Passion Week 2025 - Palm Sunday - Matthew 21:6-11

today is Palm Sunday and that marks the

beginning of Passion Week Picture this

Jesus is riding into Jerusalem but he's

not riding on a waror He's riding on a

donkey The scripture tells us that

people are casting palm branches and

their coats before the King of Kings and

the Lord of Lords And they're crying out

"Hosana hosana in the highest," which

means "Save us." Let me read to you from

Matthew chap 21 beginning in verse 6 It

says "The disciples went and did as

Jesus had directed them They brought the

donkey and the colt and put on them

their cloaks and he sat on them Most of

the crowds spread their cloaks on the

road and others put out branches from

the trees and spread them on the road."

And the crowds that went before him and

that followed him were shouting "Hosana

to the son of David Blessed is he who

comes in the name of the Lord Hosana in

the highest And when he entered

Jerusalem the whole city was stirred up

saying "Who is this?" And the crowd said

"This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth

of Galilee." Here's what makes that

story amazing Jesus is coming in peace

The crowd didn't quite yet understand

the kind of kingdom Jesus was ushering

in This moment is a fulfillment of the

prophecy found in the Old Testament

Zechariah chapter 9:9 It demonstrates

and shows us that Jesus is indeed the

promised Messiah Palm Sunday is a great

reminder that Jesus enters our lives not

with force but with love and humility So

today on this Palm Sunday I want to

challenge you to ask yourself am I

welcoming Jesus as king are you ready to

follow him even if his ways look

different than you expected
