  1. so if you have your Bibles or an app

  2. let's open it up we are going to be in

  3. first Thessalonians this morning 1

  4. Thessalonians we're going to be looking

  5. at chapter 4 reading verses 13 through

  6. 18 if you're new to The Grove or if you

  7. have not been here in a while we are

  8. concluding a sermon series that we've

  9. entitled The Coming glory and the way

  10. that we're finishing out this series is

  11. we're going to answer the question what

  12. happens at Christ's return when you look

  13. at all the passages that are reported in

  14. God's holy word there are a lot of them

  15. that get a glimpse of what heaven is

  16. going to look like the Book of

  17. Revelation is filled with symbols and

  18. and images and vivid pictures of what

  19. the coming Glory of Christ will look

  20. like but if I had to

  21. pinpoint a passage that was one of the

  22. greatest descriptions that entail the

  23. glory the Triumph the majesty and really

  24. the victory that is enhanced at Christ's

  25. return I would pick our passage today

  26. Paul does an incredible job of painting

  27. a beautiful picture of what happens in

  28. that glorious moment when the trumpet

  29. sounds and the Lord with his angels and

  30. all the Sons and Daughters of God that

  31. have passed before his coming that he

  32. will enter into our world again in his

  33. second coming to establish his kingdom

  34. forever and ever Paul does an incredible

  35. job of providing hope of stirring their

  36. hearts towards anticipation and really

  37. you and I we're no strangers to what

  38. it's like to live in moments of

  39. anticipation we can take some inventory

  40. this morning and if you're not living in

  41. anticipation you can pinpoint moments in

  42. your life when you have for those of you

  43. who have family serving in the military

  44. or the veterans in the room your family

  45. can attest to the moment of anticipation

  46. when you arrived back home those of you

  47. who have young children you can remember

  48. the moment of anticipation when you were

  49. able to finally deliver them and those

  50. nine months paid off to a beautiful

  51. newborn baby or those of us who have

  52. family living out of town in moments of

  53. anticipation when they return home for

  54. the holidays we can all late with

  55. moments that stir us to anticipation and

  56. excitement and and really what happens

  57. is when we are waiting for those loved

  58. ones when we waiting for those friends

  59. when we are waiting for this reunion

  60. really we ache we hurt and and nothing

  61. fulfills and nothing resolves that

  62. aching the way a reunion does and as

  63. beautiful as those moments are

  64. they really fail in

  65. comparison to the greatest reunion that

  66. will take

  67. place a reunion that happens at the

  68. return of our Lord Jesus Christ Paul is

  69. writing to a young Church in the city of

  70. thessalonica thessalonica was located in

  71. what is now modernday northern Greece

  72. matter of fact in Acts chapter 17 we'll

    Acts 17 chapter mention

  73. be back in our series The Book of Acts

  74. next Sunday

  75. in Acts chapter 17 we read of how Paul

    Acts 17 chapter mention

  76. was establishing the church in

  77. thessalonica matter of fact it tells us

  78. that many Jews and

  79. Gentiles came to know the Lord they were

  80. a thriving Church a a vibrant Church

  81. filled with passion and excitement and

  82. we'll come to find out in our passage

  83. that that passion and excitement was

  84. rooted in one thing and the coming of

  85. the Lord Jesus Christ Church I pray that

  86. that we are a people that though we get

  87. excited and passionate about the things

  88. of this world that that rather than

  89. having our passion and excitement

  90. exclusive to those things we would be

  91. reminded that this anticipation

  92. excitement and passion that we feel

  93. through the blessings of this world

  94. should really remind us and stir us to

  95. Greater affections and passions for the

  96. coming of our Lord Jesus Christ this was

  97. the church in

  98. thessalonica however as months begin to

  99. drag on and some theologians would would

  100. even debate that as years began to drag

  101. on and the return of Christ had not

  102. happened the Thessalonians began to fear

  103. they began to live not in Hope but in

  104. hopelessness and here's the reason why

  105. they lived in a greo Roman culture

  106. remember at at this point in Israel's

  107. history they had been subjugated by the

  108. nation of Rome by uh the kingdom of Rome

  109. Caesar and the emperor there was a lot

