  1. if you have a Bible or an app go ahead

  2. and open it up we are going to be in

  3. Acts chapter 10 this morning acts

Acts 10 chapter mention Acts 10 chapter mention

  4. chapter 10 we are in week 26 of our

  5. sermon series that we began last year as

  6. we're walking through the book of Acts

  7. several things that we've learned

  8. throughout this series mainly that the

  9. gospel full of power and full of glory

  10. is going forth

  11. unhindered prior to the ascension Jesus

  12. gave a command to his disciples he said

  13. "You are to take the word of God you are

  14. to take it to Jerusalem begin here then

  15. go to J Judea Samaria and the ends of

  16. the earth." And what's incredible is

  17. that's not just a New Testament promise

  18. or command we are seeing the prophetic

  19. fulfillment of the gospel and God's

  20. kingdom going forward to the ends of the

  21. earth that was prophesied all the way

  22. back in the book of Isaiah isaiah

  23. prophesied it this way that salvation

  24. will go to the ends of the earth and

  25. here's what's incredible it's very easy

  26. for us to miss this being so many

  27. centuries removed from what has taken

  28. place in the book of Acts is that we are

  29. currently living in prophetic

  30. fulfillment here's what I mean by that

  31. we are currently living in a moment in

  32. time where the gospel is continuing to

  33. go forward where the kingdom of God is

  34. continuing to be proclaimed and inviting

  35. people in to be a part of God's family

  36. right here right now at this moment

  37. around the world across cultures across

  38. geography across pastimes across all

  39. barriers we are experiencing the

  40. prophetic fulfillment of the gospel

  41. going forward and it's an incredible

  42. thing to be a part of here in Acts

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  43. chapter 10 we are seeing the gospel

  44. break into new boundaries if you were

  45. with us last week we learned that there

  46. are a lot of barriers and boundaries

  47. that that we can set up in our own lives

  48. pretenses and prejudices and and issues

  49. like pride that that would hinder us

  50. from seeing God at work and in through

  51. our lives and and so often we can become

  52. so prideful and we can create these

  53. barriers and these walls in our lives

  54. that that we ourselves would be hindered

  55. from taking the gospel to people in need

  56. and so Acts chapter 10 really serves as

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  57. a hinge for what's taking place

  58. throughout the book right now Peter has

  59. gone to Cesaria which is about 30 to 40

  60. miles from where he previously was in

  61. the city of Japa god has orchestrated

  62. this tremendously god has given Peter a

  63. vision he has also given a Roman

  64. centurion by the name of Cornelius a

  65. vision peter's in Japa 30 to 40 miles

  66. away cornelius is up in Cesaria god

  67. provides a vision to both of them and

  68. through his power majesty and

  69. sovereignty orchestrates this divine

  70. appointment we're going to read about it

  71. here in just a moment and what takes

  72. place the gospel being

  73. proclaimed if there's anything that we

  74. learn from our series throughout the

  75. book of Acts it's it's

  76. this that no matter who it is no matter

  77. where they're from no matter the culture

  78. in which they were raised no matter

  79. their background no matter their past

  80. sin everyone through faith in Jesus can

  81. become part of the family of God and so

  82. here's the question i want to ask this

  83. morning question um that we're going to

  84. dive into is who belongs to the

  85. kingdom and here's what I want to

  86. challenge you with throughout this

  87. morning is don't just approach that

  88. question who belongs to the kingdom but

  89. I want you to personalize it because

  90. maybe some of us here this morning we

  91. don't belong to the kingdom maybe for

  92. for decades we've been on the fray of of

  93. of full faith in the Lord maybe for some

  94. of us we're we're just now stepping into

  95. what the gospel is and what Christianity

  96. means and and and what Jesus could mean

  97. to me as as a personal savior so So not

  98. only will we tackle the question who

  99. belongs to the kingdom i want to

  100. challenge you with this question i want

  101. you to personalize it throughout this

  102. morning ask yourself do I belong to the

  103. kingdom

  104. because whether we believe it or not we

  105. all wrestle with that question maybe in

  106. the past you've

  107. wrestled with being good enough or maybe

  108. because of pride you you've looked at

  109. certain people and you've assumed that

  110. they don't know Jesus or you've assumed

  111. that they'll never belong to the Lord

  112. and if we're not careful we can start

  113. believing that the kingdom of God is for

  114. people just like us everyone has been

  115. guilty of

  116. this as we dive into Acts chapter 10

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  117. what we learn is that the kingdom of God

