have that mission personally

know that it's not enough to have God in

left Jesus back at Jerusalem.

>> THEY FIGURED THAT HE WAS SOMEWHERE in

Maybe he back there with mama and them.

that if we're going to go and possess

the land that God has for us?

be somewhere in the car.

where God has designed for your life, he

just can't be somewhere in the car.

>> Jesus has to be behind the wheel. In

order to go where Jesus desires to take

us, we have to, catch this, give up

control.

decide to walk by faith

>> Point number one, how am I going to let

him? Number one, I have to acknowledge

who's driving.

going to have this ride, if I'm going to

have this bold confidence, the first

thing you and I must do is acknowledge

who's driving.

surrendering control. We are

acknowledging that the road ahead, the

land that we're trying to possess is too

complex, too dangerous, and too big for

us to navigate by ourselves.

Something about me likes the challenge

of just going and and the scenery of

seeing something different.

home destination in my GPS.

until it tells me to take a path that

I'm not familiar with.

I'm not used to

I'm not used to saying baby hunt to him

and he ain't cooked yet.

So God, LET ME SAY. SO YOU ASK ME, LORD,

TO TAKE THIS WAY.

way.

>> And if you're not careful, you'll desert

HIS DIRECTION TO GROW BACK TO WHAT'S

FAMILIAR.

>> Do you believe in God? AND THIS YEAR,

I'M STARTING NOW. I'M GOING TO TITHE.

I'm going to tithe. That's right. I'm

going to bring the tithe into the

storehouse. could be meat in my house.

That's right. And I do it the first

week.

>> And I go to try to go to Starbucks every

day like I'm used to.

And by Wednesday, I'm looking at like, I

can't get Starbucks. I might get that

dollar that dollar coffee from

McDonald's.

>> And it feels Come on.

>> Unfamiliar.

>> It doesn't feel like what I'm used to.

>> And so what'll happen is by February, I

will have abandoned the path,

>> the direction that God is calling me to

because it just don't feel

>> it's not familiar.

If you and I are going to get get to

where God wants us to be,

>> we going to have to let the GPS GPS of

his word

>> direct us.

Amen.

>> Because you're not used to this road.

>> Not in that area.

following the word of God when it comes

to guarding your mind,

>> but you hadn't been used to following

his word when it comes to guarding your

mouth.

It renews our mind. Why? Because when

we're following God's word, a win

doesn't look the same as it used to.

>> You used to equate a win with with

having the last word.

EQUATED the win. Every time they say

something, YOU RIGHT ON top of it,

right?

>> Oh, YOU HAD TO COME BACK for everything.

and you felt like you won

>> because you had the last word.

>> NEVER MIND THAT THERE'S A DIFFERENCE

BETWEEN PEACE AND QUIET.

>> YEAH, YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN THE LAST WORD,

BUT YOU HAVE JUST TORN UP YOUR

RELATIONSHIP.

>> Touch your neighbor and say, "I got to

follow."

>> I got to follow

>> the GPS of his word.

His

word gives us direction

and we have to have the GPS of his word

because understand something when

emotions are loud we need something that

speaks louder.

>> I can't tell you I'm I'm almost done. I

can't tell you how many times that I

chose to go the direction other than

what the GPS was telling me

only to find out sometimes Dominique

that there was an accident that it was

trying to take me around. And catch

this. Sometimes the GPS will show me

with the red in the road that there's an

accident there. But guess what?

Sometimes it won't. RIGHT.

>> SOMETIMES I JUST have to trust.

You're not going to always

see why God's telling you

have to obey without clarity.

and she's going to say something to you.

AND CATCH THIS, SHE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT

SHE SAID.

everything to you doesn't mean you

shouldn't obey.

acknowledge who's in the driver's seat.

>> Then we have to trust the GPS of his

word. Thirdly, and finally, if we're

going to let him, if we're going to have

this ride, if we're going to let God

drive, we're going to have to be

released from the roadblocks of fear.

from the road blocks of fear. Fear is

one of the biggest roadblocks to letting

God drive.

>> It stops progress.

Yes.

>> Fear paralyzes faith

and it keeps us from stepping into the

promise of God.

Can I tell you something? That fear is a

roadblock. It's not a warning sign.

>> Fear is a roadblock.

It's not a warning sign.

The Bible says, "God has not given us

>> the spirit of fear,

>> but of love and of power and a sound

mind."

No, fear fear is not of God.

>> God doesn't want to direct you by fear.

He wants to direct you by wisdom,

>> by instruction,

>> like even as a parent, I don't I don't

we we we can't parent out of fear.

from moving forward.

I was talking to Doc and Pastor Chris

yesterday and they said God is the real

remember. See, fear is paralyzing. I'm

about to fear is paralyzing.

I am My God. I can just jump off this

stage and start running. I am two

semesters away from graduating with my

bachelor. Let me tell y'all something.

Let me tell you something. I No, don't

do that.