  110. of Greek

  111. influence throughout that time period

  112. and Greco Roman culture did not have a

  113. good view of the afterlife as a matter

  114. of fact many in the Greco Roman culture

  115. believe that there was no

  116. afterlife that when your number was

  117. drawn and you closed your eyes and you

  118. breathed your last breath that was it

  119. and that belief began to infiltrate and

  120. influence the church in thessalonica so

  121. you have a group of believers who once

  122. had a passion and a vibrant Faith rooted

  123. in the return of the Lord now

  124. questioning

  125. themselves The Return of Christ has not

  126. happened and many of us though Young

  127. have now grown old and and many of our

  128. Brothers and Sisters in Christ have now

  129. gone and and passed away what happens to

  130. them what if the Lord comes tomorrow but

  131. but they died yesterday do they miss it

  132. what what happens to our loved ones at

  133. the return of the Lord and and

  134. Paul

  135. steeped and filled with Resurrection

  136. hope remember Paul would later write to

  137. the church in Corinth

  138. about the amazing hope the resurrection

  139. brings he matter of fact Paul will

  140. phrase it this way that if Christ has

  141. not risen from the dead then what you

  142. and I profess as our faith our belief in

  143. the gospel is really no belief at all

  144. we'll come to see here in our passage in

  145. just a moment how how Paul links the

  146. resurrection of Jesus

  147. Christ and the truth and what that means

  148. for the believer on how he links it and

  149. connects it to his return so Paul

  150. steeped in this Resurrection Hope begin

  151. to speak begins to speak into the the

  152. despair of the Christians in

  153. thessalonica and he begins to speak with

  154. Clarity telling them that you can have

  155. hope that the return of Christ is not

  156. wishful thinking it's not secluded to

  157. some bucket list but the return of Jesus

  158. is certain it is true because it is

  159. anchored in the the promises of God and

  160. if there is anything that you hear from

  161. this morning's message I pray that it's

  162. this the return of Christ is

  163. certain It Is Anchored in his promises

  164. and the promises of God from Genesis to

  165. Revelation everything in between the

  166. scripture says are yes and amen Christ

  167. is coming back church and I'll ask you

  168. the question that I've been asking you

  169. every single week throughout this series

  170. Christ is coming back are you

  171. ready are you living ready for the

  172. return of

  173. Jesus if you know Christ this morning my

  174. hope and my prayer is that our message

  175. will further solidify your confidence in

  176. Jesus Christ and that it will build and

  177. stir greater devotion and a greater

  178. anticipation for the coming Glory of our

  179. Lord Jesus if you don't know Christ this

  180. morning I pray that our message today as

  181. it provides for you a glimpse of what

  182. will take place at the at the return of

  183. the Lord that it will stir you to

  184. conviction and that the holy spirit will

  185. draw you to Faith in Jesus Christ and by

  186. the time you leave our service this

  187. morning you will have been welcomed into

  188. the family of Faith so 1

    1 Thessalonians 4 chapter mention

  189. Thessalonians chapter 4 beginning in

  190. verse 13 here's what the Apostle Paul

  191. writes

  192. but

  193. we do not want you to be

  194. uninformed I love this Paul doesn't

  195. mince words and every word in the

  196. scripture is a word with purpose and I

  197. love how Paul uses that phrase

  198. uninformed remember the culture the

  199. Thessalonian Christians are up against a

  200. Greco Roman culture that everything they

  201. believe about Gods worship and the

  202. afterlife is in contrary and really in

  203. Rebellion to the truth of the scriptures

  204. and so Paul is painting a beautiful

  205. picture here that those who do not hope

  206. and trust in the resurrection and the

  207. coming of our Lord Jesus Christ are

  208. those who live uninformed

  209. lives and if you live an uninformed life

  210. guess what then your behavior will be

  211. uninformed your behavior is rooted in

  212. your beliefs Randy shared it great this

  213. morning your

  214. devotion and how you go about worshiping

  215. the Lord how you go about living out

  216. your faith is rooted in what you believe

  217. about God and Paul is saying we those

  218. who have been adopted by the family of

  219. Faith he's speaking to Christians Sons

  220. and Daughters of god let's not live our