  118. is not limited the kingdom of God is

  119. never limited the gospel is not to make

  120. people like us don't miss this the

  121. gospel is to make people like Jesus and

  122. I think so often we miss it that this is

  123. the

  124. thing that that that they'll really

  125. headline when it comes to missionaries

  126. around the world right the the goal of

  127. missionaries is not to

  128. Americanize other people the goal of

  129. missionaries is to point them to Jesus

  130. as a matter of fact there's there's an

  131. entire ideology about this and how in

  132. Western culture we kind of we have this

  133. savior mentality we feel that we need to

  134. go and save everyone and that's

  135. admirable that's respectable that that's

  136. honorable i think a lot of that is

  137. really rooted in a heart and a genuine

  138. desire to help people but but remember

  139. good things can often become bad things

  140. if those good things become our only

  141. things and they become our greatest

  142. thing but what should be our one thing

  143. what should be the greatest thing it

  144. should be the gospel it should be Jesus

  145. paul said it this way there is one

  146. thing one thing that I know one thing

  147. that I live by one thing that I pursue

  148. one thing that I chase after and and

  149. Paul was not

  150. diminishing everything else he wasn't

  151. saying the gifts of the spirit aren't a

  152. thing he wasn't saying good ministry

  153. isn't a thing he wasn't saying great

  154. churches aren't a thing but those things

  155. are not anything if not for the one

  156. thing and what's the one thing he says

  157. Christ Jesus and him crucified that's

  158. the gospel message that's here in Acts

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  159. chapter 10 the message that goes forward

