Passion Week 2025 - Spy Wednesday - Matthew 26:14-16

hey everyone and welcome to day four of

Passion Week what's more commonly

referred to as spy Wednesday and today

is the day that Judas betrays Jesus he

traded him for 30 pieces of silver

that's what he thought that Jesus was

worth 30 pieces of silver to trade the

savior of the world and betray the very

one who had loved him and invested in

him and so as we look at Matthew 26

14-16 we see how this betrayal begins to

take place and it says "Then one of the

12 whose name was Judas a Scariot went

to the chief priests and said "What will

you give me if I deliver him over to

you?" And they paid him 30 pieces of

silver and from that moment he sought an

opportunity to betray him judas had

walked with Jesus he had seen his

miracles and heard his teachings and yet

he was still willing to betray Jesus

this moment reminds us how subtle

betrayal can be it was not loud and full

of noise it was subtle and quiet and yet

we have to beg the question of what

areas in our life that are subtle and

quiet that are calling us to betray

Jesus or in what areas are we walking in

betrayal to Christ so here's the

question for us today what are we

willing to trade Christ for is it

approval is it comfort is it success is

it that next job promotion is it the

fact that we want to make sure that

everybody is involved in everything

except for the one thing that has an

eternal impact what are we trading Jesus

for