  221. lives

  222. uninformed here's what breaks my heart

  223. maybe this is true about this church I

  224. pray it's not but here's here what

  225. breaks my heart about Christians in

  226. America today we live so uninformed

  227. about the truth of God about the

  228. scriptures about what God says about who

  229. we are how we bear His

  230. Image we live

  231. uninformed

  232. lives I pray that as a Thessalonians

  233. begin to reignite a passion for who God

  234. is and what his future holds or their

  235. future holds we would as well he

  236. continues Brothers about those who are

  237. asleep that you may not grieve as others

  238. do who have no hope so you'll notice

  239. here Paul is going to be using this

  240. phrase asleep or

  241. sleep and what we find is all throughout

  242. the scriptures particularly in the New

  243. Testament that word

  244. sleep is a way to signify those who have

  245. died people who have passed before

  246. particularly those in the city of

  247. thessalonia the church members there

  248. Paul is saying we do not have to be

  249. uninformed about what the future holds

  250. for them or even presently what is

  251. happening with our loved ones who have

  252. passed and have gone to be with the Lord

  253. we do not want to grieve like those who

  254. have no hope he continues here in verse

  255. 14 for since we believe notice how he

  256. links the resurrection here we believe

  257. that Jesus died and rose again even so

  258. through Jesus God will bring with him

  259. those who have fallen asleep what's he

  260. talking about he's talking about at the

  261. return of Jesus as Heaven and Earth come

  262. together in the final consummation God

  263. will bring with him all the saints of

  264. old every son and daughter of God who

  265. has professed faith in Christ and In

  266. Christ Alone he will bring them with him

  267. as he establishes the new heavens and

  268. the new Earth and what's going to take

  269. place here the resurrection of the Dead

  270. well what does that mean Paul is making

  271. this connection just as Christ was

  272. resurrected from the grave so will your

  273. loved ones be resurrected from the grave

  274. and what they're resurrected with is not

  275. an old body that was limited by sin not

  276. a body that was limited by disease and

  277. okay but they will receive glorified

  278. bodies bodies to walk in what Revelation

  279. calls newness of life I'm getting ahead

  280. of myself here but I think this is an

  281. appropriate time to mention

  282. it those Sons and Daughters of God who

  283. have passed before

  284. us they are presently in the presence of

  285. Jesus

  286. Christ this is what we theologically

  287. call the intermediate

  288. state in other words they exist in

  289. spirit in the presence of God right now

  290. they are singing with the angels around

  291. the Throne of Heaven declaring holy holy

  292. holy is the Lord God Almighty who was

  293. and is and is to come and they

  294. themselves are storing up anticipation

  295. and passion for that moment when Christ

  296. returns and when he does They will

  297. receive their glorified bodies this is

  298. why Paul is saying we do not

  299. grieve as those who have no

  300. hope many of us in here we've lost loved

  301. ones

  302. Sons daughters grandchildren parents

  303. friends

  304. grandparents let me make one thing

  305. absolutely

  306. clear if their faith was in Christ than

  307. they are with Christ and they're doing

  308. far better than any of us are in God's

  309. glory forever verse 15 let's continue

  310. for this what's this the coming of the

  311. lord we declare to you by a word from

  312. the Lord that we who are alive who are

  313. left until the coming of the Lord will

  314. not precede those who have fallen asleep

  315. what is Paul saying he's saying when

  316. when the Lord comes and he brings all

  317. his sons and daughters with him they

  318. will receive their resurrected bodies

  319. first then we who are still alive we who

  320. are here who are left until the coming

  321. of the lord we won't proceed what takes

  322. place here's here's what I love remember

  323. Paul is choosing words very carefully

  324. every word has a purpose that phrase

  325. coming of the Lord is the Greek word

  326. perusa perusia is used 24 other times in

  327. the New Testament and in every instance

  328. that it's used it paints a picture of a

  329. king returning to his kingdom to

  330. establish Victory

  331. forever royalty the red carpet being

  332. rolled out citizens going to meet their

  333. King returning home this is the picture