  160. so in our passage Peter preaches to

  161. Cornelius and Cornelius remember he's

  162. received this vision and he is preparing

  163. to hear a message from the Lord

  164. cornelius knows this this is what I love

  165. you'll pick this up in our passage here

  166. in just a moment so Cornelius doesn't

  167. just prepare himself to receive the

  168. message he calls his family he calls his

  169. neighbors he calls his friends he calls

  170. his co-workers he calls his people to

  171. come and sit in with him to hear this

  172. message from God this is a divine

  173. appointment in the history of the church

  174. where the gospel is breaking through

  175. Jewish prejudices and into the gentile

  176. world so if you have your Bible open

  177. let's go to Acts chapter 10 we'll throw

    Acts 10 chapter mention

  178. it up on the screen we'll be in verse 34

  179. on through

  180. 43 here's what Dr luke he's the author

  181. of Acts here's what he writes

  182. so Peter opened his mouth and

  183. said

  184. "Truly I

  185. understand that God shows no

  186. partiality." That is

  187. powerful and the reason that it's

  188. powerful is because of the vision Peter

  189. had several days ago

  190. that

  191. vision clearly communicated to him that

  192. the

  193. gospel is for every nation every tongue

  194. every tribe every kingdom that the

  195. gospel is not exclusive to one people

  196. group that it's not exclusive to those

  197. in a particular geographical area or to

  198. those in a particular culture but the

  199. gospel is for anyone who will call upon

  200. the name of Jesus and so Peter as he is

  201. now in Cornelius's household he says

  202. "Truly I understand." What's incredible

  203. about that meeting we learned about this

  204. last week peter's Jewish cornelius is a

  205. Gentile them being together in the same

  206. room having fellowship and community

  207. that would never have happened a week

  208. ago Peter would never have found himself

  209. in the middle of a Gentile's living room

  210. because that would have traditionally

  211. made Peter unclean it would have made

  212. him

  213. common and the Lord tells Peter don't

  214. call common or unclean what God has

  215. deemed

  216. holy and I think this is this this is

  217. for free i think how often do we do that

  218. in our own

  219. life how often do we not recognize what

  220. God is

  221. doing or or or maybe we have an inkling

  222. that God is moving and God is working

  223. but but we neglect to step into it maybe

  224. because of

  225. fear maybe because of shame maybe

  226. because we feel we're not worthy there's

  227. not enough value or purpose in our life

  228. for various reasons we we don't step

  229. into what God has deemed holy because we

  230. think it's common or unclean let's

  231. continue verse

  232. 35 so Peter says "In every nation anyone

  233. who fears him and does what is right is

  234. acceptable to him." As for the word that

  235. he sent to Israel preaching good news of

  236. peace through Jesus Christ he is Lord of

  237. all amen

  238. you yourselves know what happened

  239. throughout all Judea beginning from

  240. Galilee after the baptism that John

  241. proclaimed how God anointed Jesus of

  242. Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with

  243. power he went about doing good and

  244. healing all who were oppressed by the

  245. devil for God was with him and we we are

  246. witnesses of all he did both in the

  247. country of the Jews and in Jerusalem

  248. they put him to death by hanging him on

  249. a

  250. tree but I love this we're going to

  251. celebrate in a couple of weeks god

  252. raised him on the third day and made him

  253. to

  254. appear not to all the people but to us

  255. who had been chosen by God don't miss

  256. this as

  257. witnesses who ate and drank with him

  258. after he rose from the dead and he

  259. commanded us to preach to the people and

  260. to testify that he is the one appointed

  261. by God to be judge of the living and the

  262. dead to him to who to

  263. Jesus the one who was raised from the

  264. grave the one who is judge of the living

  265. and the dead the one who all glory honor

  266. and praise is due to his name and his

  267. name alone all the prophets bear witness

  268. that everyone who believes don't miss

  269. this everyone who believes in him

  270. receives forgiveness of sins through his

  271. name and all God's people said "Amen."

