hey and welcome to day two of Passion
-
Week what's more commonly referred to as
-
Holy Monday And today we're going to
-
look at the story of when Jesus walks
-
into the temple and he begins to flip
-
over tables because they're using it
-
more so as a marketplace and less like
-
what he says it should be which is
-
commonly referred to as the house of
-
prayer And this is where Jesus is upset
-
and he's showing a righteous anger at
-
those who are taking advantage of people
-
in the name of religion And so as we
-
look at Matthew 21
-
12-17 we see what takes place in this
-
story And it says "And Jesus entered the
-
temple and drove off all who sold and
-
bought in the temple And he overturned
-
the tables of the money changers and the
-
seats of those who sold pigeons." He
-
said to them "It is written my house
-
shall be called a house of prayer but
-
you make it a den of robbers." And the
-
blind and the lame came to him in the
-
temple and he healed them But when the
-
chief priests and the scribes saw the
-
wonderful things that he did and the
-
children crying out in the temple
-
"Hosana to the son of David," they were
-
indignant And they said to him "Do you
-
hear what these are saying?" And Jesus
-
said to them "Yes have you never read
-
out of the mouth of infants and nursing
-
babies you have prepared praise." And
-
leaving them he went out of the city to
-
Bethany and lodged there Holy Monday
-
challenges us to look inward Are there
-
tables in your life that God needs to
-
flip Is our relationship with God
-
focused on deeper connection or is it
-
cluttered with distractions and noise
-
that the world throws at us Is our focus
-
on God or is our focus on self And
-
that's the real question that we need to
-
ask is what areas in our life does God
-
need to have removed in order for him to
-
make a way to grow us deeper So let's
-
clear out anything that's keeping us
-
from a true relationship with him