  334. of what happens at the coming of Jesus

  335. that the coming glory is exactly that

  336. the glory of God on display the

  337. perusia where the Lord Jesus returns to

  338. his kingdom to establish it in Victory

  339. for all eternity verse 16 Paul gets

  340. really clear for the Lord himself will

  341. descend from heaven with a cry of

  342. command with the voice of an archangel

  343. with the sound of the trumpet of God and

  344. the dead in Christ will rise first to

  345. receive their glorified bodies Paul made

  346. this clear right we will not precede

  347. those who have fallen asleep he told us

  348. here in verse 15 verse 17 then we who

  349. are alive who are left will be caught up

  350. together with them in the clouds to meet

  351. the Lord in the air and so we will be

  352. with the Lord Verse 18 therefore

  353. encourage one another with these words

  354. and all God's people said amen Lord

  355. would you bless your word Holy Spirit

  356. would you stir our

  357. hearts Paul is making a case here with

  358. Clarity with Simplicity but with bold

  359. Authority Empower remember earlier in

  360. our passage what did Paul Paul declare

  361. that what he declares

  362. it is a word from the lord it's not

  363. Paul's opinion it's not a consensus of

  364. what people believe but this is a word

  365. from God and what's at the center of

  366. this word Jesus is coming

  367. back he will return and I believe what

  368. Paul is doing is he is painting three

  369. vivid pictures of what will happen at

  370. Christ's return and each of those

  371. pictures plays out in a very unique way

  372. that the passage really articulates to

  373. us and so we're going to look at three

  374. of those pictures if you're taking notes

  375. here's the first one it's a picture of

  376. certainty in other words Christ's return

  377. is certain you may have noticed

  378. something in verse 16 Paul doesn't mince

  379. words he doesn't speak in ambiguity Paul

  380. doesn't say if Christ returns it says

  381. when Christ returns go back with me to

  382. verse

  383. 16 for the Lord himself will come down

  384. from heaven with a loud command with the

  385. voice of the Archangel with the trumpet

  386. call of God and the dead in Christ will

  387. rise first here's what I love because

  388. this is not a secret event this is a

  389. public display of God's majesty and

  390. Glory the psalmist tells us that the

  391. Thunders in a thunderstorm are

  392. indicative of the voice of

  393. God and when The Thunder Rolls and it's

  394. an indication of God's voice how much

  395. more will the trumpet call of God

  396. indicate God's power God's might and

  397. God's

  398. Authority this trumpet blast is a

  399. signal as God is wrapping up

  400. Redemptive

  401. history did you know there is a window

  402. that God in his mercy and Grace and he

  403. does not have to do this he is a just

  404. God and a just God deals with the

  405. penalty and provides the consequences

  406. for the sin the rebellion and the evil

  407. that we commit before the holy God of

  408. creation God is right and holy in his

  409. justice but in his grace and his Mercy

  410. he provides a window for you and I that

  411. while we have breath in our lungs we

  412. might turn to him in

  413. faith so that at his coming at the

  414. Glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ

  415. we are ready to be caught up with him to

  416. meet him to welcome him as Heaven and

  417. Earth are

  418. established and the presence of God is

  419. with us forever and ever two things take

  420. place in this moment for the believer it

  421. solidifies

  422. confidence because the return of Christ

  423. it's not based on speculation this is

  424. one of the main points Paul is

  425. making that you do not have to grieve

  426. like those who have no hope because just

  427. as Jesus Christ was resurrected from the

  428. grave this is a letter written to a

  429. people anywhere between 40 to 50 years

  430. after the resurrection of Jesus in other

  431. words people who had witnessed the

  432. resurrected Christ were still

  433. alive it was a known truth it was an

  434. accepted fact in the life of Israel

  435. during this time and so Paul is saying

  436. just like Jesus was resurrected from the

  437. grave and just like that is a certainty

  438. we can be certain that the Lord will

  439. return so for the believer it gives us

  440. confidence

  441. because we don't speculate we stand on

  442. the sure Promises of God the author of

  443. Hebrews puts it this way that the gospel

  444. and all that we profess to believe in