  272. Lord would you bless your word Holy

  273. Spirit would you stir our

  274. hearts

  275. power power is taking place in this

  276. passage there's salvation and no other

  277. name under heaven or earth except the

  278. name of Jesus that is gospel 101

  279. and so if we look at the question who

  280. belongs to the kingdom peter makes it

  281. abundantly clear everyone who believes

  282. in him receives forgiveness of sins

  283. through his name so here's the question

  284. today do you belong to the

  285. kingdom have you've come to Christ in

  286. faith the one who judges the living and

  287. the dead the one who death sin and evil

  288. have no claim over him because he has

  289. conquered it does he live in you does he

  290. guide you does he direct you does he

  291. influence you and I'm not talking about

  292. guiding and influencing over big things

  293. in your life i'm talking about as Paul

  294. declares to the Corinthians whether you

  295. eat or drink whatever you do you do it

  296. for the glory of God but I'm talking

  297. about Paul's words to the Colossians

  298. when he says "Work heartedly unto the

  299. Lord and not to man what you do you do

  300. for the audience of one and what you do

  301. for the audience of one overflows into

  302. every other area of your life." This is

  303. why Jesus with full power and

  304. authority with spiritfilled words

  305. proclaimed in Matthew 5 "Let your light

  306. shine before men." Now don't miss this

  307. who's

  308. light your

  309. light my wife has an incredible light i

  310. tell her one of the things I love about

  311. her is her giving heart she has such

  312. compassion for

  313. people but she can shine her light all

  314. day long that doesn't benefit me

  315. spiritually

  316. so it's my light that I need to shine

  317. because my light is God living in me so

  318. that he can work through me and what

  319. happens when that light shines jesus

  320. says people recognize it your light

  321. shines before men they recognize your

  322. good deeds and what happens they give

  323. honor and glory to our father who is in

  324. heaven i know many of your stories many

  325. of your salvation stories and many of

  326. those stories include you being

  327. evangelized by a family member by a

  328. close friend and you recognizing a light

  329. a difference something unique in them

  330. that you could not explain through

  331. worldly

  332. means and so you came to know Christ you

  333. came to receive the gospel you came to

  334. place faith in the Lord because of that

  335. and so Peter is speaking he's

  336. proclaiming the gospel to Cornelius to

  337. this room that is packed with Gentiles

  338. and I love this because as he's

  339. preaching the

  340. gospel as the word is being received and

  341. next week we'll we'll see how the Holy

  342. Spirit descends upon the gentile world

  343. and how Cornelius and his family becomes

  344. representations of the rest of the world

  345. receiving and being filled by the Holy

  346. Spirit it's an incredible story we'll

  347. learn about next week but what we see

  348. here what Peter is doing is he is

  349. outlining five powerful markers of those

  350. who belong to the kingdom

  351. not the ones who are perfect not the

  352. ones who put on a performance but the

  353. one who

  354. believes the one who is experiencing

  355. what what Paul tells the Ephesians it is

  356. by grace

  357. through

  358. faith through the faith that has been

  359. awakened in you that has been stirred in

  360. you and that is the focus of your life

  361. of your marriage of your work of your

  362. of your stewardship of your resources of

  363. everything about you so that through a

  364. changed and transformed life people

  365. recognize Christ in you and he gets the

  366. glory not you there's nothing that we

  367. can boast in the only thing that we can

  368. boast in is the cross who Christ is what

  369. he's done and how he's worked so here's

  370. what I want to do with our remaining

  371. time i want to look at each of these

  372. markers that Peter outline outlines in

  373. his gospel presentation as we look at

  374. the question who belongs to the kingdom

  375. peter gives us the answer here in the

  376. gospel if you're taking notes here's the

  377. first one those who belong to the

  378. kingdom know the heart of

  379. God last week I celebrated 21 years

  380. shout out married to my

  381. wife and the only listen the only reason

  382. we have 21 years is because of Jesus man

  383. how many of us can testify the only

  384. reason our wife is putting up with us is

  385. because of Jesus

  386. amen in 21 years oh I've been with my

  387. wife since I was 15 i'm 41 y'all do the

  388. math but in all those

  389. decades I've come to know the heart of

  390. my

  391. wife and I'm still growing in

  392. understanding her

  393. heart marriage is a great picture of the

  394. gospel matter of fact in every marriage

  395. ceremony um I that I uh not perform

  396. what's the word I'm looking

  397. for what's the word officiate thank you

  398. amen amen every marriage ceremony that I

  399. officiate I make it a point to have a

  400. gospel presentation because marriage is

