people who are

  1229. successful, don't go, don't do that.

1230. say, "Let me step back and see what they

1231. did and utilize that in my life so that

1232. I can lead not only a prosperous and

1233. successful life, but I don't have to cut

  1234. folk off."

1235. Amen. Come on, we're going to pray.

  1236. Lord,

1237. you already know, and I guess that's

1238. what has to be said.

1239. Lord, please don't let us be the kind of

1240. people that turn up our nose at each

1241. other. Lord, we're going to naturally

1242. kind of get a little scratchy, kind of

1243. scratchy sometimes to see other people

1244. with what looks like your visual

  1245. approval.

1246. But Lord, help us to go to you about

1247. that and then see what we can learn from

1248. what they've done so we don't have to

1249. keep cutting toes and fingers and hands

1250. off. We don't want to end up some

  1251. self-righteous just core of a person

1252. because we've cut everything else off.

1253. Give us the kind of wisdom that comes

1254. from your word that would help us to

1255. learn how to stay connected by

1256. celebrating other people's success, by

1257. learning from other people's success,

1258. Father, and by imitating the things that

1259. apply to us, so that God, when we're all

1260. successful, we can give you the glory

1261. and we can do it

1262. together. We don't want you to have to

1263. ask us about the blood of our brother or

  1264. our sister.

1265. I pray for our hearts to be turned

1266. toward you, Jesus, ever the