  445. Jesus Christ that that would serve as an

  446. anchor for our hope are you Anchored In

  447. Hope Are you standing firm on the

  448. Promises of

  449. God because his promises in their

  450. fullness and

  451. culmination will come to us one day the

  452. scripture tells us in Acts 1:1 that as

    Acts 1:1

  453. Jesus ascended from the mount back into

  454. heaven and disappeared into the clouds

  455. and as the disciples gazed upward in awe

  456. and in worship they were told there's a

  457. mission to accomplish and just as Jesus

  458. ascended to heaven in the same way he

  459. will descend back to

  460. Earth and they lived with that certainty

  461. so much so that church history and

  462. tradition tradition tells us that the

  463. rest of the disciples died as Martyrs

  464. for the

  465. gospel you only die a martyr for

  466. something that you know is certain and

  467. you truly believe in for the nonbeliever

  468. again this is an invitation to come to

  469. receive the Lord Jesus so how do we

  470. apply this picture this certainty of

  471. Christ's return We Live ready church

  472. this is what we do we live ready ready

  473. lives we take advantage of every

  474. opportunity that is laid before us to

  475. love our neighbors to speak a word of

  476. compassion to tell people about Jesus to

  477. serve our community not for the sake of

  478. service not for the sake of clout but

  479. for the sake of the Gospel that others

  480. might taste and see the goodness of the

  481. Lord some of us you have a family member

  482. who doesn't know Jesus you have a

  483. coworker who doesn't know Jesus you have

  484. a spouse who doesn't know Jesus how are

  485. you inviting them into the kingdom of

  486. God his return is certain are we living

  487. ready the certainty of the trumpet call

  488. of God should cause us to live with

  489. Readiness it should change how we live

  490. our lives today here's the second

  491. picture that Paul is painting it's not

  492. just a picture of certainty but don't

  493. miss this this is a picture of Hope and

  494. this is what we find happens at the

  495. return of Christ Christ's return brings

  496. hope rather Christ's return

  497. solidifies hope it proves our hope it

  498. elevates our hope so that we would no

  499. longer live hopeless lives but that we

  500. would live hopeful for all eternity Paul

  501. acknowledges here's here's what I love

  502. about this Paul acknowledges the reality

  503. of our

  504. grief he acknowledges that we mourn the

  505. loss of loved

  506. ones some of us are dealing with a grief

  507. that we on this side of heaven will

  508. never

  509. overcome and God will purpose

  510. that so that in those continued moments

  511. of grief we would cling to him and we

  512. would Embrace his truth and for many of

  513. us the only way we are able to wake up

  514. and make it through the day is because

  515. we cling to the hope of the

  516. Gospel we cling to the moment Christ

  517. will return We cling to the moment where

  518. we will see our sons and daughters smile

  519. again we cling to the moment when we

  520. will be able to cradle our children

  521. again when we will be able to embrace

  522. all those who have gone before us this

  523. is a

  524. hope that the return of Christ provides

  525. and so Paul acknowledges the reality of

  526. grief the painfulness of what we endure

  527. this side of heaven but here's what I

  528. love he distinguishes

  529. it we do not grieve as those who are

  530. uninformed Christian grief is not like

  531. worldly

  532. grief it's still difficult it is still

  533. painful but at the end of grief is what

  534. it's

  535. hope it is a hope that transforms us go

  536. back with me to verse

  537. 13 brothers and sisters we do not want

  538. you to be un formed about those who

  539. sleep in death so that you do not grieve

  540. like the rest of mankind who have no

  541. hope for for we believe that Jesus died

  542. and rose again and so we believe that

  543. God will bring with Jesus those who have

  544. fallen asleep in him everyone look at me

  545. I don't let's not miss

  546. this death is

  547. real and death is

  548. painful but it is not f

  549. this is the hope that we live in this is

  550. the hope that we cling to those who have

  551. died in Christ are with Christ

  552. now worshiping

  553. glorifying living their lives in

  554. adoration to him and when Christ returns

  555. they will come with him reunited and

  556. glorified bodies verse 16 says the dead

  557. in Christ will rise first so how do we

  558. apply this how do we apply this picture