  401. a beautiful picture of the gospel it's

  402. two people knowing the hearts of one

  403. another listen when we are in a

  404. relationship with Jesus we know his

  405. heart those who belong to the kingdom

  406. know the heart of God go back with me to

  407. verse 34 this is this is the turning

  408. point right it's the moment that that

  409. Peter is realizing that God is not

  410. playing favorites with people verse 34

  411. it says "Peter opened his mouth and said

  412. truly I understand that God shows no

  413. partiality." Here's what's incredible i

  414. love word studies you know this the

  415. Greek word for

  416. partiality means receiver of

  417. faces and so what Peter is is clearly

  418. communicating is is what the priest

  419. Samuel told us in his writings is is

  420. that God does not look on the outward

  421. appearance but he looks straight into

  422. the heart of the individual

  423. peter is understanding that that the

  424. kingdom belongs to those who Christ has

  425. entered into their hearts paul tells us

  426. in Romans chapter 10 that if we confess

    Romans 10 chapter mention

  427. with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and

  428. believe in our hearts that Christ indeed

  429. raised him from the grave we shall be

  430. saved there is something about the heart

  431. that is

  432. powerful in salvation

  433. so powerful in fact that it connects us

  434. to the heart of God and so what Peter

  435. recognizes here is that God doesn't

  436. judge by

  437. appearances he judges by the heart to

  438. belong to the kingdom is to know the

  439. heart of God to belong to the kingdom is

  440. to live for the glory of God it's a

  441. heart that

  442. isn't

  443. prejudice or prideful or

  444. partial it's overflowing with mercy it's

  445. a heart that's for

  446. you that's the heart of our king that's

  447. the heart of our father in heaven here's

  448. what I want you to do it's a heart for

  449. you do this with me it's a heart for

  450. Roland put your name in

  451. there it's a heart for Josh it's a heart

  452. for Lacy it's a heart for Mary it's a

  453. heart for Scott it's a heart for you

  454. that's the king's heart that's what the

  455. gospel does and it calls you out of sin

  456. and into what into holy living here's

  457. the second marker those who belong to

  458. the kingdom live obedient lives did you

  459. catch that

  460. so now I I want you to follow the

  461. pattern here the natural overflow this

  462. is biblical the natural overflow of a

  463. heart that's connected to the heart of

  464. God is going to be seen in an obedient

  465. life so I've been talking about this

  466. pretty regularly with with a circle of

  467. friends with with w with pastors who I

  468. lead a Bible study uh and a book study

  469. with in the scripture faith and

  470. obedience are connected they are not

  471. separated what we've done in our culture

  472. is we have separated faith in the Lord

  473. from obedience to the Lord and so we'll

  474. say things like this we can live life

  475. the way that we want we can live in

  476. active sin that is clearly rebellious

  477. and a sign of evil and and an affront to

  478. the holiness and righteousness of God

  479. and we won't bat an eye why because we

  480. made a confession at some point in our

  481. life if there is no obedience James the

  482. brother of Jesus will say this if there

  483. is no

  484. works that demonstrates the faith that

  485. you

  486. proclaim then the works is not the issue

  487. it's the absence of faith that faith is

  488. corrupt it's rotten james says it this

  489. way it is a dead faith so go with me

  490. here to verse 35 it's powerful what does

  491. Peter say peter says 'In every nation

  492. anyone who fears him he's talking about

  493. the Lord anyone who fears the Lord and

  494. does what is right is acceptable to him

  495. before we dive into what Peter is saying

  496. let's focus on what he's not saying he

  497. is not saying that works are what merit

  498. salvation he is not saying that if you

  499. just do these things correctly if you do

  500. them right then your ticket to heaven is

  501. punched let's get that out the way he is

  502. not saying that as a matter of fact

  503. there is an entire doctrine in theology

  504. and scripture that speaks against

  505. work-based salvation so what is Peter

  506. saying he is saying that those who

  507. belong to the kingdom fear God those who

  508. belong to the kingdom walk in reverence

  509. those who belong to the kingdom strive

  510. to live

  511. rightly there is genuine

  512. desire in living obediently before the

  513. Lord don't miss this

  514. not out of

  515. obligation but out of love for

  516. Jesus out of a desire to see his face

  517. and to experience his glory and his

  518. majesty in your

  519. life the nearer you draw to the

  520. Lord the nearer he draws to you

  521. what that means is the more I'm pursuing

  522. God the more I'm going to love God the

  523. more I'm going to experience God the

  524. more I'm going to see the face of God

  525. what's incredible here is that word

  526. acceptable when Peter says "Whoever does

  527. these things is acceptable to the Lord."