I didn't realize that fear was

paralyzing me.

these last five minutes. I went to North

Carolina ENT State University

My mama working two jobs, dad doing all

these kind of things to send me to

school. And I go to school not really

knowing what I should do.

>> but hadn't stopped long enough and done

enough introspection

>> to know what it is that I should be

going after.

>> So I get there and consequently

I just, you know, I end up in computer

science major.

the tourist eyes. And I can remember

being in the engineering building at

McNair Hall

>> and because and in McNair Hall and being

lost as a ball in tall weeds.

I mean I was lost. You hear me? They

were talking ABOUT C++. I I DIDN'T KNOW

WHAT they were talking about.

Hey Jeff, I didn't know what they were

talking about,

man. They handed me a book. That book

was thicker than zoo glass. I didn't

know what

I didn't know what to do.

So I I found myself on academic

probation.

>> Yes, sir.

>> And I was back home in two years.

>> And I felt like a failure.

>> No, I felt I felt like a complete and

utter failure cuz my mom had done so

many things. My dad had done so many

things. Lord, they had a scholarship at

the church. If you grew up in the

Baptist church, they going to send you

off to school, right?

They going to give you that Bible.

>> And they going to pull together a

scholarship $250, $300.

>> Oh Lord. Yeah. They going to put THEY

GOING TO SEND YOU off

>> and I had to come back home

>> without a degree

>> in two years. Ended up working at a

factory.

Met the most amazing woman I have ever

met in my whole life.

standing in a laundromat.

>> She said, "You can go back to school." I

said, "Who?"

I said, "I can't go back to ENT."

>> She said, "No, you can go to Pit

Community College and you can graduate

with your associates. You can do this."

I can remember thinking, "Are you

serious?"

>> So, I went back to Pit and then she

said, "Now you can get your four-year

degree.

I graduated from Pit Community College

in 2003. I think it was 2003.

It took me almost almost 20 years to

apply for school again.

>> I did not know how fear was holding on

to me.

>> I didn't I didn't I didn't know how the

condemnation was holding on TO ME.

>> NO, I DIDN'T KNOW IT. IF YOU ASKED ME

WHY I HADN'T GONE BACK TO SCHOOL, I

don't know. I g I don't know what I

would have said.

>> I don't know.

>> But one day in prayer, God showed me

>> how condemnation

>> and fear

>> was holding me, doc.

>> And it wasn't until I I I I told God as

he brought it up to me and I sat with

him and he showed me probably doing

after one of your sessions

And I put it out there before God.

I asked God, help me to forgive myself.

>> No. Help. Help me to forgive myself. And

then God, help me

to get this fear off of me.

>> SCARED TO GO BACK GO BACK TO CLASS AND

GET BACK in school because of what

happened before.

And boy, I can remember

signing up for a class that I had

dropped.

>> And here I am face to face with it

again.

>> And I can remember getting to a CERTAIN

AND I I can remember just AS GOOD IN THE

SEMESTER WHEN I DROPPED THE class and

coming back to the same point.

>> And this time,

>> this time

I let him

This time I TOOK FEAR OUT OF THE

DRIVER'S SEAT. THIS TIME CONDEMNATION

HAD BEEN KICKED OUT.

>> Pass that class with an A.

>> Hallelujah.

>> What am I saying? That the same God.

>> This is the power OF CORNER CIRCLES. SO

YOU CAN HEAR SOMEBODY ELSE TESTIMONY AND

YOU'LL KNOW THAT THE SAME GOD,

>> if he'll do it for him, he'll do it FOR

ME. GO BACK TO SCHOOL, SIGN UP FOR THE

CLASS, GO BACK AND get the business.

>> Let him

>> This year, it's a new year.

>> Make sure it's a new driver.

>> It's a new year.

But don't let the same things drive you

that have been driving you.

>> It's a new year,

>> but let the word of God be your GPS.

>> but you and I cannot let the roadblock

of fear

God has called us to take territory

>> now. He has called us to take territory

>> and it is time for us to let him.

>> Let's pray.

Father, in Jesus name, we thank you for

your word.

We thank you Lord for how you are

challenging us, how you're positioning

us.

Thank you, Father.

Even for the difficult times where you

will bring things up to us, you don't

bring it up to us to make us feel bad or

to condemn us. You're bringing it up to

us to confront us that you have given us

the strength and what we need to

confront it and deal with it so that it

does not sabotage or steal from us

anymore.

Father, we our response is let's ride

It is our bold yes to your will and

promise.

Father God, it is our confidence in the

one that we have to have behind the

wheel.

But Father, we don't want to just

declare it and still be driving.

We don't want to declare that and still

allow fear or condemnation or pride to

be behind the wheel.

Father, we pause this first Sunday of

the year

to let you

to let you get behind the wheel, to let

your word be our GPS, to not allow fear

to be a roadblock to destiny.

Father, we thank you

that you'll give us what we need to do

what you called us to do. You're not

asking us to do it in our own strength.

Father, may we yield to you, to your

strength, to your will, to your way. And

for that we'll give you praise in Jesus