  559. of Hope here it is do not live in

  560. despair now I'll be the first to tell

  561. you way easier said than done amen but I

  562. believe the Christian Life is a life of

  563. process it's a life of taking steps

  564. forward some of us move closer to the

  565. Lord by Leaps and Bounds praise God you

  566. have been gifted way more than I

  567. have others we take small steps towards

  568. Jesus we endure Temptation we we

  569. struggle with habits we endure these

  570. vices and then we take a couple more

  571. steps towards

  572. Jesus the

  573. idea is not how fast you're moving

  574. towards Jesus though as your Pastor I

  575. pray that we would all put a pep in our

  576. step towards the way that we pursue

  577. Jesus but the goal at the end of the day

  578. are you pursuing Christ

  579. because if you're pursuing Christ with

  580. all that you have and all that you are

  581. and that will look methodically method

  582. meth our

  583. methods will be different rubber baby

  584. buggy bumper rubber baby buggy

  585. bumper our methods will be different but

  586. the goal is that we're pursuing

  587. Christ are you pursuing Christ are you

  588. clinging to the hope that he provides

  589. because death does not have the final

  590. say Jesus conquered the grave and so

  591. shall

  592. we it's a beautiful picture and so we

  593. mourn but not as the world

  594. Mourns we grieve but not as the world

  595. Grieves we live with the confidence that

  596. we will see our brothers and sisters

  597. again this changes how we view death it

  598. changes

  599. how we hold on to the hope that is

  600. provided because we know that the

  601. resurrection is

  602. coming and then this is our third and

  603. final picture that I believe Paul is

  604. painting here it's a picture of

  605. reunion Christ's return is a

  606. reunion it's an incredible picture that

  607. he paints here in verse

  608. 17 he writes then we who are alive who

  609. are left will be caught up together with

  610. them in the clouds to meet the Lord in

  611. the air and so we will always be with

  612. the Lord some of you who are students of

  613. eschatology that is the study of the end

  614. times the study of the last days you'll

  615. look at this passage that we just read

  616. particularly this verse verse 17 and and

  617. often times this is attributed to a

  618. doctrine that is known as the doctrine

  619. of the Rapture now there are many ways

  620. that you can look at verse 17 Rapture

  621. Doctrine is one of those ways Rapture

  622. doctrine stipulates that towards the

  623. last days there will be seven years of

  624. tribulation prior to those seven years

  625. Christ will Rapture the

  626. church out of Earth those Christians

  627. will go be with him in

  628. heaven now if you believe Rapture

  629. theology more power to you I don't

  630. believe 1 Thessalonians 4:17 speaks into

    1 Thessalonians 4:17

  631. Rapture theology I particularly do not

  632. hold to Rapture theology much like we

  633. looked at the Spectrum of views

  634. regarding the Antichrist there are a

  635. spectrum of views regarding the end

  636. times Rapture theology included that you

  637. can hold to that you can profess and

  638. that you could believe and still be a

  639. god-honoring Bible teaching Christ

  640. exalting Christian now let me tell you

  641. why I believe 1 Thessalonians 4 doesn't

  642. espouse Rapture Theology and it has a

  643. lot to do with the words Paul uses here

  644. remember earlier Paul used the word the

  645. coming of the Lord which in the Greek is

  646. the word perusia perusia 24 times used

  647. in the New Testament is a descriptor

  648. word that shows us a king returning to

  649. his kingdom so that he may remain in his

  650. kingdom not returning to his kingdom

  651. taking the citizens with him and turning

  652. tur back around to go somewhere else

  653. that's not the picture Paul is painting

  654. here that's not the way the word is used

  655. 24 other times in the Bible but then

  656. there's another word here that Paul

  657. uses that word in the phrase meet the

  658. Lord in the

  659. air that Greek word there is

  660. aesis and

  661. aenis is used other times in the

  662. scripture and every time it is used it

  663. is always used to describe this a king

  664. returning to his kingdom and the

  665. citizens in droves marching out the city

  666. walls to meet him at his return and once

  667. they meet him at his return to then turn

  668. back to the city from which they came

  669. this is the picture that Paul is

  670. painting here and so when Paul talks

  671. about a