  528. Some of your translations will read "Are

  529. welcomed by the Lord." He's not talking

  530. about being perfect what Peter is

  531. talking about is being postured before

  532. the Lord ask yourself this question

  533. what's the posture of my life if if I

  534. profess to be a

  535. Christian what is the posture of my

  536. heart if if I profess to know the heart

  537. of my king what is the posture of my

  538. life what does it demonstrate does it

  539. demonstrate that I fear him and that I'm

  540. doing what is acceptable because a a

  541. life that is postured in obedience

  542. before the Lord is a life that says "God

  543. I want to walk in your

  544. ways i want to be a part of what you're

  545. doing." And at the end of the day you

  546. know this obedience is the fruit of

  547. belief right works is the product of

  548. faith not the other way around so does

  549. our lives reflect the heart of God

  550. here's the third thing that we recognize

  551. those who belong to the kingdom respond

  552. to God's invitation i think this is my

  553. favorite part out of this gospel

  554. presentation go with me to verse

  555. 36 peter says "As for the word," don't

  556. miss this as for the word that he sent

  557. to Israel that's key here preaching good

  558. news and and peace through Jesus Christ

  559. he is Lord of all here's what Peter is

  560. getting at god sent the word god

  561. initiates the invitation and Peter says

  562. that word is good news that word is the

  563. gospel that word brings peace that word

  564. is Lord of all and and the thing about

  565. the gospel is this gospel of peace this

  566. this peace with God peace within

  567. yourself it's all through

  568. who it's all through Jesus Christ so so

  569. so here's the challenge to us ask

  570. yourself am I truly walking in peace now

  571. now we have to clarify what what peace

  572. is this is not

  573. original peace is not the absence of the

  574. storm

  575. peace is a shift in attitude a shift in

  576. mindset a shift of of perspective a

  577. shift of heart in the midst of the storm

  578. which is

  579. why you can endure hell on

  580. earth and still worship

  581. you can endure pain that you would not

  582. wish on your worst enemy and with lifted

  583. hands still proclaim "He is the lover of

  584. my

  585. soul." This is the peace that God

  586. invites us into this is the peace that

  587. is available to anyone who calls upon

  588. the name of Jesus but here's the thing

  589. those who belong to the kingdom aren't

  590. ones who just hear the invitation

  591. remember the word was sent god initiates

  592. god invites god reaches down it's not us

  593. reaching up it's God reaching down the

  594. scriptur is clear there's no one who

  595. does good no one who seeks after the

  596. father not one which is why God in his

  597. great love and mercy sends his son

  598. becomes flesh lives a life we couldn't

  599. live dies a death we all deserve raises

  600. from the grave three days later ascends

  601. to be at the right hand of the father

  602. and one day will return in glory and in

  603. honor the ones who belong to the kingdom

  604. are those who respond to the invitation

  605. we don't stay on the

  606. sidelines but we admire and we admit and

  607. we confess and we submit to the Lord and

  608. what does Peter say he is Lord of what

  609. of

  610. all not Lord of

  611. some not Lord only on Sundays

  612. not Lord only during your Bible study or

  613. prayer time during the week but Lord of

  614. all here's the fourth marker peter in

  615. proclaiming his gospel says "Those who

  616. belong to the kingdom they fix their

  617. eyes on the crucified Christ." I I love

  618. how Peter begins to walk them very

  619. quickly a cliffnotes version of the life

  620. of Jesus beginning in verse 37

  621. you yourselves know what happened

  622. throughout all Judea beginning from

  623. Galilee after the baptism that John

  624. proclaimed how God anointed Jesus of

  625. Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with

  626. power he went about doing good and

  627. healing all who were oppressed by the

  628. devil for God was with him let me hit

  629. the pause

  630. button before you came to Jesus in faith

  631. you and I were oppressed by the devil

  632. before you and I came to Jesus in faith

  633. we were influenced and

  634. enslaved by the devil that's the

  635. seriousness of sin did you know that sin

  636. is not something that that that is just

  637. halfhazard in our life hazardous yes

  638. indeed but it's not just something that

  639. that we just look at and say "Well no

  640. big deal." No your sin is a very big

  641. deal your sin separates you from the

  642. Lord it separates you from the heart of

  643. God and if you don't respond to the

  644. invitation if you don't connect your

  645. heart to the heart of the King if

  646. obedience is not the overflow of your

  647. faith in the Lord then we are in danger

  648. of being eternally separated from God

  649. and my hope and my prayer is that maybe

  650. if you've been wrestling with that

  651. question do I belong to the kingdom that

  652. today for you as a scripture mightily

  653. and boldly declares would be the day of

  654. salvation scripture says they put Jesus

  655. to

  656. death the one who brought

  657. life and was killed by our sin and to

  658. belong to the kingdom is to never move

  659. past the cross we have to go through the

  660. cross of Christ which is why throughout

  661. the New Testament we'll hear things like

  662. this that we are called to

  663. bear our own

  664. cross we are called to walk with what

  665. we've been dealt with through the storms

  666. and all experiencing peace but focused

  667. on the cross of

  668. Jesus is the cross still personal to you

  669. or is it background noise in your faith

  670. here's the fifth and last one those who

  671. belong to the kingdom they live and they

  672. speak the resurrection right that that's

  673. the lynch pin for Christianity paul says

  674. if there is no resurrection then our

  675. work is in vain and our faith means

  676. nothing but because the resurrection

  677. indeed is true signified by countless

  678. witnesses by written accounts that we

  679. have in the gospels those who belong to

  680. the kingdom live and speak the

  681. resurrection verse 40 god raised him on

  682. the third day and made him to appear not

  683. to all people but to us who had been

  684. chosen by God as witnesses who ate and

  685. drank with him after he rose from the

  686. dead in other words real these were

  687. things that we experienced and he

  688. commanded us to preach to the people and

  689. to testify that he is the one appointed

  690. by God to be judge of the living and the

  691. dead to him all the prophets bear

  692. witness that everyone here it is

  693. everyone who believes in him receives

  694. forgiveness of sins through his

  695. name all based on

  696. what on a savior who is

  697. alive we don't believe in a savior who's

  698. dead who has no power because the grave

  699. overpowered him but we believe in a

  700. savior who has overcome sin death and

  701. the grave the one who lives and breathes

  702. this is why Peter in using the word

  703. witness is demonstrating what that

  704. actually means did you know the Greek

  705. word for witness is martus is where we

  706. get the word martyr from and so here's

  707. here's what Peter is saying he's not

  708. just saying we saw something but we

  709. experienced and we know it to the point

  710. that I will stake my life on it which is

  711. why church history and tradition tells

  712. us that each of the disciples died as

  713. martyrs for the faith you don't die for

  714. something that's not true you don't die

  715. for a

  716. lie you don't have to be a preacher to

  717. preach the

  718. gospel kingdom people live like Jesus is

  719. alive and the thing is because he

  720. is so who belongs to the kingdom i pray

  721. that it's you i pray that you know the

  722. heart of

  723. God that you walk in obedience before

  724. him that you

  725. responded to the gospel invitation that

  726. your eyes are fixed on the crucified

  727. Christ and as a result you will live and

  728. breathe the

  729. resurrection the life of Christ in you

  730. and through you would you pray with me

  731. lord we thank you for your word we thank

  732. you for our time this morning

  733. i pray Lord that as you continue to move

  734. through this place would you draw us

  735. closer to you spirit would you move in

  736. the lives of people maybe someone needed

  737. to hear this word this

  738. morning and that's why they're

  739. here for no other

  740. reason to experience salvation

  741. lord as we close our time and as we go

  742. into a a moment of

  743. response I pray that you would draw

  744. people to your spirit in Christ's name

  745. we pray all God's people said amen
