Passion Week 2025 - Easter Sunday - Matthew 28:2-6

today is resurrection Sunday Easter it's

the greatest day in history the tomb is

empty and the words that the angels

declared are the greatest words in the

history of the world he is not here he

is risen he is risen indeed let me share

with you the scriptural account as

recorded in the Gospel of Matthew right

here in chapter 28 beginning in verse

two

and behold there was a great earthquake

for an angel of the Lord descended from

heaven and came and rolled back the

stone and sat on it his appearance was

like lightning and his clothing white as

snow and for fear of him the guards

trembled and became like dead men but

the angel said to the women "Do not be

afraid for I know that you seek Jesus

who was crucified he is not here for he

has risen as he said come see the place

where he lay this story is the heart of

our faith jesus didn't just die and stay

there he rose from the grave this is his

demonstration over sin death and

everything that is evil the empty tomb

proves that his payment for your life

was accepted by the father on that day

the women came to the grave expecting to

mourn and feel sad but the resurrection

turns our sorrow into joy it turns our

mourning into gladness it turns your

fear into hope and it reminds us that

there is life beyond death it has no

power the resurrection isn't just a

story to remember it is a story to

celebrate and live out because Jesus

lives we now have access to the father

in heaven we have access to real freedom

real joy and real purpose so today let's

celebrate with real gratitude with real

joy that our savior is alive so today

let's celebrate not just with tradition

but with deep gratitude the tomb is

empty jesus is alive and that changes

everything