  672. reunion he's talking about the second

  673. coming of Jesus that right here the

  674. greatest reunion the universe has ever

  675. known will take place as the Lord

  676. returns to earth and his citizens go out

  677. to meet with him to welcome him back

  678. into his kingdom for all eternity this

  679. is why we constantly paint the return of

  680. Christ this way that that heaven is not

  681. far in way but you and I we get to taste

  682. and see bits of heaven right here right

  683. now primarily we get to taste and see it

  684. through the ministry of the church we

  685. are the bride of Christ and we've been

  686. saying it throughout this entire series

  687. Jesus framed it this way that the

  688. kingdom of God the Kingdom of Heaven is

  689. at hand in other words he he's not

  690. saying the kingdom is something that we

  691. have to wait for that the Kingdom of of

  692. Heaven is something that will come at a

  693. later time no he's saying it's right

  694. here it's among you it's in you and it

  695. thrives and it moves forward through you

  696. that's why we say we live in the already

  697. but not yet we get to experience moments

  698. of God's Kingdom in and through our

  699. ministry when we sang and lifted up our

  700. voices to the

  701. Lord that's the already but then there's

  702. a not yet Factor what is that we're

  703. waiting for Christ

  704. return for him to come back and when he

  705. does our loved ones will return with

  706. them they will receive glorified bodies

  707. then we who are remaining as we

  708. acknowledge the trumpet call of God the

  709. shout from the Archangel and Jesus

  710. returning for his kingdom we will meet

  711. with him and Usher him back into the new

  712. heavens and the new Earth church this is

  713. the culmination of our faith Jesus will

  714. be with us forever every tear wiped away

  715. every pain removed every separation

  716. erased never to be separated again let

  717. me close with this a beautiful beautiful

  718. picture of the new heavens and the new

  719. Earth Revelation 21 veres

  720. 1-4 then I saw a new Heaven and a new

  721. Earth for the first Heaven and the first

  722. Earth had passed away and the sea was no

  723. more now remember Revelation is a highly

  724. symbolic

  725. book so John is not saying there's going

  726. to be no bodies of water in the new

  727. heavens and the new Earth the sea you're

  728. familiar with this throughout the

  729. scripture is often used to depict evil

  730. in

  731. sin so through apocalyptic writing and

  732. symbolism what John is saying is there

  733. will be no more sin and evil is

  734. vanquished verse two I saw the holy city

  735. New Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven

  736. from from God prepared as a bride

  737. adorned for her

  738. husband and I heard a loud voice from

  739. the throne saying Behold The Dwelling

  740. Place of God is with man he will dwell

  741. with them and they will be his people

  742. and God himself will be with them as

  743. their God he will wipe away every tear

  744. from their eyes and Death Shall be no

  745. more neither shall there be mourning nor

  746. crying nor pain anymore for their former

  747. things have passed away here's here's

  748. what the Hope here's what the certainty

  749. here's what the reunion provides Heaven

  750. is not just a place Heaven is a

  751. person and that person is

  752. Jesus and I've phrased it this way many

  753. times before if you were in a

  754. place where all your dreams were met and

  755. every desire was fulfilled and and every

  756. loved one was there with but Jesus was

  757. not would you still want to be there now

  758. that's a gut

  759. check and if I'm honest with you I

  760. struggle with that as

  761. well and what it brings to the surface

  762. is maybe some some deepr rooted Pride

  763. evil in sin and and it really helps us

  764. to to understand the tension between

  765. flesh and spirit what do we desire most

  766. our greatest

  767. joy will be being with

  768. Jesus church let's live that way

  769. now with that hope with that expectation

  770. and prioritizing what truly matters and

  771. I love how Paul finishes out our passage

  772. encourage one another with these

  773. words we're not called to cling to Hope

  774. as if it's not available to anyone else

  775. we're not called to look forward to this

  776. reunion and not invite others in but we

  777. are to encourage the people around us

  778. with the truth that one day Christ will

  779. return I pray that we live like it and I

  780. pray that we live ready would you pray

  781. with me
